tyson modra
Tyson Modra has played the majority of his footy at the Kongorong Football Club (other than the odd game here and there while travelling), coming up through the junior ranks to now be a solid contributor in the A Grade side. Tys is an illusive player that spends most of his me through the middle of the ground.

ryan vickery
Ryan Vickery is a hard running, a acking defender who loves to have a bounce, o en playing on much bigger opponents. Another one who has been loyal to the club, and is great to have around the place. Both Tys and Vickers are great mates, and when off the ground they're always trying to find different ways to injure each other, but on field, team mates proudly wearing the black and gold, and we hope they con nue for many years to come.

Junior Colts: Last round we played an undermanned but very courageous Nangwarry side who were up for the fight. We were more than hungry to get our season heading back in the right direc on with a win. With a few late outs and an injury to skipper Charles throughout the game, I thought many of our younger players stood up and accepted the challenge. The senior players also stepped up with Ethan and Archie taking control of the midfield and ruck ba les. Brodie and Vinnie were thrown in the deep end having to run majority of the game out in the middle and both stepped up with fantas c games. We were able to run out 4 goal winners in a scrappy game of football. Props to Nangwarry who despite the low numbers ba led hard all day and were never out of it all day. We now look forward to a couple weeks off and will rip in to the second half of the season. Thanks Jack A Grade: Last round the Robe Roosters were back on their home ground and looking for a win before heading into a 2 week break. Rain threatened to come down but held off for the first 2 quarters. Robe came out with all guns blazing. The Robe midfield were able to run the ball out with rela ve ease. Sam Clements and Kane Dunn cleared the ball and sent it hurdling forward. The first half was played primarily in our forward half. Lachlan Hentschke for Robe was dangerous around goals and kicked 9 goals for the day. We went into the half me break 2nd qtr

58 point up and looking to put up a big score. The heavens decided to open in the third quarter and sheets of water came down from the sky. Nangwarry took full advantage of the wet weather and were able to scrum the ball forward out of the centre. Joel Virtanen for Nangwarry started to get his hands on the footy and sent it into their forward 50. Andrew Hyland also referred to as “Big Cheese” was Nangwarry's primary forward target. He kicked straight and slo ed 7 for the day. As the rain ceased Robe started to wrestle back control of the football with some clean skills. Heading into the 3-quarter me break 20 points up. The game would come down to the last quarter and Nangwarry could smell their first victory. Robe came out ready to play in the last quarter. The Robe midfield started to gain control of the football again and penetrate deep forward 50. Jed Jarret was a clear target up forward for Robe and lead up hard and strong. We came away with a 34-point victory. Although closer than we would have liked the lads stepped up in key moments to get the W. Dougal Day (also known as the barometer) slo ed an excellent goal and provided a highlight for the game. Congratula ons to Samuel Clements and Jasper Barre for being selected in the ini al interleague side. We will be primed and ready to go for the Tant game in round 11!

Keep an eye out for informa on about our next club func on which will be Christmas in July so stay tuned for those details soon. Under 11: Frosty morning greeted us again at Nangwarry. Had a couple of new players for the week. Levi Hu on played his first game for Tant and Oliver Warren played his 2nd. All the kids welcomed them and played a very good game. There were some great passages out from the middle to score quick goals with really good talk and shepherding from many players. This team work is what we all love watching. Congrats to Sophie Sporer for her first ever goal. Awards went to Jack Rowe, Zac Chapple, Sophie Sporer, Jaxon Long and Maxx Bevan especially for his goals when meant to be at full back. Junior Colts: On a beau ful morning for football our boys came up against Nangas which we all thought was a winnable game. Unfortunately we lost big Bowie is the warm up, Nangas got off to a good start and we were chasing tail all day! Be er players Kaiden, Hunts, Jake and Evan. Thanks to South Gambier for supplying a couple of kids for us.
contests and backing his great work up by giving second and third efforts all around the ground. We swapped a few things around and had several blokes playing in different posi ons which provided other opportuni es for some players in posi ons they normally wouldn't play. Be er players for the day were Sam, Jack, Brad and the Braydn's Rowe and Hateley. Reserves: Nangwarry at home proved to be a difficult task a er the long weekend break. We came out in the second half but it become too li le too late. Best players went to Ma Sporer, Brodie Snook, Brad Williams and Tyson McGrath. www.tantanoolafootballclub. spor ngpulse.net Find us on Facebook: Tantanoola Football and Netball Club
Senior Colts: G'day all, over at Nangwarry last week where we really tried to work on being accountable and disciplined and playing our style of footy. The boys did exactly what was asked of them and we controlled the game from start to finish. Sam Simmons gave us first use of the ball by domina ng the ruck 2nd qtr

Wow where do you start a er a weekend like that. On 26th of July 2014 the A Grade side beat Robe in Robe and nobody an cipated it would take 8 LONG years before the senior boys would sing the club song. However fast forward to the 2022 season and on the 19th of June 2022 Coach LT and his boys managed to do what we all knew was possible and defeat Tant. The scenes were phenomenal and it felt more like a grand final to many loyal supporters as the siren sounded and the crowd ran onto the ground. Car horns beeped and people cried. Congratula ons boys, you certainly made a lot of people happy and reminded us why many of us have stuck around. Let's hope it is one of many wins this season! The football club would like to thank all of the supporters for their loyal commitment over the 8 years, and also to everyone who wrote messages of support following the win, it is nice to see so many people happy for us! Congratula ons to the Junior Colts and B Grade who also had great wins on Saturday. This week a er the Hatherleigh game the club is hos ng their Gold Cup! So s ck around for tea, put on a dress and suit for fashions on the field and have a great night. Our sponsors this week are major sponsor LV Dohnt and Brody's Bricks. We are very lucky to have our very own neighbours LV Dohnt as a major sponsor this year. LV Dohnt and Company has varied business areas and is a specialist in infield chipping and this year is celebra ng working within the forestry industry for 80 years. Their business is family owned and currently has family members working within our administra on and opera ons area. Brody's Bricks is a local self-employed bricklaying, block laying & stonemasonry contractor with over 10 years' experience situated in Mount Gambier, South Australia. Brody played for a few seasons and also helped rebuild the clubrooms. We thank him for his con nued support in 2022. Under 11: Another good ou ng by our under 11s. Really star ng to see some of the things we work on at training come out in games. Kids were playing full of confidence and used the ball well Junior Colts: Firstly I must say a huge congratula ons to Luke, Taz and the whole A Grade squad for breaking the 8 year drought ge ng the win against

Tant. The hard work that has gone on over the last few years on and off the field to put together a compe ve senior squad, last week’s result was reward for that effort. Our Junior Colts side enjoyed a really good win which was pleasing to watch. The side played some really good team footy, sharing the ball to work into a ack. Thanks to Heath and South Gambier who brought down a few players for both sides. Best players for us were Calais, who should also be congratulated on playing in the recent interleague game. Mason, Tayte, Benne , Ella and Kobi. Next game we welcome Hatherleigh which will be a big challenge for our side. Senior Colts: Unfortunately another week and yet again another big loss on what turned out to be a massive day for the club. Well done to Luke and the A Grade on finally breaking the drought, thoroughly well deserved. Quite simply if we don't bother to even turn up to training we will con nue to be beaten easily on Saturday's. Well done to the players who were selected for interleague and I hope you enjoyed the experience. Best players were Archer, Benne , Ty, Riley, Peter and Hayden. B Grade: Nangwarry reserves had a good win against a strong Tantanoola side. Nangwarry came out of the blocks well and scored 3 quick goals before Tant were able to get one back and Nangwarry led the first change 4-4 to 1-0. The second quarter was the one that really set the win up with Nangwarry kicking 2-4 to Tant’s 0-1 and leading at half me 6-8 to 1-1. The second half was an even contest with Nangwarry only just our scoring Tant 54 to 4-0 with both teams playing some par cularly good football. The final score was Nangwarry 11-12 (78) and Tantanoola 5-1 (31), Nangwarry goal scorers were C Hicks 3, B Kelly 3, J Clayfield 2, V Virtanen 1, J Hagge 1 and J Moore 1. Best players were M Chaplin, S Brooksby, A Heron, J Clayfield, B Kelly, and B Neshoda. A Grade: Well finally a er 8 long years we broke the drought! A er coming close a few mes this year we learnt from those experiences and kept ourselves in front. We had a great first quarter and then maintained that lead the whole day. It’s good reward for the hard work we've put in and it's a good reward for the loyal people who have been at the club the last 8 years! We move on to Hatherleigh at home this week where we will look to improve the scoreline from the first me we played them.

