cameron saint

This week sees Cameron Saint run out for his 150th game for the Tantanoola Tigers. 'Sainty' played his first senior game in 2008 while s ll playing Senior Colts. A player with a big engine, blessed with speed and skill, and a bullet le foot, in his first full season of A Grade in 2011 'Merlin' took home the A Grade Most Improved Trophy and then in 2013 the Timekeepers Trophy. In 2014 Cameron had a great finals series kicking 3 goals in the A Grade Grand Final in a team who finished runnerup to Kalangadoo. In 2017 he was awarded A Grade Most Consistent and while having a strong season in 2019 was selected in the Mid South East Senior Interleague Squad. Over the years, weekends in the Saint household have been made up of footy on Saturdays and backing up on Sundays on the soccer pitch, playing both with dis nc on. The Tantanoola Football Club together with partner Danni, son Marty, family and friends would like to congratulate Cameron on his milestone and hope there are many more to come.

JOSH FIEBIG

This weekend Mt Burr's Josh Fiebig will play his 150th senior game. Josh made his A Grade debut in 2010 also winning the club’s Under 17 Best & Fairest in the same year. Josh has now played 145 A Grade and 4 B Grade games. Fiebs’ pace and class off the wing was one of the team’s many assets during their run of 4 consecu ve Grand Finals between 2015-18. Josh has shown to be a very versa le player as he can play up forward and down back, whatever the team needs and is a great clubman. Congrats Josh.

‘stumpy’ officiates 350th a grade game Barry ‘Stumpy’ Nilsson last week umpired his 350th A Grade football match, a fantas c achievement by anyone’s standards. Stumpy’s umpiring started with the Western Border Football League in 1994, before he made the move to the Mid South East Football League in 1996, where he started umpiring B Grade. A er 4 games of B Grade he was given the opportunity to umpire his first A Grade match with Steve Bannon. He recalls that during his first game there was an all in brawl, resul ng in a number of reports being made so it was off to the tribunal a er officia ng in his first A Grade game. He has officiated in numerous grand finals, but will always remember his first A Grade grand final in 2007. Congratula ons Stumpy on a wonderful achievement and on behalf of the Board of the Mid South Eastern Football League and all member clubs well done. PICTURED ABOVE: Barry ‘Stumpy’ Nilsson is congratulated by both coaches from last weekend’s match, Jake Dowdy (Hatherleigh) and Simon Merre (Port MacDonnell).

VIEW FROM THE HILL A er our enforced break away from both football and netball, it was very nice to get back out on the park and support our clubs once again. Even more pleasing, was that common sense prevailed and crowds were permi ed back at community sport, albeit with a ra of restric ons in place. However, I feel this had more to do with the fact that the AFL and Adelaide Oval wanted spectators at the Showdown and nothing to do with common sense. I'm aware of a number of football supporters ready to march on down to North Tce to voice their displeasure should crowds have been permi ed at Adelaide Oval but not at community sport. Anyway, it got the desired result and hopefully, with fingers and toes crossed we can progress towards the end of the season and finals with no further disrup ons. Mild weather condi ons greeted players across the grounds this week, a far cry from the previous fortnight of wet, cold and miserable condi ons. Heard a number of players and supporters quietly thankful for the break of the last two weeks. It would seem the ovals welcomed the break as well, as most were in pre y good condi on given the amount of rain that has fallen in the region over the past month or so. A large crowd at Nangwarry witnessed a very fast and clean game, but unfortunately for Nangwarry couldn't quite get the score on the board. Mt Burr led at every change and ran out comfortable winners, but as with Nangwarry's last game against Glencoe they con nued to play good team football in patches, but then let themselves down by allowing the opposi on to score far too easily. Jack Gregory for the visitors led the scoring with 5 goals, Hamish Smith and Will Bowering 3 and Taylor Allen, Jack Muhovics and Reece Duncan contribu ng 2. For Nangwarry their only mul ple goal kicker was Craig Lock with 2. Be er players for the winners were James Wallis, Josh Wallis, Will Bowering, Jack Muhovics, Andrew Ridley and Tom Hales. For Nangwarry Ben Dinnison earned himself BOG honours followed by George McWaters, Tom Vanderhorst, Isaac Raymond, Jake McKeon and Johnathon Mills. Down at Kongorong and Glencoe came out firing on all four cylinders in the opening term playing a good brand of team footy that had their opponents on the back foot. Fair to say both backlines were on top of their opponents early with Kongorong struggling to get the ball into their forward 50, but their first forward entry resulted in a much-needed goal. In the second term, Kongorong's play makers in Bryn Weaver, Ma Cordy and Harry Evans started to get their hands on the ball and were domina ng play resul ng in a very even quarter with both sides kicking 3 goals. Kongorong came out a er the long break and kicked the first goal of the third term, but a er that it was all Glencoe as they con nually worked the ball forward and applied pressure to their opponents at every opportunity. The s ng had well and truly gone out of the game in the last quarter and both sides were probably feeling the effects of a couple of weeks break. Kongorong can count their blessings as Glencoe missed some very easy and ge able goals in the last half which would've blown the margin out even further. Kongorong's Jack Mullen finished the day with 3 goals and Cam Smith 2. Whilst for the victors Mick McRae topped the goal kicking with 4, Robbie Smith 3, Dylan Childs and Alex Hentschke 2. Be er players for Kongorong went the way of Jake Whi y, Cordy, Evans, Corben O'Dea and Aaron Lightbody. Whilst for Glencoe Dylan Childs was once again

the Murphies best, raking up possessions and centre clearances at will, Pa y Mitchell, Dane Paproth, Carey Megaw, Robbie Smith and Jack Edmonds. Full back Ben Swan gets an honourable men on, from my point of view, controlled Glencoe's backline and stopped many of Kongorong's forward entries. Port MacDonnell ventured to Hatherleigh hoping to secure a top two spot and the allimportant double chance. All they had to do was win and rely on the undefeated Kalangadoo to keep their winning record intact against Robe. Kalangadoo kept their side of the bargain however, Hatherleigh had other ideas. The game was played in good condi ons with the oval in reasonable nick given the abundance of precipita on the region has had during winter. In a ght tussle all day Hatherleigh got out to an early 2 goal lead in the first quarter and despite Port MacDonnell's best efforts just couldn't get their noses in front. There was never more than 2-3 goals in it if for the en re match, in a terrific display of good hard footy. Port MacDonnell used their talls well to link defence to a ack, crea ng plenty of opportuni es going forward. At the end of the day however, it was Hatherleigh's pressure and their small forward brigade at the fall of the ball, offering be er scoring op ons to give Hatherleigh a much need win heading into the business end of the season. Jack Skeer finished the day with 4 through the big s cks, coach Jake Dowdy 2 along with Sam Telfer also with 2. For Port MacDonnell young livewire Brandon Newton kicked 3 for the Bay and Will MacDonald 2. Be er players for the home side named were Jordy Galpin, Jack Skeer, Michael Telford, Jack Gray, Jake Dowdy and Jase Faulkner, and for Port MacDonnell Rohan Povey, Tim Sullivan, Dylan Bromley, Kevin Thomson, Ben McGregor and Zack Williams made the cut as the Bay's best. Just down the road at Robe, Kalangadoo were a li le undermanned as they couldn't welcome their Mexican team mates due to Victoria experiencing their sixth COVID lockdown, but this made li le difference to the reigning premiers who currently sit undefeated at the top of the A Grade ladder. In a very workmanlike manner, they con nually show up and get the job down, this me by the best part of 6 goals. Kalangadoo were a model of consistency throughout the match and although Robe threw everything at them, the Doo boys had their measure by a couple of goals each quarter in a really good hit out heading into the business end of the season. Michael Krieger was once again dangerous when presented with anything resembling a goal kicking opportunity to put 6 away, ably assisted by Ben Gregory with 3 and the evergreen Benny Mules with 2 - you can probably bet your bo om dollar that he set up more than he kicked! For the home side Riley Dickenson provided a target up forward and didn't disappoint kicking 4 goals and Billy Laurie and Jack Sneath 2 each. Be er players for Kalangadoo went the way of Gregory, Jon Mules, Andrew Stone, Tye McManus, Nathan Reeves and Josh Searle. Whilst for Robe Billy Laurie showed the way followed by Egan Regnier, Jordan Pe t, Kaden Woodward, Tom Gould and Jordan Hentschke. To this week's round of matches and it doesn't get any bigger than the clash at the Bay, where Robe make the long trip to decide second spot. Port MacDonnell could've already been there if not for last week's Hatherleigh speed bump, and they will be working hard both on and off the track this week to make sure they won't be

mee ng the Eagles again in a cut-throat 1st semi in a fortnights me. Port MacDonnell's talls may worry the Robe boys, but then again it may play in their favour if the day is wet and the ball ends up spending a good amount of me on the deck. When these two teams meet in round 8, it was Port MacDonnell that came away with the points with a 22pt victory. In this game, Port MacDonnell came out and was able to post a 3-goal buffer and Robe were made to play catch up footy for the rest of the day and that's something that the Bay boys have regularly been able to do is start well. Daron McElroy will be a welcome return for the home side and he will be eager to put the last couple of months behind him and I'm sure his team mates will li around him and for this reason it will be the Bay boys singing their song Saturday night. Mt Burr hosts Hatherleigh and up un l last week were s ll a mathema cal chance of making the four if they could overcome the Eagles today. But Hatherleigh became the masters of their own des ny and snuffed out any change the Burr Boys had of making the four with last week's win over Port MacDonnell. Hatherleigh are slowly but surely ge ng back to full strength, and if I were any of the top four sides it might be a li le worrying as they can be a formidable combina on when they have a complete list to choose from. Hatherleigh will be cking off all the boxes to make sure that they keep their winning momentum going and possibly trying a couple of new combina ons and game plans to keep the pressure on those teams above them. Mt Burr on the other hand can mix their form a bit and I really haven't seen them put teams away when the opportunity arises, they seem content to do just enough to get the win. Hatherleigh won't let this one slip like in round 8 and they should win well. Tantanoola host Nangwarry and for the Tigers it's been a long 3 weeks since they last played. Nangwarry would certainly see this as an opportunity to get a win, but unfortunately there is s ll a lot of work for the Saints boys to do to finally get a W next to their name. There is no doubt that Luke Thomson has been able to at least li Nangwarry to be somewhat compe ve during games, they just need to do this over a full four quarters. Tantanoola have recently announced the reappointment of Jak Ryan as their senior coach for 2022 and no doubt the players will be looking to repay both the club and Jak with a win. As much as my heart wants to see Nangwarry get up, my head tells me otherwise and Tantanoola will have two reasons to celebrate Saturday night. In the final match of the round Kalangadoo hosts Kongorong. When these two teams met in round 8, it was the beginning of the end for the Kongorong Hawks as they posted their lowest score for some me and a number of players were struck down with significant injuries. I expect Kalangadoo to again show no mercy to their opposi on as they too will be looking to fine tune their game with finals just around the corner. As I have said me and me again, Kalangadoo are such an even team, there really is no weak link in their chain and it really is a credit to them as a club to remain such a successful side over quite a number of years now. I think the rest of the compe on are wai ng for the day that the injury curse hits Kalangadoo, as they have been le rela vely unscathed over the same period. Kalangadoo by plenty, as for Kongorong their challenge is to beat their round 8 score of 1-5 (11).

