ben curran glencoe football club
Glencoe Football Club congratulates Ben Curran on reaching 150 senior games for the Murphies today against Robe. Cuz has been a regular in the B Grade since making his debut for the club in 2012, playing mainly up forward with the occasional run in the midfield. He has always been one of the most consistent forwards in the Reserves compe on and his strong hands, long kick and athle cism make him a tough matchup for most opposi on defenders. Cuz has won all but the 2019 club B Grade leading goal kicker awards since 2013 and is in the running to do it again this season. Congratula ons Cuz on reaching this major milestone of 150 games, a fantas c effort and we all wish him the very best for today.

ROBE GLENCOE
A Grade: The day was set for a huge match with Hatherleigh si ng 2nd and us si ng at 5th. We made the short trip down to Hatherleigh to take on our closest rivals. Right from the outset it was a physical match with both sides smashing into the contest. With a few talls missing from the Robe side we were up against it. The boys hustled hard in the first quarter and were s ll in the game at quarter me. Hatherleigh went into the quarter me break 25 points up. From the start of the 2nd quarter Hatherleigh came out to play and took control of the game. Sam Telfer for Hatherleigh had a day out, kicking 21 goals from full forward. Hatherleigh were able to clear the ball from the midfield and when they went forward, they were damaging. Robe con nued to ba le with our midfielders, Kaden Woodward and Jack standing out. Kaden Woodward in some great form kicked 5 goals for the day and Jack Kelly slo ed 2. We played well in patches moving the ball quickly using overlap handballs and taking the game on. Mark Marriot for Hatherleigh rucked most of the day and took some solid marks around the ground. Hatherleigh were too strong and ran away with a 126point victory. At no point did the boys throw the towel in and tried their heart out un l the final siren. This week we put the loss behind us and take on Glencoe back on our home deck. We look to get back to playing our brand of footy and get ourselves back on the winners list. Reserves: Last week we took on Hatherleigh at their ground. In the first quarter they came out strong and on top with 8 goals to our none which really put us on the back foot for the game. But to the boys’ credit they didn't give up and played good footy for 3 quarters. We were severely undermanned but Hatherleigh were too classy on the day. Best players went to Kane Cross, Simon Ferguson, Tristan Chincarini, Jimmy Murch, Elroy Samuels and James Kokiousis. Senior Colts: This was definitely game of the round in the Senior
2nd qtr
3rd qtr
Colts and we were looking so forward to this contest of 1 v 2. A er Hatherleigh kicked two quick goals to start the game, the boys switched on and kicked the next three before quarter me. We con nuously worked hard and started pulling away each quarter, keeping Hatherleigh scoreless in the third, which put us in a good posi on to be up by 45 points at 3 quarter me. The boys played relessly un l the final siren went, coming out ten goal winners. Best players were Raj Legoe, Hudson Peel, Codee Weston, Mason Keane and Jimmy Murch. Major goal kickers: Codee Weston 7, Hudson Peel 3, Kaiden Carter 2. Denton’s Sportspower Player Incen ve went to Mason Mckenny and Steve’s Place Player Incen ve to Flynn Peel. Junior Colts: We went down to Hatherleigh last week hoping to keep our finals hopes alive in a near must win match. I was unsure what effort I was going to get a er a ra y and unproduc ve training during the week. I put the challenge down to the boys and they were up for it. As soon as the game started I knew that we were focused and ready for the fight. Although not kicking a score in the first quarter we were s ll in the game a er Hatherleigh struggled to find the big s cks also. We were lucky enough to have Connor back from school in Adelaide which gave a backline a lot more structure. Riley was also good in the backline repelling numerous a acks. Heading into the last quarter we were down by 2 goals but the boys never lost hope. Grinding our way back into the game. It came down to the last kick of the day. 6 points down, John Hichcliffe marked about 25 meters out on a slight angle just prior to the siren going. As he was running in the siren blew and the ball went sailing straight through the middle. Never in doubt… The draw keeps our finals hopes alive and we look forward to another tough game against Glencoe this week. Cheers Jack

Last week we hosted Nangwarry and came away with 4 wins from the football field. We also came away with 7 from 7 wins on the netball court, making it a perfect day for the Murphies. This might be the first me this has happened for a few years at least. Junior Colts: The Junior Colts got the day rolling with another very strong win against a good Nangwarry side. We are playing some good football and are priming ourselves ready for finals ac on. The Juniors are ge ng amazing numbers on the training track, which is pu ng the seniors to shame some mes. A 68 to 26 win was a great way to start the day. Best players were Riley Ferguson, Lachlan Brierley, Tighe Hurley, Kallan Price, Tyrone Siebert and Tyler Fiegert. Senior Colts: The Senior Colts showed their con nued improvement and marched their way onto a 19-point win. It was a good contest for most of the game, as both sides have struggled with numbers this year. Credit to our juniors who have stepped up and played tremendous footy in a higher grade. Pie has worked well with these kids and has got the most out of them. Best players were Aiden Hurley, Cameron Mirale, Kaleb Price, Marcus McGrath, Kallan Price and Kieron Rigney.
field. Coupled with the return of some important injured players we have a real chance to go deep into the finals if we con nue to play well. Last week we managed to outclass Nangwarry by 66 points, turning around the 49-point deficit from Round 3. Best players were Lachlan Hoch, Darcy Williamson, Adam Pulford, Tory Weaver and Trent Hawke. A Grade: The A Grade got off to a shocking start kicking 1 goal 10 in the first quarter, despite having all the play we only went into quarter me with a one goal lead. A er that we started to hit our straps and played clean footy and hit the scoreboard extending the lead. A er a ba le with Nangwarry and a close game in Round 3, it was pleasing that we have shown great improvement and we came away with a pleasing 18.28 (136) to 2.5 (17) win. I think coach Tom needs to dedicate at least 1 night a week to exclusively goal kicking this week, as we have kicked a combined 24.46 over the past 2 games. Best players were Dylan Pfitzner (4 goals), Zacc Cocks, Tom Edwards, Dylan Childs, Patrick Mitchell and Jack Edmonds. This week we have the long trip to Robe in some tough games for all grades. These will be some tough tests to see where we are at and how much improvements we have made.
Reserves: The Reserves con nued their charge towards September as we have won 4 of our past 5 games to sit 6 wins, 5 losses for the year. With a big match coming up this weekend against equal third side Robe, let's hope Parrot has a full squad of players to pick from and con nue this hot streak. With an improved presence on the training track, we have seen an improved performance on the
This week we also celebrate 3 milestones on the football field. Marcus McGrath plays his 100th Senior game, Ben Curran plays his 150th Senior Game and Dylan Childs plays his 150th A Grade game. All these blokes have been successful and very talented players for the club over their careers and we wish them the best of the luck today and for the rest of their careers.

Spiderman SE Eco Pest Management provides safe, effec ve, environmentally friendly pest control, termite and mber pest inspec on services to both residen al and commercial proper es in the south east of South Australia and south west of Victoria. Remember to support those who support us. Under 11: With a few away and depleted numbers we mustered up 5 lads keen for a kick. Thanks to Glencoe for lending us a few players to make a game of it. Each week we go well and this was no excep on. In a close game they can all really hold their heads high about how they play the game. Well done kids and keep ge ng out there! Junior Colts: We came into last week's game against Glencoe with very low numbers so firstly thanks Adam and Glencoe for the lend of 5 players every quarter. We started off very slow and Glencoe really showed why they are one of the top teams in the grade. In the 2nd half our team showed some real fight, ge ng numbers at the contest and laying some really good tackles and won the 2nd half scoreboard but the damage had been done early. Best players were Calais, Josh, Benne , Tayte, Harvey and Jimmy. Thanks again to the volunteers that goal umpire, boundary umpire and me keep. Every week it takes people to put their hand up and volunteer their me so our young kids can play so it's greatly

appreciated. Senior Colts: A er plenty of posi ves from the previous week against Hatherleigh, I hoped that we could back it up against Glencoe. Unfortunately we had a couple of players pull out which certainly didn't help. But credit must be given to our players at half me we were in front and should have been in front by a few goals instead of a few points such was our dominance. Unfortunately the 3rd quarter and start of the last saw us go from leading to be nearly 8 goals behind. In a great show of character we managed to kick the last 4 goals to end up 21 points behind at the final siren. It was our closest match and highest score of the season so plenty of posi ves, hopefully we can con nue this for the remainder of a season and manage to claim a win or two. B Grade: We came up against a vastly different Glencoe from the first round and were soundly beaten, Glencoe 13-14 (92) to Nangwarry 4-2 (26). We started well and had the first goal for the game and were looking good un l Glencoe stepped up the pressure on the ball carrier. The first quarter was an even affair but Glencoe lead 3-4 to 1-1. Nangwarry had some very good passages of play coming from defence, which broke down across our forward line. As a team we need to talk a bit more and be prepared to do your role for the team. Our best players were some the usual suspects who worked hard all day, Sco Brooksby, Mick Chaplin, Hayden Sanders, Nick Rowe, Josh Clayfield, Jayden Moore and Jarrad Neshoda. Goal scorers were Josh Clayfield 3 goals and Jordan Hagge 1 goal. Let's work as a team, talk and back yourself to turn the table on Kongorong today. Go Nangas. A Grade: Our boys had a disappoin ng day on the park, Glencoe beat us all over the ground and we were never in the game from quarter me. Losing 6 guys from last week's team didn't help our prepara on for this game, we move on to Kongorong at home hoping to bounce back into some form.

