Today against Kalangadoo Dylan Childs will play his 150th senior club game for the Glencoe Football Club. A Murphy through and through, Dylan, or Gecks as he is commonly known, has been a consistent presence around the footy club since star ng his football career back in 2004 with the Junior Colts side. It didn't take long for Dylan to experience success at the junior level, playing in the 2005 Junior Colts premiership side and then following it up with a Senior Colts premiership in 2010. As well as team success, Dylan also achieved individual recogni on in 2008, winning the Junior Colts Best and Fairest while also captaining the side. Dylan made his A Grade debut with the Murphies in 2011 and since then has become a strong presence around the league featuring in the 2015-2019 Mid SE Interleague sides and Mid SE Teams of the Year. In 2016 Dylan was A Grade Runner-up Best and Fairest for the Murphies, which he then capitalised on in 2019, taking out his first A Grade Best and Fairest Award for the club. He is also con nuing to have a stellar year this year and would be expected to feature very high up in the vo ng for the same award. Gecks is well known for his elite fitness and hard running all over the ground and the only thing he takes more pride in than his first class delivery is his very fit rig. Dylan is also a strong presence off the field around the club, coaching the Senior Colts side from 2016-2020 and also being a commi ee member for the last three years. We wish Dylan all the best today for his 150th senior club game and look forward to him donning the maroon and gold for many more years to come.

braedon lipscombe The Glencoe Football Club would like to congratulate Braedon Lipscombe who is playing his 50th senior game for the Murphy’s today. Braedo first played Junior Colts for the club in 2011 progressing though the Senior Colts to play senior grade football. He played his first senior game in the Reserves in 2016 and has consistently made himself available for selec on every week. Braedo is a regular on the training track and is a valuable member of the club. A highlight for him in his last match was a fantas c contested pack mark in the goal square from which he booted a much needed goal. We wish Braedon all the best for his milestone game and hope to see him at the Murphy’s for many years to come.
VIEW FROM THE HILL Well, we have finally got here – the end of the minor round and the final four is just about complete in all grades, except for the Reserves. There may also be some minor shuffling of posi ons, and that all important double chance spots will also be up for grabs in a couple of grades. I'm sure phone calls will be made soon a er matches to try and figure out if sides have won by enough to play off in the major round or figure out where they have finished. To last week's games and down at the Bay, Port MacDonnell hosted their seaside cousins in Robe, but by all reports there was no love lost on the field. Port MacDonnell won the toss and quite rightly kicked towards the clubroom end and with a 2-3 goal wind advantage at their backs. They welcomed back their captain and ruck master in Daron McElroy a er an extended break and he took no me in stamping his dominance in the centre. Port MacDonnell opened up with the first four goals of the match, before Robe even looked like ge ng it into their 50. Will MacDonald on the wing for Port MacDonnell was having a field day early thanks largely to the game plan of dropping his opponent into the backline a er the centre bounce. This did nothing other than to allow MacDonald free reign to roam and pick up possessions at will (pun intended) and feed his forwards who didn't let the side down. At quarter me the home side led by 20pts. The second quarter was a very even affair, but you always felt that Port MacDonnell had their opponents measure, as their forward entries were a li le more structured and they played their home ground to advantage. The premiership quarter was all Port MacDonnell as they con nued to apply that all important scoreboard pressure kicking 4-2 to Robe's 1-5. Only in the last quarter was Robe able to outscore Port MacDonnell, but it was too li le too late, with Port MacDonnell running out victors by 28pts. Brandon Newton and Jake Turner led the goal kickers for the home side with 4 each and Dylan Bromley boo ng home 2. Be er players for Port MacDonnell went the way of Tim Sullivan, Jake Schleter, McElroy, Ned Wilke, Bromley, and Turner. For Robe their shining light up forward was Jack Sneath who kicked 6 of their 11 goals and Billy Laurie with 2. Best players named for Robe were Laurie, Sneath, Jack Kelly, Jasper Barri , Jordan Hentschke and Kaden Woodward. The loss plummeted Robe from second to fourth and the very real likelihood of mee ng a full strength and in form Hatherleigh in the cutthroat 1st semi-final in a couple of weeks' me. Over at Kalangadoo, and the boys were up and about to ensure favourite son Chris Mules' 300th game – that was actually played against Robe a couple of weeks ago, was celebrated in style at his home ground. They were also keen to put the polish on an already sparkling season, that is just about to get to the pointy end. Not o en you see a magpie massacre a hawk, but on Saturday at Pie Park that is what we all were witness to. Kongorong although looking compe ve on the scoreboard at quarter me, were never really in the match and the difference in the two teams in skill and ball delivery was clearly evident across all four quarters. Michael Krieger had a field day down forward boo ng home 9 goals to lead the goal kicking award by 17, Tye McManus another young livewire
around the ground kicked 4 with Lachy Jones and Jus n Mansell both boo ng home 2. Best players named for Kdoo were Krieger, Jones, Josh LaRocca, Andrew Stone, Sam McManus, and Chris Mules in his 301st match. On the Kongorong side of the ledger, they were all single goal kickers and be er players named being Jake Whi y, Ma Weistra, Carl Slape, Brad Long, Fraser Brewster and Liam Whi y. Nangwarry travelled to Tantanoola for their last game of season 2021 with just a li le bit of confidence that they might be able to rally and make a compe ve game of it however, Tantanoola weren't about to let the opportunity of a rare win in 2021 slip through their fingers. Tantanoola, aided by a strong wind advantage in the first quarter completely dominated play and were never really challenged. The game was marred by an ugly melee which resulted in two red cards, two yellow cards and a blood rule send off, which took the umpires a month of Sundays to complete the paperwork. This incident reflects poorly on both clubs at the end of what has been a difficult season for both clubs, so the less said about this the be er. The Tantanoola players lined up for goal kicking prac ce which saw Cam Saint kick 4, Jak Ryan, Roy Osborne and Troy Ha 3, Alec Roberts, Hayden Brown, Marc Roberts, Brandon Pi s and Chris Oliver all pos ng 2. Be er players named for Tantanoola were Alec Roberts, Jordan Ha , Darcy Pink, Saint, Osborne and Braydn Reilly. For Nangwarry coach Luke Thomson was their shining light up forward with 6. Best players went the way of Isaac Raymond, Tom Vanderhorst, Luke Thomson, Joel Virtanen, Jake McKeon and Logan Gibbs. Hatherleigh made the short trip up the hill to Mt Burr hoping to keep their good form and momentum rolling as the business end of the season nears. Hatherleigh got off to a good start applying that all important scoreboard pressure and were able to extend their lead to 5 goals early in the match and pre y much controlled the game therea er. Hatherleigh's half back line was dominant all game, stopping a lot of forward movement of Mt Burr and their on-ball division was on top from the get go, denying Mt Burr possession and had them chasing jumpers for most of the day. Mt Burr had a couple of good winners through their half back line in James and Josh Wallis, but they were few and far between. With Hatherleigh ge ng plenty of the centre clearances, they took advantage of the small oval ge ng the ball quickly into their forwards with Sam Telfer finishing the day with 5 goals and leading well all game. Hatherleigh were convincing winners by 69pts and are peaking at the right me of the season. Sam Telfer led the way for Hatherleigh with 5 goals, Jake Wight 3 and Jake Dowdy and Louis Brown 2 each. Best players for the Eagles went the way of Mitch Pulmer, Joe Ferguson-Lane, Sam Telfer, Zach Jones, Sam Warring and Gerald McGrath. No mul ple goal kickers for Mt Burr on a very dirty day for the Mozzies and only James Wallis, Josh Fiebig and Josh Wallis named as their best players. To todays last round of matches, and the top four teams play the bo om four teams, so if results go as expected we shouldn't see too many changes to ladder posi ons at 5pm tonight. Kongorong host Port MacDonnell and they will
vie for the Bruce Lightbody memorial trophy. Kongorong's season never really got going and they would love nothing more than to upset the apple cart with a strong finish to season 2021 by defea ng their arch rivals and near neighbours Port MacDonnell. Only problem is, I think the cart has bolted. Port MacDonnell won't let this game slip as they currently have a game advantage over Robe and Hatherleigh for that all important second spot and a second-semi final berth. Port MacDonnell with their abundance of talls will just be too skilled, too quick and too experienced for the young Hawk ou it even on their home deck, Port MacDonnell by plenty. Mt Burr make the trip to Robe for their last match of the season and an upset win here for the Mozzies is not out of the realms of possibility. Robe will be looking to bounce back a er losing their last two matches since returning a er lockdown. They will be looking to regain some winning momentum as they will more than likely meet a rampaging Hatherleigh unit in the first semi-final at Mt Burr next week. Both teams match up fairly even on paper, it will just be the mindset of the players that will determine the result. Robe need the win to regain confidence leading into next week's final, but Mt Burr are a proud club and last week's demoralising defeat at the hands of Hatherleigh will be seen as unacceptable and I expect a much be er effort from them this week. It won't be enough, but it might just put the mozzie amongst the roosters, so to speak! Hatherleigh will host Tantanoola and the Eagle juggernaut will con nue along its merry way. It is no secret that Hatherleigh lost a large number of players to injury during the season, but their depth across the en re club to be able to cover the losses and s ll have all four teams in finals is an outstanding achievement. Now with a near full compliment of players to choose from the only problems they have are at the selec on table. Tantanoola on the other hand will be looking to reproduce their earlier form against Hatherleigh which saw them go down by just 5pts in round 9, but by the same token the side they come up against today will be vastly different. Hatherleigh will win and win well, and there is nothing like winning form going into a final. In the last match of the minor round Glencoe will host arch rivals Kalangadoo for the Max Ma hews Memorial Cup, and nothing would please the Murphies more than to inflict the first defeat of the season on Kalangadoo and take home Max's Cup. I can just hear the Kdoo supporters now – 'Tell'em their dreaming, love!' Glencoe played some pre y good footy in their last ou ng, but in saying that it was against a depleted Kongorong ou it and with no real forward structure to speak of, the Kalangadoo defenders will have a field day. Up the other end Michael Krieger will be prowling the forward line ready to reward his team with his trademark goals from every possible situa on and if by chance he has an off day, then there are plenty in the side that are more than capable of picking up the slack. Kalangadoo's strength really is their evenness across the en re team. They rarely have a passenger on game day and they play for each other, something a lot of clubs need to take note of. It will be Kalangadoo's day today and Glencoe can put the boots away for the next six months.

