Hard to believe we are the halfway mark of the 2022 season and in a li le over 9 weeks we will be heading into the major rounds and what promises to be an interes ng final series for both junior grades. So far this year the Junior Colts have seen 2 teams lead the pack in the up-and-coming young Glencoe side and a consistent Kongorong side looking to carry on from a successful 2021 season. However, there are a few teams looking to knock these teams off in Pt MacDonnell, Hatherleigh, Mt Burr and Robe. As we all know anything can happen in footy and we could see a few results in the remaining part of the year that could turn the tables. Senior Colts are another that is hard to pick. Robe once again is leading the way and like the young Hawks have picked up where they le off in 2021. Chasing them hard is Hatherleigh, Kongorong and Mt Burr and as we all know with senior colts anything is possible on game day if they come prepared to play from the outset. One thing is for sure we are guaranteed to see some quality football played over the coming weeks. What a great Interleague Carnival we had. The U15's lead by Chrissy Mules and the U17's led by Reece Duncan. Both coaches are passionate about junior football and interleague and we must thank them for their commitment this year and hope to see them both roll around again in 2023. While results didn't go the way we were hoping it gave a lot of our boys a opportunity to have a look at representa ve football and what is required to step up to the next level. 2022 has already been a busy year for clubs and officials and a huge thank you must go out to all volunteers who make games happen week in and week out. Game days don't just happen and takes an army of people to make them a success. Please I urge everyone at every opportunity to stop and thank these people and even if you have half an hour to spare, jump in whether it be canteen, stubby shed or somewhere and help. I'm sure no one will say no, yet will be apprecia ve of all the help. Once again, we are lucky to have so many passionate people give up and volunteer their me to couch our juniors. To have these people give up their me come rain, hail, and shine week in and week out over the length of a season is a real testament to the commitment people play at our clubs. It's never an easy task be it juggling numbers or searching for players each week but it's always done with the best interest of the players and club at heart. It can be a thankless and challenging task at mes but as families and supporters we need to remember our junior coaches are volunteers who give up so many hours a week to coach the kids, so we need to be suppor ng them at every opportunity and let them coach as to make sure they get to enjoy the experience as much as what the players do. As a league we have one of the best and strongest country compe ons in South Australia and there should be nothing be er than driving in that front gate of a morning where we can leave the worries of the outside world behind and just enjoy the day. I feel that as people we forget this at mes (me included) that footy is a day where: kids get to do their thing and have fun and strut their stuff hopefully with a smile on their face, families and players get to parade in club colours and support their teams, enjoy catching up with friends and foes over a beer and a steak while having a laugh in the stubby sheds BUT most importantly of all just switch off, relax and enjoy probably the best day of the week for a lot of people win, lose or draw. While there is so much external noise around with Covid, league mergers etc and we are all passionate about our clubs PLEASE I ask next me you drive in the front gate of footy remember why we love this great game so much, it is country footy, everyone are volunteers trying their best, watch and support the kids who are our next lot of league superstars coming through, have a laugh and just enjoy the day, as in no me we will be at the end of the season wondering where the year went, wishing it was s ll going. Best of luck to all teams for the remainder of the season and I look forward to catching up with everyone over the coming weeks. Graham Dowie

Well that marks the halfway mark of the 2022 season. Congratula ons to all the football and netball teams who have been lucky to score wins and we hope that by the end of the 2022 season every team has tasted success. If you didn't make the trek to Robe you may have missed the best quarter of footy Nangwarry has been a part of in a very long me. A er the hal ime break and a bit of a spray the boys came out and kicked 8 goals to Robe’s 2 to come back and be within a goal before the 3 quarter break. This just goes to show what the boys are capable when they are all switched on and willing to have a crack. Hopefully the boys can start the game this week like that and maintain it for 4 full quarters. Our senior colts are s ll a li le undermanned so if there are any boys out there missing out on a game and keen please let Jamie know. Keep your heads up lads and hopefully with a full team once everyone has had Covid you will get a win. This week's sponsors are Highway Mechanical and Penley Estate. Penley Estate is one of Coonawarra's leading wineries established by the Tolley's, direct descendants of two of Australia's most famous wine families: Penfold and Tolley. Next me you are in Coonawarra make sure you head out and say hey to Benny or Steve! We also acknowledge Highway Mechanical. Please give them a call on 8725 0044 and we hope our supporters support both of these companies in 2022. Under 11: Good game by our boys down at Robe. Some really good team work throughout the game. It's pleasing to see some improvement in our newer players and also a few of the boys that have a few seasons under the belts playing consistent footy Junior Colts: Our match against Robe was played in probably the best weather condi ons of any match played on the day. We managed to dodge all the rain by some miracle which the team was happy about. We came out of the blocks slow and only some

2nd qtr

3rd qtr

inaccurate kicking by Robe kept us in the game. We hit our straps in the 3rd quarter and kicked consecu ve goals and missed a few more chances and were unlucky not to have been closer than the 11pt margin at 3/4 me. For our group we just couldn't get going in the last and Robe took control of the contest to run out 26pt winners. Thanks to Robe for the loan of some players, much appreciated. Best players were Benne , Calais, Tayte, Blake, Jordan D and Deklan. Senior Colts: Firstly I want to thank the Robe footy club for again supplying a few players every quarter to be able a game to go ahead. I also want to say a huge thanks to those players who played for us and the way you applied yourselves to test yourselves against your own team mates but more importantly be able help our boys to gain confidence was greatly appreciated. When playing the undefeated top side it's easy to think it could be a long day. While we were slow out of the blocks, a er quarter me we actually outscored Robe by a couple of points in the remaining 3 quarters. It was a cracking game of footy and showed we are about 4 bigger players short of having a pre y good team. So get to finding them for 2023! Best players Archer, Ty, Brandon, Riley, Calais and Taj. Goals Archer and Calais 2 each along with Riley 1. B Grade: Well at halfway mark of the season we are 4-4. The game at Robe was our first game in the wet. We came up against a very good side and they won 8 goals to 1. The whole side had a red hot crack especially the back line. Let's have a week off and reset for the second half of the year. Thanks to Steve for doing the runner job. Best Sco , Hoody, Chappo, Stewy, Millsy, Craig, Josh, Jezz, Chris. Goals Josh Smith 1. Cheers go the Saints. A Grade: Our boys started slow which has been the case the last two weeks, but when the rain came down we played the best footy we've played to date. I'm pre y happy with our first half of the year and I'm looking forward to what's coming in the second half! Good luck to everyone playing interleague.

A er a couple of weeks off we are at the start of round 2! Congratula ons to all of our players who represented our club at Interleague level last weekend. It is a great honour to represent our league and a great achievement to make the teams, so well done to you all. Our next event will be Christmas in July so stay tuned for those details soon. Under 11: With Mt Burr not having an U11 side we invited any of their kids to join us for a scratch match. Was good to see 4 of them take up the offer. We got the be er of the weather for a change and with the smaller numbers on the field it was a great chance for everyone to get more of an opportunity. Pre y sure the kids enjoyed playing each other and ge ng the chance to tackle and bump their mates. Half way through the year now, looking forward to how much they keep developing through the second round. Congrats to Jack Rowe who played his first Junior Colt game as well, was awesome to see him do really well even kicking a goal. Well done. Junior Colts: Last game we came up against Mt Burr. Our kids let them off to a quick start and we struggled to stop them a er that. We learnt a valuable lesson that if we don't all work hard together as a team football can be a hard game. To our credit we kept at it and improved throughout the game. Big congratula ons to Jack Rowe for stepping up and playing his first Junior Colts game - even snagged a goal. Best player for us was Kaden Bell once again leading from the front even taking it on himself to go back and try and stop Charlie Bevan and doing a great job. Other best players in no order where Eli Bowman, Summer Batchelor, Jayden Hunter and Jake Bevan. Senior Colts: G'day again, we played host to the Mozzies for the

last game of round 1 and with a couple of blokes out due to injury and unavailability it was going to be a tough game. Once again the boys ba led hard and did all that was asked of them, kicking and running to space and pu ng pressure on the opponent as much as they could. Our be er players for the day were Ellis, the two Braydn's Rowe and Hateley, Ryan Simmons with young Jake Bevan rounding out the five. Keep ya heads up lads and keep ba ling away. Reserves: Cold and wet Saturday saw us facing up against Mt Burr at home. A hard slog for most of the day but our constant pressure and ball throughout the game gave us a steady win by over 50 points. Best player went to Aaron Trowbridge for a great day playing all over the ground and se ng up a number of goals. Other best players went to Chris McCallum, Marky Bell, Tyson Holden, Daniel Clarke and Ma Nelson. A Grade: G'day everyone. Last game we hosted Mount Burr Mozzies in hopes to regain a bit of momentum and confidence back in our footy a er a couple weeks of rough figures. Early in the game our Tigers were looking good with plenty of the play and two early goals. The second quarter seen a few mistakes and inaccurate kicking resul ng in coming in at the half down by a couple points but the boys were keen to regain the lead at all cost. Mozzies weren’t going away and unwilling to give away their lead. With a couple late missed opportuni es the Tigers fell short by 5 points. Hard fought game on both ends but just fell short. Best in no order Jordy Ha , Troy Ha , Ellis Cushion, Jack Dawe and Hayden Brown. www.tantanoolafootballclub. spor ngpulse.net Find us on Facebook: Tantanoola Football and Netball Club

