VIEW FROM THE HILL In what could've been a very ordinary June winters day, the weather gods played the game and kept us all dry on the weekend. The wind chill factor was another story, but beggars can't be choosers. Down at the Bay it was all over at ¼ me as the home side, kicking with a 2-3 goal breeze broke the game open boo ng 9-2 to Glencoe's 2pts in the opening term. The second quarter was an even affair with both sides kicking four goals apiece and the Glencoe defenders having to work over me to limit Port MacDonnell's scoring opportuni es. A er half me Port MacDonnell picked up where they le off and recorded a further 13 goals for the half. Likewise for Glencoe they also finished with another 4 goals to their tally. Final scores saw Port MacDonnell victors by 115pts. Port MacDonnell's tall brigade were no match for the Murphies, there was too many of them to match up on. Will McDonald played his first game for the Bay on a wing, but wasn't seen a er half me. Let's hope that the coaching staff were just res ng him and there were no ill effects to his comeback game. A concerning incident late in the final quarter to a young Glencoe player meant that eventually the game had to be abandoned with 8 minutes le on the clock. I'm sure we all wish the player a speedy recovery. Port MacDonnell's tall forward brigade led by Dylan Bromley kicked 7 goals, and Tim Sullivan chipped in with 6. Port MacDonnell's other mul ple goal kickers were Ma Stark with 5 (or should that be Kevin Thomson?), Daron McElroy 3 and Brandon Newton 2. For Glencoe Dylan Childs led the way with 3 and Alex Hentschke and Jack Edmonds both kicking 2. Be er players for Port MacDonnell went the way of Mark Smith, Jacob Langdon, Bromley, Stark, Sullivan and McElroy. For Glencoe Childs and Patrick Mitchell were their only four quarter contributors followed by Jake Blackwell, Dane Paproth, Brodie Glynn and Jack Miller. Over at Mt Burr and the home side enjoyed a 10 goal win over Kongorong. It was Mt Burr who was able to u lise possession early in the opening term, recording a 5-2 to 2-3 quarter. The second term was a much more even affair with only 1 goal kicked for its en rety that went the way of the home side to give them a 26pt buffer at the long break. Mt Burr were able to extend their lead slightly in the third quarter heading into the last. Mt Burr completely overpowered their opponents in the final quarter to run out eventually winners by 61pts. Jack Gregory for Mt Burr led the goal kickers with 4 with Tom Hales 3 and Nathan Muhovics 2 the home sides mul ple goal kickers. For Kongorong their only mul ple goal scorer was John Simkin with 2. Tyler Stanley was awarded best for Mt Burr followed by Josh Fiebig, Andrew Ridley, Brad Sco , Bailey Poulish and Gregory. For Kongorong Michael Waters was their stand out player for the day, with Marty Von Stanke, Ma Weistra, Harry
Evans Brad Long also named in the Hawks best. In the clash of the red and whites it was the Robe visitors that took home the chocolates to the tune of 82pts. Given that Tantanoola had been playing some consistent footy up un l the bye long weekend the margin was a li le larger that I would've expected. Perhaps the Tant boys lost some of their momentum returning from the bye? Robe on the other hand need to build their own momentum if they are going to challenge Kalangadoo and Port MacDonnell in the hope of snaring that all important double chance heading into finals. With the likes of Billy Laurie only ge ng be er each week, Robe would be quietly confident the upcoming games against other top four hopefuls will be keenly contested. But back to last weeks game – and like many other games around the grounds, Robe bolted out the blocks with a 5-2 to 0-1 first quarter making Tantanoola play catch up footy for the rest of the day. Tantanoola had their best quarter for the game kicking 4-1 to Robe's 4-3, but this was with the aid of a slight breeze, so Robe's 4-3 into the wind wasn't a bad return. Robe were never truly challenged a er half me as they went through the mo ons of recording a percentage boos ng win. Laurie got himself acquainted with the Tantanoola ground (venue for this years MSEFL grand final) with 6 goals and BOG honours. Zac Deane chipped in with a lazy 5, Riley Dickinson, Flynn Peel and Jack Kelly all contribu ng 2 goals. Jak Ryan and Hayden Brown were the home sides only mul ple goal scorers with 2 each. Apart from Laurie, other be er players for Robe went the way of Kane Dunn, Jack Sneath, Angus Weir, Jack Kelly and Jordan Hentshcke. For Tantanoola Brown was named best with Cade Kelly, Jack Dawe, Darcy Pink and Jack Cytrowski. At Nangwarry and the home side was keen to put in a full four quarter effort against a top four side. The first quarter the Saints threw everything at Hatherleigh and it certainly showed on the scoreboard with Hatherleigh leading by just 3 goals. It would appear that the visitors got a bit of a roas ng at quarter me as they quickly responded to put the game beyond doubt with a 9 goal to 2 second quarter. A er half me it was much of the same for Nangwarry, they could do li le to stem the flow of play in the Eagle's direc on eventually going down by 124 pts, which going on first round performances is a 10 goal be er result for Nangwarry. For the visitors Max Telfer led the goal kickers with 6, Louis Brown 4, Jase Bateman and Josh Wight 3, Sam Waring, Jack Sullivan, Dylan Vanderhorst and Jordan Galpin all contribu ng 2. Be er players for the Eagles went to Joe Rayson, Jack Gray, Jed Telfer, Brown, Bateman and Patrick Chay. For the home side Brodie Arundell kicked 2 a er being le of the defensive leash, Tom Vanderhorst and George McWaters also contribu ng 2. Be er players for
Nangwarry were Isaac Raymond, Tom Vanderhorst, Luke Thomson, George McWaters, Sam Shaw and Jake McKeon. To this weeks round of matches, and it doesn't get any bigger than Kalangadoo v Port MacDonnell at the home of the Magpies. Port MacDonnell are shaping up as a definite top two side and probably the most fancied to knock off the current undefeated Kalangadoo. Their tall mber across their mids and forwards will certainly stretch the Kalangadoo defenders who are not overly big. The running brigade of both teams will be eager to gain the ascendancy for their side and give their forwards first use of ball and put that all important scoreboard pressure on. Weather may play a part in the overall result as a wet day will suit the smaller K'doo side, whereas a dry day may be more beneficial to the bigger Bay boys. Who comes out on top? You can't go against a perfect record, so it's Kalangadoo by a whisker. Glencoe are home to Mt Burr and one would expect that the visitors will come away with the win. I can't see Glencoe being able to match Mt Burr across the ground. They only have a handful of consistent contributors, others have good patches during games, but their challenge is to get their second er players to play ght, consistent four quarters of footy. Mt Burr on the other hand need to keep winning to give them any chance of seeing finals ac on and hope like hell that Hatherleigh drop a couple of games to lower ranked sides. Kongorong host Tantanoola and this really could go either way depending on which side comes to play. Both sides have the ability to play much be er than their current ladder posi on/form suggests however, it is not just clicking for either team at the moment. Both sides would see this as a winnable game and will give the victor a much needed W against their name. In round 2 it was Kongorong by plenty, it won't be this big a margin this week and it might even be a Tantanoola victory as they seem to be ge ng be er, whereas Kongorong have plateaued or even slipped a bit from the start of the season. Available personnel will also be an important factor and if the Hawks can get to near full strength will be too strong for Tantanoola this week. In the last match of the round Nangwarry travel to Robe. Robe will be looking for a huge percentage booster, as this might determine second spot come the end of the minor round. Unfortunately for Nangwarry, Robe will show absolutely no mercy. Whilst they may take the opportunity to rest some of their players, coming off a bye two weeks ago, and with Hatherleigh next up for Robe, they will be looking to fine tune their game plan as best they can. It is quite clear that Nangwarry have definitely improved and their goal would be to kick more than their 1-2 at their rnd 2 mee ng – quite achievable with the right mindset.

KALANGADOO port macdonnell
Round 9 brought close neighbours and archrivals Glencoe through our gates. In what was one of the most significant days in our football, netball and Kalangadoo community. We officially opened the facili es upgrade, it was Sponsors Day, Indigenous Round and Women’s Football Presenta ons. Under 11: The li le tackers are playing some good football, they are gelling as a group and developing at a rapid rate. It’s so good to see our future come through and enjoy footy so much! Well done to our coaching staff, you have reached the half way point of the season and every player has grown on and off the field. Junior Colts: The Junior Colts were much more compe ve last game. Glencoe are older and bigger than we are, but it didn’t deter the kids from going in and playing a hard-contested brand of footy. Coach Searlo has been sensa onal in the first part of the season. His mantra of development first is really star ng to show through the group. This week the kids went bowling Thursday night for a group bonding session. Senior Colts: Results throughout the 1st half of the season probably don’t truly reflect the group appropriately. They are developing each week and growing as a group. Well done to Brad Male who was our only junior representa ve in the Under 17’s interleague squad. Brad played extremely well and enjoyed the experience of playing some high level footy! Well done mate! Reserves: The bazzas returned to the winners list, with a ght and thrilling win over Glencoe! Light rain and a so oval made for a contested game. Both sides had big bodies which suited the game. But I think overall it was

Kalangadoo’s youth and speed that pulled them over the line. James Brennan was announced B.O.G. Speaking of B.O.G., cult figure and club favourite Bogwash Barlow is back on deck this week. Home from a best on ground for Northern Districts Footy League and apparently career best form! Seniors: The Seniors day started with Welcome to Country, delivered from Tim Brennan and Jason Bannister. We unveiled our Indigenous Round strips in what was a special day for our club. The boys were clinical in the wet, denying the opposi on the ball at every opportunity. With wet condi ons our short hit-up game was s ll extremely well executed. Lachy Jones walked away with the Tim Brennan Indigenous Round medal as best on ground. Well done to all involved that helped make our last home game as successful and special as it was. We had a record gate taking, which is credit to the hard work put in from all our wonderful volunteers. The opening of the club was sensa onal, well done to the community club. Indigenous Round could not have gone any be er than it did. The jumpers looked amazing, well done to James Brennan for designing them. We also had the women’s footy windup and presenta on night. Once again congratula ons to all award winners and well done on a successful season. Keep working hard as a group and strive for the best! Best and Fairest went to Jamie Ryan, Runner-Up to Chloe Pra , Most Consistent to Tara Jeffree, Best U lity to Mikaila Pi , Best Team Person to Lisa Illsley, Best First Year Player to Mikaila Pi and Coaches Trophy to Abby Thompson. This week sees Port Mac make the journey down to Kdoo for a top of the table clash, see you all there! Go Maggies!

