match of the round

HOSTED BY ROBE FOOTBALL & NETBALL CLUB The men and women who forged the ANZAC spirit made sure that those who led them earned their respect. They all understood the values of independence, freedom and fairness and - above all possessed a willingness to defend these things if need be. Because freedom only survives as long as people are willing to defend it. That is the spirit ANZAC handed down to us. The Robe Football and Netball Club will gather this coming weekend, as we shall always gather, not to glorify war but to stand with the people we love in a community we value. This community values who we are and the freedoms we possess and stands united in its support of the courage and sacrifice of those who contributed so much in shaping the iden ty of this proud na on, and those that con nue to serve. On behalf of the Robe Football & Netball Club execu ve, members, sponsors and volunteers I am proud to present to you the Inaugural Robe ANZAC day 2021. Playing our tradi onal rivals and closest neighbours, Hatherleigh, for the Mid South

East League’s match of the round. For the past four years, the community of Robe has embraced the Robe to Recovery ini a ve, hos ng veterans and their families as they spend a few days enjoying respite and relaxing within the suppor ve community. Countless locals have offered their homes and holiday home owners have offered up their rentals to veterans, along with an extensive list of shop, cafes, ac vity providers and individuals dona ng vouchers, goods and services, along with personal notes of welcome. Preceding the A Grade game, the match football will be delivered by the Mach 5 Wingsuit Team and the Naracoorte Light Horse Regiment will complete a lap of the oval. Footballers and netballers from both clubs will be present on the ground to hear the Australian and New Zealand na onal anthem and hear local bugler Bob Emery play the Last Post, followed by a minute's silence to honour those who have served and the raising of the flags. Players will be vying for the best on ground medal, which

has been generously designed and donated by local jewellers, Ruffells. Best footballer will receive the David 'Baldy' Miller medal, veteran, and past player and president of the Robe Football Club. Best netballer on court, will receive the Eileen Canny medal, honouring a local nurse who served in WWI. Dinners will be held inside the club as normal with an expected overflow of visitors being catered to through the canteen window with stand up dining provided under marquees around firepits on

the lawns around the oval. Entertainment will be provided by local duo 'Limestone Americana' to finish the days events. With an early rise the following morning to join the RSL at their cketed dawn service. For Robe to Recovery members, ANZAC 2021 will be about giving back to the Robe community, thanking our supporters and sponsors and to showcase their successful respite program as evidence that no ma er how small the town, much can be achieved.

VIEW FROM THE HILL Well, what a bumper year we are in for in the Mid SE. The A Grade comp looks reasonably compe ve with a couple of results a li le surprising, whist others went as expected. Whilst the result of the Tantanoola, Kongorong match did not overly surprise this li le black duck, the margin however did – Kongorong by 85pts was much more than most pundits would've predicted, unless of course you were wearing 'yellow n black', and even then, I'm not so sure any would've seen such a comprehensive win coming. Kongorong were quick out of the blocks and by the look of the scorecard were never really headed. Apart from a lapse during the 3rd quarter where both sides only scored 2 goals apiece Kongorong always looked in control. The big difference maybe was the influence Kongorong's recruits had on the game. They were clearly a step ahead of their opposi on, with Cam Sandercock and the returning Ma Cordy both pitching in for 4 goals apiece and Ma Weistra chipping in with 3. The recruits also did the damage around the ground with the evergreen Sco Fleming producing a BOG performance, both Ma 's in Cordy and Weistra named 2nd and 3rd best respec vely and Charles Schultz, Michael Waters and Corben O'Dea rounding at the best for the victors. Tantanoola on the other hand were again without coach Jak Ryan. The Tant boys ba led hard all day, with their only mul ple goal scorers being Nick Harris and 'H' – Hayden Brown. Good to see young Jack Dawe get the nod as the home sides best, closely followed by another youngster in Brandon Pi s. Chris Oliver is star ng to have an impact with another best player award going his way, with Alec Roberts and Roy Osborne also again in the best players. Down at the Bay, the match of the day between Port MacDonnell and Kalangadoo did not disappoint. In a high scoring match the visitors came away with the win 15-18 to 16-3. Port MacDonnell were quick out of the blocks making each scoring opportunity count with 6 goals from 8 scoring opportuni es, whilst down the other end, Kalangadoo had just as much of the ball but could only post 27 on the scoreboard. Kalangadoo started domina ng general play and at the long break were just a point behind on the scoreboard. A bit of déjà vu was playing out for Port MacDonnell as the game and margin was not too dissimilar to last week. A tough and hard third quarter saw both sides kick four goals, but a few more points for the Kdoo boys and they had taken the lead by that solitary point with a quarter to play. The last quarter was another even affair with the Bay boys kicking four straight to Kalangadoo's 5-2 to see them victors by just 9pts. Port MacDonnell can probably count themselves a li le lucky as Kalangadoo's inaccuracy in front of goal kept the margin to single digits. Port MacDonnell on the other hand were extremely efficient with a final score line of 16-3. Mul ple goal kickers for Kalangadoo were Michael Krieger and Ben Gregory who finished the day with 4 goals apiece and the experienced Ben Mules chipped in with 3. Kevin Thomson for Port MacDonnell again kicked 5 goals, not a bad effort against quality opposi on and Dylan Bromley booted home 3 goals for the home

side. Be er players for Kalangadoo went the way of Chris Mules, Sam Casey, Mitch Lowe, Billy Galpin, Lachie Jones and Tom Williams. For Port MacDonnell Tim Sullivan was named their best, closely followed by Darron McElroy, Kev Thomson, Tre Davis, Dylan Bromley and Blake Lynch. Mick & Jean Walker oval hasn't been a happy hun ng ground for Glencoe in recent years, and Saturday was no different, with the Ian McInnes Shield returning to Mt Burr with a 19pt win over the Murphies. In a rela vely even first quarter, Glencoe appeared to be able to match Mt Burr ini ally for speed around the ground, the ques on was if this could be sustained. The short answer was no, as the second quarter was all Mt Burr. The Wallis brothers were rock solid in defence keeping the visitors goal less for the quarter. Ben Swan was doing his best at the other end of the ground, but on the flip side, big bodied Hamish Smith bobbed up to kick 6 goals for the game in a dominate display. If not for the efforts of Swan, Dylan Childs and Pat Mitchell the score line at half me could've been a lot worse for the visitors. A er half me it was a more even affair, but the Murphies were always playing catch up footy. They got within a couple of goals at mes, or so one thought as the scoreboard a endant was intent on si ng right in front of the score for the majority of the match, but with the likes of Josh Fiebig, Peter Guye and Nathan 'Ninja' Muhovics running rampant across half back and through the midfield they were able to post a winning score. Apart from Smith's 6 goals for the day, Jack Gregory finished the day with 2 as did Kallan Bevan, an amazing contribu on seeing this young fella is only 14 years of age! No surprises with Mt Burr's best players being listed as Sam Wallis, Hamish Smith, James Wallis, Josh Fiebig, Peter Guye and Nathan Muhovics. For Glencoe Tom Edwards kicked 4 and provided some muchneeded leg speed around the ground, with big Alex 'Sauce' Hentschke finishing the day with 2 goals and lots of points (if only?) Be er players to get the nod from the Glencoe bench were Ben Swan, Sam Giersch, who played a good last half, Pat Mitchell, Dylan Childs, Declan Hurley and Jason Bates. Oh dear! Just when we all thought Nangwarry might just be a li le more compe ve this year, along comes Robe and thumps the Saints by 200+pts. Unfortunately for Nangwarry, the game wasn't much more than a Saturday training run for the Roosters who did as they liked, when they liked and when some sides tend to ease up the longer the match progresses, Robe got be er, kicking 12 goals in the first half and 22 in the second. Robe used the ball extremely efficiently and overall were too fast, too slick and too skilled for their young and inexperienced opposi on. New player to the club Jordan Hentschke led the goal kickers for the day with 7, closely followed by Zac Deane with 6. It would've been a hard task picking best players for Robe as all players contributed and played their role for the team. BOG went the way of Tom Williams and good to see Jack 'Chipper' Kelly ge ng 2nd best from the bench. Zac Deane once again was everywhere, kicking 6 goals and picking up 3rd best. For Nangwarry, they