A Grade: Last round we hosted ladder leaders Kalangadoo in what promised to be a mammoth contest. With a big focus on pressure we started really well and banged on the first 8 goals of the game. We knew Kalangadoo would respond and the last three quarters was a stalemate with both teams stealing momentum back and forth in a high intensity game. Our lads played a good tough team oriented brand of football which resulted in us running out the game with a good 7 goal win. Mark Marrio had another big day out in the ruck while also making the football look dry by marking everything that came his way. Jordy Galpin and Will Chay were tough as nails and got the football going our way all day while up forward Brad Mitchell (5 goals) and Darcy Bateman (3 goals) both presented well and made the most of their opportuni es. We look forward to a week off then hi ng the track hard and ge ng back into it. Go Eagles!

were Sam Telfer who had a good day around the ground also kicking 4 goals to take out BOG honours, second best went to Bre Wa o. 3rd best went to our general in defence in big Leary. 4th best was Kain train who rucked most of the day by himself against quality opposi on. 5th best went to Saucey Brown who had another good game around the ground. Hopefully we can take this good form into the second half of the season and get a few back from injury!

B Grade: Another wet and windy day for our top of the table clash at home against Kalangadoo. This was always going to be a good B Grade game of football. It lived up to be just that, we knew we were going to get a challenge, I asked the group before the game who was going to stand up and win this game for us. I think the whole 20 blokes stood up and played a good stylish game of footy to out run Kalangadoo by 51 points and finish the 1st round 8-0. With the week off and a bit of me to rest and recover to get back down to business in a fortnight against the Burr! Best players

Senior Colts: Last round we went back home to the nest to play against Kalangadoo. With a projected 20mm of rain we all knew it was going to be a day of wet weather footy. The team was thrown around a fair bit due to lack of numbers from both teams from Covid. We called on a few junior colts to come up and play with us and they all did a great job. The first half of footy was played out as an even contest with Kalangadoo looking like a dy side moving the ball well through there backline. As the quarters went on, we managed to get on top a er the third and secured the win 15 goals 4 to 7 goals three. Our be er players for the day were Harvey Jones kicking 6 goals. Ethan Leopold con nued his good form and played a fantas c game. Bailey Linder did his usual thing finding plenty of the footy. Eli Kneen was good down back again and Zak Bowering played a strong game through the ruck and forward. We wish our boys playing interleague all the best as they get an opportunity to player at a higher level against some quality opponents.

Junior Colts: Last round we headed down to Robe for a wet day of footy, to our boys credit they played clean smart footy even in the miserable condi ons. A big shout out to all the volunteers who without we wouldn’t have a game. And also to Tant for lending us some players so we could have a game. It was a great team effort and I was proud of everyone of our boys for what they le out there. It was very difficult to pick the best players because everyone deserved a spot on the list but we went with Levi Thiele, Charlie Bevan, Finn Woolston, Jayden Garner, Heath Johnston, Deklan Brant. We con nue to improve and bond as a team and it shows on Saturday. We look forward to our next challenge when we face Hatherleigh. Cheers Tom Senior Colts: Last round we came up against a very determined but undermanned Tant side and just scraped home a er a bit of a scare. This means we finished the first round in 4th spot but have plenty of hard work to do in the second round. Best players were Charlie Bevan who dominated across CHB and slipped down for a couple of goals, Deklan Brant rebounded hard all day and was strong with his a ack on the ball, Brock Sandow ran all day and is really star ng to be more composed when delivering the ball, Liam Johnston had his best game for the year being strong around the 50/50 contests, Bradlee Lawson con nued his consistent year and was nearly impossible to tackle and Blake Brant chased hard all game and worked hard to get across and help team mates. B Grade: Wet, windy condi ons greeted us as we arrived at Tantanoola. We started the game well and it was only a goal just before the half me siren that gave Tantanoola the lead for the first me. Unfortunately we again played a very poor 3rd quarter and our opposi on made the most of the strong breeze. The last quarter

2nd qtr

3rd qtr

was more of the same as the big bodies of Tantanoola got right on top. I was proud of the team’s effort at being first to the ball and the way players kept compe ng despite having no healthy players on the bench for the second half. Best players were Harrison Sutcliffe, Je Bowering, Braeden Thwaites, George Wimshurst and Jack Francis. A Grade: Round 9 saw us travel down to Tigerland for what we knew would be a tough contest. Was good to come away with the win at the end of the day but we certainly didn’t make it easy for ourselves. Apologies to those outside of the playing group that heard my colourful address at quarter me! Credit to the boys though we certainly slugged it out and worked hard for the win. It was those types of games we were losing last year so pleasing to come away with the win and head into the break with some favourable results of late. Plenty of work ahead of us but we look forward to it. Best players for the day were from 6th - Knife, who repelled plenty of a acks in the last quarter and really stood up when needed. 5th - Horse, who repelled in the first half and gave our boys guidance throughout the day. 4th - Joshy Wallis who did what he does best and ran straight lines, brought the ball to ground and worked hard all day. 3rd - Sam Wallis who again a acked the ball like a madman and gave us repeated efforts all day. 2nd Brodie Hennink who’s link up, skill and decision making certainly was crucial to our win and 1st - Wil Bowering who is showing he can play elite football with his a ack, run and ball use when he’s around it. Very pleasing to see Wil star ng to come into his own this year and play some great football. Best of luck to all our Interleague representa ves (football and netball) and we’ll see you all at Hatherleigh to go around again! Go Burr.

The Glencoe Football Club is saddened to lose life member Kevin Von Duve senior with his recent passing. Joe as he was affec onately known, was a long serving member of our club. He was involved as a player, trainer, commi ee person and President (19791982). All at Glencoe send sincere condolences to Michelle, Bronwyn, Kevin, Gary, Neil (dec), Brad and to their extended families, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult me. Last round we hosted Port Mac at home. In a cold and wet day that probably suited the opposi on we came away with a rela vely successful day on the footy field. Junior Colts: Pricey's Junior Colts got back on the winners list, bea ng the 3rd placed side comprehensively by 69 points. They finish the first round of compe on 7 and 1 and si ng in 2nd place on the ladder. Hopefully a consistent effort will see them with a top 2 finish at years end. Best players were Lachlan Brierley, Thomas Richards, Daniel Ferguson, Hamish Gordon, Samuel Haase and Blake Gosden. Senior Colts: Pie's Senior Colts turned out a great performance and managed to find a few fill-ins for the weekend. They ran out 36point winners and played really well for 4 quarters. These boys have shown great improvement since Round 1 and will hopefully get more wins in the second half of the season. Best players were Fletcher Lawson, Bailey Rothall, Patrick Langsmith, 2nd qtr

3rd qtr

Marcus McGrath, Ben Weedon and Declan Mutch. Reserves: Parrot had the Reserves pumped up and raring to go for what was his 300th senior game at the footy club. A massive achievement for a small man, but it shows the commitment of the bloke that he has shown to the club and not giving up on us through tough mes over 21 years. The boys played a great 4 quarter game in cold wet weather. The middle was dominant again, and the forwards made the most of their opportunity before some rain set in. We came away with a 104-point win to put us equal 4th on the ladder for the first me all year. Best players were Taylor McGrath, Trent Hawke, Tory Weaver, Anthony Cary and Lachlan Hoch. A Grade: Tom's A Grade got off to a good start and brought a lot of pressure early in the game against a very in form opponent. We kept the intensity there throughout the second and third terms although we let some easy goals slip through. The last quarter was terrible, and we dropped right away and couldn't keep up going down by 60 points. A few injuries didn't help us, and we need to get more inside 50's to be damaging and challenge these top sides. Best players were Patrick Mitchell, Zacc Cocks, Tom Edwards, Dylan Childs and Dylan Pfitzner. Today we host Kalangadoo in what will be a tough game for the senior grades, but hopefully winnable ones for the junior sides.