KALANGADOO port macdonnell
Junior Colts: Last week we took on Glencoe, our first half was great with great pressure being applied to the opposi on. It was excellent to see the kids using each other by hand to get out of congested situa ons and they produced some great passages of team play. Unfortunately we went to sleep in the 3rd quarter allowing Glencoe to kick 4 unanswered goals. Our last quarter was great as we were finally able to break our goal drought by kicking 2 majors and played one of our be er quarters for the season. Our best players for the day were Zane Lewis who con nues to get himself in all the right spots to find the footy and laid numerous tackles. Kai Gilmore had some great passages of play, taking on his opponents and kicked a great goal. Harry Caroll ran hard all day and used the ball well and was able to kick his first goal for the club. Je Lewis read the play well and was able to stop the opposi on from moving the ball easily out of the centre ball ups. Lincoln Bowd ba led hard down back, a acked the ball hard. Zaylen Smith was solid down back once again and took some nice intercept marks. This week we take on Kalangadoo. Let’s see if we can put in a good solid 4 quarter performance and get ourselves off the bo om of the ladder and come away with a win. Senior Colts: Very disappoin ng game boys. Did we even turn up? Glencoe are a very strong side, but our effort and a ack on the ball were half hearted and a struggle to watch. Be er players were Jye, Isaac, Zeb C, Dylan, Hayden and Jack. Special men on to Kai Gilmore who kicked our only goal as a Junior Colt. Bring on a be er performance today against Kalangadoo, which I know you are all capable of. B Grade: A er a much-needed week off we welcomed Glencoe to our part of the world for the round 10 game, ge ng back on the winners list before the break was just the tonic needed for the coaching staff. From the first siren the boys looked switched on, and they jumped out of the blocks kicking 6 goals to 1 in the first quarter, this proved to be important in se ng up the win as the next 3 quarters were a much more even affair with both sides kicking 6 goals each. Best for the week was Ben Milstead a er a trip up to the A Grade he returned to the Reserves and was in blistering form. Second best was Lennox Lewis,

a er a delayed start to the season Lennox is star ng to put together a good body of work. Third best was Rory Natrass fuelled by Carlton Dry. Rory has been having a good season. Fourth was Fraser Lynch, a er a long layoff with injury Fraser is star ng to string some games together and form is star ng to come. Fi h best was Ma Roscow in a very rare trip to the Reserves and played a very nice game. Sixth best was Gus McGregor in another fine performance. This week we head to Kalangadoo who are currently just out of the four and will be hungry for the win to help with their finals chances. A Grade: The sun was shining as we welcomed Glencoe for the round 10 clash, the first game of the second round a er a season that has been posi ve to this point. It is important to get the back half of the season off in the right way. The boys hit the ground running, right from the first bounce, exploding out of the blocks kicking 9 goals to 0 to set the game up. Over the next 3 quarters Glencoe kept figh ng, but the boys were switched on and finished off strongly to a commanding win. Best for the week was Mark Smith. We have nearly run out of superla ves to describe Mark’s season. Second best was Jacob Langdon who returned a er missing a couple of weeks and showed his importance to the side with a great game. Third best was Dylan Bromley who is having a season that must been seen to be believed. Fourth best was Tim Sullivan, another player that keeps delivering every week. Fi h best was Kevin Thomson, another player that keeps on performing every week. Sixth best was the captain Daron McElroy in another great performance in a season of great performances. This week we head to Kalangadoo for a top of the table performance. The first game was a close affair with Kalangadoo taking the points at the bay. Let’s hope we can get some revenge. This week we welcome another player into the 200 game club, Zack Williams. Zack has almost done everything at the club from sleeping under the tables as a young boy to captaining the A Grade and everything in between, including being a commi ee member, endless canteen/BBQ shi s and junior coaching.

A er a few disjointed weeks due to byes and interleague, we all headed down to the bay to start a stretch of 3 games before another week off for the SA Country Champs. A er a bit of a mixed bag over at Kalangadoo, all teams were looking to be on the right side of the ledger a er the day's play. Junior Colts: The minis kicked the day off at the bay, but confusion reigned (pun intended), as we were greeted with clear skies and barely a breath of wind. This was not winter footy down at the bay. The Juniors were able to put concern aside however and played some solid footy from the first siren, but throughout the first half couldn't seem to capitalise on the amount of footy that they had, kicking inaccurately in front of the s cks to only lead by 8 points at the half with only one major on the board. From years of experience, Rang must've calmly conveyed to the lads and lade es that they had no idea the opportunity they were squandering with the weather gods smiling down on them. “Back in my day, we needed rubber boots when playing down here!” could be heard from the sidelines. The team took Rang's advice on board and were able to add 4 more goals to the tally in the 3rd and another 3 in the last to run out comfortable 43 point winners. Sammy Haase and Kaleb Price did their best to keep the goals and behinds tally even, being rumoured to have kicked the whole of the ten points between them. Lachlan Brierly con nued his awesome year of footy to take out best player on the day, while Kaleb Price picked up second best for his 1.6 for the day. Ruby Buckley was once again in amongst the ball all day to feature at third, while Li le Haasey also con nued his fantas c season to feature at fourth. Leslie Jagger snuck in at 5th with yet another consistent performance while Jake 'The Snake' Thompson let out some aggression in front of the goals to slot 3 of the best (a few weeks alone with Thommo on the road will do that to a kid). Senior Colts: The Senior Colts took the oval realising that they had a very winnable game in front of them and needed to use the opportunity to prac ce good team footy with more difficult games coming up on the schedule. From the sidelines, the crowd was treated to some very good passages of footy, with the boys linking up well through the middle and consistently sending the ball into a acking posi ons. It was great to see the ball use heading into the forward 50 with the lads sharing it around to get into be er posi ons to score and capitalise, kicking 120 points and holding the Bay boys scoreless heading into the last quarter. To the Bay's credit, they never stopped playing and gave it their all for the whole game. When the Bay broke through the Murphy's defence in the last quarter to score a goal and get on a mini-roll, Boof knew he had to quash their enthusiasm, so what do you do in that situa on? You unleash your secret weapon. As the ball came out of the centre following the Bay goal and into the Glencoe forward 50, we saw the re-emergence of the Mount Burr hero, as Big Hughy Talbot launched himself into a pack of players, eleva ng at least a foot off the ground and pulled down a massive clunk to swing the momentum back to the good guys. The resul ng kick was quite possibly the ugliest drop punt you've ever seen, but it went through the big s cks and the crowd erupted in celebra on. Game over! This game changing moment was enough to earn Big Squishy 6th best in Boof's eyes, while BOG went to Isaac Mulraney, who played a great all around game, giving the forwards plenty of opportuni es while scoring 2 sausage rolls of his own. Second best went to Kyle Maney who had a huge 3rd quarter slo ng goals at will, while Mark Arthurson is playing some inspired footy at the moment, taking out third best. 4th best went to Guillaume 'Lightning' RosSmith who con nues to catch the eye with his pace around the contests, while Byron Tentye played good team footy at both ends of the ground to round out the best. Reserves: A er Round 1 against the Bay, the

Ressies knew that they would once again be up against a really good side. Things were looking grim a er the Bay piled on 6 goals to 1 in the opening quarter, with the ball rarely entering the Murphy forward 50. To the boys’ credit however, they dug their heels in, put the heads down and put together a really solid 2 quarters of footy to outscore the Bay and head into the final break only 20 points behind. With the oval ge ng heavy, and the legs ge ng heavier on both sides, not much scoring was done in the final quarter seeing the Bay run out 33 point winners. Wi a must have been pleased with the effort from all the lads, but in par cular the future looks bright with the performance of a handful of Senior Colts playing their second game on the trot and performing more than admirably. Even more pleasing (especially from mum on the sidelines), Aiden survived two games and only appeared to take the angry pills once. Best player on the day was easily the self proclaimed 'Fat, Old, N Bald' mountain bike maestro Ali Sco , who ba led hard all day in the ruck and around the ground, once again leading by example. Ben Weedon used his strength around the ball all day and racked up as many tackles as possessions to take out second best, while Ben Curran was fantas c all day, playing out of the forward line, but s ll displaying that trademark raking kick to send the side deep into a ack regularly. Chicko Finnis, Hughesy and Two Names were all fantas c down back all day, regularly mopping up around the contests and repelling the numerous advances of the Bay side. Special men on must also go to the skipper, Easter, who con nues to ba le and lead from the front week in, week out, but slyly takes his magnet off the board when best players are announced. With some tough, yet winnable games coming up, let's hope the side can keep playing compe ve footy and put some wins on the board. A Grade: A er taking it right up to the Bay in round 1, albeit with a much different looking side, the Murphy's were looking to play four consistent quarters of footy, and put some pressure on one of the top sides in this year's compe on. Unfortunately a 9 goal to zip first term showed why Pt Mac is one of the top sides in the compe on, which also made it extremely difficult for the A Grade lads to get back into the game. To their credit, the boys once again didn't throw in the towel, and ba led it out to the final siren. I don't want it to become the theme of these write ups, but the way the side con nues to slug games out with a handful of colts playing their second game for the day, and having to pull from the Reserves each week, I'm sure Frazer and supporters appreciate the effort being put forward on a weekly basis, in what has been a horror year with injuries. On that note, I know everyone is currently wishing young colt Darcy Williamson the best a er suffering a head injury on the weekend. You don't like to see a game stopped for an injury to anyone, let alone a young fella who is one of your own. Hopefully Darcy is feeling back to himself by the me this is published, and we wish him a speedy recovery. Onto the best, and knowing Gecks as the supreme athlete he is, I knew he would bounce back strongly from his string injury, but to kick a third of the team's score and take out BOG, next level. A er a week of defending himself on Facebook as the 'Coaches Pet' for the number of TIB ( mes in best), Pa y Mitch did himself no favours by taking out second best in another strong performance. Blacky has been recruit of the year so far (if you listen to Easter) and played another consistent game to feature at third. Big Dorpa is relishing me in the ruck and played another pearler, while Brodie Glynn performed at a high level for four quarters against the old side. For the first me since round 1 against the Bay, Jack Miller popped his head up again to round out the best. Today we are back at home against the Burr, and with some winnable games there on the program, let's put forward a cracking effort. Go Murphies!