KALANGADOO KONGORONG

Round 16 saw Kalangadoo head to Robe. A nice winter's day at the seaside. Robe were too strong across the 1st 3 grades this week. Kalangadoo took the points in the main game by 6 goals. It is great to have football back a er a Covid 19 scare and 2 games off. Under 11: Once again, we had great numbers in the Minis! Boxy and Tys have the kids flying. They are developing at a rapid rate. Tenacious tackling and team work have been the focus this season. Under 14: We were undermanned and undersized again last week, but the kids always play a good hard brand of football. Robe ended up running away winners, which I don't think truly reflects how the game panned out. For such a small and inexperienced side our pressure around the ball was second to none. Keep working hard kids! Under 17: Last Saturday was a tough day at the office for the Under 17s. Robe have played together for a long me now and it showed. Their teamwork and ability to find each other by foot was very impressive. Connor Gen le was named best player again, he is pu ng a really consistent season together. It's really important to stay posi ve and keep building. With sustained hardwork results will come. Reserves: We fielded a slightly more inexperienced team last week due to injuries sustained over the previous couple of games. Robe are a very fit and well drilled ou it. We kept up with them un l half me, but fitness and a lack of con nuity within the group showed in the second half. The next couple of games are cri cal for the group. We need to win both games to

stay in the mix and build to push for finals. Stay ght as a group and con nue to put in the work and opportuni es will arise. Seniors: Robe were tough, quick and very skilful. But fortunately for Kalangadoo, our relentless pressure and desire to hunt the ball came through again. We won the game by 34 points, but looking at the scoreboard we probably could have won by a few more goals. We had 12 more scoring opportuni es but didn't convert as well as we could have. I think this was the best we have executed our game plan all season. Once again, our back 6 were superb. They intercepted and rebounded superbly, making it a nightmare for any forward. Benny Greggs was named best on ground for a superb game on the wing, also kicking 3 goals. Kriegs was once again the catalyst forward, kicking 6 goals and proving a handful. This week we host Kongorong at home. It will be a significant day for the football club as club great and favourite son Chrissy Mules runs out for his 300th game. Chris has played in 3 A Grade premierships (including as a coach), he is a league life member, a 5- me Sid Reid Best and Fairest, 9- me MSEFL Interleague representa ve, as well as being a long serving commi ee member. Chris, on behalf of the Kalangadoo Football Club, thank you for your outstanding service to football and our club. You have influenced past, present and emerging players to love football the way you do. Your club/Kalangadoo first mentality has worn off on the en re football club and helped put us in the strong posi on we are currently in. Enjoy your day mate! Go Maggies!

KALANGADOO KONGORONG

Firstly, a big thank you to all a endees at our home game against Glencoe. With new Covid restric ons in place, it was very pleasing that everyone cooperated by wearing their masks, si ng down to eat and drink, and spreading out for social distancing purposes. The effort was greatly appreciated by our volunteer Covid Marshalls. Secondly, we had the pleasure of hos ng our 40 Year Reunion of the 1980-81 flags. It was great to see the past players catching up over a beer and reminiscing of the legends that they were. Pleasing to see the partners, and ladies commi ee of the me, enjoying the catchup also. A special men on to Ross Milne and Dick Waters for coordina ng the event, a hard task when working through changing restric ons etc. but definitely worthwhile, and from all accounts, everyone had a great day. A quick shout out to the Netball Club for a fun me at the Shuffle Night. Again, with no singing and dancing allowed, and mask wearing, it was a risk to s ll hold it, however it paid off with an awesome me had by all. Minis: Thanks to Glencoe for a good fun game, and a special men on to Mac Brant, Iziah Hunt, William Beare and Nate Von Stanke-Dowie for helping them with numbers. All 4 boys volunteered, and show great character already at their age. It was a strong and even performance, but there were some players that stood out to the umpire who picked the best. Zach Angelino and Tyler George stood out yet again, with both boys having a very consistent season. Aus n Bowering kicked 1 goal 6 and one out on the full in only about 10 minutes when forward, showing great poten al there. Angus Maidment played his usual game and Charlie Lasle really impressed me by keeping a level head, showing a great a tude towards the umpire and the opposi on, which is something a couple of the older kids struggled with last week, but this was handled really well by the umpire. Thanks again Glencoe. Junior Colts: With a couple weeks layoff, and a few players back from injury, needless to say there was some eagerness to get the game going. It looked to be a rela vely good match up with Glencoe having some big and handy players, but we managed to jump them early on with 3 goals in the 1st quarter. From there we were never headed throughout the 4 quarters and allowed to swap some players around to get some me up the ground. Was again another real even team performance and looking to build on the team brand of footy we are playing. Best players again a tough one as such an even performance across the ground and playing their part in the win. Best on ground and spent the full 4 quarters in the middle finding plenty of the ball Declan Richardson received the Swallow Drive Meats Award. Second best and Rocks Shop Award went to Jobe Janeway who is growing in confidence each week and becoming a leader in the midfield group. Tyler Richardson up forward provided plenty of run and kicked 3 plus set up several others to receive the Rocks Tavern Award. Rhys Newton found plenty of the ball all day and is another that is really growing in confidence each week took home the Mick Mullan Encouragement Award. A er being away on holidays for a while was great to have Blake Telford back and picked up where he le off pu ng head over the ball and running in straight lines in the backline received the Coaches Award. The Angelino Family Award could have gone to just about anyone but kicking his 1st couple of goals in footy and playing a part in a few others Logan Cordy no doubt let Dad know all about it to take the award home. Looking forward to travelling up the road to take on the Magpies on their home ground next up. Go Hawks! Senior Colts: Well... a few weeks off and our boys were relishing the challenge of staying in touch with the top four. Every game is a must win for us to play beyond the last round, and the boys come to play. Glencoe si ng hot on our tails wai ng to get in was the fire to excite the boys to play well. First best with a standout performance was Maverick Cooper. His ability to win the ball around

2nd qtr

3rd qtr

the contest was second to none and put his head over the ball and was silky with his finishes. Loves ge ng in front of goal and slo ed a couple to round out his day. Mav received the Ma hews Petroleum Award. Cohen Janeway again rucked for the majority of the game and was rucking well. O en winning the tap to advantage and never give up. His work rate around the ground was good and even finished with a goal. Ironically he received the Janeway Concre ng Award for second best. MT Wheels Award went to our Tex, unlike his name sake he played well up and down the wing with plenty of run and wasn't afraid to get in the contest and win his own footy. While this kid could hold down a key posi on anywhere on the ground, it's a luxury to have running the wing. Well done James Allen. Riley McConachie took out 4th best and the Badenoch's Deli Award for his efforts across half back. He too had plenty of run in the legs and was able to play good rebound footy when the going got ght. 5th best was the mobile forward in Tom Bellinger. He fought hard all day and was scrapped and held many mes with the ball coming in and never received any help from the blokes with the whistle for his efforts, but kept working lead a er lead. We needed some relief in the middle and Tommy stepped it up when he was needed. The Spot On Fishing Award went to Will Von Stanke. While his game wasn't completely polished, and it wasn't his most outstanding game he did put in and give effort where needed. He played out of posi on somewhat and has usually been down back and was thrown forward for a bit of spark and was full of effort. Bring on the 'Doo' today and let's try cement our spot in the four. Reserves: In an old fashioned, hard contest our boys stood their ground and ran away with an excellent win. Lukey McIntyre was on fire in front of goals, boo ng seven for the day, and taking home the Collins Court Butcher Award. This young fella has a heap of poten al, and will hopefully fulfill it in the coming years. Ryan Vickery is finding some form and received the Commercial Hotel Award, followed in third best by Callum Wagstaffe and the Killara Food Centre Award. Club Tea Award went to Lachlan Brown, with Mark Paech's on field leadership and performance earning him the Killara Food Centre Award. Andrew Telford rounding out the best players. Need another strong performance today against Kalangadoo to aid in securing our place in the top four. A Grade: Footy returned once again a er a few weeks off due to Covid. We took on Glencoe at home and while it wasn't too bad a day with a li le bit of light drizzle, the ground was heavy, although held up well overall. The few weeks off playing/training didn't do us any favours and injuries con nue to be an issue for our club. First quarter was pre y close and a li le scrappy but never really could seem to get any momentum going. We had a few good places throughout the day, but Glencoe just proved to be too strong for us on the day. Best player was Jake Whi y who's just ge ng be er and be er each week, giving repeat efforts me and again, Jake received the Commercial Hotel Award and will no doubt be happy to spend it, having turned eighteen during the lockdown. Ma Cordy was second best showing his skill on both feet and delivery and is no doubt playing his best year of footy for us so far, taking home the Collins Court Butcher Award. Harry Evans con nued his fine form, throwing himself at every contest to receive the Killara Food Centre Award. Young gun Corbin O'Dea took out the Club Tea Award, closely followed by the everreliable Aaron Lightbody who was awarded the Killara Food Centre Award. A er the Kalangadoo game we'll head back to the club for teas and presenta ons and a Mini Auc on. No doubt will be a great night, some auc on items include 4 x bundles of Tanaposts from Roundwood Solu ons, trailer loads of redgum from the Brant families and D & S Firewood, Car Detailing Voucher from Steve Walters Detailing, 1.75lt Chivas Regal bo le of Scotch, and a few more, so see you there. Good luck to all teams against Kalangadoo.