B Grade: As the winter hits the SE of South Australia, everyone that travelled for the round 9 game against Glencoe packed 2 coats, 2 jumpers and 5 ou its for every child under 10 expec ng near Armageddon condi ons, to be greeted on arrival with only the minor blast of winter and even at some stage of the day to see a li le sun. Don't get me wrong it was far from the beaches of the tropics, but it could have been a lot worse. The threat of winter didn't affect the B Grade enthusiasm, with a near full side which as always included mandatory 1 or 2 recruits from the car or a rela ve of someone and the necessary 4 colts required to fill the side every week. However, the great posi ve this was se led early Saturday allowing the proper introduc ons among the group and even a li le planning from the coaching staff. The game started off even for the first li le part of the quarter, there were also some real posi ve patches throughout the game, unfortunately they were unable to be sustained throughout the 4 quarters with Glencoe taking out a comfortable victory. Best for the week was Conway Johnson, Caleb Catena, Alex Lamb, Tyreese Newton, Daniel Fisher.

their best efforts to a tough Glencoe opposi on. At the conclusion of the B Grade the weather wasn’t looking promising, thankfully the weather gods took a li le pity and eased the weather up for the main game of the day. In a very ght start to the game where scoring was very tough, the Glencoe team worked hard to make sure it was tough and ght and took a very slender lead into the quarter me break. A er quarter me the A Grade boys kicked into gear and in the second quarter took control of the game to take a handy lead into the half me break. In the third Glencoe evened up the quarter but were unable to reduce the lead and in the last the boys were able to put the foot down and take away a very nice 60 point win. Best for the week was Jake Turner, Kev Thomson, Brandon Newton, Ben O’Dine, Tim Sullivan, Kyall McClean.

A Grade: Round 9 took the senior team to Glencoe a er a very good win the week before against the undefeated Hatherleigh. Tthe senior team needed to re-focus on the job and ensure all the good work wasn't undone by not bringing

Under 11: Another damp and slippery start to the day for the Under 11's. Both teams worked hard all game, to gain possession of the ball. When we delivered the ball to our team-mates, instead of blazing the ball away, some good results were achieved. Thank you to all the parents and Senior Colts who come out and help at trainings, the effort is really star ng to show on Saturdays. Awards went to: Intersport - Angus Maidment, Graham & Ange Award Zayley Vanderpeer, Angelino Family Award - Hunter Bingham, Coaches Award - Coby Brant, Club Award Toby Telford, Donut King - Dusty Cooper. Junior Colts: In what was probably the best condi ons of the day, it was a ba le for top spot, and the game lived up to expecta ons. Glencoe won the toss and kicked with the wind in the first and made plenty of the running. Our backline managed to hold up and was even at the break. 2nd quarter saw our young Hawks get their running game going and managed to kick away to have a comfortable break at half me. The remaining quarters were a real ba le of the defences, with neither side managing to get through to the goals, leaving it a low scoring game. The group got the job done, to set up the second half of the season in a good posi on, though s ll with plenty to work on in the coming weeks. Best players and awards went to Nate Von Stanke-Dowie - Rarcoola Structural Award, Blake Telford - The Rocks Shop Award, Rhys Newton Spot-On Fishing Award, Jobe Janeway - Mick Mullan Award, Jacob Gordon Coaches Award and Ryan Angelino Janeway Plumbing Award. A good way to turn at the halfway mark with the bye, and interleague, then onto Pt Mac, one of our biggest rivals in MSEFL. Senior Colts: A return to the winner's list, and very convincingly so. Thanks to the boys that jumped into an opposi on guernsey to make up the numbers. A team effort and solid four quarters is what we are aiming for, together with consistency, keep working together and the team has the poten al to go a long way. Mav Cooper con nued his fine form this season to take home the Ma hew's Petroleum Award. Kur s Lasle is

having a good season and was awarded the MT Wheels Award. Tyler Richardson's consistency earnt him the Swallow Drive Meats Award and Toby McKinnon in his first year of senior colts, played a ripper to get the Mick Mullan Award. Brodie Von Stanke-Dowie chipped in with 10 goals, and the Coaches Award, with Campbell Graney rounding out the best players and the Badenoch's Deli Award. Reserves: Not much to report from our game. The boys certainly tried hard, but Glencoe just wanted it more and executed their skills very well. We had some good patches but couldn't string it together long enough to put any real pressure on them. We did avoid the rain though. Always look at the posi ves! Dan Hann was excellent for the Commercial Hotel Award. Will Cameron won the Collins Court Butchers Award, Ma Maidment led from the front to take out the Pick Avenue Bakery & Deli Award, Joel Maconachie got plenty of the ball for the Club Tea Award and Trent McNamara played his last game before reloca ng to Victoria, really well and won the other Club Tea Award. Excellent performance by the A Grade helped the boys move on quickly, well done to Cam and the boys. A Grade: Great to get a win on the board, and in what was a strong team effort. Looking forward to ge ng players back from injury/Covid in the coming weeks, and hopeful of numbers se ling down and some consistency in available personnel coming into the second half of the season. successful country championships for msena senior side Mid South East senior side had a strong campaign only losing to KNT in the minor round. This saw them si ng second and take part in the A Grade semi final. They took on North Eastern Netball Associa on in the semi with strong games from Annie Hunter in the mid court and Halle Carter's speed and accuracy in the goal circle. Gaining a five goal lead in the first half set them up for a win, to have another crack at KNTNA in the Grand Final. Unfortunately KNT started strongly and pushed out to a four goal lead early. While the Mid South East girls struggled to se le, there were limited rebounding opportuni es by the KNT goalies. KNT con nued to apply pressure all over the court forcing MSE into errors and limi ng their opportuni es to score, eventually running out winners with a 13 goal lead. Emma Gould and Annie Hunter (pictured above) made the Seniors Country Championships Team of the Year. Round 1

CHLOE PFITZNER glencoe NETBall club

Glencoe Netball Club congratulates Chloe Pfitzner on playing her 150th club game this weekend. Chloe played her first compe ve game for Glencoe in 2014 as part of the 13 & Under side before joining the 15 & Under side the following year and featuring in trophy collec ons for the next few years. In 2015 and 2016 she won the 15 & Under R/Up Best & Fairest for the club, before taking the B&F honours in 2017 and 2018 as part of the 17 & Under team. She also collected the R/Up B&F in 2019 for 17 & Under. While Chloe is pre y quiet, she is keen to learn and always trying to improve her game. She is a strong defender who always puts her opponent under pressure and this year is a part of the A Grade side. Chloe has also put her hand up to co-coach the 13 & Under side this year and has a lot to offer the younger genera ons (even though she is only young herself). Well done Chloe and congratula ons!

Nangwarry will be looking to reduce the margin from the last me they came up against Tantanoola. Emma Gould's confidence would be high a er selec on in the 2022 Country Championships Senior Team of the Year. Nangwarry will need to shut her down if they are to achieve that goal. However, with Tantanoola having one of the more se led sides in the A Grade compe on Nangwarry may struggle to do this. Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe in defence for the Tigers will limit opportuni es to Tahlia Wilson and Ange Pra from Nangwarry, who are both accurate in the circle. Nangwarry's Hayley Burner will have a good tussle through the centre with Casey Walker, with both players having good drive to the ball and pressure down the court. Nangwarry will fight hard, however the Tigers will come away with the win.

HATHERLEIGH v MOUNT BURR Hatherleigh take on Mount Burr in what is set to be another close contest, with only three goals separa ng the sides in round one. Hatherleigh have taken the me to se le their line up, with Maddie Pulmer and Abby Wight combining well in the goal circle and allowing Maddie Redman to play back in her more familiar role of defence. Meg Fennell will have an interes ng tussle with Chelsea Galpin who will be returning to the court a er sustaining an ankle injury against Kongorong. Hatherleigh may u lise Tegan Telfer or Erin Watson in centre to curb Laura Schultz's influence on the game. Hatherleigh have many op ons in the defensive circle, and they u lise this to their advantage. The team whose goalies se les first will come away with the win.

