loved club man, Mules played a crucial role in the Tiger's rise up the premiership table from the mid 2000s to successive minor premierships in 2008 and 2009. A disciplined, hard-working, hardtackling and rebounding defender, Mules helped get the best out of the men around him. On behalf of everyone associated with the Mid South Eastern Football League, we congratulate Ben on this worthy recogni on of a wonderful SANFL career.

On Saturday, Nathan ‘Ninja’ Muhovics will lead the Mount Burr side onto Mick and Jean Walker Oval for his 250th senior game (248A/2B). With younger brother Jack playing alongside him, he will be watched on by his many other rela ves who can be found do ed around the Mozzies ground week-in and week-out, proudly watching on or helping out. Wearing his now iconic helmet, he has played in 6 A Grade premiership wins and a Grand Final loss, won a Walker Medal, a Stan Jones Medal, a club Best & Fairest and been runner-up on two occasions. In 2018 he took on the coaching role of the Senior Colt team guiding them to a home premiership in 2019. In summer Nathan has long been one of the best allrounders in the Millicent & District Cricket Associa on winning several Associa on Cricketer Of The Year awards and earning life membership of the Mount Burr Cricket Club, while playing in premierships alongside brothers Jordan and Jack. tom pegler Last week Tom Pegler played his 150th senior game for the Hatherleigh Eagles. Known as the “Junkyard Dog” for his tenacity and liking to be on the bo om of the pack, Tom has been a big part of the Hatherleigh Reserves side over the last 12 years. Over the years he has been a great leader and has won many club awards including a Reserves Best & Fairest. A raking le footer with speed to burn he may not be, but his effort and commitment to his teammates is second to none. He was an integral part of the premiership side in 2018, whilst also being playing co-coach of the 2019 premiership side as well. He is cheered on every week by his wife Emma, and two children Charlo e and Ollie. Congratula ons Pegs, all the best!

jack skeer Congratula ons to Jack Skeer who this week plays his 100th senior game for Hatherleigh. Jack started out his junior career in 2006 in the Junior Colts and progressed through the ranks for his first taste of senior footy in 2012 as a colt. Jack’s junior career at Hatherleigh was limited as he a ended school in Adelaide, playing back at Hatherleigh in school holidays before returning in 2012. 2013 saw Jack play at full forward for the year where he kicked 48 goals in 14 games and played in the A Grade premiership. Jack returned to Adelaide for the 2016 season to play with his old school mates where he won a premiership with the Div. 1 Reserves and was named in the best on grand final day. Since returning to Hatherleigh in 2017, Jack has been an important player for the Eagles at both ends of the ground and his dedica on was recognised this year when he represented the Mid South East in the interleague match with the WBFL.

VIEW FROM THE HILL Just before we get into this week's round of matches – what a great achievement for Kalangadoo's Ben Mules to be inducted into the Glenelg Football Club's Hall of Fame. Inducted at number 51, what a massive honour to be recognised at this level. I'm sure that the en re League congratulates Ben on the award. No real surprises in last week's round of matches, a couple of unexpected scorelines, but the winners were predictable. The match of the round between the undefeated Kalangadoo and red-hot contenders Port MacDonnell did not disappoint with a ght, tough contest right up un l the final siren. Kalangadoo started confidently kicking the first 2 goals of the match and looked like they were well in command, but Port MacDonnell weren't about to hand over the game so easily and fought back in the la er half of the quarter to have the game all ed up at 2-3 apiece at quarter me. Port MacDonnell con nued to push in the second as both sides tried to assert their authority and at half me the visitors held a slender 8pt lead. The third quarter, both sides appeared to have their moments and opportuni es to take control of the game, but just as one side would appear to gain the ascendancy the other would quickly rebound and score against the flow of play and bring the game back to an even keel. At ¾ me Kalangadoo had edged in front by just 5pts and the game was on a knife's edge. The last quarter was all Kalangadoo as they took the game on and con nued to press the ball into their forward line eventually coming out victors by 27pts. Josh LaRocca and Jus n Bromley were the home sides leading goal kickers with 3 each with Lachy Jones, Bre Lindner and Michael Krieger with 2. For Port MacDonnell Kevin Thompson again led the way with 3 with Brandon Newton, Jake Turner and Ma Stark all contribu ng 2 to the scoreboard. Be er players for me were Jones, LaRocca and Andrew Stone and for the visitors Ned Wilke, Mark Smith and Zack Williams in his 200th game. Both teams had key players missing which makes the next me they meet all the more interes ng. Down at picturesque Robe, the home side didn't have it all their own way against an improving Nangwarry. Although the scoreboard showed Robe victors by 137pts, Nangwarry posted their second highest score for the season. Robe were a model of consistency throughout the match and did not waver from the game plan and structure that coach Kelly has in place. Robe are a very young side with a huge amount of upside and the bench would've been rightly pleased with how they went about their game on Saturday. Zac Deane seems to have found his kicking boots again with another 6 goals this week, Jack Kelly and Billy Laurie both contribu ng 5 goals, Riley Dickinson with 4, Jack Sneath and Ethan Cornish with 3 and young Flynn Peel with 2. For Nangwarry, their standout forward was Ben Just who kicked 5 of their 8 goals and club stalwart Ben Deamer contribu ng 2. Be er players named for Robe went the way of Kelly, Tom Wachtel, Deane, Kane Dunn, Sneath, and
Sam Clements. Whilst for the visitors Just got the nod for BOG followed by George McWaters, Luke Thomson, Deamer, Tom Vanderhorst and Marcus Thomson. Kongorong hosted Tantanoola at Hawk Park and by the looks of the scoreboard, either it was a very ordinary day weather wise, or the game was an arm wrestle from start to finish, or perhaps both! Only eleven goals were kicked for the en re day and Tantanoola just about pinched the game but fell short by 9pts. Kongorong's Carl Slape, in just his second game for the Hawks was the only mul ple goal kicker for either side with 4. Ma Cordy was in and under all day and along with Ma Weistra were the prime movers for Kongorong earning them first and second best respec vely. Mr Consistent, Michael Waters picked up third best, with Will Vickery and Slape rounding out the home sides be er players. For Tantanoola, not much changes here either with Chris Oliver and Jack Dawe named their sides 1st and 2nd best player. Other be er players for Tantanoola were Jordan Ha , Jack Pearce and Alec Roberts. Over at Glencoe they took on Mt Burr who are s ll a mathema cal chance of making finals however their form on Saturday would suggest otherwise. The first quarter was a very even affair, with the wet and slippery condi ons slightly favouring the home side. With no dis nct ruckman and the ball spending a lot of it's me on the deck due to the condi ons, Glencoe were able to push forward on numerous occasions to be just 1pt down at quarter me. Mt Burr coach Reece Duncan obviously stated a few home truths at quarter me as the first half of the second quarter was all Mt Burr. Glencoe struggled to even get the ball past centre with the Glencoe defenders under constant pressure. The skill level of Mt Burr was what set them apart in this quarter registering 6-4 before Glencoe got some reward for effort with a couple of late goals. A shuffle of the magnets at half- me for the home side had the desired effect with a much be er start and a couple of quick goals put them within striking distance, but Mt Burr were up to the challenge and two quick goals in succession put them again clear. Glencoe were running out of legs and this showed in the last quarter as Mt Burr were able to kick 4-3 to Glencoe's 1-4 to come away with a 45pt win. For the victors, Hamish Smith in his first game back since round 2 kicked 3 goals as did livewire Taylor Allen. Tom Hales was their other mul ple goal scorer with 2. For Glencoe Tom Edwards was their lone mul ple goal scorer with 2. Josh Fiebig got the nod as best for Mt Burr followed by Sam Wallis, Smith, Jack Muhovics, Taylor Allen and Brodie Gregory. For the home side, and Pa y Mitchell, Sam Giersch, Carey Megaw, Dylan Childs, young Isaac Mulraney and Edwards were named their best. To this weeks matches and I'll start with the Hatherleigh, Robe match at Hatherleigh. Both sides will be desperate for the win. Robe need to keep winning to retain 2nd spot and Hatherleigh just need the win to stay in the four. In round 3 when they last meet it was Robe by 30pts. Robe I think are
a far more even side and could prove difficult to match up on. Hatherleigh have again been struck by injuries which has limited the op ons available to them in recent weeks. Both sides play a similar brand of football, relying on their ball carriers to deliver into their respec ve forward lines. Mid-fielders are not renowned for their accountability so restric ng their ball use and effec veness will be paramount to both sides. Robe's forwards look a li le more dangerous than Hatherleigh just at the moment and I would expect Robe to retain 2nd spot come Saturday night. Kalangadoo venture to Mt Burr where I would expect it would be same old same old for the Doo boys. They are just coas ng at the moment, occasionally hi ng top gear when the need arises and looking forward to September no doubt. Mt Burr whilst recording a convincing win on the scoreboard played intermi ngly on the weekend and it these lapses where Kalangadoo will take full advantage and punish them on the scoreboard. Kalangadoo doesn't look like dropping a game any me soon, they won't drop this one either. Nangwarry host Kongorong on the best winter oval in the League. Nangwarry will once again be out to improve on their score line from their first-round encounter and if they do this it will be their highest score this year. The con nued improvement of the Saints is generally pleasing and with this li le bit of momentum let's hope the scoreboard cks over at regular intervals for them. Whilst it would be good for them to get a win finally, I unfortunately can't see this happening this week. Kongorong are not the same side as they were at the start of the season, so brings them back to the pack, so to speak. Just how far we will know la er this a ernoon. The final game of the round is at Tantanoola who host Glencoe, who will be playing for the Neil Von Duve Trophy. This is a winnable game for both sides and this fact won't be overlooked by the coaching brain trusts of either side. In the first round Glencoe were convincing winners by 12 goals but expect the margin to be much, much closer today. Tantanoola's Chris Oliver and Jack Dawe have been the backbone of consistency for the Tigers, likewise for Glencoe Pa y Mitchell and Dylan Childs have rarely been le off the best players list this season. Both sides struggle up forward however the inclusion of Jak Ryan for Tantanoola at least straightens them up and gives them a target to kick to. Glencoe's forward structure is more of a kick and hope strategy, but if they are able to lower their eyes and deliver with a certain degree of effec veness to the likes of Alex 'Sauce' Hentschke and Mick McRae within their forward 50 they just might be able to put a winning score on the board. Glencoe to retain the Neil Von Duve trophy, but only just. Next week we take another break for the SA Country Championships. We wish all those selected in the training squad the very best as you vie for selec on into the Murray South East Zone Team.