A Grade: Last week we took on a determined Mount Burr ou it. Mount Burr came out with some great pressure and intensity which we struggled to adjust to resul ng in them ge ng a two goal lead by quarter me. As the game went on we had plenty of football but with some bad decision making and poor skills due to some good pressure and defence from the opposi on we struggled to convert inside 50's to goals. In a disappoin ng result we went down by 3 goals. Best players on the day were Mark Marrio , Sam Gray, Joe Ferg, Gerard McGrath, Mikey Telford and Paddy Chay. This week we head down to Nangwarry to take on the Saints. Go Eagles! B Grade: What great weather to kick off the second round of the home and away season against Mount Burr. We had a great week on the track and the boys were really keen to get back into things. The Burr brought plenty of heat and pressure all day long. We were able to get our running game going and playing our team first football to run out 158 point winners in the end. Best on ground went to young Browny who kicked 6 sausage rolls. Second best went to Jase Bateman who gives us plenty of drive off half back. Third best went to the coach. Fourth best was our general at CHB Norm Watson giving us plenty of drive and carry across there. Fi h best went to our skipper Muff who ended up kicking 7 big ones.
third quarter was a bit of a lapse for us as we only kicked two goals and let Mt Burr kick 2 as well. Luckily in the last we kicked away and scored 7 goals to win by a comfortable 11 goals. The score didn't as much reflect the game as the Mozzies team came to play and applied plenty of pressure throughout the whole game. Our best player for the day was Bailey Linder, working through the midfield and using his big le boot to get plenty of clearances. Miles Widdison stepped up from the backline a acking the ball well and making it hard for the Burr to move the ball past the half back line. Ethan Leopold again playing well taking some big grabs and always making a contest. His brother, Fletcher also played a good game snagging 2 goals. Je Faulkner again did his thing off the half back and through the midfield. This week we head to Nangwarry to take on the Saints.
Senior Colts: Last week was round 10 and the start of the second round. We were back at the nest to take on the Mozzies for the second me this year on what looked to be a fantas c day for footy. Star ng the first quarter off it was a ght match with us scoring 2 goals 3 to Mt Burr’s no score. A er going back out in the second quarter, the boys managed to pile on 4 goals and gain a substan al lead at half me. The
Junior Colts: Last week we took on Mt Burr. We played a really good first half kicking 5.6 to 0.1. The team were moving the ball well across the ground and were ge ng some good centre clearances. We also were good on the rebound out of our back line. We managed to hold on to the lead only kicking the 3 points in the second to the Burr’s 2.2. It was good to see the sportsmanship in the team pu ng their hand up to play for the opposi on to help them out! James Solomon had an outstanding game pu ng himself in good posi ons across the field and running hard all game! Ethan Marshall was our second best with his hard gut running and tackling pressure, Eli Sims had his best game for the year assis ng in a couple of goals and kicking 1 himself, Oskar Howell had a great game in the ruck and moved well across the ground compe ng well and Isaac Chambers had a solid game using his crisp skills to find his teammates.

Junior Colts: Last week we were off to Hatherleigh for what we knew was a tough ba le. We had confidence we could really take it up to these boys having only gone down by 13 points the first me around. Unfortunately we didn’t come away with the win but to the boys’ credit they never stopped trying and we won the second half of the game not allowing Hatherleigh to kick a goal. Bit of a slower start to the game by our boys allowed Hatherleigh to have a great opening quarter - the bye didn’t help our cause. Our backline held up amazingly against a really strong forward line and midfield ou it. Best players were Rylan McKay, Heath Johnston, Jayden Garner, Charlie Bevan, Levi Thiele. A massive thank you to Dylan Clough and his boys always more than happy to lend kids and give everyone a fair run and the boys and girl that came across had a real crack and were unreal sports about filling so thank you to Dyl and all the kids who filled in. Also a big thank you to everyone who gives up me in the morning to fill roles and help out the kids and make a game. We look forward to this week. Cheers Tom Senior Colts: Last week we got a footy lesson from a very talented Eagles side. Best players were Brock Sandow who did a great job rebounding off the fullback line. Kallan Bevan back from Adelaide was solid all game se ng up plenty of play. Cohen Montuori was strong in middle and of hal ack line. Brady Sharp played his role well whether in middle or on half forward. Lucas Montuori con nued to put his body on the line all game and Muhammad Abduvahobov set up play across half forward and half back. B Grade: Despite the result in our grade it was a fantas c day at Hatherleigh, raising awareness and money for the fight against MND. We were outplayed from start to finish by a very talented Hatherleigh side. We con nue to compete and ‘have a crack’ but are lacking the fitness and skills to challenge the top sides. Despite the heavy loss there were s ll posi ves to take out of Saturday’s game. Je Bowering con nues to impress as our hardest working midfielder, Jack Francis is controlling centre half back and

Thomas Hales showed class in the middle. Lachlan Alcock, Ed Ballantyne, Noah Telfer and Harvey Muhovics all had their moments as well. Thanks to everyone that helped out on the day and to those brave people from Hatherleigh and Mt Burr that took the plunge in ‘The Big Freeze’. A Grade: Congratula ons, well done and thank you to all involved with the Hatherleigh Big Freeze to Fight MND. We as a club were very happy to be involved in such a great cause and such a great day. Very pleasing to get the win against a top side on their home deck! Best players were 1. Sam Wallis who cut off everything that came his way, used his speed to his advantage and backed up a great Interleague performance with another great game. 2. Captain Fiebs who loves a big ground and using his run to set his teammates up. Another guy who never gets beaten. 3. Dyl Ridz with another silky game running through the midfield and popping up forward to slot a couple of crucial goals. 4. James Wallis who stood strong in the centre of the ground, moved the ball forward when he could but also tackled well and bashed and crashed as he does week in week out. 5. Jacob Gregory who floated across the wing got his hand to anything that came his way. Enjoyed the bigger oval too and was also able to swing down back for us in the last quarter and stand tall when needed. 6. Young Spanksy who is going from strength to strength with his ruck work. To compete the way he does against bigger and more seasoned ruckman is really great to see and exci ng for us as a club. 7. Knife who is back to his best, se ng us up well from the backline and not giving an inch to any opponent. His decision making and ming makes us a be er side. I know it’s a cliche thing to say but really could have named the whole side in the best, one of those days where there were no passengers and everyone played their role. Well done to Nangwarry too for breaking their drought on the weekend. On to Glencoe next for us back at the Burr for the McInnes Shield. Go Burr!

Last week we welcomed Kalangadoo across to our home deck to compete for the annual Ma hews Cup. Unfortunately, we couldn't win the cup as Kalangadoo are in fine form. We came away with 1 win from the day. We held a minute silence for Glencoe club great Kevin Von Duve Snr. It was apprecia ve of the Kalangadoo guys to par cipate in this, and he was a well-respected footballer and cricketer across the whole region. Junior Colts: The Junior Colts got the day rolling with a fantas c win and an extremely high scoring game. We kicked 23 goals for the game, which is a great return in short quarters and managed to lend Kalangadoo some of our players as they were quite short. Daniel Ferguson kicked 8 for the day and 3 in Senior Colts for a total of 11. The Junior Colts are flying the flag this year with the best numbers at training and playing the best football. Hopefully they can keep this going all year. Best players were Lachlan Brierley, Kallan Price, Kade Mulraney, Bailey Dale, Daniel Ferguson and Tighe Hurley. Senior Colts: Opposite to the Juniors, it was us who was short in the Senior Colts. We luckily had a fair few Junior Colts who filled in, but both sides were lacking numbers. Kalangadoo got off to a very good start and opened up a 7goal lead at quarter me. We played a lot be er in second quarter kicking 4 goals to 1. A er half me we ran out of puff and the opposi on ran away with it by 71 points. Best players were Lachlan Brierley, Aidan Hurley, Ben Weedon, Kieron Rigney, Daniel Ferguson and Brodie Pfitzner. Reserves: The Reserves came up against the 2nd side on the ladder. Last me we faced them we were on the wrong end of a 139-point drubbing. This me we lost again, but only by 19-points. We've showed a lot of improvement since Round 1 and the boys con nued their good form they've been in recently as we keep in touch with the top 4. It was a great game to watch and apart from a 10-minute

lapse in the 3rd quarter we took the game right up to a premiership favourite. The boys should be proud of their efforts. With a few players s ll to return to the line-up, and hopefully with some luck some AGrade injuries will diminish, the Reserves will be able to mount a charge towards September. Best players were Adam Pulford, Tim Mutch, Tom Rundle, Trent Hawke and Dane Paproth. A Grade: The Seniors started the game strongly as we have the past few games. The pressure and effort were there, and we made it hard for them to score. However, we struggled to get the ball inside-50 ourselves. I reckon if we were keeping count of the inside-50s it would have been about 100 to 15 for the game. A er quarter me we dropped our heads a bit and let the goals pile on. We managed to finally get a couple ourselves through Tory Weaver, who played 2 games, and some young fellas in Mark Arthurson and Harry Comley. We ul mately got shown up by a fast and skilful side who know their roles well. We went down by 108 points. Best players were Declan Hurley, Patrick Mitchell, Zacc Cocks, Andy Gray and Tory Weaver. This week we head up the road to Mount Burr. 4 winnable games are up for grabs and we hope to come back to the club on a posi ve to celebrate Variety Night. This is our best func on of the year and a er a 2-year hiatus due to Covid, I'm sure there will be some great acts. Make sure you get everyone you know out there to support the night. My p for the 'dash for cash' is Dylan Childs, Carey Megaw and Jack Miller in the trifecta. Will Maloney as the smokey. On Saturday July 23rd we will be holding our Premiership Reunions for the following sides: A Grade: 1957, 1962, 1967, 1992, 2007. B Grade: 1962, 1977, 1997. Snr Colts: 1967. Please contact the club or Craig Childs if you can come along or would like to make an apology for the day of celebra ons.