PORT MACDONNELL ROBE

Senior Colts: Pre y disappoin ng game a er a lengthy break. Hatherleigh are a quality side and showed us how it’s done defea ng us by close to 20 goals. A big task this week hos ng Robe, and with only two games to go we need to finish off our season playing compe ve footy. Best players went to Isaac, Shaun, Koby, Connor, Dylan and Jacob. B Grade: Football has finally returned a er a longer than expected break due to a 2-week Covid shut down. A er a good win a month ago against Mt Burr to help consolidate our posi on on the ladder, confidence was high heading into the original 2 weeks break. This would give everyone a good chance to rest and get the injuries right. However, we were then faced with the extended break due to the Covid shutdown. This can o en be the enemy of Reserves footballers, as they can get up to a li le no good. We also missed a couple of extra opportuni es to help with the finals campaign. However, onwards, and upwards all we need to do is keep winning to take care of our own fate. A quieter than normal crowd greeted the boys as they headed out on the ground, and the game started with the boys trailing by 2 goals at the quarter me break. However, that’s where the story gets a li le rough from our perspec ve. In the next 2 quarters Hatherleigh banged on 6 unanswered goals to have a very handy 50-point lead at the 3/4 me break to almost take the game away from us. In the last quarter we managed to hold Hatherleigh goalless, but the nega ve was we only managed to add one of our own allowing Hatherleigh to take out a very nice win. Best for the week, Tre Davis in a quick trip back to the B Grade, a er a BOG performance it will only be a very short return. Second best was the old champ Ben O'Dine in his standard fine performance. Third best was Rhys Timms in a splendid display. Fourth best was the skipper Damien

2nd qtr

3rd qtr

O'Dine leading from the front as always. Fi h best was Lennox Lewis who has been in rare touch since returning to the side. This week we host the second placed Robe in a must win game as they all are heading towards which hopefully will be a lt towards the finals. A Grade: A er a very long month away from football we have finally returned to a new masked normal of heading back to the local footy on Saturday. The month away le a li le void for many, it has also caused a few issues for coaches and administrators on how best to navigate through constantly changing rules and regula ons and keep players in good shape for the rest of the season and hopefully a finals lt. But for the players and spectators all roads led to Hatherleigh for the round 16 clash with both teams in the final race, the game held even more importance. When the game started Hatherleigh hit the ground running grabbing a 2-goal lead heading into the first break. The second term we managed to eat into the lead by a goal se ng up a cracking second half. In the third quarter Hatherleigh managed to extend their lead by a further 10 points. In the last quarter in an even contest were unable to take any chunk out of the Hatherleigh lead. Best for the week was Rohan Povey in his best game of the year, second best was a regular in this space Tim Sullivan, third best was another regular Dylan Bromley, fourth best was Kevin Thomson another regular, fi h best was the old man of the side Ben McGregor, sixth best was the birthday boy Zack Williams. This week we host Robe in a very important game which could decide second place on the ladder. A er an exci ng game let's head into the club for the Red and Blue Ball, even though it will be a li le different with the current Covid condi ons, it is important that we support the club and stop in and have a great night.

Junior Colts: Jeez we had been wai ng for this week to roll around. Coming off 5 weeks off the boys couldn’t wait to get out onto the field and con nue to play good footy. We were met by a severely undermanned Kalangadoo side who toiled away all day but with a third of the numbers that we had were going to be up against it all day. We knew we had a job to do to con nue to push for the second chance come finals me and we did this in a very professional manner. All players had at least a quarter playing for the opposi on and I applaud the effort that was put in by all players. We ran away with a very convincing win led by our three captains (Kaiden, Cooper and Mason) as well as Charles Moore who then subtly told the en re footy club how many goals he kicked at presenta ons that night. We con nue to keep moving forward and hopefully keep learning and ge ng be er every week. We make the long trek down to ‘the Bay’ this week hoping to con nue our winning ways. Cheers Jack. Senior Colts: Last week we took on the struggling Kalangadoo ou it at home. What a marvellous day it was to bring back footy with the sun shining and everybody masked up. The Robe boys were geared up to get back into their footy a er 4 weeks off. Kalangadoo were really struggling for numbers and mustered up 10 of their finest. We lent them some of our Robe boys and I couldn't be prouder of how they conducted themselves when playing for the opposi on. They didn't take their foot off the pedal and o en taunted their teammates as they moved the football for the opposi on. With no wings or pockets there was plenty of room for both teams to go to work. Robe got out to a flyer with a 6-goal lead in the first quarter to Kalangadoo’s 0. In the second quarter, we sent some more over for a more interes ng contest. To Kalangadoo's credit they started to move the ball well and scored 2 goals in the second quarter and looked dangerous. The Robe boys con nued to control most of the play and scored 4 more goals of their own. In the second half, the game broke right open. Both teams were exhausted with no bench for either team and plenty of grass to cover. Robe flexed their muscles with Max Robertson winning mul ple 2v1 contests and kicking 4 goals for the game. Jay Lines streamed off the half back line with

2nd qtr

3rd qtr

his team leading voice. Ethan Cornish used his pace and agility around goals to score 3 goals. In the second half, Robe piled on another 8 goals to Kalangadoo's 1. Kalangadoo ba led hard all day but were overcome by a strong Robe Senior Colt unit. Robe took the chocolates with a 119-point victory. This week we take on Port Mac down at the bay. It looks to be a muddy affair. Perfect condi ons for footy! See you there! A Grade: Well football is back and the top of the table clash promised to be a good one albeit Robe would be a bit rusty not having played since late June. The Magpies started well with their trademark short accurate kicks un l they were in a posi on to shoot for goal and they had four goals on the board to Robe’s one. Robe needed to man up and play disciplined football if they wanted to compete with the well drilled Magpies unit and as the quarter progressed they did claw back some control by applying pressure. The Magpies led by two goals at quarter me. The second quarter saw Robe kicking with a slight breeze but was Kdoo capitalising on mistakes by Robe to open the scoring but Robe gathered themselves and quickly replied. The Doo’s ball use was superior to Robe however Robe’s pressure was keeping them in the game and it was a contest worthy of the two top teams in the league. Kalangadoo easily found targets inside their forward line while Robe’s players were not disciplined enough to pick up their opponents. The score at half me showed the Magpies had extended their lead to four goals and unless Robe changed the way they were playing the Doos could expect to win the match. Robe could not stop the Doos from opening up their forward line using short direct foot passing and at one stage the Doos were out to a five goal lead. However Robe con nued to scrap and move the ball forward and pegged some goals back ensuring that the game con nued to be a struggle. The Doos lead at three quarter me by four goals and it was set for an interes ng last quarter. The chat the Doo’s runner had with the umpires appeared to pay dividends in the last quarter when fi y incidents occurred and the Doos con nue to move the ball forward and score eventually running out winners by five goals. Calcu a Bill Laurie, Egan Regnier, Jordan Pe t.

MOUNT BURR HATHERLEIGH

It was good to be back playing football and netball last week a er the season was interrupted for two weeks. Fingers crossed we can finish the season without anymore stops. The Burr won the Senior Colts and A Grade while Nangwarry won the other two grades, unfortunately we've had to postpone a couple of func ons because of restric ons. Hopefully we can hold these func ons at the start of next season. As today is our last home game the club would like to thank all the players and supporters who have volunteered their me in some way on home games it is much appreciated. At this stage we could be hos ng the first final. If so, we will be looking for many volunteers to help on the day. Congratula ons to Josh Fiebig on his 150th game today. Junior Colts: Last week we were back a er a couple of weeks off thanks to Covid, the boys were up and about early. The first three quarters from our boys were good but unfortunately they dropped off a li le in the last quarter and Nangwarry were able to capitalise on this and kick a few late goals to seal the win. Best players for us last week were Lukas Montouri who tackled all day and applied pressure, Logan Carr who chased and layed tackles all day as well, Will Wimshurst who rucked and competed all day, Charlie Bevan who was all over the ground and delivering the ball well to his teammates, Deklan Brant who used his body well and won a lot of his one on ones, and Jordan Burchall who was relentless with his chasing and tackling as well. We look forward to this week with another big task and hopefully we can come away with a win. Cheers Tom. Senior Colts: Last week we 2nd qtr

3rd qtr

played an undermanned but very determined Nangwarry and came away with a hard earned win. Five of our boys had a run with Nangas and all played well. Best players were Geordie Whennan, Brady Sharp, Brock Sandow, Kallan Bevan and Caleb Carr. Big game this weekend against Hatherleigh and the boys are looking to finish season off strong. B Grade: The boys were slow out of the blocks a er not playing for a couple of weeks and allowed Nangwarry too many easy possessions which they're were able to convert onto the scoreboard, but a er quarter me we gained some control by applying more pressure and using the ball be er going forward and started to close the gap on the scoreboard. In the end their experienced players were able to control the game when needed. Be er players were George Wimshurst, Je Bowering, Brodie Hogan, Jacob Gregory and Stephen Rees. A Grade: How good was it to have footy back! We travelled down to Nangwarry and played on the best oval (outside of Mt Burr) at this me of the year. A er a bit of a slow start it was pleasing to get some run and movement in the second half. Definitely an odd end to the year - so much uncertainty - it was good to get a win and enjoy being back out there again with each other. Best players were Jimmy Wal, Joshy Wal, Wilbur Bowering, Jacko Muhovics, Andy Ridz and new dad Tommy Two Toes Hales. On to Hatherleigh this weekend back at Mt Burr in what’s sure to be a cracking game. Looking forward to this one. Go Burr. 4th qtr

MOUNT BURR HATHERLEIGH

Junior Colts: Back on the winners list. A er a couple weeks off footy I was pleased how the team played. Ollie Fitzgerald played well using his good skills assis ng in a few goals, Jordy Aky con nued his good form, his forward line pressure was a standout resul ng in him kicking two goals, Charlie Sims had a good game in the middle, played a quarter up forward kicking a major. Chloe Bellinger is improving each week, her skills while under pressure are second to none. Teej Lawlor skills in the slippery condi ons were a standout. Overall good team win. Best players: Ollie Fitzgerald (Dentons Sportpower), Jordy Atkinson (Millicent Toy Kingdom), Charlie Sims (Stumpy Nilsson), Chloe Bellinger (Peter Walters), Teej Lawlor (Ladies commi ee canteen). Senior Colts: The boys had a solid win over the Bay, with a solid team effort by all with 8 individual goal kickers. Harvey Jones was the focal point up forward snagging 10 goals. Paddy Chay found plenty of the ball. Eli Kneen generated plenty from the backline. Ethan Leopold rucked well all day and Jordy Atkinson played well in the middle. Reserves: A er our extended break we came up against another finals 2nd qtr

bound side in Pt Mac. Our focus was to start well, and we managed to do this whilst also bringing great pressure to the contest. During the middle two quarters we were able to take control of the game whilst also holding our opponents goalless in this period. The last quarter was a bit more of an arm wrestle, but the game wasn’t in doubt and we were able to finish comfortable winners by 43 pts. A really pleasing team performance, and best players were hard to pick. We se led on Thorny, Rural, Max, Dyl and Reidy. Special men on to Modra Wight. A Grade: A er what seemed like forever we were back into it last week on our home deck vs Port Mac. Coming into the game we knew we had to get a good start and the boys started really well. In a high pressure game we used the ball, we went into the main break a goal up. We knew Port Mac were going to li and our boys rose to the occasion and con nued to play a high pressure game and ran out the game with a 3 goal win. Jordy Galpin, Mikey Telford and Jack Gray were amongst the best players. This week we take on Mount Burr at Mount Burr.