Last week we travelled over the hill to Glencoe with only the A Grade taking the points but the Burr boys were very compe ve in the other three games. It takes many volunteers to run each game so thanks to everyone who puts their hand up to help out. It is much appreciated. What a great night it was at our wine and dine last Saturday. Great food, great music and great atmosphere. Thanks to everyone that came along and all the people that helped out to make it a great success. Our next func on is Flight Night a er the Nangwarry game. More info to come. Also tonight a er the game a few locals are having a jam session so hang around for that. Congratula ons to Nathan Muhovics on his 250th game today. A loyal and great club man. Junior Colts: Last week we came up against Glencoe, we had a couple of boys away so we had to borrow a couple of the Glencoe boys which is greatly appreciated. We lost our ruckman early on unfortunately and hope he bounces back from it well. Our boys had to dig deep and they did what was asked of them. Best for us was young Jayden Garner who gave his all and tackled all day, Charlie Bevan who dug deep and ran all day, Deklan Brant who went into the ruck and worked hard off the ball, Ollie Smith who was clean off the ground and looked dangerous up forward, and Dallas Montouri who was strong in defence and never let 2nd qtr

the ball past him. We look forward to this week and con nuing to improve going forward. Cheers Tom. Senior Colts: Last week our boys took on Glencoe in what was a hard fought game but unfortunately we lost by a narrow margin. The boys tried hard all game but couldn’t quite capitalise on their good work. Best players were Kallan Bevan, Trey Norton Li le, Geordie Whennen, Finleigh Altschwager, Muhammad Abduvahobov and Jayden Poulish. Hopefully we can get some reward for effort this weekend. A Grade: Away at Glencoe last round and was good to get another W on the board. Though our boys finished well but like the week before took a li le while to get started. Good to have Big Smithy back in and playing some good football straight away. Our forwards worked well and exci ng to have a good spread of goal scorers. Best players were Fiebs, Sam Wal, Sco y, Jacko Muhovics, Tay Allen and Brodie Gregory. Was a great night at the club Saturday with the place packed and everyone enjoying the evening. Well done to all involved in making it such a successful night! Back home this week for a big match against Kalangadoo. All the best to club legend Ninja Muhovics who plays his 250th this Saturday. A great achievement for a loyal Burr boy. Been an absolute privilege playing alongside you this season! Go Burr! 4th qtr

Round 11 saw us take on Port Mac in two must win clashes in the Senior grades. It was great to have footy back a er a two week hiatus, due to interleague and our scheduled bye. A cool drizzly day made for some great contested, hard footy across the four grades. Under 11: The li le tackers were back in a big way, on the field they were superb. But off the field they looked even be er. Midfield Meats and UDC kindly sponsored the Under 11 and Auskick program with a jumper for each of our 40 "Mini Magpies". It was so refreshing to see a swarm of kids aged 5-11 decked out in Kalangadoo apparel! Hopefully we can con nue this rela onship/sponsorship into the future as we endeavour to encourage more juniors to make Kalangadoo FC their club of choice. Junior Colts: The kids came up against a bigger, hungrier Port Mac who ran out winners by a comfortable 60 points. The development of this young group of kids is s ll of the utmost importance and regardless of the opposi on or state of play, Searlo and his team are doing an outstanding job at developing these kids into good young footballers and good people. Well done on a very compe ve game, keep working hard and striving for the best. Senior Colts: The boys had a tough week again. The focus of this group has been purely development and enjoyment. There are a lot of new faces, who are experiencing their 1st years of football. Once this group of young men develops the ability to stay in games for longer and compete effort a er effort, we will see some more posi ve results on the scoreboard. Keep working hard, listen to your mentors and I'm sure a win is just around the corner. Reserves: What a game! What a four quarter performance! Tys and co. dug deep last week and all found an extra 10% to give the team, which is expected to be the new norm. We started the game extremely strong, but didn't capitalise in windy, dewy condi ons. Our forward pressure,

our desire to hunt the ball carrier and the overall intensity was pleasing to see. Our colts coming through the ranks have provided some great energy around the group. Connor Gen le played his first senior game at age 15 and absolutely turned the game. He proved to be a focal point down forward and was a real spark! Tyler Jones and Fuzzy Mansell also played their best games for the season. Both pushing for senior selec on. Great win fellas, keep the momentum going! Seniors: Unlike the Ressies, the Senior side took a li le while to warm into this game. Taking no credit away from Port Mac who controlled the 1st half of play. They used each other well and pressured our ball carriers. A er half me we kicked into gear and played a more familiar style of footy, our short hit up game and pressure footy stood up when it ma ered and we eventually ran out victors by 27 points. Well played and well ground out! Last Friday night, club legend and one of our favourite sons, Benny Mules, was inducted into the Glenelg Hall Of Fame. A pres gious honour and something only 53 others have done prior. On behalf of everyone at Kalangadoo, congratula ons Benny, you are a true superstar of the game, you've dedicated your life to football and it is something that is very, very well deserved. Congrats mate! Saturday night saw the Social Club kick off their first major event for season 2021 with Groovin the Doo. It was a great success, drawing a crowd from far and near. Well done to all who organised and helped set up the event! We all look forward to the other events you have in store for us! We head to rival neighbours Mt Burr this weekend, in what will be a tough game on their home deck in the Seniors. They are playing a good brand of footy, they are young and quick. I think with the inclusions of Tyebo McManus and Chris and Ben Mules we should get the job done! Good luck and see you there! Go Maggies!

Today we welcome the Von Duve family and Glencoe to Tigerland as we hope to win back the Neil Von Duve trophy. Neil was a great club person for not only Tant and Glencoe but was also a league umpire for many years and it is a privilege to be able to play for this trophy in his honour. Congratula ons Bek Millowick who received her C Grade umpiring badge last weekend. Every club struggles for umpires each week so it's great to see people like Bek stepping up and doing such a great job. Tickets for the Rump and Red Night (happening on July 17th) are now on sale. previous week but in the first quarter it was not looking too good. To our boys credit we never threw in the towel and the rest of the game was a good even contest. With a few guys sick the last few weeks hopefully everyone is feeling well and we can keep on improving and get a good start today. Thank you to Kongorong for lending us some kids and coming across with a great a tude. Best players: Brayden, Ashton, Braydn, Kaden, Ethan and Will. Awards: Chad (Dentons), Evan (Jennings), Ethan (Hungry Jacks), Summer (Maccas). Senior Colts: Under 17 boys went down to a be er team on the day but to the boys credit they all know they can play be er than what they did so let's all regroup this week and go out and get that winning feeling again. Best was Brodie, Will, Paddy, Corey and Ryan. B Grade: Hi everyone. We ventured over to Kongorong to face the Hawks but unfortunately they proved to be too fit and well drilled for my guys. A massive injury toll sustained against Robe the weekend prior proved a challenge in ge ng a side together. I'm very proud of the new guys who put the jumper on for the first me and helped the club out, unfortunately it's just been one of those years in the Reserves for us - very up and down. Best were Pidge, Chaps, Nelso, Blake Bowman and Nick Cory. A Grade: G'day everyone. Last weekend the Tiges made their way down to Kongorong to take on the Hawks on their home deck. Both teams started with plenty of opportuni es early. Through the game each team went goal for goal, once the rain se led in late in the game a couple late goals saw Kongorong finish the be er side on the day. Junior Colts: The Junior Colts are back in the swing of things, playing out their earlier schedule against teams with which they experienced a lot of success. The minis started off strong with a 4 goal opening quarter, while only giving up a solitary goal to the Mini Mozzies to lead by twenty points at the quarter. The flow of the game was going the way of the Murphies with the mids and backs represen ng a brick wall that was impossible to penetrate for the whole of the game and four quarters of good consistent footy from the whole team was too much for the hard figh ng Burr team, running out victors by a comfortable 11 goal margin. Haasey and Dropsy had their kicking boots on last week, spurred on by the write up of last week obviously, kicking 4 goals apiece and limi ng the misses. Best players once again featured those names we are becoming very familiar with, forming the engine of a good, young side. Leslie Jagger is in red hot form at the moment, taking out first best, as is young Lachlan Brierly who once again featured, last week at second best. Third best was Kaleb Price who is hard to miss out on the field, built like the proverbial outhouse, and we are all wai ng for the appearance of the beard similar to the one Dad sported at that age. 4th and 5th best sees the re-emergence of the doubles combina on H. Gordon and S. Haase who both con nue to impress, while young Jack 'a ack' McGrath played his best game so far this year to feature in the best for the first me of the season. Senior Colts: The Senior Colts would have headed into this contest not wan ng a repeat of the tension from the previous mee ng with a last minute kick saving the game. From the get go, it was clear that this was going to be a toughly fought contest. Both sides refused to take a backward step with some hard, physical footy being played. The bodies were flying in and there was some strong tackling, spoiling and shepherding going on, drawing plenty of reac on from the sidelines. The game was a seesawing affair, with both sides having the momentum at different stages throughout the game, but a 4 goal to 1 third quarter put the Murphies in a strong posi on heading into the final term. But a sense of deja vu washed over the ground as the Burr boys gave a late surge in the final quarter, drawing closer to the Murphies score with me winding down. Fortunately for the young Murphies, they had done enough early on and managed to hold back the persistent Mozzies to earn a 16 point victory. Ben Weedon once again led from the front with his physical bodywork and ginger mullet flying, while Isaac Mulraney once again was par cularly dangerous in the forward 50 with 4 goals on the day. Third best had me doing a double take with M. Mickan, thinking back to the days when the Crows were actually any good, but no, it was Mace Mickan causing Boof to salivate with his bucket-like hands, clunking mark a er mark across half back and playing a stellar game, ensuring he's welcome to return to the club at any me. Cam Brooks and 'Gee' Ros-Smith were both elusive and produc ve all day to feature at 4th and 5th best, while Timmy Mutch was reliable as ever, taking out 6th before backing up for his second game in the Ressies. A good win by the lads, hopefully the momentum carries on to next week. Reserves: And now to the game everyone has been talking about, with the reappearance of none other than the Egg Head himself. Word had spread since Thursday night selec ons that a return may be imminent, but it was far from a sure thing with a few obstacles in the way. Mouldy football boots that hadn't seen the light of day since 2019 were reluctantly donned, and the old long sleeved number 27 undergoing a quick patch job to be able to slide onto that immaculate body. But at the end of the day, the $20 per goal from club legend JB himself got Egg over that white line. So it was with this sense of enthusiasm that the boys took the field ready to face the Burr boys in a game they knew would be a tough slog. The first quarter was a back and forward affair, but it was the Glencoe side that
2nd qtr
3rd qtr
took advantage of their opportuni es, with some stellar delivery to Cuz up forward to get out to a 22 point lead by quarter me. The second quarter was much of the same, but with the scoring opportuni es drying up a bit and with the back 6 playing well to limit the Burr to a solitary point. By the third quarter, with a 40 odd point lead, Coach Wit started to look a tad concerned with the injuries moun ng to leave no one on the bench, and the boys nearly dead on their feet. The Mozzies made a li le headway in the fourth quarter, but luckily for the Murphies the good work was done early and the deficit was too much to overcome. Pulfy was fantas c all day earning BOG honours, repelling a acks down back, but also playing in the middle in the second half to help keep the momentum going, even though he lost a fair bit of claret from a whack to the nose. Mad Dog Agars played with intensity all day and was an important link through the middle at second best, while the skip didn't have the opportunity to remove his name last week to appear at third best. Cuz was fantas c up forward all game and slo ed 4 for the day to get 4th and Braedo rucked well all day and put in a lot of effort around the ground to play undoubtedly his best game for the club to feature at 5th. Rounding out the best was Timmy Mutch, who backed up a great game in the Senior Colts with another solid ou ng in the B's. A er much protes ng from the coaches box, coach refused to put Egg in the best, sta ng he'd never hear the end of it, but hopefully we see him out there again soon, as he definitely added something up forward. Special men on to Jimmy Edwards, pulling the boots back on a er a lengthy absence and playing a solid game for the Murphies all over the park. I bet there were a few sore spots come Sunday. A Grade: The Seniors took the oval with some important inclusions and a few blokes feeling fi er a er some layoffs from injury and a couple of games under the belt. The side also welcomed Tommy back into the mix a er missing a week due to the birth of his daughter Willow. I know everyone at the club is sending their congratula ons the way of Tommy and Rudell and wish their growing family the best for the future. The first quarter began, and with it a bit of rain that slickened the deck, seeing some tough, contested footy all over the ground with only a point in it at quarter me. Frazer was no doubt looking for a more consistent effort through the game with many contests throughout the year seeing a lot of scoreless quarters, or uneven scoring throughout. The lads definitely put forward a much be er overall effort throughout the game, kicking 2.3 in the first quarter, and averaging this score each quarter for the rest of game to finish 8.12 on the day. Unfortunately the Burr boys were a touch more consistent, playing good footy to run out 45 point winners. Frazer is obviously a man of his convic ons, refusing to listen to the banter of last week, doubling down and awarding Pa y Mitchell best on honours for the Murphies again. Pa y has taken his game to another level this year, eleva ng himself to the 'elite' er in company of names such as Packet, Gecks and from days gone by, The Rock. Gierschy con nues to be reliable week-in, week-out and is looking the goods, regardless of how much he complains about his body being shot. Carey Megaw at 3rd best played another good 4 quarters of hard running football and was no doubt in the ears of the umpires pushing his case for some votes, while Gecks was another strong contributor on the day to pick up 4th. Isaac Mulraney backed up well from Senior Colts to put forward possibly his best senior game for the club while Tommy Edwards slo ed in at 6th while also leading the goalkickers for the Murphies with 2. Hopefully today's effort provides some momentum heading to Tantanoola where the boys can contest for a win in what will be Jack Miller's 50th A Grade game for the club. Jack has been a great presence around the club for many years now and we wish him all the best today, and hopefully a win is on the cards!