Saturday was a perfect day for footy! An amazing winter's day made for some very skilful footy across the grades. Under 11: The juniors kept their momentum moving forward. They're playing excep onal footy and are developing at a rapid rate! Boxy and Tys are very pleased with the week to week progress the kids are making. Junior Colts: The Junior Colts came up against the second top team in Glencoe on the weekend. They were far too big and strong for our younger group. But like every week the group kept ba ling away hard and making sure that Glencoe earnt their possessions and managed to snag a couple of late goals as well. Senior Colts: The under 17s managed to get a full squad on the park last week. It showed when we have a full compliment of Senior Colts to choose from, that they can be a force to be reckoned with. Connor and Brad were excep onal, being named first and second best. Brad managed to kick 5 goals as well, playing ruck all day!
with the win and really grind out a victory the game certainly raised some areas that we will need to improve over the coming weeks. Josh Searle performed really well and displayed great pressure at contests all game and Michael Durbs was accurate in front of goal and provided our main scoring avenue. Caleb ‘Sauce’ Gibbs was best on ground and took many contested marks and provided real leadership across the ground and throughout the game. We face another difficult assignment this week as we take on Kongorong who are always difficult to beat in the Reserves. The Reserve lads are on teas this Saturday night so make sure you s ck around for a culinary delight. Boxy Seniors: The A Grade fellas managed to bounce back a er a reality check against Hatherleigh the week prior by running out victors by 120 points. Kriegs kicked 5, Benny Mules kick 4 and Ben Gregory won the Spud Ma hews medal for best on ground. Al Lyon,Lachy Jones, Tye McManus, Pat Davies and Tommy Williams were also named in the best players.

The past couple of weeks has seen an outpouring of love for past Kongorong resident, and Netball Club Life Member, Mel Tilley. Condolences to Shirley, Stacey, Kristy and extended family on the loss of Mel. Weather gods shone on Pt Mac last week, which is always nice when you head to the Bay. Three wins from four, and nearly got the fourth over the line. Minis: A er two weeks off playing, the kids were eager to get out on the footy field again. They worked hard all game to get the ball out of the pack and con nued to look to pass the ball off to their team-mates. Their tackling, shepherding, and kicking skills con nue to improve each week. Great to see a few of the older players get some game me in the Junior Colts, and some of the youngest crew have a run in minis too. Awards went to: Intersport Jimmy Whi y, Graham & Ange Award Nathaniel Elletson, Angelino Family Award Brodie Stephens, Coaches Award - Aus n Bowering, Club Award - William Beare, Donut King - Zayley Vanderpeer. Junior Colts: A er a couple of weeks off with the bye and Interleague, how good was it to be back at footy! The phone rang hot in the days leading up to game day, with several players out with the flu, but this allowed a chance for the minis to step up and have a game. A huge thank you to these lads who stepped straight in and found themselves in the ac on all day. The boys took a li le while to get going, but with some good forward defensive pressure, managed a couple on the board in the first and second terms to have a four goal lead at half me. The second half we managed to open the game up, with the group ge ng on top, and our backline being resolute all day to not let a score through for the day. The forwards had plenty of opportuni es and the final score didn't really show how hard the contest was over the full four quarters. Best players and awards went to Axel Page and Declan Richardson - The Rocks Shop Award, Harrison Elletson - Spot-On Fishing Award, Ryan Lucas - Mick Mullan Award, Cur s Page Coaches Award, Blake Telford - Janeway Plumbing Award. Was the perfect way to start the second round and will look forward to welcoming several players back in to the side, as we look to head down to take on Kalangadoo. Senior Colts: Headed down south to the seaside last week a er two weeks of rest for the boys! It was always going to be a test for us a er the break, ge ng the boys switched back on, and using the footy brain again! We come out strong early with good midfield pressure and working both defensive and a acking sides of the ground. The oval was heavy, as expected, with a lot of so spots so stressing to the boys that the footy would be on the ground most of the day and we had to have runners front and centre. The boys had a convincing lead at all four breaks to win by 100 points. Outstanding footy a er 2 weeks off. Cohen Janeway was our best taking home Ma hew's Petroleum Award, his work rate around the ground couldn't be matched and was terrific in the air! A first year senior colt in Tyler Richardson was second best receiving the MT Wheels Award. His a ack at the footy and silky skills are second to none, he's going to be an outstanding player for a long me to come, third best we had Mackye Baron back from the SANFL this week, and ge ng the Swallow Drive Meats Award. He's a step above, just watching him dance through packs is exci ng to watch! Fourth we had our junior