TANTANOOLA NANGWARRY

Today we welcome and thank our sponsors for our annual sponsors day to see us take on Nangwarry. Our sponsors are an important part of running our club and we appreciate the support we get from businesses and families/individuals, your generosity is crucial for our club. All sponsors can be found on our website. Please support those who support us. Thank you to our corporate sponsors Infigen, Holla Fresh and Somerset Hotel, Gold sponsors Grantville Court Butchers, Moreland Holdings and Professional Wind Services and Silver sponsors Gildera Forestry Services, Kustom Benchtops, Limestone Coast Mobile Abrasive Blas ng, Sapiatzer Excava ons and The Splendid Egg. Unfortunately our Mexican iPod Shuffle Night that was due to happen tonight has been cancelled. Junior and Senior Presenta on details are being finalised soon so stay tuned to Facebook for updates. Junior Colts: With a close to full squad for the first me in forever we went over to Kalangadoo wan ng to put up a good show. Unfortunately, the Kalangadoo kids are having the same issues with player availability that we have had. With that being said it was our turn to be able to help out and send some boys each quarter over to them to make sure we got a game in. Thanks to all those players who went over as your a tude was fantas c and a credit to our club and the families. The game was a great opportunity for a few of our younger lads to get more of the ball and it was great to see everyone teaming up and using one another. Special men on to all of the under 11 players who have been helping us out all

year. Thanks a lot and it was great to see you all kick at least a goal if not more, was great to see all the smiles. Bests: Eli, Kaden, Jake, Levi, Evan. Awards: Dentons - Charlie, Jennings Chad, Maccas - Harley, Fasta Pasta - Kobe. Senior Colts: The under 17 boys came up against the Kalangadoo boys who were short of players so I had a good chat with their coach and made a game out of all his boys, plus a few of our boys. Swapping a few around as the day went on, our Tant boys came out with a good win. Just like to thank all the boys who played for both teams. We didn't give out best players as it was too hard on the day. B Grade: Last game saw us venture over to Kalangadoo. It was a wet and windy day and we knew it was going to be tough against a very well drilled Magpies side. We started really slowly but clawed our way back into the game. My lads kept compe ng right un l the last minute which is all I can ask for. Best on ground in his first game back for the Tigers was Mark Langley. A Grade: G'day everyone. For our last game we made our way to Kalangadoo to take on the Magpies. With them si ng top of the table we knew rain, hail or shine we had to bring our best game possible. Coming into the first stoppage up was a big boost but coming in at the half conceding mul ple goals saw us lose the lead. A er a hard fought second half in the rain and mud Kalangadoo come away with the win but we were all happy with the 4 qtr effort, despite losing a couple early in the game. Best in no order were Ma Sorella, Jayden Reilly, Alec Roberts, Brayden Reilly and Darcy Pink.

TANTANOOLA NANGWARRY

Footy was back and many were excited, but with a lot of Covid-19 restric ons in place the ground felt a li le emp er. A big shout out to our Junior Colts who got the first win of the day. These young lads are really star ng to play some polished football and we are all excited to con nue watching the stars of our future club over the next few years if they s ck together. It was the game many of the older blokes were looking forward too and hoping that they could get a win, and a win they did. Congratula ons boys on a solid 4 quarters of footy and it was sensa onal to hear you all sing the song loud and proud on the oval of course. For those who follow “South East Football Scores” on Facebook would know he follows our leading goal kicker every year and this year he is excited to see some healthy compe on amongst the boys. Can coach LT hang on and take out 2021 in the final game? We look forward to seeing how it unfolds. The club would also like to congratulate local boy BJ Deamer on his 200th game last week against the Burr. BJ has stayed true to Nangwarry throughout his footy career. BJ started his footy career playing Junior Colts and is now one of our top A Grade players. He has won the A Grade B&F and several other trophies over his career. He is a hard nut on the field and can handle many tackles and has some outstanding ball skills. We look forward to watching BJ for many more years. An awesome night was had at our annual Auc on Night with a touch over 13 thousand raised. We had a lot of great items on offer this year which contributed to our best one to date. Cheers to Ethan Bronca and Ma Burdon who done an awesome job auc oneering. To the businesses and people that donated items and to all the people that dug deep and bought stuff on the night thank you very much. Cheers to Madd Bites for catering. Hit these guys up if you need some catering done for your next func on. A big thanks to Jodie for taking the team photos and ac on shots last week too! A er our final game for the 2021 season against Tant we would like to welcome everyone back to Blue Lake Golf Links for tea and we will present awards there. Remember to support those who supports us. Junior Colts: A er a good night on the training track Thursday, our young Saints were ready to take on the challenge of Mt Burr who were si ng above us on the ladder. A er a ght opening half our boys really li ed the intensity around the contest and applied some great tackles which was a focus going into the game. A 6 goal to 1 second half gave us a 34-point win in the end. The 2nd half was some of the best footy we have played all year. Best players for the day were the everreliable Archer, Taj who ba led in the ruck all day, our captain Noah, Harry who made lots of smart decisions down back, Calais who was everywhere and young Jordan Edwards who played his best game of the year. Team awards went to Benne , Rhys, Harvey and Josh. Senior Colts: Last week our boys played a very compe ve side in Mount Burr. I first want to thank the Mount Burr coach and boys who came over and helped fill in for us. Our defensive pressure was very high at the start but couldn't get things going on the offensive side of things. Second half hit and we were star ng to be a problem for the Burr boys, but yet again they were too strong and earned that win. Best players were Ty Dinnison, Bailey Linder, Jack Stocker, Cooper Holmes, Mitchell Adams and Archer Virtanen. Reserves: A great game by the B's last week ge ng their first win since 2018 and in doing so got themselves off the bo om rung of the ladder. Got away to a great start and then a er a fightback from the Burr they held them at bay when it counted. All players did their bit when needed to make sure they got the result on the board. Great job by all and plenty of gusto in the singing of the song a er the game. Seniors: The A Grade defended hard in the first half which kept us in the game at half me. It was our best defensive half for the year but unfortunately we found it hard to score ourselves, with Mount Burr's key backs domina ng. We come out in the third flat and the game got blown out, with two concussions and a couple of minor injuries the boys did well to run out the game in the 4th quarter to again improve the score from the last me we played them. A big congratula ons goes to BJ Deamer for his 200th game, a great footballer and great clubman. Also to Ben Juste for game number 50. Cheers LT.

NIC THOMAS

Nicole Thomas will play her 150th senior game for Hatherleigh this Saturday when she takes the court in the B Grade against Mt Burr. Nic joined the Hatherleigh Netball Club in 2003 where she received the B Reserve R/U Best and Fairest and con nued to play through un l the end of the 2005 season. She returned in 2008 and again won the B Reserve R/U Best and Fairest. Nic missed quite a few years a er having children and returning to the Western Border Associa on to Millicent, she returned in 2016 and has since played in the B and B Reserve sides, coaching the B Grade in 2020 and currently playing in the B Grade in season 2021. A very versa le player and reliable hard worker, Nic has also been a member of the Hatherleigh Ladies Commi ee and is currently a member of the netball commi ee. Married to Cory, they have three children - Jasper, Kaden and Eva, who also play at Hatherleigh.

ROUND 17 A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW PORT MACDONNELL v ROBE Port MacDonnell are at home this week and will take on Robe in the ba le of the sea-siders. Both teams had tough encounters in their last matches, the Demons went down to Hatherleigh by 30 goals, while Robe were convincingly defeated by Kalangadoo. Last me the teams met it was the Roosters who took the points. Robe’s goalies Sarah Laurie and Tori Gluyas have been in great form and will test the Demons’ defensive duo of Morgan Amy and Lisa McGregor, who have worked well together and given 100% for the Bay. The mid-court ba le will be a good one with Michelle Moore and Jess Trench for the Demons up against Keryn Moore and Asha Pe . Moore and Trench work hard through the middle, and have provided their team with strength and stability all season. Likewise, Pe and Moore have been consistent for the Roosters providing drive through the middle. Down the Demons’ a acking end, Brooke Williams has had a great season supported by Kirby Carrison. Robe defenders Georgia Perkins and Alannah Campbell have gone from strength to strength and will make Williams and Carrison earn every goal. The Roosters’ coach Kimberly Aus n would be happy with how compe ve her team has been given the amount of injuries they suffered at the start of the season. She will be looking for a win to close out what has been a credible season for them. The Demons season has not gone as they would have liked however, they have remained compe ve and not given away their matches without a fight. The Roosters will take the points this week. KALANGADOO v KONGORONG The undefeated Magpies are at home this week and take on the winless Hawks. Kalangadoo had a solid win against Robe at the weekend, while Kongorong went down to Glencoe by 31 goals. Kongorong haven't had much joy this

season and have endured some comings and goings making it hard to find a se led combina on. Tilah Buckingham has provided a target in goals for the Hawks since taking over the playing coaching role and has had some good passages of play with Ella McIntyre. Riley Buckingham has been strong for the Hawks, playing between defence and midcourt. Emily Lightbody returned to the side on Saturday and was in the best players, proving how important she is to the young, inexperienced Hawks. Kalangadoo have been outstanding in season 2021. They just have strength all over the court, Melissa Russell and Abbey Duncan have played some unbelievable netball, well supported by coach Jayde Peacock and Jane Auld through the centre. The Magpies defence line have performed beau fully this season and are able to move around if needed. Chloe Pra , Mikaila Pi and Chelsea Croser are a headache for any opposi on a ack line. They haven't been afraid to use their juniors either, Kori Collins and Sophie Wrightson making regular appearances. Kalangadoo will be way too strong and experienced for the Hawks this week. MOUNT BURR v HATHERLEIGH The Mozzies are at home this week and will take on the Eagles. Hatherleigh are coming off a big win against Pt Mac in their last match while Mount Burr had an easy win against Nangwarry. Last me these teams met it was a ght encounter with Hatherleigh ge ng up by 3. Mount Burr’s Heidi Clark and Madi Hagge have been outstanding in defence all season and have become one of the most polished duos in the league. Wai ng for them will be the Eagles Keston Green and Lacey Haines who have been impressive together since Green’s return from injury. There will be plenty of talent on show in the mid-court. Tegan Merre and Sarah Faulkner in great form for the Eagles, while Laura Schultz and Ava Smith-Muhovics

Proudly supporting the Mid South East Football League

give the Mozzies plenty of drive through the middle. In the Mozzies goal circle Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty have both had consistent seasons and have managed to maintain a high shoo ng accuracy all year. Hatherleigh have a few defensive op ons and it will be interes ng to see who they start on Clark and Nulty. Maddie Redman and Maddie Pulmer have been strong in defence for them, along with Chelsea Galpin and Sarah Broadhead. Any combina on they choose will keep the Burr’s goalies on their toes. I'd expect this to be a close game again and a great spectacle. TANTANOOLA v NANGWARRY Tantanoola are at home this week and take on the Saints. It must feel like forever for the Tigers since they hit the court, having the bye last week following the two Covid interrupted weekends. They will have fresh legs and be keen to get back on the court. Nangwarry suffered a big loss to Mount Burr in their last match. Nangwarry have lost defender Hayley Vanderhorst for the remainder of the season. This has seen Jemma Parsons move into the GK posi on. Parsons will combine with the tenacious Carly Ploenges in defence for the Saints, the pair will need to be at their very best to stop Emma Gould and Jami Walker who run a ght ship in Tant's a ack line. Gould is also a strong rebounder and o en gets a second shot at the few missed opportuni es. Gould and Walker are well supported by Casey Walker and Vic Lucas in the midcourt. Cassie Dinnison and Ange Pra have given their all in the goal circle for the Saints during the year, they will come up against the Tiger defence combo of Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe. The height of Rowe and the clever play from Bromley makes them a tough combina on to beat. Tantanoola will be keen for a big win and will be too strong for the Saints. Glencoe has the bye.