Last week we welcomed Kongorong to our home game with Kongorong winning the first three games and the Burr taking the points in the A Grade with a good crowd in a endance to watch the football and netball, along with many family and friends coming into the club to help Aileen Bellman celebrate her 90th birthday, and also Jim and Margaret Seymour celebrate a significant wedding anniversary milestone. It was also great to see past premiership player and league leading goalkicker in John Seebohm in the club. This week we face Glencoe in another challenge and hopefully we can get a win on the road. Cheers Tom. Senior Colts: Last week we took on Kongorong who wanted the win a bit more than us. A fresh start to the weekend, we took away three of the four wins in the footy. A good turnout back at The Commersh a erwards, we thank them for their con nued support. No Minis game early, with the youngsters hi ng the ground for a quick kick at half me of the A Grade. The enthusiasm shown by all the li lies is a sight to behold. All improving every week and will no doubt go on to be an important part of the club going forward. Well done to Tim, Declan and Brodie for wrangling them all each week and teaching them the skills they need to con nue their football journey. Junior Colts: With Interleague all done for another year congratula ons must go to Tyler Richardson on making the U15 team. It was great to back into the home and away season for the second round. With a week away and Tyler missing we were sluggish to get going and had to ba le away for the 4 quarters. Mt Burr challenged hard in the last quarter narrowing the margin to 7 points with some good ball movement, but we managed to steady and kick away late to record an unconvincing yet comfortable win. Well done to each of the lads that went and played across for the Burr, it definitely made a game of it and ba led throughout the game. Our backline held up strong all game and best player and the Swallow Drive Meats Award went to Nate Von StankeDowie, who was rock solid and set up plenty of movement forward. Second best and Rocks Shop Award went to the other back flanker who con nues to shine and set up plenty of the ball for players around him in Harrison Elletson. Ryan Lucas in his 1st year of footy has really se led into his spot across half forward and with 4 goals took home the Rocks Tavern Award. Having the freedom to run and harass in the midfield Deccy Richardson is enjoying the responsibility and took home the Mick Mullan Encouragement Award. Another in his 1st year in footy and having to play on one of the toughest spots on the field against some quality opposi on week in, week out, Jimmy Kyle once again provided plenty of run and drive to receive the Coach's Award. The Angelino Family Award went to Ryan Angelino who is proving to be one of our more consistent players and provides plenty of support for his teammates. It will be good to be back on our home deck as we welcome Tantanoola, always a strong and well drilled side, but I am sure the boys will be up for the challenge. Go Hawks! Senior Colts: Last week we travelled to the home of the Mozzies and our boys were on from the start. The aggression and want for the footy was high and it showed with a good lead all day. There was plenty of run and linking up which we have been trying to get going all year and we started to see the results on the field. Riley Maconachie had a standout game running off the back flank and his run and carry was great to see and got the Ma hews Petroleum Award. The Janeway Concre ng Award went to Joel Maconachie for his a ack and endeavour in the middle which setup numerous forward thrusts out of the middle and when the game got ght was prepared and ready down back to help steady the ship. MT Wheels Award went to Tommy Bellinger for

his ability to hit the ball hard and finish off well with a few goals and a couple from ght spots and under pressure. He had been a bit flat of late and was good to see a return to form. Badenoch's Deli Award was given to Maverick Cooper for his a ack and gut running that saw him with plenty of the footy and I would feel for anyone that this kid tackles because once he grabs hold they never escape. The next best was Declan - the General! His defensive work all day was outstanding. He had a calm head under pressure and repelled plenty of their a acking plays. The award from Spot on Fishing went to James 'Tex' Allen, his efforts on the wing and when needed was our go to man to fill some gaps and no ma er where he is he gives 110%. He's strong in defence and he always presents up forward and when he was running on the wing he was everywhere. Great to get the win, and now we concentrate on Tant Tigers today at home. B Grade: In a scrappy, niggly game and a few short, the boys got the job done and at mes played some very good link up team footy. We had an average age of 40 in the backline and these guys were solid all day and the forwards combined well. Callum 'Waggs' Wagstaffe got plenty of clearance in the midfield with plenty of them set up from Sean 'Pumba' Farrell, and Liam 'Bobby' Durcan blocking for him. Best player was Shaun 'Porno' Beard in his first game back a er injury and he also enjoyed playing alongside his son Xavier, up from Senior Colts for his first senior game. Second best went to seasoned campaigner Mark 'Rowdy' Hunter who is enjoying being out having a run and a kick again. Third best Tony 'Plugger' Elletson whose silky smooth skills are always an asset on any given day, Waggs came in at fourth, and fi h went to 'Tonner', closely followed by big Oscar Geddes. A Grade: Not the result we have been working towards, and everyone le the ground disappointed with the end result. Michael Waters played his best game for the year, even straying down to kick a goal at one point, to receive the Commersh Award. Marty Von Stanke worked relessly to get the Collins Court Butcher Award. Third best and the Killara Food Centre Award went to Ma Weistra, Harry Evans con nues his fine form with a Killara Food Centre Award and the Pick Ave Deli & Bakery Award went to Brad Long. Today we play the Tantanoola Tigers and look forward to some good games of footy. We welcome all past players to the club today and hope they enjoy catching up with old teammates, reminiscing, and no doubt a few beverages shared between mates. Woodchop tomorrow morning at Telford's, turn down Stock Route Rd at the Li le Blue, head south and follow the sign. Wood for sale, so bring your utes and trailers and cash to pay. Don't forget to put your bid in the silent auc on for the Robe Hotel accommoda on and meal package, winner announced 3rd July in the club during the presenta ons which will be held at the Blue Lake Golf Links (a er Nangwarry away game). Senior Colts: We took on the Robe boys that haven't lost a game yet. Our Tant boys played well all day only to be over run by Robe in the last 5 min to win the game but the good out of the game is that we can match Robe and Tant boys didn't play as well as we know they can. Best were Brodie, Jack M, Will, Jack C, Ryan and Paddy

Junior Colts: We were beaten by a very big Robe side. The boys gave 100% however were outsized in most posi ons. It was good to see a few things we have been working on at training start to happen during games. Keep up the effort and we will have some

B Grade: G'day everyone. Well it was a good day for footy with the rain clearing early and we knew it was going to be another tough game against the ladder leaders at home. Unfortunately they kicked the first 3 goals straight and that remained the margin all day, my lads fought hard all day but in the end a lack of execu on and fitness cost us. This week is going to be another challenge against another top 4 side away in Kongorong. Best were Rads, Reillz, Pidge, Trav and Bundy. Go Tigers! A Grade: G'day everyone. Last week we hosted Robe at Tantanoola. With the team coming off another bye we were keen to start the second half of the year with some good momentum. A er le ng Robe kick the first 5 we started finding our rhythm. With young debutantes and a smaller side Robe countered on us and proved to be a stronger side on the day. The team s ll showing sign a er sign that we are moving in the right direc on for the future of the club. Bests in no order were Hayden Brown, Cade Kelly, Jack Cytrowski, Jack Dawe and Darcy Pink.

Junior Colts: We came up against a Tant side that handed us our first loss of the season in the opening round. We took this personally and we were confident that we could reverse the result this me around. Thursday training was a bit of a scrap and I was worried how we would turn up on Saturday. To the boys’ credit they rocked up with a determined a tude and a will to win. I couldn’t have asked anymore of the team as we were dominant over the whole ground. The backs only let one goal through for the day and didn’t give their opponents an inch. The midfield didn’t loose a centre clearance for the en re match with Cooper tapping it down their throats and the forwards led by Mason were taking marks and kicking straight. A true team effort with a few impressive individual efforts. Thanks again to the boys who put their hand up and played for Tant, you tried your hardest and the effort was appreciated by the Tantanoola boys. This week we host Nangwarry and look to con nue our winning form. Senior Colts: Last week we ventured to Tantanoola and on leaving Robe it looked to be a wet and miserable day ahead. As we drew closer to Tant the football gods pulled some strings and the weather cleared up and provided a perfect day for football. The sun was out and there was no wind. A er watching a great win from the Robe Junior Colts it was our turn to back it up. A huge game for both Senior Colt sides with second placed Tant playing first placed Robe. Tantanoola have been travelling well and only had the 1 loss to us earlier in the year. We went into the game with our best 18 and with some key players out. We were without the strong bodied and discipline Robertson brothers. With plenty of feeling in the changerooms, the boys dedicated the game to them. Tant were ready for some payback. From the first bounce it was an arm wrestle with both teams' elite midfields going headto-head. With no wings there was plenty of space for players to run into. Both teams penetrated their forward 50's and came away with 2 goals each for the quarter and Tant in front by a point. Tant came out firing in the second and kicked another goal and we missed some crucial shots on goal and only kicking 3 points for the quarter. Tant players C. Kelly and J. Cytrowski ge ng plenty of the ball. We went into the half me break only 5 points down. Tant weren't leaving anything to chance in the 3rd and piled on another 2 goals and were moving the ball well hi ng up their talls. We only scored 1 goal for the quarter and hadn't played our best football by any means. It all came down to the last quarter. The Robe boys li ed their effort and started playing their brand of football. Some quick clearance from the on-ball brigade into the open forward line looked damaging. Ollie Hagge was every where and was not going to let this game slip. Flynn Peel played in the middle and down back and saved several goals at crucial mes including in the last quarter. Jay Lines led from the front and was hard at the football willing it forward with his grunt. Mason Keane took some important marks as Tant tried to exit their