NANGWARRY KONGORONG
A great day had last week with the Sponsors Day bringing in a larger crowd. Thank you to all those that a ended and thank you again for your ongoing support. Shuffle Night was won by Milla Buckingham, and a fun night had by all. This week we head back to the club for the Dinner Auc on, heaps of items up for grabs, so round up some friends and get along to support the club. Last week's games as seen by the coaches: Under 11: The skills and determina on of the Under 11's con nues to improve each game. We played an internal scratch match which the kids enjoyed playing against each other. The involvement of the younger players in the game was fantas c to watch. Awards: Intersport - Jack Maidment, Graham & Ange Award - Nash Brant, Angelino Family Award - Mac Brant, Coaches Award - Nathaniel Elletson, Club Award - Iziah Hunt and Donut King - Toby Telford. Junior Colts: A er what has felt like an eternity, it was so good to be back playing footy on our home ground, as we welcomed a very tough but undermanned Mt Burr side. As we are ge ng close to having our full side back playing which has been a rarity this year. The group is really star ng to gel and con nues to play a quality brand of footy. Once again full credit to the eight players in Noah, Jacko, Blake, Cur s, Axel, Jacob, Zayne and Logan for spending half a game across for the Burr, to make sure we had a game. I understand they want to be in Hawks colours, but without playing across, we don't get games. From the outset the boys took the game on with the midfield ba le one to watch throughout the four quarters, supplying quality deliveries to our forwards who were a acking and prepared to lock the ball in. The scoreboard throughout the day didn't do the game jus ce as was a tough and bruising encounter for both sides with neither wan ng to give in. Once again, our backline remained strong, resolute, and very much unheralded week-in week-out in only le ng 1 goal and 2 behinds through for the day. This allows the forwards and mids to do what they do around the ground. With only five games of the minor rounds to go and what should be our full side coming through over the next couple of weeks, we should expect to see some exci ng footy played by the young Hawks. Best players and awards went to Nate Von Stanke-Dowie Rarcoola Structural Award, Jobe
Janeway - Rocks Shop Award, Declan Richardson - Spot-On Fishing Award, Ryan Lucas - Mick Mullan Award, Lilly Gordon - Coaches Award, Harrison Elletson - Janeway Plumbing Award. Another solid week on the track this week, as we head to take on the young Saints on their home ground. Senior Colts: Another convincing win for the boys, however some straighter kicking could've seen the margin a lot bigger. Tommy Bellinger backed up last week's performance and played a great game to be rewarded with the Ma hews Petroleum Award. Mackye Baron (MT Wheels Award) and Cohen Jameway (Swallow Drive Meats Award) played strong games in their respec ve posi ons, along with James Allen with the Mick Mullan Award. Toby McKinnon con nues to grow, week-in week-out, to receive the Coaches Award and Campbell Graney, a er another solid performance was given the Badenoch's Deli Award! Reserves: A er a very slow start, it was looking like we were in a fair bit of trouble against a young and hungry Burr side. The ground was slippery and it looked more like we were performing Disney on Ice, than playing a game of footy. Everything changed though once Dan Hann was thrown forward. It was like watching everyone else playing one game and Danger playing a completely different one. Six straight goals and having a hand in two others meant he was directly involved in eight of our nine goals, Dan was best and took home the Commercial Hotel Award. Declan Robinson worked relessly against a bigger opponent and con nued his great form to take home the Collins Court Butchers Award. Wayne A will controlled the backlines and got the Club Tea Award. Riley Maconachie found heaps of it for the Pick Ave Bakery & Deli prize and Lachie Pulford never stopped working hard and took the other Club Tea Award. Another big game against Nangwarry this week. A Grade: Certainly not the result we were looking for, let's regroup this week, put the work in on the track and turn the results around. Aaron Lightbody con nues to shine in the changes to posi on, taking the Bellum Hotel Award. Will Vickery is playing his best footy yet, to get the Collins Court Butcher Award with high flying Jacka Ryan in third best and the Commercial Hotel Award. Corben O'Dea has bounced back a er his hand injury (Club Tea Award) and Mick Waters in fi h best, Club Tea Award also. Harry Evans rounded out the best players.

B Grade: A er an almost week against Kongorong, the chase for that elusive first win for the year con nued in the block of home games against the second place Kalangadoo. With the mandatory mid week recruitment and a 3 quarter me grab out of the Senior Colts the team was set for the week. It was a really tough game and we were unfortunately outclassed by a much be er opponent. The boys tried their hardest to hang on but unfortunately Kalangadoo were far too strong. Keep your chins up boys as the win will come if you s ck together and keep working hard. Best for the week: Hayden Tickle, Daniel Fisher, Jacob Simmonds, Rory Na rass, Luke Blacksell, Conway Johnson. A Grade: Another week and another challenge, this me against the second placed Kalangadoo. A er holding off a strong finishing Kongorong
in the previous game this matchup was going to be another huge test. Unfortunately as hard as it is to say, there wasn't much of a challenge. Kalangadoo were far too strong across the whole 4 quarters and took out a commanding win. It wasn’t our day, well done to the boys for turning up and giving it their all. Best for the week: Ethan Gladman, Brandon Newton, Liam Bo omley, Tim Sullivan, Blake Lynch, Kyall McClean. I would like to take this chance on behalf of the Port MacDonnell Football Club to offer our sincere condolences to Steve, Marie and Je Lewis and their extended family and friends on the passing of Dylan. Dylan was a valued and respected member of our football club and his loss has been felt right through the football club and the wider community.

Junior Colts: Last week we travelled to Kongorong for a big challenge. Unfortunately I had work so was unable to make it but thank you to everyone who stepped in and helped the kids out. Couldn’t have happened without you guys. Also to Kongorong for lending some players so we could have a game and get all the kids a run. Also Ethan Hales from Tant who filled in for us. From all accounts you boys played a great game and your effort was there again as it has been all year. You boys con nue to do us proud with the effort you put in with the numbers we have. Also to Tim Li le and the Senior Colts for taking trainings with the kids when I couldn’t be there, I know the kids enjoy training with you and they get a lot out of it. Best players for us were Charlie Bevan, Rylan McKay, Jayden Garner, Deklan Brant, Heath Johnston and Finn Woolston. We look forward to coming up against Port Mac down there in another strong challenge. Cheers Tom Senior Colts: Last week we had a hard game against a talented Kongorong who showed us we s ll have a bit of hard work ahead of us. Best players were Bradlee Lawson, Trey Norton Li le, Cohen Montuori, Brady Sharp and Dallas Montuori. Big game today to get back on track. B Grade: A er a poor performance last week, the team brought a completely different a tude to Kongorong on Saturday. From the first bounce it was evident that we came to play and for the first me in a long while we sustained that throughout the four quarters. In the end, the Kongorong team took the most 2nd qtr

of their opportuni es and we didn’t. That proved the difference in the two sides. Best players were Je Bowering (2 goals) at half forward, Harvey Muhovics who played his best ever game, Zac Gray who led from the front, Jack Francis who con nues to lead our defence and Jack Hateley (2 goals) who gave us a target to kick at. It was a big step forward for our side and hopefully it will help us con nue to be compe ve against quality sides for the remainder of the season. A Grade: What a night Flight Night was! Big thanks to all involved. A lot of fun and laughs had by all! Was great to see 3 of our younger brigade back up their best players of the day with some solid performances that night. Tay burrowed in all day at Kongorong and then transformed himself to somewhat of a beauty and entertained the crowd with a lively performance. Jacko and Wil backed up a solid day with some very very strong performances as our wonderful air hostesses. Maybe too well. Big Smithy had a great day in front of the s cks and then kept the good mes rolling all night with some marvellous wardrobe changes, along with Ed they showed some great ac ng range. Great job again to all involved, looking forward to another night like this one some me soon! And was very pleasing on football terms for the boys to string along some strong quarters of football. We moved the ball well and kept running all day which was a big ck for us. Another important W for us, onto Pt Mac this week for another big test! Go Burr. 4th qtr