Well, Robe reminded us that football is in fact a wet weather sport when we arrived last Saturday with very wintery weather. The trek always proves hard with many teams not having full sides so thank you to the Junior Colts who each week step up and fill in Senior Colts. Thanks also needs to go to the Senior Colt boys who then step up and fill the senior sides. We also had several guys who do not normally play turn up for a kick in the B Grade to help fill this side. The commi ee would also like to acknowledge the improvement the A Grade side is beginning to show, whilst many people are si ng in the background con nuing to say we should fold because we s ll have not won a game, we as a club can see the improvements and will con nue to hope that the light at the end of the tunnel is becoming a li le closer. Tickets for Auc on Night will be available this weekend so please see Tamara or Aidan for these. We will accept cash or bank transfer so please see the Facebook post for these details. Li le Saints: Kids had a good day down at Robe. We played in a bit of a free for all with the Robe kids, so our boys got to play against each other this week and they relished the opportunity. Plenty of real good footy played and the lads enjoyed themselves. Junior Colts: We hit the road to Robe to what was looking like being a wet day of footy. Thankfully we missed the rain for the juniors. The boys played a great game of footy again against a handy side. The amount every one of our players has improved over the season makes for a great game of footy to watch. We fought the whole game un l the last siren but unfortunately did not get the win. Archer again proved to be unstoppable with his style of play as well as Bennet and Harry also having a red-hot crack. Riley and Wya seem to be an unstoppable force in the back line stopping a lot of Robe’s goals and really pu ng the pressure on. Our game was awesome, but we just never got the score on the board. Do yourself a favour and come and watch our young Saints play a game of footy, you will not be disappointed. Our a ack on the ball and our tackling is second to none. Keep your heads-up boys and keep playing the way we are, and we will be in with a chance of finals footy. Best for the day were Archer, Harry, Riley, Bennet and Taj. game against Robe at Robe last weekend. They had their 3 college kids back who were all built like senior A Graders. So, it was a real credit to the junior players who stepped up and done very well again cheers! Jonah slo ed a nice goal early in the game and there were some good patches of play by the older kids. Riley Lock did a great job in the ruck and held his own. I asked the boys to finish the game by giving their all and keep Robe to under 20 goals and for us to kick 1 and they did me proud. B Grade: With undoubtedly the toughest road trip in MSE football (Robe at Robe) we surprisingly had one on the bench heading on to the ground. During the warmup Garty hurt his calf, so unfortunately we had to all slug it out for 4 quarters. In the 1st 10 minutes our pressure was outstanding and for most of the first we were with them. Then the second quarter happened, and the rest was history. Jeremy Weyers in his 2nd game for the club was outstanding and his physicality in the centre helped us half a lot of contests. Josh Clayfield kept presen ng all day and found a lot of the pill. Jack Stocker did himself no harm of ge ng back in the A Grade with a handy game at half forward and half back. Ma y Thomson tried hard in the ruck all day and the back 3 of Vesa Virtanen, Gus Thomson and Dion Dinnison done everything they could to stop the avalanche in the second half. Hopefully with a few more back we can sustain good football for longer patches. A Grade: Last week against Robe at Robe was a real posi ve for our boys. We improved from round 2 when we played them going on to kick 8 goals which was 7 more than the first me. Our ball movement was very good in patches, and we kept possession well. The wet weather proved to be a bit of a headache in the first, but we adjusted in the second. A big well done must go to Libba for kicking a bag of 5 which was the first for the club since 2014 I believe. This week we would like to thank our weekly award sponsors: Jens, Fasta Pasta, Gambier Village Pharmacy, Australian Fish Market, South Aussie, Dan Murphy's, McDonalds Mount Gambier, Nangwarry Pastoral Co., Dress Me Hire Co., Deland Engineering, Nangwarry Serv Well, Penola Recycling Depot, BP Nangwarry, Trident Tyre, Banner Mitre 10, Blue Lake Motorcycles, Pines Hotel Tarpeena, Bunnings Mount Gambier.

Four wins from four in the footy last week, and it was great to see the numbers in the club a erwards, and those that stayed to enjoy the tunes of “Halfa 6 Pack” (Adrian, Mal and Tanya). Good to see a few 'old' faces around during the day, for Past Player's day also. Many thanks to those that supported the wood chop on Sunday, and to the commi ee, players and supporters that turned up on the day to cut, split and load it, a good li le fundraiser for the club. Match reports from last week are as follows: Minis: Thanks to Tant for a good fun game and Brodie for umpiring. Abbey Brant and Havana Beard were back last week, both playing a great game. Jimmy Whi y again put in another consistent effort. Special men on to the usual suspects Noah Von Stanke-Dowie and Koby Galloway, who both made the right decision to pass and give teammates a goal when they knew they could kick it, it was great to see them bring others into the game which is hard for kids that age to do. Good luck at Nangwarry today. Junior Colts: As we welcomed an undermanned yet determined Tantanoola, it was a chance to get some game me into our minis who haven't been able to get a lot of me. We welcomed Blake, Clancy and Noah into the team for the 4th me this year and watching them run around, looking to be enjoying themselves, and each found a bit of the ball. With 5 players going across to Tant to make up numbers, our structure and set up was a li le thrown out of whack. We managed to jump out of the blocks in the 1st half to be up by 5 goals at half me. 2nd half we switched things around even more and only managed a couple more goals to Tant's 3. Good to see some good passages of team footy throughout the game and another new player in Deegan Bogie registering his 1st goal for the club. Best on ground and spent 2nd half of the game playing for Tant went to Ryan Angelino who was in amongst it for the 4 quarters and set up plenty of passages for both sides taking the Swallow Drive Meats Award. Second best and Rocks Shop Award went to Jobe Janeway, who is growing in confidence every week and really holding down his spot in the midfield with quality possessions and plenty of run. Another of our midfielders in Rhys Newton is really enjoying his role and finding plenty of the ball and providing the forwards plenty of quality footy throughout the 4 quarters took home the Rocks Tavern Award. Having been looking forward to this game for a few weeks, Deccy Richardson was up and about early and was in and applying plenty of pressure while ge ng the ball out to our runners received the Mick Mullan Encouragement Award. Jacob Gordon was another to spend half a game for Tant and enjoyed the freedom on the wing and found plenty of it to receive the Coaches Award. The Angelino Family Award could have gone to nearly anyone on the team, but Lily Gordon who is star ng to find her confidence again and with strong head over the footy and pressure on the ball carrier took the award home. A few things to work on during the week as we look for con nuous improvement and towards taking on Nangwarry who are improving each week and will provide a tough contest. Go Hawks. Senior Colts: Last week saw an important part of our season and our desire to stay in touch with the top 4. Tant were hungry for the ball, and tested us early, but to the boy's credit they persevered and come home with the bickies, so to speak. First best went to Maverick Cooper who is stringing some real consistency together at a high level, and we hope to see him in the 2 o'clock game before too long. His ability to hit top speed in 2 steps is something very few can do, and as such he received the Ma hews