colt, Harrison Elletson, who fits into our side like a hand in a glove! His a ack at the footy and footy brain to get himself in the right spots is great to see in such a young fella, Mick Mullan Award going to Mackye. Fi h we had Kur s Lasle (Coaches Award) who's been running off a half back up and down the wings, taking some great marks and taking the game on when he has it in his hands. Sixth, and ge ng the Badenoch's Deli Award, was Toby McKinnon, as a coach I love the way Toby plays footy, he's composed around the ball and has great decision making. Back on the track again this week with hopefully great numbers to take on the Kalangadoo boys. I stressed to the boys the work that needs to be put in from now ll finals, and how it won't just fall in their lap. It's all in their hands now! Go Hawks! Reserves: Good to get back on the winning list with a real tough slog against a desperate Bay side. Luckily for us, they didn't kick straight, and we were able to score goals when we did go forward most of the me. Full credit to our backline for applying great pressure and standing up under a constant barrage. Massive men on goes to our senior colts, Brodie, James and Shak who all played great games and were very dangerous up forward. Oscar Geddes played his best game for the club to get best and win the Commercial Hotel Award. Dan Hann con nued his strong season and used the ball really well to take the Bellum Hotel Award. Lachie Pulford played a great game in the ruck, and down back, to get the Club Tea Award. Riley Maconachie racked up the possessions for the Pick Avenue Award and Joel Maconachie was a welcome addi on to the midfield for the first me, to take out the other Club Tea Award. Seniors: The boys got off to a slow start, which was expected a er the double bye, but got up and going a bit be er a er quarter me and held their own for the next couple of quarters, before finishing off strong, which was very promising considering how heavy everyone's legs were. Paully Ellis took home the Bellum Hotel Award, working relessly all game. Harry Evans' form con nues to impress with the Commercial Hotel Award, followed by Fraser Brewster (Collins Court Butcher Award) and Ma Cordy (Club Tea Award). Michael Waters rounded out the best players with the Pick Ave Bakery Award. Sponsor's Day 2nd July when we host Mt Burr, sponsors play an important role in the running of the club, so we will be happy to host them on this day. kate bromley tantanoola NETBall club
The Tantanoola Netball Club congratulates Kate Bromley on an amazing achievement of 200 A Grade Games. Kate commenced her playing career with TNC in 2006 a er her move to the area from the West Coast. In her junior years Kate always played netball and was a talented junior who made the Eyre Academy back in the day. Kate has been an integral part of the A Grade team ever since her move to Tant with her love and knowledge of the game being an asset to the teams she has been a part of. She has only ever played one game in A Reserve (thanks Kez). As well as being an amazing asset to the club as a member and a player and doing so much work behind the scenes, Kate has earnt many individual accolades during her netball career at Tantanoola. In her second year at Tant she earnt herself the Coaches Award before runner-up Best and Fairest in 2009. Kate collected Best and Fairest and Senior Consistency in 2014 as well as 2019. Kate took some me away from netball in 2010, 2012 and 2016 to have her three children, Charlie, Pippa and Lachie but has always returned to the A Grade team in the GD posi on. Off the court, Kate is our current Treasurer but has been involved within the club for many years before now. She umpires almost weekly and helps with coaching and mentoring the young netballers within the club. Her commitment to the Tantanoola Football Netball Club does not go unrecognised. She is an incredible role model and player and we would be lost without her. Kate's children are now involved within the club playing football and netball respec vely so we are lucky to have Kate's mentoring, knowledge and love around the club for many years to come. Congratula ons Kate “Fossil” Bromley on your fantas c milestone of 200 A Grade games. Here's to many more.
Proudly supporting the Mid South East Football League
A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW - ROUND 11 ROBE v TANTANOOLA Robe host Tantanoola in what is set to be a ght game. The Tigers will be looking to redeem themselves a er their loss in round two and will come out firing. Tantanoola's Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe will put the pressure on for Robe's goalies, Sarah Laurie and Tori Gluyas, who will have to earn every possession in the goal circle and make every shot count. The tussle between Halle Carter and Casey Walker on the ring will be one to watch, with both figh ng for every ball. Emma Gould and Jami Walker's accuracy in the goal circle will be a focal point for the Tigers. A er another tough ba le, the Roosters may prove too much for Tantanoola and will come away with the win.
NANGWARRY v HATHERLEIGH The Eagles head down to Nangwarry this week to face off against the Saints, and they will be hoping for a win a er last week's loss to the Mozzies. Hatherleigh's strength through the midcourt in Erin Watson and Tegan Telfer, will allow them to pick off any loose balls and convert centre passes to add to their score. The defensive combina on of Demi Vanderhorst and Lara MacGregor for Hatherleigh will create pressure in the goal circle; however Nangwarry's Tahlia Wilson and Ange Pra will earn every pass and u lise their scoring opportuni es. Shannon Higgins and Hayley Burner from Nangwarry will put the pressure for Hatherleigh's goalies with their intercep ons and rebounds. At the end of the game the Eagles will come away with the points.
MOUNT BURR v GLENCOE A er a close contest in round two, both Mount Burr and Glencoe will be looking for the win this week, in what will be the match of the round. Glencoe's defensive combina on of Sarah Edwards and Chantelle Cocks will make Mount Burr goalies, Ebony Clark and Zoe Brown, earn every possession and fight for any poten al rebounds. The accuracy of Glencoe's Malinda Markiewicz and Jenna Paproth will prove to be a focal point, however the defensive pressure from Madi Hagge and Olivia Dean will mean that Markiewicz and Paproth will have to earn every possession. Laura Schultz will work hard for the Burr to keep Donna Jaeschke out of the game, and the tussle between the two down the court will be one to watch. A er another close game, Mount Burr will come away with the win.
KALANGADOO v KONGORONG Kalangadoo will come out firing against the Hawks on Saturday a er last week's loss against Glencoe. Tilah Buckingham and Evie Sealey will combine well in the goal circle, with Buckingham's height and accuracy being a focal point of Kongorong's a ack, along with accurate feeding from Rachael Perry and Kate Wright around the circle. Kalangadoo's Abbey Duncan and Kori Collins shoot with accuracy and move fluidly in the goal circle, however the defensive pressure from Lauren Kain and Reanna Weatherall will cause disrup ons. Jayde Peacock and Kristy Egan will apply to pressure and work the ball down the court with ease. Kalangadoo will combine well and come away with the points.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Our first proper winter day, thankfully the rain mostly held out for the girls. Our first game playing with the whole team and they did a great job. With lots of encouragement, and passages of play. They're ge ng the hang of clearing space so others can lead, or they can reoffer towards the ball. Incen ve was awarded to Kendall for an amazing game in defence with lots of great defending and intercepts. Well done girls. 13 & Under: Robe 20 Nangwarry 27. A very rainy and cold game on Saturday! We unfortunately didn't come away with a win, but we did see many of the girls skills be put into play. It was great to see the girls coming forward to the ball something that we have been working on in the first half of the season. We have a couple of weeks off now - me for some rest and recovery so we can head into the second half of the season strong! Milla Roach presented herself beau fully in the goal ring scoring her best player (The Pastry Place). Aleisha Hawkins had touches everywhere with ght defensive pressure - scoring her incen ve (Denton Sportspower). 15 & Under: Robe 24 Nangwarry 36. We were the lucky ones last round with the weather holding out just enough! Even though we lost, I was super proud of all of you for listening and trying what I've told you, it made a huge difference in you game. Everyone stepped up and played their role which was lovely to see. All of you should be posi ve a er this game, we can only keep improving and learning to work as a team :) Best player (The Pastry Place) went to Demi Bermingham and incen ve (Denton Sportspower) went to Jenna Turner. 17 & Under: Robe 52 Nangwarry 21. Good weather for ducks last round. We came away with the points in amongst the puddles which is the main thing. Maisie controlled the game and took away best player (Union Café). Incen ve (Denton Sportspower) went to Hayley who was consistent as usual and pulled in those loose balls to capitalise for a score. A couple weeks off to regroup and raise the bar again for the 2nd half of the year. Good luck to Maisie in Adelaide at Country Champs - we will be cheering you on from home! B Reserve: Robe 39 Nangwarry 14. Unless you were living under a rock on last round, surely you