defence. Codee Weston and Mason McKenny were lethal up forward and snagged a couple of goals each for the day. The last quarter effort allowed the Robe boys to come away with a 7-point lead at the final siren. A brilliant game of football to watch with both teams highly skilled and leaving the crowd on the edge of their seats all game. This week we head back to Rooster Park and take on Nangwarry on our home deck. I look forward to seeing you there Roosters fans! Tom 'Woka' Wachtel. Reserves: The Reserves side travelled to Tantanoola on Saturday expec ng a tough game a er Tant had knocked of the previously undefeated Hatherleigh side in the previous round. Our task was made even more challenging with the withdrawal of several key players in the lead up to the game. We started the game strongly looking to get a win for Tom Kurray in what was his 150th senior game for the Roosters. We started strongly and kicked 4 goals straight to one goal and had the game largely on our terms. At quarter me were le with only one on the bench a er “Crossy” copped a nasty wack to the nose ruling him out for the rest of the game. To Tant’s credit they fought back strongly in the second quarter and but for our straight kicking the final margin would have been a lot closer! Once again a massive thank you to the Senior Colts who stepped up at short no ce to contribute to the win and allowing us to sing the song for Plugger’s 150th! Mason Keane, Clayton and Hudson Peel all made their senior debuts and definitely didn’t look out of place at all which bodes well for the future. We now look forward to our next challenge at home against Nangwarry. A Grade: Tantanoola oval was in terrific condi on and the weather condi ons were ideal for football. Both teams were fresh coming of the bye and everything was in place for an entertaining game of football. The game didn’t start well with Robe’s ruckman Ben Harding breaking his ankle at the first bounce. The game resumed with both teams tenta vely searching each other out but as they se led down Robe used the ball in a direct fashion while ‘Tant persisted with a chip and run game. Robe led by five goals at quarter me. The game became more even during the second quarter with both teams adding three goals. The Robe forwards were giving Tant some problems but it was Tant’s onballers who provided the best avenue to goal for the Tigers. At half me Robe held a four goal lead. Tant started the third quarter with vigour and put pressure on Robe and they could not get their flowing game going early but gradually their skill level came to the front. The game con nued to flow up and down the ground with individual players showing patches of brilliance. Robe increased its lead and went in at three quarter me leading by seven goals. Robe’s fitness and skill meant they con nued to dominate however the Tigers never gave up and were well served by some of their younger players. Robe ran out comfortable winners by excess of ten goals. Calcu a - Bill Laurie, Kane Dunn and Jack Sneath. Best players: Bill Laurie, Kane Dunn, Jack Sneath, Angus Weir and Jack Kelly.

Welcome to the second half of the 2021 season, and what a way to welcome Hatherleigh to Nangwarry with a brand-new slab. How exci ng was it to see? A big thanks to our very own Jake McKeon and his boss and co workers at Mick Mullan Plumbing and building as they con nue to make sure there is something happening every week, so we see the progress at every home game. A few club recogni ons for the red, black and white. Congratula ons to Adam Gartside who played his 250 games for Nangwarry last Saturday, and a very big thank you to our vice president Aidan Mills who has hung up the boots. Both local boys who are valuable members of the Saints. Also a shout out to Joel Virtanen for his selec on in the seniors interleague team and also Archer Virtanen for his selec on in the under 15's. A few reminders our Auc on Night will be a er the Mount Burr game and our formal will be a er the Tantanoola game. We also wish to acknowledge GT Industrial as a silver sponsor and Gildera Forestry also a silver sponsor. Junior Colts: A er 2 weeks off we start our second half of the season. The boys rock up every week full of energy and confidence which as a coach is really pleasing to see. The effort that these li le fellas put in every week is outstanding and their skills and ball use con nues to improve as the season goes on. The way these boys go about it each week is on par with an under 15 or under 17 level and I have no doubts that they've years of good footy ahead of them. Senior Colts: A er a couple of weeks off we started the 2nd half of the season against the top of the table Hatherleigh side. We only had 14 players so thanks to Hatherleigh for supplying 4 players to us for the game. Our

Saints started well applying plenty of pressure and the footy stayed in our forward line for a lot of the 1st quarter, but we just didn't get the reward on the scoreboard which was the theme throughout the day. Full credit to Hatherleigh as they are a slick unit with some skilful young players. We lost by 94pts in round 1 to the Eagles and ended up going down by 43pts this me which is a huge improvement. Best players were Archer, Noah, Benne , Riley and Calais. Team awards went to Cameron, Jordan D and Wya . B Grade: A er the 2 weeks off some of the boys must have forgot we were playing Saturday (with 8 out) we managed to get 17 for the game and come up against the ladder leading Eagles. The players that played that game I could not have been more pleased with the effort they put in. With Robe at Robe this week let's hope we get our usual players back and work on ge ng that first win. A Grade: Our boys in the ones last week played a real good game of footy considering we had just come off the back of two weeks off. Coming into this round all we wanted to do was keep improving and improve from the first me we played them. We defended hard in patches and defended very well in the opening quarter! We went on to put another 13 scoring shots on the board which compared to our 3 shots in the first game is a big ck. As coach I am happy with where our boys are at and hopefully should be near full strength in the weeks to come which will make it be er for our club overall. All the best to Hatherleigh for the rest of the year. No doubt they will be around come finals. Also, a big shout out to Garty who played his 250th game for the Nangas footy club. Cheers LT

100 tameka medhurst
Today we congratulate Tameka Medhurst on playing 100 games for Glencoe Netball Club. Tameka started playing compe ve netball in 2015 as part of the 13&U side. Tameka is well known for her always happy a tude and giving her all. She has learned to use her height to her advantage and is a great reader of the ball, always making it hard for the goalies she plays against. In 2016 Tameka collected the 13&U Runner-Up B&F and then in 2018 collected the same award as part of the 15&U team. This year she is in her first year of senior netball. She is an integral part of the A Reserve team who are having a great season thus far. In true Medhurst family style, Tameka is always quick to put up her hand and help out where needed. She has previously put her hand up for umpiring du es, helping out with club day set up and this year sees her along with Chelsea Owen coaching the Junior 2 side. We are lucky to have people like Tameka and the Medhurst family involved at the club and we look forward to seeing Tameka be a part of that for many years to come. Well done Tameka.

laura edwards
Laura Edwards celebrates 100 Senior Games for Glencoe Netball Club today. Laura started playing compe ve netball in 2007 as part of the 13&U team. This would be the only year that she did not collect a Best and Fairest or Runner-Up in her Junior career. 2008 saw her collect Runner-Up for 13&U and every year following she nabbed Best and Fairest through 13&U, 15&U and 17&U consecu vely. 2010 saw Laura rewarded with B&F in both 13&U and 15&U, an amazing feat very rarely seen. While Laura may be pre y quiet on the court, she is known for always giving 100% and providing great drive down the court and either feeding into the circle or shoo ng herself. This year sees her start as part of the A Reserve side but steps up to A Grade as required, again showing her willingness to help out and tenacity. Laura has also taken on coaching of the Net Set Go kids this year and we are sure these keen li le netballers will learn a lot from her. Laura is again part of a family very well known for giving their me to both the netball and football club over and over again. Whether it be filling in on the court, being on the commi ee, coaching or in the canteen, you will always see Laura around the club and when she isn't playing she is normally spending me with her nieces. Congratula ons Laura and thank you for all that you do for the club.

ROUND 11 A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW KALANGADOO v PORT MACDONNELL Kalangadoo are at home this week and take on the Demons. Kalangadoo haven't played since before the long weekend, having the bye last round. They will be well rested and rearing to go. They will be without Chloe Pra who suffered a serious ankle injury at Country Champs in Adelaide. Fortunately for Kalangadoo they have a lot of depth in their team and while Pra will be missed, they will have someone ready to step up in her posi on. Abbey Duncan has been in brilliant form, earning herself a spot in the Top 10 team at the Country Championships. Port MacDonnell played Glencoe in their last ou ng, going down by 23 goals. The Demons have showed glimpses of good netball this season but haven't been able to get the results they would have liked. Their defensive combina on of Morgan Amy and Lisa McGregor always give 110% but will be well and truly put to the test against the likes of the Magpies’ Duncan, Melissa Russell and Ebony McDiarmid. Michelle Moore has been consistent for the Bay through the middle and will have a good ba le against K'doo coach Jayde Peacock. Kalangadoo will march ahead and take the points at home on Saturday. GLENCOE v MT BURR Glencoe head home this week and take on Mt Burr. Glencoe had a convincing 23 goal win against Port MacDonnell at the weekend, while Mt Burr trounced Kongorong and easily took the points. Last me these two teams met, it was Mt Burr that took the win by 13 goals and showed everyone that they are serious contender. Mt Burr’s Ebony Clark has been shoo ng with amazing accuracy, ably backed by
Sarah Nulty. Glencoe’s defensive unit of Sarah Edwards and Emily Thompson will need to be at their best to stop Clark and Nulty's opportuni es. Down the other end of the court, Heidi Clark and Madi Hagge have been outstanding for the Mozzies and are one of the most formidable defence combina ons in the league. They will make Caitlin Hentschke and Laura Edwards earn their goals. The midcourt ba le will be one to watch with the Murphies Ashlea Edwards and Donna Jaescke capable of crea ng havoc for their opponents, but the likes of the in form Laura Schultz for the Mozzies, standing in their way. Shoo ng accuracy will be important in this game, as both teams have defenders capable of turning over any missed opportuni es. There will be a few nerves in this big game, the team that se les first will likely take the points. Mt Burr in a close one. KONGORONG v TANTANOOLA The Hawks head home this week and take on Tantanoola. The young Kongorong side were shown a netball lesson by Mount Burr at the weekend, going down by 61 goals. Tantanoola defeated Robe in a closer contest, ge ng up by just 7 goals. Tantanoola have been in good form, their a ack line working brilliantly together and se ng up plenty of opportuni es for Emma Gould and Jami Walker in the circle. The Tigers were without Tayla Rowe in their last match. If she returns she will add some height in their defensive circle. Rowe, along with Kate Bromley and Alex Lucas work over me in defence and will put pressure on the young Hawks. Kongorong are unse led and are moving posi ons constantly in the hope of finding a working combina on. Emily
Proudly supporting the Mid South East Football League
Lightbody, Ella McIntyre and Riley Buckingham will likely start in defence for the Hawks and while their commitment cannot be disputed, they will struggle against the slick Tigers a ack line. The Tigers have plenty to play for, they will want to hold onto their spot in the top 4. Experience will earn them a big win. ROBE v NANGWARRY The Roosters are at home this week and take on Nangwarry. Robe went down to Tant by 7 goals at the weekend in a hard fought contest, while Nangwarry were easily defeated by Hatherleigh, going down by 56 goals. Robe have covered all their injuries extremely well this season. Georgia Perkins has been a standout for them most weeks, while Asha Pe t and Keryn Moore have stepped up and taken control in the midcourt. Sarah Laurie and Tori Gluyas have been consistent in goals, shoo ng and combining well. Kylie Heaver returned from injury for the Saints and played in goals with Ange Pra in the absence of coach Cassie Dinnison. The pair worked hard and tried to make the most of limited opportuni es. They will again be under pressure against the Roosters’ Perkins, Alannah Campbell and Kimberly Aus n. Hayley Burner has been a standout for the Saints and is vital in controlling the play through the middle. Their defence line of Hayley Vanderhorst and Carly Ploenges work at an extremely high rate and will need to keep this up to curb the influence of the Roosters’ Laurie and Gluyas. Robe will take the points at home this week and defeat a determined Nangwarry. Hatherleigh has the bye.