TANTANOOLA HATHERLEIGH
Christmas in July/Quiz Night is happening July 23rd. Contact Emma Gould or Jami Walker to book your tables. The Netball Club would also like to congratulate Emie Mason and Tamika Long on making the Mid South East netball team who played in Adelaide a er our last game. We are sure you did your family and our club proud. Under 11: A nice morning greeted us at Robe. A couple of showers during the game so ened the ground and allowed the kids to get themselves a bit muddy which they all enjoyed. All the kids are playing great team footy working to help each other and get each other involved in the games. As a young team can't wait to keep seeing the improvement over the rest of the season and into next year. Awards went to Caleb Hoffman, Xavier Yates, Kaiden Shawyer who also played a great junior colts game and Billy Brown. I also love how all these U11 are asking to do jobs for all grades through the day and the seniors commen ng about how good they are and cha ng to them a er games. Future of the club. Junior Colts: Last game we came up against a strong Robe side and they should be proud of their kids and coach for lending us some quality players evening the game up which made it a lot more enjoyable for all the kids on both sides. Our boys wore blue arm bands for mental health and black arm bands to honour Dylan Lewis, a close family friend of the Bells, who has been taken way to soon. We all had a chat before the game about being kind and always being there for one and another. Smiles on kids faces is way more important than winning a game of football. From everyone at the Tant footy club, our thoughts are with Dylan's family and friends. Best players where Jake, Kaden, Hunts, Ethan and Evan. Senior Colts: The drive to Robe is always lovely this me of year and this occasion was no excep on. A few lads out again le those remaining with an uphill ba le and

ba le they did. Coaching these lads is a very pleasing and rewarding experience, I'm very proud of each and every one of them. Thanks to Sammy Huebner and the Robe lads for doing what's best for footy and we all had a great compe ve game. Our be er players for the game were Rhino, Rowey, Cade, Foldsy and Kaden with a lot of other solid contributors. Well done lads keep ba ling. Reserves: The reserves came out firing last game against Robe and we came away with the win. No passengers all game with everybody giving everything. From pressure around the ball to moving it forward, could not be faulted. Best on ground went to Coop Hamilton who had it on a string all day and fantas c defence work. Other best players were Chris McCallum, Blake Bowman, Tyson McGrath, Brad Williams and Nathan Chapple. A Grade: G'day everyone. Last game we took the lovely drive down to Robe to take on the Roosters. With a couple of injuries throughout the side last week opened up the opportunity for young Sam Simmons to make his debut and get a taste for senior footy. With a slight breeze and a li le bit of wet weather the skill level throughout the game stayed pre y well skilled and clean. With a couple of missed opportuni es in front of goal and Robe taking advantage of opportuni es they jumped out to an early lead. But with endeavour and hunger it was good to see the boys weren't gonna go down without a fight. While holding strong throughout the game Robe secured their win with a couple of late goals to seal it. Plenty of posi ves moving into the bye and spirits are high which is the right direc on. Best in no order were Jordan Ha , Troy Ha , Corey Barre , Darcy Pink and Ma Sorella. www.tantanoolafootballclub. spor ngpulse.net Find us on Facebook: Tantanoola Football and Netball Club

A Grade: Last weekend we took on Robe on our home deck keen to put together a good 4 quarter effort. We started well hi ng the contest hard and using our runners to go into half me with an 8 goal lead. A er half me we stepped it up even more with good physicality and teamwork we managed to run away with a very good 21 goal win. Congratula ons to Sam Telfer who was named first best and put together an incredible performance kicking 21 goals. Mikey Telford was prolific in the middle pu ng his body on the line and winning the ball out for us. Mark Marrio was everywhere around the ground taking big pack marks and also doing a lot of ground level work, while wingman Jack Skeer and Louis Brown found plenty of the ball and used it well going into our forward half. This week we take on Tantanoola on their home ground. Go Eagles!
up, got the boys fired up hi ng the ground running kicking 8 goals in the first. We probably went to sleep a bit a er the first but s ll managed a good 78 point win over the Roosters. Rural kicked a bag of 9 himself to take out BOG. Ti a Telfer took out second best a er playing a good game in the guts. The skipper keeps his tremendous form and took out third best. Bre Wa o had another solid game on ball to take out fourth and young hard nut Bowie rounded out the best. Hopefully we can get a few boys back this week as we take on Tant.
B Grade: With a fair few blokes out of the regular side we took in a different looking team with Rural bringing out his inner wolf of Wall Street humm for the pregame warm
Junior Colts: A draw! With a kick a er the siren by Robe to draw the match it was a tough result for our team a er leading the whole match un l the last kick of the game. An area in our game at the moment that let us down on the day was kicking 2.7. We didn't make the most of our opportuni es in front of the big s cks but it's something we are working on. Other areas of the game we played really well was our tackling, voice around the footy and skills through the field were great.