would no doubt be very disappointed, but then again, they have come up against two very good sides in the first two rounds. Coach Luke Thomson was their sole goal kicker with be er players being Logan Gibbs, Johnathon Mills and Sam Shaw. To our round 3 matches over the ANZAC weekend and all roads lead to Robe for their huge Robe to Recovery weekend and match against arch rivals Hatherleigh. The game no doubt will be very reminiscent of the spirit of the ANZACs and will be a great spectacle from the first bounce to the final siren. Both sides have had 'so ' starts to the season, but the footy will decidedly get a tad more serious come 2pm Saturday. Both sides have a quick midfield and here is where the game might just be won or lost. Whoever gets first use of the ball out of the middle and takes advantage of their opportuni es will be singing their song at 5pm tonight. Nangwarry will be on the road to Kongorong looking for a much-improved effort. The Saints need to keep their heads high and with a bit of self-belief, get back to basics and concentrate on doing the fundamentals right. Kongorong are s ll a rela vely new side who no doubt will be looking to strengthen their game plan with a tough couple of games ahead of them. Kongorong will be looking for their first win at home this season and unfortunately for Nangwarry it will be a home side victory. Another game that could easily take match of the round mantle is between Kalangadoo and Mt Burr. Kalangadoo with their newly completed renova ons will be looking for a win on their home deck to put the icing on the cake of a very busy and produc ve couple of years. This will be a tough hard match with a lot of great young talent in both sides. You can never underes mate Kalangadoo as they have shown in recent years that when they get a sniff of victory, nothing stands in their way. Mt Burr's defence was their ace last week, but they will be truly tested this week against Kalangadoo. Ben Gregory and Ben Mules are likely to get the a en on of the Wallis brothers, but who then minds the likes of Krieger and McManus x 2? Up the other end Hamish Smith and Jack Gregory will cause their fair share of headaches for the Kalangadoo defenders and they will also need their younger brigade to step up to have any chance of a victory. Glencoe hosts Tantanoola in the final match of the round, which will see one team get their first win for the year. Both sides will be desperate, as the alterna ve, 0-3 is not a very a rac ve outlook. Glencoe haven't been too far behind two very good sides in Port MacDonnell and Mt Burr in the past fortnight, their biggest downfall at the moment is the lack of any real forward structure. Tantanoola have been both hot and cold, matching Robe for a fair bit of their first match, but found Kongorong far too polished and were never really in the match at all. Both sides have their fair share of talent all over the ground however, it will be the team that can put it all together on the day and play a good brand of team footy who will come away with the win.

It was great to start our campaign with 2 really impressive wins! Under 14s won a ght contest against a gallant Port Mac. Winning by 22 points. This was the under 14s first win since round 18 2018! Coach Searlo has the kids playing some really good footy! It was great to see all the smiles, hard work pays off! Best players were Ollie Gribben, Tom Gribben, Joe Box and Coop McCann. Under 17s had a tough day Saturday. Unfortunately we were undermanned, but that didn't stop the guys from giving it their all for the en re game. Best players were Jet, Tommy and Connor. As Benny said a er the game, keep working hard boys, results will come if we keep pu ng in hard work. The Ressies came up against a very very impressive Port Mac unit. They were fit and ran harder than us all day. There were a lot of new faces, it will take a li le me to gel and familiarise with each other's strengths and weaknesses. There were some posi ves with

Squid rucking all day and being named our best player in his first game for the club. Jus n Mansell worked hard all day. The Seniors came out and started quickly but couldn't convert our opportuni es in front of goal. Port Mac gained momentum and kicked straight to lead early. The second qtr was very similar with a lot of hard contested footy. We started well again in the 3rd but didn't make the most of our opportuni es and it was a real wrestle. 3 quarter me, coach Starky and Dallas started to move some magnets. Swinging Benny forward and boo ng 4 goals. We ran out winners by a close 11 points. The focus this week at training will be goal kicking. We kicked 16 goals 18 points. Well done to all who made the journey to the Commersh a er the game, it was an extremely successful 1st ou ng for the club! This week brings Mount Burr to Kalangadoo. Which will be the 1st me using our new completed upgrade of the community club! Go Maggies!

Our first home game saw a great turnout with the oval and surrounds in great condi on thanks to the volunteers who contribute to keep our facili es looking great. Football results saw us win just the A Grade but the other grades competed very hard. It was good for Kami and Lu to see the Ian McInnes Shield come back to the Burr, a great night was had by all that night at our Launch Night. Congratula ons to Sam Wallis on his 100th game. Junior Colts: Last week we were short with numbers with a couple boys away. Thanks to Glencoe for lending us a few to make sure the kids had a good run. Another impressive game by our boys who ba led all day again. Unfortunately the result wasn’t what we wanted but we will work on that going forward and hopefully we will see a different result soon. Down back Declan Brant was strong as well as Jensen Gamble, Socks was good on ball with Will and Charlie. We look forward to this week and having a crack. Senior Colts: Last weekend the boys took on a very talented Glencoe side and went down by 3 points in a very close and exci ng game. Glencoe got the jump on us kicking 3 goals in first 5 minutes. Our boys fought hard to gain the

lead back but Glencoe scored a goal with a couple of minutes to go. Best players were Calum Sparkes, Cohen Montuori, Kallan Bevan, Charlie Bevan, Will Wimshurst, Muhammad Abduvhobov and Lachlan Alcock. If the boys keep up the hard work the results will come. Good luck to all teams against the Doo A Grade: First home game for 2021 was awesome. Can hill ran out of beer, supporters everywhere and in the A Grade we were able to bring home the Ian Kieth McInnes Memorial Shield. Glencoe pushed us right un l the final siren and the game was always on edge but I was happy with how our boys were able to withstand and reply when needed. Great again to have a wide spread of goal scorers and was awesome to see Big Smithy kick 6. Congratula ons goes to

Sam Wallis who played in his 100th game and also took out BOG honours - another solid honest game from him. Best players were S. Wallis, H. Smith, J. Wallis, J. Fiebig, Horse & Ninja. Onto Kalangadoo this week, looking forward to another tough challenge on their home deck. Go Burr!