A er a couple of tough weeks with lockdowns and being unable to par cipate in trainings and organised sport, there were a lot of enthusias c faces at Kongorong to get back into the swing of Saturday footy. Junior Colts: The young Murphies were as keen as mustard to get back onto the field a er a lengthy layoff and looking forward to having a kick around with their mates. They always knew they would have to be at their best to knock off a talented Hawks side at their home ground. Although ba ling hard all day and keeping each quarter rela vely close, the Kongorong side proved to have a bit too much firepower up forward while also giving up very few points down the other end of the ground. Lachlan Brierly has truly found some stellar form in the second half of the year and once again took out best player honours for the Murphies, while another familiar name in Kaleb Price was judged second best, and did his best to prevent a shutout by kicking the team's only goal for the day. Sammy Haase was like a dog a er a bone all day, hun ng the footy with relish a er not knowing what to do with himself for two weeks without sport, while it was great to see Kallan Price back in the best a er struggling with some knee issues for most of the year. Maybe the slick new haircut has reduced the weight the knees have had to carry around. At 5th best was the Flying Doormat in Brodie 'Poida' Burdon, another lad who has found some good form at the pointy end of the year while young Marcus McGrath con nues to perform consistently slo ng in for 6th best. Senior Colts: The two weeks off put the Senior Colts in a posi on where finals were s ll in the equa on, but with the bye coming up, it would be a must win game against the team they would be ba ling for fourth spot with. Both teams were aware of what was at stake, with the footy having to be hard won in a ght, closely fought first quarter. Both teams had their opportuni es to put scores on the board, but it was the Hawks who took their chances and kicked accurately to lead at quarter me by 8 points although having two less scoring shots. The Murphy lads fought hard and con nually applied the pressure, but they found it hard to post the majors, falling behind by 20 points at the main change with 8 scoring shots for both sides. The second half saw the Hawks' accuracy in front of goal wane and the Murphy's improve, coming home with a wet sail, but as has been the case all year, it wasn't quite enough to get over the line. 'G' Ros-Smith was once again in the thick of it showing great poise and skill around the contests to be named first best, while Isaac Mulraney also con nued his good form from before the break to feature at second best for the day. Aiden Hurley put that raking le boot to good use slo ng a couple of important goals to cap off some strong work around the ground to snag third best and another bloke that has been a picture of consistency in the second half of the year in Timmy Mutch took out fourth. Cam Brooks con nues to play consistent, team based footy which earned him fi h best, while Shane Longhurst played his best game of the year to feature in the best for the first me. Reserves: Performing surgery on someone and having their life in your hands, that's a pre y hard job. A er a week of home learning with their kids, a lot of parents realised teaching is a pre y hard job. Or what about being deployed overseas with the military, that's a pre y tough gig. All this pales in comparison to the Ressies coach. A er two

weeks off the kids were champing at the bit to get back on the field, but it seems that the earthly popula on of adult aged sportsmen had halved in this me. With Father's Day on the horizon, maybe it's me we consider 'Na onal Ressies Coach Day' to shine a light on the hardest gig on the planet. Anyway, a er ge ng to the end of his li le black book, where Whi a found the entry 'Bevo's Knees' hiding way down the bo om, a willing team took the field to give their all and ba le it out against a skilful Kongorong side s ll ba ling it out to play finals footy. It was once again inspiring to see the young fellas backing up for another game to get a team on the field for a game, and also Big Bevo, playing against the wishes of his knees (or lack thereof) to take to the field to help out the lads for the day. Best player for the day went to Jezza who saw plenty of the ball all day and second best was another reliable bloke who gave his all in Marcus McGrath. Josh Agars has con nued to play hard, consistent footy which was no different on this day to feature at third best and Taylor McGrath followed in the old man's footsteps at 4th best. Rounding out the best players was Chicko Finnis who relished the me off to get the body right and finally the big man coming out of re rement, playing a fantas c game to secure 6th best was big Bevo Lipscombe. A Grade: The A Grade went over to Kongorong looking to avenge their loss at home to the Hawks in the previous round. The lads started out in a posi ve way, controlling the flow of the play for a majority of the first quarter, pu ng on enough scoreboard pressure to lead by a couple of goals at the first change. The second quarter saw both sides kicking the 3 majors, but it was Kongorong proving more accurate in front of the goals, registering only one behind for the half, which kept them within striking distance. The 3rd quarter proved the difference in what was an otherwise ght affair with the Murphies banging on 8 goals to 2 which the Hawks were not able to recover from, seeing the Glencoe side emerge victors by a 10 goal margin. Dylan Childs hasn't looked back since his brief injury layoff a few rounds back and would be the clubhouse favourite to take out his second consecu ve best and fairest award. The bloke featuring at second best might have some say in this ma er however, with Pa y Mitchell once again featuring high up on the list, con nuing his consistent season. Third best was Dane 'Dorpa' Paproth who is enjoying quite possibly his best season to date with the club while Carey Megaw took out fourth best once again displaying a high level of fitness and hard running over the ground. Robbie Smith played a very solid game and snagged a trio of goals to get the nod from Frazer at 5th best while Jack Edmonds popped up at 6th best, refreshed and healthy from the extended me off. This week sees a couple of milestones for the last game of the season with Braedo playing his 50th senior game at the club, and also Dylan Childs playing his 150th senior game at the club. We wish both these blokes all the best for their games today, as they are both great clubmen and deserve a good one today. It will also be great to see the premiership reunion day taking place at Glencoe this week, celebra ng past premierships and pu ng a nice cap on the end of the regular season.

Under 11: The Kalangadoo Junior Magpies con nue to improve and gain in confidence each and every week. There is some really pleasing football being played and the level of enthusiasm and passion for the game is high. The Under 11 numbers con nue to grow each week with about 23 players taking the field against Kongorong. It was by far the best performance from the young under 11’s with Leo’s tackling an absolute highlight of the match. The other most pleasing aspect of the game was the way the players are genuinely improving and looking for each other to move the ball forward. Junior Colts: The Under 14’s played some of their best football as well. Thanks to some East Gambier players who helped out on the day. The team performed really well together with the scoreboard not a true reflec on of the game. Coach Searlo was away last week. A huge thanks goes to Billy Galpin who took the reigns and did an excep onal job. Senior Colts: Timmy Brennan’s Senior Colts team played some of their best football in the first quarter and were really able to be compe ve and keep up with the stronger Kongorong side. Unfortunately, although player numbers were posi ve, Kongorong were too good on the day and especially in the second half. Tom Jerome, Connor Gen lie and Jet Mules con nued their great form which is why they are con nuing to get the opportunity to play A Grade football. B Grade: It was a really important game for the B Grade side and an almost must win to stay in touch with the final four. Thankfully Tyson and Pra y had the guys primed up and ready to 2nd qtr

roll. They started the game perfectly, with Tommy Searlo boo ng a goal within the first minute. It was probably the most rounded 4 quarter performances of the season. Be er players were Jamil, Mitch Muller and TJ. This week we need to beat Glencoe and Port Mac has to beat Kongorong for us to make the finals. Touch wood all goes to plan and we can con nue playing footy. A Grade: The A Grade side were up against Kongorong for what could have been a danger game. Although Kongorong did have some injuries our boys were absolutely clinical in their ball use and their ability to hit leading forward targets. Our back 6 again were amazing keeping the Hawks to only 4 goals in four quarters of football. Kriegs was absolutely amazing, he booted 10 goals and was in full control all game. Weapon, Tye, Sam, Mitch and Stoney fed the ball into Kriegs with ease making it a forward’s dream. This being said however every player on the ground contributed to what was a really solid 119-point win. All teams are looking forward to this weekend to complete the minor round, against neighbours Glencoe. The games between Kalangadoo and Glencoe are always well contested so they should lend themselves to another enjoyable day of football. A er the game, we will hold presenta ons at the Commercial Hotel and s r up Laney for one last me this season. Sunday we will draw our major raffle of the year, which is for a gold bullion valued at $2500! There are s ll ckets available for sale, reach out to Boxy or Reece. 4th qtr

