The Family League and sons plugga
Tony 'Plugga' Elletson (Reserves Coach) and grandson Harrison (Senior Colts) play together for the first time in the Reserves, and Nathaniel (Under 11) as waterboy. Many a good patch of play saw a slick handball from dad to son, and vice versa, or a carefully measured kick between each other, ending in a goal or two.

A Grade: It's always a challenge playing the Burr at the Burr and Saturday was no different. The first quarter was a real ba le with them bringing some serious heat and pressure at the ball and player. We managed to weather the storm and held a 2 goal margin at the break. The 2nd quarter we managed to gather some momentum and stretched out margin out to 5 goals, which was pre y much the margin for the remainder of the match. The 2nd half became a bit greasy with some rain which turn it into a scrap but we held firm to win by 29 points. It was an even spread of goal kickers with 7 guys hi ng the scoreboard and no one kicking more than 2. Best players were Will Chay, Sam Gray, Winnie Smith, Darcy Bateman and Louis Brown.

B Grade: Mount Burr at Mount Burr is always a challenge, a nice ground to play at where we seem to always play well and can use our running game on the big wide oval, we did just that. Came out firing kicking 6 opening goals, credit to Mount burr in the second quarter they brought the heat and stuck with us. We got the game back on our terms a er half me and ran out the game 130 point winners, we probably felt like our goal kicking let us down a bit at mes. Something we will address leading into the pointy end of the season, but we are playing good team first football, doing the li le things right! Muff made a great return a er spending 6 weeks away up north kicking 6 goals. Reidy took full advantage of the wide ground playing across half back. Bre Watson was outstanding on the other flank. Porge Gilbo star ng to find some form at either end of the ground. Young Shanksy rounded out our best!
Senior Colts: In a must win game, the lads put together one of the most exci ng games for the year. A er a slow start, we were playing catch up for 3 quarters before we hit the front in the 4th. The boys stuck to the game plan and credit to them they achieved a 12 point win to keep us in touch with finals. Our best player for the day was Zak Bowering with an unbelievable effort around the ball all day Aus n Ne le was also just as good kicking 6. Tyson Atkinson brought a refuse to lose a tude and found plenty of ball. Archie Morgan played his best game all year, leading up and finding space. While Blake Snook was again solid at full back taking a large amount of intercept grabs. Let's keep it rolling boys!
Junior Colts: With Mt Burr being a bit short in players it was a good chance we mixed the teams up to make it an even hit out for both sides with our top ages rota ng through playing for each team against each other. The Burr kept us scoreless in the first quarter and they kicked 2.2. Credit to our team we bounced back in the second kick 3.4 and finishing the game off strong kicking 9.7 to Burr 4.3. 1st best was Ned Fitzgerald, 2nd Harry Gilbertson, 3rd best Billy Bowering, 4th best Campbell Leopold and 5th best William Dower. Really happy with the teams effort and the sportsmanship they showed for the game
Under 11: This week we played at the Burr. It was a great day for it, the sun was out. We flipped a couple guernseys to even out numbers. It was good skills all day with plenty of kicks hi ng the target, shepherds, tackles and goals. Best players were Kolton, Parker, Sylvester, Tyler, Hugo, and Olly.

A big thank you to Port Mac for helping us out with players in all junior grades.
Thank you to all that a ended Nangchella it was a well-supported night with loads of dancing and selfies. I am certain we all felt the fes val vibe. A big thank you to Hayley who took charge of the decora ons and she did a great job.
Next home game is our Auc on which is the biggest fundraiser for the club, if you have a business and would like to support us by dona ng please catch up with Tamara and Teresa. Otherwise we look forward to seeing what the teams organise as their items.
Four games le so let's finish the season off with a few wins!
We would we'd like to individually thank our several Major Sponsors for suppor ng the Nangwarry Netball and Football Club for season 2023. This week we acknowledge Empak Homes and Spiderman SE. Empak Homes design and construct some of the region's premier homes, ranging from tradi onal elegance to cu ng edge modern style. If you are looking to build why not check out Empak.
Our defensive pressure and tackling was good to watch, we moved the ball very well throughout the match and we certainly had our chances up forward but weren't able to convert. The improvement and effort from these kids are second to none each week, they all have good footy in them and it shows each week against the good sides and they should hold their heads high.
B Grade: Well today we came up against a very strong side. It didn't help with players pulling out the night before or not turning up. The boys in the middle had the be er of the opposi on for the whole game. We were in the game right up un l the last quarter. Thanks to the four colts who played today, they all had a red hot go. With four games to go we are s ll a chance to make the finals but it's going to take a lot of hard work, so let's all get out on the track this week and make it happen. Best: Sco y, BJ, Smithy, Hoody, Chunder, Ben Just. Goals: Benny D 2, Calais 2, Blake 1. Go the Saints.

Spor ng clubs would not survive without sponsorship, so we thank you very much.
Under 11: Today we took on Port Mac at home. All kids gave it their all and are improving week to week. It's good to see our li le Sainters having a crack. Port Mac lent us a few to even up the sides so a big thanks to them. We will see you all at Hatherleigh to have another good hit out. Catch u li le Sainters then.
Junior Colts: Good weekend of footy to play at home against Port Mac, thanks to Ma y Fox for shou ng some players to make a day of it. The boys put in a good four quarter effort, we were right into it un l half me. The Port Mac boys’ class was on show and got it done pre y convincingly
A Grade: We fronted up against Port MacDonnell who are si ng on top of the ladder. Port MacDonnell won the toss and elected to kick with the 4 goal breeze. We started the first quarter well kicking the first goal of the game and again linked together some very impressive passages of play. Li le fundamental errors prevented us from conver ng further passages of play. Our opposi on were able to find out op ons and their strong running game enabled them to get consecu ve goals on the board and have the lead at quarter me. However we were happy with our posi on at quarter me knowing we were very well s ll in the game kicking with the wind in the second quarter. Unfortunately we did not take advantage of the situa on and were not direct enough and poor decision making by foot allowing the opposi on to cut off our movement forward. For the remainder of the game we again showed flashes of good play but were outscored in the last half. Although our scoreline was slightly be er than last me we met we are looking to further execute our game plan this week and moving forward. Goal kickers: Andy Hyland 3, Brayden Kelly and Joel Virtanen 1 each. Best players: Ty Dinnison, Joel Virtanen, Jake Biggs, Brodie Parsons, Adam Todd, Logan Gibbs.

Junior Colts: Junior Colts played another strong 4 quarter game against Nangwarry We defended well and were able to turn the footy over to put a good score on the board. We were able to give some younger players more opportuni es, which they made the most of. Another great, all round team performance.