NETball club notes A er a very disrup ve me across the last few weeks, it was great for all teams to be able to play again. As a club we had a very successful day down at Robe with wins across all grades and a massive score to the B Res. At this point in the season, we would also again like to thank everyone involved in making sure the teams get through each week without any issued so a massive thanks you to your con nued support. And a super special thanks to all those that have and con nue to umpire, especially as there have been some big holes to fill this year with a lot of unavailability/injuries to the usual roster, and a super special men on to Keryl Ousey who although 100% commi ed to basketball has had a lot of games cancelled due to Covid who instead of taking the weekend off comes out and fills every gap available at the club as required. Junior 2: Was so good to see our li le Magpies back playing netball. There were smiles all around! Great sharing of the ball on court and the older girls stepping up and helping the smaller ones out good job. Those who played in goals wow excellent shoo ng. We did forget about our feet work and contact in a couple bit of plays but I'm sure you will try to fix this next game and remember not to do this. Let's keep trying and having fun, only 2 more games and we are finished. Team awards for everyone for having a go and trying your best. Junior 1: It was fantas c to see the keen li le Magpies back on the netball court! Ava and Lexie combined well in goals, with some mely drives and nice internal passes. Emmity finally had a chance to play in centre and had some beau ful long passes and plenty of touches in defence. Ashley and Molly worked hard in defence, applied lots of pressure to cause many intercepts. Ebony and Ma lda had some great passages of play in goals and shot some beau ful goals. Well done li le Magpies, you worked well as a team and should be really proud of yourselves. Molly (SAL Award), Lexi (Fasta Pasta) and Ebony (Muffin Break). 13 & Under: Great to be back in ac on and the girls con nued on from their last game with some very good passages of play. Lots of posi onal changes. Alice (Copenhagen) and Lucy had par cularly good games while Tegan (Paradise Pizza) and Chloe (Fasta Pasta) were rewarded for unexpected more court me a er their efforts in the fi eens. 15 & Under: S ll able to experiment with some different combina ons and was pleasing to see the girls adapt so quickly. Abby (Copenhagen award) was in fine form with one of her best games for the season while Molly (SAL Award) again showed what she is capable of with a very steady performance. Georgia (Muffin Break) was most impressive in goals combining well with those around her. Ebony and Chloe showed their calibre to be our best on the day

NETball club notes 17 & Under: Great game, all players contributed to a solid win. Our transi on down the court has improved immensely from the beginning of the season. It was great to see our defence get their mojo back, taking numerous intercep ons. Our a ack line again played smart netball, using the ring well. It's also pleasing to see us minimise turnovers and using fakes. Thanks again to Abby, Eb and Georgia for helping us out. Best players: Kori Collins - Birdie Blue, Shelby Ryan - DK Coffee and Emily Mulraney - F45. B Reserve: Solid defence, good transi on down court and (more importantly!) few silly unforced errors resulted in ample scoring opportuni es. All finished off by our goalies combina on of Jodi (Sheltons Butcher award) and Rhianna who passed brilliantly and shared the shoo ng du es. Gemma played a boomer to collect the Penola IGA award. B Grade: Was good to get back into netball a er a few weeks off and hit our paces early with a solid lead against Robe! Our defensive end had an awesome first half turning the ball over repea vely and crea ng opportuni es for our a ackers. Bel had an amazing shoo ng game barely missing a goal and suppor ng both Gina and Jess. The feeding is ge ng be er, even a er a few weeks off. S ll plenty to work on in the coming weeks and let's not take our foot off the accelerator now. Best: Nicole Reeves - Athletes Foot, Jess Blackmore - Beauty by Re. A Reserve: Given we have not played for a few weeks and had limited training opportuni es it was pleasing to see what we have been working on came into play. Jaimee and Jamie as well as Emmason combined well through the mid court and really did work hard to make space, give the shooters the ball when they demanded and swung the ball as required. Schultz as always, a rock back in GK and took a few great intercep ons. Let's keep training hard and make sure come finals show we have finely tuned all the things we have been working. Also as usual need to thank our support team in Relle as my assistant coach, Re who helped fill in the first aid lady/manager role, and Leanne for their con nued support of the team this season. Jaimee Ryan - Chelsea Feast Make Up, Jamie Ryan - Athletes Foot, Kylie Schultz - F45. A Grade: Was nice to get back to some netball, in sunny Robe. Our defensive pressure all over the court was solid and created many turnovers. It was pleasing to have strong drives out of defence and plenty of op ons in a ack. The a ack line were consistent, hard-working and crea ve to find the basketballer who was spurred on by the presence of her loud friends. Great team effort - well done. Awards: Mikki (Fasta Pasta), Mel (Pines Hotel), Abbey (Margaret St Meats).

Junior 2: What an improvement from the last me we played Glencoe. I'm so proud of all you girls! Our pressure on the ball when they were trying to move it down the court was amazing. We are ge ng be er at clearing and coming forward for the ball. We only have a couple of games le to play, let's train hard, have fun and finish the season on a high. Awards: Hungry Jacks Adele, Angelino Family - Alyssa, Telford Family - Zayley and Boost Juice - Holly. Junior 1: It was a tough game and we definitely didn't play our best. There's a few more things we can work on at trainings but there was also lots of posi ves to take out of the game. Awards went to Sophie (Telford family award) and Lily (Angelino family award). Well done girls. 13 & Under: Best game of defence we have played to date! We tried really hard and each player did their best hence an award to all. Great team work and perseverance unfortunately we went down, the score didn't show the effort applied. Awards: Bellum voucher - Molly, Fasta Pasta Gre a. 15 & Under: A fantas c win girls, was a great game of netball to watch. Each and every player pu ng in 100% for a wonderful team effort. Awards: Hungry Jacks - Sophie, Kaboom Entertainment Jasmin. 17 & Under: Fantas c game girls and we got away with a win! All the girls should be very proud of their efforts throughout the game as it was great to see how well you all played and how quickly you adjusted when needed. All girls played a great and consistent 4 quarters which helped to build on our lead. Can't wait to see the great netball that'll be played over the last two games! Awards: Zara - Bakers Delight, Kate - McKinnon Cleaning Voucher. B Reserve: Bad luck girls, it was a tough game. Don't worry about the score it didn't reflect our play. We will come out much be er this week. We only have two games to go, let's give it our best and end on a posi ve note. Awards: Lima and Co. -

Tamika, She's Apple's - Emily, Baker's Delight - Simone. B Grade: Great game by everyone. You all kept your heads up and encouraged each other down the whole court and it was a really good game to watch. We rushed a li le at mes but we also had some great passages of play. Keep up the great work this week. Awards: Sarah - She's Apples, Brooke Holmes - Vanity. A Grade: Bad luck girls. We are constantly pushing and improving but without a full 4 quarter effort we aren't going to get the results we want. There were passages where we showed that we deserve to be out on court and can run with some of the best but we need to put in the hard yards at training to push for a clean game. Ella worked super hard both in and out the circle leading down the a ack, while our defensive pressure led by Emily (Lima and Co.) and Georgia (Vanity) was an absolute standout which earned them the best players. Today we celebrate the “breakthrough round” against Kalangadoo. The Breakthrough Round is about raising funds to help fund facilitators train football and netball clubs volunteers with mental health awareness and first aid training. Next weekend our last home game (21st August) against Pt Mac will see our long awaited Punch Up return. Please put this in your diary as it looks as if it will be a big one. port macdonnell NETball club notes Junior 1: Well a er having 2 games off due to COVID, we found ourselves at Hatherleigh and it was a cold morning for the li le ones. Great game from everyone, we have improved so much since the start of the season and it great to see, listening skills have improved so much and everyone is trying there best to put the things we learn at training into the game come Saturday. Coming in front and throwing the ball straight away s ll needs a li le working on but we will work on this at training. Great work bringing the ball out of defence into the goal ring it worked so much be er when we were in front of out players, and when we meet the ball, but great effort girls, it was a hard game to come back on but we played our own game and it worked well. Best players went to Kordan Smith (Donut King), Lucy Neale (Hungry Jacks). Junior 2: It was great to be back out at the netball. Another hard game for the girls, but by the second half of the game the girls came back and made Hatherleigh work a bit harder. The girls have improved so much since the start of the year, and each one has their own li le personality quirk. Everyone played really well. Awards went to Skya (KFC), Evie (Hungry Jacks), Peyton (Boost), Lily (Bakers Delight) and BK (Dominos). We have some things to take away from this game, and put into prac ce at training. Keep up the good work girls. 13 & Under: What a great game to come back a er lockdown. A 10 goal improvement from last me is a fantas c effort. Everyone did what we asked and it showed on the court. Defensive pressure was great from all players. Our cu ng in front, clearing out, re-offering and use of space going down the court was great. So everyone received an award - KFC, Maccas and Hungry Jacks. Best players went to Jasmine Morgan and Bella McLean. 15 & Under: Well done girls on stepping up into your posi ons and figh ng hard throughout the whole game. Having lost Bridie and Brooklyn who have played key roles in the defensive lineup for the season is heart wrenching for the girls, but everyone made their own players accountable. Sophie Jones and Stevie Collins created many turnovers for the team and worked hard to adjust to each other's style of play in the defence end, both playing an amazing game playing as a defensive combo for the first me for the season. We wish Bridie and Brooklyn a speedy recovery, hoping to see them hit the court again soon! Best: Sophie Jones (Parade Fish and Chips), Sophie Lewis (Athletes Foot). 17 & Under: A tough game to come back to a er 2 weeks off. Our intensity was consistent through all 4 quarters and that is what we have been working towards all season. Well done to Arriella and Kristy on best players B Grade: It was great to finally hit the court and play netball with each other. The first quarter we started off slow and we didn't play with our usual intensity. We missed opportuni es to capitalise on the turnovers provided by our defence and made some unforced errors. The second quarter we played a more balanced game. The mid-court line of Abbi, De and Candice a acked the ball and worked the angles to find Tayla under the post resul ng in some fantas c court play. The defensive pressure all over the court was