KONGORONG PORT MACDONNELL
A massive thank you to all that a ended our mini auc on last week, and a shout out to all the wonderful sponsors for coming on board, a great night had by all. We also supported the 'Steve Noble Community Bus' and did a couple trips dropping patrons home and in to town, thankful to have such an asset available. Minis: Thanks to Kalangadoo for a very well organised and umpired game. Best players last week, you couldn't split Mitchell Bowering nd Aus n Bowering who both kicked 2 flashy goals and had pre y dominant games. Speaking of dominant, the parents picked Tyler again as the next best, he has been unstoppable all year and just look out as he gets older, bigger and improves his skills. Last best were a coaches pick, Angus Maidment and Sammy McInnes, who both set up well behind the ball and give us great rebound every week. There have been some very posi ve signs this year with us being lucky to have a strong core of players who will s ll be in the u11s next year and beyond. Looking forward to facing my mate Trav and his kids from the Bay this week and hopefully we can all finish the season on a high. Junior Colts: Travelling up the road to an undermanned and undersized Magpies it was a good chance to get some game me into players who haven't been able to get full games in. A massive thank you to the 8 boys who once again went and played across to make up numbers. It was men oned by both clubs later in the day on how well the players who come across go about their football and fit in with the teams to make a game of it and ensure everyone on both sides plays a full game. So to Luke, Deegan, Jacko, Ryan L, Zav, Logan, Blake L and Noah, thank you once again. From the outset we jumped out of the blocks and got an early score on the board. This allowed us to swap players around all over the ground and give them runs in different posi ons and even allowing several players to kick their 1st goal ever, or for the year, and they were celebrated by their teammates which is great to see everyone ge ng around each other. Was a challenge for the awards last week with so many players playing in a variety of posi ons. Best on ground a er kicking six goals and playing a part in many others, Tyler Richardson received the Swallow Drive Meats Award. Second best and Rocks Shop Award went to Kain Ashby who finally managed his 1st ever goal in footy, plus added a couple of extras during the game. The Rocks Tavern Award went to a young lad who grew in confidence as the game went on and was great to see him up and firing in Luke Allen, was in everything early, managed a goal and played a half for Kalangadoo. Nate Von Stanke-Dowie who once again never takes a backwards step and is always prepared to put his body over the ball in tough contests took home the Mick Mullan Encouragement Award. Another who was swapped into so many different posi ons throughout the day, always unselfishly looking for teammates in be er posi ons, Harrison Elletson received the Coaches Award. The Angelino Family Award again was a tough one as could have gone to anyone as all deserved an award but Blake Telford as another of our 1st year players who is always prepared to take on the contest and almost managed a couple of goals received the award. This week we welcome the Bay to our home ground, in the last game of the home and away rounds, and look to finish the regular season on a high. Go Hawks! Senior Colts: Last week we travelled to the Magpies. The 'Doo' were short on numbers and we were able to make a game by using some Junior Colts. Thanks to Graham and the boys for helping out and ge ng the day underway with 14-a-side. It meant plenty of running and open spaces. With Jake Whi y, Joel McConachie and Harry Langlands (first A Grade game) having senior du es we were s ll able to play well enough to come away with the 4 points and con nue on towards finals. First best went to ever reliable back flanker Riley McConachie. With the open spaces and plenty of room on the wing, the boy give us his all and was awarded the Ma hews Petroleum Award. Again - the big 'Texan' James Allen was a good target up forward, giving Bucko a chop out in the ruck and even a short s nt down back to free up some backmen for a run forward late in the game. This kid tries his heart out week in week out and never looks back. For his efforts he received the
2nd qtr
3rd qtr
Janeway Concre ng Award for second best. MT Wheels Award went to our li le fast running Tyler Richardson. He leads the league for goal kicking in the Junior Colts and stepped up to kick another 4 for us. The way this kid moves and can read the play is brilliant to watch. 4th best and the Badenoch's Deli Award for his flair and running skills went to none other than the show stopper in Shakielle 'Shakalicious' Von Stanke. What a show he put on in a quarter to bang home 4 and provide some entertainment to the crowd. 5th best was Will Von Stanke. He relished in a game where some of the older and bigger bodies were out for A Grade and was thrown the challenge of playing on ball. Willie moved well and was finding plenty of the pill around the stoppages and around the ground. The Spot On Fishing Award went to Kaige Buckingham for his reless efforts in the ruck. We told him at the start he had the role of rucking all day without much support and he accepted the challenge. He was up against a bigger body all day and played well. He was able to get some movement around the ground and stay in the contest to help provide some handballs and a ack on the footy when in dispute. Bring on the 'Bay' today and let's play our game style and hopefully come out on top at the final siren. Reserves: Not the result we were hoping for, and now the pressure is on to retain our spot in the top four. Last week Ryan Vickery con nued on with his good form to take out Commercial Hotel Award. Andrew 'Noddy ' Telford had a great game on the ball, and just kept on ge ng it, to take home the Killara Food Centre Award. Third best went to seasoned campaigner Mark 'Rowdy' Hunter, who worked relessly in the backline all day. Paechy con nues to lead the way on field, taking out fourth best and the Killara Food Centre Award, followed closely by Tommy Von Stanke and another solid performance. Riley Maconachie rounded out the best players, which is a huge effort a er playing a game in Senior Colts. We will need 100% effort by all players this week as we take on the Bay boys, we're not done yet! A Grade: We came up against a well-oiled machine in the Kalangadoo side, while we played some good footy for the first half, we then let silly mistakes sneak in and take over the dynamic of the game. For two weeks in a row youngster Jake Whi y got best, receiving the Commercial Hotel Award. Jake con nues to grow into the role of rucking, and is certainly developing his skill set, working hard both at training and on game day. Ma Weistra was all over the ground, strong overhead, taking home the Killara Food Centre Award, along with Carl Slape who played a good solid game, on returning from injury. Brad Long lived up to his nickname 'Yap-Yap' with plenty of on field talk, working hard across the wing all day, to receive the Club Tea Award. Fraser Brewster backed up a er another solid game last round, playing across the wing, to take home the Killara Food Centre Award. Special men on to Harry Langlands, who got the call up from Senior Colts to play his first A Grade game. Harry acqui ed himself well and didn't take a backwards step all day. We welcome Port MacDonnell today as we play for the Bruce Lightbody Memorial Shield. It’s been a while since we have held the shield alo , and nothing would please the Lightbody family more, than to see that change today. Two very important milestones in the A Grade today, with John Simkin playing in his 250th A Grade game for the club, and Marty Von Stanke playing his 200th senior game. It’s been a long, hard season for Simmo, but he has worked hard to get to this point, and the reward for effort is finishing off the season with his 250 A Grade games locked away, no mean feat and something that can never be taken away. Well done Simmo! Marty has played all his footy at Kongorong, and currently plays in the back line, where he always gives 100%. Named as Vice Captain this year, Marty leads by example both on and off the field. Well done Marty! Reserves celebrate their year today, down behind the goals, and the netballers have Ladies Punch Up, everyone pace yourselves. Good luck to all teams today, especially those vying for a final four spot, will be some good games played in both football and netball.

KONGORONG PORT MACDONNELL
Junior Colts: Last week we took on Robe for our last home game for the season. The boys probably played one of their best games for the season. Our opposi on were a quality ou it but we managed to play some quality team footy. The tackling pressure was great all day and the way the boys were able to move the ball out of conges on was great to see. Our last quarter was the best footy we have played all season, not only were we able to match it with our opposi on we were able to score a goal which was a huge improvement compared to the first round we played them. Our best players for the day were Harry Carroll who tackled hard all day and racked up the possessions. Wil Lewis played a great game on the ball taking some mely marks all over the ground. Jacob Spehr busted through packs and gave our onballers first use and played a great last quarter. Zane Lewis was in and under all day. Nash ran and tackled hard all day. Tyler Neal kicked a super goal for us and didn't he love that. Overall it has been great to see the boys improvement in the second half of the season, let’s keep up the great work and finish the season off against Kongorong this week. B Grade: A er a less than perfect trip to Hatherleigh we welcomed Robe for the second to last game of the minor round. To say the game was a must win was an understatement a er a cracking start to the season we have got the wobbles in the back half of the season. Basically, a win will nearly guarantee a spot in the finals and a loss will make finals a li le more challenging. We also celebrated a milestone with Ben O'Dine playing his 150th game for the club, Ben was originally recruited from East Gambier 12 years ago and stayed with the club ever since and has become a wonderful player and person for the Pt MacDonnell Football Club. The first half was a tough affair that wasn't par cularly high scoring, but the boys did manage to hold a very nice 3 goal lead into the break. This was very pleasing to the coaching staff that were a li le toey before the game. In the third quarter the boys clicked into the next gear and kicked 5 unanswered goals to take control of the game by the last change. In the last quarter with the game star ng to lose its fizz the scoring started to dry up again, however the boys s ll

managed to add 3 goals to 2 to close out a very nice win. Best for the day was Lennox Lewis who has added a lot to the side since joining the side mid-season, second best was the 150 gamer Ben O'Dine in his normal direct uncompromising style of football, third best was the feel-good story Alex Moore who suffered a very nasty hamstring injury in the first round but has come back in good form, fourth best was Liam Bo omley in his second game back a er a long layoff, fi h best was Ryan Von Stanke who also played a super game, sixth best was Rhys Timms with another excellent performance. This week we take on the old enemy Kongorong, in another must win game to consolidate a finals berth. These are always exci ng games with plenty of spice. A Grade: To say we needed a win in our round 17 home game against Robe, was an understatement, a er showing some rust in last week's game against Hatherleigh the senior boys were looking to fight back and give themselves a chance at the double chance and they got no be er chance that playing the side that took over second place. The first saw the boys jump out the blocks and look real crisp kicking the first 3 goals but being a 2 v 3 clash, you just knew that Robe would fight back and that they did but s ll we were lucky enough to hold a 3-goal lead at the half me. In the second half the game mirrored the first half with both teams ge ng a roll at different stages, thankfully the boys were able to extend the lead at the final siren to take a very nice 5 goal lead. Best for the game was Tim Sulivan in another fine performance, second best was Jake Schleter who keeps racking up these fine performances, third best was Daron McElroy in a splendid performance a er an extended break, fourth best was Ned Wilkie who also keeps on keeping on with fine performance a er fine performance, fi h best was Dylan Bromley, the Dyl Dyl show keeps rolling along this year, sixth best was Jake Turner a er returning to the side last week and hit the ground running. This week we head to enemy territory Kongorong to round out the season. Kongorong is a real danger game, and the boys must be at their best to finish in the top 2 to ensure they get the double chance.

Junior Colts: Last week we had the long trip down to Pt Mac to face a young side who aren’t playing finals this year but their pressure and a ack at the footy will keep them in good stead for the upcoming years. In the opening quarter we started slow but came to find our mojo towards the back end of the first. I changed up the side a bit in the second to give some players a chance to play some different posi ons which may come in handy in the next month or so. As per usual Cooper was doing all he could for the team, pu ng on blocks for his teammates and tackling people for fun. Although the ground was extremely heavy we were able to run the game out well and have a convincing 9 goal win on the road. We con nue our season this week for our final home game of the year hoping to con nue our winning form coming into a finals campaign. Senior Colts: With only 2 minor round games le and finals approaching, we trekked all the way down to Port MacDonnell. It looked to be a miserable and wet day on the drive down. The Port Mac oval provided some challenges with heavy thick mud patches all over the ground. There was a strong breeze blowing towards the change room end, which would provide an advantage for whom every could take control. Lucky for both teams, the rain held off and the sun prevailed. The Robe boys were inspired by the colt figure debutant, Seb Moore with his wiry flowing mullet and bellowing voice. With all 18 players on the ground both teams looked set for a fierce ba le. We lost the toss and kicked into the wind in the first quarter. The Robe boys started phenomenally well with the midfield brigade of Ollie Hagge , Flynn Peel, Cameron Gibbons and Clayton Peel winning mul ple clearances. Kicking into the wind created havoc for the forwards, missing some easy goals early on. Regardless, we piled on 5 goals into the wind in the first quarter. In the second, Port Mac came out firing and were able to transi on the football down the wings from their back half and were not far off scoring a number of goals. With the wind, the Robe boys looked to use it to their advantage. They waltzed out of the middle and hit up the Robe forwards of Ethan Cornish and Max Robertson on the lead. We went into the half me break 64 points up and with no inclina on of slowing down. In the third quarter, the physical bodies of Clayton, Jesse and Hudson started to influence the game with block and some big hits. Hard and fair! The Robe boys kept the pedal to the metal piling on another 6 unanswered goals. In the last quarter, everyone jumped on the