The trip over to Mount Burr on the weekend was a successful one for the footy, with the Murphies securing 3 wins for the day, but missing out on taking the choccies in the all important late game. It was great to once again see a decent crowd make the trip over to support the teams and players, which makes for a great atmosphere and gives everyone that extra leg when needed. Junior Colts: Once again the minis got the day off to a posi ve start, playing some very good team oriented footy and showing lots of enthusiasm and camaraderie throughout the game. It was fantas c to see some of the Glencoe players helping Mount Burr out to fill their side as they were unfortunately struggling for numbers on the day. Well done to those who swapped guernseys to ensure that a game could go ahead. Rang must have the minis honing their skills every Thursday as they were deadly accurate in front of the s cks recording only two behinds for the day while slo ng 8 goals. Sammy Haase had a day out picking up first best along with adding 3 majors to the team total. Watching him zip around the field with a bit of toe and agility, it looks like he's inherited Mum's genes there. Lachlan Brierly played a solid four quarters of consistent footy to pick up second best while coach Rang was very pleased with Bailey Dale's efforts using his body and taking on some of the bigger players with determina on to take out third best. Kade Mulraney, in his first game for the club played extremely well to feature at 4th best and Hamish Gordon also played some good footy for the second week running to round out the best players on the day. Senior Colts: In the second game of the day, the Senior Colts obviously weren't paying a en on to the Junior Colts accuracy in front of the goal recording 24 scoring shots to the Burr's 17 to eventually run out winners by a mere two points. The boys got out to a hot start in the first quarter to get out to an early 19 point lead, but went away from their focus on hun ng the footy to let Mount Burr back in over the course of the next 3 quarters, falling behind late in the game. In a ghtly contested fourth quarter with both teams trading punches, the Glencoe lads pulled themselves together to pull back within 4 points with barely any me le on the clock. Excitement and tension was at a breaking point with even the Ressies calling a halt to their pre-game (it didn't take much convincing) to watch in an cipa on how the final minute would unfold. Things looked grim when the Burr Boys sent the footy deep into their own forward line where a stoppage would have almost ended the game. But this is where heroes are made. With the ball entering a mass of players, spectators would see a mullet haired gladiator covered in maroon and gold emerge from the pack, dragging 5 (at least) Burr Boys in his wake as he powered out of the defensive 50 to send the ball into our own half of the ground (take a bow Hugh Talbot) where Will Maloney was wai ng. With some silky moves the ball was sent deep into our 50, where Mount Burr reinforcements had arrived, but this made no difference to Cam Brooks, who was able to cleanly gather the ball in the pocket while under pressure and on a ght angle showed extreme composure, class and 'clutch' to snap the goal of the day to put Glencoe in front with seconds to play. This was a fantas c effort by the lads to never give up, but also a good lesson to maintain focus on the footy and when you're on a winning formula, s ck with it. Cam Brooks con nued his purple patch to take out best, while Will Maloney took out second best with an awesome haul of 7 majors. Luke King, Darcy Williamson, Oscar Hunt and Guillaume Ros-Smith rounded out the best players in a great team effort. Reserves: The Ressies took the field buoyed by the excitement of the Senior Colts win with a vastly different side that took the field from the previous week. With a number of players returning from injury, a few new inclusions and a cracking new streamlined haircut for the skipper, Easter, the boys were determined to put up a be er effort than the previous week. The opening quarter was a tough encounter with both teams ge ng forward entries regularly but the difference was the back 6 of the Murphies who worked well as a unit, lead by the Big

2nd qtr

3rd qtr

Fish providing drive from centre half back, that was able to restrict Mount Burr's scoring opportuni es. Hughesy was once again a livewire across half back, showing determina on and aggression against his old side, while father/son combo Marcus and Taz McGrath worked well under pressure to consistently halt forward advances. The ac on couldn't have been that entertaining from the sidelines however, with Gards deciding to have a snooze on the bench mid match while the lads on the field went about their business. Up forward, Ben Curran and Ali Sco once again provided fantas c targets to end up kicking 3 goals apiece, but also set the standard with tackling pressure and manning up when not in possession of the ball. The pace of the game dropped off in the last quarter with the legs ge ng heavy and oxygen intake at a premium, but the boys managed to persist and run (jog or walk) out the game as 35 point victors. Nick 'Fish' Herring, who looked to have brought his own cheer squad, was easily best on the day, while Hughesy con nued his good form to feature at second best. Ben Curran proved he can not only produce children but also scoreboard pressure, to feature in the best (congrats on the upcoming arrival Cuz!) Rounding out the best were the staples of the back six, Old and Young McGrath and also Pulfy who had another great game. Big thanks to Rang who donned the fluoro to umpire the B Grade as the umpiring ranks are thin across the board. I reckon I s ll saw that old twinkle in the eye from Rang whenever the ball got too close as well… Well done lads, now let's hit the track and build on what we've started! A Grade: In the main game for the day, it appeared the Murphies had le their pressure, intensity and aggression back at the Glencoe Spor ng Complex from the previous Saturday, as a disappoin ng first half appeared to be their undoing. An inability to apply scoreboard pressure in the forward half of the ground allowed the Burr Boys to get out to a commanding 26 point lead that would never be recovered. At the half me break Frazer was able to accurately highlight and communicate the key deficiencies with the Murphies' play, mainly concerning clearances, and then relaying how they would go about fixing it. To the boys' credit, they were able to implement Frazer's direc ves, and with a few posi onal changes, were able to outscore Mount Burr in the final half. Swanny appeared to enjoy reacquain ng himself with the game seeking out contact and helping some opposing O'Brien Electrical workers with their jobs by nearly turning out the lights, earning himself first best honours. Gierschy played well down back all day, never giving up and dishing out spoil a er spoil to feature at second best. Credit to Gierschy for finishing out the game as he must have been a solid candidate for the concussion rule a er the greatest Falcon ever seen in front of the crowd down the changeroom end. Pa y Mitch con nued on from his form last week, being a general down back, but also providing some much needed drive in the midfield when called upon, providing the spark that almost got the boys well and truly back into the game. Dylan Childs was once again everywhere, working relessly to provide scoring opportuni es for the forwards, racking up the disposals, and once again, the kilometres. Fi h best proves that the Milkman does s ll deliver, with Declan Hurley in his first senior season, tackling and spoiling consistently while also demonstra ng good hand and foot skills to get the ball out of the defensive 50. Rounding out the best was Bater who put in a solid four quarters over the course of the day. Special men ons must go to Simon 'Cockneck' Phillips, picking up a few possessions behind the goals during the A Grade. These were Simmo's first possessions outside of the goal square since 2010. Also BOG must go to Bonnie Rothall for her sledging efforts on opposi on O'Brien employees during the game. I get the feeling Greggsy will have a lot of trenching jobs and ceiling work this coming week. Today we are at home against Tantanoola where the A Grade will be looking to get their first win of the season, while the Ressies a empt to build on their success from last week. Both junior teams will also be looking to con nue their unbeaten run. C'mon, let's get a er it! Go Murphies!