A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW - ROUND 13 ROBE v GLENCOE Robe host Glencoe in what is set to be the Match of the Round with both teams coming off wins last weekend. The match ups across the court will be great, with Donna Jaeschke and Annie Hunter ba ling in the centre and down the court, crea ng turnovers for their respec ve teams. Glencoe's Jenna Paproth and Malinda Markiewicz are a formidable goalie combina on, and their accuracy won't leave many rebounds for Robe's Ellen Ramke and Emma Grant. Down the other end of the court Robe's new goalie combina on of Halle Carter and Sarah Laurie is one to watch, as they combine well, and both shoot with accuracy. Sarah Edwards and Chantelle Cocks for Glencoe will work relessly to limit the poten al for Robe's shooters to score and will fight for every rebound. A er a tough ba le, the outcome of this game could go either way.
NANGWARRY v KONGORONG A er a close match up in round 4, Nangwarry and Kongorong will both be looking to come away with the points this weekend. Nangwarry's Shannon Higgins and Carly Ploenges will put the pressure on for Kongorong's goalies Tilah Buckingham and Evie Sealey. The strength of Ebony Lawson in the centre for the Saints will force turnovers for in the midcourt, crea ng opportuni es for Tahlia Wilson and Ange Pra to score. Kongorong's Kate Wright and Rach Perry deliver the ball strongly into their goalies, feeding with accuracy from outside the circle. Riley Buckingham's pressure in and around the goal will create difficul es for Nangwarry's midcourt. In a ght contest either team has the ability and poten al to finish the game with the points.
PORT MACDONNELL v MOUNT BURR The Mozzies head down the Bay this weekend, where they will be hoping to get another win under their belts, however the Demons won't go down without a fight. Despite their young age, Madi Hagge and Olivia Dean are one of the most dominant defensive combina ons in the league this season, with both working hard to create turnovers and secure rebounds. Port Mac's Belinda O'Dine and Alana Winter will have to work hard to curb the influence of Ebony Clark in the goal circle, whilst limi ng Zoe Brown's op ons at goal. Kirby Carrison and Brooke Williams combine well in the goal circle for the Demons but will have to fight for every opportunity against Mount Burr's defence. A er another tough ba le, Mount Burr will finish the day with the win.
TANTANOOLA v HATHERLEIGH Hatherleigh head to Tantanoola with something to prove on Saturday a er their Round 4 loss against the Tigers. Tantanoola's Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe are a tough defensive combina on, and Hatherleigh's Abby Wight and Maddie Pulmer will have to score from every opportunity, figh ng for rebounds and loose balls. Hatherleigh's Demi Vanderhorst and Lara MacGregor's pressure in the defensive circle will mean that Tant's Casey Walker and Madi Kelly will have to work hard to feed their goalies accurately. Emma Gould and Jami Walker's accurate shoo ng is a focal point for the Tigers and will mean that Vanderhorst and MacGregor will have to do their best to limit scoring opportuni es. A er another tough game, the Tigers will come away with the points.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Second half of the season in full swing and the girls went out firing. So much improvement from the first me we played against Hatherleigh in Round 3. They had some great passages of play down the whole court. Ge ng in front and re-offering when it didn't work the first me. Thank you to the Junior 1's who took the court when we had a couple of mishaps. A special men on to Edie who put her hand up willingly to help the Hatherleigh team out as they were le short. You showed amazing sportsmanship for the en re game, working relessly for their team. Incen ve went to Mali for giving it her all and showing so much improvement 13 & Under: Robe 32 Hatherleigh 49. The girls played a great team game on the weekend! Unfortunately, we lost however the play began to look smooth, with clear drives to the ball, which is what we have been working on at trainings. We are really impressed at the effort the girls are pu ng in each Saturday! We will con nue to work on our netball fitness at trainings so we can run out the whole game with skill. Great effort by all players. Best player (Robe Seafood & Takeaway) went to Milla Roach with incen ve (Union Café) going to Tess Gibbons. 15 & Under: Robe 28 Hatherleigh 35. We all went in posi ve to the game and I was so proud of you all for playing your role, playing wherever I put you. Kiana had a solid game in goals, moving well and shoo ng with accuracy. Georgie played consistent wherever put, in goals and C in the last. Ella and Demi combined well, passing nicely into the ring. Demi, determined to play injured, we love your guts Dem but get that wrist be er! Jenna played solid popping into wherever needed without hesita on. Tilley, Emily and Stella all played a ripper in defence, crea ng turnovers and strong rebounds. Emily played one of the best quarters I've seen her play at WD, a true defender in the making. Lucy in at goals sinking goals straight away and leading strongly out of the circle. Although everyone played well, we s ll couldn't quite get the decision-making right, working on our passes is what will help us win games. Best player (Loaves & Fishes) went to Georgie and incen ve (Salubrious Smoothies) Tilley. 17 & Under: Robe 34 Hatherleigh 38. Not our day ladies. Let's take this as our wake up call and we will break it down at trainings this week. We had the play and the opportuni es - we just need that focus, fitness, pa ence and confidence in each other back. We WILL be be er. We will go back to basics this week and rebuild. Maisie ran solid throughout the C, with consistent passes all game gaining best player (Loaves & Fishes). Ella adjusted her game in GA and took onboard advice ge ng the incen ve (The Pastry Place). There
NETball club notes was s ll lots of great play. First quarter was definitely our best, when we were steady and backed each other. We need to learn to maintain our score lead, we love the thrill of the chase. We've got a hard slog to finals, but we love a fight and can definitely do it! B Reserve: Robe 16 Hatherleigh 61. With only 7 players plus one fill-in, there lay an opportunity for the coach to sit the bench and let her players get a full game in. We started with 11, dropped to 10, the high numbers which provided challenges in rota ng on and off the court. We played one of the top sides, which was difficult for all, and had a lot of body going on. So, it was great to see a commitment to four quarters from all, even though it was difficult for some. Welcome back to Pom who was chucked in defence then chucked in a ack. You provided good opportuni es of play for the rest of the team, and deserved the Calcu a (Holiday). Special men on to Robbie our captain, who played a solid game. My incen ve (The Eighth Le er) went to Mandz who played GK and GD and ba led admirably all game. We play because we love the game, love the mateship and love the end-of-year trip. And we support each other and we are kind. Grazie ❤️ B Grade: Robe 23 Hatherleigh 49. Calcu a (Retail Therapy) – Car a Borelli; Incen ve (Loaves & Fishes) – Sophie Kokiousis. A Reserve: Robe 51 Hatherleigh 38. What a game! We kept ourselves controlled and adapted to different situa ons successfully. We are so good as rever ng back to our game, and regrouping when needed. Demi and Ash performed amazingly as always, Keels and Alex backing up and driving well. Kimberley and Han in defence were strong and worked well together. Han played a controlled driving game which earned her the incen ve (The Pastry Place), and Ash took away to Calcu a (Steve's Place) for her great defensive game in a ack. A Grade: Robe 49 Hatherleigh 46. What a great team game! With a new line up we came out confident in ourselves and each other. Sarah and Halle combined so well together in goals, shoo ng extremely accurately for the game. Once again Lucy and Annie fed well into the goalies and put on great defensive pressure down the court. Congrats to Maisie on her first game, slo ng in well at WD and ge ng stronger every quarter. Emma had a boomer at GD, with some great intercepts and rebounds. Thanks to Taylor for slo ng in at GK, once again ge ng us out of trouble and playing like she's part of the team every week. Calcu a (Holiday) went to Emma and Incen ve (Pure Luxe) went to Sarah.
Junior 2: Great game last week everyone, you should be proud of yourselves. Everyone played so well, with a lot of touches down the court and a lot of chasing a er dropped balls. Metalworx Award went to Ka e who was in front and got a lot of touches in defence and Lico Pty Ltd Award went to Billy for moving around in the circle, calling for the ball when he was in front and cheering on his other teammates when they got a touch, intercept or goal. Well done everyone. Junior 1: Great game girls! Everyone played hard for the whole game and showed some great skills throughout. One of the big posi ves to take from that game was the defensive pressure down the court which resulted in many turnovers in both the defence and a acking line. Eddie Kuhl Tyres Award went to Annabelle for ge ng many intercepts down the court and providing great front op ons for players to pass to. Second best went to Gracie for moving well in the goal circle in the first half and then ge ng many intercepts in the goal circle when she moved to GK. Well done girls. 13 & Under: 50-28. Wow, what an awesome game to watch! Everybody played a fantas c game and loved the encouragement from every one of you. We started off a bit scrappy in the first quarter, but we adjusted really well and played some good quality netball. Mackenzie played a fantas c game at wing defence backing up her teammates. Layla and Taya feeding into the goalies was on point and had some great transi ons down the court. Dycer Construc on Award went to Macy Williamson, your defensive pressure was amazing and you stuck to your player the en re game, picking off countless balls and picking up any loose balls. Chloe Childs and Violet Thorne worked effortlessly in the goal circle together, it was so good to watch. Second best went to Chloe Childs and Encouragement Award went to Violet Thorne. Well done girls, you should be so proud of yourselves. 15 & Under: 49-44. Great game girls. You all played a solid 4 quarters and rewarded yourself with the win. You all drove hard to the ball, met each pass, talking down the court and backing each other up. There was great determina on to pick up loose balls and encourage each other down the court. Maloney Plumbing Award went to Montana - she made great posi on and kept working hard constantly re-offering. She made some great defensive intercepts down our a acking end also. Second went to Emma who worked hard with cu ng the drive to the post and picking up floa ng players. Mid court, defence and a ack all worked well and congrats on a great win. You played hard right to the final whistle. 17 & Under: 53-38. Even though we had a win we were extremely flat for the first three quarters - in the last quarter our intensity to want the ball was much be er and we were able to create many turnovers throughout the whole court. Our goalies finished off strong in the circle and its great to see our driving down the court and crea ng space con nuing to improve each week - we just need to remember to con nue working on coming front, a acking the ball hard and pulling in the ball strongly. DeGaris Lawyers Award went to Lara
who worked hard all game, feeding into the goalies well and defensively got her hand to many balls also. Second best went to Jorja who had some really strong holds and great movement in the goal circle. B Reserve: 64-14. Well done girls. It was a much be er quality of play since our last round and a real team effort with everyone contribu ng. Our defensive pressure down the court was great and passages of play from a turnover in defence to the drive down mid court and into our goal circle was great to watch from the sidelines. The goalies holding and shoo ng in the circle was good and feeding into the goalies was also on point. Our defence were also on top of their game with many intercepts and touches being converted. Well done to Alyssa and Shae for stepping onto the court in the last quarter - you both did a great job and it was great to see Shae play with her mum. Key 2 Sale Award went to Krystal for some great reading of the play and intercepts and second best to Ryleigh for awesome hand pressure and chasing of loose balls hard to pick last week though. Remember to play your game of netball with that posi ve a tude you all had last week and you will go far! B Grade: 81-37. Great game girls! We wanted to start strong and that is what we did - the pressure all the way down the court was great. We lacked voice a bit which we all know we need to work on! Thanks so much to Bri any for filling in and doing a great job at GK and also to Kayla - it was great to have you back in the side, you had a ripper game and earnt the Planta on Treated Timber Award. Second best went to Sally who had many turnovers for the day. A Reserve: 69-48. Excellent game girls, it was lovely to play with our full team, the court was full of posi vity and was such a good game by all. Abbie - very accurate shoo ng - well done to see you on a roll, Laura fantas c moving in the circle and providing space, but also shoo ng those ones in range too. Sam and Tameka so many touches in defence and down the court, fantas c effort. Jessie and Alyce excellent feeding to the goalies and you're constant running all day. There were a few passages of scrappy netball, so that is something to work on, but was excellent to get the win. Well done. B&P Travel & Cruise Award went to Abbie and second best to Bec. A Grade: 88-35. Good game girls. We started the game with really great pressure all over the court which kept them to such a low score. It was going to take a bit of me for the goalies to se le in together but it was great to see that we did take some pace off in the first quarter to allow this to happen. Despite winning the game by a good margin we s ll didn't put out a four quarter performance that we wanted. We are heading into the back end of the season and have some important games coming up, let’s make sure we are working hard at trainings and con nuing to build those court connec ons. Thank you to Emily for playing for us - your long arms are always missed! O'Brien Electrical Award went to Chloe for her defensive work, par cularly in the second half and great driving out of defence. Second best went to Chantelle for swinging into goals and working well to the front space. Lets go out strong today!