3rd qtr
goal bandwagon. The boys were unselfish in suppor ng their teammates to get on the end of a goal, with goal sneaks Jai, Newy, Boundy, Seb and Sutho ge ng on the end of one. We piled on another 6 goals and kept them to only 3 points for the day. Overall, a great team win with plenty of handballs out of traffic and fantas c footy to watch. This week we take on Mt Burr at home to finish off the minor rounds. The Robe boys will look to make a statement going into the finals undefeated. This will be a game to watch! I will see you there Rooster fans! Tom 'Woka' Wachtel. A Grade: An overcast winters day greeted the Robe faithful as they made the long trek to Port MacDonnell for what promised to be a tough hit out with our seaside foes. Port Mac won the toss and took advantage of a strong breeze in the first quarter scoring their first goal in the first minute quickly followed by another two. Robe took a li le while to se le in and in very similar fashion to our last match up in round 8 we were le playing catch up to a three-goal buffer. The second quarter saw more rain fall on an already sodden deck and whatever small amount of bounce was le in the oval completely vanished. The game then became a tough, scrappy contest through the middle of the ground. Robe kicked the first goal which was quickly responded to with another two, Port Mac just seeming to find the loose man a li le easier than Robe but not by much. The Roosters con nued to work hard throughout the third and at the three quarter break the quick start by Port Mac proved too much to chase down on an unforgiving and leg draining surface pulling away by 37 points. Port Mac started the fourth quarter how they finished the third and took advantage of Robe’s frustra on by making use of free kicks effec vely which was showing on the scoreboard. Just when you started thinking it's all over the sun came out and Robe got two quick goals and the momentum shi ed for a few minutes. The Demons then slo ed another from a well-earned mark in the square and plucked a couple of feathers from the Roosters tail. To their credit Robe con nued to work hard and never dropped their heads adding another two goals, one from our fearless leader to finish the game. In the end the tall mber of Port Mac only got taller as the day drew on and the Roosters’ leg speed, bounce and carry game was hamstrung as Port Mac finished with the win. Final score Port Mac 16.5 (101) to Robe 11.7 (73). Best players: B. Laurie, J. Sneath, J. Kelly, J. Barri , J. Hentschke, K. Woodward.

A big crowd was on hand last week for our last home game against Hatherleigh, but unfortunately the Eagles were too strong in winning all four games but that was quickly forgo en with everyone ge ng back to the club for teas and staying on for the trivia night and games which everyone enjoyed. Thanks to Bri, Sam and Clint. We will be hos ng the first semi final and will be asking for as many volunteers as possible to help in some way. undefeated Robe side. Reserves: The B Grade took the field with a number of Senior Colts filling in who all acqui ed themselves well and even though Hatherleigh won convincingly, the Burr boys s ll applied the pressure and made a contest when the ball was in their area and stuck to a simple plan in moving the ball when in possession. Be er players were Je , Rhys, Jacob, Sam and Jack.
Senior Colts: Last game we took on a more desperate Hatherleigh team and a er a good first half we were easily outclassed in the end. We sustained a couple of nasty injuries with Kal severely disloca ng a finger and Johnny copping one in the kidneys. We all hope for a speedy recovery for them both. Best players were Je Bowering leading from the front all day, Trey NortonLi le put his body on the line all game, Geordie Whennen created space and always comes up with a good op on, Bradlee Lawson had a run on the ball and was very clever all game, and Jayden Poulish was given a difficult job and stuck at it all game. Under 11: Although Mt Burr had no team Saturday the HFC U11s rolled in for a kick on the Burr oval early Saturday morning. Separa ng the older kids in one half and the younger kids on the other made out for a good contest. With plenty of room on the oval the kids displayed some great skills. The kicking was out in front and to the open teammate leading to space which was exactly what we have been working on at training. The tackling and shepherding was excep onal. I no longer need to direct the kids on this, they are alert and thinking of what they need to be doing next. Great work lads, it was a great game by all and pleasing to see some of the young lads growing with confidence. Well done on award winners Billy, Paddy, Caine, Mason, Raff, Lenni and Joel. Junior Colts: The kids came up against Mount Burr expec ng a solid game. A er a ght first quarter, the kids stepped up in the second to take the lead. They maintained the lead to run out victors. Riley Prouse was best on ground, kicking 6 and ge ng plenty of the ball. Ollie Fitzgerald had a dominant game in the middle. Brayden Chambers had a good game in the forward line. Jack Bellinger used his skills to his advantage. Eli Sims was everywhere and Harry Baker had a promising game as well. Senior Colts: We came up against Mount Burr last week. The first quarter was a ght tussle but the boys stepped up in the second quarter to take a solid lead and maintain it. In the end they came away with a solid win over the opposi on. Ethan Bowman was everywhere like usual. Harvey Jones had another day out kicking 8. Eli Kneen had another great day solidifying a strong finish. Myles Widdison 2nd qtr

was strong in defence and Aussie Ne le found plenty of the ball in the middle. Reserves: Last week we came up against Mt Burr. They came out with high pressure in the first quarter and we struggled to be clean in the slippery condi ons. A er we were a li le wasteful in front of goals we came in at quarter me 30pts up. We started to improve the way we played as the middle period of the game went on, and our ball movement improved as the condi ons dried up. It was good to see Lewy Walker back in ac on in his first game of footy since round 4. His skills hi ng up Big Modra Wight down forward were a pleasure to watch. By the final siren we had ran out comfortable winners. Hopefully Rural makes a quick recovery as we head towards the finals. Best players: Modra (6 goals), Thorny, Lewy, Dylan and Rural. A Grade: We played Mount Burr at Mount Burr with it being the first dry day we've had for a while we were keen to get a really good start. We started the game really well through high pressure and precise ball movement we managed to kick the first 5 goals of the game. Mount Burr responded with li ing their intensity around the ball, our boys adjusted and con nued to play a good solid brand of football and came away with a good win. Mitch Pulmer was solid down back winning the contest and se ng up plenty of quick rebounds while in the middle. Joe Ferg stood up to the pressure and won the ball out of the middle all day. Up forward Sam Telfer led the way boo ng 5 goals and also se ng up plenty. This week we are back at home in the last game of the home and away season against Tant. 4th qtr