Petroleum Award for his running, hard a ack and mul ple possession game. Janeway Concre ng Award for second best on the day was awarded to Brodie Von Stanke-Dowie for his shut down role on Tant's skilful midfielder that plays in the A Grade week a er week. MT Wheels Award went to Cohen Janeway for his reless efforts in the ruck all day, in a different role for him with Jake having A Grade commitments, Cohen jumped all over his opponent in the ruck and was handy around the ground presen ng well and holding marks at important stages in the game. Badenoch's Award will be enjoyed by Riley Maconachie for his reless run and carry off the back flank and wings. He was able to break the lines and setup goals through his foot skills. Next award was for George Stanley's strong defensive work and tough a tude through the middle that I'm sure there would of been some sore Tiger boys Saturday arvo. The Spot On Fishing Award went to Harry Langlands with his silky skills and running ability was handy trying to bring the ball out of the backline and transi oning through the middle. We look forward to taking on the Saints today. Reserves: In a ght contest for the first half of the game our boys were playing well, just weren't talking and were missing easy targets. In the third quarter we kicked away to a 6 goal lead which we ended up winning by. Best was Andrew 'Noddy' Telford who had the ball on a string all day. Liam 'Bobby' Durcan was our most dangerous forward as much as I hate to say it, taking out second best. Third was Wayno A will followed by Mark 'Rowdy' Hunter who is enjoying having a kick again a er a few years off. Jack Mullan con nued his fine form in fi h best, with Brayden 'Frosty' Frost rounding out the best for the day. Seniors: A long awaited win on the board with the fellas rallying together to get the job done. Not the best of condi ons with a wet, slippery ball and surface we had to adjust to suit and managed to hold on and take the four points. Ma Cordy con nues to impress selectors with his consistent four quarter efforts and received the Commersh Hotel Award. Ma Weistra is another solid performer week-in week-out, receiving the Collins Court Butcher Award. Michael Waters con nues to step it up on a weekly basis to take out the Killara Food Centre Award, and Will Vickery made it through another game uninjured, playing some great footy to receive the Club Tea Award. Carl Slape has se led into the team well and will be a huge asset moving forward as we try to cover the growing injury list, awarded the Killara Food Centre Award. Today we take on Nangwarry and they are not to be taken lightly. A consistent, four quarter effort, across the whole ground will be required to bring home the four points. A er today's game we head to the Blue Lake (Golf Links) Bar & Bistro for award presenta ons, with everyone welcome to come along and enjoy a meal also. Next week is a week off for most, wishing those represen ng in the Zone team the best of luck. Our home game the following week against Hatherleigh, is our Beyond Blue Round. We ask that people donate a can or two of cat or dog food, maybe even a bag of dry food, at the gate - which we then pass onto the South East Animal Welfare League in memory of our beloved Wes Milne. Dona ons will also be accepted the week prior, and the week a er, at training, if more convenient. Good luck to all netball and football teams today. Carn' the Hawks!

Under 11: Travelling to Nangwarry last Saturday it looked like we were in for a wet and cold day! Turning in to the oval we were greeted with a glimpse of sun which as the day progressed turned into being a great day for football. A good turnout in numbers from our team again and a big thanks for the kids who played out the game teaming up with the opposi on and making a fun and even compe on. The team work con nues to be pleasing to watch as all the kids are sharing the ball around and kicking to teammates in the best posi on. There was some great passages of play maintaining possession all the way down the ground. We need to con nue to work on leading towards the ball rather than standing s ll calling for the ball over the back. When we did lead at the ball we were rewarded. Good job all another good display of U11 football. Award winners for the day were: HFC $5 award - Paddy McGrath had a real day out I think probably playing his best game for the year. He took some very telling marks and used the ball well. Ladies Commi ee award - James Ma hews who helped out playing with the Nangwarry team played a great game finding many touches across the ground. McDonalds award Archie Clark was brave and is really enjoying his football each week he is con nuing to improve his understanding of the game and how to find the ball. Junior Colts: A tough game before the bye against Nangwarry for our Juniors Colts with Nangwarry's pressure and eager to get the footy made it hard for our juniors to break away. I thought we had some good passages of play which resulted in goals but other than that it was an even fought contest! Chloe Bellinger had a good game showing lots of courage and her consistency was outstanding, young Jordy Akky was in and under working hard for his team, Brayden Chambers had a steady head in the back line when they had repeat forward entries, Fletcher had a good game sharing the role of ruck and sneaking up forward to kick a goal, Winston Figg played well in his role in the backline finishing the game up forward hi ng the scoreboard. good team effort. Best players: Chloe Bellinger (Denton’s Sportpower), Jordan Atkinson (Millicent Toy Kingdom), Brayden Chambers (Stumpy Nilsson), Fletcher Leopold (Peter Walters), Winston Figg (Ladies Commi ee canteen). Senior Colts: We ventured over to Nangwarry and encountered a compe ve Nangwarry side. The boys played well and came out victors. Tyson Atkinson was best on ground, ge ng plenty of the ball. Kaden Thomas was everywhere, pu ng in plenty of second efforts. Paddy Chay had his usual game. Riley Shanks gathered plenty of the ball off the back flank. Harvey Jones wreaked havoc on the Nangwarry defence. Thanks to the boys who played for Nangwarry and gave it there all. Reserves: A er a wet week we were lucky to come up against Nangwarry on their deck. We came out of the blocks fast and piled on 7 goals in the first term. We started to shuffle players around and a few of the back line were able to put goals on the board in a pleasing team performance. Pegs in his 150th game managed 3 goals. Reidy was our best player, sta ng a er the game that he had about 60 possessions and 20 clearances in a performance that shows he doesn't lack confidence. Kainy was good in the ruck giving our midfield first use all day. Other be er players were Thorny, Jasper and Hole in his first game back for the year. A Grade: We came up against Nangwarry last week who were very compe ve making us work for every possession. We eventually got on top, but Nangwarry never went away. Joe Rayson wound back the clock to be best on ground. Jack Gray and Jed Telfer generated plenty of run from the back flank se ng up mul ple forward entries. Sauce Brown had a great game up forward. Jase Bateman had a good game through the midfield and in defence. Paddy Chay backed up his second game of the day to also appear in the best players. Congratula ons to Myles Widdison who made his A Grade debut. Played great in defence all day, a acking the ball and he didn't look out of place.

Junior Colts: Last week we came up against a much improved Nangwarry side who are making a late push for the top 4. From Thursday night training I could tell that our players weren’t switched on to the best of their ability and that’s exactly how we rolled out on Saturday morning. Although the scoreboard fla ered us a lot we struggled to implement our game plan and convert when kicking for goal. Enough of the doom and gloom, a few impressive individual efforts helped us achieve a win by 47 points. While Gus and Mason missed a few goals they managed to kick 3 and 2 respec vely. With the midfield led by Cooper, Kaiden, Charles and Archie dominant for majority of the day it gave our forwards the best opportunity possible. Special men on to Jaxon Johns who was everywhere in the 3rd quarter, kicking a goal and nearly another 30 seconds later. We come up against the top side this week in Hatherleigh which is going to be a really good test and show us how well we are going. A be er a tude and mindset will be needed if we are going to give them a run for their money. Cheers Jack. Senior Colts: Last week we were back on home soil and ready to send the visitors packing. The weather couldn't make up its mind about where there it was going to rain or shine. The players being exposed to a variety of condi ons. We went into the game with some unexpected injuries and a new looking team. Nangwarry came with their 13 players and we gave them 2 of our boys to make 15 a-side. Great to see that all the Robe boys who went to play for the opposi on, gave it their all. Ethan Cornish even scoring a goal for the Saints and James Du on se ng up a goal in the first quarter. Nangwarry came out swinging and were not going to make it easy for the Robe boys. The sun was shining in the first quarter and ball was flying around. The Robe boys sending mul ple balls inside 50 pu ng the Nangwarry defence under the pump. I was clear early in the game that our full forward Codee Weston was going to have a field day in front of goals and ended up with 5 goals for the game. We piled on 6 goals to Nangwarry's 1 goal in the first. In the second and third quarters we really clamped down in defence not allowing Nangwarry to score. We rebounded the football quickly off half back with the likes of Ethan Cornish, Jimmy Murch, Ollie McInnes and Flynn Peel linking up with running handballs. Mason Keane rucked most of the day and was elite around the ground and kicked 3 goals for the day. In the last quarter, we changed the magnets around to trial some different players in different posi ons. This sent the vicecaptain, Jay Lines, down to full forward to try and score a goal. Much to his delight! He managed to score one and assist his teams to hit the scoreboard by laying some pivotal blocks. The rain started to take the s ng out of the game in the last 2 quarters and the players going silent on mul ple occasions. With plenty of scoring shots in the 3rd and 4th quarters we hit 8 goals in the second half of football. Nangwarry were by no

means stopping with Bailey Linder bombing the ball long to his teammates to score a goal in the last quarter. Overall, the scoreboard didn't reflect the final score for Nangwarry. We came away with a 110-point victory. Many of the Robe Senior Colts were named to play senior football. Congratula ons to all of the Senior Colts who played well in the later games. This week, we get back out on the road and head to our close town rivals, Hatherleigh. Reserves: The Reserve side took on Nangwarry on a dreary day at home with a number of Senior Colts again stepping up to cover the many injuries and NA’s for the match. The low numbers even saw the great J. Nicholson coming out of re rement to help us out! We came out of the blocks slowly and at quarter me coach Carter pondered whether this was related to Dougal Day’s choice of pre match music! We got back on track quickly in the second quarter and kicked 8 goals to none to put us firmly in control of the game. To the team’s credit we remained disciplined in the second half despite the comfortable lead and the drizzling rain to run out 19 goal winners. Tom Kurray handled the transi on from full back the previous week to full forward compe ng hard all day and kicking 4 goals. Jed Regnier also kicked four with a couple of beau ful long range set shots and Bram, Bird Man, young Mason and Clemmo kicked three a piece. A healthy win with no injuries was exactly what we needed and we now look forward to a massive challenge this weekend against Hatherleigh on their home deck. A Grade: The condi ons at Robe where ok especially considering the rain that had fallen in the past weeks. Nangwarry have improved since the start of the season as it’s players where gradually gaining fitness and an understanding of how their teammates played. That being said no one expected them to put pressure on the Roosters. The game was of reasonable quality and while Robe dominated on the scoreboard they did not have it all their own way around the ground. Robe’s forward line was func oning well and took a seven goal lead into the second quarter. Nangwarry con nued to put in an effort and were rewarded however they could not peg Robe back and once Robe opened the game up they were able to keep the scoreboard cking over. Intermi ent rain keep the surface slippery which at mes made it difficult to use the ball cleanly. While it had been an improved quarter for the Saints, the Roosters led by in excess of eleven goals at half me. The problem the Saints have is that they see no results for their hard work and effort and therefore can become disheartened. However the kept at it in the second half and con nued to pressure the Roosters. The last quarter was more of the same and Robe ran out the game well with everyone contribu ng which will place them in good stead for their upcoming game against Hatherleigh. Robe ran out winners by twenty one goals. Calcu a: Jack Kelly, Tom Wachtel and Zac Deane.