Goalies shot well and followed their shots. Defence combined well together with some great rebounding. Best player to Lucy (Fasta Pasta) for an excellent game in defence. 13 & Under: Great effort by all seven players again. We started without James and Ella C at half strength but had a brilliant first quarter start. However, we couldn't maintain the intensity and with each quarter we got more red and our passing and leads let us down. It was a physical game and I'm proud of you all for ge ng a li le back in last half. Kaylee held well at GS and didn't miss many opportuni es in first half. Ella S con nues to give her all at GA and s ll using her speed to drive into the circle. Ella also rebounded very well. Ella C with a sore wrist s ll passed beau fully into goalies. CJ fought hard, never gave up and con nues to improve. Skye received many intercep ons giving us many opportuni es and passed into goalies accurately. Ruby had a great second half ge ng intercepts and some rebounds. Paige gave her all in each posi on and applied pressure to create errors. Thanks Darcy for si ng bench and Kate for scoring at the last minute. Big thanks to Maddie for helping Kate umpire and Kerrie for last quarter assistance. We improved upon
NETball club notes score from first round which was our aim. We improved by 11 goals and it was a far be er game to watch. Keep listening and working hard and hopefully we will get the extra win we need. Penola Recycling award - Kaylee McNair. 17 & Under: Great game girls, a massive improvement on our first round result. So good to see the ball easily transi on down the court. A ack worked hard and moved the ball round well with pa ence, wai ng for the right opportunity. Goalies moved and posi oned well finishing off with great accuracy. Defence worked hard all game ge ng many hands to balls and drove well out of defence. Keep up this intensity girls, it's so good to see the improvement in you all. Pines Hotel went to Maddi. B Grade: Great effort to those who took the court! We always knew it was going to be a tough game but to not have our GS, GA and GD it was always going to make it even harder. Kate stepped up again in to GA even though it's not her fav and did some good passes. Shannon, Chloe and Ellie played relessly all game. Thanks to Demi and Maddy for filling in for us and giving your all. I greatly appreciate it! Best players Maddy Glynn and Kate Clayfield. A Reserve: Don't be too disheartened girls, whilst it was not our best day on the court there was nothing bad that led to the loss. We just forgot the few basics of a netball game, passing and space and this is all stuff we can work on before this week's game against Kongorong. The two Demi's played an outstanding game at both ends of the court. Demi I was able to intercept and turn many balls over during the game and Demi H moved well in the goal circle to open the play up. Congratula ons girls. We have the right balance girls but some mes it just isn't our day. Let's move forward to this week's game and hopefully we are rewarded. A Grade: Well done everyone, what a great game we had considering the circumstances. We could have let the fact we had 4 players out get to us but we didn't, we kept our composure and played some really good passages of netball. Each player has improved immensely since the start of the year. Let's con nue to work hard at training and keep playing as a team and I'm confident a win is just around the corner. Very proud of everyone's efforts. Thanks Cassie, Demi and Taysha for filling in and to Kaitlyn for playing her first quarter in A Grade - you did well. Best players went to Cassie Dinnison and Ebony Lawson.
Junior 1: The Kongorong juniors team came out strong from the beginning. Flick's goals and Havvi's space in the circle made easy drives and posi oning for the ball. The defence played hard with heaps of intercep ons and great leads from mid court. Well done girls! Awards were Crave Dessert Bar and Baker's Delight. 13 & Under: The girls had amazing energy and spirit last week. The overall scores certainly did not reflect on the way the girls played. With 5 players out sick again, we had 2 J1's fill in, as well as Holly A will. The girls did a brilliant job at working the ball down the court, and intercep ng as many passes as they could. The best players were Molly Whi y - $10 from the Angelino family and Lily McGrath - Hungry Jack’s voucher. Well done girls! 15 & Under: It was great to have our full team on the court, with everyone pu ng in 100%. I am so proud of each and every one of you pu ng in a brilliant team effort. We s ll need to watch some of our passing, however there were some great passages of play. Congratula ons to Thalia on playing 50 club games. Thank you to Paige for benching for us. Awards: Kongorong canteen - Kyla, Baker's Delight - Zahli. 17 & Under: Not the result we wanted but the girls’ determina on and fight in this second round is proving very strong. We led the first quarter and were down the second and third but had kept it close, only le ng it blow out in the last by 15. The girls are proving to be hard contenders though against these top 4 teams and are showing our poten al in being in the final top 4. Best players: Paige Hicks - Spring Crea ve, Jasmin McKinnon - Lima and Co. B Reserve: Bad luck girls, it was a hard fought game but you all put in a great effort. Tamika and Stacey worked well in goals and Le a, Macy
and Courtney were good at keeping the pressure on in defence. Nat and Alisha worked hard in the centre court and Stacey had some great passes into our shooters. We need to keep our passes steady and not do long bombs on windy days. Keep up the talking on court and good luck today against Nangwarry. Awards: Tamika - Arena, Macy - Vanity. B Grade: Well what a comeback girls! Not sure what happened in the first quarter but we put our heads on, played as a team and came away with the win. Billie J and Taylah you guys were outstanding! Awards: Billie J Fi h & Madison and Taylah F45. And a huge congrats to Brooke for playing 50 games and Kaylah for 150 games. A Reserve: Great game. Grinding and working hard to convert and capitalise on turnovers. We need to prac ce our calm and collec veness when a turnover occurs. Great touches and ps all down the court. Let's bring the grind this week. Congratula ons to Kaylah who played 150 club games and what a finish to top it off. Awards: Kaylah and Kelsey (The Springs Crea ve). A Grade: Great effort girls! I am so impressed with the effort we were able to put in for all four quarters and how we were able to build our game from the first whistle. Everyone played their role and although we didn't have the win, we were able to work towards our own goals and play consistent netball. Best on went to Emily Lightbody (The Springs Crea ve) and Rach Perry (Vanity) for playing their roles and applying relentless pressure throughout the whole game. Thank you to our wonderful sponsors and game day awards. Kongorong v Mt Burr game day sponsors and awards - The Springs Crea ve and Vanity Make up Bar & Body Lounge.
port macdonnell NETball club notes The Port MacDonnell Netball Club extends their deepest sympathy to Steve, Marie and Je on the passing of their much loved and adored son and brother, Dylan. Please know you are all in our thoughts and we send love and support to you and all your extended family and friends. Last Saturday against Kalangadoo, Kristy Sneath played her 100th game for our club, big congratula ons to you Kristy! Sophie Lewis also celebrated playing her 50th game for the club, well done to you Soph! Junior 1: Great game to all girls. We fought hard ll the end. Although our foot work let us down last week, it will be something to work on at training. Best player went to Addi for a strong game in defence and Evie for great shoo ng and moving in a ack. 13 & Under: Well done girls, I think we played very well, we worked so well as a team and I think it really showed all over court. We have pa ence, we have talk, and it's posi ve talk. We need to keep encouraging our team and always back each other up if there is something good that's happened on the court, get around each other and say “great job, your goal”. The more we talk nicely the more we go in for anything. Being a fairly short team we have learnt to come in front and meet the ball. Yes we have some height but not like other teams. It was a hard day for a lot of people in our club, but we kept our heads held high and stuck together. There is s ll a bit of work that needs to be done like our footwork and passes but we will go through all this a li le more at training. We played really well girls especially coming up against a tough team. Best players went to 1. Mia Spehr (Hungry Jack’s), 2. Bailee Lewis (Baker’s Delight), 3. Layla McPherson (Donut King). Great job girls, everyone should be super proud of yourselves. 15 & Under: A tough game emo onally and on the court for everyone. We had some great passages of play throughout the game which shows what we are prac cing at trainings is coming into our game play. S ll need to work on our passing and ge ng some more voice on the court. Baker’s Delight best players Jasmine Morgan and Sophie Lewis. 17 & Under: What a great game to watch, well done girls on another great game. I am super proud of everyone who hit the court! Congratula ons to Sophie Lewis on playing your 50th game when you filled in for the under 17's, and played an amazing game crea ng many turnovers for your team and driving hard to bring the ball down in a ack. Tamzyn Ailey played an