NETball club notes Junior 2: We missed out on the rain but it was cold which some of the girls had trouble ge ng warm and dropped the ball a bit - it’s a winter game. Welcome Willow to our club, she played well and listened to receive the Baker’s Delight award. Grace played well and got in front when it counted in WA/GK, she received Penola Recycling award. She has approved so much and more to come. Also Heidi was jumping around and giving it a go at GK just need to concentrate a bit more but there has been so much improvement and more to come with all the li le girls - good job. Let’s all keep working on coming in front and create more space to allow the flow of the ball down court easier towards our goal area. Junior 1: Great effort li le Magpies in our match against Glencoe. It is great that you are all taking on board what we are learning at training and giving it your best effort during our matches. There was some nice passages of play, with great passing all the way down the court. The defensive pressure was amazing with plenty of intercepts and rebounds. There is s ll plenty to work at trainings including finding space and coming in front of our players. Awards: Ma lda - Penola Recyclables, Lexi Fasta Pasta, Ebony - Paradise Pizza. 13 & Under: 63-14. Again we were able to give court me to some Junior 1 players, and change around in posi ons without missing a beat in our performance. Well done to all. Awards went to Shayden (Muffin Break), Lucy (Bakers Delight) and Maya (Kalangadoo Organics). Special men on to Alice who is proving to be most versa le - taking intercep ons in defence and shoo ng around 80% accuracy in goals! 15 & Under: 58-10. Some drama having to pin the Indigenous round bibs on meant no me for changes planned for this game! Awards went Gabby (SAL) for following through with instruc ons and Georgia for a great game in defence. Best players were Tegan and Chloe and Ebony (for her half before helping out in 17’s) 17 & Under: A good way to finish the first round girls. Some more posi onal changes and we again adapted well. We s ll need to eradicate some passing errors which can poten ally let teams back into the game. Good luck to those represen ng MSE. Athlete’s Foot - Emily Mulraney; Boost Holly Watson. B Reserve: 30-49. The match could be summarised as Glencoe played much be er than us on the day! Injury and illness did not help but it
NETball club notes was not one of our best performances by far. Awards went to Rhi (Athlete’s Foot), Imogene (Body Shop) and Deb (Kalangadoo Organics). B Grade: Such a great way to end the first half of the season. It was a great compe on with Glencoe from the first whistle. We had a solid first quarter with plenty of opportuni es from our defensive turnovers. The wet and windy weather made for some silly mistakes. That le us even at 3 quarter me. Glencoe put on lots of pressure through the mid court and made us ques on every decision. But Jess, Jolie, Lucy and Jess all took charge of the ball and didn’t rush. Nicole and Shanae fought for every turnover and rarely gave a rebound opportunity away. Gina, Bel and Brianna were consistent and offered well every chance they got. Everyone played their roles perfectly and the outcome reflects that. Best players: Lucy Williams - Terry White; Isobel Giddings - Pines Hotel. A Reserve: We knew from the start this was going to be a tough game and so needed to be switched on from the first whistle, unfortunately though with a bad lead up we were not and couldn’t even piece together some of the basics in the opening quarter. A lot of this was because of the other team forcing the errors however we all know the role we need to play and how to adjust our game to suit this. We did get be er as the game went along and managed the win however it definitely highlighted areas we need to work on. In the forward line Eb was making the most of the opportunities presented and shot with confidence, whilst down the other end Schultz has a great tussle in her posi on and managed to get lots of hands to balls. Also special men on to Shelbs who has been thrown into unfamiliar posi ons and is doing a great job, and also thanks to Holly for her con nued support on the bench. Shelton’s Butcher’s Award – Eb McDiarmid, Fasta Pasta Award - Kylie Schultz, F45 Award – Shelby Ryan. A Grade: Another great team game saw us come away with a solid win against Glencoe. Our defensive trio worked themselves into the game, causing numerous turnovers. Let’s remember to make the most of these opportuni es, by treasuring possession and driving strongly out of defence. Aunty Jane enjoyed her new freedom which earned her the F45 award and Chlostar received the Beauty by Ri for her solid contribu on.
Junior 1: Another great game girls. Everyone is really star ng to work well with each other, and the girls are star ng to find their place on the court. A lot has improved since the start of the 2021 netball season, chasing the loose balls, coming in front and their defensive pressure down the court. We s ll need to work on not crowding the ball and all going to the one place and our voices, but what a top effort to come back into a er a week off we have tackled down on our listening skills, and everyone is star ng to ask ques ons which is great. Everyone did an amazing job but just need to remember to s ck to our own players and use our voices. Best players went to Mia Spehr (Bakers Delight), Kia McDonnell (Bakers Delight) and Kordan Smith (KFC). Great effort girls and keep up with the amazing work. Junior 2: The girls tried their best, but the Glencoe girls were very strong. Couple of things to take away and prac ce on at training, but also some posi ves. The girls’ defensive pressure all over court is great which saw them get lots of turnovers, we just were not able to capitalise on that. Best players went to Skyla, Molly and Des ny. 13 & Under: What a great game. Everyone put in 110% and there were so many posi ves that came out of our game. We did overload one of our centre passes and it worked beau fully. Our passing was much be er, and our defensive pressure was great. We will need to work on listening to the umpire mee ng the ball and clearing out. Awards went to Jazzy (Hungry Jacks) for pu ng in the extra 110% crea ng many turnovers for our team. Bailee for pu ng in 110% and never giving up. Her driving and re-offering are great and Mollie (Donut King) defensive pressure was great turning and blocking. Cu ng in front of her player and ge ng plenty of touches. Great work girls. 15 & Under: Best players: Sophie Jones (Donut King), Grace Jacobs (Donut King). Everyone went out to start the game strong! Everyone giving 100% which is exactly what we asked for! Star ng with some new combina ons Sophie Jones slo ed into the defence end playing an amazing game, really applying pressure and making the shooters work double me. Congratula ons to Bridie McPherson on playing her 50th game for the Port MacDonnell Netball Club - you are a true asset to the team - Bridie also playing an amazing game and helping Sophie find her feet in the defence circle then moving her way down to goals for the first me for the season. Grace Jacobs found her feet in the goal circle, coming out strong right from the first whistle, Grace proved herself on the court implemen ng everything that we have asked of her at training! Congratula ons girls on an outstanding game from everyone! 17 & Under: Well done girls! There are so many individual improvements showing and it’s complimen ng our game play. Again I have thrown some new combos in and like always you girls never cease to amaze me. I will admit we need to come out firing from the get go so we stop playing catch up in the second quarter. We seem to do this every week and coming into the back end of the season, we can't afford to do this. Best players Imogen Jacob and Kristy Sneath. B Grade: Determined, persistent and courageous, is how I would describe the B Grade teams performance. Everything that I ask of you all, was put out on the court. I am extremely proud of you all and your efforts. It makes me proud to be your coach. We s ll have worked to do to finish with the desired result and I know it's
coming for us. I couldn't be happier with the combina ons on court and the way you all worked together. MacKenzie and Jen created extreme defensive pressure to enable Kristy and Natasha to take intercep ons. Kelly and Candice combined well and capitalised on these turnovers. The defensive effort across the whole court was evident and we need to work on maintaining that for 4 quarters. Posi onal changes occurred when two players were injured and everyone step up and did their part. Abbi played her two posi ons with the utmost determina on and highest work rate to support her team. Great job Abbi. Because we work so hard on our court process each week at training, these are becoming habit which was evident in the play. Our transi ons and court play were terrific and everything we have learnt was on court. Our team's next goal will be to work with the pressure of the mer and using the minutes remaining to finish our hard work with a win. I'd like to thank everyone for their care and support for both of our injured players during the game. We wish them both a speedy recovery. Awards Kelly Millard (Pizzeria) and Natasha Sanderson (Bakers Delight). B Reserve: Awesome game girls, we were switched on from the first whistle and we con nued the intensity throughout the whole game. We gelled so well as a team, s ll a few things to work one but it's a huge improvement. Great moving and shoo ng from Cristan and Maddy, Briodie ran hard all game in centre and made some great intercepts. Ash, Fee and Lyndall played relessly all game in defence with lots of turnovers. Let's go out strong again this week. Best players team effort. A Reserve: More new combos for our A Res team again last week, which unfortunately seen us unable to adjust quickly as we had a very slow start to the game, Glencoe ge ng a good lead on us but we were able to s ck with them in the 2nd quarter and out score Glencoe in the 3rd, unfortunately Glencoe come out stronger in the 4th and we let them run away with the win. We had some great passages of play, but we need to try get back to playing 4 consistent quarters and our own steady game. Best - Cody Manning and Montanna Millard. A Grade: A great 3 quarter effort girls, we