ROUND 12 A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW NANGWARRY v KONGORONG Nangwarry are back at home this week and take on the winless Hawks. Nangwarry played well against Robe, going down by a creditable 14 goals. Kongorong came up against the inform Tigers and went down by a whopping 45 goals. Nangwarry have been compe ve all season, making their opponents earn their wins, while Kongorong have struggled to find consistency and have suffered some big losses. Hayley Burner has been a shining light for the Saints, providing drive through the centre but also showing her versa lity playing in defence against Robe. Cassie Dinnison and Ange Pra have plenty of experience between them and will put the young Hawk defenders to the test. Down the other end of the court, Emalee Stokker has been a solid contributor for the Hawks while having many different partners in the goal circle with her. Georgia Bald has come up from A Reserve and has played some good netball in the goal circle as well as being a capable midcourt player. Both teams will be desperate for the win but experience will get the Saints over the line against the young Hawks. HATHERLEIGH v ROBE Hatherleigh will have fresh legs coming off the bye as they line up at home against Robe. Robe had a solid win against Nangwarry at the weekend and will be keen to put in another good performance. In Round 1 in the Anzac match, it was Hatherleigh who took the points. Hatherleigh have strength all over the court with a mix of youth and experience. Robe have showed some depth in their club this season, covering their injuries and s ll remaining compe ve. Hatherleigh’s defence line has been extremely strong so far this year with Maddie Redman and Sarah Broadhead combining beau fully, ably backed by Lara
McGregor in the wing defence role. Robe’s a ack line have played great netball, with Sarah Laurie and Tori Gluyas working well together and shoo ng accurately. This will be a good ba le. Down the other end of the court, Robe have had to use a few different combina ons due to injury and unavailability but Alannah Campbell has been in good form, along with Georgia Perkins. They will have a busy day trying to containing Maddie Pulman and Lacey Haines who have been playing well for the Eagles. Experience through the midcourt for Hatherleigh should see them have the upperhand, Sarah Faulkner and Tegan Merre are slick and good to watch at their best. Eagles at home against a determined Robe. TANTANOOLA v GLENCOE The Tigers are at home this week and take on Glencoe. Tant had a big win over Kongorong at the weekend, while Glencoe came out victorious against Mount Burr and would have been thrilled with their 6 goal win. Tant have been in red hot form and have strong combina ons in all thirds of the court. Both teams have had a long term injury this season that they have managed to cover and since then, both sides have been very se led which has no doubt helped their good form. Both ends of the court should provide good contests this week, Emma Gould and Jami Walker for the Tigers will come up against Emily Thompson and Sarah Edwards for Glencoe. Gould and Walker have been shoo ng well and work well together but Edwards and Thompson have been a very impressive defensive unit and will make the Tiger duo earn their goals. Down the other end the Murphies’ Caitlan Hentschke has been very consistent in goals, ably backed by Laura Edwards. The
Proudly supporting the Mid South East Football League
Tigers defence line of Tayla Rowe and Kate Bromley is a good mix of youth and experience and will not give an inch, making the Glencoe girls earn every goal. This game could go either way, there will be great match ups at both ends, as well as through the mid court. Toss of a coin this one, will be an entertaining match to watch. MOUNT BURR v KALANGADOO Mount Burr are at home this week and take on the undefeated Magpies. Mount Burr are coming off a 6 goal loss to Glencoe, while Kalangadoo weren't really pushed by Port MacDonnell and took the points easily at home. Mount Burr would be disappointed with their loss to Glencoe and will be looking to bounce back this week. This match will be a great spectacle. Mount Burr’s defence team of Heidi Clark and Madi Hagge have been listed in the best players regularly and are playing great netball. The Pies goalies, Melissa Russell and Abbey Duncan have also been in superb form, shoo ng with high accuracy. This ba le will be an enthralling one to watch. Down the other end of the court, Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty have also been in good form and shoo ng accurately but they will be pushed and placed under pressure this week with Chelsea Croser and Mikaila Pi working well together in the absence of Chloe Pra for the Magpies. The midcourt ba le will also be one to watch, Jayde Peacock and Jane Auld have been strong for the Pies, while Laura Schultz has been consistent for the Mozzies. In Round 1, it was the Magpies by 7 in a ght tussle. While Mount Burr would love to reverse this result and will be doing all they possibly can to get the points, I think it will be Kalangadoo that comes out on top... just! Port MacDonnell has the bye.

NETball club notes
NETball club notes
The Mount Burr Netball Club is proud to have Sam and Clark Fal ng, Igni on Fitness, and Kimberly-Clark Australia (KCA) as major sponsors for the 2021 season. Junior 2: Another great game girls. Everyone is star ng to work well with each other. So much improvement each week. Coming up against a tall Glencoe team we need to make sure we are coming front for the ball. Defence in the circle is working well and as a result we are ge ng some good intercepts and great to see the use of the outside arm. Well done again. Awards went to Sydnee (Toy Kingdom) and Isabelle (Acky's Deli). Junior 1: The girls played a really great game against Glencoe. They put in a lot of effort to get the ball down to our a acking end, and all girls showed great leadership even off of the court. There are s ll some things we need to work on like the court work we have been prac cing at training, steadying it down the court, calling for the ball, and coming in front of our player. The girls all showed great dedica on on Saturday. Awards went to Grace (Ackys) for showing what we learned at training and listening and Stella (Donut King) for sharing the ball around and great talking and leadership out on court. Great job girls. 13 & Under: Well done girls. We started slowly, by hal ime we played a much be er team game. We worked hard all over the court on our defence, and finding our players. We need to work on our spacing on the court and awareness of each other. Keep working hard at training and we will see improvement. Thanks to Shannon for scoring and Laura for umpiring. Awards went to Holly (Andy's Bakery) and Kaylei (Acky's Deli). 15 & Under: Slow start to the game. We need to come out ready and revving in the first quarter. We s ll need to work on using our voices and encouraging each other when posi ve things happen. In saying that, it was s ll a great game with accurate shoo ng from our goalies and tough defence down the whole court. It is amazing how you girls are able to adapt to new posi ons. We are so lucky to have such a versa le team. Let's come out firing against Kalangadoo this week girls. Awards went to Lily (Sportspower) and Oliviah B (Andy's Bakery). 17 & Under: Certainly not one of our best games, especially against an improved Glencoe side, with
the final score not fully reflec ng how hard Glencoe made us work for this win. We struggled with execu ng the basics well and as a result, lost confidence in ourselves and each other out on court. We had some good passages of play and managed to finish the game strong, but really need to focus on playing 4 consistent quarters that reflect what we are capable of as a team. Let's con nue to work hard at trainings and implement what we are learning out on court. Awards went to Charlie (Sassi) and Kelsi (Mad Penguin). B Reserve: Bad luck girls. Glencoe came out firing right from the start, and we played catch up netball all game. We did have some great passages of play throughout the game, but only in patches. Let's come out firing this week against Kalangadoo. Thanks to Dawn for umpiring, and Sally for scoring. Awards went to Karen (Millicent Florist) and Bec (Harper & Co). B Grade: We had to work hard all game and it was good to see our team dig deep and not give up. Georgia and Kelly worked hard all game and got some great intercepts. We need to work on taking the ball cleanly and making good decisions. A Reserve: Bad luck girls, unfortunately, Glencoe were just too strong and snuck away with the win. The strong presence on court and overall hustle from Glencoe saw some errors from us that they were able to convert and sneak away with the win for the day. We had some good passages of play and kept the first half of the game close but unfortunately, we were just outplayed. Well done to Claudia and her work within the goal circle, earning her the Millicent Chemist award. Also to Ella, who received the Harper & Co award, for her high work rate throughout the midcourt playing an influen al role bringing the ball down and feeding the circle. A Grade: In wet condi ons we were able to get off to the start we wanted with great defensive pressure and conver ng in a ack. In the second quarter, we struggled to get the ball into our goalies with our own unforced errors cos ng us the lead. We fought back in the third to regain the lead but were unable to hold onto it at the final whistle, going down by 6. Thanks to Lisa for umpiring, Heidi for scoring, and Tanya for being primary carer. Thanks also to Heidi Eldridge for helping us out.
A great result for the club across the board for the first half of the season with all teams si ng in strong finals conten on and four of these teams si ng top of the ladder in their respec ve grades. At this point in the season, we would like to once again take this opportunity to thank all those that are sponsors of the Kalangadoo Netball Club for the 2021 season. Junior 2: It's good to be back a er a couple weeks off. All the girls tried hard and did a great job in cold condi ons. The only thing we need to prac ce is once we have the ball is to pass it on instead of holding on to it for too long. Best players were Gracie Malseed pocket rocket at GA received Penola Recycling. Jorja McLaughlin played well in centre and created a lot of space received SAL award. Lastly Tekani was great in GD picking off the ball and rebounding in the goal area received Copenhagen award. And coaches award went to Grace and Heidi. Well done everyone. Junior 1: Welcome back to netball li le Magpies! A er a couple of weeks off we took our me to se le back into the game. It was great to see everyone listening to feedback and working hard to add it into their game. Well done to all the girls who tried different posi ons, there were some excellent combina ons and passages of play. Awards: Molly (Paradise Pizza) who showed great leadership and skills on court and Ashley (Fasta Pasta) for fantas c front cu ng and strong leads to the ball. 13 & Under: A er a slow start we got into the groove of some very good netball. Our best players were Alice (best on court) and Lucy (Macca's award), closely followed by Maya. Keira got the Copenhagen award for her con nued improvement while Ma lda did everything asked of her. 15 & Under: Illness and injury prior to the game certainly didn't help our cause. However I was pleased with the girls second half effort. Ebony (Athletes Foot award) was outstanding, con nuing her good form from Country Championships, while Maya (paradise Pizzas) made a real impression with her half at centre. Georgia also showed her versa lity at GS.
17 & Under: Well done girls. I con nue to throw combina ons at you and you con nue to perform! It is pleasing to see us working so well as a team. We create a large amount of turnovers but need to focus on our passing so we don't waste those opportuni es. We are on the home stretch un l finals so let's make the most of every training and match day. Holly - F45, Kori - Beauty by Re. B Reserve: What a close game with only one or two goals separa ng the teams throughout the match, un l the last few minutes of the last quarter. Considering it was our first game without Abbey and we haven't played for a couple of weeks our loss must be kept in prospec ve, although we certainly had more than our share of unforced errors! Our best were Deb (Pines Hotel voucher) and Rhianna (Body Shop), closely followed by Brianna (BFT Body Fit Training) who put in a sterling performance in a “new” posi on. Special thanks to Georgia, Emily and Maddy - they not only sat bench, but did “the club spirit thing” by helping out in the canteen! Greatly appreciated. B Grade: A er a two week break the girls came out firing in the first quarter cemen ng a really solid lead. Bel and Gina were consistent for the first quarter and rebounded anything they missed. Port Mac gave us a good run in the second quarter and our lead was not pushed much at all. Shanae and Nicole were unbelievable all game turning the ball over me and again. Lucy proved she could make an impact as a defensive rota on supported by Brianna at WD who hasn't played there much. Jolie had a stellar game and made sound decisions feeding the shooters. Solid win and can't wait to con nue the second half of the season with a great bunch of girls. Best players: Shanae Neale Athletes Foot, Jolie Crowhurst - Body Shop. A Reserve: A er what felt like an eternity between games a er the long weekend off followed by a bye we definitely looked a li le sluggish compared to how we were playing at the end of round one. Schultz was working over me the whole game pu ng lots of pressure on the opposi on a ack line and causing lots of turnovers while Jamiee was her usual cool calm collected self and when thrown into a non-familiar role of GS played exactly as requested making plenty of movement and space in the circle. Special men on to the other Jamie on her return a er injury, hardly missed a beat and a welcome addi on back to the team. Let’s keep training hard and ensure we have all stepped up to our role and are playing the best netball we can come finals. Kylie Schultz - Shelton's Butcher Awards, Jaimee Ryan - Kalangadoo Organics Award, Jamie Ryan - F45. A Grade: Coming off a couple of weeks break, it was great to start the second round with a strong team performance. It was pleasing that we were able to begin the match strong and quickly adjusted to new combina ons. Defence had plenty of cha er and hit their groove, causing many turnovers. Mel and Abbey had some great movement and found plenty of space. The kids were up to the challenge and worked hard. Awards: Mel (Kalangadoo Organics), Mickey (Shelton's Butcher).