GLENCOE v KALANGADOO

In conjunc on with

Glencoe take on Kalangadoo at home in the Mid South East Netball Match of the Round. Kalangadoo's line up has changed since the last me these two teams met, when Glencoe won by 27 goals. Abbey Duncan is combining well with youngster Kori Collins in the goal circle and being fed well by Jayde Peacock and Kirsty Egan. Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen will need to be at the top of their game as opportuni es for rebound will be limited. At the other end of the court, Glencoe have many goalie op ons with any of the following able to combine well, Jenna Paproth, Chantelle Cocks and Malinda Markiewicz. This game will go down to the wire and the result could go either way, with the margin being much closer this me around.

PORT MACDONNELL v KONGORONG Kongorong are on the improve and will take the game right up to Port MacDonnell. Tilah Buckingham, with her height and accuracy, is causing headaches for defenders across the Associa on. Kirby Carrison will be tasked with shu ng Buckingham down. However Port MacDonnell are also more se led than they were in round one, with Toni Gilmore's accuracy and experience gives her team confidence. Sarah Lucas is consistent in the defensive end for the Hawks and paired with Emily Lightbody's height could cause upsets for Port Mac's Gilmore and Brooke Williams. Liza Mutch has been a good pick up for the Bay with her fitness and speed through the mid court. Port MacDonnell's experience should get them over the line.

TANTANOOLA

NETball club notes Well that marks the halfway mark of the 2022 season. Congratula ons to all the football and netball teams who have been lucky to score wins and we hope that by the end of the 2022 season every team has tasted success. I hope those who are new are enjoying their season. Congratula ons to the 13 & Under, 15 & Under and B Grade for wins in Robe! The 15's managed to sneak back into the top 4 and we hope you con nue to get a few wins and make the finals. I would like to acknowledge the hard work of many of the netballers each week and thank them for their contribu on over the first half of the season. It is nice to be a part of a club when someone is struggling to see many people pitch in. Whether it is helping someone umpire, sell raffle ckets on the gate, look a er someone's children or play 2 to 3 games a week. This is what makes Nangwarry a great family club. Keep up the great work. Junior 2: Congratula ons on our best game girls, even with the cold and wet weather everyone put in 100%. You girls have listened and put in everything we've said into play. There was not much crowding to the ball which made our game a lot easier and be er passage of play with many goals scored! Thank you Keeley for filling in for us again! Best players: Madeleine - Fasta Pasta Award, Maddie - Pines Hotel Voucher. Junior 1: Excellent game li le Saints, everyone showed great defensive skills all down the court. Half way through the season and each week you are improving it's really pleasing to see. Looking forward to second half as your confidence and skills con nue to improve. Best player to Keeley - Fasta Pasta award, for trying new posi ons in goals and defence great moving in the ring 13 & Under: Great to finish first round of games with a win. In horrible condi ons all seven players had some great patches of play. Ella C again passed with pinpoint accuracy into the goalies and always been an op on for team mates. Ella S rebounded very well and was our main goal scorer. Ella S is always in the right posi on and creates many op ons, we just need to look for her more. Kaylee worked hard in defence and moved well when went in goals, rebounded strongly. James always gives 100% and con nues to grow in confidence. James started passing into goalies which is pleasing as we all knew he could do it. Paige had a ripper at WD ge ng many turnovers and drove ball out of defence well. Ruby listened and changed her game to improve in last half showing us what she is capable of. Skye was main focus in goal circle for first half and passing was great. When switched to defence was big difference

NETball club notes with limi ng Robe to one goal for the quarter to help secure us the win. Hope all enjoy the long weekend and see you all fresh to take on Tantanoola at home. 17 & Under: In terrible condi ons we all really stood up and played a good game girls. We had a few out also, but you all adjusted well to the 15 girls playing in our team and talked well to each other. We started off strong in the pouring rain and played with pa ence. When we all made leads and met the ball things looked great. Just remember we need to keep moving in front and not stand s ll to create more a acking op ons. Defence end worked hard turning over many balls. Centre area ran hard bringing ball down well, when we didn't force into goalies and passed ball around it worked well. Well done girls, let's keep building on this. Thanks to Kiara, Kaitlin and Scarle for helping out. Penola Recycling award to Montana for her strong game in the middle B Reserve: Was a cold and wet game but we didn't let that get to us too much. Everyone put in 100% and are making huge improvements as a team. I'm very pleased with how far we've already come and con nue to work. Best players Maxi Smith and Tamara Shepherd. B Grade: Congrats girls! We finally got the win we have been a er. We were down all game but we finally found that bit of guts I had been saying we needed to find to get the win! We have some things to work on like ge ng in front and passing but we should be proud and happy of our game. Defence worked hard to get the rebounds which was great to see. Let's keep going and let's get some more wins in this second round! Best players Bel Spink and Kate Clayfield. A Reserve: What a terrible day to play netball, but it's a winter sport I guess. We started off a bit slow in the first quarter took us a bit to get into it. When we worked ball around and were pa ent we looked amazing. We all can get pre y hard on ourselves when we make a mistake, just remember that's just part of the game and be more determined to work hard to get it back. Tamara and Taysha worked hard in the centre area moving the ball around well with some pa ence and waited for the goalies to get into posi on. Meighan and Cassie worked hard to create space for each other. Jemma, Shandeen, Hayley and Chrystal keep trying all game and turned the ball over well and drove out of defence hard. Girls probably our worse game for the season, but it was s ll not bad, we were due for it. Let's regroup and come our hard next game and get some more wins. A Grade: In cold and wet condi ons the girls came out strong, scoring the first 3 goals of the game which was fantas c to see. We had a great first half and everyone was matching up great against their opponents. We managed to bring the ball down the court well and everyone contested every opportunity. Robe got away from us in the 3rd quarter and we dropped our heads a bit. If you didn't know what the score was it seemed a very close game. Hats off to the girls for running it out in the cold and wet weather to finish the game off strong. Unfortunately didn't come away with the win but some promising passages of play and lots of improvement. Best players went to Kylie Heaver and Hayley Burner.

Junior 2: We were very lucky to have the sun out while our li lest Tigers played. Definitely not our best game, but 2 weeks off now to be able to refresh and come back and play brilliant like we have been. Awards went to Shelbi and Lidia, who con nue to give 110% every week. Junior 1: Awesome game against Mt Burr! Even though the girls got drenched, they never once stopped smiling and having fun. They had great control of the ball and remembered to steady themselves before passing especially when the court was slippery. The girls focused on coming in front for passes, looking a er the ball to score goals. They also had heaps of great intercepts all across the court, pu ng strong pressure over the ball. Renae received an award for her terrific work in the mid court and ge ng loads of intercepts. Kayleigh received an award for her great a acking abili es coming forward and always giving her best efforts. 13 & Under: On a very wet weekend we were really lucky to avoid the downpours during our game! Our first game all season with 9 players we kept the ball moving, unfortunately it s ll not making it down to our goal ring as much as we would like though. Girls you started the game with such a posi ve a tude, remember to keep it going even when games get tough! Tamika was very pa ent in goals ge ng a couple of a empts in, with the midcourt girls working busily to keep the ball moving but errors such as stepping caused simple turnovers. Alexis and Rachael were again strong in defence, Ebony playing a strong half in WD. The last quarter saw some changes with Payton moving into GA and Astyn coming on into GK for an impressive first quarter playing netball, gaining rebounds and intercepts. Awards went to Alexis (Shanks Engineering) for con nuing to run and not give up, and Astyn (Wendy's) for her excellent start to her netball journey. 15 & Under: We started a li le flat and took a while to get into the game maybe due to the very cold weather. At half me a er ge ng drenched we finally kicked into gear. We decided we wanted the ball and made some great turnovers. Unfortunately through mistakes we lost the ball again. We need to work on our a ack line looking a er the ball through ming, strong leads and passing. Fasta Pasta award went to Lailah for a consistent 4 quarters at GK, blocking her player, rebounding and ge ng hands to the ball. Shanks Engineering Award went to Isla for ge ng her hands up over the ball and driving the ball out of defence. 17 & Under: What a game girls. Unfortunately not the outcome we were a er but an incredible team effort nonetheless. You all played a strong hard 60 minutes of netball next performed under pressure in