robe NETball club notes

increased and we began to dig deep and capitalise on the turnovers created by our defence. At mes the errors came from our hands. We need to have faith in the processes and the systems we prac se at training. This will help us reach our goal. Once we se led in the second half of the game, effec ve passing and using the space enable us to maintain control. The a ack line found space and resulted in reducing the gap to six. The passing, cu ng and driving from De and Georgia helped find space under the ring for Candice and Tayla. Tayla produced some incredible shots and Candice pulled tricks from her bag! The outstanding efforts by our defensive unit paid dividends. Kelly's ght defence on the wing enabled Kristy and MacKenzie to turnover many balls with touches and gains. It also required the opposi on to make changes in their a ack line. Our full court pressure helped with the gains and we capitalised on these. It was so impressive to see our young and talented juniors, Kristy and MacKenzie play well beyond their years in our defensive line. I am so pleased with our efforts and we le everything on the court. The best on court were the defensive line. Awards: Kelly Millard (Fasta Pasta), MacKenzie Millard (Taylor Made Hairdressing). B Reserve: We had some great passages or play but also some not great ones either. Great drive up and down the court by Briodie and great turnovers from Fee. Let’s get back to basics and start working together as a team. Best players: Briodie Wilson and Fiona Sco . A Reserve: Good game considering the me off we've had. Started the game off strong with some great passages of play. Our defence pressure all over court was great, we do need to slow down and ensure all turnovers are delivered safety into the goal circle. Need to keep working on our court structure, instead of trying to force the ball. Overall a good game. Best: Keyarnah Smith and Holly Smith. A Grade: A er what seemed like a long me since we have hit the court, it had a different feel to normal netball but s ll great to be back out there. We didn't have the greatest start finding our feet but li ed in the 2nd qtr. Brooke Williams didn't miss a beat, barely missing a goal all game. Michelle Moore ran the game out with a tough and quick opponent. Thank you Narelle for playing and helping us out, even though you had already played a full game! Best players: Brooke Williams (Perwiwinkles) and Michelle Moore (She's Apples). We had to cancel our Fluro Quiz Night due to the uncertainty of Covid! We are now running a Major Raffle! Cash and voucher prizes. Tickets are $30. For ckets see Mel Jones (0419 129 245) to purchase one or two or three! First prize is $500 cash, what a great prize! Let’s sell some ckets to raise some money to update our facili es and equipment! PRESENTATION DATES 2021: SENIORS: Friday 24th September @ 7pm. Cocktail food. Ticket prices TBA. JUNIORS: Sunday 26th September @ 2pm. We would also like to thank all our sponsors! We really appreciate your support to our club. To our players and families please support our sponsors in the future!

Junior 2: First game back a er 5 weeks off, and what a game it was. We started a bit flat but the girls definitely gave it their all against a tough Kalangadoo. A great team effort with a couple of great intercepts down the defensive end, unfortunately couldn't quite get it into the goals. Amazing effort for never qui ng by all the girls. Incen ve went to Edie Bates for having a ripper game with her first game back since breaking her arm. Also, an extra award went to Mali Brooks and Olivia Ashenden for consistently s cking on their players and really not giving up against rather tall opponents. Junior 1: Everyone was excited to be back playing netball and you all played a li le ripper. There has been such a huge improvement from all of you throughout the season and it's been wonderful to see your confidence grow. Thank you to Billy for umpiring. Incen ves were picked by the umpires which were Tilly and Lacey. Chocolate award: Saskia. 13 & Under: Robe 7 Kalangadoo 62. Kalangadoo are a very talented side with many tall and agile players. We were under pressure from the beginning of the game, to lead in front and not get caught calling for the ball whilst running backwards. Overall, the focus of being in front of our defenders improved over the game and we were star ng to make double leads to eliminate defenders ge ng their hands on the ball. The improvements we have made over the season was evident and the team kept trying to the end of the game. The best player (The Union) went to Demi Bermingham, a great offensive game and her defence was also strong. The Incen ve (Steve's Place) went to Olivia Cheung for great intercepts throughout the match. 15 & Under: Robe 19 Kalangadoo 63. This was always going to be a tough game coming off a 5-week break. With the saying that you all played with maturity and kept your heads which was lovely to see. We did a few changes each quarter and everyone s ll played well wherever they were put. As a team we need to focus on our passing, learning to hold the ball and think before you pass, which we'll work on at training. We had some great passages of play and showed we can do it when we want, so let's focus on that for this week. Best player (The Union) went to Kiana Brooks and Incen ve (Steve's Place) went to Emily Dew. 17 & Under: Robe 33 Kalangadoo 59. With 5 weeks off of netball we struggled a bit to get our fire back into our bellies. We started off strong but think the mental game took over and we let K'Doo get away in the end. Simple silly errors like our passes, ge ng out at centre passes and mee ng the ball is where we need to focus our a en on. We 100% can play a be er game of netball than what we did, we all need to dig deep for the last few games if we want to come away with the wins. Amalie was a trooper and her posi ve encouragement was second to none. Adjus ng her game where required and ge ng a heap of intercepts earned her the incen ve (Robe Hair Affair) - was great to watch! Maddie picked up best player (Loaves & Fishes), holding strongly in the ring and making it look easy! Let's keep our heads up and believe in ourselves - we can do it, and you are all fantas c netballers, you've just got to have that confidence! B Reserve: Robe 7 Kalangadoo 105. It was always going to be a tough game

against Kalangadoo and with the coach and goalie away the odds were against us. Congratula ons to all the girls for giving it a good crack and not giving up. The scoreboard didn't reflect our effort unfortunately. Well done to everyone that put their hand up to play new posi ons. It certainly made my job easier for the day. Great effort from our defence who had a tough gig. Well done to Amanda who had an excellent game in WD and Olivia who had a run in centre for half a game. Great work from Jess a er some me off to come back and get Calcu a (Loaves & Fishes) and Anne for Incen ve (Lush Flowers). Good job ladies. B Grade: Robe 23 Kalangadoo 76. We went into the game knowing K'Doo were going to be a classy opponent, I set a couple goals for the team and am pleased to say that we achieved what we set out to do. In the end we went down by 53 goals, but that number is not very reflec ve of how well we played as a team. Everyone maintained a posi ve a tude throughout the game and encouraged their teammates which was great to see. Our defensive combina on of Mahalia in GK, Phoebe in GD and Sophie K in WD was brilliant and they did their best to make it hard for K'Doo. Our Calcu a (The Project) went to Sophie P in WA, who made strong leads and passed well into the ring. Incen ve (The Coastal Club) went to the other Sophie (K) who did incredibly well in WD, crea ng turnovers and ge ng a hand to many balls. 2 games le to go girls, let's con nue to have a good crack, encourage and back each other up. A Reserve: Robe 19 Kalangadoo 67. Great team game with everyone figh ng for every ball! Once again, the score didn't represent how we played. Car a, Pom and Ali made K'doo a ack end work for every ball with lots of touches between them. Jade and Keelin driving hard to the circle and making good choices passing into the circle. Belle moving and driving well into circle, while Shelbs complimented her with a great confident holding game. Thanks to Skimmer for stepping on for a quarter and our ever-reliable juniors Maisie and Billie for si ng on the bench. Ali earned the Calcu a (The Cally) for her relentless game in GK and Keelin's slick, fast and accurate moves earned her incen ve (Hook & Harvest). A Grade: Robe 38 Kalangadoo 76. A great team game girls, everyone should be proud of the way they fought to the end of the game. Coming up against a well-polished Kalangadoo was always going to be tough, but we gave it our best. With some great defensive pressure by Georgia and Alannah, making the most of any missed goals with their rebounding. Sammy put on lots of pressure at WD, ge ng her finger ps to a few balls and drove down the court well. Once again Keryn worked relessly at C, and directed play well. Asha worked hard at WA on a tough and taller opponent, and adapted well changing into WD at half me. Kim drove well onto the ring, with some great passing into the goalies with her first game back. Calcu a (Loaves & Fishes) went to Tori for her accurate shoo ng a drive into the ring. Sarah stepped up and had a great game, direc ng play in the a ack line well, earning her the incen ve award (Original Skin Co). Great effort girls, lets finish the season off strong.

NETball club notes

The Mount Burr Netball Club is proud to have Sam and Clark Fal ng, Igni on Fitness, and Kimberly-Clark Australia (KCA) as major sponsors for the 2021 season. Junior 2: A er a couple of weeks off we are back. Welcome back Mia and Wren. You played another great game. Alice and Emily, your shoo ng was on point. Sydnee and Isabella worked well in defence and using your outside arm was great to see. Hannah you are improving each week - well done. Eva, Wren and Mia your ball work down court was great to see. Awards went to Wren (Bakers Delight), Mia (Boost Juice), Sydnee (Kaboom), and Isabelle (Mad Penguin). Junior 1: With the weather holding off for most of the game, the girls were able to show some of the key skills we have been working on at training. Massive improvements can be seen in centering the ball down the court and se ng up around the goal circle. Gemma and Stella worked well in the goal circle, scoring plenty of goals. Sabrina and Paigan con nued improving on feeding the ball to the goalies, which is amazing to see. Sophie and Grace turned over the ball a number of mes resul ng in some great goals. Becky and Lexi defended the circle well, which prevented many goals. Awards went to Becky (Kaboom), Gemma (Muffin Break), and Paigan (Bakers Delight). Great job everyone. 13 & Under: Well done girls, we got the job done. We need to remember when there is a turnover, whether it's for us or against us, we need to react, find our players, find space and look down the court with strong passing to each other. We have done lots and lots of training to improve our game and now we need to bring all that training into Saturdays. Let's get out to training and work hard and come out firing against Hatherleigh. Thanks to Amy for scoring and Lisa for umpiring. Awards went to Kaylah (Boost Juice), Lola (Kaboom), and Sara (Mad Penguin). 15 & Under: Welcome back girls. Isn't it great to be back! It took us a while to get into the first quarter, but with confidence in each other, we regrouped as a team and se led. With lots of changes throughout the court we all adjusted and proved our team is extremely versa le. We all played well down the whole court and created lots of turnovers. This week we need to go out firing and play as confident and strong as we did last week. Awards went to Makaylah (Acky's Deli) and Olivia H (Donut King). 17 & Under: Great game girls. A er a long few weeks off, it was great to see you all arrive eager to be back out on court. Your voice and confidence in each other are star ng to show more on court which is fantas c to see and we hope this will con nue to build into finals. Our structures across are star ng to