Senior Colts: Last week we travelled up to Nangwarry. The Nanga's boys have neem undermanned so we were able to lend them 7 players for each half to help make an 18 aside game, with Je and Harry coming up from the mini's to help out on our bench. These games are what local footy is about, clubs helping each other out so that the kids can all get a game of footy in. Thanks to Nanga's for working in with us and to all or boys for jumping over and playing for them. With uncertainty over footy future in the South East, clubs must s ck together. We set some goals before the game and the boys achieved them, so as a coaching group we were pleased with the game. A lot be er accuracy in front of goal in the first quarter was great to see. Good stuff to Kurt who kicked 2 goals for Nangwarry. Connor Richards in his 2nd game back from last years knee injury managed to kick a goal which was great to see. Dexter O'Dine kicked his first goal of the year whilst playing on his brother Pheonix who was helping out Nangwarry Not to be outdone, Pheonix also kicked himself a goal! The boys were pre y chuffed to say the least! Jack Kain had many a empts at a goal and finally wobbled one through, safe to say he is definitely a defender! Good stuff Jacko. Best players sponsored by Alora Conveyancing were Riley Morgan, Pa rick Robinson, Luke Richards, Casey Wilson, Kai Gilmore and Zeb Chant. Massive challenge this week on our home deck against the top side Tantanoola. Good luck boys!
B Grade: Port MacDonnell 9.7 def Nangwarry 5.5. Last Saturday we headed to Nanga's for the start of a possible quinella. Let's face it. We are s ll a real dark horse in this compe on and if we keep up the winning streak, finals could be a very real possibility. The track (oval) was dry and in good condi on and with our stable already producing winners from our yearlings (both Jnr & Snr Colts) it was me for the old workhorses to have a go. At the sound of the bell, we were off and racing, but it was ght going into the first turn, and we were virtually neck and neck. It was gra fying to see some old greys ge ng amongst it, with Baz “C'mon Umpy!” O'Dine and solid galloper Chris “Please Explain” Driver back in the field and welcome cameos from Jake “Bintang” Turner, Blake Lynch and Liam Bo omley. Into the second with mistakes cos ng both sides dearly, tempers were star ng to flare over some of the stewards (umpires) decisions. The absence of training and fitness was again slowing the pace and the boys knew they would have to dig deep
for the final stretch. Coming up to the halfway mark it was s ll an even field as both teams kicked similar scores keeping the game on a ght rein. Ma “Immortal” Stark was our only mul ple goal scorer with a trifecta while Grady Hutchesson, Mason “Jar and Jug“ Brown, Ethan “Buzzcut” Perryman-Cary, Nathan Brotherton and Liam Bo omley had one apiece. We were held on the fence in the third quarter but managed to limit Nangwarry's chances at goal. The absence of training and fitness was again slowing the pace and the boys knew they would have to dig deep for the final stretch. A er coach Addy gave them the whip at third break, a mely save by Ma Stark going into the final turn, resul ng in a goal, started the momentum needed and we came home with a strong finish of 5.6 for the quarter. In a skillful run round the track and taking the ribbon (B.O G.) was odds on favorite Liam “Top That” Bo omley with Blake “In the Pinch” Lynch running a second. Despite being hemmed in by the stewards Ben “C'mon Umpy“ O'Dine found third while Grady “Palamino Boy” Hutchesson, Nathan “Crazy 88” Brotherton and Isaac “Back the Saac” Na rass placed 4th, 5th, and 6th respec vely. We'll be back in front of the home crowd this Saturday and another chance to make or break the top four… What sort of odds do we have of ge ng ALL the boys out to training? 100/1??... cmon Demons lets even the odds!
A Grade: Port MacDonnell 22.16 def Nangwarry 5.3. With the weather holding off nicely for us, we played in good condi ons at Nangwarry. Today the boys all wore black armbands for Port MacDonnell alumni, Brian “Stumpy” McNamee. He was a legend of our club, not only playing for but on the commi ee's as well during the postwar years of the 50's and 60's. A proud club man, we extend our deepest sympathies to his family. The scoreboard may have suggested we had a runaway game, but it was against some tough and determined opponents. It was good to see the training prac ces put to the test and the opportunity to tweak things where necessary as we now find ourselves in the home stretch of the season. There are things that can s ll be worked upon, disciplines to adhere to and strategies to try Our work is not over by a long shot, if anything our load has doubled! Tim Sullivan once again put in a solid game, winning the B.O G. with Ned Wilke in second. It's good to see him back on the ground a er being sidelined with a shoulder injury and increase our height through the midfield. Josh Woodall placed 3rd with a consistent performance while Kyall McClean, Kev Thomson and Colby Munro rounded out the list with their a ack on the ball from all quarters. Kevin Thomson kicked a handy bag of 7 goals with Alex Ridding earning 4 big ones himself. Tim Sullivan helped the scoreboard with 3 while Ethan Gladman, Colby Munro, Josh Woodall and Kyall McClean had two goals each. This week we play the Tantanoola Tigers and I'm sure they will have plenty of roar in the tank, but nothing beats the sound of a home crowd. Train hard to play hard Bay and let's take this Tiger by the tail! Go Demons!

Today we celebrate a massive milestone that is unlikely to be beaten as Tarrah Taylor takes to the court for her 450th senior game for Tantanoola! consis ng of 8 goals and heaps of scoring shots, the boys con nued to play the selfless brand of footy that has kept us undefeated to this point of the year and had another really solid win. Under 11: Last week we played Nangwarry, another great day by the young fellas, with each game pu ng in 110% I couldn't be happier! Best players were Rory - Fasta Pasta, Billy Brown - McDonalds and LawsonWendy's.
Junior Colts: Last week we played at home against Kalangadoo and came away with a good win. It's awesome to see all the kids from bo om age to top age all improving and growing in confidence. There's not a player on the ground that isn't giving their all and we are playing some good team football and myself and Jake couldn't be prouder. Best players could of went to so many but in no order they were Kaden, Grace, Jake, Summer, Jack and Zak. We are gonna start coming up against the top bigger sides in the next few weeks and are really excited for the challenge and to keep showing our improvement.
Senior Colts: Last week seen us host Kalangadoo at home. A er having a week off our boys were keen to start well and put the pressure on early A er a really strong first quarter
Reserves: Last round saw us playing Kalangadoo at a wet and windy home. Numbers and fitness proving again to be a factor and Kalangadoo ran away with a convincing win. Best player went to Zeke Courbois for his first game of the season playing a key defending role and rucking. Other best players were Jack Patzel (Gino's), Cam Patzel (Ampol voucher), Ky Wichman and James Batchelor
A Grade: A er a week off we played Kalangadoo at home in some wet and windy condi ons. The first quarter we started well kicking the first and a couple quick points going against the wind and making it hard for the opposi on to score. Again we ba led hard with great pressure and effort. We just unfortunately had a bad 10 minutes where we dropped off which allowed them to kick a few quick goals. The 2nd half we played some great footy and our numbers around the ball was fantas c from a young group up against a very big and experienced side, we did an excep onal job. To walk away losing by just over 30 points against a top 2 team and last year losing to the exact same side by almost 200 shows we have really turned things around and going in the right direc on. Good job boys great effort and let's keep learning from the top teams. Best players in no order - Cade Kelly (Ampol voucher), Brandon Pi s (Country Bar and Bistro), Brayden Reilly (New Haven Indian voucher), James Braun (Foodland) and Darcy Pink (Gino's).

Last week saw us travel to Robe for the annual trip up north. Some much be er weather up there greeted us as the rain stayed away and only some strong winds impacted the days play. We came away from the day with 3 out of 4 wins on the footy field, which is one of best results for the year. This week we welcome Mt Burr for our 2nd to last home game of the year. Our home game sponsor of the round is OGR. Thanks again to all our major sponsors. This week also marks the 200th Senior Game for Ben Hentschke. Ben does so much on and off the field for the club, congratula ons to Pie on his milestone.
Junior Colts: The Junior Colts got off to a great start last week and didn't look back a er quarter me. They con nued to dominate on the big ground against another finals opponent and are showing improvement every week. Their final margin was a 112-point win. The pick of the goal kickers was Tom Richards with 6, with the rest spread out. Best players were Kade Mulraney, Kallan Price, Tom Richards, Luke Medhurst and Sam Haase.
Senior Colts: The Senior Colts played one of their best games of the year and also came out of the blocks flying kicking the only 3 goals of the first quarter and shocking our hosts. The energy was up amongst the boys and they con nued to hold their lead and even improved upon it each quarter. The final margin was a 32point win against a very fancied opposi on. Best players were Lachlan Brierley,
B Grade: The Reserves s ll can't seem to get close to their full side together in the same week. But last week they played one their best games challenging the 3rd placed side and almost coming away with a win. The 7 senior colts that filled really provided a lot of the required energy and spark that we needed to get us going. The boys were hanging in there but were going against the breeze in the final term, so this didn't really help them. A 29-point loss in the end seemed a lot closer. Best players Tim Mutch, Bevan Lipscombe, James Kipping, Jayson Finnis, Bailey Rothall, and Mitch Li le.
A Grade: The Seniors played an excellent 4 quarter game and came away with a 1-point with over the much-fancied 3rd placed Robe side. The lads were behind by a couple of goals for most of the game, but with the breeze swirling around across the field and slightly to the stubby booth end it felt like anyone's game. At 3-quarter me we were down by 3 goals but were kicking with a lessened breeze in the final term. Robe got out to a 4-goal lead and we had a couple of blokes go down with injuries, it felt like the game was done at this stage. We ended up kicking 6 goals in the last term, including the last 4, with Dane Paproth being the hero kicking a set shot goal with about 30 seconds le . Best players were Brodie Glynn, Henry Smith, Patrick Mitchell, Tom Edwards, Zacc Cocks and Jack Edmonds.

Junior Colts: A really tough game for the boys last week but they played with a lot of heart and didn’t drop their heads down once. Mostyn has his best game s cking his head over the ball and giving the first op on. Eli also had a blinder se ng up a couple goal with some slick skills. Massive improvement from the boys all round and that’s being reflected in the score line each week.
Senior Colts: Last game we took on a strong Hatherleigh team and were desperate for the win to keep in touch with the finals race. For 95 percent of the game we achieved this but let ourselves down in the last five minutes which cost us the win and losing by 2 goals. As the boys know it was a step in the right direc on. Best players were Bradlee Lawson who had the ball on a string, Heath Johnston backed himself in all game, Rylan McKay led up hard all game, Caleb Carr ba led hard in the ruck and Deklan (Nugget) Brant rebounded hard out of defence.
Bazz and his son Kody playing together in the forward line in the final term. Best players were Ed Ballantyne, Braeden Thwaites. Jacob Gregory and DJ
A Grade: Last weekend saw us take on Hatherleigh at Mt Burr Another big match up and despite the loss, our boys could hold their heads high with the effort and heart shown. We spoke a er the game about small lapses that can prove costly and about the need to iron those lapses out and play strong 4 quarter football. With a big game again this week (Glencoe at Glencoe), we’ll need to be at our best. Best players were 1. Dyl Ridley whose work rate doesn’t go unno ced. Able to pick his way thru traffic and con nuously set us up going forward. 2. Josh Wallis who offered a great target again at CHF and played some good old fashioned tough football.
3. Jack Muhovics who was (again) dressed to impress before the game and followed up nicely on the field with another strong game.