the last quarter, good work girls! Ebs had a ripper game through the centre ge ng her hands to plenty of ball and running hard the whole game which earned her the Fasta Pasta award. Charlo e con nues to impress us each week and played a stellar game in GS, holding strong and shoo ng great. We had so much more of the ball and just need to look a er the ball and focus on the li le things. The second half of the season is ours for the taking. Nothing to lose - everything to gain. Let's go Tiges. B Reserve: What a tough game in very wet condi ons. We knew it was going to be hard having half of our side missing for the game but you all took on the challenge. We need to remember to adapt our game to the condi ons, this means shortening passes and mee ng the ball. Many thanks goes to our 17's Charlo e, Holly and Chloe for helping to fill our side. Best players went to Kimberley Ferguson who played a fantas c game steadied the game all the way down the court. Also to Chloe Taylor who stepped up from under 17s to play a great game in goals. Let's rest up over the break and come out firing in the second round. Go Tiges! B Grade: Another game where things just didn't fall our way. Gemmah and Kim did a great job crea ng turnovers but we struggled to capitalise on them. We need to play a more pa ent and controlled game in a ack if we want to stay compe ve in games. Let's come back refreshed a er a week off and work hard on structures at training. Tant 23 - Mt Burr 29. Best players Gemmah (Lima & Co) and Kim (Tant Meal Voucher). A Reserve: Our game was played in some pre y wet condi ons so great job to you girls for playing in weather like that. We worked well together. We s ll need some work to do on some small things but that's something we will get be er at. Just remember when we play like a team, keep our heads held up and back each other up we are a very strong compe ve team. This brings us to the end of the first round, we know what games we need to be stronger at for the second round. Rest up for a week off, enjoy the long weekend and let's stay focussed for the rest of the season. Best Danni Vanderheul Fasta Pasta voucher and Ella Clarke Lima and Co voucher. A Grade: Good job girls! It was great to see everyone put in 100% and do their job. Kate and Tay, you two worked so well together and got so many ps that we were able to score off of. Kristy you played a solid games once again and it's so nice to see your drive all over the court. Madi and Casey you worked well together in a ack and worked hard all game to get it in to Em who shot so well. Awards went to Emma Millicent Somerset and Madi Millicent Indian.

Junior 2: A solid effort by everyone. I love that we used lots of shoulder passes and tried passing to the person who was in front. We are beginning to create space in the a ack line and are having vision for each other. Defensively we worked hard to chase the loose balls and get our hands up and over the ball. Great job girls. Awards: Charlo e Chambers (Macca's), Violet Fitzgerald (HLC). Junior 1: We faced our toughest game of the season so far against Kalangadoo. We quickly learnt that throwing over defence was not going to work and had to get into the front posi on. The wet condi ons meant the girls had to pass strong and short. When we used our circle and cut front, we began working the ball into the goalies beau fully. Our rebounding was fierce, giving us another shot and denying them a second chance at goal. It was great to see the team build quarter by quarter, adjus ng to the condi ons and to the opposi on. It was an impressive display of teamwork, never le ng our heads drop and facing each quarter with a smile. Well done girls. Awards: Leyla Marshall (Denton Sportspower), Alirah Bowman (HLC), Livvi Faulkner (Maccas). 13 & Under: Tough condi ons, playing against strong compe on. Defensively we fought hard and created plenty of turnovers, unfortunately we weren't able to capitalise on these. We need to drive strongly to the ball and pass to the space. Awards: Olivia Beggs (Macca's), Poppy Fitzgerald (Corner Clip), Sienna Clark (HLC). 15 & Under: Definitely not our day against the strong Magpie unit, we kept trying to the final whistle but suffered a heavy loss. When something is not working, we need to react quicker and make smarter decisions. We know we can do be er so with a lot of hard work let’s get together and focus on our game. Kalli worked hard in goals with limited opportuni es, the move to centre definitely gave us more drive. Niah worked hard both ends of the court and Deni's second half was solid in defence. Heads up, work hard and let's bounce back against the Mozzies. Awards: Deni Brown (Java Café), Kalli Ne le (HLC). 17 & Under: A very disappoin ng turn around from a strong game last round. We lost our fight, determina on, and drive. Our teamwork was not on, and it really showed. Our goalies were very accurate, but we struggled feeding effec vely. Awards: Imogen Nowak (Java Café), Dakota Hateley (HLC). B Reserve: On what was the wildest wintery condi ons we have played in so far, we came up against a strong Kalangadoo. The game was fairly even all game to be down by 4 leading into the last quarter to finish the game going down by 1 showing a lot of determina on and fight. We played well as a team and we had lots of good passages of play, we need to focus on the posi ves, yes there is s ll a lot of hard work in front of us, but as

a team we will back each other up and con nue to work on our team goals going into the second quarter. Huge thank you to Kez for bench coaching with me, I know I have said it before but your guidance and knowledge is invaluable. Huge thank you to Sarah for coming home from Adelaide in me to score for us. Thank you to Jo and Amy who were both out with either an injury or being unwell for ming and being PC. We look forward to having you back in the next game. Awards: Staci Faulkner (Somerset Hotel), Sally Bateman (Demi Rose Hairdressing), Sally Bateman (HS&RC), Grace Abbot (Kelsey Wight Fitness). B Grade: We knew it was going to be a tough game, but it makes it harder when we don't play our best. This was also the first week we've had everyone available since round 3 so it took some me adjus ng! We had a very slow start with the first quarter doing the damage, but our second half was much be er, and we were even for the last quarter. Everyone worked super hard for the game, and we s ll have lots of posi ves to walk away with and a lot learnt. The defence end with G, Ella, Meg and Soph had a massive task with a very strong goals combo, but they fought hard to the end and s ll got us turns. The a ack end was working really hard with Charlie, Hayley, Paris, Nat, Ellie and Jas but was struggling with Kalangadoo's defence. We had some great patches of play which is just going to get be er. It’s always disappoin ng to have a loss but let's learn from this girls, re-group and con nue to build. Awards: Ella Major (Somerset Hotel), Nat Chambers (Sassi), Sophie Gibbs (HS&RC). A Reserve: With the wet weather finally se ng in, we needed to play smart netball if we were going to win. It wasn't the best game, we were unse led for most of the first quarter. We need to play our own game, use the easy op ons, and come forward. Helen came off with a strained calf halfway through the second quarter and Sarah took to the court at WD. The defence of Millie, Sarah and Lucy Chant worked over me to keep us in the game, but we made too many forced errors and Kalangadoo made us pay, scoring on them. There were some posi ves but there is s ll plenty to work on. Let's work hard and take it into our next game. Awards: Lucy Corman (HS&RC), Lucy Chant (Somerset Hotel), Millie Smith (Kelsey Wight Fitness). A Grade: Disappoin ng to end up going down by 10 a er leading at every change. We really lost our way in the last quarter being outscored 187. A heavy fall to Tegan seemed to ra le us and we were unable to regain our composure. Abby con nues to be a focal point in goals, teaming well with Maddie P. Tegan was arguably BOC for 3 quarters and worked her bu off all over the court. Plenty of posi ves to take away and the knowledge that against the top teams 60 minutes is needed to take the points. Awards: Tegan Telfer (Somerset Hotel), Abby Wight (Sassi).

Thanks to our major sponsors Laura & Vicki Hairdressing, South East Property Sales, Kimberly Clark Australia, Your Choice Conveyancing, Banner Mitre 10, J&M Shanks Pty Ltd, Sonya Francis Photography, All in Balance - Brad Tilley Tax and Business Advisory, Clark & Sam Fal ng and Komma Media. Junior 2: We were against Tant, they definitely put the girls to the test and challenged them when it came to minor things such as chasing up the ball and strong passes. The girls s ll played a fantas c game and I con nue to be impressed with their skills and the happy faces that show up each week. Junior 1: The girls played a great game considering the tough weather condi ons! They kept there heads up and wanted that ball every centre pass and turnover! The girls are bringing in what we learn at training on to the court, there has been so many improvements and amazing play done by the girls! Thanks again to Sydniee for filling in on Saturday again. Best player went to Emily (Subway). 13 & Under: Well done girls, I think we had the best of the weather for the day. Our court play is ge ng be er with every week, we are looking down court with our passing and are aware of each other on the court. Taking our me in passing and hi ng a target is looking good and also passing under pressure. We are training hard and it is paying off on game day. Today will test us against Hatherleigh, let’s come out firing and keep pu ng in prac se what we do at training. Thanks to Dawn for umpiring, Amy for scoring and also our team manager Tess. Awards: Subway Sabina, Fasta Pasta - Stella. 15 & Under: A good game coming away with a win in atrocious weather condi ons! Rain or shine we s ll go out and give it our best. Well done with our transi oning down the court, it's ge ng much be er, along with defensive throw ins. We just need to keep up the talk and communicate with one another. Awards went to Sara - Subway (awesome shoo ng for your first me in there!) and Kodie Acky’s for constantly taking back feedback and applying it to the game. Thank you Stacey for umpiring and Allan for scoring. 17 & Under: The girls had an exci ng close game, coming away with a 1 goal win. We had to adjust our game due to the weather condi ons. The girls had many good passages of play and is star ng to implement what we have been working on at trainings, which is great to see. Thank you Lisa for umpiring and Danny for scoring. The award went to Jarrah Altschwager (Subway). B Reserve: Good job girls, we played in terrible condi ons and it took us a while to adapt to the condi ons. We were undermanned right at the start of the game with 2 of our defence out for the game, but well done to all the girls for stepping and taking on those roles. This is the first game for the season we played in these condi ons, which is only a posi ve for our game.