Congratula ons to Hayden Brown who this week plays his 200th senior game for the Tigers. H has played his whole career at Tant apart from a season where he wasn't in the district due to work commitments. We will be celebra ng his 200th A Grade game in weeks to come. Well done H on a stellar career so far! Some great events are coming up this season with Hypno st Isaac Lomman on June 5th a er Hatherleigh, Rump and Red July 17th and Mexican iPod Shuffle night on August 14th. There will also be presenta ons at 3 of our sponsors during the year so please keep an eye on our Facebook page and Social Calendar for more informa on. Sponsors are an important part of running our club and we appreciate the support we get from businesses and families/individuals, your generosity is crucial for our club. All sponsors can be found on our website. Please support those who support us. www.tantanoolafootballclub. spor ngpulse.net Find us on Facebook: Tantanoola Football and Netball Club Junior Colts: Last week we took on Kongorong and with three of our kids away with school holidays I sung out to Hatherleigh to see if anyone would help us out as we didn't have many and they were only too happy to help. Thank you to all the families who brought their kids out I hope they had fun. It was a very good game of junior footy where both teams were really tackling well and at stages the ball movement was fast and precise which made it a great game to watch. We managed to get in front in the second half and kicked away late in a very good win. Best players were Ashton, Brayden, Braydn, Levi, Ryder & Thomas. Awards: Lucas canteen, Thomas - Jennings family, Eli - Hungry Jacks, Jake McDonalds. Senior Colts: The under 17 boys played a great game and they moved the ball very well. They

linked up with a chain of handball as they ran the ball up the ground and the way they won it out of the centre made it a great game to watch. Well done boys, let's go again this Saturday. B Grade: Last weekend saw our guys take on Kongorong in our first home game since August 2019, unfortunately we didn't get the win but our effort and intent was a lot be er than round 1. We had 12 changes to our side from the Robe game and I was really proud of everyone who stepped up and played for us on the day. Best on ground was Jack Radley in his first game of the year, closely followed by Pidge, Bommer and then a couple of colts in Corey Baker and Ellis Cushion. We are hoping to have quite a few troops back this week to take on Glencoe. Go Tigers! A Grade: G'day everyone. Round 2 of the MSEFL saw us take on Kongorong Hawks at Tantanoola. The boys came ready to play and were hungry for the season’s first win, but the Hawks came out of the gates stronger and got their first win for the season over the Tiges. The boys remained posi ve, enthusias c and retained the hunger to move onto next week. We have fresh faces in the 1s and will take some me to gel which is exci ng for later on down the track. Young Jack Cytrowski played his first senior game and held his own very well moving from back pocket to half forward all day. Chris Oliver shined in the backline and led by example, Roy Osborne did his role again which earnt him a spot in the best, Alec Roberts ran had all day and con nuously got up a er every knock down, Brandon Pi s the newly appointed captain stood up for his backline and earned 2nd best and lastly Jack Dawe ran hard all day with very clean skills with the ball earnt himself best on ground for the first me since returning to the club. On to Glencoe this week with a recovered squad to hopefully bring home the choccies for the first me in 2021.

kongorong nangwarry

Today we welcome members of the RSL, the Rogers family, and the Nangwarry Football/Netball Clubs to Kongorong's ANZAC Day Match. We honour and pay our respects to our fallen soldiers, and acknowledge the sacrifice our Defence Forces, both past and present, made/make for our Country. We hope you will join us for a minute's silence, followed by Mel Whi y singing the Na onal Anthem, prior to the A Grade game commencing. On last week's games... Junior Colts: Travelling up the road to Tantanoola is always a tough challenge, as they play their home ground really well and last week was no different. With the added support of a few handy Hatherleigh lads to boost numbers, and a couple of our bigger lads away, was always going to be a tough day out. We got off to a flyer with the 1st goal of the day and in no me but unfortunately couldn't match Tant for the remainder of the game. There were some very good patches of play throughout the day, but a bit of work on the track this week, as we look to welcome Nangwarry back at Kongorong. Best players could have once again gone to a few different players but con nuing on from where he le off Tyler Richardson took home the Swallow Drive Meats Award for best on ground. Nate Von Stanke-Dowie played a couple of different roles throughout the game, but off the back flank early on, was in everything and hardly beaten to take home the Rocks Shop Award. Bam Kent rucked the full game and hardly beaten to be able to provide our midfielders 1st use of the ball took the Rocks Tavern Award. In his 1st game for the club Harrison Elletson was in and under all day, and is going to develop into a handy player, taking home the Mick Mullan Award. Coaches Award was a tough one as it could have gone to several players who ba led hard but set a task at full back and with plenty of the ball down that end of the ground, Kane Ashby ba led hard for 5th best. Rounding out the best players Jacko Bald another who ba led relessly all day in the back line, received the Angelino Family Award. Looking forward to ge ng back to our home ground and welcoming the Saints next up. Senior Colts: Today we come up against a good on ball ou it in Tantanoola, and they showed us good skills and a clean set of heals for 2 quarters. To our boys, that's what we need to bring to the game. A er half me a few lads kicked into gear and started to run and link up. Our leader, Jake Whi y, led from the front, played well in the 6 posi ons we asked him to play, taking out the Birdie Blue Award. 2nd best went to a good fought game that seen him in the middle of most contests and really kept his head over the ball, with George Stanley taking home the MT Wheels Award. Jake Carrigan put his body in the contest all day and rebounded well from half back taking home the Janeway Concre ng Award. 4th best was Harry Langlands, was given a job and never wavered from it while on the ball, and showed glimpses of how we need to play giving op ons for link ups through the middle. 5th best went to James Allan and he too was thrown in many posi ons trying to find a way to stop Tant’s