ROUND 18 A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW KONGORONG v PORT MACDONNELL The Hawks are at home this week for the last minor round game and will take on their neighbouring Demons. Pt Mac are coming off a nail bi ng win where they took the points against the Roosters, while the Hawks got thumped by Kalangadoo to the tune of 75 goals. Neither side will play finals in 2021 but will be looking to finish the season strongly. Kongorong remain winless while Pt Mac have only a few wins on the board. Pt Mac defender Morgan Amy was named best for the Demons in their win over Robe and will make the Hawks goalies Tilah Buckingham and Ella McIntyre work hard for their goals. Pt Mac goalie Brooke Williams has had a steller season. She has shot with accuracy and keeps her cool under pressure. Williams' accuracy, along with the height of Kirby Carrison, will make things hard for the Hawks defence. Michelle Moore and Jess Trench have been consistent for the Bay through the middle and will have too much experience for the young Hawks midcourt. Riley Buckingham has tried her heart out all year in the mid-court and defence for the Hawks with some credible performances. Pt Mac will win their last game of the season. HATHERLEIGH v TANTANOOLA Hatherleigh are at home this week for their last minor round game and take on the Tigers. Hatherleigh went down by the slimmest of margins to Mount Burr at the weekend, while the Tigers had a big win over Nangwarry. Last me these two teams met, it was the Eagles that got up by just 5 goals. Hatherleigh would be disappointed about going down to Mount Burr by a
goal at the weekend and will come out firing on Saturday. Tantanoola will be keen to try to get the upperhand on the Eagles and cement their spot in the top four. Tantanoola’s a ack line are a pleasure to watch. Emma Gould has been outstanding all season backed by Jami Walker. Their goalies are well supported by Casey Walker and Vic Lucas. Standing in their way will be Sarah Broadhead and Maddie Redman who have been excellent for the Eagles in defence. They also have Chelsea Galpin at the ready, who has put in some great defensive performances for Hatherleigh. Down the other end of the court, the juniors take on each other and both will be looking to shine. Lacey Haines for the Eagles has been outstanding in the goal circle, while Tayla Rowe, like Haines, has s ll been playing 17's and has held down the GK posi on with some consistent games for the Tigers. This will be just one of the games of the round this week and will be a great spectacle to finish off the minor rounds. GLENCOE v KALANGADOO Glencoe play their last minor round game at home this week and take on the ladder leaders, Kalangadoo. Glencoe are coming off the bye, while Kalangadoo trounced Kongorong at the weekend. There will be some great match-ups to watch, Jayde Peacock and Donna Jaeschke always have a great tussle through the middle, while Magpies GA Abbey Duncan will likely line up against the Murphies Sarah Edwards, both these girls' agility and skill will make for a great spectacle. Magpies GS Melissa Russell was outstanding against Kongorong, shoo ng with amazing accuracy, she will cause Glencoe’s defence line some
Proudly supporting the Mid South East Football League
headaches. Kalangadoo's defence line has been outstanding this season, with Chelsea Croser and Mikaila Pi both able to cause their opposi on a lot of grief. Last me these two teams met, it was Kalangadoo quite convincingly that took the points. The stakes are a bit higher this me round with Glencoe wan ng to secure their spot in the top 4. This will be another great game to watch for the last minor round of the season, Glencoe will be desperate for the win but Kalangadoo will likely take the points. ROBE v MOUNT BURR Robe are at home for their last game of the season and will take on Mount Burr who are figh ng to get a spot in the top four. Last me these two teams met, it was Mount Burr by 13 goals. Robe would be disappointed in their 2 goal loss to Pt Mac at the weekend and will be looking to put in a strong performance to finish off their season. Mount Burr had a thrilling one goal win over Hatherleigh and will take some momentum into this week’s match. Tori Gluyas and Sarah Laurie have played some brilliant netball in goals for the Roosters, they will line up against the consistent Mozzies defence line of Heidi Clark and Madi Hagge . Accuracy will be important down this end for Robe as Clark and Hagge are big rebounders. Down the other end of the court, Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty have been superb in goals for the Mozzies, they will come up against Georgia Perkins and Alannah Campbell who have both grown this year, becoming a great defence unit. Mount Burr will take the points in what should be a good tussle. Nangwarry has the bye.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Good game girls. Everyone had fantas c defence over the whole court with keeping the ball down our goal end. First best (Metalworx Award) went to Hallie Sealey for amazing intercepts over the court. Second best went to Charlo e Bignell for always encouraging the girls across the court. Encouragement went to Jasmine Haase for fantas c shoo ng and team work. Junior 1: Awesome game girls. With two weeks off we started a bit scrappy, but you all pulled together and adjusted quickly. Amazing rebounding efforts and shoo ng from all my goalies. Defence worked very hard as well with some great intercepts from everyone. First best (Eddie Kuhl Tyre Award) went to Lacey Hunter for ge ng every single rebound, second went to Kloe Phillips for some amazing intercepts and encouragement went to Emmerson Govan for pu ng in 100% a er having 4 weeks off from a broken wrist. 13 & Under: 23-6. Fantas c game by all girls. We started off very slowly but had a much be er second half, even the girls thought they needed to focus be er and they did just that and really did well. Each player li ed and adjusted to instruc ons. Very proud of all of you. Shae earned herself the Dycer Construc on Award playing a great game through the mid court with turnovers and also feeding into the circle and deserved best player. Ruby had great reach and defensive pressure in that circle and made many turnovers - fantas c game (2nd best). Well done again girls. 15 & Under: 20-45. Well done girls, tough game. Defence worked hard all game and mid court had some great intercepts down the court. We found it difficult feeding into the shooters. Shooters had some great movement and passes but the goals weren't sinking. You girls all played hard ll the end of the game. Cedar Sco got best (Maloney Plumbing Award), she had a never give up a tude and had some great intercepts and constant pressure down the court and in the ring. Tayliah Atchinson defended well throughout the game, making it hard for her player to gain possession. 17 & Under: 18-33. Not our best game girls. We played a very uncontrolled brand of netball and needed to be much more pa ent with our passing and stronger with our leads. However, Caitlyn had a fantas c game in defence to earn herself the DeGaris Lawyers Award and Mikayla ba led hard all day and kept her head up to earn the McDonalds Award. Let's come out for our final game with our heads held high and use (and make) the
NETball club notes easy op on. B Reserve: 71-17. Great effort girls, everyone adjusted well to the posi onal changes, thanks to Zoe and Zali for benching and stepping on court when required, greatly appreciated girls. Great driving out of defence and pressure earnt Kate the best player (Key 2 Sale Award) and great feeding and leading earnt Bri the second best. Loz and Bri turned it on with great work in the ring and Larns and Tay had great pressure in defence. B Grade: 78-45. A great game by everyone who did everything I asked at the start of the match. Defence worked hard all game with turnovers and rebounds with us being the shortest in the goal ring at mes. The midcourt worked hard with some excellent drives and even taking a leaf out of the skipper’s book causing issues with mul ple intercepts. The cousins were at it again in the goal circle making the net swish all day. This week’s game will be the test girls and I have faith that if we implement what we work on at trainings, play a full sixty minutes of our game, we will walk away with the points. Best went to Abbie Cocks for a powerhouse game (Planta on Treated Timber Award) at GS and Amy Clegge for a great game in the defence. A Reserve: 54-34. Yay to being back on court. It was a great game by all players. The intensity in the first half was high and it was fantas c to see everyone stay calm, pa ent and confident on court and slowly get the scoreboard cking away in our favour. Both goalie combina ons worked well and everyone shot with high accuracy. Well done to Tameka and Chloe on a great game - you had a big job shu ng down their goalies, but you did just that. Jessie ran hard in C all game and was well supported by Candice and Alyce. We have a few big weeks ahead of us, but let's stay focused and confident as a group, put in the hard work now and reap the rewards later. Best players: Alyce Finnis (B&P Travel and Cruise) and Taitlyn Rothe. A Grade: 54-23. It was great to be back on court and in fantas c playing condi ons too. Our full court defensive pressure was amazing, with everyone on court picking up numerous intercep ons. Sarah and Emily had a good game and ripped in a lot of rebounds against some taller opposi on. The transi on from defence to a ack was seamless and we backed each other up the whole me. Let's improve on our round 1 result against Kalangadoo this week and go into finals with all guns firing. Best players: Sarah Edwards (O'Brien Electrical Award) and Ashlea Edwards.
What a season it has been so far. The netball club want to send out a big thank you to everyone who helped out on our final raffle of the year, par cularly everyone who helped sell ckets and everyone who purchased ckets! The raffle was won by Brenton Telford. Also, a thank you to Deb Mulligan, Keryl and Darren Ousey and Emmason Ilsley for organising and taking team photos on the weekend. Wishing the best of luck to all grades for our final minor game of the 2021 season. Junior 1: Great effort li le Magpies in our match against Kongorong. It is great that you are all taking on board what we are learning at training and giving it your best effort during our matches. There were some nice passages of play, with great passing all the way down the court. The defensive pressure was amazing with plenty of intercepts and rebounds. The whole team received the awards from Paradise Pizza and Penola Recycling. The A Graders were so pleased to have the J1 and J2 girls support on Saturday and loved watching your half me game. You showed us some impressive moves - thank you and well done! Junior 2: Great game from all the girls and it was pleasing to see that it has all finally came together! Also well done on your li le display at half me of the A Grade match. There were plenty of smiles and determina on to show what you have all learnt this year. 13 & Under: Pleasing to see the girls concentra ng on coaches' instruc ons. Awards: Lucy (Penola Recyclables), Shayden (Paradise Pizza), Ma lda (SAL), Alice (Copenhagen), Maya (DK Coffee). 15 & Under: Very pleased with the girls’ response to the challenge of different posi ons. Awards: Ebony (Athletes Foot), Chloe (Paradise Pizza), Georgia (Penola Recyclables),Gabby and Molly (DK Coffee). 17 & Under: A great team effort with no passengers. Our passing op ons, teamwork and ming were fantas c. You have all improved individually but just as importantly you have improved as a team. You defence pressure and chasing up loose balls to help teammates out is admirable. Keep up the great work. Best players: Sophie Wrightson and Holly Watson with Beauty by Re and Fasta Pasta awards. B Reserve: Good team effort, including the contribu ons by Lisa, Emily and Georgia. Awards to Deb (IGA Penola), Gem (Body shop) and Imogen. B Grade: We had a great start
against Kongorong and everyone played their roles well throughout the en re game. Bel and Gina shot well the en re game and were easy targets in the circle. Our transi on through the mid court has improved every week and both our Jess' speed is a massive contributor to that. Lucy and Jolie worked hard to Kongorong feeding their goalies with consistent pressure on passes. Nicole and Shanae astound all of us every week turning the ball over with sneaky touches and athle c prowess. You girls are fantas c to watch play together. Looking forward to a big test next week and having Lucy back ASAP a er a late injury against Kongorong. A Reserve: A really great team effort by everyone that hit the court. Was vey pleasing to see all the things we have con nued to go through at training be brought into the actual game play and work really well. Ebony had a great game and was back to her best controlling the a ack line and shoo ng with accuracy, and was very well supported by Maddy who has been given a lot of instruc ons in recent weeks and really worked hard to make them part of her game. Again the mid court in Jamie, Jaimee and Emmason found lots of space and moved and fed the goalies well, while Shan and Schultz had a strong game in defence with Kylie playing on no sleep and s ll managing to assert her dominance down that end of the court. We are now at the tail end of the season so really all need to fine tune our individual games so we play well as a team and head into finals playing our best netball. Best players: Beauty by Re - Ebony McDiarmid, Leanne Li le Body Shop - Madalyn Bonanno, Shelton's Butchers - Kylie Schultz. A Grade: Another great team game saw us come away with a solid win against a young Kongorong side. Our defensive trio are working well as a unit, developing a ght bond and conveniently missing in ac on at the same me. Fantas c effort from the sensible seniors to maintain a 'perceived' red zone work rate to convert with impressive accuracy throughout the day. S ll need to work hard to improve our offensive rebounding to make the most of our opportuni es. This may be improved with the switching of some sideline du es. All in all let's con nue to work hard to bring our best performance to each game. A huge thank you to the team around us all, both for the on court and off court support - we really appreciate everyone's effort. Thank you. Best players: Abbey Gail - F45, Chlostar Pines Hotel.