We will need to be on our best game today against Hatherleigh, just keep playing our team game and keep up the great support we have for each other. Thanks to our baby of the team Macy for filling in, our ever reliable scorer Wayne and Madi for umpiring. Awards: Since Fi y Six - Karen and Beauty by Brianna - Faith. B Grade: 3 in a row! Let's go B girls! Another tough week with 4 of our players out but we fought hard and came out on top. Great to see a lot of defensive pressure all over the court and there were some great turnovers to help cement the win. We dipped a bit in the third but thanks to Dawn with some posi ve support from the sidelines, we were able to pull it back in the fourth and get a good win. Tess ran well in centre, and MacKenzie, and Abbey, both filled in and helped out in centre court. Maddi and Gemma worked well together, moving the ball around the circle and scoring well. Another great defensive game by Jaz, Lara, and Stacey. Big efforts resulted in a lot of hands over the ball. Awards to Lara for Melzar's and Maddi for Enchanted Beauty. Thank you to Karen for si ng bench, Larissa for team managing, Leah for umpiring and Sally for scoring. Let's start round 2 with a win! A Reserve: Wow girls what a game! You played your absolute best netball in torren al rain. You all went back and took your me and looked a er that ball. You fought back to be only 1 goal down at 3qtr me. In the end only going down by 3 goals, let’s get that win next me. Fantas c effort by all 7 on the court. Thank you Heidi for si ng on the bench. Enjoy the week off and let’s hit the court running for the second half of the rounds. Awards: Kelly - Ducky Surf and Zoe Enchanted Beauty. Thanks Carol for scoring and Raelene as my right hand lady! A Grade: Once again this wasn't the result we were looking for. The combina on of poor weather that doesn't align well to our teams strengths, and a different line-up on court, meant that we struggled to find our feet early in the match. Despite the slow start, accurate shoo ng from Eb and Madi in the goal circle saw us bring back the margin in the first. Unfortunately, we couldn't maintain this work ethic throughout the remainder of the match and allowed Tantanoola to progressively build their lead. Our mid court fought hard providing some strong drives down court however Tantanoola's pressure was too strong on many occasions, and caused us to make plenty of unforced errors, which ul mately cost us. Defensively Oliva and Heidi built across the match, posi oning well to take in a number of mely intercepts. Let's con nue to work hard at training and shi our moment in the second half of the season. Thanks to McKenzie for si ng bench. Heaven on a hanger Award went to Olivia Dean and Beauty by Hannah Award went to Heidi Guye . A big thank you to Lisa for umpiring, Nicole for scoring and Tanya for being our primary carer.

Junior 2: What a great game everyone and we managed to miss the rain as well. I think this was everyone’s best individual game and team effort so far, it was great to see so many leads, intercepts and calls for the ball. Metalworx Award went to Indiannah for doing great movement at GS and ge ng her first goal for the season! Lico Award went to Mia for great movement, front cuts and leads. Again everyone should walk away with a massive smile as you all played so well! Junior 1: Great game girls. We really made the effort to come in front for the pass and use our voices. Eddie Kuhl Tyres Award went to Annabelle for some great defensive pressure con nually through the whole game. Second best went to Jaz for playing an outstanding game and applying everything from training. Let’s go out again and play hard today a er having the week off. 13 & Under: 20-42. Amazing game girls! Unfortunately, we didn't come away with the win but everyone put in 100% which was amazing. Khloe Philips had a fantas c game running in WA, then ge ng put into WD for the last quarter which earned her the Dycer Construc on Award. Second best went to Layla for her efforts of running in centre for the whole game, with ge ng intercepts which allowed for a chance for the ball to be scored. Coming away from this game there will be things for us to improve on at training. 15 & Under: 40-55. Another great team effort from everyone but unfortunately we couldn't get the win. It was a great start to the game with lots of pressure from everyone, but unfortunately Jorja took a nasty fall and was taken away to hospital. Everyone adjusted quickly to the changes which was great to see and there was lots of touches from everyone down the court. Maloney Plumbing Award went to Maddy, you never gave up, stayed nice and strong, got a lot of turnovers and was always there for a back up pass. 2nd best went to Alyssa, you played GS amazingly and was a helpful voice to everyone, great holding and good pressure. 17 & Under: 26-42. Very posi ve game girls! We knew it was going to be a tough game against the top team. The score line doesn't reflect how well you all played and how close it was all game. We were right in the game un l the last few minutes when unfortunately a few errors crept in which let the other team run away with the game but overall its really great to see the girls improvement each week and know that we are heading in the right direc on! Giaan got the DeGaris Lawyers award for her hand pressure over the ball that was

NETball club notes amazing, her constant driving down the court and always being an op on was excellent. Second best went to Chelsea who picked up a lot of great intercepts and con nues to be a strong leader on the court. B Reserve: 45-54. Bad luck girls. We had a great first 3 quarters and then unfortunately went down in the last quarter. There are many posi ves to take away from our start and if we can play out a full four quarters, we will be in with a chance this week. With a few different posi ons played again, everyone adapted well and played their best. Julia played a great second half in goal shooter - shoo ng some great long bombs and earnt herself the Key 2 Sale Award. Lauren also played well to get second best. B Grade: 59-36. What a great game! It was so good to finally hit the court with nearly a full team. Max (Planta on Treated Timber Award) shot extremely well, rebounded at every opportunity and converted to earn best player. She was well supported by Dom who shut her player down from the first whistle and con nued for the whole game to get second best. Every player played extremely well which was great to see, especially a er we have had so many different lineups and teams each week. It was a pleasure to coach and as always I'm extremely proud of you all - let’s keep it up! Go Murphies. A Reserve: 60-32. Top effort girls. Firstly Zoe thank you again and such a fantas c effort - your drive and constant re-offering was outstanding and held your own all game (B&P Travel and Cruise Award). Abbie and Laura great working together and your accuracy was on point. Laura great job in drawing the players away making space for Abbie. Jessie and Sam well done - you both drove well all game with so many touches in defence which we were able to capitalise on. Excellent team effort again girls - very impressive to see the growth each week. Have a good rest this week and hopefully we will have our full side for one game soon. A Grade: 58-38. Yay our first win at home! Fantas c effort girls. I was really pleased with our full court effort in defence. We s ll have some work to do to improve on our combina ons throughout the court but it is great to see what we are heading in the right direc on. We came out with a much greater intensity and really pushed hard early to set ourselves up for the win, which was a pleasing turnaround to some of our previous games. Congratula ons to Donna (O'Brien Electrical Award) on playing your 250th game for the club, you had a ripper as always for first best. Chantelle had a great game ge ng plenty of hand to ball for second best. Wonderful feeding by Ashlea and fantas c driving out of defence by Chloe. Good job Jenna and Mal for being able to se le against their ght pressure and push out the game. Thank you to Chelsea and Laura for si ng bench and Nic and Sienna for the late call up to do the ming. Let’s train hard over the next few weeks and come out strong for the second round!