amazing defence game crea ng many turnovers for her team and crea ng opportuni es alongside Grace Jacob to allow Bridie to take clean intercepts. All over the court it was a great game by every individual that hit the court and it is great to see that we can knuckle down and work hard when we need to. Best players: Tamzyn Ailey (Baker’s Delight), Sophie Lewis (Hungry Jack’s). B Reserve: It was a great game ladies, only 1 goal in it! I'm proud of my senior players transi on in a ack and defence and the posi ve talk provided throughout the game. Our young ladies who help us out, you stepped up and did some awesome work, thank you. We only lost the 3rd quarter. We'll keep pushing through all quarters and will get our goal. Well done Ainsley (Victoria Hotel Shipwreck Bistro voucher) and Fiona (The Bay Pizzaria). B Grade: What a fantas c start we had to our game, everyone commi ed to doing their jobs. The first three quarters were played beau fully, with determina on and confidence. Passages of play were well med and the ball was worked pa ently around to score. Our defensive duo, Rachel and Brooklyn played a brilliant game. It was well balanced and coordinated and the girls worked together to gain touches and intercep ons. Kelly's ability to deliver the ball with accuracy was used to our advantage and we capitalised. Candice and Elivia combined well together to work the ball into a scoring posi on. Quick ball movement around the circles edge enabled the goalies to find perfect posi on under post. In the fourth quarter we made skill errors at cri cal mes which allowed Kalangadoo to run over the top off us. We have to work on staying calm and composed during a close scoreline. It's important to score our own and maintain possession during this period. We have to s ck to our processes and trust we've got each other's back. This is our next area to work on. Awards: Deanne Spencer (Shipwreck Bistro Victorian Hotel Port MacDonnell), Candice Merre (Bay Pizzaria). A Grade: We started out strong with only 2 goals the difference going into the second quarter, we keep with K'Doo for the second quarter but unfortunately our 3rd and 4th wasn't the best and we let K'Doo get the run on and we didn't have the fight to come back. Let's regroup now and get back into playing 4 consistent quarters and keep figh ng to the end. Best players - Brooke Williams (F45 and Fi h and Madison) and Narelle Lewis (Periwinkles).
Thanks to our major sponsors Laura & Vicki Hairdressing, South East Property Sales, Kimberly Clark Australia, Your Choice Conveyancing, Banner Mitre 10, J&M Shanks Pty Ltd, Sonya Francis Photography, All in Balance - Brad Tilley Tax and Business Advisory, Clark & Sam Fal ng and Komma Media. Junior 2: Last week's game was a li le disappoin ng in the effort from the girls, we saw lots of loose balls, many uncontested intercepts, and an astonishing number of flimsy passes. I am more than proud to say when I pulled the girls aside in the last quarter to debrief the game with them, they took everything I said on board and the final quarter was the best quarter of the game. Many new things to work on this week. Thank you once again to Hannah for filling in this week! Junior 1: Amazing effort girls! Our hard work at training is definitely paying off, with everyone taking into account some of the key skills we have been focusing on. Some great passages of play could be seen all throughout the court, which is such an improvement! Best player went to Indi, who even though is one of our li lest players, worked hard in every posi on she was put in! Fantas c job to all of the girls, you should all be so proud of how much you have improved! 13 & Under: Well done girls, we started off strongly and that was great to see. Our passing and pa ence with passing down court is ge ng stronger with every week. We worked hard with our on ball defence all over the court and this created many turnovers. We rebounded strong in defence and also in the circle and then finishing off well. Keep working hard girls. Thanks to Jay for scoring, Madi for umpiring and Tess for suppor ng me and the girls as our wonderful team manager. Awards: Acky's - Stella and Fasta Pasta - Gemma. 15 & Under: A good game, it took a while to get into the flow of the game but we did towards the end. We managed to keep our heads up when a few mistakes were made, and also maintaining that posi ve a tude towards the game. Thank you to Stacey for umpiring and Amanda for scoring. 17 & Under: Kongorong came out strong and caught us off-guard, resul ng with us being down 0-6 within the first few minutes. Once we se led and found our feet, we managed to peg back at the margin and came away with a 15 goal win. It was great to see the girls communica on improve between each other as this allows them to li their energy and improve their team game. Thank you to Simone for umpiring and Jo for scoring. The awards went to Jarrah Altschwager (Cafe Melzar), Jasmine Holland
(Fasta Pasta) and Maddie Gamble (Acky's Takeaway). B Reserve: Good job girls, we started strongly from the start and con nued throughout the game. We created many turnovers with our on ball defence all over the court. We do have fantas c support for each other, in whatever posi ons you play in, which makes us only be er as a team. Thanks to Wayne for scoring, Mandy for umpiring and Amelia for being a fantas c team manager and a great support to me and the girls. Awards: Millicent Chemist - Karen, Millicent Florist - Amy and Harper & Co - Faith. B Grade: Bad luck girls, we came out firing in the first, we just couldn't hold onto it for the win, a tough ba le down the court. Lani and Gemma working well in goals standing strong against a tough defence. Lilly, Tess and Mackenzie working hard to feed the circle. Madi started her game in WD and worked hard to stop her players drive to the circle and move the ball down the court with ease. Jazmin and Stace combined well in defence ge ng a few hands to the ball and turning it over. We once again dipped a bit in the third but con nued to fight out the game. Thanks to Abbey si ng bench and Mackenzie and Gemma for taking the court. Awards went to Lani Enchanted Beauty, Gemma - Beauty by Hannah and Stacey - K&S Fuels. A Reserve: Bad luck girls, so close. What a great game to watch, you all worked together as a team, unfortunately couldn’t hold on for the win. Leila and Jasmine combining well in goals, Bri and Amelia working well to move the ball forward in to offence and feeling the ball into the circle. Kelly, Maddie and Mckenzie worked hard all game to get turnovers and move the ball back in to our end. Even though we didn’t come away with the win you never gave up and fought all the way. Awards went to Leila Enchanted Beauty, Maddi - Harper and Co and Jasmine - Millicent Chemist. A Grade: We started the game well with plenty of the ball in our a ack and we were able to get the ball into space and feed our goalies well which allowed them to convert at a high rate and this showed on the scoreboard. This set us up for the win and we were able to build on the margin throughout the remainder of the game. Our defensive efforts for the day were our real highlights as we restricted Kongorong from scoring. Overall it was a good all round effort last week. A big thank you to Heidi for helping us out while she was home, her presence on court will be missed. Score: Mt Burr 58 Kongorong 27. Thanks to Leah for umpiring, Karen for scoring and Tanya for primary caring.