NETball club notes Junior 2: What a game, you girls all played so well. There were some great passages of play, which looked awesome from the sidelines. When we lead and pass quickly, our opposi on can't keep up with us. One more game le ! Let's have fun playing against Pt Mac this weekend. Awards: Meeka - The Bellum Hotel, Isabelle - Telford family, Zoe Telford family and Claire Baker's Delight, Alyssa Baker's Delight and Claire Angelino award. Junior 1: What an improvement from last week! Everyone should be super proud of their efforts last week. Everyone showed everything we have worked on at training really well, and listened to everything I asked. We showed really good defensive pressure all over the court but unfortunately couldn't reward our hard work. A massive thank you to Zach who came straight from footy to give us a hand with numbers. Awards: Jacquelyn - The Bellum Hotel and Lacy Hungry Jacks. 13 & Under: Another hard fought defensive game. We ran out of legs and Kalangadoo was just so strong in every area. Holly A will (Zambreros) had another outstanding game, never giving up and just a text book player in all aspects. Ruby Carrigan (Hungry Jacks) was strong also in defence and I swear her arms get longer each week. 15 & Under: We played well against a much stronger side. Some good passages of play but s ll need to work on our ball passes and ge ng in front. Awards: Zambreros Zahli, and Hungry Jacks Yasmine. B Reserve: Great game girls. You all showed that your game play has improved. I'm very happy with your effort and team play. We only have
NETball club notes one game le , let’s give it our all and end on a game play like last week. I am so impressed with Kelly McQueen who came into our team so mid and quiet, now you have proven to yourself and the team how much you have improved, well done. Awards: Zambreros - Skye Sander and Lima & Co Simone Block. B Grade: Well we came and gave our all girls. But man what a polished side Kalangadoo are. Awards: Zambreros - Scout, Kongorong club tea - Renae and Billie. A Grade: Good effort girls! It was great to see that we pushed all the way to the final whistle and never dropped our heads. Ella led the way in a ack with strong work in the air and accuracy under the post while our defence worked over me for four quarters. Best and awards went to Riley (Lima & Co) and Ella (Zambreros) for a full four quarter effort. We wish to thank our sponsors for suppor ng us throughout this season. To our Gold Sponsors HL Scheidl and GEM. Junior 1: What an amazing effort for our last home game for the season. We came out with all efforts le on the court which is exactly what they said at the start of our game. Our li le team has come so far this season from star ng so young and nearly a new team it was great to see that everyone has come together and fought so hard. It was a much be er game, our passes were stronger and quicker, our leads to the ball were be er and we were not dropping back all the me. Great work bringing the ball out of defence into a ack, it worked so well when we spread out and came back to the ball. Well done girls, great way to finish our last home game for the season. Best players went to Addison Smith (Bakers Delight), Torah Staples (Donut King). Junior 2: Awesome game for all the girls. Everyone did an awesome job, and gave it their absolute best. The girls passing was awesome and our clearing out prac ce at training is star ng to pay off on game days. The girls should all be very proud of themselves as I am. They have all come along way, and will become great assets to the club in the future. Keep up the hard work girls. I would have given awards to everyone last week if I had enough. But awards went to Des ny (Bakers) who tried really hard all game, Emiliee (Bakers) who nearly shot a couple of goals, BK (Hungry Jacks) who listened really well and gave it her absolute best and nearly got a few goals, Ana (Muffin Break) who saw herself ge ng lots of touches and Emily (Donut King) being the li le quiet achiever of the team. 13 & Under: Wow, great game last week, everyone played well and we really gelled as a team. Jas played another outstanding game with many intercepts and her driving down the court was great. Bella and Layla another awesome game in goals, keep up the prac sing, it is really star ng to show. Isla your cu ng in front was good and you put in a great game at WA last week as did Mollie at WD with her defensive pressure. Today is our last game for the season, let’s go out with a win. Awards: Bella (Dominos Pizza), Isla (Hungry Jacks), Layla (Hungry Jacks) and Mollie (KFC). Best players: Jasmine Morgan and Bella McLean. 15 & Under: Best: Sophie Lewis (Hungry Jacks), Tia Moulden (Dominos). We went out with a slow start s ll trying to figure out the new combina ons, but a er a quick regroup at half me changing some things around we came together and broke away to score a win! Everyone on the court should be very proud of their efforts to adjust to new posi on changes and new combina ons. 17 & Under: An excellent job to every single one of you. Each week I set a new goal and you are all con nuing to go above and beyond to reach that goal! Bring on this week! Best players: Ruby Wallace and Kristy Sneath. B Grade: Once again we hit the court with a different line up, to accommodate missing players. But our determina on, persistent and communica on helped our performance. Our trust and confidence
in each other to do our job is evident. Our goal circle started of slow, but once they found rhythm and space we scored consistently. Abbi and De worked extremely hard to hit the circle edge and provide some great passes into the goalies. Georgia found space under the post and shot some lovely goals, even in the swirly wind condi ons. The a acks line defended well and capitalised on turnovers and scored. Abbi and Kelly created extreme defensive pressure to enable Kristy and MacKenzie to take intercep ons. Kelly's voice and direc on helped the defence circle stay ght and get some touches. The defensive effort across the whole court was evident and we need to keep the pressure on and maintain for 4 quarters. Because we work so hard on our court plays at training, these are becoming habit which was evident in our play. Our transi ons and court play were terrific and everything we have learnt was on court. It was good to maintain intensity throughout the third and fourth quarter and forge ahead. Lara gave us a target and some height in the a ack line when she entered the game at half me. Lara found space with some clever and well med movement to open up the circle. The a ack line was well balanced and the ball movement was slick. Keep up the good work girls. Awards: Kelly Millard (Pizzeria) and Georgia Seidel (South Aussie). B Reserve: Great game girls, we came out firing which is good to see a er the last couple of weeks. We s ll have a few li le things to work on at training but was a huge improvement. Let's come out again this week and keep up the good work. A Reserve: Good game girls. We had a solid first 2 quarters, then got very ra y in the second half. Our all court defensive pressure was great, we work over me to try get a turnover. Need to slow down, play our own game and make sure of our passes. Best players: Holly Smith and Montanna Millard. A Grade: Wow is what I want to start with! What a fantas c win to finish our second to last game. So proud of all of you girls, we stayed strong, we worked hard and we absolutely deserved this win and it feels amazing! Let's con nue this posi ve vibe into the last game and finish our season on a high. Well done girls. Best players: Morgan Amy (Chemist King), Lucie Whitworth (Pick Avenue Bakery). NETball club notes Junior 2: Well done girls, everyone should be very proud of themselves. We started out strong through the mid court, with fantas c passes and strong defence but unfortunately Port Mac were stronger on the day as we ran out of puff in the second half. Incen ve went to Lexi Roach for her beau ful passes, leading into space and taking the courts whilst others couldn't. Great teamwork Lexi. Junior 1: We travelled to Port Mac to play our last away game for the season. We had the bare 7 players, so it was great for you all to play a full game. Unfortunately, the rain came down and we got soaked but you all didn't seem to mind and quite enjoyed it. Milla and Tess played a great a acking game helping the ball flow more consistently down the court. Lacey was good in defence having strong hands, jumping and stretching to intercept well. Holly's always reliable with a strong voice and great passes. Our incen ves went to Poppy and Siarrah who led in front all game and picked up lots of loose balls. Well done girls. 13 & Under: Pt Mac 46 Robe 6. You should all be very proud of yourselves, everyone took their role and played to the best of their ability, which was wonderful to see. We had some great passages of play and worked together as a team which was so lovely to see. Posi onal changes each quarter and everyone s ll con nued to try. Having you ask ques ons, try hard and finally listen :) made for a great day coaching. Millie got best player (The Project) for her determina on in each quarter no ma er where she was put, and incen ve (The Union) went to Allira for her great game, backing up in defence and trying so hard at WA with a li le hint of a smile. Awesome effort girls. 15 & Under: Pt Mac 32 Robe 24. What an amazing game. Girls you all put in 100% and proved you have the ability to win. Goalies Georgie and Kiana played a very controlled game shoo ng very well. Our mid court Ella, Emily, Charlie and Jenna all worked relessly to control the ball down the court and defences Tilley, Lucy and Hapira had so many touches and created loads of turnovers. A few changes saw us go down a li le bit, but we s ll managed to peg back the score. It's something to work from and build for next year. Basic things we can work on that will improve your game so much. An awesome effort girls! Best player (The Project) went to Tilley and incen ve (Steve's Place) went to Georgie. 17 & Under: Pt Mac 31 Robe 29. Bad luck girls! The score truly doesn't reflect the game you all played! You should all be really proud! Defence worked relessly with many turnovers, we've just got to capitalise on those 2nd efforts. Best player (The Union) went to Ella who proved she's not only an awesome goalie but can ruffle some feathers in defence too! Billie took out incen ve (Loaves & Fishes); I am so proud of how you handled last week, you adjust your play and held your head high instead of lowering to others' levels. Amalie, you took one for the team with more bench me than court me. Your me on court showed that WA's should be worried coming up against you in future games, your posi ve talk was awesome and you showed fantas c sportsmanship! You're a vital member of our team never think