Junior 2: Our mini magpies have done it again! Congratula ons on another amazing game, and a lot of improvement, it was a great game to watch. With a tough ask ahead and the bare 7 yet again, we have to thank Harper and Ella for benching and filling in when needed. As for our newest magpies, we had Gracie ge ng best on for another solid performance, and Adele really showing so much improvement and poten al ge ng second best. With lots of goals and lots of great transi ons down the court, the mid court showed a lot of maturity and some strong passes. We just have a li le bit more improving to do, to get in front when we have tall players. I heard a lot of voice and people pu ng names on the ball, which was great to hear. We have a welldeserved break, so rug up and let's train hard, and have fun! Junior 1: Our li le J1's had their work cut out for them. Hatherleigh were strong and tall and all our li le magpies had to fight for every netball. There was some good passing, and our front cu ng did get be er as the day went on. We have a bit of stepping and rebounding to work on but was pleased to see that everyone kept trying and smiling (mostly). Ashley - Coke and chocolate, TeKani - Baker’s Delight. 13 & Under: Another pleasing performance from “our girls” par cularly that they are now recognising what they need to work on individually. A team effort resulted in a very comfortable win. Awards to Molly (Maccas), Ava (Kaboom) and Kiersten (Devine Gi s). 15 & Under: An excellent win girls in cold and wet weather. We con nued to push and try and keep the intensity. I think we can keep working on pu ng some more pace on our passes and provide more than one op on down the court. Georgia (Wendy's) had a great game with ght checking defence all game and got her hands to lots of balls and was supported well by Maya and Ash. Shayden and Tegan combined beau fully in the goal circle and was fed well by Molly (Paradise Pizza) and Chloe (Subway). 17 & Under: A great team game girls. It was pleasing to see you all keep calm in the last quarter and make sure of your passes. Kori (Boost) was available all game working well with Allara, making great posi on and shoo ng

accurately. Jenna (Paradise Pizza) had a solid game at WA providing plenty of op ons and combined will with Soph to feed our goalies well. All over the court we had good defensive pressure and Soph, Eb and Savannah made some mely intercepts! Congratula ons on your win girls. B Reserve: It seems the flu has taken over from Covid in our team with several players unwell! Thanks to Emily, Rhianna and Meg for helping us out of a s cky situa on. First quarter a shocker but, we regrouped with the bench help. What was most pleasing was all “regular players or those le standing” were able to hold on for a narrow victory in the last quarter. Awards to Chelsea (Birdie Blue) and Sam. B Grade: Kalangadoo come out strong in the first quarter giving them a great lead at the first break. Goalers Gina and Rhianna proved to be a problem for the defenders with accurate shoo ng supported well by Isabelle in WA and Imogen in C. Mid court of Isabelle and Imogen through to the defence of Meg and Emily combined well crea ng many turnovers. Steph hi ng the court in GD crea ng pressure to turn some balls over. Emily made sure there was no easy pass into the a ack line and turned over anything she could. The training in specific areas is star ng to be seen constantly throughout the game. Best: Schultzy - Shelton’s Butchers, Meg - Intersport. A Reserve: We had a li le bit of a slow start in the A Res and were met with a strong and tall Hatherleigh opposi on. By the second quarter Shanen and Shanae had found their rhythm and were capitalising on every mistake made. It took a while for the a ack to convert the opportuni es that we had but with the second half came a new burst of energy. Lucy slid back into the team with ease and got into a good groove with Estella. It was a difficult day for shooters generally with wet and slippery condi ons but a er the rain stopped, they were on fire. Good job on a tough day girls. Shanen Pulkkinen - Shanae Neale - St Mary's Gin. A Grade: Well done team for persis ng for 4 quarters to come away with the win. Some great pa ence in a ack and high work rate in defence. First half of the season done! Thanks to Shan and Estella for your support. Best players Abbey (Boost) and Kirsty (Collins Butchers).

port macdonnell NETball club notes Junior 2: You girls are improving each and every week. Which is really star ng to show as we are able to bring the ball down a lot easier. We just need to start using our voices and calling for the ball. First best Zaria who is standing up and is showing to be a leader as she is able to help the younger ones (Wendy's). Second best was Eliza, you are really star ng to come out of your shell. Well done girls! Junior 1: A great game girls. Every week I'm seeing huge improvements for everyone. Our passing and finding space was a lot be er. We s ll need to remember to draw our opponents away and come back to the ball. Daisee showed some very strong passes at throw ins making the play flow smoothly down court and was awards with a Wendy's voucher. Lucy was everywhere this week with lots of intercepts and running in the middle. She was awarded the Fasta Pasta award. Keep working hard at trainings girls. 13 & Under: Well done girls, last game before the break and we went out hard. It's great to see that we all look like we wanna be out there and give our best and that's exactly what we did. It was wet and cold and we worked together to get it from end to end and adjus ng to the weather. There is s ll a lot to work on but we have improved so much since the start of the season, our posi ve talk on the court helps each other get in and have a crack. Coming into the second round we will really start to work on court structure. Enjoy the week off girls and relax and get ready to go into the second round figh ng and wan ng to reach out goal. Best players went to Ivy Wilson (Fasta Pasta) and Isla Fulham (Fasta Pasta). Awesome game girls - keep up the great work. 15 & Under: Condi ons were extremely wet and cold, girls passes for lobs were on point, channelling was also good using the right passages. Girl could work on coming forward maybe we could work more on this at training. More on court cha er (communica on) as they no ced this themselves and improve it in the last quarter. Ruby played an awesome game - outstanding effort in goals; Tia played a great game and improved her footwork. 17 & Under: We adjusted well to

kongorong NETball club notes

mul ple changes that were made girls and that is something to be proud of. Well done on con nuing to fight and extend that lead. As a team we need to work on being prepared, and adjust to our players. Our goal from here is to work on coming out hard and figh ng from the first whistle and play strong first quarters like we know you all can. B Reserve: Good control of the ball in our game ladies. It's our backing up, persistence to driving out of defence and into a ack that gave us the win! Keep up the posi ve talk and support for each other on the court. Awards thanks - Shipwreck Bistro voucher (Victoria Hotel) and Pick Ave Bakery to players Ashton Jones and Robyn Hill. B Grade: As a team we learnt a lot. We have to have a strong focus and control what we can control. We can't let the things we can't control interrupt our focus. We need to play for each other and trust we have each other’s back. Everyone needs to focus on their jobs and give 100%. We need to improve and tweak on a few li le things. We had some really good passages of play which look spectacular. It was great to see the connec on between Jess and Elivia working well together. Candice worked relessly to posi on herself on the circles edge to deliver the ball with precision. Defensively Brooklyn, Rachel and Ranga combined well to shot down their opponents. As a team we need to treasure our turnovers and score our own. Brooklyn you are doing a great job and are playing far beyond your years. A great job. Candice Merre - Shipwreck Bistro Victorian Hotel Port MacDonnell, Brooklyn Jones Taylor Made Hair and Beauty & Sweets and Treats. A Grade: Not the best game we've played together girls. Unfortunately it looked like we didn't want to be out on the court, we had no talk or want for the ball. We knew it was going to be tough but to play how we did was disappoin ng. Let's forget about that game, have a break and regroup coming into the second round and get back to playing our own game. Well done to Lara Wilson who stepped up and played a good game in GS, you have lots of poten al and I am excited to see you hit the court for A's more and more. Best - Jess Trench and Narelle Lewis.

Junior 1: Great work all around the court from the Junior 1's. Zoe in defence was intercep ng the balls while Flick found the goals. Havvi moved great in the circle while Isabelle's defence on the wing was unstoppable in some parts. It was great to have Zayley back in the team a er injury. Claire showed her flexibility in a ack and defence. Great work all-round girls! Best players: Lily - Boost Juice, Claire $5 and Isabelle $5 Kongorong Canteen voucher. 13 & Under: You fought really hard all game girls against a tough opposi on. Thanks to Sophie and Holly for filling. See you all at training Thursday night. Awards: Paige - Hungry Jacks and Gre a Crave Dessert Bar. 15 & Under: Great game girls with everyone pu ng in 100% there was some great passages of play but we s ll need to watch our footwork and some of our passing. Thank you to the u/13 for filling in for us. Awards: Kongorong Canteen voucher Thalia and Hungry Jacks Holly. 17 & Under: Great job girls! A cracker first quarter and a buffer to start the game gave us the opportunity to run away with the win. Great defensive pressure all over the court and we were able to capitalise on that hard work on the scoreboard. Awesome to be able to come away with the win, now let's take this momentum into the second half of the season. Best went to Evie (Fasta Pasta) and Jasmin (Hungry Jacks). B Reserve: A much be er game against Glencoe girls. We started slow in the first half finding our feet with some new pairings and posi ons. Our second half was much be er and we found our rhythm and shot well. Our centre court was much more open which helped with ge ng the ball

down the court. We were also ge ng in front a lot be er for passes. Keep up the hard work at training and it will show in our games on weekends. Awards: Tamika Lima & Co and Alisha - Fi h & Madison. B Grade: Well that was not our best game. We need to look down the court and keep our passes short in wet weather! Let's rest up over the next 2 weeks, ready to come back and smash the second half of the season. Good work girls. Commersh Award went to Maddie Bowd and Fasta Pasta Award went to Emalee Stokker. A Reserve: A great start to keep the game even. Defence adjus ng and ge ng some great touches. To keep in touch with the game we need to work on how to make sure we capitalise on the turnovers our defensive play creates for us. Let's hit training this week hard and work on combina ons and communica on. Rest up and come ready for round two! Awards from Vanity & Evolve Hair to Heidi, Zara and Megan. A Grade: Bad luck girls, poor condi ons made the game difficult from the get go but we were able to work towards that four consistent quarters we have been aiming for. Everyone put in a 100% effort regardless of posi on and gave us the opportunity to try some new combos. A ack is flowing well, defence worked over me and there were passages of play that show real promise for the second half of the season. Thanks once again to Elite Supps Mount Gambier for providing us with our game day fuel. Best went to Rach (Fasta Pasta) and Emily (Vanity). Thank you to Elite Supplements for being our game day sponsors for the Glencoe home game!