B Grade: It is always tough playing Hatherleigh and Saturday proved to be no excep on. The boys had plenty of added reason to play well with Clint Bowering celebra ng his 200th senior game. Bazz has been a great club man and player for well over a decade. From the very first bounce it was clear that the opposi on had come to play and they kicked 6 unanswered goals in the first quarter. We responded and were much more compe ve in the second quarter but we couldn’t hit the scoreboard. The second half proved to be more of the same but credit to our boys, they kept on giving it their all. The highlight of the game was seeing
4. Ninja Muhovics with another old fashioned display of strong football, pu ng his head and body over the ball when required. 5. Andrew Ridley who was able to get his hands on the ball in ght situa ons and move the ball forward. Like Dylan, can move thru traffic as he likes. 6. Tay Allen with another great display of want and despera on. Racked up double figures in smothers and con nued throwing his body around.
Great job to everyone for ge ng around the purple sock round for Pancrea c Cancer, a great show of support and a great money raising ini a ve.

football club notes
We were greeted with blue skies and sunshine, which made for a nice change to previous weeks, although it didn't last the day out. Mixed results at Glencoe, write ups and awards as follows:
Under 11: The young Hawks travelled to Glencoe for a hard fought out game of football. Although it was a physical game, this did not stop the determina on and commitment to be the first at the ball. They con nued to look for their teammates, which resulted in every player being involved in the game.
Awards: Intersport - Mason Li le, Coaches Award - Jack Maidment, Rob & Amy Whi y Award - Toby Telford, Presidents Award - Jack McKenzie, Donut King - Harry Collins.
Junior Colts: It was a tough day at Glencoe. The Junior Colts tried their best but struggled against the much taller opponents. We will work on our movement skills at training and talk about how we bring those skills into game day. Awards: Lucas Family Award - Ryan Lucas, Aussie Disposals - Declan Richardson, SpotOn Fishing - Jacko Bald, Janeway Plumbing - Logan Cordy, Paradise Pizza - Blake Telford and Angus Maidment in sixth best.
Senior Colts: Boys started off well with a great first quarter coming into the first break with the lead. To Glencoe's credit, they made it a compe ve game from then on. Our inaccurate kicking is an area for us to work on but been pu ng some great patches of play together over the last couple of weeks, well done fellas. Awards: MT WheelsJack Aus n, Swallow Drive MeatsTyler Richardson, Mick Mullan Award - Marley McDonald, Coaches Award - Will Von Stanke, Badenoch's Deli - Ryan Taylor, with Bam Kent coming in at sixth best.
Reserves: Good to be back on the winners list a er a tough few weeks. With a long list of outs, the boys who put their hands up to play needed a big effort. Fortunately, the whole team stood up and contributed to a good victory Special men on to club legend Jenks for pulling on the boots and
showing he s ll is a class above. Also, to Cohen and Harrison for coming up from the colts and ge ng in amongst it. The win keeps us in the hunt, but a lot of work needs to be done to make it happen. Lastly to Bryce and Amanda for stepping up into important posi ons on the bench, we thank you for helping the boys out. Awards: Jacob ArthursonCommercial Hotel, Riley Maconachie - Collins Court Butchers, Dan Hann - Killara Food Court, Aaron Shepherd - Pick Ave Deli, John Simkin - Club Tea along with Sean Farrell. Great to see a new bloke to the Club put his hand up for umpiring too, well done Adam Pearce.
Seniors: Glencoe got off to a flying start in the first quarter, to which we had no answer, un l the second quarter where we had an awesome quarter of footy. Players were running from everywhere and being up and about, and consequently we managed to get back in the game only trailing by 3 points at half me. Glencoe then kicked away in the third, which seemed to be the scoring end. Coming into the last we started well, but unfortunately le the margin too big to play catch up. Boys ba led it out well, and special men on to the colts who stepped up for their first senior game, in Tyler Richardson and Ethan Williamson, the boys acqui ed themselves well and look forward to seeing more of them in ac on in the A's. Awards: Collins Court Butcher - Lennox Lewis, Commercial Hotel - Jake Whi y, Killara Food Centre - Ma Cordy, Club Tea (and with 5 goals for the day) - Cam Sandercock, Club TeaTyrone Rayner, Pick Ave Deli - Ethan Norman.
Kongorong Cup next week, make sure you stay back at the Club and buy a horse, and jump onto Eventbrite to purchase your ckets – limited number so don't be the one to miss out on the social event of the year.
Good luck to all football and netball teams as we take on Robe, and if you've put your hand up to help out in anyway, we thank you!

football club notes
Junior Colts: It has been a tricky, few weeks of footy for our boys; this week was no different. To their credit they have kept their heads up, persisted, and worked hard in our training sessions. They con nue to learn about the game and what it takes to be a team that consistently wins games. The boys have pride, are realis c and resilient and know that if they keep improving their skills, ability to concentrate, and be disciplined; things will turn around. At this point of the season, we o en find ourselves 'punching' above our height, age, and weight. This needs to be recognized when assessing the team's performance. I reckon we are going pre y well. People I speak with are proud of the quality and type of footy that the boys are producing. We can all see light at the end of the tunnel, and it's not a train. In rela on to last week's game; as the game developed, I believe we made the well drilled and skilled Glencoe boys more and more accountable, resul ng in a reasonably even last quarter; even though we didn't score. (if that makes sense). Our more consistent players were: John, Flynn, Conrad, Dylan, Spencer, and Eli. Our goal kicker was Conrad. Incen ve Award recipients were: Union Café: Spencer Aitken, Rosie's Award: John Hinchliffe, Robe Seafood and Take Away
'Nugget' Awards: Flynn Collins and Noah Maczckowiack. No one likes to see or have any player sustain a serious injury Unfortunately, in the second quarter Reid Johns suffered a
broken arm. This is disappoin ng for him and the team. We all wish Reid a comfortable, non-complicated recovery, and see him running laps as soon as possible, as well as helping mum and dad with jobs at home. This week the boys know that anything less than their personal best performance, for the whole game, will not be good enough. Have a red hot go boys!
A Grade: The injury curse s ll haunts our A Grade and this is star ng to impact upon the confidence of the playing group. The match against Glencoe was a hard slog and while the oval and condi ons were good neither team could get any flow on football. The majority of the match was played between both sides’ half back lines. Robe were unable to finish the match off and a dogged Glencoe snatched a one point victory to the disappointment of the Robe team. Laurie and Du on played excep onal football for Robe despite the close a en on off the ball and above their shoulders. Deane, Miller, Dunn, Wachtel and Robertson played well in patches. We look forward to injured players returning and ge ng our season back on track.

HATHERLEIGH vS NANGWARRY
The Eagles host the Saints this weekend at Hatherleigh. Nangwarry’s defensive line up of Kayla Gray and Chrystal Lock will work hard to shut down the influence of Demi Vanderhorst and Maddie Pulmer in the goal circle for the Eagles. Cassie Dinnison will lead the Saints through the court and will combine with Claire Ferguson to feed into goalies Hayley Vanderhorst and Tahlia Wilson. Maddie Redman and Elly redden are a strong defensive combina on for the Eagles and they will create turnovers in the circle, feeding the ball back down the court through Tegan Telfer and Erin Watson. Hatherleigh will come away with the win at the end of this game, however the Saints will fight hard for every possession.
PORT MACDONNELL VS TANTANOOLA
The Tigers head to Port MacDonnell this weekend to face off against the Demons. Port MacDonnell strong defensive combina on of Alysha Coon and Alana Berkefeld will work relessly in the circle and create issues for Tantanoola’s Keryl Ousey and Emma Gould. Down the other end of the court Megan Hein and Kori Collins will be fed well from outside of the circle by Liza Mutch and Shannon Scheidl. Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe fight hard to create turnovers and send the ball back down the court through Kate Varcoe and Casey Walker, who will feed into the Tant goalies with ease, using their height to their advantage. Port Mac’s defensive line up will make it hard to get the ball into the circle, ge ng hands over balls and crea ng intercepts wherever possible. A er a tough fought game Tantanoola will come away with the win.
GLENCOE VS MOUNT BURR
The Mozzies will be looking to come out this weekend against the Murphies at Glencoe. Mount Burr midcourters Laura Schultz and Ella Easterby combine well and feed their goalies, Lauren Wheeler and Ebony Clark, with ease from outside the circle. Glencoe’s Chelsea Owen and Sarah Edwards will fight hard to create turnovers, chasing up loose balls before feeding them back down the court, guided by Donna Jaeschke. Jenna Paproth and Chantelle Cocks are both accurate goalies and will convert many turnovers sent their way from the defensive end, however they will be under pressure from Mount Burr’s Madi Hagge and Olivia Dean. This game has the poten al to be a close one, however Glencoe will finish the day with the points.
KONGORONG VS ROBE
Kongorong host the Roosters this weekend, with the Hawks coming off the bye in round 14. Robe’s Tori Gluyas and Sarah Laurie have been combining well in the goal circle, moving and shoo ng with ease. The Hawks defenders Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody will fight relessly, snatching up any loose balls and rebounds they can, before working the ball back down the court through Kate Wright and Rachel Perry. Down the other end of the court Tilah Buckingham and Evie Sealey will move well together, shoo ng with accuracy, however the pressure of Emma Grant and Georgia Perkins may prove to be too much for the young goalies. This game will likely end in Robe’s favour however the Hawks won’t let the win go without a tough ba le.
NETball club notes
Junior 2: No notes supplied. Awards: Addison Lowe (Daisy Sun the Label), Emma McGrath (HLC), Maggie Ma hews (Macca's Mt Gambier).
Junior 1: Great pressure today defensively, its posi ve to see us start having a go at using our outside arm to a ack the ball. Let's keep working on recovering quickly and ge ng those hands up. All goalies shot well today and are using great technique. Even though it was wet and slippery, we worked hard, and we chased down the loose balls – although at mes our footwork let us down. We need to keep working on finding the front posi on and crea ng space for each other, rather than asking for the ball over the top. Awards: Leyla Marshall (Dentons Sportspower), Violet Fitzgerald (Dentons Sportspower), Leila Schmidt (Toy Kingdom), Arabella Hassell (HLC).
13 & Under: Hatherleigh (40) def by Mt Burr (43). Unfortunately, today was not our day
Due to illness and absence, we were restricted to the changes we could make which limited our flexibility. Regardless of what posi on you play you need to work hard to bring 100% and play with intensity
Our game is never going to be perfect, however, when we make a mistake, we need to learn and grow from them – to change it for the next me. We had some great passages of play, however, just didn't capitalise on every opportunity. Today our passing was our biggest downfall; we will regroup and con nue to build on our skills each week. This will only get be er though it you a end training regularly. Thank you to Kirby and Arrabella for taking the court today at such short no ce you both worked very hard. Awards: Livvi Faulkner (Corner Clip), Chloe David (HLC), Tilly Prouse (Denton's Sportspower).