NETball club notes would've heard the B Rezzers pulled off their first win of the season. We needed this win bad and clearly wanted it too with a decisive hard fought win over Nangwarry. S ll, it was a quarterby-quarter thing as we broke the game down and worked our way through, making sure we had the win. Good effort by all. Jess played a boomer in GD reading the play and con nually ge ng intercepts, whilst Mandz kept her player close to get those hands to the ball. Robbie and Cassie played solidly in the centre, which makes the difference as steady is our style of game. Rhiannon earnt incen ve (Union Café) by keeping her head in GS with nice leads out of the ring and confidence in her ability to both move and pass around the ring. Anne played a great quarter in WD helping the movement to the goal line, and Liv, Courts and Bai's contribu on in WD did not go unno ced. Lonny stacked it again but shot a personal best in goals to win her the Calcu a (Steve's Place). The girls are keen to celebrate at the Rooster Ball and then our aim is to build to the Kongorong game for another winning opportunity. Yeh the girls… B Grade: Robe 25 Nangwarry 27. Calcu a (Holiday) - Emma Brooks, Incen ve (Pure Luxe) - Ka e Agnew. A Reserve: Robe 59 Nangwarry 40. What a win! We played the most controlled and skilled game yet. Playing together as a team working the ball down the court with precision, and our goalies conver ng every me. Very much looking forward to the 2nd half of the season. Calcu a (Retail Therapy) went to Ash Hunt and incen ve (Steve's Place) to Kim Aus n. A Grade: Robe 66 Nangwarry 29. A er a slow start we found our feet and started to work the ball in well to the goalies. Sarah and Tori worked well in and around the ring, with some great long bombs from Tori. Annie and Lucy directed well and fed the ball in well, wai ng for the right op on and picking off lots of loose balls at any opportunity. Halle once again had a great game at WD, pu ng lots of pressure on her player and making it hard for them to bring the ball down the court. Geo and Ellen worked well in defence, making the most of every opportunity for an intercept or rebound. A solid 4 quarters of netball girls, great effort. Calcu a (Steve's Place) went to Tori and Incen ve (Union Café) went to Ellen.
The Tantanoola Football and Netball Club would like to congratulate Kate Bromley who this week plays her 200th A Grade game for Tantanoola. A great asset to our club who is not only a fantas c player and mentor to our younger players but also someone who is always there to help out when needed. We wish Kate all the best for her game today and hope there are plenty more to come. Congratula ons also to Emma Gould who was part of the Mid South East A grade side who came runner up at the Country Championships over the long weekend in Adelaide. Emma had an amazing weekend which saw her score a spot in the Top 12 players of the carnival. Well done Emma! Keep an eye out for informa on about our next club func on which will be Christmas in July so stay tuned for those details soon Junior 2: A beau ful morning at Nangwarry for netball and our li le girls were full of energy a er a week off. The whole team played AMAZING and we were quick with our passing down the court and into space, resul ng in many goals. Awards went to Lexi who stayed on her player like glue no ma er what posi on she was in and to Nevaeh who is amazing to watch, gives 100% and is ge ng be er every week. Last week they all deserved an award, well done girls! Junior 1: A brilliant game against Nangwarry where it really showed just how much the girls have improved. The whole game they all put 100% effort into all posi ons down the court. The girls moved the ball down the court, as they found space on the court and really tried to come in front. I love how the girls are so willing to learn and improve each game. Zahli and Stella received the awards as they both were stars on the court making strong leads, coming in front and ge ng great intercepts. So proud of all the girls. 13 & Under: Beau ful weather saw our highest score yet! It was great to see everyone moving more confidently down the court, finding and using space. One of our goals we set as a team was to score over 10 goals, which the girls achieved - and more! Jaycie worked relessly in the mid-court making some excellent leads, with Payton achieving intercepts and turnovers. Unfortunately our passing let us down, many rushed passes saw us lose turnovers to Nangwarry. Isabel and Tamika really found their groove in the circle making strong, quick leads and reading each other's movement much be er. Awards went to Tamika Long (McDonald's) and Isabel O'Brien. 15 & Under: We started strong on Saturday against Nangwarry. All the things we have been working on at training coming together and we were up by 2 at quarter me. Unfortunately as the game went on we stopped looking a er the ball and fell behind. Now we are coming together as a team we need to work on playing a full 4 quarters. On a posi ve note is great to see people using their voices and there were also some great passages of play. This is not one to get down about as we are all improving individually and as a team and it is great to see how far you have come since the start of the season. Demi Bevan got the Somerset Award for not only her movement in
a ack but also for listening and her pressure defending. 17 & Under: A solid performance girls which resulted in a really good win as a team. No ma er what combina ons we put on the court we are really good at adap ng to changes that come about and just get the job done. Our defensive efforts by Tayla, Charli, Megan and Holly was great and intense all game. In a ack, Ebs, Bella, Jade, Chloe and Charlo e - you all worked so hard as an a acking group and moved the ball well into the circle. Really awesome work girls. B Reserve: Fantas c game girls! Was great to see you all pumped up and working well together, even when we were missing so much of our team. You have all been working hard and was great to see it show out on the court. A big thank you to the under 17s, Chloe, Jade and Holly, you girls all played an awesome game and we couldn't have done it without you. Best players went to Kateesha Yates who dominated down in defence, picking up intercepts all game, we love to see your big smile out on the court. As well as Jade White, a er already playing your 17s game, you were such an asset in a ack, feeding the ball down the court. Special men on to Emily who stepped up and took charge in the goal ring, was great to see that leadership shine. Go Tiges! B Grade: Great comeback girls! We were lucky to get away with this game against a much-improved Nangwarry side. A er a slow start we really picked it up in the third and fourth quarters, I'm proud of how well you took on advice and ground out a good win. Gemmah and Kim kept up their super consistent work in defence, Ffion and Jodie really se led the midcourt well. Alice ran hard in the centre before having to come off and Laylah, you played a ripper in a posi on that you weren't comfortable with, you listened to instruc ons and adjusted your game perfectly. Kirsty, I reckon you played your best game for the year so far and combined superbly with Bek in goals. Let's keep training hard and see what we can achieve for the rest of the year! Tant 37 d Nang 36. Best players: Kirsty (Fi h and Madison), Laylah (Gino's), Gemmah (Bay Blue) A Reserve: It's the start of the second round already. It was a bit of a rough game but well done to you girls for keeping your head up. Let's go into this second round focussed and playing our best netball. Keep the posi ve support going through our team. Best: Michelle Robinson - Fosters Foodland voucher and Amy Mason - Since 56 voucher. A Grade: A great win girls. We came back a er a week off with intent and played so well as a team. We missed Emma last week but we had young Bella step into the side and did so seamlessly from the 17s. Madi and Casey ran hard in a ack all game and Kristy's defensive pressure and drive out was amazing to watch. Kate and Tay, again you guys are so agile and read the play so well. A big congratula ons to Kate for reaching 200 senior games, we are so lucky to have you and look up to you each week as a leader in our team. NETball club notes First congratula ons to Coach LT and his boys on their impressive win on Saturday. It is very exci ng to see so many Saints teams ge ng the points on the court and field in the 2022 season. Congratula ons to the 13's, 15's and A Res on their wins and B Grade were very close. Hayley and her girls saw a great improvement from their round one performance and these are all posi ve signs for our club. Brody's Bricks is a local self-employed bricklaying, block laying and stonemasonry contractor with over ten years' experience situated in Mount Gambier, South Australia. Brody played for a few seasons and also helped rebuild the clubrooms. We thank him for his con nued support in 2022. Junior 2: Good effort girls, everyone is improving their skills and growing every week, which is showing on the court. We need to remember to focus and listen at training while also having fun to ensure we all shine and grow as you girls are the future of our club. Best player award - Kenzie Clayfield (Penola Recycling). Junior 1: Good game girls... did well chasing the stray balls. Always having hands up. You all kept your heads up and kept going... need to prac se ge ng out in front more but we will work on that. Thank you Leah and Zoe once again for filling in for us. Congratula ons to Immy for best player, always going a er that ball and defending every pass. 13 & Under: Great team effort. All eight players did their part to secure the win. Kaylee had her best game for the season rebounded strongly and shot 15 goals in the second quarter. CJ played ght defence and passed extremely well. Ella C passed well and got many turnovers. Ella S had a fantas c game. She drove hard into the circle, rebounded well and didn't miss many opportuni es. James had a ripper of a game growing in confidence. He passed well and was always an op on for his teammates and when he went into goals, he dominated shoo ng 10 for the quarter. Ruby got her hands to many balls crea ng turnovers and rebounded well. Skye received lots of intercep ons, drove the ball down the court with ease and passed beau fully to the goalies. Paige had her best