2nd qtr

3rd qtr

run, never giving up, no ma er what he was asked to play gaining the Badenoch's Deli Award. Rounding out the awards with the Spot-On Award was Maverick Cooper showing his intent and desire to win the footy ba led hard and when forward showed a good op on. Missing out, but worthy of a men on, was Campbell Graney giving us run from the backline, but we just let him down with no link up op ons that he was trying to create, and when on the ball or in a contest was making his presence felt. We pick things back up now, and look to a good contest against Nangas this week. B Grade: In typical B Grade fashion we had about 8 changes from the previous week. We went out to a face a determined Tant side and it remained even in the first quarter. In the second, we controlled 90% of the play but kicking 2 goals 6, we kept them in it. The third quarter Tant controlled the play early, but we se led to be up by a few goals and then we added a few more in the last to win by 42 points. Best player on the day went to lanky Bryce James, in the ruck. Returning to the club a er a few years absence, second best went to Tony 'Plugger' Elletson, who hasn't played a game in defence since the dropkick has been gone. Liam 'Bobby' Durcan put in a solid performance to be named third best, fourth best went to Andrew 'Noddy' Telford. Jack Mullan in at CHF put in another strong performance ge ng fi h best, followed by Brad Long in sixth. A Grade: Well, what a day for footy. Tantanoola oval was in pris ne condi on which made for a good game of footy. Great to have the skipper in Bryn Weaver back in the side, and we kicked with the breeze to start us off in good stead. The boys rallied last week, star ng well, and working together showing some good glimpses of footy, going into the half me break with a handy lead. Tantanoola came out hard in the third quarter, but the boys held strong, and went on to win by 80 odd points at the final siren. kongorong nangwarry

It was great to see so many people at our first home game for 2021. It was a tough day for the Saints against Robe with no wins, if we all s ck together hopefully, we will be rewarded soon. Congratula ons to Ben Dinnison who played his 250 game for the Nangwarry Football Club against Robe. The Dinnison name is a big part of the history that is NFC. Not too many families stay at one club for a life me, but the NFC has seen Ben, his two brothers and father all play their en re careers at one club and this should be acknowledged and praised. We thank and congratulate Ben for his commitment not only as a player but also as a volunteer. We also held a minute silence on the footy oval with the Robe teams in memory of our life member Jenny Perry. Thank you to everyone who par cipated. It was a great way to honour a pivotal member of our clubs. Round 2 sponsors are Godrick Construc on and Highway Mechanical. The Nangwarry Netball and Football Clubs are extremely excited to have both back in season 2021 as pla num sponsors. We thank Godrick for the outstanding work they have done to upgrade the changerooms during the break. We highly recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade. We also acknowledge Highway Mechanical and hope our supporters support both companies in 2021. Under 11: Really impressed with the kids endeavour Saturday. Some real slick ball movement for under 11s which was great to see. Plenty of kids running past for handballs, heaps of shepherds as well. Junior Colts: Our first home game of the year saw us host Robe. Robe got the jump on us early and put through 5 goals in the first quarter without us scoring. From 1/4 me onwards we managed to hold Robe to 6 goals while boo ng one of our own. The endeavour of our young Saints could not be ques oned as they chased and tackled hard all day and put together some clean passages of play. Best players for the day were Riley at full back who ba led all day against a much bigger opponent. Archer was again racking up the touches all over the ground and Noah ran all day and led from the front. Harvey, Calais and Wya rounded out the best players. Thanks again to everyone that helped on the day and our player sponsors.

Senior Colts: Again our boys have come up against a very big, strong and slick team. Although the scoreboard didn't look pre y by the end of it, our Saints con nue to show some very good ball movement coming out of defence but unfortunately, we don't have the size in the forward line to be able to put it on the scoreboard just yet. The Junior Colts who have been playing have been doing a terrific job applying pressure and I for one cannot wait un l they hit their next growth spurt! Unfortunately, the next couple of games are again against teams that will finish high on the ladder and I urge all our players and supporters to not lose faith in what we are doing now. We are not anywhere near our des na on yet and while there will be some struggles throughout our journey, we will see brighter days ahead! Best players: Jye Whitehouse, Jacob Schmi , Ty Dinnison, Archer Virtanen, Zaidyn Tweed and Taj Bell. B Grade: Unfortunately, another heavy lose against a Robe side that has much improved in the off-season. I think the most disappoin ng part was the fact we could only fill 16 and a big thank you to the 4 Senior Colts that stepped up and played. Cookie Dinnison was clearly best on ground for us and saved countless scores in defence. Vesa never stopped presen ng, Locky tried hard in the guts and Josh Clayfield, Josh Mills and Robbie Hicks never gave up and were part of some be er passages in the 2nd half. The upcoming game against Kongorong will be an important one, we need players to commit to playing on Saturday so we can play some resemblance of team football otherwise these results will con nue. A Grade: Round 2 vs a very good Robe ou it was an up and down day! We celebrated Benny Dinnison's 250th unfortunately we could not get the result we wanted! Up un l 3 quarter me we were playing good footy but just could not get the score on the board. Unfortunately, in the last quarter we had 15 fit blokes, so we were chasing tail. Young Jacob Schmi come in for his first senior game and more then held his own! Logan Gibbs ba led all day and Jonny Mills was good again. A er two weeks I've learnt that the scoreboard doesn't exactly tell the story, as a team and club we are improving, and we are moving in the right direc on. I'm looking forward to the next fortnight to see how we go.

Round 2 saw us travel over to Nangwarry and we were honoured to join the club in a minutes silence for Life Member Jenny Perry. Although the final scores don’t acknowledge it, Nangwarry fought all day and never dropped their heads. This week sees us hos ng Hatherleigh for our much an cipated ANZAC round and our en re community is buzzing with excitement and pride. We would like to ask all players, officials, spectators and visitors to please ensure an extra ten minutes or so on arrival as we are expec ng large numbers and must ensure we follow COVID safe protocols to keep everyone safe and healthy. For more details please see the write up in this week’s budget. Please ensure you have checked on game star ng mes as these will be slightly different to allow for pre match ceremony. Stay in touch with the Roosters: www.robefootballclub.com Facebook @RobeFNC Insta robefootballnetballclub Junior Colts: Last week we travelled down to Nangwarry hoping that we could register our first win of the season. We were greeted with very pleasant condi ons and a Nangwarry side that were up for the challenge. We started the game exactly the way we had planned and had a 5-goal lead at quarter me. The rest of the game was a real arm wrestle with Nangwarry applying a lot of pressure across the whole ground. Mason Mckenny created a presence up forward for most of the day boo ng 5 majors as well as bringing the ball to the ground for the small forwards to go to work. Captain Kaiden was back and was everywhere as per usual popping up and kicking two goals himself. The Moore brothers were also everywhere, and they rounded out the best players. Incen ves went to Taj Boundy who did absolutely nothing wrong all day and stopped numerous Nangwarry a acks and Ethan Carter who con nues to work hard at his cra and doesn't o en get beaten in a contest. This week we host the big ANZAC Day game against Hatherleigh who are always around the mark. It will be a great contest and we are looking forward to the challenge. Go Roosters. Senior Colts: Last week, we trekked down to Nangwarry for our first away game a er a win at home against Tantanoola. The Robe boys were eager to start the year well and get some wins on the board. Nangwarry sported some tall players but lacked numbers. We