ROUND 9 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW Glencoe 58 def Port MacDonnell 38 A er a rainy day, the skies cleared for the Round 9 clash between Glencoe and Port MacDonnell. With both teams si ng on four wins and three losses there was a statement to be made about who was hungrier for a top four posi on. Both teams came out strong defensively, with Glencoe's Sarah Edwards intercep ng the first centre pass and the Bay's Alana Winter ge ng hand to ball on the second. The Murphies were able to se le quicker and adjust to the decep ve hands of the Port Mac defenders. Glencoe's Donna Jaeschke was able to find the circle with ease in her 250th game milestone and led the Murphies to a 6 goal advantage at the first break. The Bay's a acking line was able to link up more fluently in the second quarter, but some early inaccurate shoo ng allowed Glencoe's Chantelle Cocks opportunity on the rebound. Port Mac's Winter and Belinda O'Dine con nued to work hard in their defensive circle, not giving the Glencoe goalie combina on of Jenna Paproth and Malinda Markiewicz an inch. Markiewicz unfazed by the increased a en on ne ed 11 of the Murphies 14 goals for the quarter and increased their lead by 4 goals at half me. Port Mac came out of the main break having reshuffled their en re team in an a empt to claw back the 10 goal score line. Winter and youngster Lara Wilson moved into the shoo ng circle, pushing Brooke Williams into the centre and giving Kirby Carrison the GK bib. Glencoe jumped on the opportunity to put away the unse led line up, with Markiewicz and Paproth now being able to find the post with greater ease. Winter did her best to swing back the momentum for her team but ght defensive pressure from Cocks and Edwards kept them to only 7 goals, while Glencoe piled on 16 for the quarter. The final quarter saw a much ghter contest with play going goal for goal for the majority. Jaeschke con nued to be dominant through the middle for the Murphies and linked well with Ashlea Edwards to deliver easy ball into the Glencoe goalies. Winter con nued to fight hard for the Bay receiving plenty of ball in their a acking third, but the defensive pressure con nued to come from the Murphies. The Bay put out a strong performance only going down by 1 in the final quarter, but it was too li le too late with Glencoe running out 20 goal winners on their home court. Best players - Glencoe: Donna Jaeschke and Chantelle Cocks; Port MacDonnell: Narelle Lewis and Jess Trench.

Hatherleigh 41 lost to Kalangadoo 51 The game started off strong with both sides scoring off their centre pass and going goal for goal for all of the first term. Wet and windy condi ons saw many errors arise in which both sides were able to convert. There were ght matches up all over the court which set the scene for a high intensity game with both sides going to the first break 12 all. Going into the second quarter both sides

remained unchanged and came out strong. Kalangadoo upped the defensive pressure all over the court and Hatherleigh responded with pa ence and were able to work the ball down and convert. The mid court matchup between Jayde Peacock and Tegan Telfer started to ramp up, whilst Hatherleigh's Abby Wight and Maddie Pulmer were combining well and were able to find good space and convert easily. Kalangadoo's Abbey Duncan was a focal point for the Pies, using her speed and accuracy, she was supported well by Kristy Egan and Jayde Peacock around the circle edge. There were ght tussles with all the wings on the transverse lines between Georgia Hunter and Sophie Wrightson as well as Kristy Egan and Lara MacGregor. Hatherleigh seemed to be in control and took a 1 goal lead going into the main break 25-24. There were no changes to either side going into the third term, by now both sides were ge ng desperate to break away. Every ball was so ghtly contested, a heavy fall to Tegan Telfer mid-way during the third term saw a short break in the game, before play resumed. The intensity of the game once again li ed, a rolled ankle around the circle edge to youngster Sophie Wrightson saw her leave the court. Reanna Wetherall took the WD posi on and Shanen Pulkkinen switched into circle defence with Kain. The third term saw another even scoring quarter by both sides with 9 goals each, taking the score of 34-33 in favour of the home side. The final term saw the momentum swing and Kalangadoo took control, Sophie Wrightson re-entered the game back in at WD and combined well with Jayde Peacock to apply plenty of pressure to the home side. Errors started to creep into the Eagles' last quarter which saw Kalangadoo jump and convert fast. Hatherleigh worked relessly to peg back the score line, but it was too late. A er being in control and leading for 3 quarters the home side couldn't hang on which saw Kalangadoo run away and win by 10. Best players - Hatherleigh: Tegan Telfer and Abby Wight; Kalangadoo: Abbey Duncan and Kristy Egan.

Robe 66 def Nangwarry 29 What a wet and wild day! We were lucky to only get a down pour towards the end of the game. Nangwarry came out strong, scoring the first 3 goals of the game and pu ng lots of pressure on, all over the court, which made it hard for Robe to get a score on the board. A er the first 5 minutes Robe found their feet, working out how to play to the condi ons, by slowing down the pace and coming forward to meet the ball. With some inaccurate shoo ng from Nangwarry, Robe were in front by 6 goals at quarter me. The second quarter saw some great circle work by Robe's goalies, with Tori Gluyas and Sarah Laurie moving well and shoo ng accurately, scoring 20 goals for the quarter. Nangwarry's goalies Tahlia Wilson and Ange Pra also shot accurately, only missing one goal between them for the quarter. However, Robe stepped it up a notch and really

capitalised on their turnovers, being in front by 16 goals at half me. Once again in the third quarter Robe kept building on their lead, with some great defensive pressure from Georgia Perkins and Ellen Ramke, making the most of any rebound they could get and picking off lots of balls at any opportunity. However, Ramke came off half way through the quarter with an injury and Kimberley Aus n taking the court for Robe. With some more great shoo ng from Robe's Tori Gluyas, shoo ng some long bombs, they were in the lead by 27 at three quarter me. The last quarter saw Robe's Ellen Ramke come back on in defence. With some horizontal rain, it made it hard for the goalies in both teams, with some low scoring and inaccurate shoo ng. With Robe scoring 15 for the quarter and Nangwarry only scoring 5. To Robe's credit they played a solid 4 quarters of netball, with lots of pressure all over the court and capitalised on their turnovers, coming away winners by 37 goals. Best players - Robe: Tori Gluyas and Ellen Ramke; Nangwarry: Kylie Heaver and Hayley Burner.

Tantanoola 59 def Mt Burr 47 Mt Burr won the toss and chose the centre pass which they u lised well through Ebony Clark who put her sides first score on the board. The Tigers responded much the same through Emma Gould who wasn't was ng any me with the ball and shot her first goal for the game. The quarter went goal for goal with both sides not giving an inch and went into the first break with just a goal separa ng the two sides. Neither side made changes going into the second quarter and the first half of it was much like the first. It was the Tigers who were able to turn ball over with some impressive hands over pressure in the goal circle by Tayla Rowe and taking some crucial rebounds which the Tigers were able to convert and gave their side confidence coming into the half me break with a six goal lead 31-25. The premiership quarter didn't disappoint with both sides figh ng hard for every ball. Meg Fennell and Zoe Brown were able to move the ball quickly in a ack and found each other on circle edge despite the efforts of the Tiger's midcourt defence, Kristy Varcoe and Madi Kelly, who made each possession hard. A very even quarter by both sides which showed very li le change on the score board going into the final term 44-37. The Tigers came out firing in the final quarter with intent to score quickly through Gould. Casey Walker on the wing found space on circle edge with every ball contested by Mt Burr's Simone Westerman but was able to find a good connec on with her goalies. Mt Burr's Olivia Dean tried to shi momentum for her side with some crucial ps but Bromley and Rowe down the other end had the same idea. Both sides ba led hard all game, but it was the Tigers who took the points with a twelve goal win 59-47. Best players - Tantanoola: Madison Kelly and Emma Gould; Mt Burr: Olivia Dean and Madison Hagge .