NETball club notes Junior 2: The girls had a great game down at Robe. Every week they ask where they have to stand and where they can go. I tested them Thursday night and they all know exactly where to go (I think they ask me out of habit). So Saturday I didn't tell them and they all found their spots and knew exactly what to do. So many brilliant passages of play down the court and many goals scored. They got absolutely soaked wet but all s ll had smiles on their li le faces and it didn't faze them at all. Like a good coach I went and hid in the shed ha. Our awards went to Lilly for outstanding running (just like her mother), finding space and holding at the top of the circle. Our second award went to Lidi, I love her in defence but man did she nailed WA. Awesome team effort by everyone, they all deserved an award! Junior 1: Another awesome game against Robe for the J1's. The girls are really star ng to understand the job of each posi on and are pu ng in so much effort to play at their best. Loads of goals were scored this game which is awesome as it shows that the girls are moving the ball great down the court. The girls are steadying their passes and making a conscious effort to come in front to receive a pass. Chiara received an award as she always puts in 100% in both a ack and defence. 13 & Under: We started well, experiencing having control of the ball more in Saturday's game. Was exci ng to see our girls having more confidence in their play and making great leads, with yet again more ballme in the a acking third. Tamika and Isabel again read each other's movements well in the goal circle, with Ebony, Lani and Jaycie feeding in well. The rain came in the 3rd quarter making things slippery, really pushing us to think about our passes while moving down the court. We will con nue to work on our accuracy and ensuring we make quick, good choices when passing to free players. Awards went to Rachael Thwaites (Hungry Jack’s) for a consistent game in defence crea ng lots of turnovers and excellent leads, and to Payton Bowman (McDonald’s) for a great half in the goal circle. 15 & Under: With a couple of injuries I knew it was gonna be hard with posi onal changes. If only we could scrap the first quarter. Second quarter we outscored Robe by 2 goals so well done. Unfortunately we had to make changes and we had to work hard to get the ball to our goalies. Our goal was to improve on last round and you have all achieved that so that is great. Bethan received the Donut King Award and Isla received the Sportspower Award. 17 & Under: Such a great team game against Robe girls. Every player in every posi on did their job and it resulted in a win which is what we needed. Really awesome game Tiges. Jade had a ripper, driving hard
NETball club notes and passing strong which earned her the Somerset Award. Tayla came out firing, ge ng her hands to tons of ball and driving hard out of defence which earned her the Denton’s award. Let's keep up the hard work ladies! B Reserve: 46-14. Well done girls! For having only half of our team on the day it is a credit to you all for soldiering on in the wet condi ons and coming away with the win. A big thank you to our U17s players, Chloe, Jade and Holly for helping us fill a side - we really appreciate it. Best players were awarded to Kateesha (Lima and Co) for working relessly all game and crea ng many turnovers and Chloe T (Fi h and Madison) who played a fantas c game in GS shoo ng with great accuracy. B Grade: Well done girls! It felt so good to get back to the type of netball that I know we are capable of playing. Every single player that stepped on the court did their job and executed exactly as I asked. Our defensive combo of Kim, Gemmah and Holly pulled in so many intercepts and rebounds. Ffion did exactly what was asked of her. Alice, Jodie and Demi moved the ball well through the mid court. Kirsty and Bek played another good game together in the goal circle, finishing accurately. It was really hard to pick best players, everyone deserved to be in there for different reasons. Tant 41 d Robe 29. Best players: Kim (Foodland) and Kirsty (Heaven on Hanger). Let's work hard at training to iron out the wrinkles before a few tough games. A Reserve: We started our game quite strong, our shots were hit and miss but I felt we played quite well to start off with. Our defence were outstanding and work extra hard on their great shooters. We need to stay focussed all 4 quarters and to also have fun. Let's go all out for the remaining season. Big congratula ons to our junior Charli who got to play her first full game and what an amazing job you did. You did not look out of place and worked so hard, well done Charli. Best: Danni Vanderheul - Tantanoola ladies commi ee voucher, Michelle Robinson - New Heaven Voucher, and Charli Kaigg - Sassi voucher. A Grade: A great team effort girls and even be er we got the win! Everyone did their job out there and the intensity was so great to watch. Our defensive unit was on point and any loose ball we fought hard to get it. In a ack we stayed composed and put in the hard yards to get scores on the board. We congratulate our rock in the team, Kate, on 200 A Grade games. You are an inspiring player and we all look up to you. Kate also had a ripper game and we couldn't get these wins without you. Awards went to Kate Bromley - Lima and Co, and Kristy Varcoe - Heaven on a Hanger. Solid effort girls!
Junior 2: We worked hard on our dodging to find the front posi on. Charlo e and Violet drove strongly in the mid-court, Poppy and Myla had hands over every pass and jumped on every loose ball. While the Green girls combined well together in the goal circle, to finish off the shot. Our passes are ge ng stronger and more accurate every week, which just need to make sure we choose the person who is free. Awards: Kaia Green (HLC), Violet Fitzgerald (Toy Kingdom). Junior 1: The J1 Eagles put out a great game, winning their posi ons all over the court. It was pleasing to see girls throwing out in front using a one-handed shoulder pass. While the girls experimented with the lob into space under the ring, they s ll used their dodge and front cut convincing in the goal circle. Eagles defence made it tough for Robe to get any flow in their ball movement. Girls kept their eyes up and used fast footwork to get around for the turnover. Alirah got the Maccas award for good voice down the court and excellent feeding. Mollie got the Ladies Commi ee award for her persistence in goals and determina on in defence. 13 & Under: We were sluggish to start. It’s important that we go back to basics when things aren't working, but also make sure we work as a team, and all put it in from the first whistle. In the first half, Luca worked hard in the a ack line, cu ng front, while Grace provided plenty of drive down the centre of the court. Poppy and Sylvie combined well in the goal circle while Olivia Bellinger boxed out strongly and picked up the loose balls in the second half. Remember we need to use our voices to encourage one another, support each other and li each other up. When we work together and everyone plays their part, great things can happen. Awards: Sylvie Barlow (HLC), Grace Andre (McDonald’s), Olivia Bellinger (Denton’s Sportspower). 15 & Under: Another good performance from the girls. We led from the start to the end, which is good, our leads were very one dimensional which is not so good. When it’s wet we need to shorten our game and s ll work hard on our prelims. Kalli had a tough game, spending a lot of me picking herself up off the court but s ll managed to shoot accurately, Niah also is adap ng to GD and gave us plenty of drive. Everyone had some really good patches of play which is pleasing as team efforts is what wins games. Keep working hard girls, there's s ll plenty of work to do. Awards: Kalli Ne le (HLC), Niah Faulkner (HLC). 17 & Under: An incredible comeback once again. We have really proved how much we have come together as a team. Elly and Niah are an insane duo in defence, picking off countless balls. Midcourt Demi, Kalli and Halle drove the ball down, shu ng down a lot of drives and crea ng their fair share of turnovers. Imogen and Dakota, once again - accurate and strong! Beyond proud of you girls, con nue to work hard and discipline yourselves (your own fitness!). We s ll have plenty to work on and strengthen. Thank you to Anna and Deni for si ng bench. Awards: Halle Marino (Java Café), Dakota Hateley (HLC). B Reserve: A er a scrappy first quarter with our passes, playing behind and rushing, we went into the second quarter far more focused and se led and our intensity was a lot stronger. Sadly, Jo went down with an injury but not before taking some speccy intercepts and applying a lot of pressure. Sally and Grace both played strong in C and WA feeding the ball into
the goalies beau fully and both crea ng many turnovers. Nic and Sarah were both strong in goals and shot great, both following their shots and ge ng their rebounds. Fee had a crack in WD and didn't disappoint along with Staci in GD and Lucy in GK who rebounded strongly and returned the ball back out of defence with lots of drive down the court. Sadly, we have lost Jess for the season due to her doing her ACL. We wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to having her on the bench cheering us on. We also wish Jo well and have our fingers crossed that her injury isn't as bad as expected. Thank you to Kez for coaching last week, it was much appreciated by myself and the girls. Thank you to Paris for si ng bench and your encouragement. Thank you to Lorrie for scoring, Bec for ming and Sam Ackie for PC. We really are lucky that people are more than happy to help out when needed. Awards: Sally Bateman (Somerset Hotel), Grace Abbo (K&S Fuels), Nic Thomas (Kelsey Wight Fitness), Sarah Beare (HS&RC). B Grade: We had Georgia Gray playing her 100th game and the expecta ons were for a good solid win to celebrate. We started off very rushed and forge ng some of the basics we have been prac cing to only be up by 1 at the first break. We then slowed things down, went back to what we have been working on and then the scoreline took care of itself. Paris and Hayley combined nicely together in goals while Meg and Ellie fed nicely into them. Jas our energiser bunny had hands to everything, and I say this week-in and week-out, but our defensive unit of Ella, Sophie and Georgia was rock solid again with Georgia playing a cracker for her 100th! Great win girls and let's con nue to work hard and build what we're working on at trainings. Thank you to Stacey and Mel for ming and scoring and to my good old faithful PC Linda! Awards: Georgia Gray (Somerset Hotel), Jas Bellinger (Somerset Hotel), Paris Schroeder (HS&RC). A Reserve: Although we didn't come out on top, we put up a solid fight and showed promising signs considering we had a few players out. The first two quarters there was nothing between the two teams. Defenders each end were coming through with fantas c turnovers and contes ng all possession. Rosie drove strong through the centre and gave decisive ball into the goalies. Eliza and Olivia's movement and vision into each other con nues to build and they had some very fluid movement in the circle. Robe got on top in the third and even a er a few mini fight backs, they scored consistently and made it difficult for us to make up any ground. Lucy Chant got the Sport and Rec award for her strong four quarters of determined and persistent defence. Olivia received the Somerset Award for consistently providing a focal point in the goal ring, working hard to drive and present. A Grade: A tough game girls where not much went our way. We managed to keep ourselves in the game only to turn the ball over with silly errors, which seemed to be on our C pass, cos ng us not one goal but two every me. It’s hard to come from behind in those close games but to everyone's credit no-one gave up and with a li le luck… who knows? Tegan did a mountain of work at WA and was clearly our key play maker, Lara also had a solid four quarters at GD giving us plenty of drive. Everyone had patches of really good play we're just lacking a 60-minute performance. Awards: Lara MacGregor (Somerset Hotel), Chelsea Galpin (SinceFi y-Six).