come together with you all developing an understanding of these, especially as you are all beginning to really implement these into our game. Let's con nue to build on this momentum and take it into this week. Thanks to Kelly for scoring, Ebony for umpiring, and Tam for being primary carer. Awards went to Mae Johnston (Harper & Co), McKenzie Bevan (Muffin Break), Charlie Muhovics (Mad Penguin), and Mackenzie Job (Boost Juice). B Reserve: Well done girls, great job. We had lots of great passages of play as a team and looking a er each other. It's great to see all of us combining well together as a team, with players playing different posi ons, and suppor ng each other. Lets get out and train hard and come out firing against Hatherleigh. Thanks to Georgia for scoring and Lynne for umpiring. Awards went to Amy (Beachport Pub), Mia (Carapace), Karen (Café Melzar), Tess (Heaven on a Hanger), and Breanna (Harper & Co). B Grade: Great game from our team. A whole team effort with lots of highlights. Our goalies shot accurately and with confidence. Our centre court players moved the ball quickly and were an op on if our goalies needed. We did a great job in defence keeping front spot and ge ng lots of intercepts. Awards went to Kelly Gamble, Maddie Wilkinson, Bri Scanlon, and Zali Burns. A Reserve: What a strong win girls a er a couple of weeks off. Claudia and Lauren combining well together and finishing off strong. Great pressure from Ella and Layla down the court causing many turnovers. Well done Mackenzie for stepping up and helping us out, your pressure on the WA was great. Fresh legs in Jemma at half me and we li ed once again all over the court. Heidi and Stacey once again worked relessly in defence. Thanks to Dawn for umpiring and Sam for scoring. Awards went to Stacey (Mad Penguin), Layla (Boost Juice), Lauren (Melzars Café), and Claudia (Dentons Sportspower). A Grade: A er a long few weeks off it was great to be back out on court. Despite a slow start in the first quarter we found our feet and regained our confidence in each other. Our second quarter gave us a good break on the scoreboard and allowed us space to prac ce our structures and what we have been working on at training. Good to see us con nue to build across the game and play out 4 quarters of netball. It was great to have Ann back out on court a er some me away on holidays, and we excitedly welcomed Tam into the team. Thanks to Heidi for scoring and Tanya for being our primary carer. Awards went to Ann (Dentons Sportspower), Eb (Caltex), Sarah (Harper & Co), and Laura (Muffin Break).

Junior 2: It was wonderful to have the full team back together last week against Port Mac. We looked confident from the start with everyone applying pressure in defence, making ball movement tough for the opposi on. As each quarter went on, the li le Eagles made more definite leads and started finding their voice to let teammates know where they are. Girls were encouraged to use strong hands to intercept and chase up any loose balls and by the end of the game this was happening all over the court. All players did their bit to create space and as they started to make quicker decisions, dominated in a ack. The enthusiasm and teamwork displayed meant that the whole team received the award! Junior 1: Well done again girls. We started off well but the second and third quarters saw us a li le bit nervous with such tall opponents. To your credit though every single one of you stayed strong and adjusted back to your own game to play with the confidence I know you all have. Your voices down the court in the last quarter was so great to hear and there was turnover a er turnover from being aware of where the ball was and having your eyes up. I'm really proud of each of you coming out and giving your all a er a rocky few weeks with Covid. Well done again girls. Thank you to Anne for ming and primary caring. Awards: Scarle Zalme (Sportspower), Alirah Bowman (Corner Clip), Whole Team (Ladies Commi ee). 13 & Under: The return to the netball court saw a very compe ve match against Port MacDonnell. A er being up by 3 at quarter me, the second and third quarters were even with only two goals in it at three quarter me. It was pleasing to see our girls produce a strong final quarter to run out winners by eight goals. Good team play in a ack was finished off with accurate shoo ng. We worked hard in defence to cause many turnovers but o en failed to capitalise on the good work with loose passes. Our focus will again be on passing and ming our leads when transi oning the ball. Ginos Pizza awards – Sylvie, Poppy. 15 & Under: Well it was nice to get back onto the court! We got off to a great start having a 14/9 lead at the first break. Our second quarter saw a lapse of concentra on and we let them back into the game. We started running away from the ball and passing far too long. When we went back to coming forward for the ball this works much be er for us. In the third quarter we played some fantas c netball, our goalies moved well crea ng space and shot with accuracy, Deni and Tori delivered the ball into them with pa ence and precision passes, our defenders had Pt Mac under loads of pressure and created many turnovers for us and this gave us a very comfortable lead again. But overall in the 4 quarters of netball we only won 2 of them. We need to work on pu ng together 4 consistent quarters with everyone staying focused. Thank you again to Kalli, Alex and Poppy from the 13s helping us fill a side. Awards: Dentons Sportspower: Deni for her pa ence in a ack and finally finding aggression at mes, which was great to see! HLC and Corner Clip: Bella who went to the opposite end of the court to her usual and played a very strong defence role causing many turnovers. 17 & Under: Well what a way to comeback from lockdown. Our game was consistent throughout all four quarters, with 100% effort put in from all players. Defence worked hard to create turnovers and apply pressure over every shot. Our midcourt girls drove hard and fast, having full control of the drive into our a acking end. Our goalies were pu ng up shots from just about every point in the circle and effec vely rewarding everyone's hard

work. Our talk and posi ve a tudes really pulled us away from the opposi on, it was great to see the girls really enjoy being out there together. Well done girls, what a great win! Best players: Jasmyne Bellinger (Corner Clip), Rosie Ne le (Ladies Commi ee). B Reserve: A great team game, we started out strong and played four consistent quarters of netball. Indi and Dizey both shot well, both girls pu ng up some great shots. Dizey really worked hard with her ming and it paid off. Staci and Sally in C both ran hard and took many intercep ons, the drive down the court was excep onal. Along with Amy and Michelle in WA, all feeding the ball well with pa ence. We were much be er releasing the ball and not crowding the space. Defensively Karen, Georgia and Fee worked relessly all three rebounding strong and crea ng many turnovers. Awards was a team award, all nine players showing posi vity, strength and determina on. With only 2 games le un l finals everyone needs to con nue to dig deep, work hard and finish the round feeling posi ve, believing in ourselves and each other. Thank you to Kerry for primary caring and being my sounding board, I really appreciate your help and knowledge. Nic Skeer for scoring and Nic Thomas for ming. B Grade: A er playing Pt Mac last me we knew we had to be not just physically tough but mentally tough as well. Pt Mac are a loud team on the court and at mes we let them in our head but to our credit we held strong. Our first and last quarters were our best quarters. At mes we chose the wrong op on and that is something we need to dy up coming into the pointy end of the season. With Ellie and Maddie out, Georgia stepped up and played a great strong game at GS with Leila at GA who oozed confidence being the main goalie for the day and shot well. Defence in Jess, Ella and Nic were strong and hard at it and our mid-court in Nat, Meg and Lacey worked their bu s off. Our win was a great team effort by all eight players. Let's keep working hard and have that belief. A Reserve: A must win game for us last week to keep the finals dream alive unfortunately didn't go our way. Port Mac were quick off the blocks, ge ng an early lead as we took me to se le into posi ons. Lucy and Eliza had plenty of run in the centre and were holding strong on the ring, while Issy and Lucy worked relessly in defence. However, Port Mac's height was hard to match down both ends of the court, their holding game and shoo ng accuracy also making it difficult for us. We had some great passages of play, with open ball movement down the court but it was a game of catch up and in the end they got too far in front. It was encouraging to see the team con nuing to apply defensive pressure, chase up loose balls and run out the game. Awards went to Isabel and Lucy Chant for their persistence and tenacity in defence. A Grade: A much-improved performance from the first round. We started the game strong and managed to keep the intensity up for the majority of the game. The two Maddie's had fabulous defensive games working together to con nually put pressure on the shooters. Kes and Lace gave us our best goal return of the season, and our mid-court of Larz, Sarah and Tegz were super crea ve in transi on. We played around with some moves in the final quarter and did take a while to adjust so we need to work on switching on right away. Rosie off the bench slo ed in nicely at WD and showed plenty of confidence. Overall a pre y good day out. Awards: Maddie R (Somerset Hotel), Lacey (Kelsey Wight Fitness), Lara (HLC). Thanks Sam for scoring and Kalli for ming.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Another hard-fought game by our li lest girls in freezing, windy condi ons. Brilliant job to them all for all ge ng out there on court. We had some great passing and leading, but we s ll need to work on finding the space and quick passes. Hungry Jacks award went to Daisy for staying on her player and applying that pressure. Well done! Junior 1: You played a great defensive game. I could see everyone s cking to their players well and contes ng every pass. We managed lots of turnovers which forced Kalangadoo to work hard each end of the court. Well done, it was a great team effort. Encouragement awards went to Tameka Long (Hungry Jacks) and Summer O'Brien (McDonald's). 13 & Under: The girls had a tough game against Kalangadoo; however, they came out strong and never gave up. We moved the ball well in our a acking end which allowed us to get some goals on the board. Our defence was strong which created many turnovers and intercepts, we just need to look a er the ball more when we get a touch in defence. We backed each other up as it was very wet and even had some talk in the court! We changed up our normal posi ons in the final quarter and the girls had heaps of fun but s ll played their own game. Keep pu ng in the effort and keep having fun girls, we are all so proud of how far you have come. Awards went to Summah Brown and Ebony Gardin for never giving up and their excellent work in defence. 15 & Under: Don't let this game get you down girls. I gave a couple of our valuable players a rest that we rely on a lot in a game but it also gave others the opportunity to step up. It was great to see Demi, Holly and Lailah who worked extra hard always backing up their team. A er half me we decided to try some new posi ons that we don't normally play. Kailah showed she was able to transi on to centre and almost scored a goal at GS, Kaitlyn at WD moved the ball out of defence well and Ebony showed us her versa lity being very capable in the defence ring. I hope you all enjoyed this

NETball club notes opportunity and we will give some other players a go in the following weeks. 17 & Under: Coming up against a much more experienced team, everyone stayed posi ve and fought un l the final whistle. There were lots of posi ves to take out of the game. We looked like we are finally star ng to gel a bit more as a team and have a be er me out there and not worry about the scoreboard. Tayla had a ripper first half making it look like it wasn't windy out there. Madi, Jade and Hayley provided the drive through the mid court with Keelie and Tayla conver ng in terrible shoo ng condi ons. Ella and Charlo e got hands to plenty of the ball in defence with rebounds. Awards went to Tayla and Charlo e B Reserve: What a day to play netball in, we came up against a very strong opponent in Kalangadoo. The wet and windy weather had us making lots of mistakes that they were able to capitalise on. We s ll have to work on coming forward, in front of our players and mee ng the ball instead of wai ng for it. Great work to the goalies Emily Jennings and Jasmine Taylor who are really star ng to work together as a shoo ng team. It was a terrible day for shoo ng but both of these girls s ll managed great accuracy B Grade: We knew coming into this game we would have to be at our best taking on the top of the ladder Magpies. A close affair for most of the match we had some great movement despite the condi ons, we should be pleased with the way we played and are working well as a team. We need to work hard and get some momentum in our favour coming into finals. A Grade: A disappoin ng result girls but with any loss comes opportunity to work on the things that didn't work our way. We are proud that each and every one of you puts in so much effort at trainings week in and week out and this one just wasn't our game. Keep pu ng in the hard yards though girls because it will fall our way next me. This week we can focus on our game plan and come out firing. Awards went to Emma and Jami.