NETball club notes otherwise; someone will repay the favour next weekend. It's very hard with 9 girls to work it around each week and you're all awesome players. It makes my job really hard but keep your heads up and let's push over the Burr this week at home. B Reserve: Pt Mac 60 Robe 16. A tough game for the reserves. A couple of late outs changed our game plan. Everyone adapted to some late changes and gave their best effort in new posi ons on the court. Well done to Robyn who put her hand up to play anywhere on the court earning herself Calcu a (The Cally). Kiri had an absolute cracking game in defence earning herself incen ve (Hook & Harvest). Well done Kiri! That is the best game I've seen you play. Our centre court had their work cut out for them and had to run all game. Great effort from Jess who switched from goals to WA with ease. Great job ladies, you should be very proud of your efforts. B Grade: Pt Mac 56 Robe 23. First of all… congratula ons to Emma on playing 100 games! Lots of posi ve things to come from our game last week. Our defence held strong against some tough goalies. Phoebe and Sophie were our always reliable defence that didn't drop their heads all day. Phoebe earning herself incen ve (Me & Miss Jones). Tamara ran all day in centre giving 110% for a well-deserved Calcu a (Steve's Place). Thank you to Sienna Brooks and Jess Svic for si ng our bench. Sienna had a quarter in goals with Aunty Emma for her 100th game. Well done Sienna on your first senior game. Great effort ladies! A Reserve: Pt Mac 60 Robe 20. Always going to be a tough game against a strong Port Mac! As per usual the girls never dropped their heads and fought for every ball. Defensive pressure was great making sure the a ackers didn't get any easy passes into goals. Mid court started slow, but managed to work themselves out as the game progressed. Belle had a great game a er being tough on herself last week, she managed to pull herself up and out earning herself Calcu a (Loaves & Fishes). Ali started to work so well in the ring with Pom, making her shooter work hard for every ball. Special men on to Shelbs who has had a super last half really holding strong in the ring and guiding the a ack line. Again, it was the basics that let us down; poor passing, not coming in front, not making space for one another and general lack of awareness of what's happening around us. One more game to give it a good solid crack - let's give Mount Burr a run for their money next week and finish with a bang! A Grade: Pt Mac 39 Robe 37. We were under the pump right from the start of the game with Pt Mac jumping with the lead at quarter me. It was a tough physical game, especially in the goal ring with Pt Mac's defence making Sarah and Tori earn every goal. A er being down by 15 at half me and making a few changes, we came out stronger in the second half with more pressure all over the court and working hard to u lise any turnover we got. In the end we went down by 2 goals, but everyone fought hard to the end, never giving up. Best player (Robe Hair Affair) went to Keryn and Incen ve (Original Skin) to Tori. Great effort girls.
The Mount Burr Netball Club is proud to have Sam and Clark Fal ng, Igni on Fitness, and Kimberly-Clark Australia (KCA) as major sponsors for the 2021 season. Junior 2: Last home game of the season. So much improvement each week. Last week we came up against a stronger team and I am so proud of your efforts. It was great to see some strong passages of play down the court. Keep up the good work. Awards went to Wren (Toy Kingdom) and Isabelle (Fasta Pasta). Junior 1: The girls played an amazing game. Every week you can see massive improvements in their game play. The girls put in lots of effort to get the ball down to the shooters. There was lots of calling for the ball and turnovers. One thing we can con nue to work on ahead of our last game against Robe is coming in front for the ball. The girls should all be proud of their efforts throughout the season and be proud of how much they have improved. Awards went to Gemma (Kaboom) for some great shoo ng and coming forward to meet the ball. Lexi (McDonald's) who took many turnovers and cheered on the whole team, and Grace (Fasta Pasta) who every week shows great leadership and big improvements to her game. Great job girls. 13 & Under: Bad luck girls, our first half was a closely contested game with 4 goals in it. A er half me Hatherleigh got on top of us. We need to not drop our head when the game is turning against us, keep working hard, support each other and play 4 consistent quarters of netball. Let's come out firing against Robe and string 4 consistent quarters together. Thanks to Lisa for umpiring, Amy for scoring, and Lisa for ming. Awards went to Holly (Denton’s Sportspower bag), Kali (Acky's), and Tilly (Denton’s Sportspower drink bo le). 15 & Under: What a tough game. This game tested our want for the ball. We are very proud of the way you all played and gave it 100%. Our defensive pressure down the court was ght which created many held balls and turnovers. Thanks to our support on the sidelines, the girls benefi ed from having this extra voice. Well done girls, great game. Awards went to Jasmine (Acky's), Imogen (Java), and Jemma (Sportspower). 17 & Under: We went into this game knowing that it would be tough and having clear goals that we wanted to achieve. The first quarter we came out playing the type of netball we know we are capable of and the game style we want to make more consistent, finishing the quarter just 7 down. We need to work on keeping our heads up in tough games and suppor ng one another out on court, as this will help us to string together 4 consistent quarters. Let's go out this week firing and finish off the minor round strong. Thanks to Simone for umpiring, Karen for scoring (and April for stepping in when needed), and Shannon for ming. Awards went to Jemma (Enchanted Beauty) and Kelsi (Denton’s Sportspower). B Reserve: Bad luck girls, we pushed Hatherleigh all game. They put lots of pressure on us, which created turnovers, and then they finished off well. We had 2 very close quarters with them, when our defensive pressure all over the court li ed, which was great to see. We need to string 4 consistent quarters to beat these top 4 teams. Thanks to Georgia for
scoring, Bri for ming, and Mandy for umpiring. Awards will be given at Robe today. B Grade: We started strong with great defensive pressure crea ng turnovers and giving our a ack line plenty of opportuni es. Changes from both teams ra led us in the third quarter and we struggled to keep possession. We worked hard in the last and it was great to see our team celebra ng the success of the A Grade a er our game. Final scores were Mount Burr 28 to Hatherleigh 52. Awards went to Larissa Wa s (Heaven on a Hanger), and Georgia Lambert (Denton's Sportspower). A Reserve: Bad luck girls. Our slow start in the first quarter has us playing a game of catch-up. Unfortunately, Hatherleigh were just too good for us this round coming away with the win. We saw some nice passages of play through the game with Layla, Faith, and Ella working hard through the mid-court, crea ng space and opportuni es to deliver the ball into the goalies. Awards were from our sponsors the Beachport Hotel, Denton's Sportspower, and Since Fi y Six. A Grade: We had to fight ll the final whistle for the points we so desperately needed and that's what we did. Our circle defenders were our most consistent players for the day, working relessly to turn the ball over and never giving up. So proud of you all. Let's finish off the season. Thanks to Mandy for scoring, Deanna for ming, and Tanya for being the primary carer. Awards went to Ava Smith-Muhovics (Millicent Chemist), Heidi Clark (Heaven on a Hanger), Madi Hagge (Beachport Hotel), Sarah Nulty (Boost), and Ann Guye (Denton's Sportspower). Lynne Lambert - MBNC President Note: As we approach our last home and away game for the season, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the netball club commi ee, our hard-working and dedicated senior and junior coaches, the many volunteers that gave up their me to umpire, score, and me, as well as all the other du es that allow teams to take the court every week. Although our season was again interrupted by Covid we pulled together as a club and a league once restric ons eased which allowed the season to get to where it is now. Mount Burr will host the first semifinal and everyone's help would be sincerely appreciated as we are all aware that many hands make the workload a lot lighter. Good luck to all our teams represen ng our club in the finals. Please get out to the finals and give our teams the support they deserve. The Mount Burr Netball Club would like to thank Michael and Raelene Wallis for dona ng the wood for the gate raffle last week and Peter and Jordan Muhovics for their help in loading and delivering the wood. Congratula ons to Sara Gray for being the lucky winner. Congratula ons must also go to the following list of winners from the Super Raffle: Henrika Baker, Abbey Fal ng, Georgia Lambert, Claire Johnston, Karen Hayward, Georgia Lambert and Jemma Hayward. Thank you to all players and commi ee members that made dona ons of items for the raffle, sold raffle ckets, and volunteered to sell ckets on the gate last week. It was a huge success and a very valuable club fundraiser.