stuck right with Glencoe up un l the last quarter when we let them back in the game. Some great play girls, defence worked hard. Michelle your drive, defence and passes were fantas c - great job. A big congratula ons to our very own Lisa McGregor playing her 200th game for the club and once again ge ng best on. Best players: Michelle Moore (Athletes Foot) and Lisa McGregor (Live In Kitchens). Thanks to all the families that did their gate duty at our last home game. Much appreciated. We raised a lovely sum of money. Thanks to Dean and Gordie Lewis for dona ng the wood for our gate prize. Congratula ons to Lisa McGregor for playing 200th game at our last home game. Well done, Lisa let's hope you get many more! Lisa is a current member of our A Grade and has worn many different hats over the past years. Congratula ons Lisa. Thanks to those families that sold pies for our Pie Drive. Our fundraising funds are growing nicely this year. Many thanks. SAVE THE DATE - 31st of July 2021 Netball Func on – details to follow! Best player (Metalworx Award) went to Emma Burdon for coming in front and listening throughout the game. Second best went to Charlo e Bignell. Junior 1: Great game girls, you all stood by each other and encouraged everyone. Some great passes into the a acking end and great defence with hands over the ball all the way down the court. It’s awesome to see you all put in 100% every week. Best went to Emmerson Govan (Eddie Kuhl Tyres Award) for some great defence, intercepts and leads. She got injured but s ll put in a great effort and encouragement went to Mackenzie Biggins for great work all the way down the court. 13 & Under: 21-24. Very tough game girls, we had some good passages of play. Ruby and Emma played a very good game in defence with a few defensive turnovers. Some good passages of play down the court saw us score some goals. Some changes that were made at half me saw the girls adjust and adapt very well. Mikayla Maney and Violet Thorne were strong in the goal ring and scored some lovely shots. Good effort girls, just wasn't our day unfortunately. Ruby earned herself the Dycer Construc ons Award and second best to Violet. 15 & Under: 17-44. Great game girls. Defensive pressure worked really well. Some great intercepts and constant pressure down the defensive end. Body posi oning for intercepts worked well and we nailed our 3 feet. Goalies worked well and found movement in the ring well with using the ring for gaining ground. Mid court did well with posi oning. Best player (Maloney Plumbing Award) went to Jasmine Mutch who had a never give up a tude and great drive down the court, Cedar Sco read the play well and had hands to many balls, Jorja reading the passes and good rebounds. Great work girls you all played well. 17 & Under: 28-39. Bad luck girls! It was a really good first half but we dropped off in the second half. Zali had a great game in GK, really moving her feet to get in front and ge ng heaps of intercepts and touches to earn herself the DeGaris Lawyers award. With Chelsea out, Caitlyn played the whole game in GD and did a really good job, building throughout the
NETball club notes match (Donut King Award). Jorja played an excellent game at GA a er not having played for four weeks and everyone else contributed well. Let's work on making easy op ons and easy passes this week. B Reserve: 38-51. Bad luck girls we fought for the full game, it just wasn't our day. With mul ple changes at half me Taylor really stood up and showed her versa lity in the defensive goal circle. Take the posi ves, I know how bad it feels but we know we didn't play our best and can do so much be er. Let’s reset and ready to give it our all next week. Best player (Key 2 Sale Award) went to Kate the ever reliable in the back line with plenty of voice and drive. Second went to Ange for great defence and then a acking in the second half. B Grade: 52-48. Another shocking start girls when we know what we are capable of. Basic netball skills and lack of pa ence let us down. Some good passages of play but these were few and far between. The defensive pressure con nues to be our saving grace. Changes at half me saw us fire up and win the last two quarters. We were lucky to walk away with the win girls so let’s reset, work hard at training and get back to basics this week. Best - Kayla Medhurst (Planta on Treated Timber Award) for a cracking game in the goal circle and Amy Clegge for a great defensive half. A Reserve: 48-39. It was a quality game against strong opponents and it was great to come away with another win. Our pa ence and ming down court was lovely to watch. Max and Taitlyn had great movement in the goal circle and were well supported by Candice and Alyce. Tameka and Jessie had a great game in defence and supported each other well. Alyce had a great game in both a ack and defence, earning her the B&P Travel & Cruise Award. A Grade: 48-25. It was a good consistent 4 quarters of netball from all 7 players. It was nice to have the same team on the court 2 weeks in a row. Donna and Ash drove hard all game and finished the game with very limited unforced errors which was pleasing to see. Caitlin shot with accuracy and grabbed in some tough balls with two hands. I am really excited to see how we tackle the next few weeks. Hopefully come away with some more wins and climb the ladder like we deserve. O'Brien Electrical Award went to Emily Thompson and second to Ash Edwards.
The Mount Burr Netball Club is proud to have Sam and Clark Fal ng, Igni on Fitness, and Kimberly-Clark Australia (KCA) as major sponsors for the 2021 season. Junior 2: Another strong game girls. Your team effort was outstanding, movement down court and coming forward was amazing. Once again strong shoo ng from all. Thank you to Lola and Hannah for filling in, you did a great job in the posi ons. Awards went to Lola (Fasta Pasta) and Alice (McDonalds). Junior 1: There has been some amazing improvements from every single player which is fantas c to see, especially as we enter the second round. Our hard work in learning to dodge and come in front for the ball is paying off. It is also great to see everyone listening to feedback and working hard to add it into the game. Awards went to Sophie (Fasta Pasta) who got her hands to lots of balls and adapted well to each posi on she was put in, and Becky (Toy Kingdom) who showed great leadership and skills out on court. 13 & Under: Well done girls, great game, a big improvement on the last me we played. Our passing going down the court con nues to improve. We made lots of changes and it was great to see everyone work hard in those posi ons. Keep working hard at training and we will con nue to see the improvements. Thanks to Mandy for scoring, Amy for ming, and Faith for umpiring. Awards went to Sara (Toy Kingdom) and Lola (Andy's Bakery). 15 & Under: Well done girls on another comfortable win. Although the score didn't reflect it, we s ll need to come out strong and maintain a high level of intensity throughout the en re game with more desire for the ball. We had some great passages of play from both our a acking and defending end and shot with accuracy. Well done girls. Award went to Makaylah (Denton's Sportspower). 17 & Under: We set some big team goals ahead of this game wan ng to show confidence in both ourselves and a team out on court. Our first and last quarters highlighted the need for us to use our voices more and encourage one another to play to our full capacity. The middle of the game demonstrated the type of gameplay we know we are capable of and should be challenging ourselves to match each week. S ll plenty of things to work on at trainings and aim to improve in the second half of the season. Thanks to Luke scoring, Kelly for ming, Stacey for umpiring, and Heidi for being primary carer. Awards went to Amelia Ballantyne (Enchanted Beauty) and Mae Johnston (Ducky's Surf) both played fantas c games and put into play everything we had
asked. B Reserve: Well done girls and a great improvement from the last me we played. We are having pa ence with each other and our defence all over the court is turning over many balls. Our court spacing is ge ng stronger with each week, along with our passing game. We are working hard at training and I can see the improvements each week. A huge thanks to Macy for si ng bench and taking the court for Breanna and doing a fantas c job. We hope Breanna's injury isn't too serious. Thanks to Larissa for scoring and Georgia for ming and Kelly for umpiring. Awards went to Amy (Millicent Chemist) and Mia (Ducky's Surf). B Grade: What a great start to the second round. Our defence all over the court created turnovers giving us plenty of opportuni es to score. I was so proud of our team for figh ng for the win. We proved we are a lot stronger players and team than we were at the start of the season. We just need to con nue to work on taking that extra second and making sure we keep possession. Awards went to Georgia Lambert (Since Fi y Six) and Kelly Gamble (Café Melzar). A Reserve: Bad luck girls, it was a physical game that seen us ba le it out quarter by quarter. Throughout the game, we had a lot of possession, a few passing errors and missed goals saw Kongorong capitalise and convert those turnovers into goals le ng them sneak away for the win. We saw some great movement throughout the goal circle from Claudia and Jemma. Hold your heads high girls, everyone played well and adjusted to the changes we made through the game and gave it our all. Awards went to Jemma (Sassi) and Layla (Ducky's Surf). A Grade: Great start to the second round girls. Despite our slow start in the first quarter, we found our feet with our new combina ons, resul ng in many quick transi ons and strong passages of play. Defensively our pressure across the whole court led to several turnovers and opportuni es to push our lead on the scoreboard. Great to see plenty of drive onto the circle and pinpoint passes into our goalies. Ava was welcomed into the team and fi ed right in from the first whistle. Another strong game from our junior McKenzie Bevan who held her own and got numerous touches around the circle. S ll plenty of improvements yet to be made. Thanks to Leah for umpiring, Heidi for scoring, Alan for ming, and Tanya for being primary carer. Awards went to Mckenzie Bevan (Since Fi y Six) and Heidi Clark (Denton's Sportspower).