NETball club notes game ge ng many intercep ons and finally ge ng a go at goals for a quarter shoo ng 6. Well done all. Fasta Pasta award went to James Petrie and Athlete's Foot drink bo le to CJ Epiha. 17 & Under: We are over half way through the season now and last week seen us come up against another strong team. Our girls were unse led for the first quarter but then started ge ng a feel for the game and adjus ng to the opposi on's game which was really good to see. The goalies were moving well in the circle and there was drive down the court with a lot of talk. Defences we're ge ng in front and ge ng many hands to the balls. We chased up many loose balls and were backing each other up which was really good to see the team effort. Keep your head high and keep working and the reward will follow. Thanks to the girls that filled in for us last week. Best went to Maddie and Tanisha. B Reserve: Wasn't our best game but there were s ll some great passages of play. We just need to remember to slow down in the mid court and play our own game. Defence are really star ng to come together and are playing really hard. Best players were Pauline Trigger and Kat Chaplin. B Grade: Bad luck girls. We almost had it! If we can make sure we are more consistent throughout the whole game we will see it our way more o en. Zoe had a ripper game in goals and Bel really stepped up in defence. We can hold our heads up at the fact that we had improved from when we played Tant last game which is exactly what I've asked for you girls. This week is going to be tough so let's find our grit early and work hard all game. Best players were Zoe Holden and Bel Spink. A Reserve: Well done to all 7 girls who took the court, how nice was it to actually play with our whole team for the first me this season. Demi Ingley and Jemma Parsons played a great game in the defensive circle and were well rewarded for their efforts. Taysha took a number of great intercepts and cleared the ball out of the defence well. Tamara and Cassie played a strong game in the centre and knew exactly how to feed to Megs and Demi in the goal circle their pa ence and talk allowed the play to be steady. Demi and Meg combined well to be strong and shoot well. Well done girls on win number 2 for the season. A Grade: Great game ladies, we came out strong and everyone worked hard for the ball and did what they needed to do. We s ll have some work to do to improve on our combina ons throughout the court but it is great to see that we are heading in the right direc on. Our goal was to reduce the margins in Round 2 and we certainly have started off well. It was a great team effort and I'm so proud of how we played. It was hard to pick best players, so a er ge ng mul ple opinions from the sidelines best players went to Shannon Higgins (RSL Award) and Hayley Burner.
Junior 2: In perfect condi ons we got off to a bit of a slow start. We regrouped a er the first break and focused on crea ng space and moving toward the ball in the a ack line. Our defensive pressure forced our opposi on to make errors which gave us more shoo ng opportuni es. Everyone did a great job at using shoulder passes today which was posi ve to see. Awards: Maggie Ma hews & Violet Fitzgerald (HLC), Charlo e Chambers (McDonalds). Junior 1: The J1 girls came out firing against Mt Burr. I was pleased to see them releasing strong, one-handed passes down the court into the space. Defending in front was paying off, ge ng finger ps to the ball, and chasing up the loose balls. All game, our goalies were using the front cut to get best posi on and shoo ng accurately. They were using quick release passes to each other in the goal ring and also using the wings to improve shoo ng posi on. The girls remained focussed for a full four quarters, without giving an inch. Defenders rebounded strong and controlled the ball back down the court. Mollie received the Java award for her very consistent four quarters of strong leading and ght defending. Kirby received the Ladies commi ee award for her spot-on passes and her determina on all game. 13 & Under: We got off to a strong start, with Poppy and Olivia Beggs crea ng many turnovers in defence. Leni gave us lots of drive through the centre of the court linking our defence and a ack line, however, we just couldn't convert in the second quarter. Unfortunately, our fitness, lack of drive to the ball and our passing let us down in the last quarter. Thanks Tilly and Livvi for si ng bench, you slo ed in seamlessly when you came on. Awards: Leni Carruthers (HLC), Poppy Fitzgerald (Corner Clip), Olivia Beggs (McDonalds). 15 & Under: A wonderful game from all players. We turned the table on our firstround result even if we did take it down to the wire. Leading by 7 at three quarter me we knew there was s ll work to do, a few things didn't go our way and Mt Burr came hard to put their nose in front but to the girl's credit they remained calm and managed to be 1 up when it counted. All 8 girls contributed in what was a real team effort. Rosie, you did a fantas c job talking to the girls, encouraging and good clear instruc ons you're going to be a fabulous coach. Thanks to Poppy, Olivia, and Leni for helping us out. Awards: Niah Faulkner (Ducky's Surf), Deni Brown (HLC). 17 & Under: Well, what a refreshing and long-awaited fresh start! The best four quarters we have played. It was incredible to see the girls finally play as a team, and not individual players. Elly and Niah grabbed every single ball they possibly could in defence, with Halle, Demi, Kalli, and Deni con nuously driving the ball down the court all game. Our goalies Dakota and Imogen have really stepped up, showing beau ful flow and accuracy that really pushed us away from Mount Burr in the final quarter. We s ll have to work on slowing down and se ling ourselves and u lising our angles but s ll we finally got a win! Awards: Elly Redden (Java Cafe), Halle Marino (Dentons Sportspower). B Reserve: Asking you all at the start of the game to go in posi ve and confident in yourselves and each other and that's exactly what you all did, and it showed. Even though we went down by 2, it was
a really good game of four quarters of solid consistent netball. Our intensity for the whole game was solid. The only cri cism I can come away with is our passes at mes let us down. Jess played a blinder in GS she was strong and confident and together with Nic and Sarah they all combined well together. Our defence line in Lucy, Fee, Amy and Jo worked relessly all game crea ng many turnovers. Staci, Grace and Sally in C and WA all had pa ence bringing the ball down and their passes into the goalies were delivered beau fully. Thank you to Sarah for scoring and Aneka for ming. Awards: Sarah Beare (Beachport Hotel), Staci Faulkner (HS&RC). B Grade: Back to the start of the round and we needed to focus on a solid win which the girls had a ripper start being up 12-4 at quarter me and con nued on to win 52-20. Our court play coming down the court is looking excep onal at mes, but we just need to keep our intensity for the full 15 minutes to not have so many lapses. Our conversion from turnover to score was much be er and we just need to keep prac sing the things we are trying to implement to perfect them. Meg Gray got to play a half in her preferred posi on and drove and fed really nicely and then finishing strong back in WD. Charlie has been shoo ng very well and con nued with great movement while Paris started in WD and finished in goals where she moved nicely. Hayley, Nat and Jas worked relessly all day with the a ack line looking very slick most of the me! The rock-solid defence end of Ella, Georgia and Sophie were impressive again. Wishing Ellie, a speedy recovery and we hope your back on court with us soon. Thanks to Heidi and Stacey for scoring and ming and to Linda for primary caring. Awards: Meg Gray (Somerset Hotel), Charlie Muhovics (Heaven on a Hanger), Paris Schroeder (HS&RC). A Reserve: The girls went into this game with a great mindset. They were asked to play with intensity and pressure to force errors and that is what they did. It doesn't ma er what combo I throw into defence; they all give 110%, we just need to work on shu ng down that baseline drive. With Olivia away with work commitments, the a ack looked a bit different, Dakota did a great job all game slo ng into goals. We need to remember that is we have shorter goalies not to put so much pressure on them with lobs over tall defence. Rosie and Helen are working well together in the mid-court and feeding into the circle. A great percentage booster, well done girls. Thank you, Sam Ne le, for scoring and Anna MacGregor for ming. Awards: Dakota Hateley (HS&RC), Rosie Ne le (Sassi's), Millie Smith (Ampol), Helen Hamilton (Igni on Fitness). A Grade: Not the result we wanted in what was a very flat performance. Some days you just can't take a trick and that was us, taking nothing away from Mt Burr who played a good, strong controlled game. It’s back to the drawing board for us, if there's any room le on it, to regroup and move forward. Chels had a good game and followed instruc ons and game plan for 60 minutes, while Demi showed her versa lity switching from GK to GA and maintaining a high work rate. The best thing about netball is there's always another game so onward and upward from here. Awards: Chelsea Galpin (Sassi's), Demi Vanderhorst (Somerset Hotel).