2nd qtr

3rd qtr

shared 2 of our players with Nangwarry to make up the numbers for a contest. The Robe players who donned the Nangwarry guernsey played with pride and played to their full ability. Both teams came out swinging early. The Robe boys quickly gained dominance around the contest, hustling the ball forward with the likes of Ollie Hagge and George Du on sending probing kicks inside 50. Robe piled on 11 goals in the first half with Codee Weston kicking 4 for the day. Robe's ruckman, Mason Keane, racked up disposals all over the ground and caused some headaches for Nangwarry. In the second half of footy, Nangwarry stormed home with some of their best players launching the ball into their forward line. The Robe defence held up well and only allowed 2 points for the game. Jesse Robertson, Jay (not Jai) Lines, Max Robertson and Ollie McInnes were solid in the backlines and hur ng the opposi on on the rebound. The Robe boys came away with a 117-point win. Thanks to Nangwarry for the contest and their sportsmanlike conduct. This week we face a fierce Hatherleigh side in an ANZAC Day clash. Make sure you get there early to watch an epic ba le! I will see you there. Tom 'Woka' Wachtel A Grade: Robe travelled to Nangwarry a er a solid hit out against Tantanoola while Nangwarry had their colours lowered by Hatherleigh. Robe started the game moving the ball well and used Deane and Kelly well up forward to take a six goal lead at the end of the fist quarter. Nangwarry gathered themselves in the second and through constant pressure restricted Robe’s ability to score. Nangwarry however could not capitalise on their improved effort and Robe did eventually score as a result of cleaner ball use and cleaner system up forward. The problem the Saints have is that they see no results for their hard work and effort and therefore can become disheartened. In the third quarter Robe’s fitness and systems came to the for. The only thing that let them down was some inaccuracy in front of goal. Robe shared the ball well by both hand and foot. The Saints con nued to work hard but broke down across half forward. The last quarter was more of the same. Robe ran out the game well with everyone contribu ng which will place them in go stead for their upcoming game against Hatherleigh. Nangwarry have some work to do. They are skillfull but need to gel as a team.

Junior Colts: A nice way to kick off the season with a win, I was really happy with how the team played with everyone contribu ng there part in the win. Our new captain Ollie Fitzgerald was excep onal across the ground and finishing the game off with 3 goals, Charlie Sims and Riley Prouse were also excep onal and finding themselves amongst the goal kickers, Hudson Nowak had a good game up forward presen ng well kicking 3 goals, Jack Bellinger had a good game in ruck with special men ons to Chloe Bellinger kicking a goal. Best players: Ollie Fitzgerald, Charlie Sims, Hudson Nowak, Riley Prouse, Jack Bellinger, Chloe Bellinger Goal kickers: Hudson 3, Ollie Fitzgerald 3, Isaac chambers 2, Ethan marshal, Charlie Sims, Hannah Bellinger, Chloe Bellinger, Riley Prouse, Brayden Chambers, Winston Figg, Jacob Hall. Senior Colts: Senior Colts took on an undermanned but compe ve Nangwarry side to kick off the season. Blowy condi ons made it difficult throughout the game, but the boys managed to move the ball skilfully and to the structure they've been working on in the preseason. Bowie, Aky & Paddy were excep onal with big S cks giving them first touch. Special men ons to Je & Harv who were also great along with the lads who helped out the numbers for Nangwarry for the day. To Will Riley & Flynn, well done on your first game in Eagle colours. Reserves: Back to the footy at last! The boys were all keen to get out and blow out the cobwebs for our first hit out 2nd qtr

since our 2019 Grand Final win. Jack Kain and Altschy in the ruck gave our midfield first use of the footy all day. The boys that ran through the midfield played well together with some excellent passages of play. The forwards were some mes wayward in tricky windy condi ons but overall played some great team first football, sharing the ball around. We rotated our back line up the ground as well, with even Langy managing a couple of snags. Hainsey has a bit to work on at training in this department. Best was new player to the club Ayden Reid who ran hard all day and kicked a couple of goals. Jack Russell Rayson who tackles blokes twice his size. Kainy in the ruck. Thorny in his first game, and Rural down forward. Jacob Lang also had some great moments, pu ng his head over the ball and winning it for his team. Well done to Jez Jones on his 50th club game. A Grade: A er a long preseason, it was good to take the field again. Nangwarry were up to the challenge at the opening bounce. But the boys class shone through with a dominant performance. Joe Ferg was everywhere and had the ball on a string. Jake Wight had a busy day with 12 majors. Skeery chipped in with 5. Will Chay gave plenty of run all day, Fish had a great ba le in the ruck & Leary had a great day genera ng plenty from the back flank. Well done on Mikey, Jimmy, Jordy & Jake on their first games in the Blue & Gold. Also to Paddy Chay for his first game of senior footy.

100 senior games for glencoe’s abbie cocks Today, Abbie Cocks will take to the courts in her 100th senior game for the Glencoe Netball Club. Coming from a prominent Glencoe spor ng family, Abbie commenced her senior netball in 2014, in the B Grade side, the same team as her mum Jacqui. A quiet and unassuming player, Abbie goes about her netball with a minimum of fuss, but possesses great skill and is able to get the job done under pressure - watching her sink goals from anywhere in the goal circle is awesome to watch. Highlights of Abbie's seniors career are taking out League

Best & Fairest for B Reserve in 2018. In the same year she picked up the Club Best & Fairest in B Reserve, the Muzzy Schultz Memorial Trophy and her team won the premiership flag. Off the court Abbie is always one to help out and is a very regular umpire, having gained her C Badge in recent years. She has also helped out by previously being the Umpire Co-ordinator and this year has stepped up to take on the secretary role. The Glencoe Netball Club congratulates Abbie on this milestone and thanks her for her commitment both on and off the court.

ROUND 3 A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW KALANGADOO v MOUNT BURR Kalangadoo head home this week to take on Mount Burr in what is shaping up to be the game of the round. Kalangadoo were slick against Port MacDonnell with Abbey Duncan leading the way with her accurate shoo ng and Chelsea Croser not giving an inch in defence. Mount Burr had their first big test against Glencoe and came out on top with a 13 goal win. They will be out to prove themselves against powerhouse Kalangadoo. There will be some awesome match ups in each third, all eyes will be on the Burr's defensive duo of Heidi Clark and Madi Hagge as they try to tame Melissa Russell and Abbey Duncan who work brilliantly together in goals. Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty were very strong in goals for Mount Burr and will keep K'doo's defence on their toes all game. The mid-court ba le will be one to watch with K'doo's Jayde Peacock working relessly to gain the upper hand for her team, but expect Laura Schultz and Ann Guye to be constantly pu ng on the pressure through the middle. Accuracy of shooters will be important, with both teams defences capable of rebounding strongly and causing a turnover. Kalangadoo will be wan ng the win in front of their home crowd for the first me this year and Mount Burr coach Tamara Hagge will be doing everything she can to deny them this win. Should be a cracker game! GLENCOE v TANTANOOLA Glencoe take on Tantanoola at home and will be hoping to bounce back from their loss against Mount Burr. Tantanoola won their first game against Robe and defeated Kongorong by 36 goals last week, appearing to be in quite good form. The Tigers shoo ng combina on of