NETball club notes Junior 2: I'm so proud of you girls. You have come so far from the start of the season and you are ge ng be er every week. We have been working hard at training and it’s showing on court, with what I've been teaching you. Great on court voice, passing, driving to the ball and defending. Keep it up! Awards: Hungry Jacks - Zoe, Telford family award - Zayley, and Boost Juice - Claire. Junior 1: Last week the girls all played a fantas c game and definitely impressed me. They all showed what 100% effort looks like and worked hard against tall opposi on. Everyone listened to what we have spoken about at trainings and demonstrated it on court really well. Awards went to Abby (Telford family) who came back a er a few weeks off and con nued to work hard over the four quarters and Lily (Fasta Pasta) who ran well over the game and took some important intercepts. Well done girls. 13 & Under: Fantas c game girls! It was your best game for the year. The a ack worked well all game and our footwork has improved. It is great to see the improvement from our first game. Keep up the good work! Awards: Hungry Jacks - Imogen and Fasta Pasta - Rahni. 15 & Under: Good game girls, great to see the improvement since the first round. S ll a lot of work needed on ball skills. When you used your voices and made op ons you moved the ball well. Good to see players stepping up to the challenge and playing in different posi ons. Well done to Sophie on shoo ng 2 goals, thank you to Ruby and Holly for benching for us. Awards: McKinnon family - Sophie and Bakers Delight - Yasmine. 17 & Under: Tough game on the weekend for our girls but they con nued to show consistency and contest the ball for the whole match. Pheobe and Zara started in the goal circle for us and it showed how much we missed Zara a er missing numerous weeks of being injured. The girls put on great leads and moved together well in the circle with the help of Kate and Skye feeding. The drives of Skye and Kate were great throughout the whole match and their steadiness with the ball allowed for pa ent feeding into the circle. Marnee, Taylah and Izzy worked relessly in defence once again, contes ng numerous balls and forcing errors
NETball club notes to create turnovers. Milla came on at half me into the centre bib and wasted no me ge ng into the swing of things providing strong drives into our a ack line. Overall the girls showed great improvement since our last game against Mt Burr by decreasing the score line by 20 goals. Awards: Skye - Fasta Pasta and Pheobe Kaboom Entertainment. B Reserve: Good game girls, we are s ll bunching in the middle so we have to work on this. Our shoo ng was a lot be er and we shot many more goals. Great defence and determina on, un l we got to the last quarter, we were a bit flat footed and red. We will try again this week. Awards: Lima and Co - Tamika Mullan, She's Apples - Julie Brown and F45 - Reanna Baldwin. B Grade: Very proud of you girls last week. Scout ran all day in WA and C, driving down the court and using her voice. Brooke played an awesome game in GD taking heaps of intercepts and rebounds and making it hard for the Mt Burr goalies. She combined well with Billie both working relessly in defence. Alicia did a great job always being a strong op on and feeding into the goalies with precision. Mahli and Pheobe combined well in the GS and GA posi ons, moving and using the space in the ring when needed. Mik's pressure on the ball in WD was fantas c ge ng deflects and making it hard for Mt Burr to feed their goalies. You kept figh ng to the end, always pu ng pressure on the pass, with second efforts and some deadly combina ons. Awards: Brooke - Body Shop and Scout - Lima and Co. A Reserve: A tough contest last week but we were able to se le and break away to get the win. Working well in the a ack line with pa ence and the connec ons grew stronger throughout the game. Working relessly in defence to get a touch to slow down the transi on and grabbing strong rebounds. Let's go out hard today to secure the win. Awards: Kaylah - She's Apples and Bri - Lima and Co. A Grade: We had a great first quarter with a full team effort u lising everyone and every opportunity. Unfortunately we couldn't keep it going for the rest of the game as we forgot our court plays and structure. We will regroup and focus on our own game this week. Awards: Ella F45 and Emily L - She's Apples.
Junior 2: Brilliant job by our J2 girls last week. We played a great li le group of girls from Robe and there were goals scored from both teams. We played a fantas c team game and we are really star ng to get the hang of finding space, passing, cu ng and leading forward. Thank you to Emie and Summer for filling in while Polly is enjoying the sunshine of QLD. Our Hungry Jacks award went to Lidi for great leading into space. Junior 1: Well done J1s on a fantas c game! It was so great to see us get some goals. Well done to all the girls who tried different posi ons, there are some excellent combina ons emerging every week. Hungry Jacks encouragement awards went to Apsara Wright for excellent calling for the ball and leading in front of her player and Jaycee Johnson for her determina on which led to many turnovers of the ball. Well done team! 13 & Under: What a game the girls had against Robe. It was great to see you all working as a team to play a really awesome game! I am so happy with how far you have come since the start of the season. Defence was awesome with everyone giving their all, ge ng loads of intercepts. It is great to see the defence training we have focused on is being used within the game, strong defence allowed our a ackers to move the ball down and score heaps of goals. The movement in the circle was awesome to watch, so keep it up girls. One thing we need to work on is being aware of where we all are on the court to ensure we aren't all leading to the same place. Great game girls, you should be so proud, I couldn't stop smiling watching you girls! Awards went to Larni Bentley and Bethan Roberts. 15 & Under: We had a bit of morning rain making our courts wet, which caused both teams to steady. We started off with a slow first quarter once again but managed to get up by 5 goals at half me. Our defence all over court created many turnovers but unfortunately we threw these away with silly mistakes like rushed passes, stepping or unable to make leads. Robe outscored us in the third quarter bringing us back to even score. Unfortunately as much as we tried we couldn't get that lead back and ended up 1 goal down. It was disappoin ng to watch as you have all improved so much individually and as a team, to see us play a game like it was the start of the season. Let’s work hard at training and come out playing our best this week. Ducky's Award: Demi Bevan. 17 & Under: We had a few injuries last week with Tayla and Keelie cheering from the bench. Unfortunately we couldn't quite adapt to new posi ons with it proving to be difficult to come out of defence. We s ll don't seem to want the ball quite enough which reflects on the scoreboard. Madi worked hard crea ng leads down the court and into the circle. Ella and Hayley created many turnovers, we just needed to move the ball down the court to convert it. Let’s go back to the basics, to perfect our game. Shanks Engineering award went to Ella for her hands and defensive pressure all down
the court and Madi Kelly with the TFC award for her movement down the court and in the circle. B Reserve: Great game girls, great to see everyone hit the court full of energy and ready to go. We really pulled together as a team and started to implement what we have been working on at training. Fantas c movement and talk right across the court. Great work to Jasmine Taylor who gets the Fasta Pasta award for her excellent shoo ng and leadership in the a ack. Great work to Ffion Roberts who gets the Somerset award for a fantas c game in defence. B Grade: A perfect a ernoon for netball and we were able to come away with a strong win. The first quarter was a ght tussle with not much in it and due to injury we made a couple of changes at the first break. The start of the second saw Kath leaving the court and Danni entering new territory going into WA and doing a fantas c job. Bek and Nic have been working really well together moving like they have been playing together for years and crea ng space. Some great passing from Sally, Danni and Kris e into the circle saw the goalies finishing truly. The defence line of Zan, Amy and Leah held strong and made it difficult for the passes coming down the court and into the ring turning over many balls. Overall a great team game. New Haven award went to Amy Mason and Leah Kuiper took home the Sportspower voucher. A Reserve: What a great start to round 2! It just really highlights how much we have we improved over the first round, and how much le we have to give! Emma Rathjen, what an absolute ripper you had in C! Your control both in a ack and defence was perfect and your deliveries into the girls was amazing to watch! Defensively, I thought you all stepped up and really put the pressure on to make sure we won ball throughout the game! Georgia Clarke, what a superstar you are! From defence to goals, I'm really not sure what else you can't do! Great game ladies! Let's build on this now and start pegging a few back! A Grade: Great job girls. Came away with a win off a much-needed long weekend break. With Tayla out we had Georgia come up and help us out and we can't thank you enough! You played a ripper game. Alex played circle defence and got so many hands to balls, great work. Everyone stood up and worked hard for 4 quarters. Casey played a solid game on the wing and your movement and ming was excellent. Em played a strong game in goals and changed things up which was great to watch. Well done girls. Casey took home the Fasta Pasta award and Emma second best. A big thank you Jak Ryan who gave us netballers the opportunity to hand out the Tough Tigers Award - this award is given out to a footballer each week and is given to the player that is not necessarily the best out there, but plays the toughest game and does all of the hard work. Last week we gave it to Casey who consistently puts her body on the line for her team and gives her all! Well done Case.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Second half of the season and what a game. The girls did an incredible job with some great movement ge ng the ball into our goal circle to score some excellent goals. We had some great plays down in the defence also with the girls being lucky to get a couple of turnovers. Just need to remember we aren't seagulls to a chip, other than that really great job. Incen ve (Canteen) went to Madison Moore for an amazing game in defence. S cking with her player which led to ge ng her hands to some balls and making turn overs. Well done Madison! Junior 1: Heading into the second half of the season I've seen a massive improvement in many areas. It's amazing to watch you all gel together as a more confident team. At training we've been working on leading into a space and giving off the quick pass, this has helped you all a lot. But most importantly the confidence to have a shot at goal and follow it in, is just awesome to see. Well done to you all, you played a li le ripper. Incen ve went to Poppy who always gives 100% and played extremely well in defence. Chocolate award went to Makenzie who played her best game yet, nice work. 13 & Under: Tant 13 Robe 37. The weather cleared up nicely just before our game and it was a great day to play netball. We started off slowly and it took us a quarter to start focusing on what we have been prac sing; ge ng in front of our player to get the ball and lead forward and not backwards. Overall, it was a great team effort. Best player (Steve's Place): Olivia Birchall for her constant defensive work, she got her hands on most balls! Incen ve (Robe Seafood & Takeaway): Hannah Arend for great leading and beau ful shoo ng. Well done girls. 15 & Under: Tant 25 Robe 26. A one goal win. A great team effort especially in the second half where we made the decision to li our work rate. Ta da! Hard work gets the chocolates girls. This is where we need to be at to move forward through the season. Lots of posi ves. You backed yourselves and had a go, you showed more determina on at the ball, worked harder at posi oning and ghtened against our opposi on. It looked good. It must have, as Dad Brooks come off the sideline to man the scoreboard as it was goal for goal. Best player (The Pastry Place): Georgie With for whole game effort. Special men on to Ella who was close behind. Incen ve (Steve's Place): Charlie Rayner showed courage against her taller opponents and played with heart. Thank you to Meg Schubert for si ng the bench. One game at a me. 17 & Under: Tant 15 Robe 59. A bit of a slow start with everyone, but with how many changes you've had and the absence of 2 key players in Maisie and Lexie, and coach Alex. It didn't take long and you all se led into a great game of netball, which is a credit to you all. A wonderful team game with plenty of great plays. Was so great to see Maddie step up and be the dominant goalie, playing and shoo ng with confidence. Ella played a consistent game as usual, being put into C at half me with no hesita on. Sienna showed she s ll has it as a goalie, combining well with Maddie and shoo ng some great goals. Hayley played a great a acking game at C but really found her feet back at WA with some great leads and driving onto the ring. The defence line consis ng of Billie, Adele and Amalie was super strong, with Tantanoola a ack having to work over me to get the ball in. Billie taking