B Reserve: Hatherleigh (22) def by Mt Burr (47). It just wasn't our day today and one we will put behind us and learn from. Injury and illness s ll play havoc on our team. We had combina ons and players playing out of posi on today which was challenging against a compe ve side. Though we had some great passages of play and got hands to the ball crea ng turnovers we were unable to score consistently. Thank you to Jess Bowman for pu ng on a dress today to help us out at such short no ce. Hopefully with a half game under your belt and dus ng off the cobwebs you pull up okay tomorrow. Let's pickup the intensity, commit to trainings and enjoy the run home to finals. We would like to make men on and give a big thank you to the ladies that turn up each week to help us out. Raelene Smith our ever-reliable scorer, Jo Murray and Billie Bellinger who share the roles of primary carer and mekeeper and Di Loveday stats writer, budget writer, best player picker. We certainly appreciate the me you give and the love and support. As a team we cannot thank you enough. Awards: Nicole Thomas (Somerset Hotel), Amy Haines (Gino's Pizza).
B Grade: Hatherleigh (52) def Mt Burr (15). It was a happy day on court for our B grade girls today playing Mt Burr on their home court, with Coach Nat spreading happiness and posi ve vibes amongst the team. The girls took the vibe and ran with it ensuring a strong start to the first quarter. Our goalies Eliza (GS) and Ellie (GA) played a stellar game together, both shoo ng excep onally and pu ng the team in a great posi on at the end of the first quarter with an 11-goal lead. Our mid-court game play was well organised today and the team seemed se led in both their a acking and defensive games. Jas in C and Meg in WA made sure the ball made it the goalies safely, finding the gaps and execu ng prac ced plays well supported by our defence players in Ella (GD) and Demi (WD). Both these girls con nued to put pressure on the opposi on with a water ght defence, at mes leaving li le opportuni es for Mount Burr to move the ball around the
court and taking some impressive intercepts. Lost scoring opportuni es from the Burr throughout the first half of the game allowed Hatherleigh to con nue their first quarter form resul ng in a further extension in the margin at half me to be fi een goals up at half me. Georgia played a great game in the GK posi on, applying further pressure in the opposi ons goal circle and capitalising on rebounds supported by Ella crea ng turn overs and scoring opportuni es for Hatherleigh on the opposi ons centre passes. A nasty fall by Ellie just before the half me whistle had her come off due to the blood rule and Hayley took the GA posi on for the rest of the quarter. Hayley slo ed in seamlessly and maintained momentum. The interrup on did not deter Hatherleigh to con nue their impressive form. Ellie was back at the start of the third quarter and with Eliza con nued to put points on the board. Changes at half me brough Sophie on in GK, Hayley displayed her diversity and adaptability coming on in WA. Sophie provided a solid performance con nuing the pressure on Mt Burrs goalies, with Jas in C again impressing us with another full thro le game from beginning to end. Our girls did us proud with their performance today, consistently domina ng throughout the game and walking away with the win 52-15. Well done to the B grade girls! Thank you to our ever-reliable scorer Sarah Eccles-Smith. Awards: Ellie Cook (Somerset Hotel), Jasmyne Bellinger (Gino's Pizza), Demi Jones (Gino's Pizza).
A Reserve: Hatherleigh (38) def by Mt Burr (40). An ordinary day – weather wise, slippery courts and just one of those days that didn't go our way. Let's not dwell on today, lets put it behind us and work to ge ng back our mojo that we had a few weeks back. I know that with two of our most experienced players out, we have had to change combina ons and we just need to con nue to work hard at those. I thought we had some good passages of play and created 35 turnovers (all over the court) which is awesome, but we only managed to convert 15 of those turnovers into goals. At mes we only had one player coming at the ball and not fully front on to receive the pass. A few things we need to keep working on and it will turn around to some wins again. A big thank you to Niah and Eliza for si ng on the bench in the cold and wet again today, really appreciate what you do for our team. Thanks to Liv for primary carer, was plenty to do this week and Grace for scoring. Congratula ons Sarah Broadhead on your engagement! Awards: Sarah Broadhead (Gino's Pizza), Cate Sullivan (Somerset Hotel), Abby Wight (All Seasons Beauty and Hire ou its).
A Grade: Hatherleigh (41) def Mt Burr (31). We finally had a full line up this week but with the girls being apprehensive about the slipperiness of the court saw us star ng slow but as we hit the second quarter the court was mostly dry, and the girls hit their straps to have a nine-goal turn-around. Mads Pulmer had a physical day but with some grit and determina on saw her having a great day, the combina on between her and Demi is growing every week, Dem being ever reliable with great movement and nice shoo ng against a tough opponent. Rosie yet again a super consistent game with her confidence to release into the goalies on point. Erin always puts in the hard yards with another great game being a great support and crea ng opportuni es whether in a ack or defence. Lara never gives less than 110% and today her work rate was not less with great pressure and working it out of defence. Elly played a great game trying to perfect a few things and she got some great hands to balls combining well with Mads R. I have asked Mads to step out of her comfort zone and she did that really well today hopefully giving her confidence to carry on! Tegan came on at half me showing great intensity and worked hard on transi ons out. Another great team effort to con nue to give ourselves every opportunity for a finals campaign. Thanks to Marie for scoring, Liv for doing stats and primary caring and Im for si ng bench. Awards: Maddie Redman (Somerset Hotel), Team (Gino's Pizza), Players Player – Maddie Redman.