NETball club notes Junior 2: We only had 4 players last week so firstly a big thank you to the li le Kongorong girls Isabella, Alyssa and Zoe for filling in for us, also to our J1 girls that helped us out. We had some great leading and cu ng in front and scored a few goals which really boosts the girls’ confidence. Award (Maccas) went to Shelbi for trying her absolute hardest at GK and GA. Brilliant game girls! Junior 1: What a fantas c game the J1s had. You worked so well as a team. The defence placed consistent pressure resul ng in mul ple turnovers. The mid court led swi ly in front and passed the ball quickly making the flow of the game work in our favour and the a ack players confidently moved their players around the goal circle and finished off scoring mul ple goals. It is clear that you have all been listening during prac ce and that you are developing important knowledge and skills for the court, well done girls! Awards: Hungry Jacks - Peyton, McDonalds Tameka. Both girls showed great leadership and consistently worked hard in their posi ons throughout the en re game. Well done. 13 & Under: Bad luck girls against Kongorong. You tried your best and never stopped figh ng for the ball. We had lots of great patches of netball. Defence was a highlight of this game as we were really ght and got our hands to lots of balls which was great to see. The movement in the circle is going great and we are having a crack at lots of goals. We just couldn't move the ball easily down the court which affected the score. You should be proud of each of your achievements. Acky's award went to Alexis. 15 & Under: A great close game where we had to work hard right to end to get the win and we did it. Everyone did what they needed to do. Kailah and Lailah listened to coming in front, Kaitlyn worked hard moving well in centre and ge ng many turnovers. Tameisha adjusted well to posi onal changes going from goalie to defender, Eb and Demi worked well in the goal circle u lising the ring and our defence team Molly and Holly stopped Kongorong ge ng ahead too far. It was great to see players backing each other up. Fasta Pasta Award went to Molly Cushion who played a rippa of a game, staying strong and making countless intercep ons. 17 & Under: It was a disappoin ng result, but in the end they wanted it much more than we did. We need to convert the things we are doing at training into our game and keep it up for a whole 4 quarters. Tayla and Ella worked hard again in defence crea ng turnovers and figh ng for the rebounds unfortunately we couldn't convert into scoring opportuni es. Madi worked relessly down the court crea ng leads and having a voice. Best players went to Charlo e for listening to everything we had to say and being posi ve no ma er what posi on she was in, when thrown into WD she created
NETball club notes space and had strong leads down the court and Jade for her hands in the mid court. B Reserve: Great game girls, although we were a bit short you didn't let that get you down and came out firing. It was a hard day shoo ng with the wind but you kept your heads up and worked hard to get the win. Best players went to Lucy Jackson who was a great presence in a ack working hard all day as well as Kim Ballintyne who played a great game in defence turning over many balls. Also a big thanks to Ella and Hayley for stepping up from under 17s and helping us out. B Grade: Not the best day for netball but we were able to come away with another great win. Our defence had a tough task against a strong goal circle but kept working hard causing many turnovers that were converted by our goalies. Our passing and movement down the court is looking pre y good, we need to keep this up if we want to turn around a couple of our losses from last round. We have some tough matches coming up so we need to keep working hard as a team to give ourselves the best chance to take home the points. Sassi voucher went to Kris e. A Reserve: Another great game ladies! So nice to see you guys really start to gel and se le in as a team a er so many games! We really needed this win and I think we all knew that, to come out firing and really implement what we have been working so hard towards was really good to see! Larns, I just thought your game was outstanding! Your game has changed over the past few weeks and I know how challenging that has been but you really have nailed every aspect of it so that's a credit to you, well done! Stell and Lauren I thought you two worked relessly down there this week; you guys are always willing and wan ng to change it up, work hard, seek advice when something is working and it's really star ng to all fall into place so keep up the good work! Defensively all over the court was massive last week and it's something we need to keep working at and not backing off on! Certainly coming into the tail end of the season it's nice to see the intensity peek and the wins to start coming our way so let's not back off now! Let's keep up the hard work in prepara on to game day and make sure we keep seeing those wins on the board! Great work ladies! A Grade: Top effort girls! With some gusty winds and some wayward passes we managed to play a hard team game. All the li le things we have been working on at training showed out on court. Our defensive pressure was great to watch and everyone worked hard all game long. This week we need to train hard and keep working on our game plan. Awards went to Casey with the Chelsea Feast award and Kate with the Heaven on a Hanger award. Well done girls!
Junior 2: Fantas c game girls. Everyone tried their best at coming in front and passing to the front player. Metalworx Award went to Abbie Richards for great posi on on the court and intercepts throughout the game in defence. Second best went to Jasmine Haase for coming in front of her player to receive the ball and focusing on her footwork. Junior 1: Another great week girls. Lots of backing up and figh ng for the ball which was great to see. To everyone who played goals AMAZING - see what happens when you have a go! It was good to see all the drives in front especially against a tall Mt Burr side. Again you should be all super proud of yourselves and how you play as a team. Best went to Lacey Hunter (Eddie Kuhl Tyres Award), you read the play really well and your defence is awesome. Second best went to Chloe Childs for great listening, adjus ng and shoo ng! 13 & Under: 12-38. A hard game fought out by all girls, with a few injuries the girls adjusted well. Amelie played a really great game with adjus ng her defence pressure for all 4 quarters and got the Dycer Construc on Award. Second best to Sieanna who moved beau fully in the circle and shot well playing a great game. All girls moved well through the court and rewarded themselves with goals. Bad luck but proud of the improvement each and every week. 15 & Under: 19-50. We finally had all our players back. Great game all together girls. There was great passage of play and flow down the court, leading for the ball and making space. Goalies worked well together with Jasmine and Jena ge ng some good posi oning on the ring and talking and suppor ng the shooters. Great shoo ng from both Montana and Alyssa. Jasmine and Jena providing great drives and op ons all game. Defence worked hard in the ring to deny any second shot at goals but we found it difficult at mes to get it out of the defensive end. Great game girls. Best players - Jena Jagger (Maloney Plumbing Award) and Jasmine Mutch. 17 & Under: 27-46. A good game girls. Some great moving in the goal circle by Lilly, Jorja and Zoe. Raine played really well pu ng lots of pressure on her player and driving well (DeGaris Lawyers Award). Chelsea got her hands to lots of balls and caused many turnovers to earn the South Aussie Award. We need to work on bringing some intensity to our game and keeping that going for four quarters. Let's keep improving throughout the rest of the season.
B Reserve: 42-19. Great effort girls - we really put our last game behind us and proved how well we can really play as a team. Lots of pressure all over the court, great driving all the way down the court with mul ple leads on offer. Best went to Krystal (Key 2 Sale Award) who worked relessly all game for many turnovers. Second best to Nic for a great game in shooter. Thanks again to the ever reliable Zali for benching. Well done girls - super proud. B Grade: 64-19. A great defensive half from all over the court saw us in a great posi on, keeping Mt Burr to only 5 goals. Abbie had some great offensive rebounds and worked well with Kayla to ensure we capitalised on turnovers. Sammi and Amy had another great game in defence with plenty of intercepts. Hayley, Zoe and Chloe also had plenty of touches through the middle. Overall a great win and let’s con nue the momentum leading into this week. Best: Samantha Brierley (Planta on Treated Timber Award) and Hayley Greenfield. A Reserve: 47-37. Well done girls, we got the points in the end but it wasn't our best game. We forgot to use our 45's and fake passes which meant we had to work harder than we needed. Well done Jorja on your first full game for A Res, you played a fantas c game, read the ball well and picked up some mely intercepts. Taitlyn and Max stood tall all game and didn't let Mt Burr’s defence get to you. Tameka had a great game in GK earning her the best player award (B&P Travel & Cruise Award) and Jorja second best. We welcomed back Chloe and we're beyond excited to have you on court with us again. Our first me in a long me with our full team so let’s go out and have some fun. A Grade: 40-34. What an amazing game girls! It was a seesaw of a match but we dominated the second and fourth quarters, keeping them to 5 and 4 goals for those quarters respec vely. Our defence all over the court was awesome, lots of held balls and great defensive pressure by everyone. Emily played an amazing game in GK, Sarah got tons of intercepts and Bec played hard at the ball to get a number of turnovers. Down the other end, Ashlea drove and fed extremely well. Caitlyn played strong under the post and Laura really came into the game once she gained confidence and was carving it up with Caitlyn o en double teamed. We are on the up girls! Well done! Best player (O'Brien Electrical Mt Gambier Award) too hard to select as it was a team effort.