NETball club notes numerous clean intercepts and driving down court earned her the best player (The Union). Incen ve (Steve's Place) went to Maddie for her confidence and direc on at GS. Great game girls! Build on again this week and build momentum to get you to finals. Thanks to Tilly and Georgie for si ng bench. B Reserve: Tant 48 Robe 19. First thing that comes to mind is goals - we damn need more prac ce in this area. Second is team-manship. We have this in bucket loads and it's just a pleasure to be part of such a happy team that just enjoys playing netball. Arguably we were down a couple but thanks to Amalie and Mads we were able to have a more compe ve game with a bit of flow without feeling swamped. There were some posi ves: Rhi is showing more and more confidence, Anne is ge ng be er at her posi oning, Olivia had a crack at GK a new spot for her, Robin tried her heart out as always, Mandz con nues to show determina on and is ge ng touches as a result, and Cass got chucked in goals and got some wins in play. Calcu a (Me & Miss Jones) Amanda Clarke and Incen ve (The Pastry Place): Cassie Obst. B Grade: Tant 52 Robe 29. As we enter the second half of the year, I set a task for the team to improve on our score line against Tant from the last me we played them. I'm pleased that we were able to do it! Last me we met we went down by 25 goals and this me only by 23. Our 1st quarter was amazing, we were enthusias c and our skills were spot on, we forced turnovers and we trailed by only 2 goals going into the 2nd quarter. Our 2nd quarter wasn't our strongest, Tant’s skills improved, and our level of enthusiasm dropped and we trailed by 14 goals at half me. We improved again in our 3rd and 4th quarters, but just need to string together 4 good quarters to remain in touch. Calcu a (The Cally): Tamara Jess for being solid through the mid court for the en re game. Incen ve (Burger Co): Mahalia Bathurst-Warren for some amazing touches in defence. A Reserve: Tant 61 Robe 16. Another tough game for the girls, down a goalie so a big thank you to Pom and Keelin for taking one for the team and playing out of posi on. I take my hat off to all of you girls as you never drop your head and give 100% effort, despite having such an inconsistent season with posi ons and players. There were some good passages and lots of posi ves that came out of the game. Again, it was just the finishing touches that let us down, passing into space being one of them. Ella played a great game in WA and GA - holding and leading strong which earned her incen ve (The Coastal Club), thanks so much for stepping up and helping out. Our workhorse, who never gives up and provides a lot of talk and direc on on court won herself the Calcu a (Hairport) with countless touches - well done Pom! Let's have a strong training this week and go back to some basics and keep our never give up a tude happening. A Grade: Tant 62 Robe 55. A great fight to the end! Well done girls, a great team game. Tori and Sarah were nice and strong under the ring, shoo ng accurately. Kez and Asha fed well, with lots of pressure down the court. Georgia, Alannah and Kimberley put lots of pressure under and around the ring, with a close finish and fight to the end. Calcu a (The Union): Tori Gluyas. Incen ve (Lush Flowers): Keryn Moore.
We are into the last half of the season, and it has definitely flew by this year so far. It's great to see so many teams so compe ve this year and special men on to our 13U who are li le superstars currently si ng third - well done. Thanks to everyone who supported the MND round. You all looked great in your socks. Thanks to Chappo for helping redo our sponsor signs on the fence, they look much be er. Another thank you to our sponsors and businesses who donated awards this season. Without your businesses help clubs would struggle. Let’s keep up the good work teams and see a few wins on the board in Robe. Junior 2: A er a few weeks off it took all of you li le superstars a while to adjust being back. But soon you all se led in well and started to get more confidence and lead a lot be er against a bigger team. When we all get in front and run, we look awesome well done girls. Good defence too by all lots of intercepts by everyone it is great to see you all really star ng to grab that ball in hard. Keep it up this week. Athletes Foot award - Leah, and Hungry Jacks - Madalyn. Junior 1: We started off a bit slow and warmed up in the second half. We need to remember to lead to the ball and chase the loose balls. Great defensive pressure by Ruby all game. Ella ran well in C with some great shoulder passes and good quarter in GK. Best players and awards are Penola Recycling Ruby, McDonald's - Ella. 13 & Under: Great effort by all eight players. Was always going to be hard a er having two weeks off. We had a great first half only being down by two at half me. Third quarter saw a 14 to 3 results and we played scrappy netball making many mistakes. Although the win was out of reach, we regrouped and outscored Hatherleigh by 6 goals in the last quarter to finish on a high. It will be hard against Robe, so we need to ensure we play four consistent quarters. Best players were Kaylee who played a brilliant game in defence ge ng many intercep ons and con nuing to listen and learn. Winning her the Pines Hotel award. Kiara had a great quarter in defence winning her the Serv-Wel award. 17 & Under: Last week we were down a defender which meant we had to try a couple players in different posi ons. The girls played some good netball in the first half which was good to see. The girls were talking well all over
the court and encouraging each other and playing as a team. We knew it was going to be a tough game, but the girls gave it a fair crack. The shooters combined well and took on my advice which was good. The mid court moved the ball down the court well in passages and the defenders stayed on the toes and really tried to get around their players having a go at many balls. We just need to work on doing the one percenters as it will benefit their game lots. Thanks to the girls that sat bench for us again last week and the parents that helped. Best players: Nangwarry canteen - Mia Timms, Donut King - Montanna McKay. B Grade: Before the game I asked all girls to go out with the aim to improve on our round 1 score and start working towards improving our individual performance. At the end of the game the score did not show the determina on and effort that all 8 girls showed. Stevie and Jemma gave 110 percent in defence and won them both best on court. Keep going girls. I can feel a win around the corner. Best players Stevie Judd and Jemma Glynn. A Reserve: Bad luck girls. With having two weeks off with our bye and the league bye I think it hindered us. There were some good passages, but we need some more fire in our bellies to dig deep when we are feeling it the most. This is the second half of the season. It is our me to start fresh and do what we know we can do. Thanks to Meighan for filling in for us, we really appreciate it! Also, thanks to the team for listening to me during the game whilst Cassie was away. Best players Bri any Dycer and Taysha James. Pines Hotel award - Bri any Dycer. A Grade: The score did not reflect the game we had. There were some great passages of play. Kylie and Ange worked relessly in goals and posi oned themselves extremely well against some great defenders. Eb was working hard all game and drove well onto the circle. Hayley B had a good tussle in the C on Sarah Faulkner. Sarah had a tough gig playing on Tegan Merre but did well for her first game in 5 years. Carly and Hayley V worked well together and had a hard job against some strong accurate goalies. All in all, we played a great game against a very good team. We need to get everyone at training so we can work on the things we need to improve on, and we should come away with a few more wins this round. Best players Hayley Burner and Ange Pra .
ROUND 10 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW PORT MACDONNELL v GLENCOE A close start to the game with first quarter seeing Port Mac down by 3. Glencoe started strong with GS Caitlin Hentschke scoring all 12 goals for the quarter making it hard for the Bay defenders to stop. Third quarter saw once again Glencoe’s Hentschke shoo ng all 10 goals to Port Mac’s 7. Coming into the last quarter Glencoe dominated 16 goals to Port Mac 3. Glencoe worked hard in the last quarter. Unfortunately the Bay couldn't produce, although Demons’ centre Michelle Moore worked hard all game making a good contest with Glencoe's Donna Jaescke. Congratula on to Port Mac’s Lisa McGregor on her 200th game for the club. A great effort Lisa. MT BURR v KONGORONG Both teams made early mistakes, lacking pa ence and choosing wrong op ons. Ebony Clark (GS) con nued her good form for Mt Burr and made the most of her scoring opportuni es. Mt Burr defence were working hard to create turnovers only to see Kongorong's defensive line in Riley Buckingham, Ella McIntyre and Emily Lightbody do the same. Neither team managed to se le and take control at the first break, however Mt Burr led by 7 due to their shoo ng accuracy. Mt Burr came out much stronger early in the second. Eb Clark and Sarah Nulty con nued to reward the defensive effort with her shoo ng accuracy. Madi Hagge (GK) and Heidi Clark (GD) were almost impenetrable in defence for the Burr making life unbearable for the Kongorong goalies Emalee Stokker and Georgia Bald. Kongorong con nued to pressure Mt Burr's Laura Schultz and Ava Muhovics down the court but the speed of the Mt Burr fleet had them struggling to keep pace. Mt Burr led 31 to 7. Kongorong swung some posi onal changes to try and arrest the change but Mt Burr refused to give an inch, going on a scoring rampage. Heidi Clark was mean in defence with nothing ge ng past her, ably backed
up by Madi Hagge and McKenzie Bevan. Mt Burr broke Kongorong's spirit in this quarter, winning all posi ons only allowing the Hawks to score once. Mt Burr 53 to Kongorong 8. Mt Burr kept up their intensity which proved to be too much for the young Kongorong team who despite giving their all couldn't match their opponents. Good all over team effort by Mt Burr, but the Kongorong girls should hold their heads high for their never give up a tude. Final score Mt Burr 71 to Kongorong 10. TANTANOOLA V ROBE The Tigers started the game with the first centre pass however resulted in a missed shot. Robe were able to convert and began the game with the upper hand. Robe's shooter Tori Gluyas started the game strong and shot with accuracy for her side. The Tigers began to find their rhythm with some new combina ons out on court and went into the first break with a 3 goal lead 14-11. In the second quarter both sides came out firing with both sides work rates li ing. Emma Gould found her range in the goal circle and shot 14 for the quarter with some accurate feeds from Casey Walker and Victoria Lucas. Down the other end was a similar story, Sarah Laurie was able to find some space and shot accurately to keep her side in the contest. A ght tussle through the middle between Lucas and Kerryn Moore however it was Lucas who helped her side put pressure on the ball to cause some unforced errors in Robe's a ack line. The Tigers increased their lead to 5 going into half me 32-27. Tant’s defensive third started the third quarter strongly with GD Georgia Clarke and GK Kate Bromley combining well to claim a couple of turnovers early and conver ng on the scoreboard down the other end. Unable to run on with the momentum though, Robe li ed their defensive intensity to peg a couple back. Robe defenders Georgia Perkins and Alanna Campbell made Casey and Jami Walker work hard for every possession. A er an up and down quarter by both sides the quarter ended as a e. Scores were Tant 46 - Robe
41. Robe threw everything into the final quarter pu ng their bodies on the line for the ball. Tant kept their composure and worked the ball down court with pa ence and precision passing. C Walker and Vic Lucas stood up tall for Tant through the middle taking control of the game. In the end Tant were able to pull away a couple more goals ending the game up by 7 in what was a closely fought match. Final score 62-55. NANGWARRY v HATHERLEIGH With some dry weather compared to during the week Nangwarry hosted Hatherleigh. It was MND round and both teams supported by wearing blue MND socks. The game looked pre y even at the start. Both teams gaining intercepts and looking to convert. Lacey Haines took a couple minutes to warm up with good defensive pressure from Hayley Vanderhorst and Carly Ploenges. With Cassie Dinnison away Kylie Heaver was back in goals having returned from injury. Plenty of rebound opportuni es slipped away from Nangwarry in the last half of the quarter leaving them 14 down at quarter me. Second quarter saw Maddie Redman come off with young Elly Reddan take her place in defence. Hatherleigh came out strong and picked up their defensive pressure all down court. Nangwarry succumbed to the pressure at the start of the quarter with many intercepts converted for Hatherleigh. Nangwarry fought back having their biggest quarter of 13 goals 10 of which to Ange Ploenges. No changes for Nangwarry coming into the second half. With Haines coming off, Redman returning to the court in GS and Maddie Pulmer now in GA Hatherleigh con nued to show strength over the whole court. Hayley Burner taking over coach for the day in Dinnison’s absence was a clear leader in direc on for Nangwarry. Both teams con nued with the same posi ons into the last quarter. Nangwarry struggled to keep up with a s ll strong performing Hatherleigh who finished up with a 56 point win.