Junior 1: A really great game today girls. Everyone played really well back to where we were a few weeks back. You all moved well and didn't crowd as much and passed quickly to the lead. Just got to remember to pass in front of your player to where they are running. We had a good swap around and no ma er where you were put everyone tried really hard and never gave up, its great to see you all enjoying it. Keep up the good work this week. Best Harper and Aubrey.
13 & Under: Bad luck guys on another tough game, it's not easy when we never have our full team! Thank you Asha for stepping up and running a whole game in centre for us! Best players went to James and Ruby for working hard in defence and ge ng plenty of intercepts, with Lucy receiving the award for figh ng hard all game.
15 & Under: We again con nued to struggle in this second half of the season a er a brilliant first half. At training we will con nue to work on ge ng in front of our players and passing to space. Our second and third quarters were great and we were only outscored by a few goals. Holly, Skye and Kiara had a great game in defence. Holly con nues to improves and is pleasing to see. Kiara
drove and passed well. Skye received many intercepts and applied intense pressure to create turnovers. Skye received BP Dohnt award.
17 & Under: First of all. Thank you to all 4 15s girls that took the court for us! I appreciate you all pu ng in 100%. Secondly, what a great game to all of you. All I asked from you all is to see you give it your all and to see improvement from the first round and we saw that this game. With 4 games le equally as tough let’s just make sure we are giving it our all and finish the season enjoying ourselves. Best players Kiara Epiha and Maddison Mitchell
B Reserve: A much be er game of netball this week, but sadly s ll missing a few of our girls. A massive thank you to Emily and Maddison Timms who stepped up today. We need to remember we may not be winning games but If we are improving our own game of netball each week then that is our win. All girls had such posi ve plays throughout all the game, everyone worked alot be er and I feel like heads were not being dropped. Well done to best player Davina running our C you made strong clear leads helping throughout the game.
B Grade: A big thank you to Chloe for coaching on Saturday at the last minute I appreciate it. Thank you to the girls too for understanding. Ellie, Zoe and Amelia worked hard all game to apply great defensive pressure crea ng many turnovers. Shandeen and Giorja moved really well in the circle together against some tough defenders. Alisha and Montana had some really good passages of play down the midcourt and had some beau ful passing into the goal circle.
A Reserve: We had some really good patches of play today and transi oned down court well. When we were pa ent and met the ball it worked well. A ack all combining well together. Defence as always worked over me and got some really good intercepts. A ack bought ball down well, but some passing errors that let us down at mes. S ll a posi ve game girls with some good patches. Hope Teresa has a speedy recovery. Thanks to juniors Kaitlin and Keira and also Montana for filling in. Best players Bri and Tamara.
A Grade: Well when we thought we may not of got a team together this week we did quite well considering all the team changes. Thanks to everyone that put their hand up to help A Grade fill a side. We started a bit slow, it took us a while to se le in together but we did and started to combine well. We had some really great moments and when we moved ball around and met it were hard to beat in a ack. Defence worked hard all game ge ng some good intercepts and rebounds from a good goalie combina on. We struggled to bring ball down at mes but worked over me to get there. Was a great effort everyone keep it up. Best Claire and Cassie.

Junior 2: Well done girls on a really good effort today. It was great to have our full team back & it is so pleasing to see how far you've all come so far this season. Passing was a lot be er today - we were hi ng our targets beau fully. We s ll need to work on spreading out more & not being those “seagulls to a hot chip”. I'm so proud of you all - let's keep pushing & finish off our season strongly. Imogen was back from her holiday & came in & played a terrific game - she earned herself the Bakers Delight award. Des ny also had a great game with a couple of goals - she was awarded the Subway voucher. Well done girls!
Junior 1: The girls played an awesome game today. Improving so much as a team. Thank you to Subway, our sponsor. Awards went to Torah and Emily
13 & Under: Nangwarry 11 defeated by Port MacDonnell 34. It took the girls most of the first quarter to se le their nerves, stepping was a huge factor throughout the whole game, making the defence end work tremendously hard. We welcomed back Mia Spehr from holidays who helped the team when working on pulling down the ball with two hands and ge ng plenty of clean intercepts and rebounds, well done defensive side. The a ack side treasured many of our turn arounds. Evie Jones & Kasey McLean shot some amazing long bombs. Just need to work on consistency thought the whole court! Great game girls! Awards: Lily Whan (McDonalds), Addison Smith (Subway), Daisee Stanley (Boost), Evie Jones (Subway).
15 & Under: Nangwarry 30 defeated by Port MacDonnell 58. Another great game by all, everyone pushed each other, backed one another, and encouraged each other which was great to hear and see. We had a lot of different changes today on the court and everyone put in 110% that was asked of them and if they weren't sure what to do, they gave it a red hot crack anyway. We had some great transi on down the court and we had some great touches as well. When the girls realised something wasn't working, they came in and spoke about it then changed it up straight away. It's great to see that the girls are really listening at training and pu ng the things we learn and do at trainings in our game on Saturdays. There is s ll a li le bit to work on such as our passes and fakes down the court but our footwork improved today and we all found our voices which was great. Everybody had a great game today and seemed to really enjoy the game. Lots of big, happy smiles and laughing on and off the court, which is a great look from the sidelines. Great game by all. Awards: Layla McPherson (Arena), Jasmine Morgan (Bakers Delight).
17 & Under: Nangwarry 32 defeated by Port MacDonnell 63. Some slightly warmer weather this week meant that our girls could really focus on our skills in the absence of the normally present wind and rain. Lillie Lamb combined well in goals with both Lara Wilson and Lilly Day, holding strong in front all day and adjus ng her game according to her defenders. Stevie Collins ran through the centre this week, bringing her reless defensive effort further up the court. Ruby Moody started in WD and got countless hands to balls and then combined well with Bridie McPherson defensively in the circle during the second half to get her team even more stops with the extra space heading backwards. A great team effort saw our girls get the win this week, a result of a strong week of game prepara on and a hard training. Next week will test the girls in a 2v3 face off against Tantanoola, likely to determine which team gets a second chance finals posi on. Awards: Lillie Lamb (Fasta Pasta), Ruby Moody (Subway).
B Reserve: Nangwarry 10 defeated by Port MacDonnell 66. Everyone kept pushing their efforts through the whole game. Finishing off strong in the last quarter was great to see. We also worked the ball in close to the ring which ensured us to finish off. This was really well done by all players. Our driving was good out of defence and Salem worked relessly through the middle. The key for our games is to keep being aware of the ball and each other's movements. It allows us to balance the court and not go into each other's space. Well done. Amber Moulden & Brooklyn Jones received our sponsor awardsVictoria Hotel Shipwreck Bistro, Chemist King and F45 Mt Gambier
B Grade: Nangwarry 19 defeated by Port MacDonnell 64. It was a strong and impressive start to our game. Everyone worked hard to establish posi ons, did their job and turned ball over. The court was well balanced and everyone did their preliminary work to gain and maintain possession. Across all four quarters, we consistently maintained pressure across the court and we were rewarded for our efforts with our turnovers. We treasured the ball and used it to our advantage around circle edge, finding the post. Our transi ons down court were well med and impressive to watch. A solid four quarters played by all. Each combina on worked relessly together and was supported by the defensive pressure. We had some really good passages of play which look spectacular. Awards: Deanne Spencer (Shipwreck Bistro, Victoria Hotel Port MacDonnell), Jess Grigg (Birdie Blue).
A Reserve: Nangwarry 22 defeated by Port MacDonnell 69. Solid game today girls, we went out hard and played 4 consistent quarters. Our defensive pressure all over the court was awesome with everyone working over me and ge ng many touches. Our passages of play down the court seemed to flow a lot more smoothly today and open plays. The next few weeks are going to be tough for us, so we definitely need to keep working hard at training and ensuring we all switch on come Saturdays. We've worked hard all season, with some up's and down's, but we need to not drop the ball now, so close to finals. Awards: Nic Collins (Victoria Hotel), Cody Manning (Kirralie Jade).
A Grade: Nangwarry 20 defeated by Port MacDonnell 84. It was so nice today to sit back and watch the netball I know you can all play individually and as a team. Today's game was completely different to last week's, which was so nice to watch. I set you all a team goal today and you all stepped up to the plate, not only was it awesome to achieve what we set out to achieve but it also showed we can play 4 consistent quarters. I do believe today was a team effort, everyone gave 100% and ran out the game with the same intensity as we started. Today saw some players play posi ons they haven't played before this season and OMG they didn't disappoint, I am so proud that those players took the new posi on with open minds and gave 100% commitment - it was like they've played those posi ons all year. Our defensive pressure all over the court was awesome, everyone ensuring hands up over the ball and having a crack to try and get a turnover. Our transi on down the court from defence to a ack seemed to flow a lot easier and looked like we had heaps of space on court. Overall, it was an awesome game to watch and I hope it felt as good playing as it did to watch. We do need to keep pushing hard right to the end of the season, we've got 3 games le , so let's all work hard and play the netball I know we can all play. Awards: Team effort, and Megan Hein, sponsored by Hy Cra Cabinets (Victoria Hotel), Kori Collins sponsored by Chris Patzel (Grantville Court Butcher).