Congratula ons to our defensive duo Emily Timms and Tanisha McNair on best players, you girls were superstars. 17 & Under: Thanks heaps to the girls who filled in for us again last week. We were missing our two defenders from our team which le us with no choice but to mix our team up. It was good to see you girls including the under 15s and really bring them in to the game. To start with this le us a bit unsteady and throwing away the ball but a er a few minutes we se led down and
NETball club notes we are playing some good netball. we were coming in front more to get the ball. We had a few good passages throughout the game. Hold your heads high and come out and improve on the li le things because in me our game will improve more. We all need to talk more on the court and listen at quarter mes and training. Thanks heaps to our team manager/first aider Bec and scorer Ashlee. We do really appreciate the help because many hands make light work for us all. Best players: Skye Muller - Fasta Pasta, Emily Timms - Hungry Jacks. B Reserve: Although the scoreboard did not reflect a win, it felt like a win. You all played well as a team and encouraged each other. There were a few turnovers due to stepping and not mee ng the ball, but if we slow down and play our own game we will benefit. A big thanks to Kerri for coming out of re rement to play, you did a great job and gave the team a li . Best players to Maddy who worked relessly and Kate for direc ng and guiding the team as a great captain. B Grade: Do not be too disappointed a er last week’s game girls, our start was great, a lot of posi ves can be taken from the first 15 minutes. We just fell out of sync and dropped our heads. We will adjust to the new combina ons and a win will come. Best players were Ange for her determina on and aggression towards chasing the ball and Ellie for her give all at WA. A Reserve: What an excellent game from everyone, we all finally gelled as a team, and it all worked in our favour. Was some great driving and feeding from our a ack line. Our passing was much more pa ent, and we waited ll the space was there. Kristy and Meighan combined well in the goals with some great feeding by Hannah, Taysha and Bri . Chrystal, Bri , Shandeen and Bel worked relessly in the defence end get many intercepts and loose balls. So proud of you all for regrouping and coming out and having a blinder. Best player and the award Athletes Foot - Taysha. A Grade: Excellent game girls, we played one of our best all year. With a bit of a slow start in the first, we regrouped and came out firing in the second. Coming back at one stage to get within 2. We were more pa ent and waited for the right opportunity to pass to the goalies. Was great to see us really fight back and keep on going. Defence took some great intercepts all game and drove the ball hard down into the a ack line. A ack worked over me and posi oned and fed each other well. Great game girls, let’s keep it up this week against Kongorong. Best player and the Pines Hotel award - Jemma.
Junior 2: Great effort last week, we were well matched with Tant as no goal was scored in the first quarter. We were brilliant in defence and when we move the ball quickly and precisely we look fantas c. Let's keep prac cing to get in front of our players to make sure we look a er the ball and our teammates. Let's have a great game today! Awards: Adele - Fasta Pasta, Lily - Angelino Family and Isabelle - Telford Family. Junior 1: It was a really even game against Tant but we con nued to play some really good netball. All the girls showed how well they can play both an a ack and defence game. We had a really good shoo ng effort from Jac, Lacy and Havvi, and really good mid court pressure from Abby, Flick and Lily. Awards went to Sophie (The Bellum Hotel) and Paige (Hungry Jacks) 13 & Under: We mixed a few players up and all the girls did really well. Harmoni Kent (Fasta Pasta), played an absolute blinder of a match and as a coach it was the most rewarding thing to see! Gre a Doman (Bellum Hotel) was also a standout and to see everyone smiling at the end of the match was the greatest. I feel our li le group are all improving every week and I believe the group have all grown together. 15 & Under: Great to see the whole team back on the court and to see girls set-up in different posi ons and s ll be quite compe ve. Awards: McKinnon family - Hayley, Bakers Delight - Sophie. 17 & Under: We won! Absolutely brilliant effort from the en re team who all played excellent netball that was consistent for all four quarters of the game. This was by far our best game for the season and it shows how much we have improved and con nue to improve each week. Star ng in goals was Skye and Zara who worked very well together and Milla and Kate star ng in the midcourt, feeding with precision into our shooters. With Skye working the hold, Zara working the front, and pa ent feeding from Milla and Kate we were able to get it past the tall Tant defenders. Our defence consisted of Taylah, Izzy and Marnee who worked relessly to contest every ball and make them earn every possession. Through their defensive efforts
we were able to convert almost every possession earned. Pheobe came on at half me into the shoo ng circle and certainly wasted no me se ling into the game. All the girls should be so proud of their efforts and I can't wait to see what's ahead of us for the rest of the season. Best players: Zara - Bakers Delight, Kate - Boost Juice. B Reserve: Great game girls, so close to a win. You moved and made space through the centre court and I could hear voices on the court too. You all wanted to win and wanted to achieve a be er score. We only lost it from our passing, which we can improve as well. Be proud of yourselves. Awards: Ella Kongorong Football Club tea, Emily - Kongorong Football Club tea. B Grade: What an improvement on the last me we played Tant. Welcome to Jess to the side, and thanks to Taylah for filling in. Fantas c holding by Mahli who finished off strong, great feeding into the circle by Alisha, Scout, and Jess. Our defence worked hard all game, and the pressure from Billie, Taylah, Mik, and Phoebe was strong all day. Thanks for welcoming me as your coach for the rest of the season, I'm looking forward to seeing you improve each week. Birdie Blue - Mahli, and Lima And Co - Billie. A Reserve: Tough game having to fill 2 big posi ons and 3rd and 4th posi on figh ng it out. We started out well working the ball down the court, a couple of lapses in concentra on saw some turnovers at pivotal mes in the game. To our credit we rallied and fought back ge ng our fingers to a few balls and earning the turnovers. The last half of the 3rd quarter was unfortunately our let down, again we lost concentra on and turned the ball over at crucial mes, making it tough to comeback. Thanks to Evie, Scout and Zara for si ng bench for us. Club Meal Voucher - Rachel for an amazing game at C. Athletes Foot - Bri for a tough game against a quality opponent. A Grade: We had a solid game crea ng some great turnovers and improved on our last encounter with Tant. Well played everyone. Thanks to Alicia and Brianna for filling in. NETball club notes Junior 2: The li le girls played a strong, confident game last round, one of the best for the year. They were working as a team, encouraging each other and was lovely to see the older girls offering guidance to the younger players. Violet was speedy in centre, driving to the goal ring and feeding well into the circle. Hazel was dominant in defence, blocking and shadowing her playing consistently. Kirby and Maggie used their dodge and front cut to get in front of their opponent. Kaia was determined in GA, running hard into the circle and using her height to rebound. Paige was dodging well in the goal ring and shoo ng accurately. Ella had a tall opponent, but didn't stop moving and working hard to get possession. The whole team is improving each week, clearing away from the ball and reoffering. Well done! Maggie - Java Award, Ella Ladies commi ee, Violet - Maccas. Junior 1: Going in to this game the girls were given some more complex drills to do at training and they completed them with ease. Working on ge ng their eyes up, tagging as a defender and dodging, rolling and front-cu ng to be in the best posi on to receive the ball. It was exci ng to hear the girls going in to the game coming up with their own court plays ready to come out firing against Nangwarry. For the first half Sienna, Grace, Scarle and Alirah combined well in the a ack line using plenty of voice to get the ball in to the circle and con nued to support each other. In defence there weren't many mes Nangwarry could get the ball past our super defenders in Olivia Beggs, Livvi and Luca. The changes for the second half saw just as much strength, determina on and talk as the first half. Well done each of you, keep up the great work. Thank you again to Hazel for si ng on the bench again for us and hopping on the court to help out. Maccas Awards - Scarle Zalme and Grace Andre. 13 & Under: A hard fought win in a very compe ve game against Nangwarry. A er being 2 goals up at half me the win was set up in the third quarter where we outscored the opposi on 14 goals to 3. Quick and accurate transi on down court was a feature and was finished off with accurate shoo ng. The last quarter was somewhat scrappy with many turnovers. Con nuing to work on ming our leads and strong passing will be a focus at training as well as our full court defensive pressure. It has been pleasing to see players implemen ng the plays we have been prac sing. Well done! Ladies Commi ee Award - Leni for improved passing and following direc ons. Duckys Surf Award Kalli for a consistent 4 quarter effort and accurate shoo ng par cularly in the allimportant 3rd quarter. 15 & Under: Ayrlie and Kyah combined in defence for a new combina on and they both did a fabulous job causing lots of turnovers giving us lots of scoring opportuni es. Our defence pressure all over the court was great and we were chasing up all loose balls, well done. Niah shot with great accuracy and moved very well in the circle. We welcomed both Kalli and Alex to the 15s court who both did a fantas c job well done. Awards: Kyah Chemist, Niah - HLC. 17 & Under: A fantas c start to the second half of the season. Jasmyne ran hard (again) throughout the court, grabbing countless turnovers and feeding well. Demi and Laura applied defensive pressure and effec vely moved the ball down the court straight to our goalies. Both Lacey and Dakota shot very accurately, gaining front posi on and u lising the post op on. It was great to have Rosie back on the court a er a knee injury, working cohesively with Elly to grab any loose balls/rebounds and put strong pressure on the Nangwarry goalies. Niah Faulkner and Tori Haines both slo ed beau fully in our a ack line, becoming great assets to our game. Great effort girls, it's amazing to see such good netball from you all. Best players: Elly Redden (Ladies Commi ee) and Rosie Ne le (Ducky's). B Reserve: We welcomed Georgia Chant to our team, in GD together with Fee in GK
NETball club notes both played a really strong defensive game, Georgia taking numerous intercep ons down the court and both girls rebounding strongly. Karen came back a er being out for 6 weeks with a calf injury in WD and was on fire, applying lots of pressure and crea ng many turnovers. Our mid-court with Sally, Staci and Michelle worked hard and fed the ball into our goalies without always looking for the easy op on and it paid off. Staci transi oned back a er playing weeks in defence effortlessly and dominated. Indi and Dizey once again combined well, Dizey is learning each week to create the space and use her voice. We s ll have a lot of work in the upcoming weeks and we need to all con nue to stay posi ve and unite as a team. Thanks again to Jaz for si ng bench, Kerry for primary carer and Nic for scoring. Somerset Hotel award - Staci Faulkner, Kelsey Wight Fitness award - Karen Bowman, HSRC - Georgia Chant. B Grade: A pleasing game with four good quarters. Maddie and Ellie had their best game yet, combining well to find plenty of space, fought hard and got lots of rebounds from missed shots. Our shoo ng was the best so far for the season. Meg, Lacey and Nat shared between the WA, WD and C posi ons and gave us some good precise passing from the centre third into our goalies. Nat's defensive pressure at C was great as usual, working hard to create opportuni es for us. The same in our defensive end with Jess and Ella working together in the first half and Georgia and Leila in the last half with a tall opponent at GS but that didn't stop us from having a red hot crack and with that we didn't allow easy access into their shoo ng circle and worked hard to send it back down to our goalies. We s ll have a lot to improve on and need to con nue to work hard and strive to get from 4th to 2nd on the ladder. Thank you to Nic for scoring and hope to see you back on the court against Robe. Somerset Hotel award - Ellie Cook and Maddie Butler, Java Café award - Lacey Brown, HSRC award Ella Major. A Reserve: The team was pumped at Nangwarry to have Isabel back and a full team ready to fire! They got off to a cracking start, intercepts coming freely due to the whole court defensive pressure. Paris and Eliza were finding space confidently in the goal circle, and finishing well. The feeding from Liss and Lucy was pa ent and direct, as they fought their way to the best posi on around the ring and drove hard into a ack. Helen and Lucy were out hun ng in the mid court, ready to pounce on anything loose. Marnie played a rippa in GK, ge ng fingers to anything high and domina ng the rebounds. Isabel worked her way into game, consistent and reliable right down the court. Abby received the Since Fi y-Six award for her accurate shoo ng, great movement and for providing a clear target in the ring. Marnie received the Somerset award and Lucy Chant, Kelsey White Fitness. One of our best team efforts, impressive whole court ball movement and pressure! A Grade: A pre y fair effort from the girls in a game where we made quite a few changes. Lara was back to her scin lla ng best and gave us plenty of ball from intercepts and deflec ons. Maddie Pulmer enjoyed the space at GA and enjoyed a consistent 4 quarters. Elly Redden came on at GD for her first A Grade run and the smile on her face said it all as she worked her bu off and gave us plenty of drive. It was great to get Chelsea on the court, Sarah B and her were a force in the defensive circle. Sarah F and Tegan as usual gave us plenty of speed and drive into a ack and set up many goals. The find of the day though was Maddie R to GS at half- me, a whopping 30 goals at 83%. Great work Maddie. Our only blemish was a slight injury to Lace who'd been using her speed to great effect. A top effort but there's s ll things to work on. Somerset Hotel award - Lara MacGregor, Millicent Chemist & Gi ware - Maddie Redman, Kelsey Wight Fitness - Maddie Pulmer. Thanks to Sam once again for scoring