Junior 1: Great start to the game a er having 2 weeks off, you improved heaps from last me we played. We played some great defence with different combina ons. Some great shots at goals too. Donut King - Lucy played an excellent game in WD got lots of intercepts. McDonald's Ruby also played a great defensive game with good rebounding. 13 & Under: Great effort all. How good is it to be back playing netball a er two weeks off. Unfortunately, we again had a slow start being outscored by 7 goals in the first. We slowly caught up being four down at half me. Our third and last quarters were hard fought, and both were even. We certainly had our chances, but result had no effect on us making finals which was our aim and we have achieved this first step. Great game by Kaylee in defence her best yet hopefully can con nue this form. Kiara tried hard and con nued to fight for possession. Skye took many heavy knocks and was dominant in a ack while s ll ge ng turnovers. Madison held well yet again and was on shoo ng goals from a distance. CJ had a brilliant game especially at WA. Gemma, Analeigh and Holly received turnovers which is pleasing to see. Thanks Ella for si ng bench. Well done. One more minor game so let's finish with a strong four quarter effort. Donut King Award Kaylee. McDonald's award Kiara. 17 & Under: Last week was a tough game for the girls which we knew was going to be, but the girls went out in the first quarter with a lot of fight and played an amazing quarter. We had good defensive pressure down the court and were moving well which was really good to see. The girls had a lot of talk on the court and were backing up each other and chasing loose balls. The defenders worked well together and got many intercepts. Our shooters came front on many occasions to

get the ball which was good to see them communica ng which each other on the court se ng up many good plays. Thanks to the parents that helped last week and the girls that sat bench. Awards: Hungry Jacks - Montanna McKay, Donut King - Tannayah Cranwell. B Reserve: Back to it a er a couple weeks off saw us with just a bare team of 7, and minimal trainings over the last few weeks dues to mul ple reasons made for a hard game from the get-go. They came out hard and took us the first quarter to find our feet. Some brilliant plays and things we did in our trainings could be seen during the game. Great work at both ends which showed the poten al we have. Outstanding work from Kate as she gave it to her GD as much as she was being pushed, she moved well and move the ball into the ring extremely well. Mid court standing up a er being held back a li le in the first quarter. Overall, for our second to last game everyone game 100% and hopefully we can make our imprint this week against Tantanoola. Good job B Res. 1st best Kate Clayfield, 2nd best Maxi Smith. B Grade: Bad luck girls, we were hoping for a win a er a close game the first me we meet, however with a different line up we just could not match the Burr. Ellie and Simone combined well in the circle once again and they provided many opportuni es in the first half under extreme defensive pressure. Simone you have grown so much over the year and your confidence has grown, you ran well all day, provided a drive into the ring and used your voice well done. At the other end Jemma and Stevie gave it their all applying pressure and rebounding strong. You two are a real great asset to the team and are star ng to really work well and listen to each other! Best players: Tamara Ploenges and Simone Skratek.

ROUND 16 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW NANGWARRY v MOUNT BURR Nangwarry once again started with another different line up with Hayley Vanderhorst also out for the rest of the season. Jemma Parsons stepping into GK and Taysha James from A Res into WD. Both teams started off slow with no one scoring for the first few minutes. Mt Burr finally ge ng first on the board. Mt Burr moved the ball around well in a ack finding space in the circle and finishing off well. Nangwarry’s defence really put on pressure ge ng some turnovers, but struggled to bring it out of defence. Nangwarry was working over me in a ack to get the ball to their goalies. Nangwarry 8 Mt Burr 15. Mt Burr came out strong this quarter with Heidi Clark really pu ng pressure on Nangwarry goalies along with Maddi Hagge . Cassie Dinnison and Ange Pra working hard to keep the movement going and finding space for their feeders to deliver. Laura Schultz drove hard out of defence and was feeding Ebony Clark the focal point in goals with Clark finishing off with high accuracy. Nangwarry 16 Mt Burr 36. Both teams remained unchanged. Nangwarry’s Taysha James was causing havoc in the Mt Burr a ack ge ng many ps around the ring, Carly Ploenges picking up any loose balls. Parsons con nued to put pressure on E. Clark ge ng plenty of touches, but E. Clark using her experience and high shoo ng accuracy was hard to stop. Nangwarry con nued to work hard with Kylie Heaver and Ann Guye having a good tussle, Heaver being a strong feeder into Dinnison and Pra , who were moving well but under pressure from H. Clark and Hagge who jumped on any rebounds. Nangwarry 21 Mt Burr 58. Mt Burr con nued to apply their good defence pressure turning many balls through Nangwarry centre pass. Schultz s ll running well for her team. E. Clark s ll dominated in goals working well with fellow goalie Sarah Nulty. They worked ball around with pa ence. Ploenges, Parsons and James were ge ng turnovers but struggled at mes to bring it into Nangwarry’s a ack. Dinnison con nued to provide opportuni es for her team moving well even under the pressure of Hagge and H. Clarke. Nangwarry at mes were pa ent and found the holes they needed to their goalies. Any missed passes or goals Mt Burr jumped on and transi oned quickly down the court making it hard for Nangwarry’s defence. Injury was called to Ava Smith-Muhovics bringing on Tamara Hagge . This didn't change anything, if anything gave more and pa ent experience in their a ack line. Mt Burr just too strong for Nangwarry. Final score Nangwarry 30 Mt Burr 78. KONGORONG v GLENCOE

The first quarter of the game saw an even contest between the Hawks and Murphies which resulted in a fast paced, clean first quarter of netball. Kongorong seemed to connect well having found an a acking lineup that's beginning to gel but the relentless pressure of the Murphies just got them over the line giving them a lead of 2 heading into quarter me. Glencoe put their foot down in the second quarter, with defensive pressure li ed all over the court, as they successfully ra led the young Hawks and out scored them 15 to 6 for the quarter. Glencoe shooters Caitlin Hentschke and Laura Edwards were at the forefront of Glencoe’s second quarter push, combining well to work through Kongorong’s defensive pressure and push their lead out to 12 at half me. Emily Lightbody, back into the team a er a month off, and Georgia Bald con nued to work hard in defence giving their team as much opportunity as possible but all of Kongorong’s hard work seemed to go to waste as the composure and experience of Glencoe, led by the strong presence of Donna Jaeschke through the mid court, con nued to cause havoc to Kongorong’s transi on as they couldn't convert with any gained possession. The Murphies defensive combo of Sarah Edwards and Emily Thompson started to li even more in the third quarter which helped their side push out their lead out to 24 at 3 quarter me. The young Hawks pushed and tried to make something out of their game, but the class of the Murphies side had the legs and con nued to run off with the game. Both teams fought hard defensively and Kongorong showed passages of real poten al and talent, but again they were outplayed resul ng in an overwhelming amount of scoring a empts going to the Murphies, allowing them to further push out their margin in the last quarter to give themselves a 31 goal win. The final score was Kongorong 23 to Glencoe 54. HATHERLEIGH v PORT MACDONNELL A er 2 weeks off it was clear both sides were eager to be back playing, strong defensive pressure and quick transi on allowed the home-side to jump out to take a 13 goal lead going into the first break. The first break saw the Demons make a change, as the home-side remained unchanged going into the second quarter. Hatherleigh con nued to control the game with quick and fast transi ons from end to end. The Demons’ defence found it hard to stop Keston Green and Lacey Haines who are in great shape coming into the business end of the season. Port MacDonnell’s a ack struggled to find space in the goal circle with Maddie Redman and Maddie Pulmer making the Bay girls work hard for every possession. Hatherleigh took a 17 goal lead going into

the main break, the home side used this opportunity to switch Pulmer and Redman as the Demons remained unchanged. Both sides con nued to contest all over the court with Michelle Moore and Sarah Faulkner both provided plenty of drive for their sides. The Eagles full court intensity stepped up which gave them the opportunity to con nue to capitalise and extend their lead going into the last term. The final quarter saw the home side change things up with Lara MacGregor taking the GD bib, youngster Rosie Ne le taking the WD bib and Maddie Pulmer swung into GA posi on with Haines taking a rest. This took Hatherleigh some me to adjust to the changes, but they s ll con nued to control the game. Port Mac’s Brooke Williams helped her side chip away with her accurate shoo ng but it wasn't enough as the home side ran away 30 goal winners. Hatherleigh best players: Lacey Haines and Maddie Redman. Port MacDonnell’s best players: Brooke Williams and Michelle Moore. ROBE v KALANGADOO Si ng on top of the ladder, Kalangadoo were always going to be tough for Robe. However the Robe girls played consistent netball and played a great team game. Kalangadoo came out strong with their a ack line working the ball in well to the goalies. Robe's Georgia Perkins rebounded well and made use of any missed goals by Kalangadoo's Melissa Russell and Abbey Duncan. Kalangadoo being up by 10 at quarter me. The second quarter saw both teams shoo ng quite accurately, however Kalangadoo's Melissa Russell shot 20 of their goals, only missing 2 for the quarter. Kalangadoo's pressure down the court made it hard for Robe to get the ball through. Which saw Kalangadoo increase their lead to 25 at half me. A er a couple of changes at half me for Robe, Kim Ross came on at WA and Asha Pe t moved into WD, which gave more drive onto the ring and Robe seemed to be able to work the ball into the goalies easier, with Robe's Tori Gluyas shoo ng accurately with 10 goals for the quarter. Kalangadoo being up by 36 at three quarter me. The last quarter saw a couple of changes from both sides, with Kalangadoo's defenders Mikala Pi and Chelsea Croser swapping posi ons and Robe's Sammy Telfer coming back on at WD. This was a much even quarter with Robe figh ng hard with there only being 2 goals difference in the final quarter. Best players for the game were Tori Gluyas and Sarah Laurie for Robe, and Abbey Duncan and Melissa Russell for Kalangadoo.