NETball club notes
Junior 2: With a few weeks of having numbers down, it was great to have a full team again! We were lucky to have the rain stay away in our first game & although the court was wet, you all worked hard to chase loose balls & had minimal errors while bringing the ball down to score. Just need to remember we cant pass into hands, but very nice work girls! Tiger Cubs came back out to play, but was cut short when the temp dropped and the rain decided to come in! Girls you did so well! There was minimal crowding around the ball and you all remembered your posi ons! There was some excellent defending and even intercepts. Keep up the great work girls! Awards went to Millie, your first year of netball and you're reading the play so well, great intercepts and passing decisions. Polly, you had some great intercepts and lead for the ball, great work!
Junior 1: Of the last 6 games our girls have only played 3 matches (byes, cancella on of games). In addi on there have been a few trainings due to sickness, injury, players unavailable and holidays. Unfortunately this resulted in many 'forge ng' what we have been working on and thus slipping into old, bad habits. On a posi ve note it was pleasing that the girls con nued to give their best efforts throughout the game. Awards to Stella Peters (Fasta Pasta) and Zahli (Donut King) with Nyree not far behind.
13 & Under: A tough game today against Kalangadoo who are undefeated & top of the ladder The girls played their game & prac ced cu ng in front & shoulder passes which we have been working on at training. Awards went to Emie at GD & Tamika at GK this week for working amazing together in defence, crea ng great pressure & many turnovers.
15 & Under: Who would have thought we would need fill in's with 10 players. Thank you to Molly & Tamika for helping us out today. I was pleased to see our a ack work hard to get the ball & put things that we prac ced at trainings into our game. Our defence had a hard game but kept working ll the end. Ebony received Player of the Round for her consistent a acking & posi oning on the ring all game. Isla had a great game in defence pping lots of balls & s cking ght (Denton's Award). Isabel is star ng to hold her player & move in the ring really well (Donut King).
17 & Under: A good win from the girls a er a week off. More wintery condi ons to adjust to but
everyone stood up and played their role. Defensively, we won lots of ball and it was so good to watch. Our transi on down court is developing each week and everyone is pu ng in the extra work. Our a ack line is also growing. We worked hard and were pa ent around the circle before feeding in. A big thank you to Beth's who sat on our bench this week. This weeks best players went to Molly Cushion and Demi Bevan.
B Reserve: Bad luck guys, this was a winable game needed for us. Wasn't meant to be. I know we can play be er, let's regroup this week and come out like the winning team I know you are and are capable of!! Best players: Jade White and Leah Kuiper
B Grade: Saturdays game was a tough one and our girls knew this going in. The weather wasn't our friend but we persevered and pushed through the rain. The girls came out strong and worked hard keeping the score even at 6 all. Unfortunately Kalangadoo were too good and capitalised on our mistakes. Indianna Marshall got best with Lima and Co voucher and Sally Peters second with a Millicent Sports Power
A Reserve: Both teams come out strong in the first quarter. There were a few unforced errors from both sides. Tantanoola found themselves having to chase down from the first break. Goalers Shelby and Bianca were making the defenders having to work for any possession. They were well supported by Krystal in WA, Dakota in C and Madi in WD. Lucy at GK and Michelle in GD worked relessly cleaning up any loose ball. Another great game of working as a posi ve respec ul team together. Best: Bianca - Lima and Co and Dakota - Chelsea Feast Make up.
A Grade: Pleasing to see a much more consistent performance over four quarters, something that we have working on. We are con nuing to work on looking a er our possessions and keep improving each week. Keryl (F45) provided a strong op on, whilst moving and making good posi on with Emma. Kate V (Sassi) provided op ons throughout the game and took some mely intercepts along with Casey. Tayla and Kate li ed it up a notch, par cularly in the last quarter, taking some chances on intercepts. We need to con nue to work hard defensively all over the court. Thanks once again to each and every one of our support team.

Junior 2: Awesome effort from everyone today! You all listened, adjusted and made fantas c leads in front of your players which is what we needed to work on and prac ce. Bella and Billy, you two worked great in goals together with lots of rebounds and use of the circle. Ruby O and Indianna you two kept trying for the rebounds and kept on your toes. Charlo e, Paige and Ruby J, you three drove hard all game and took lots of intercepts. Encouragement this week went to Bella, your shoo ng technique was perfect and OMG it was so great to see you catching the ball this week, you should be very proud of yourself! Best player this week went to Charlo e (LICO Pty Ltd), lots and lots of touches and intercepts and great driving all game. Amazing effort by everyone.
Junior 1: Best players went to Charlo e (Metalworx) and Shelby
13 & Under: Great game today girls. Our defensive pressure all down the court was fantas c and resulted in numerous turnovers from everyone. The windy condi ons meant there were plenty of loose balls to chase up and you backed each other up well. The posi ve talk and encouragement we could hear on the court was great and it showed how well you can all work together as a team. A er gaining a substan al lead we changed up posi ons in the last quarter and it was great to see everyone adapt and really have some fun! First best went to Annabelle for a solid game at WA (Dycer Construc on). She fed well into the circle and showed control when needed. Second best went to Gracie for her many deflec ons and intercepts in the circle and an excellent quarter at WA. Third best went to Layla who ran hard all day, helped to control the play and fought hard for every ball. Thank you to Jaylee and Charlo e for filling in. It's going to be a tougher game today so let's go out strong and play as a team.
15 & Under: Great game today girls. You all applied great defensive pressure down the court with many intercepts, backing up each other and great team talk on the court. Each individual game today seen growth and development. Our shooters moved well and had confidence in each other with each shot taken. Mid court had many great hands over balls with some incredible defensive pressure. Picking best was hard today but, best went to Amelie Cary (Maloney Plumbing) who had great vision for intercept, feet s ll during defending and hunger for the ball. Second best went to Chloe Childs (Biggins Family) who moved well in the goal ring and outside crea ng drive and space in the circle, while also talking and showing leadership. Awesome effort today by all.
17 & Under: Great to see everyone's focus on what we work on at training and growing each week. Close games are a theme for us this season that's for sure! Consistent defensive pressure from everyone was again brilliant all game. As was the drive into a ack from Giaan, Zoe and Kayla. Kayla and Caitlin gave their all making their players work hard for everything and grabbed some rebounds too. Lilly,
Alyssa and Montana combined well and your teamwork meant we came away with another great win. Best player was Caitlin (Degaris Lawyers) and second Kayla.
B Reserve: Bad luck girls! Our overall team game improved this week and there was a lot more posi vity on court which was great to see. A er a bit of a slow start, and a tough me with our accuracy, we kept right with Robe even gaining a couple on them in the third quarter a er a couple of changes. It was very ght going into the last, however we run out of steam and end up going down by 10. Best player went to Alarna (Key2Sale) for a great game in WA, being a consistent and reliable op on. Second went to Jorja for her turn in both GA and GD, transi oning seamlessly from end to end. Let's con nue our posi vity and try to keep up the energy right through to the end.
B Grade: 38-35. A great win girls! It was always going to be a tough ba le but I was very happy with our solid 4 quarter effort. Everyone fought hard the en re game! With a full team back and ready to go we are needing to figure out different combina ons and posi ons but everything gelled quite well. Best players went to Amy (24/7 Car and Dog Wash) and April for ge ng lots of touches and turnovers.
A Reserve: Bad luck girls – we always knew it was going to be a tough one –especially when we were a few players down. Defensively we had a fantas c game and were right with them all the way. 100% improvement on our centre passes this week – great job Abbie and Laura. Unfortunately a tough day in the circle, but well done for our persistence and pa ence feeding in –we tried different combos and kept switching it up, so that's the main thing. Well done to Sammy, you fought hard all day and got lots of touches and intercepts to give us every chance we could. Excellent working in the circle Tameka and Jessie – great rebounds and were working your switches well. Great driving down the court Jorja, we can see your confidence growing each week. Best was Sammy (B&P Travel and Cruise). Second Jessie.
A Grade: A disappoin ng result for us in the end. The umpiring was completely different to what we have experienced so far and we were unable to recognise that and adjust our game within the first quarter which had as on the back foot for the en re game. We did have some good passages of play which brought back the margin at mes but we were unable to play consistent and safe netball. Defence did have some good wins and contested lots of balls. I con nue to talk about mee ng the ball strongly, making smart decisions and not pu ng one another under too much pressure and again these are things to focus on coming from our game against Robe. We can't con nue to keep making these same errors. Lots of tough games to come for the remainder of the season so let's focus on our individual and team improvement and come out hungrier this week. Best player: Sarah Edwards (O'Brien Electrical).