Emma Gould and Jami Walker are very dangerous together and will keep Glencoe's Sarah Edwards and Emily Thompson busy in defence. Glencoe's Caitlyn Hentschke and Malinda Markiewicz are also incredibly strong in goals and with Donna Jaeschke and Ashlea Edwards smart feeding into the goal circle, the Tigers defence line of Kate Bromley and Simone Li le will need to be on their game. The Tigers also introduced junior Tayla Rowe into their team last week at GK, expect her to play more A Grade games a er a very credible performance. Junior Madi Kelly also played her first A Grade game, it is good to see Tantanoola having talented juniors wai ng in the wings. Casey Walker was very impressive last week for the Tigers and will have a good ba le with Glencoe’s Rebecca Edwards. This game will be close with some brilliant matchups. I would expect Glencoe to bounce back strongly but Tantanoola won't let them have it all their own way. KONGORONG v NANGWARRY Kongorong are back at home this week to host Nangwarry. Both sides are winless and will be keen to get some points on the board. Kongorong defenders Ella McIntyre and Emily Lightbody worked well together last week against tough opposi on and will need to work hard again this week, possibly lining up against Angela Pra and the experienced Cassie Dinnison in goals. Riley Buckingham has also been a good pick up for Kongorong and along with McIntyre and Lightbody, she helps form a good defensive line. Hayley Burner and Kylie Heaver are strong through the centre for the Saints and will make Sarah Beare and Sam Fox earn every pass. Emalee Stokker has been good for the Hawks, giving them a strong target in

Proudly supporting the Mid South East Football League

the goal circle. Carly Ploenges was named in the best for the Saints a er a gutsy effort in defence and will be working hard to limit opportuni es to Stokker. Hawks coach Sonya Beare isn't afraid to blood some juniors into the Hawks line up and is also s ll trying different combina ons. Saints coach Cassie Dinnison is also s ll working on where to best place her players. Experience should get the Saints across the line but Kongorong will put up a good fight. ROBE v HATHERLEIGH Hatherleigh has come off the bye and head to the seaside to take on Robe. Hatherleigh had a good win against Nangwarry in Round 1, while the injury plagued Robe have had one loss and one win. Robe were impressive against Nangwarry last week. Kim Ross and Keryn Moore are working well together and were impressive feeding into the circle to Sarah Laurie who had a solid performance and was named Robe's best. Sammy Telfer was also named in the best for the Roosters ge ng her hands to a lot of balls. Hatherleigh’s Lara McGregor was very impressive in Round 1 and will be looking to con nue her good form. Sarah Faulkner is clever through the middle and with Lacey Haines and Keston Green possibly lining up in goals, Roosters defenders Alannah Campbell and Georgie Perkins will need to be at their best. Hatherleigh have depth which Robe are struggling with due to their growing injury list, although their replacements are all proving worthy of an A Grade posi on. Hatherleigh should take the points but expect Robe to make them work for it. It should be a fantas c day at Robe with their ANZAC Day weekend ac vi es. Port MacDonnell has the bye.

NETball club notes

Junior 1: Awesome effort in our first game, you looked like you had been playing together for years well done! Emity, Molly, Ava and Lexi worked well together in goals and had plenty of nice shots. Ashley, Ma lda and Ebony caused many turnovers in defence and had some nice passes out of defence. Next game let's start using a shoulder pass and push it out into the space. Awards: Ava, Lexi and Ebony. Junior 2: What an awesome start to the season. We have a lot of new players for their first game of netball. Great sportsmanship girls. We have a few things to work on but we will get there, it's only the beginning. Sophie Pearce received the Sal award for great shoo ng and well posi oning. Bakers Delight goes to Tekani Clark for running well in centre and Muffin Break goes to Gracie Malseed for her pocket rocket speed in WA. 13 & Under: 63-7. A reward for some really hard work you put in for those few weeks leading up to the Carnival last year and have con nued to follow instruc ons well done, let's keep working just as hard at training as there's s ll improvement to come! Awards to Alice (Paradise Pizza), Shayden (Hungry Jacks) and Lucy (Fasta Pasta). Special men on to Keira who played in her first ever netball game and did really well - and thanks to all team members for their support and encouragement. First playing and helping with 15s; Chloe and Tegan then turned their a en on to our game and both turned in great performances with Chloe domina ng centre court and Tegan combining well with different partners and shoo ng at over 80% accuracy! 15 & Under: 33-37. Considering this was our first real game (or training) together we can take lots of posi ves from it! All players kept their heads up and where determined in their efforts - to be 14 down and come back to just 4 shows great character. Our defence worked over me, Awards: Ebony (Athletes Foot), Georgia (Copenhagen) and Ash (Hungry Jacks) - who played in posi ons completely unfamiliar to her and showed how much poten al she has. Special men on to Chloe and Tegan (80% accuracy) whose presence on court certainly boosted the confidence of others and created turnovers of their own. 17 & Under: Well done girls. A solid start to the season. Great

defence, good to see what we are doing at training is being put into prac ce. All of our goalie and mid court combina ons played well despite the amount of posi onal changes. Best players: Holly (Birdie Blue), Emily (Athletes Foot) and coaches award Maddy (F45). B Reserve: 61-38. Great effort TEAM! The posi ve vibes on (and off) court can only lead an already “ ght” team ghter. From a coach's perspec ve it was pleasing to hear you all acknowledge that we s ll have some work ahead and there's plenty of improvement to come! Awards: Rhianna (Terry White Chemmart) - a tower of strength in goals, well supported by Jodi and Abbey (all shot at 70%). Bills (Beauty by Re) - on court leadership, and great feeding in to goalers (as did Imogene and Gem). Brianna's first offical game people shouldn't underes mate her! Deb and Abbey - hard working defence with flashes of “got it”. B Grade: It was so great to start the season strongly and come away with our first win. We are a fresh team with new combina ons and I'm so pleased with how the girls worked together and adjusted to a tough Port Mac team. The start was a li le bumpy but by the end of the second quarter we had found our feet. Brianna and Gina gained confidence and consistency in goals throughout and I'm excited to watch them con nue improving. The mid court were impressive in the second half par cularly making sound decisions that helped feed our shooters. Our defenders maintained their composure against strong shooters and I was so pleased with how they went. Very excited for the upcoming season. Award winners were Shanae Neale (Best Wishes) and Brianna Gale (Fasta Pasta). A Reserve: A great start to the season. It was pleasing to see everyone working as a team. Shannon, Re and Schultz were solid in defence turning over numerous balls. Ebony dominated the a ack and worked well with the other goalies. Our centre court were solid all game. Shannon (Chelsea Feast), Ebony (Athletes Foot), Re (F45). A Grade: A posi ve start to our return to netball. It was great to see a high work rate in defence which caused many turnovers and some nice passages of play in a ack. Many posi ves from our first hit out and some areas to work on at training. Best players: Abbey, Chelsea and Chloe.