NETball club notes Thanks to our major sponsors Laura & Vicki Hairdressing, South East Property Sales, Kimberly Clark Australia, Your Choice Conveyancing, Banner Mitre 10, J&M Shanks Pty Ltd, Sonya Francis Photography, All in Balance - Brad Tilley Tax and Business Advisory, Clark & Sam Fal ng and Komma Media. 13 & Under: Well done girls, what a win and very exci ng right to the end. We went into this game unmanned with Becky in isola on, which made us make a few changes in defence. Great job in defence Sophie, Lexie and Callie in working together and pu ng lots of pressure on the ball and taking strong rebounds. Gemma at WD, great outside arm and ge ng hands over the ball crea ng many turnovers. Sabina and Isabelle played a strong game through the middle at C, coming front to the ball and looking forward down the court with great passing. Holly and Stella combined well in the circle and using the girls around circle, which we have been prac sing at training, played an important role in our win. Rebounding strongly and fantas c shoo ng from both girls. Keep working hard at training and our game will improve with each week. Thanks to Meg for umpiring, Jay for scoring. Awards went to Acky's Deli - Lexie and Andy's Bakery Sophie. 15 & Under: An unfortunate result. We started off flat coming from a round of no netball. We went into the last quarter figh ng, coming back down by 9 to only lose by 1. When things aren't going our way we need to focus on the posi ves and keep our heads up, and play our own game. Awards went to Abbey Subway and Sara - Acky's Takeaway. Big thank you to Kelly for scoring and Lisa for umpiring 17 & Under: This wasn't the result we were looking for beginning the second half of the season. The girls went goal for goal for the first three quarters, however let it slip away in the last. Despite many good passages of play, we made too many unforced errors which was assisted Hatherleigh to run away with the win. We need to work on our game intensity and playing out four consistent quarters. Thank you Lynne for umpiring and Wayne for scoring. Awards went to Jarrah, Mackenzie, Jemma and Faith.
NETball club notes B Reserve: Well done girls, under a lot of pressure all game, and s ll came away with the win. We have to take our me in choosing the right op ons bringing the ball down the court. Hatherleigh to their credit kept pu ng pressure all over the court, for 4 quarters, which we will learnt from and only improve in our game from this. Keep suppor ng each other when things aren't working, and change it when needed, especially when the pressure is on, is important to our success on and off the court. Heads up and we work hard at training and come out firing against Glencoe today. Thanks to Lara for umpiring and Wayne for scoring. Awards went to Kelsi - Beauty by Brianna, Dawn - Beauty by Hannah and Hannah - Sassi. B Grade: A tough game to start round 2 off. Hatherleigh came out firing and we found it hard to match their energy. It was another impressive effort from the defence, who worked really hard to get turnovers and worked a lot of the ball back into our end. Stacey put a lot of hard work in and showed a lot of fight. Well done to Lara and Jaz for also pushing hard in defence and never giving up. Tess, Abbey, and Lily all have centre a good go and worked the ball around the mid court. We dipped a bit in the third but came back with a bit more fight to finish off the game. Well done to Madi and Maddi in goals. Thank you to Abbey for si ng bench, and Leila for umpiring. Let's train hard this week and come out firing at home next weekend. Congratula ons to Stacey for ge ng best on. A Grade: We knew it was important to start the game well and with perfect condi ons we were able to do just that. Eb and Zoe were accurate in the goals, Madi, Olivia and Simone were defending well and our ball movement and drives were looking posi ve for Laura and Meg. Our legs began to re late in the game but it was so good to see that we could steady and keep control right to the end. What a fantas c team game, well played girls! Final score: Mt Burr 44 Hatherleigh 32. K&S Ampol Award - Ebony Clark, Fasta Pasta Olivia Dean, Cafe Melzar - Laura Schultz. Thanks to Maddie and McKenzie for si ng bench. Thank you to Lisa for umpiring, Marie for scoring and Tanya for being our primary carer.
Junior 2: You should all be very proud of yourself. The effort you put into the game was amazing. Everyone put what we have been learning at training into the game. Metalworx Award went to Billy for chasing a er the ball and ge ng front and calling out for the ball. Lico Award went to Bailey for ge ng front and driving down the court. Well done everyone for the effort that you put into the game. Junior 1: Bad luck girls - it was a tough game against a very strong team. Unfortunately we forgot some of the basics that we have worked on over the season. Eddie Kuhl Tyres Award went to Charlo e who was applying all the front cu ng skills we had worked on at training. Second best went to Mikayla who was clearing out from the space and calling nice and loud. Let’s work hard at training and learn from last week. 13 & Under: 23-47. Well done girls, another great game. Don't be too harsh on yourself as they are a top side. We started off really strong in the first quarter, then our silly mistakes let us down in the end unfortunately. Layla Hawke received Dycer Construc on Award for running hard at centre all game and leading hard to the ball. Second best went to Ruby Buckley for her posi ve a tude and playing wonderful defence, ge ng so many intercepts. Let’s really focus at training this week. 15 & Under: 25-64. It was very quiet on the court last week and due to injury and illness there was some different posi ons played. Mid court worked hard to bring the ball down the court. Sienna Hawke received the Maloney Plumbing Award as she had a never give up a tude and ran well in GA for the last half reoffering. Emma defended well and readjusted well with some rebounds and intercepts to get second best. Maddy drove hard, making her players work for each ball or posi on on the goal ring. Well done girls. 17 & Under: 56-28. Super effort girls and what an amazing turnaround from last me we played them! I'm so proud of how all 9 of you played it was a nice controlled game of netball and you are all improving so much every week. Our combina ons all over the court have grown so much over the last few games. Giaan got DeGaris Lawyers Award as everything I ask of her, she goes out and gives it a crack - she blocked really well and had many intercepts as well as driving down the court strongly. Lily was second best who really stepped up in goals and shot well. She then had a quarter in WA where she drove well and fed the other goalies extremely well. B Reserve: 34-50. Bad luck girls. Without our full strength side, we
knew it was going to be tough. Our second quarter let us down which meant we had to play catch up. With a few posi on changes at half me we came back in the third quarter which was a great team effort. Lily stepped up and played her first senior game and she combined very well with Bri in goals against a tough opponent. The defence worked hard all day with many intercepts. Key 2 Sale Award went to Krystal for a very controlled game and second to Bri for a great game in goals. B Grade: 63-37. Well done girls a solid team effort last week. With yet another new line up, we were able to find rhythm and convert opportuni es to be leading at most breaks. Max (Planta on Treated Timber Award) played a strong game in shooter making it very difficult for her opponent and she was well supported by Leanne. The defensive pressure by all across the court was impressive and created many turnovers. Your ability to adapt into new line ups is a credit to you all. A big thank you to Kayla for benching. Go Murphies! A Reserve: 32-57. Bad luck girls, but also a good match with a very new combina on in both ends. Thank you again to Kayla and Amber for playing as we had illness/absence in the team again but each week we con nue to adjust and work together to ensure we are scoring. Welcome Zoe into the team who is a solid mid quarter who drove all day and was there as op ons in defence as well to earn B&P Travel and Cruse Award. Laura you played fantas c you held leadership through the middle and provided scoring op ons. Abbie well done - good shoo ng and holding in the circle. Tameka and Sam it was a very hard day for you, but I thought you both gave a really good go at every ball. Well done guys - good effort. We can only improve each week from now. A Grade: 60-50. Fantas c game girls! Everyone came out wan ng the win and we worked our bu s off for the full four quarters. It was such an amazing team game by everyone. We all con nued to run through the ball even when we started to re. Amazing movement in the goal circle and accurate shoo ng by Jenna (O'Brien Electrical Mt Gambier Award) and Mal. Ashlea (second best) and Donna fed really well and were very pa ent to get the ball into circle edge. Great talk by Chantelle and some really good intercepts. Congratula ons to Chloe on playing your 150th club game your pressure all day was relentless and you con nued to drive out of defence well. Thanks to Nicole for scoring, Alyssa for ming, Alyce for your help and Laura and Chelsea for si ng bench. Let’s carry this form into our next game.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Our mini magpies have done it again. They have proven that with a li le hard work they can improve every single week! It is so tough to give out awards with every single one doing an amazing job, but last week Olivia and Tahlia came away with the prizes. Olivia playing a ripper in defence a posi on she hasn't had as much me in, and Thalia switching into goals at half me with our first goal and then they really started flowing. Willow had her first taste at centre and didn't disappoint, seriously the flow in the mid court is star ng to improve with all the girls learning how to find space and pivot with amazing foot work. Ariella playing most of the game in the mid court is star ng to hit her straps, and then Gracie pulled a fourth quarter like an absolute pro, proving her netball skills. Grace with lots of energy and best of all lots of voice, had a great game, and then comes Adele, this kid always has a en on to detail, switching from defence into goals with no worries and shoots the perfect goal, amazing technique! Elana came on for a half and was very present, all in all every single one showed improvement and should be very proud of their netball journeys so far. Keep smashing goals girls, your future is very bright! Junior 1: This clever li le team had another good week at netball. Lexi and Ma lda showed that they had been prac cing their shoo ng and the en re team put a lot of effort in to coming in front. TeKani's defensive skills have improved every week and Ella has been working on her passing which showed this week too. Kaboom: Ella Cooper, Maccas: TeKani. 13 & Under: Our team should feel very proud of themselves concentra ng so well on their individual tasks. Kiersten and Lucy combined well together, with some great passes and accurate shoo ng. Emmity (Devine Gi s) and Lexi (Hungry Jack’s) showed how far they have come in such a short me. Molly, Ava, Ma lda (Fasta Pasta) and Zara con nue to defy the odds against taller opposi on with determina on and great an cipa on. Hope Emily is soon well again. 15 & Under: We started a li le bit rusty with the lack of team training evident. A er the first quarter though we picked up our efforts. There was a more concentrated effort with our shoulder passes and naming the pass, but we can s ll improve. Let's keep working at training and improving our game. Shayden - Wendy's award, Ash Paradise Pizza. 17 & Under: A bit of a messy start before the game even began, but we se led nicely and adjusted to our brand-new line up. Everybody played their (o en new) roles well. Abby (Boost) stepped up and showed brilliant leadership and drive down the court, making herself a safe op on at all mes. Ebony (Wendy's) slo ed in well to the mid court and
NETball club notes then transi oned back to her home of defence seamlessly, ge ng plenty of ps and clean intercepts. Thank you to Shayden, Molly and Maya for playing and also adjus ng to posi onal changes so effortlessly. Shout out to Mel, arguably the most complex of juggling acts was executed - don't want to jump the gun, but I'm 99% sure Cirque du Soleil will be scou ng you for their lead juggler by the end of the season. Thank you to Sco for the cold drinks a er the game. B Reserve: A really pleasing result, well earned by all players. Maddy (Subway) was on fire in the first half with accurate shoo ng and following instruc ons to the le er - didn't do that “thing” once, well done! Jodi (Devine Gi s) con nued her consistent great form and reckon extra shoo ng prac ce is paying off appreciated Jodi! Gem (Intersports) and Emma were terrific in defence in their first real ou ng together a er some specialised coaching - thanks Narelle! Of course, with both ends firing we needed good transi on down court and Sam, Angie, Emma and Emily certainly provided that. Things are looking really posi ve with Chelsea s ll to come back into the team. Many thanks to Meg and Rhi for si ng bench again. B Grade: This was always going to be our toughest game and we started off with a great first half. They were able to make mely turnovers and run away with the win. We have lots of things that we can all improve on leading into the second half of the season and focusing on our own game we will be able to con nually build and improve. Steph played a great hard game in a different posi on. Imogene ran out a whole game in centre. A Reserve: A great win last week for our A Res and a really impressive team effort. It's really nice to see Maddy and Estella working so well together and shoo ng very accurately. The Glencoe shooters made Shan and Nae work hard all day but they adapted and kept consistent pressure to create ample turnover opportuni es. Anthea and Chloe applied fantas c pressure in the second half of the game and helped to push the scoreline out. Let's keep pushing to improve every week and make the second half of the season as good as the first. Birdie Blue: Maddy Bonanno, St Mary's Gin: Anthea Pa erson. A Grade: Last Saturday was a great opportunity to reflect on our individual performances and iden fy areas we each s ll need to improve on. We certainly did let ourselves and our teammates down with some basic errors, but it was very pleasing to see growth since round one. The me is now to up our commitment and efforts at training to con nue to build on our game. RSL - Abbey, Gail and Fasta Pasta - Re. Thank you again to our sideline support: Judy, Mel, Shan and Estella.