A big shout to everyone that contributed in some way to put on another amazing sponsors day for all of the sponsors, patrons and life members that have kindly supported our club throughout the 2023 season. We value and appreciate each and every one of you. Your support is not something we ever take for granted and our annual sponsors day is our small way of saying thank you to those that could a end. Throughout the year we encourage all of our club members, players and wider spor ng community to support our sponsors whenever they can. With our sponsors ongoing support our main goal of resurfacing our netball courts is becoming a reachable target. So thank you once again to everyone that made food, helped with the set up and to everyone that came along Saturday it was great to see you all.
Junior 2: What a fantas c game, you all should be so proud. Our defensive pressure was the highlight, crea ng turnovers and chasing up loose balls. Our a acking end worked hard, using loud voices and had confident passing. We just need to work on ge ng in front of our players and crea ng space. It was very evenly matched which was great to see and a perfect game for the Pancrea c Cancer round. The Fasta Pasta award went to Sienna, who never gave up on either end of the court and used her speed to create strong leads to the ball. The Millicent Toy Kingdom award went to Grace, who played a great game in defence, crea ng turnovers and reading the ball to take intercepts.
Junior 1: Last Saturday's game against Hatherleigh saw us up against much taller opposi on which meant we had to focus on coming front to the ball. It was a great team effort by everyone and your determina on to chase up lost balls was amazing! Well done girls. Awards went to Poppy (Sportspower) for her great movement and accuracy in goals and Indi (Donut King) for her great pa ence and control of the ball in the mid court. Thanks to Macy for umpiring and Sarah for scoring.
13 & Under: Wow wow, so proud of my li le Mozzies. What a game from everyone, and everyone played their role in this win. Great shoo ng from Sophie and Emily, working together well in the circle and fantas c rebounding. Great support from Courtney and Alice around the circle, great to see your awareness around the circle of each other and strong passing into our goalies. Great defensive pressure from Isabelle and Hope crea ng many turnovers. Also bring the ball down the court out of defensive is improving each week. Hannah and Jessica put lots of pressure on the centre passes and got hands to many balls. Also, our footwork in any condi ons has come along in leap and bounds from everyone. Great game girls. Thanks to Sarah for scoring, Zoe for ming and Simone for umpiring. Awards went to Jessica – Subway and Isabelle – Wendys.
17 & Under: A good win with some great posi ves to take away from the game. You once again showed versi lity with Tilly having a stella game at GD and then switching to GA to complement Jemma at GS. Ash and Jem had a great connec on in goals and adap ng to 4 players in Olivia, Oliviah, Ella and Abbey rota ng through the C/WA posi on. Abbey and Olivia were a nuisance for the other team, making deflec ons and taking intercep ons. You backed each other up and made sure the defensive pressure was stong to "clog up" the centre corridor when the ball came out of our a ack line. Oliviah is always a strong presence on the line and presents well
when required at the line. Macy and Makaylah played well in D with Makaylah using vision and an cipa ng the play to create turnovers. Macy took control coming out of D, driving strongly to create opportuni es with the ball going into a ack. You played well as a team and quickly contributed to the game. Congratula ons to Jemma for winning the since 56 award and Makaylah for winning the Zombrero award. Thanks Kelly for scoring and Wendy for ming Thanks also for being part of the "purple round" for pancrea c cancer. A great cause dear to our heart.
B Reserve: Well done girls, I knew we could play so much be er against Hatherleigh then we did last me we played. We came out firing right from the start and played strong 4 consistent quarters. We as a team support each other on and off the court. I made changes through out the game and everyone has fantas c support and faith in each other when those changes are made. Great job to the leaders on the court suppor ng our young mozzies and your posi ve communica on to those girls, is great to see from me on the sidelines. It makes such a big difference when all of us play controlled and focus netball and keep our heads up when the pressure is on. Great job girls. Thanks to April for scoring, Zoe for ming and Lisa for umpiring. Awards went to Ava – Sassi and Dawn –Muffin Break.
B Grade: Yesterday we played in wet condi ons against a very consistent side. Our first quarter was our best quarter with everyone giving it 100 %. We worked as a team in defence resul ng in many hands to balls and rebounds. Our mid court used their pa ence when feeding into the goal circle, allowing our goalies to be er posi on themselves under the ring. We s ll need to remember our prelims to allow the ball to best transi on down court and clearing space when it's crowded. Awards went to Madi Bowering who worked hard in GA and Stacy Lowndes who played 4 solid quarters no ma er what posi on she played. Thanks to Leah for umpiring and Karen for scoring and Sophie me keeping.
A Reserve: What a fantas c game to watch and to come out with the win. You worked relessly for all four quarters, a much be er game than in round one against Hatherleigh. You dug deep and controlled the play when you needed too. Leila and Maddi worked hard in defence crea ng many turn overs and working the ball out of defence. Alisha played a ripper game in WD you stopped your players drive to the circle and hands over the pass put extra pressure on them ge ng it into their goalies. Lilly, Heidi and Abbey worked the ball down the court, and your defensive pressure was at 100% today. Moving the ball round the circle crea ng extra opportuni es for our goalies. Maddi and Jaz worked hard in Goals, working hard to get in the best posi on to take the shot and also being strong and ge ng rebounds against a tall, ght defence. Thanks Macy for si ng bench, Mandy for umpiring and Amber and Kelly for ming and scoring du es. Awards: Since Fi y Six - Alisha, Zamberos - Jasmine.
A Grade: We knew this game was going to be a tough one and we needed to be strong from the get go. The girls did just that. Crea ng turnovers and scoring at all opportuni es, ending the first quarter up by a few goals. Hatherleigh came out strong in the second quarter, taking advantage of our errors. With them coming away at half me with a great lead. Our third and final quarters were strong yet again, despite the wild weather. But the lead Hatherleigh took in the second quarter was too great and we were unable to come back. Best players for the week were Madi Hagge and Laura Schultz. Rewarding turnovers and accuracy are things we need to work on ahead of the Glencoe game.

NETball club notes
Junior 2: Well done today girls a seriously great game. Everyone stepped it up a notch with some awesome passages of play in every quarter. Defensively we were on fire. There was also lots of leading to the ball and hard chase when there was a loose ball. No individual awards today as it was a great overall team effort.
13 & Under: Hard game today girls. You tried hard with everything we asked you to have a go at. The rain didn't make it easy to catch the ball but you didn't give up. Paige did great running through the centre, Lily did well having a go at a new posi on. Meeka & Sophie working hard to get posi on. Ashleigh, Zayley playing their part. Havi really did a great job talking to and helping the new gaolies. Awards today went to Paige (Badenoch Deli), Sophie ($10 dona on).
15 & Under: Wow! What a fantas c game! Our first quarter we came out firing! Very smart plays down the court, some mes rushed but we pulled it out making smooth passes into our goalies. 2nd and 3rd quarters we had a fight on our hands, neck and neck in score it was anyones game. Unfortunately didn't make it in the end but we outplayed the opposi on. Everyone’s effort was superb and very proud of the progress you girls have made this season. Best players go to Ruby Carrigan (Chemist King) with her awesome defence touches and Demi Jennings (Badenochs) with her awesome netball brain, making space and on point passes.
17 & Under: What a compe ve game that was! Only down by 2 goals at full me. The first three quarters it was great to see some strong passages of play and everyone giving 100% down the court, unfortunately once the rain picked up, we started to drop our heads and passes became rushed. Whilst we didn't get the win today, we didn't go down without a fight. Awards went to Evie Sealey (Fasta Pasta) and Kyla Gordon (She's Apples).
B Reserve: Great win against Glencoe girls. You all fought hard for the whole 4 quarters and worked really well as a team.
Courtney, Jordy & Becky worked well in the goal ring with lots of great shots for the day. Tamika and Zoe were strong in defence and were able to get mul ple turnovers which we were able to
convert into a goal our end. Marnee, Scout & Julie ran well all game through the centre court. It was great to see you all working as a team and our space and passing were good today. Awards went to Zoe who played an absolutely fantas c game in GD (Periwinkles) and Marnee who fought hard all day and got mul ple intercep ons for the game (Kirralie Jade Makeup and Laser).
B Grade: A bit of a hard loss today a er a strong start. The girls started well with fantas c work at both ends of the court. Jas and Jess were strong in the goal circle, ably supported by Milla and Brielle… and Maddie playing in a ack very strongly in the final quarter. Our defensive game was strong and the girls had their work cut out for them. Macy, Lyl, Mads and Sarah all did a wonderful job against a ght Glencoe a ack. Li le errors are our undoing at the moment and even with all the good work we do, it was enough for Glencoe to maintain and grow their lead. Enjoy the bye girls – ready for a brilliant run to the end of the season! Best players were Jas Poel and Lyl Page (Evolve).
A Reserve: Fantas c game today! Lost by 6 but great pressure all done the court. One of the more cohesive games our team has seen this season. Today we seen great transi on with possession netball play down the court from defence to a ack. Cohesion in a ack throughout the whole game seen Sam Fox and Kaylah Farrell put away some great shots, fed from Zara VonStanke and Ebony Mcloughlin. A huge amount of turn overs with illusive space pressure in the defence from Heidi Finnigan and Georgia Bald. Best players today goes to Kaylah Farrell receiving the Commercial Hotel Voucher, & Heidi Finnigan receiving an F45 voucher
A Grade: Bad luck girls. Once again effort was high today, and defensive pressure was a highlight of the game. We didn't drop our heads and had a consistent four quarters, which was good to see!We are capable of playing hard working, compe ve netball but it's up to us to keep each other accountable and pull through for the team. Big thank you to Kaylah for playing the last 2 weeks and the other A Res girls for si ng bench while Tilah and Riley have been away. Best on went to Evie Sealey and Emily Lightbody