ROUND 12 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW Glencoe 88 def Nangwarry 35 At their home court Glencoe took on an undermanned Nangwarry side, with four of their squad backing up for a second consecu ve game. The Saints immediately turned over the first centre pass of the match through an intercept from Ebony Lawson but were unable to convert. The Glencoe defenders came out with real intent, not allowing Nangwarry any easy transi on into their a acking circle. This pressure resulted in the Murphies being out by four goals before the Saints found their first scoring opportunity. Despite high defensive pressure being applied all over the court, the first quarter was played at a slower pace with both a acking ends fielding new goalie combina ons. A high defensive work rate from Chloe Pfitzner and Sarah Edwards kept the Saints to only 3 goals for the quarter, while Glencoe converted 16. The Saints swapped Cassie Dinnison into goal a ack and Demi Hoffmeister into goal keeper following the first break. Despite Glencoe scoring the first three goals of the quarter through a centre pass intercept from Edwards the posi onal swap worked wonders for the Nangwarry side. Kylie Heaver took control of the Nangwarry a ack line and began to find the circle edge with ease. While the familiarity between Dinnison and Tahlia Wilson opened up plenty of space and scoring opportuni es for the Saints. The Murphies' goalie combina on of Chantelle Cocks and Malinda Markiewicz began to find be er connec on also. Glencoe's Donna Jaeschke ran hard through the middle, with her long court drives being a vital link between the defensive and a acking lines despite the close a en on from Lawson. In a much ghter second quarter contest, the Murphies went into the main break with a 22 goal advantage. The Murphies moved Emily Thompson into goal keeper and Chloe Pfitzner to her more familiar posi on of wing defence. Cocks li ed her work rate in the second half, u lising the space given to her to front cut into the circle at every opportunity. Glencoe's Ashlea Edwards and Nangwarry's Taysha Marshall had a good ba le on the wing, with both girls contes ng hard for every ball. The move of Pfitzner onto the wing for the Murphies worked to limit the hard drives of Heaver. However, Wilson con nued to find space on the baseline and finish accurately for the Saints. The defensive pressure con nued to come from Glencoe which forced the Saints into some held balls. The scores were Glencoe 62 to Nangwarry 28 heading into the final break. Saints youngster Kaitlin Roise er came on at wing defence for the final quarter. Glencoe came out with a li ed intensity with mul ple op ons being available over the court. Markiewicz and Cocks con nued to find the post and shoot with accuracy. While at the other end the long arms of Thompson came into play, with any missed shots from the Saints being rebounded strongly. The consistent defensive work of Hoffmeister began to show reward in the back end of the quarter, ge ng hand to any high ball coming into the Murphies shoo ng circle. Despite the efforts of the Saints, the Glencoe side con nued to put the foot down and run home with a huge 26 goal quarter. With the final score being Glencoe 88 to Nangwarry 35. Best players - Glencoe:Chloe Pfitzner, Chantelle Cocks; Nangwarry: Cassie Dinnison, Ebony Lawson.
Hatherleigh 46 lost to Robe 49 This match was set to be the match of the round and it sure didn't disappoint, as the game started with both teams going goal for goal. The intensity was high from the start, and there was heavy defensive pressure that was applied all the way down the court from both teams which resulted in turnovers that both the Eagles and Roosters were able to capitalise on. From very early on the umpires were heavily involved as things were ge ng physical. Hatherleigh seemed to se le first and got on roll to be 5 up at one stage during the first quarter. Robe has had to re jig their a ack line a er losing Tori Gluyas to a season ending ankle injury, which has seen Halle Carter step up and take the GA posi on which she did with ease, slo ng in perfectly. Robe worked hard to pin back the scoreline and they were able to do that going to the first break one up 13-14. Hatherleigh went to the bench and rotated players
through their defensive line, which didn't seem to affect the momentum, whilst Robe remained unchanged. Robe's Halle Carter and Sarah Laurie had a huge quarter with both shoo ng at 100%, the connec on between the two was working well as they were both able to find great space and convert. There were key match ups all down the court, which saw every ball ghtly contested under a lot of pressure. The home side welcomed back Maddie Pulmer who has a great connec on with Abby Wight which saw the home side level up and go to the main break even 25-25. The third term saw more movement from the Hatherleigh bench with Galpin to the bench and Georgia Hunter back into the game at WD, whilst Robe remained unchanged again. Both ends were well supported by their mid courts who were able to hit the circle edge easily and provide their goalies with some accurate feeding. The key matchup between Lara MacGregor and Halle Carter was proving to be tough as neither player was willing to give up a pass or rebound. Robe's circle defence were able to gain turnovers through Emma Grant and Taylor Hunt which helped their side take the lead by 3 up 36-39 at three quarter me. The home side once again made changes, bringing Demi Vanderhorst into GA, Galpin back into GK and giving Maddie Pulmer a rest. Galpin and MacGregor worked relessly to create opportuni es for their side and when they did, they were able to convert quickly through Wight and Vanderhorst. Robe con nued to push and step up the pressure as they just held their noses in front. Lucy Perkins provided her side with a great 4 quarter consistent performance using her speed and working relessly to support her goalies. Half way through the final term Wight le the court and Pulmer re-entered the game back in at GS. Both sides con nued to fight but small errors from the home side were quickly capitalised on by Robe as they held on to take the match by 3. Best players - Hatherleigh: Lara MacGregor, Chelsea Galpin; Robe: Emma Grant, Sarah Laurie.
Kongorong 27 lost to Mt Burr 58 Round 12 at Kongorong saw the strong ou it of Mount Burr take on the young Hawks at home in solid condi ons. Mount Burr got off to a great shoo ng the first couple goals unanswered. Heidi Clark for Mount Burr was on from the second the first whistle blew, working hard with the drive and feeding with accuracy to her goalies Sarah Nulty and Ebony Clark who were both accurate under the post, together knocking up 19 for the quarter. While down the other end of the court, the new look combo of Evie Sealey and Ella McIntyre - in the absence of playing coach Tilah Buckingham sidelined with illness - struggled to adjust with the Mozzies able to make the most of any errors or loose balls. With the Hawks looking nervous and slightly unse led in the first quarter, the Mozzies were able to capitalise well giving them a 14 goal lead heading into the first break. The second quarter saw the defensive line-ups for both teams have a real good crack across the court. Nulty for the Mozzies and Riley Buckingham for the Hawks ba led hard in the circle, both at mes being influen al for their respec ve sides through the second term. The Hawks se led up in the second quarter, with Sealey and McIntyre able to look a er the ball with some accurate feeding from Kate Wright and Rach Perry, and reward their side. Buckingham and Sarah Lucas in defence for the Hawks were working over me, making the Mozzies play possession netball and work the ball around. Laura Schultz and Heidi Clark however turned it up another gear, where their experience showed and the Mozzies lead by the pa ence and skill of their mid court were able to push their lead out a further 5 at half me with the Mozzies 31 to Kongorong 12. The Hawks went into the third quarter with work to do, and to do so made some changes bringing Emily Lightbody into GK adding some height into the circle and Lynley Page with fresh legs into WD. Lightbody's height proved crucial as she was able to get her hands to any rebounds and Buckingham li ed her work rate and started to see some reward from her pressure in the first half. Down the other end of the court the Mozzies defenders were also finding their groove with Madi Hagge and Olivia Dean finding hands all over the court and capitalising on any
missed shots by the Hawks. This quarter saw Ebony Clark the focal point for Mount Burr, as she shot 11 of her sides 15 goals for the term, leading the Mozzies to outscore the Hawks 15 to 7 as they worked the ball down the court fast and with accuracy. Both teams con nued to fight hard defensively up either end to run out the game. The game seen Buckingham's pressure progressively build and well supported by Lightbody down the defensive end for Kongorong whilst Hagge and Dean up the other end both didn't ease up pace, capitalising on any errors and transi oning the ball down the court to give their side a mass of scoring opportuni es. Despite the young Hawks improving game and a empts to limit the damage on the scoreboard, Mount Burr were able to get a look at much more of the ball in a ack which ul mately saw them run away with the game. Best players - Mount Burr: Heidi Clark, Sarah Nulty; Kongorong: Emily Lightbody, Rach Perry.
Pt MacDonnell 36 lost to Kalangadoo 58 With Round 2 in full swing, Kalangadoo faced Port MacDonnell for the second me. A brief sun shower before the start of the game made the court a bit slippery so players had to err on the side of cau on. Both teams were missing two key players, as Kalangadoo's centre Jayde Peacock and the Bay's goalie Toni Gilmore were both away. Both teams came out firing at the beginning of the game looking to find early turnovers. Port Mac gun Alana Winter paired up well against Kalangadoo's returned Abbey Duncan. Winter was able to gain some early intercepts to ra le Duncan. Port Mac defender Belinda O'Dine worked hard to control youngster Kori Collins, but her accurate distance shoo ng limited rebound opportuni es for the Bay. Kalangadoo's defence line of Reanna Weatherall and Lauren Kain paired well together to control the Port Mac goalies. Goal a ack Brooke Williams shot with impeccable accuracy and moved well in the ring. However, it was Kalangadoo whose excellent court transi on held them over the line leading into the second quarter. Kalangadoo led by 2 at quarter me. Port Mac came out looking to gain the lead in the second quarter. Wing a ack Narelle Lewis was familiar with Kalangadoo Under 15 Georgia Gen le a er coaching her at Country Championships three weeks ago, so Lewis knew how to control the youngster. Despite Lewis' strong drives and accurate feeding into the goal ring, Port Mac's goalies struggled to shoot and created many rebounding opportuni es for the Pies' tall defenders. Kalangadoo Under 17 player Sophie Wrightson fought against the Bay's Liza Mutch, and their ba le through the middle was one to watch. Kalangadoo goalies shot with great accuracy; despite the defensive pressure they were under. The Magpies' fast and tough court play created pressure for the Bay and allowed Kalangadoo to increase their lead. Kalangadoo led by 7 at half me. Kalangadoo's experienced Kirsty Egan worked well with young Wrightson, and the two were crucial in the a ack line up. Egan fed well into goalie, Collins, who missed very few goals for the quarter. Port Mac defender Winter was consistent and limited Duncan's opportuni es in the ring. Port Mac goalie Carrison struggled under the defensive pressure of Weatherall and struggled to score, and le Williams in charge of a emp ng the shots. The Bay's Mutch and Jess Lynch worked well together to control Kalangadoo's skilful a ack line, but Kalangadoo's strength and vigour allowed them to increase their lead significantly. Kalangadoo led by 17 at three quarter me. Looking to challenge Kalangadoo's Egan, the Bay's speedy Mutch was swapped into the wing defence posi on, giving Lynch the C bib. Kalangadoo's Duncan was challenged by Winter and struggled to score, but this was no problem as young Collins couldn't miss. Port Mac's Lewis took advantage of a ring Gen le and con nued to work consistently to support her goalies. Kalangadoo's Kain managed to get on top of firing Williams and gain turnovers for the Pies. In the end, it was Kalangadoo's skill and fitness that held them over the line in what was a tough and skilful game. Best players - Port MacDonnell: Narelle Lewis, Brooke Williams; Kalangadoo: Kirsty Egan, Kori Collins.