Junior 2: What a fantas c game the girls all had last week, all pu ng in 100% effort un l the final quarter. Some really great work ge ng the ball into the goal circle and sharing the ball around. Also, great to see them working on what we were prac sing at training. Incen ve (canteen voucher) went to Kendall Ross for not giving up against a tough opponent, working hard for the ball and for great sportsmanship. Great work Kendall and the rest of the team. 13 & Under: Robe 16 Nangwarry 19. Best player (Burger & Co): Olivia Birchall, Incen ve (Steve’s Place): Demi Bermingham. 15 & Under: Robe 34 Nangwarry 30. A quick reminder in the first quarter not to underes mate the compe on. Maybe a li le flat footed, but the effort was there for the rest of the game. We learnt that with increasing the work rate we s ll had to find our balance and control our passes which you all worked hard to achieve. Well done - it must have been the doof doof in the warm up. Some supreme efforts on court in Tilly, Georgie and Ella. The best player (Burger & Co) went to miss Emily Dew who I'm liking in defence. My incen ve (The Project) went to Lucy Collins who seems to be finding a partnership in goals, even if she s ll throws them like a basketball, she's ge ng them in because she now takes her me. We also give a shout out to our team manager Stacey Wirth, my right-hand man and supplier of lollies. 17 & Under: Robe 65 Nangwarry 22. Awesome game girls. We took a bit to get going and with some changes saw you li and gain momentum. We are so lucky to have a such a versa le side, having those op ons to change up either end is only going to help on the way to finals. Lexy played a consistent game, with us changing who she was playing with most quarters, and didn't let it affect her game, was great to see her combine and chat well with whoever she was with. Maisie and Ella, two key players who proved they can play well at either posi on throughout the game, both of you have such a controlled game which really helps the rest of your team. Sienna played an outstanding game at both WA and GA, the more confidence you gain back at GA is only going to see you excel at that posi on in weeks to come. Maddie once again stood strong and led the a ack line to the win. Billie, Adele, Amalie and Hayley all played consistent netball ge ng so many hands to balls and feeding their teammates well. You should all be extremely proud of yourselves, you are an absolute pleasure to coach and we look forward to doing it all again this week for a tough 4 quarters. Best player (Steve's Place) went to Ella Mackey and Incen ve (Mahalia Coffee) to Sienna Brooks. B Reserve: Robe 34 Nangwarry 23. This game meant a lot to the Brezzers. This team, whilst not on the upside of the ladder, s ll froth over mateship
and teammanship, courage and determina on, and giving credit when its due. I have to admire that as a coach. So, we headed into the game with Ruby the goalie as Al had decided Broome was a be er op on last week. Ruby's consistency enabled us to remain and feel compe ve in the a ack zone and work slicker as a team. Anne, Lonny, Rhi and Kiri each had a quarter off which meant a bit of adjus ng at the break. A fine team game. It was the Ruby game earning her Calcu a (Hairport), but it was also nice to see Anne rip out 3 respectable quarters to get the incen ve (Mahalia Coffee). Thanks again to Ella who came on for one so Kiri could cough up a lung - glad you could play with us chick. It felt bloody good to get a win. B Grade: Robe 47 Nangwarry 27. It was great to have a win girls, we had a few girls that were feeling a li le bit under the weather but everyone made sure they gave their all and we got the job done. Our mid court defensive pressure was amazing which resulted in a few turnovers. Our defenders worked hard against some very accurate goalies, and our goalies held up their end as well - so it was an all-round great team effort. Calcu a (The Project) went to Marley in goals and incen ve (Salubrious Hour) went to Mahalia in defence. A Reserve: Robe 39 Nangwarry 55. The first quarter started strongly for both teams. The goalies were accurate and shot well. It was good to see our defensive pressure all the way down the court, crea ng some turnovers throughout the game. We made a change to the defence line up to try to subdue the accurate shoo ng from Nangwarry. This helped open up the ring and provided drive out of defence. Luck never seems to go our way, but we always play out the game trying right un l the end. Thanks to Emma and Maddie for si ng the bench and Tori for helping out. Thanks also to all the awesome people that came out to do du es in the real wintery weather. Calcu a (Lush Flowers) went to Isabelle Sneath and Incen ve (Burger & Co) went to Car a Borrelli. A Grade: Robe 54 Nangwarry 40. From our previous round to last week, it feels like a completely different team. Last round we played with such force and a great team game, but last week it felt like there was a disconnec on. Even though we s ll had some great passages of play and awesome defence from Allanah, crea ng mul ple turnovers throughout the game. We just couldn't capitalise on them enough for her. Maisie played her first full game of A Grade, was great to see her improve as the game went on, using her body and learning along the way. Belle coming on at half me gave us the much needed li we were struggling to find. We were lucky to take this win! Calcu a (Steve's Place) went to Alannah who put in a solid game at GD and incen ve (Coastal Club) went to Sarah for being strong at GS and never dropping her head.
ROUND 11 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW GLENCOE v MOUNT BURR This was always going to be a close game and the girls didn't disappoint with the lead changing mul ple mes during the game. During the first saw Mt Burr capitalise on most opportuni es with Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty only missing three shots between them for the quarter. Down the other end for Glencoe, Caitlin Hentschke and Laura Edwards took a li le longer to se le in with Mt Burr in the lead at the first break 12 to 10. The second quarter saw Glencoe step up the defensive pressure thanks to some great defensive work from Emily Thompson, Sarah Edwards and Bec Edwards. This, combined with pa ence and good feeding from Ashlea Edwards and Donna Edwards gave the Glencoe goalies plenty of opportuni es to score. Glencoe were able to hold Mt Burr to only 5 for the quarter while they scored 11 themselves. At half me Glencoe were up by 4. The third saw the game swing again with Mt Burr making some changes bringing Heidi Eldridge into centre and Laura Schultz changing in to WA. Mt Burr’s Heidi Clark and Madi Hagge combined well to get a few turnovers in Glencoe’s goal circle and some impa ent passing from Glencoe saw Mt Burr capitalise. Glencoe’s Emily Thompson con nued to be a headache for Mt Burr goalies but they pushed through and were able to convert much be er than the previous quarter. At three quarter me Mt Burr had a 3 goal lead. The last saw the unchanged Murphies line up not give an inch with Glencoe’s defensive pressure all over the court causing many turnovers. Mt Burr struggled on many occasions to get the ball past the centre third and Glencoe capitalised on these opportuni es scoring 13 for the quarter while Thompson again got her hand to a lot of balls with Mt Burr only scoring 4. Mt Burr were unable to regain their composure and Glencoe came away with the win by 6 goals. Best players for Glencoe were Emily Thompson and Bec Edwards, and for Mt Burr, Heidi Clark and Madi Hagge . ROBE v NANGWARRY Robe started strong in the first quarter gaining the upper hand early, with Nangwarry taking a bit more me to find their feet.
Timely intercepts from Robe's GD Alannah Campbell resulted in Robe taking the lead by 9 at the first break. Second quarter saw Nangwarry come out firing, and Robe being too complacent. GD Hayley Burner and WD Jemma Parsons worked solidly for the Saints crea ng numerous turnovers, rebounding extremely well and bringing the ball down for GS Cassie Dinnison to convert with accuracy shoo ng 11 of their 13 goals for the quarter. Robe made silly errors, bad passing decisions and a few missed goals, which Burner took control of and helped peg back the lead, with Nangwarry going in to the half me break only down by 4. Robe made changes at half me bringing Isabelle Sneath into GK and moving junior Maisie Hayes to WD. This change proved to give Robe the li they desperately needed, with the defence taking charge and Campbell turning over mul ple balls and combing well with Sneath. Robe s ll couldn't capitalise on the turnovers with Nangwarry's Burner and Parsons working hard and making it hard for Robe's a ack to even get the ball into the ring, once again errors in passing was the difference with Robe only being able to gain another 6 goals for their lead. In the last quarter Robe managed to se le and gain a bit of momentum and slowly added to their lead. Nangwarry never gave up and made Robe work hard for every goal, with the quarter finishing 13 to 9. Robe took the win by 14 but that wasn't without a con nued fight from Nanagwarry all over the court. Best players for Robe were Alannah Campbell and Sarah Laurie. Best players for Nangwarry were Jenna Parsons and Cassie Dinnison. KALANGADOO v PORT MACDONNELL In wet condi ons, Kalangadoo started the match strong with the defensive combina on of Chelsea Croser and Mikaila Pi causing some early turnovers, to help Kalangadoo score the first four unanswered goals. Both teams remained unchanged during the second quarter with Michelle Moore running hard for Port MacDonnell, feeding her goalies Kirby Carrison and Brooke Williams accurately. Jess Trench and Kalangadoo's Jane Auld had a ght contest with Auld making Trench earn every possession. Melissa Russell made the most of scoring opportuni es,
accurately scoring 12 goals for the quarter to help Kalangadoo to go into the main break with a 21 goal lead. During the third quarter Port MacDonnell's Amy Morgan and Lisa McGregor stepped up their intensity, forcing errors from Kalangadoo's a ack. In the final quarter Kalangadoo stepped up their defence which forced some wayward passing by Port MacDonnell, making it hard for the Port MacDonnell goalies to get many opportuni es, scoring just seven goals for the quarter. Kalangadoo finished the game strong defea ng Port MacDonnell 66 goals to 33. Best players for Port MacDonnell were Michelle Moore and Brooke Williams, and Kalangadoo’s were Melissa Russell and Mikaila Pi . KONGORONG v TANTANOOLA Both teams started strong crea ng many turnovers, Tantanoola capitalised on every opportunity with Tant GS Emma Gould having her best quarter scoring 18 goals for the quarter. Tant took the lead at the first break 19 to 7. Both teams remained unchanged in the second quarter. Tantanoola's WA Casey Walker dominated the mid court and had pinpoint accuracy on her feeds into the goal circle. Kongorong struggled to get the ball through the midcourt while Tantanoola increased their lead 42 to 13 at the half me break. Both teams made changes with Tantanoola bringing junior Ebony Cytrowski on at WD and Alex Lucas into the circle with Kate Bromley. Kongorong brought Bri Fuller on at GA and Alicia Trahar into defence. Kongorong li ed their work rate and managed to create more scoring opportuni es. Tantanoola increased their lead by 6 to take the score to Tant 58 to Kong 23. The final term saw Kongorong's Sam Fox return to the court at centre with both teams having some great passages of play and finishing the game strong. Tantanoola took the win 78 to 33. Best players for Kongorong were Riley Buckingham and Ella McIntyre, with Tantanoola’s best being Casey Walker and Kate Bromley.