A Grade: Robe 46 def Glencoe 38. What a great team game! Our defensive pressure and want for the ball was phenomenal. Everyone gave 100% for the whole game. Each player stepped up and played with confidence when it started to get rough. Lucy had a boomer at WAplaying with confidence and driving hard - coming away with the Calcu a (Steve's Place). Sarah stepped up, under a lot of pressure in the circle, winning the incen ve (Naracoorte Sportspower). Such a great team game. You should all be proud of the way you played!
A Reserve: Robe 44 def Glencoe 23. The roosters had a great game against Glencoe, playing four quarters of smart and intense netball. The Glencoe team put the pressure on in defence, making the shooters play in front and think hard about their movement in the circle! The defenders Alannah and Kim stepped up in the second quarter, ge ng turnovers and giving the team more scoring opportuni es. Well done to Maisie and Alannah for playing a great defensive game and coming away in the best players (The Eighth Le er Bungalow & Naracoorte Sportspower). Robe held composure and their lead for the whole game which is always tough against Glencoe. Well done roosters!
B Grade: Robe 35 def by Glencoe 38. We are s ll adjus ng to new players and taking me to se le, but we know in our heads what we need to do and how to play our steady game. We lacked a bit of grunt for the ball, that bit of aggression in our drive, that bit of fire in our belly. We dropped our heads a bit and didn't look like a team that only lost by 3 goals. Where was that confidence in eachother that I know you all have? I know it's there. Having said that I thought George and Mads worked hard in the D espesh when faced with a new tall opposi on goalie. George jagged the calcu a (Holiday) which was well deserved with many intercepts, and Tay was awarded the incen ve (Steve's Place) for her efforts as she navigates se ling back in and adjus ng her game style to suit. We need heads up. We are in this together. Lets raise the bar and con nue the journey
B Reserve: Robe 47 def Glencoe 37. What an amazing day to play netball. Robe put the sunshine on today and the Bres played a smashing game. Star ng with the Brooks trifecta in the a ack meant solid passages of play and accurate goal shoo ng. Third quarter saw some changes made and it took a li le while to se le. 4th quarter everyone se led and that's where we got some incredible turnovers and the best passages of play I have seen all game. Well done ladies, every single player today went above and beyond to get us the win. Calcu a went to Sophie (Steve's Place) and Incen ve to Mardi (Union
Café).
17 & Under: Robe 42 def by Glencoe 50. The girls had a tough game going in with the team missing one of our key Mid-courters. We started off well the girls fought with determina on, and held their heads high un l the last quarter, which is when they let things slip with silly passes and simply just rushing it down the court. Well done to Kiana and Charlie who shared the role of C, both of them are natural wings, but listened to all the advice that was given! Georgie and Sienna had another great game in goals! Lexy and Adelle had a tough one in defence with Glencoe goalies being quite tall but by the third quarter that had it down pact. Stella had a great game in WD. Best player went to Adelle (O oson Partners), and incen ve to Kiana (O oson Partners).
15 & Under: Robe 35 def Glencoe 33. A well deserved win today girls, with a nail-bi ng finish. We were evenly matched for the first half of the game, then came out strong in the third quarter to be up by 5 going into the final quarter. Glencoe came back at us, but it was great to see you hold them off and clinch the win by 2. A great game by our defence line Mads, Olivia and Alisha. Well done to Milla today against a very tall opponent. Your confidence in goals improved throughout the game to be awarded the player incen ve (O oson Partners). Tess received best player (O oson Partners) for good game in WA, presen ng as an op on through mid court.
13 & Under: Robe 2 Glencoe 43. The girls worked hard we just couldn't find our own space today. We had a few changes this week and they really stepped up in the new posi on. Unfortunately, the score never reflects the effort all girls show. Best player went to Saskia Warren (O oson Partners) and incen ve was awarded to Siarrah Boyle (O oson Partners).
Junior 1: Every week the girls improve more and more. It's such a pleasure to watch them grow and strive. We had some great passages of play today and even managed a couple goals. Today the award went to Aurla (SE Excava ons) for a fantas c effort in GA.
Junior 2: What a great team game! Everyone is improving so much each week! With 10 players we made lots of changes throughout the game and everyone tried really hard in lots of different posi ons. Everyone worked really hard on their dodging and coming in front of their players, this allowed us to bring the ball down the court and get it into the ring, which allowed us to score 4 goals! Our best for the season! Well done to Addy for working hard and receiving the incen ve (Caledonian Inn). So proud of you all.
ROUND 14 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW
MOUNt Burr 31 lost to HathERLEIGH 41
Mount Burr broke Hatherleigh’s first centre pass through Mount Burr’s Ella Easterby at Wing A ack to take a 2-goal lead. Defenders from both sides, Mount Burr’s Madi Hagge and Olivia Dean and Hatherleigh’s Elly Redden and Maddie Redman, took numerous intercep ons un l Hatherleigh finally scored from their centre pass. Both teams let wayward passes dominate the quarter with Hatherleigh’s Goal A ack Demi Vanderhorst and Mount Burr’s Ebony Clark being the focus for their respec ve teams, having a calming effect on the game. Hatherleigh’s Wing A ack Rosie Ne le worked hard to feed her goalies. Hagge con nued to work relessly to limit Hatherleigh goalies with Mt Burr taking the first quarter lead.
Hatherleigh se led quickly with strong drives from Erin Watson at Centre and effec ve defensive rebounds to score the first 5 goals of the quarter. Mt Burr looked shocked by Hatherleigh’s higher tempo and intensity Hatherleigh’s Goal Shooter Maddie Pulmer was brought into the game with strong holding and accurate feeding from Ne le and Watson. The defensive pressure from both teams intensified with clear leads hard to come by Hagge and Dean had limited opportunity to take possession, whereas Redden and Redman taking strong rebounds. Hatherleigh had a 9goal turnaround to take a 5 goal lead.
Mount Burr brought on Ashlee Dean to Goal A ack to try to change the dynamic in the circle, while Tegan Telfer entered the court at Wing Defence for Hatherleigh. The weather changed with the rain slowing the game and making it difficult for players to adjust. It became a defensive quarter with both sides pu ng pressure on the ball. Defensive turnovers were taken by both a acking and defensive players. Vanderhorst shot accurately when she took possession of the ball. Once again Redman took defensive rebounds to help extend the lead by 2 more.

Hatherleigh con nued to apply strong defensive pressure and used turnovers to score the first 3 goals of the quarter. Both sides had to work hard to gain possession, with Watson and Laura Schultz con nuing to make space and drive to circle edge to feed into their goalies. Pulmer was the focal point for Hatherleigh in the goal circle, shoo ng with accuracy and taking strong balls. Hagge and Redman made turnovers in both defensive circles, but Hatherleigh was able to maintain their lead to win by 10.

Nangwarry 20 lost to
Port MacDonnell 84
Nangwarry just filling a side this week with a lot unavailable with injury, sickness and work, saw them have a completely different team again this week. It took them a long me to se le and get used to each other, almost most of the quarter. Port Mac was very strong in goals with Megan Hein at Goal Shooter being the focal point moving and posi oning well. Port Mac moved the ball around the ring well. Even with the limited rebounds Nangwarry got they struggled to get ball past the centre third
due to some ght defensive pressure from Port Mac. The Demons led by 15 at the first break.
The second quarter saw Port Mac swap goalers and defence. Nangwarry started to pick up this quarter being more pa ent with passing in a ack. Claire Ferguson worked hard for her team and having a great tussle with Shannon Scheidl. Port Mac really put the pressure on in defence making Nangwarry feeders Tamara Ploenges and Ferguson work hard to get the ball to their goalers. Cassie Dinnison started to posi on well in goals and really moved ball round to find right posi on. Port Mac jumped on any rebounds or bad passing and transi oned well out of defence into a ack with Hein s ll playing strongly and combining well with Kori Collins. Port Mac lead 44 to Nangwarry’s 10 at half me.
Nangwarry made changes swapping Hayley Vanderhorst and Dinnison. Port Mac moved youngster Alysha Coon into Centre, Scheidl to Wing Defence, Alana Berkefeld back to Goal Defence and to Kate Faint to Goalkeeper Nangwarry pounced on that playing much be er this quarter in a ack not throwing so many away. Dinnison stepped up and moved ball around well and Ploenges feeding her accurately. Port Mac’s Coon really picked up playing in the middle u lising her speed down the court well, combining with Michelle Lewis and finding there goalers with some great feeding. Kayla Gray picked up this quarter ge ng any rebounds and taking a few good intercepts making Collins have to work hard. Port MacDonnell lead by 45 goals heading into the final break.
Chrystal Lock and Gray had a swap for Nangwarry in the last. Port Mac li ed this quarter, even if Nangwarry defence took a rebound or intercept, they struggled to get through centre area from ght defence pressure. Lyndall Feast really worked hard at Wing Defence for Nangwarry driving hard and providing op ons for her team. Unfortunately for Nangwarry they started to make some poor passing op ons in a ack and made it easy for Port Mac to get some intercepts. Hein and Collins con nued their strong a acking and combining well with high accuracy. Port Mac proved to be too strong for the depleted Nangwarry side.
Best players - Nangwarry: Claire Ferguson, Cassie Dinnison; Port MacDonnell: Megan Hein, Kori Collins.

Abbey Duncan led the Magpies with on court voice and worked over me to create space. The first quarter finished with Tantanoola in the lead 15-8.
The second quarter was goal for goal with Gould and Ousey shoo ng confidently for Tantanoola. Unforced errors from the Tigers allowed Kalangadoo to get back in the game. Kate Varcoe remained calm under the physical pressure of Kalangadoo’s Jane Auld through the centre. Time was held for an injury to valuable mid courter, Jami Walker, replaced with junior Bella Poulish. Georgia Gen le took an impressive intercep on in a vital me of the game.