Sponsorship ensures that we can provide girls the opportunity to be a part of a club that fosters a love of netball, team spirit, experienced coaching and umpiring, also opportuni es to a end clinics and other compe ons. We are grateful for the support from all our sponsors. Thirza Walters, President Kongorong Netball Club We would like to thank our award and game day sponsors for their ongoing support: Arena Sports Store, Baker’s Delight, Birdie Blue, Boost Juice, Bunnings, Chemist King, Collins Court Butchers, Commercial Hotel, Crave Dessert Bar, Donut King, Evolve Hair & Beauty, F45, Fasta Pasta, Fi h & Madison, Hungry Jacks, Lima & Co, Malseeds, Muffin Break, O’Connor and Graney, OGR Ironman 4X4, Swallow Drive Meat Supply, The Body Shop, Vanity, Angelino Family, Kongorong Football Club, Ryan and Kane Brant. Junior 2: Was a very cold and slow start a er having a couple weeks off but the girls picked up very quickly and kept moving around to keep warm and keep the ball moving down the court. The mid court girls did very well bringing the ball down to the goalies. With some of the girls playing different posi ons they had a very good game. The award went to Mackenna – Donut King. Junior 1: A slow start in the first quarter a er two weeks off. Second quarter was moving be er down the court with defence stopping a lot of the ball. A big swap in posi ons made a big difference and made it tougher for Port Mac. Havvi's moving in the circle with Zayley made a strong goal area. All girls should pat themselves on the back a er their efforts. Best players went to Havvi and Claire - $5 vouchers. 13 & Under: Tough game last week, but the girls fought hard to the end. Lacey, Sophie, Paige and Gre a worked well ge ng the ball down the court with Lacey consistently making new leads. Imogen and Rahni moved well in the circle while Jac, Molly and Harmoni held their defence strong pu ng a bit of pressure on. Unfortunately our passes needed to be a bit stronger and more talk on the court. Something to work towards this week. The girls held their heads high the whole game which I'm very proud of. Best players went to Rahni Janeway (Kongorong Canteen) and Lacey Walpole ($10 Angelino family). 15 & Under: A er 2 weeks off it was great to see the girls back on the court. A great game of netball with everyone pu ng in 100%; the first quarter being our best. We s ll need to watch our passes and our
footwork and a huge thank you to the u/13 for filling in for us once again. Awards: Donut King - Alisha and Hungry Jack’s - Holly. 17 & Under: Tough game girls. We really need to be knuckling down at training and working on the small things to improve our game as we really let ourselves down. Best players: Evie Sealey - Spring Crea ve and Crave Dessert Bar and Becky Duivenvoorde - Fasta Pasta. B Reserve: Well done girls, you all gave 100%. Our defenders had a hard day as the Pt Mac shooter didn't miss many goals. But they were able to get a few turnovers for the day. Pleased to see a lot more talking on the court which helped with crea ng some great passages of play. I also think we were ge ng in front more than we usually do which helped make the game flow more. Awards: Courtney - F45, Le a - Vanity. B Grade: Awesome last quarter girls. We were down by three at three quarter me and managed to come back and end in a draw. The defensive pressure in the last quarter was amazing and you didn't drop your heads once, and all kept talking and encouraging one another. You should all be so proud of yourselves. Best players: Emalee Stokker - Vanity and Taylah Finnigan - Lima & Co. A Reserve: Four quarter grind to get the win. Great work by defence being on their toes and ge ng their hands on needed ball and rebounds. A ack adjusted to challenges from the defence and finished well. Let's keep working together at training to keep the momentum into this week. Awards: Georgia (Fasta Pasta) and Zara (Vanity). A Grade: Great effort girls. We showed that we are capable of some great netball and when everyone plays their roles we are able to match our opposi on. Having the big break probably didn't help us as we dropped off in the last quarter and couldn't finish off our game with 4 consistent quarters. However, I was so proud of everyone with how they stepped up and played their role. Evie worked the front drive perfectly and was able to capitalise well, Rach, Kate and Emily worked the ball down the court with pa ence and Sarah (Vanity) and Riley (Fi h and Maddison) were relentless in the circle with constant pressure forcing errors which earnt them best on for the day. Last week we wore black arm bands to pay our respects on the passing of life member Mel Tilley. He was such a respected trainer and friend to all of the Kongorong netballers plus any other opposi on player who needed treatment. He was always happy to give a p or two to any of the girls. Also famous for his delicious banana cakes! Our condolences and thoughts go out to Shirley, Stacey, Kristy and their families. RIP Mel.
ROUND 10 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW Glencoe 60 def Kalangadoo 50 Kalangadoo made the trip to Glencoe in what was set to be the match of the round. The Murphies took the first centre pass, with a stepping call resul ng in the Magpies scoring the first two goals of the game. Glencoe's Donna Jaeschke and Ashlea Edwards then took control of the a ack end, working the ball pa ently onto the circle edge to allow their goalies to se le into the game. A collision between Glencoe's Sarah Edwards and Kalangadoo's Kori Collins ra led the youngster goalie pu ng the onus on Abbey Duncan to con nue to ck over the scoreboard for the Pies. Glencoe went into the first break leading 16 to 14. The Murphies goalie combina on of Jenna Paproth and Malinda Markiewicz came out with confidence finding the post with ease and being fed accurately by A. Edwards. Kalangadoo's Kirsty Egan was able to link well with Duncan to transi on ball into a ack despite high hands over pressure from the Murphies Chloe Pfitzner. The defensive pressure from S. Edwards and Chantelle Cocks li ed in the Murphies defensive circle crea ng plenty of turnover ball. Despite the efforts of Lauren Kain and Reanna Wetherall to get hand to ball, the Murphies headed into the break having taken the second quarter by 6 goals. Kalangadoo came out firing from the main break, upping their an in defence and transla ng this through their full court structure. Wetherall stepped up in the Pies defensive circle and began to get hand to the high balls looking for Markiewicz. The tussle between Jayde Peacock and Jaeschke intensified with neither wan ng to back down from the others physical presence. Duncan found another gear, using her speed to create plenty of space under the post. The Murphies were able to gain back some momentum toward the backend of the quarter to halt the run on from the Pies. The quarter con nued goal for goal with the deficit for the Pies only 4 goals at the final break. The work rate from the Glencoe team li ed in the final term, working hard to maintain possession against the body on defence from the Pies. Full court defensive pressure from the Murphies enabled S. Edwards to go out hun ng for the intercept, resul ng in a heavy momentum swing for the Glencoe side. Despite bodies beginning to re all over the court, the pressure con nued to come from both sides. The Murphies goalies finished strong both shoo ng at 100% accuracy with Markiewicz conver ng 11 of the 17 goals in the final quarter. A strong final quarter push from the Murphies allowed them to overrun the Pies by 10 goals for the second me this season. Best players - Glencoe: Jenna Paproth, Ashlea Edwards; Kalangadoo: Reanna Wetherall, Abbey Duncan.
Hatherleigh 32 lost to Mt Burr 44 As we hit the halfway mark, we see how ghtly contested this season is. Mt Burr won the toss and took the centre pass which saw them first on the scoreboard. Mt Burr applied the pressure hard and fast early on which forced the home side to fumble and create errors. Mt Burr were quick to jump and were able to capitalise on their turnovers and were in full control of the first quarter going to the first break with a 6 goal lead. Neither team made changes at the first break, Hatherleigh came out with a lot of fight and intensity. This saw much more of an even scoring quarter. Mt Burr's Ebony Clark found plenty of space in the goal circle which saw her convert easily for her side. The mid court matchup between Erin Watson and Laura Schultz was proving to be a great tussle. Hatherleigh stepped up their defensive pressure, which saw them gain ball and convert but Mt Burr s ll stayed in control. The link between Ebony Clark, Laura Schultz and Madi Hagge was proving to be dangerous and
unstoppable. The Mozzies went to the main break up by 7. The home side made mul ple changes which saw Demi Vanderhorst take the GA bib and sent Maddie Redman back into her familiar ground in defence to combine with Lara MacGregor. Chelsea Galpin took the WD bib, Georgia Hunter went to WA and Tegan Telfer to the bench. Mul ple changes for the home side but it seemed to work. Demi Vanderhorst and Abby Wight started combining very well in the goal circle. They were able to find be er space and were able to convert well. Mt Burr remained unchanged, the Eagles got on a run and started to chip away at the scoreboard. A few defensive pickups for the home side and some great touches from Chelsea Galpin helped change the momentum, Hatherleigh pegged it back, but Mt Burr went to the last break leading by 8. Final quarter saw Tegan Telfer come into the middle and Erin Watson take a break. Hatherleigh con nued to apply full court pressure, but Mt Burr played with control and smarts. Ebony Clark had a huge last term with 14 goals alone, which saw her out score the home side who managed to add 12 goals to the board. In the end Mt Burr proved way too strong which saw them take the win. Best players - Hatherleigh: Demi Vanderhorst, Chelsea Galpin; Mt Burr: Laura Schultz, Ebony Clark.
Nangwarry 35 lost to Tantanoola 57 Tantanoola started out strong with precise passing around the circle from Casey Walker and accurate shoo ng from Jami Walker they scored the first 3 goals. Nangwarry didn't let the slow start bother them, with some fantas c intercep ons from Shannon Higgins and Hayley Burner and accurate shoo ng from Ange Pra and Tahlia Wilson the scores were ed. Both teams capitalising on their centre passes made quarter me a very even ball game. The quarter finished with the Tigers ahead by only one goal. Tant came out firing in the second quarter with great defence from Tayla Rowe and Kate Bromley. Many balls were turned over and Tant were able to get a jump on Nangwarry. Ebony Lawson was having a great ba le with Casey Walker trying to stop her drive onto the circle. Down the other end, Kylie Heaver was working relessly for her team trying to u lise every possession Nangwarry had whilst having a tough job on Kristy Varcoe. Bella Poulish stepped up this quarter and worked well with Jami Walker to score every turnover opportunity. Half me saw the Tigers take a 10 goal lead. Nangwarry came out determined in the third quarter, turning over Tant's first 2 centre passes. Kylie Heaver and Ange Pra stepped it up a notch for Nangwarry and moved the ball well down the court and with Wilson and Pra 's accurate shoo ng made a great start to the quarter for Nangwarry. Defence efforts from Tayla Rowe, Kate Bromley and Kristy Varcoe were fantas c and they were able to capitalise on any errors Nangwarry had made. Casey Walker again proved why she is a player to watch out for. Her drive onto the circle is extremely hard to stop and the passes between her and her sister Jami makes it extremely hard for any defenders. Shannon Higgins and Hayley Vanderhorst worked hard in defence to try and stop anything they could and with a few intercepts around the circle from Hayley Burner this li ed Nangwarry's confidence, but Tant were s ll too strong this quarter. Going into the last quarter Tant came out firing again. With a few intercepts from Varcoe and Bromley, Tant were able to get a run on Nangwarry. Higgins and Vanderhorst con nued to work hard in defence and were very well supported by Ebony Lawson. Nangwarry were able to turn a few balls over and with the smart
moving of Heaver and Pra were able to score a few back. Jami Walker con nued her dominance in the goal circle for Tant shoo ng with high accuracy throughout the game. This quarter saw a very even contest, but the damage was already done and Tant were able to walk away with the win. Was a fantas c effort by all players from both teams. Best players - Nangwarry: Shannon Higgins, Hayley Burner; Tantanoola: Casey Walker, Bella Poulish.
Port MacDonnell 59 def Kongorong 44 Port MacDonnell hosted their fellow neighbours, Kongorong, who were keen to play a er having two weekends off. Port Mac were well rested following their loss to Glencoe and were seeking the points. In the first game of round 2, Kongorong's young side came out strong, playing a fast game. Kongorong shooter Tilah Buckingham u lised her height well and was on the receiving end of many long bombs across the court. However, the Demons were working hard down the defensive end to gain turnovers. Demon's Kirby Carrison came off with blood towards the end of the first quarter, allowing youngster Lara Wilson to hit the court. Port Mac led by 3 at the end of the first term. Kongorong came out figh ng for the ball and looking to gain the lead against the Demons. Both teams began to se le in and work to defeat their opposi on. Kongorong's young Riley Buckingham worked hard to keep experienced goalie Toni Gilmore under control. But Gilmore was shoo ng with impeccable accuracy and was hard to beat. Port Mac's gun Alana Winter played on 17 and Under player Evie Sealey. Winter u lised her height well and gained many turnovers for the Bay. Demon Brooke Williams again found herself playing in centre, and she and Kongorong's Rach Perry were vital midcourt players for their teams. Despite Kongorong's efforts, the Bay maintained their lead and held by 6 at half me. The Bay made a slight change by bringing the fresh legs of Jess Lynch onto the court to replace Narelle Lewis. Emily Lightbody worked to contain Lynch and limit her opportuni es to get the ball. Port Mac transi oned the ball with ease down the court, but at mes they were too quick for themselves allowing Kongorong to gain possession of the ball. Tilah Buckingham took on the majority of the shoo ng as Demon Winter had young Sealey under control. Despite Port Mac defender Belinda O'Dine's best efforts, Tilah's height made it easy for her to gain possession of the ball. Down the other end, Hawk's Sarah Lucas was playing excellent netball and made it hard for the Bay's Carrison to score. Although Riley Buckingham's agility allowed her to cover Gilmore down the court, the Demon was unstoppable in the ring. Port Mac con nued to build on their lead and entered the final quarter in the lead by 8. Port Mac looked to dig deep in the final term to, whilst Kongorong worked as hard as they could to take over the lead. Tilah Buckingham struggled to score, and the Bay took advantage of any rebounding opportuni es. The Bay's Winter stepped up and took many intercepts making it hard for Sealey. Port Mac's Williams played a consistent game against Perry, working well with Lynch to feed into the circle. Kongorong's Kate Wright struggled against Liza Mutch who defended well and limited opportuni es for Wright to gain the ball. Despite the best efforts of Kongorong defenders Riley Buckingham and Lucas, they were unable to gain the lead and were defeated by Port MacDonnell. The game was played in great spirit and was a great spectacle. Best players - Port Mac: Brooke Williams, Alana Winter; Kongorong: Riley Buckingham, Sarah Lucas.