TANTANOOLA
NETball club notes Junior 2: It was clear to see just how far this J2 team has come this year when watching them last week! The play was clear and open, with each player running into space when making their leads. Their shoulder passing is ge ng stronger, as they become more confident to make long passes. It was great to see WA and C players hold strong around the ring and become an op on when goalies were stuck. Maggie and Arabella were persistent in goals, using their dodge to get free from defence. Kirby and Myla kept ght in defence and contested all high balls coming in. Hazel and Paige completed some strong passes of play, driving down the court and hi ng the ring hard for the feed. Mollie was consistent and calm as always, rebounding and shoo ng with confidence and balance. Leyla had one of her best games for the year, not giving her player an inch in defence and ge ng her hands to so many balls! Ladies Commi ee award went to Hazel and the Toy Kingdom award went to Leylah. Junior 1: Tough game for our li le ones with a significant height difference overall but the round saw each of the girls dodging and moving to cut front which made for more dominance and possession of the ball. Defensively the posi on of each of the girls was incredible causing many turnovers. The other thing we worked on this week was suppor ng and building each other up. The most successful teams are those with teammates that support each other. The maturity of the girls to have a good understanding of this was great to see. Well done again on a great team effort girls, you should all be so proud. Awards: Corner Clip - Luca Hamilton, Maccas - Sienna Clarke and Olivia Hassell. 13 & Under: What a fantas c game girls. All 8 girls worked really hard on their defence and created many turnovers, our a ack was nice and open and we led into space. Amber had an absolute ripper of a game pulling intercepts in all over the court. Leni also played a smart game and passed strongly into the goalies. It’s hard to give awards when everyone listens and works hard to do their best but last week the Gino's award went to Amber and the HLC to Leni. 17 & Under: A very well-deserved win. The girls fought hard all game to break away comfortably from the Burr, with slippery condi ons and a couple fumbled plays it took a while for us to se le into our game. Both Rosie and Elly stuck to the goalies like glue, ge ng defensive pressure over every possible shot. Laura, Emma, Jasmyne and Demi moved the ball effec vely (and very quickly!) down the court, with every loose ball picked up and u lised to our advantage. Dakota and Lacey moved efficiently and accurately throughout the goal third, having very strong drives to the post and having some beau ful shots. A very good game girls, well done! Best players: Jasmyne Bellinger (HLC), Lacey Haines (Java Cafe), Demi Jones (HLC). B Reserve: A scrappy start to the game we rushed our passes, we didn't chase loose balls, we played behind and had no voice and it really showed. Thankfully in the second quarter something clicked and we started to
NETball club notes play netball like we know how to play. Our fight was much be er, Georgia fought hard and relessly and took many rebounds and created turnovers in GD and GK. Karen in WD also took lead, worked her bu off and took many intercep ons, Dizey in GS showed strength and determina on and shot beau fully. Everyone had good passages of play, but we have a lot of hard work in front of us, we need to be playing four strong solid quarters of netball and not become complacent. Thank you Nicole for scoring and Kerry for primary caring. Awards: Dizey (Beachport Hotel), Georgia (Somerset), Karen (HSRC). B Grade: Not a good start with the first possession of the ball being thrown away and Mount Burr had come out with posi vity. The first half we had way too many errors in the mid-court and into the goal circle and we weren't giving enough drive and not recovering. Luckily Georgia at GK was working hard and took some great intercepts to see us ahead but not by the margin it should have been. With changes at half me, Nat came onto C, Nic into WA, Ella into WD, Jess into GD, Maddie onto GS, Georgia staying at GK and Leila going to GA our game was much be er. We had a lot more drive down the court, we were harder at the ball and wanted the ball more and this saw us have our best quarter with great shoo ng and limi ng the Burr to just 2 goals. It was great to see the girls that came back on con nuing the hard work that the other had done, Lacey into WA, Meg into WD and Ellie into GA, we finished strong. Awards: En re team (Somerset, HS&R, Hollick Estate, Kelsey Wight Fitness and Since Fi y Six). Thank you to Linda for primary caring and Raels for scoring. A Reserve: The Eagles A Res were determined to finish off their season strongly and turn around the result from last game against Mt Burr. We knew what we needed to do and had a game plan to follow of blocking their drive and applying full court pressure at all mes. Abbie and Eliza were calm and consistent in goals all day and rewarded the defences efforts a er a turnover. Eliza cleared to make space and cut the base while Abbie held strong under the post and finished off cleanly. Isabel and Lucy Chant were relentless in defence, contes ng every pass that came in and at the same me keeping their penalty count low. Liss, Helen, Lucy and Paris adjusted quickly to changes every quarter and worked together to bring the ball down the court in slippery, damp condi ons. We led at every break, despite charges from Mt Burr, there was no panic and we came home to take the game by 8. The Somerset Award went to Eliza, Igni on Fitness to Lucy Chant and Chemist King to Isabel. A Grade: Well not the result we wanted but probably the result we deserved. Mt Burr wanted it more than us and played accordingly so well done Tam and girls. We did manage to put it together as a unit in the third but just couldn't maintain any momentum. Our shining lights for the day were Maddie R and Lara who fought tooth and nail to the final whistle and never gave up, both picking up plenty of ball earning them both a Somerset award. Thanks Sam for scoring once again.
Junior 2: Fantas c game against a much more evenly matched Nangwarry team. The girls had some fantas c passages of play, s ll a bit clu ered and need to spread out, but ge ng there. We even got a few goals which is well deserved for all their hard work. Polly your passing was best on court, how someone so li le can pass so good amazes me. Our award went to Stella, she improves each week and she chased up many balls and had a spectacular goal from a couple of metres from the ring. Brilliant job - you should be very proud of yourself! Junior 1: What a fantas c effort J1 girls! Throughout the en re game you put pressure on every pass. It was great to see you all s cking on your players and passing strong all the way down the court. We were able to make lots of turnovers which resulted in lots of goals, great shoo ng goalies! Well done to everyone, I am so proud of the netballers you have all become! Keep on having fun girls! Awards: Bakers Delight - Emie Mason and Peyton Bowman for consistently applying pressure throughout the whole game, well done! 13 & Under: Another great game girls against Nangwarry. I am so proud of how far you have come from the start of the season. Your confidence has grown each game you play, allowing you all to get your hands on loose balls. We started a bit slow a er having a month off of netball but you got back into the game to score goals. I love how you put your mind into the game and focus on playing to your best ability. You're working as a team and backing each other up in both defence and a ack. Pressure over the ball was excellent as you all got some intercepts. Movement in a acking has improved so much finding space and looking for someone who is in front. Well done girls, one game to go. Sportspower Award went to Bethan Roberts. 15 & Under: A close first half but we just couldn't keep up in the second. Our defence all over court is always great. Tameisha and Ebony put lots of pressure when Nangwarry got possession. In our defence end Holly and Molly made the goalies work hard with Lailah and Demi pressuring the ring. Our passing and movement down the court and into a ack lets us down most weeks and unfortunately this is what happened last game. Drills and movement we prac ce at training are for a reason and we need to put this on court into our games. One more game to go. Let's make Hatherleigh work for it. 17 & Under: We really came out firing wan ng to finish the season off strong. We all played our game and looked like we were really jelling as a team. Everyone looked as though they were having fun and mee ng their goals. Tayla, our baby giraffe, used her body well in goals conver ng from our turnovers from Ella and Charlo e. Hayley, Jade and Megan worked together bringing the ball down the court and chasing up
the loose balls strongly. Madi and Keelie provided plenty of drive and op ons both down the court and in the goal circle. Charlo e came out firing doing everything we have been working at training throughout the season, nice holds in there. She received a Ladies Commi ee award along with Hayley for her strong drives down the court. B Reserve: Great to finally get back out on the court. The girls started the game full of energy a er the break. Fantas c to see everyone working well together as a team and chasing up the ball. We do have to work on not rushing and slowing down the play. A big thank you to Ella and Hayley for helping us out and playing a half each. Best players went to Lucy Jackson who came out firing and worked hard all game in C and WA feeding the ball down and Kim Ballintyne who worked hard in defence all game ge ng lots of turnovers. Let's bring it for our last game this week girls! B Grade: A great result a er having 3 weeks off. Amy and Nic worked well together in the first half, moving and crea ng space in the goal circle. We had some great plays down the court and really worked at implemen ng what we prac sed at training. Great defensive pressure down the court and in the circle, crea ng many turnovers. Well done Krusty on a great game ge ng herself the New Heaven Indian Restaurant award and Danni - Ladies Commi ee. Best players: Leah Kuiper and Amy Mason. Let's work hard at training and focus ready for Hatherleigh this week and coming into finals. A Reserve: What a great game to come back too! Obviously having almost 4 games off we knew that it was going to be an uneasy start but I think we really put on court what we have been drilling in at training! Our transi on out of defence really gelled and I think that's of such importance coming into our next few games! Our defence line worked relessly throughout the en re game and definitely each and everyone of you stood up down the court! Lauren Fensom played a pearler, along with Stell and Larns! We need to ensure going forward we con nue to execute the basics and maintain possession of the ball coming into the tougher opponents we will face! Let's train hard, back one another and really enjoy the next few weeks of netball! Great work ladies! A Grade: A solid effort last week girls a er a very long break. Everyone played 60 minutes of hard fought netball and we could see the hard work paying off from trainings. Our a ack line was mostly pa ent and used our smarts to create good passages of play. Defensively it was a great game to watch, everyone worked relessly all game. Very hard to choose best players but Tayla (Fasta Pasta) and Casey (New Haven Indian) took home the awards. Great work girls.
ROUND 17 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW MOUNT BURR v HATHERLEIGH In what was arguably the match of the round, Mount Burr started strong, turning over Hatherleigh's first centre pass to covert on the scoreboard and take the early lead. Play con nued going goal for goal for the remainder of this quarter. Lacey Haines was the focus in Hatherleigh's a acking end and made hard work for Mount Burr’s Madi Hagge and Heidi Clark. An injury to Sarah Faulkner late in the quarter, saw Rosie Ne le coming on at C and transi oning smoothly into the game. This resulted in a ght contest between Rosie and Laura Schultz. The quarter ended with Mount Burr 1 goal up. The second quarter saw Mount Burr assert some dominance with goalies Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty shoo ng accurately, conver ng on all opportuni es provided. Hatherleigh's Sarah Faulkner re-entered the match running hard through the middle. Madi Hagge and Heidi Clark combined well to restrict the Hatherleigh goalies for the dura on of this quarter, providing numerous opportuni es for Mount Burr’s a acking end. Mount Burr finished this quarter up by 6. With a changed line up, as Maddie Redman moved into GK and Chelsea Galpin entered the game at GD, Hatherleigh fought their way back into the match. Lara McGregor was valuable for Hatherleigh's defensive line, making Ava Muhovics fight for every possession and taking numerous mely intercepts all over the court. Strong defensive pressure combined with good feeding from Tegan Merre into Keston Green at the post allowed Hatherleigh to reduce the margin and eventually take the lead for the first of the match. Hatherleigh went into the last quarter 1 goal up. Both teams entered the final quarter unchanged. Mount Burr's Sarah Nulty found her way into the match and showed dominance in the a acking end. Both team’s mid-courters ran hard in what was evenly matched play. Madi Hagge and Heidi Clark li ed in an a empt to give their side every chance possible to take the points at the final whistle. Play con nued goal for goal for much of the 15-minute
period however Mount Burr took the lead in the final minutes winning the game 37 to 36. KALANGADOO v KONGORONG Kalangadoo started strong with the defensive combina on of Mikalia Pi and Chelsea Croser working relentlessly in the circle to provide plenty of scoring opportuni es for Kalangadoo, as they went into the first quarter break with a lead 29 to 6. Both teams remained unchanged during the second quarter. Kongorong's centre Sam Fox worked hard to feed her goalies Ella McIntyre and Tilah Buckingham who converted accurately. Riley Buckingham and Kalangadoo's Jane Auld had a ght contest with Buckingham making Auld earn every possession. Kalangadoo went into the main break with a 35 goal lead. At half me the young Kongorong team made a couple of changes including switching Buckingham into goal defence, moved Georgia Bald to wing defence and brought on the fresh legs of Kate Wright into centre. Kalangadoo's goal a ack Abbey Duncan made an impact defensively and used her speed to her advantage. Together with Melissa Russell they used their experience to accurately convert scoring opportuni es. The final quarter saw Sam Fox re-enter the game in C. Kongorong's circle defence con nued to work hard and made the most of rebounding opportuni es. Kalangadoo were able to convincingly run the game out strongly to finish 102 goals to Kongorong 27. Best players - Kalangadoo: Abbey Duncan and Chloe Pra ; Kongorong: Riley Buckingham and Ella McIntyre. PORT MACDONNELL v ROBE Port MacDonnell started strong in the first quarter winning the quarter 11 to 9. The bay con nued their posi ve and strong start into the second quarter with goalies Brooke Williams and Kirby Carrison working well but made very hard by Robe defenders Alannah Campbell and Georgia Perkins.
www.idmsports.com.au
Robe began to li , changes were made by both teams which worked in Robe’s favour, winning the last 2 quarters. Robe goalie Tori Gluyas shoo ng well coming into the last quarter. Coming into the last quarter Robe started strong and brought the margin back to level. Port Mac found something and li ed to come away with the win by a narrow margin of 2. TANTANOOLA v NANGWARRY Tantanoola started the game strongly with something to prove a er 3 weeks off the court due to the COVID break and having a bye. Tant’s mid court Vic Lucas and Casey Walker combined well with quick movement and ball release into the goalies. Tant led into the first quarter break 22-8. Nangwarry made a change coming into second term with Jemma Parsons coming on at GK in place of Chrystal Lock. Parsons and Carly Ploenges worked hard to stop the feed into Tant GS Emma Gould strong hold by doubling up on her but GA Jami Walker stepped up shoo ng 10 for the quarter alone and drawing the defender well to free Gould up. It was a strong quarter for Tant with Gould shoo ng at 100% for the quarter sinking 16 shots. Tant went into the half me break up 48-17. Nangwarry li ed their intensity coming into the third quarter with WD Taysha James and GD Ploenges playing the space well in defence to stop Tant’s flow into the a ack line. At the other end Tant’s GK Tayla Rowe and GD Kate Bromley combined well in defence with Rowe’s height causing some headaches for the feeders. Tant maintained their lead heading into third quarter break 66-28. No changes for either side coming into final term. Tant’s Alex Walker and opponent Kylie Heaver had a good tussle both figh ng to win their posi on. Heaver fed well into GS Casey Dinnison who found some space shoo ng accurately for the last term. Tant took any missed opportunity and transi oned the ball quickly into Gould at GS. Tant too strong for Nangwarry in the end. Final score 84-40.