The Mount Burr Netball Club is proud to have Igni on Fitness, South East Conveyors, and Kimberly-Clark Australia (KCA) as major sponsors for the 2021 season. Junior 2: First home game for the season and what perfect netball condi ons. Great teamwork girls, some great long passes into a ack. Passing down the court and using each player was great to see. S cking on your players in defence was impressive and using your outside arm. Award: Andy’s Bakery - Sophie. Junior 1: Great effort for last week’s game, we were a few players down but s ll gave 100%. We are seeing so many improvements so far - even in our second game. Very nice to see that all players are listening to feedback and trying their best to keep improving. There was some great encouragement on court, with all players using their voices and showing amazing sportsmanship towards the other team! It is also good to see the girls' confidence growing in each game! Best player went to Lexi (Andy's Bakery Voucher). Once again, thank you to Junior 2's Sophie and Emily for filling in. 13 & Under: Good job. Our defensive pressure over the court improved but we s ll need to ensure we are coming front for the ball in a ack. All players' work rate improved across the game helping us to run out 4 quarters but we need to remember our fundamentals especially under fa gue. We had some fantas c transi ons down court helping our defenders and a ackers link through the midcourt. Thanks to Sarah Nulty for umpiring, Amy Brant for scoring, and Lee Gamble for ming. Java Café award went to Kaylah Wilson. 15 & Under: Another strong game last week. The defensive pressure across the whole court allowed for many turnovers throughout the game. Makaylah, Imogen, Macy, and Abbey all stepped up, blocking their players and crea ng pressure over the ball at all mes. Midcourters Oliviah and Olivia performed well, with great leads to the ball and feeding into our goalies, Jemma, Jasmine, and Lily who shot with accuracy and precision. Great job girls, hopefully we can con nue this performance! Award went to Macy Burns (Fasta Pasta). 17 & Under: Another strong effort from the girls. It was great to have Mckenzie Bevan back out on court and her presence certainly helped to li the intensity. Pressure across the whole court was a highlight and created many turnovers in our defensive end from start to finish. The effort all girls are showing to put into prac ce what is being learned at training was fantas c and we are eager to see the result of this as the season progresses. Once again Maddie, Mae, Kelsi, and Macca were strong in defence blocking their opponents down court and rebounding well. Amelia, Jarrah, and Kenzie all worked relessly in the mid-court transi oning the ball and feeding the goalies well throughout the en re game. Charlie and Jemma led the goal circle well and combined well together but with

Amelia and Jarrah throughout the game. Their ability to use the space and hold the defenders is improving significantly with each game played. Awards went to Mackenzie Job (Java Café) and Mae Johnston (Harper and Co). B Reserve: Bad luck girls. We played against a strong Glencoe ou it. We need to ensure we are coming in front and leading towards the ball not away as this will have a big impact on our overall game play. We had some fantas c passages of play down court which with some more consistency we will build in strength but a great effort for keeping your heads. We will take away lots from this game to work on at training and will aim to build from this across the rest of the season. Thanks to Lynne Lambert for umpiring, Kelly Gamble for scoring, and Breanna's mum for ming, and thanks to Karen Hayward for scoring the B Grade. Well done Karen Hayward for receiving the Harper and Co award and Rebecca Fox for receiving the Beachport Hotel award. B Grade: It was a hard day on the netball court for our team last week. We learned we need to work hard if we are to succeed this season. Our drive out of defence was good and most of our goals were scored from turnovers. Best players were Larissa Wa s (Carapace) for her hard work all game & Bri Scanlon (Harper & Co) who had a great game for her 50 games. Congratula ons on your milestone. Mt Burr 33 to Glencoe 67. A Reserve: Another tough game for round 2 of the season. It was great to see you all being flexible with your posi ons and working hard no ma er the line-up. We had a lot of the ball but struggled to u lise it effec vely in our a ack line with many unforced errors resul ng in Glencoe crea ng a big gap on the scoreboard. This was a hard deficit to come back from and with signs of fa gue showing in the third quarter Glencoe con nued to build. Despite this, we finished the game off strong with a good all-round effort from all players out on court, losing this quarter by just 3 goals. Café Melzar award went to Heidi Eldridge and Harper and Co award to Stacey Lowndes. A Grade: Another great win on the board for round 2. A shaky start to the game with a few errors across the court led to us heading into the first break 3 goals down. The second quarter saw a strong defensive effort from Madi Hagge , Heidi Clark, and Ann Guye which led to unforced errors from Glencoe and several strong intercepts. Laura Schultz and Ella Fal ng worked relessly driving the ball down court and posi oning well on the circle to feed the goalies. Eb Clark and Sarah Nulty once again combined well and shot with accuracy leading to a 10 goal turnaround at hal ime. This pressure and consistency across the court con nued for the remainder of the game. Overall a fantas c team effort with final scores 51 to 38. The Beauty Studio award went to Ella Fal ng.

TANTANOOLA

NETball club notes Congratula ons to Sally McDonnell last week for her 50 Club Game Milestone and to Bri Scheer for the same milestone today. Also congratula ons to Abbie Cocks for 100 Senior Games today. Junior 2: Fantas c effort girls. Everyone did a fantas c effort with their footwork and leading and coming towards the ball. First best - Metalworx award went to Hallie Sealey for leading towards the ball. Second best went to Mikayla Roth for amazing effort with footwork. Junior 1: Amazing game by everyone in the team, we have quite a few shorter girls who played against some very tall girls, which is why Layla got best this week (Eddie Kuhl Tyres award). No one ever gave up and everyone kept trying their best which is great to see. Chloe was rewarded with the encouragement award. Great a acking and defending all the way down the court as well. 13 & Under: 18-31. Great game by everyone, all girls improved each quarter. Maddi Bignell played an outstanding game in defence (Dycer Construc ons Award) with great intercepts and control. We all did a great job of making sure we stayed on our side of the court and a acked the ball well. Amelie had great hand pressure and good turnovers earning the encouragement award. Well done to all girls. 15 & Under: 15-66. Great game girls, there were more drives down the court and great movement in the goal ring with Montana and Jorja Burdon. Defence worked hard to try and slow the drive down the court with plenty of fingers to the balls, but not enough for a turnover. The girls certainly have worked hard at training and it showed in the game. Best on court (Maloney Plumbing Award) went to Montana Biggins for great movement and Jorja Burdon (encouragement award) for adap ng and using the skills learnt in prac ce into the game. 17 & Under: 19-58. Bad luck girls. It was another slow start but we did get much be er as the game went on. We s ll need to work on coming forward and making op ons (as per last week's notes) however each of you really took on board the things we said to you during the game which is wonderful to see. Zoe was excellent all day stepping up in the goal circle for three quarters and earnt herself best player (DeGaris Lawyers award). Lara did some

NETball club notes amazing drives and is growing in confidence, earning herself second best (Fasta Pasta) and Zali held up her end all day with good rebounding and a few good touches (KFC). Special men on to Lilly who came on at half me and had a real cracker of a game. We've got a few away today but let’s work on star ng and finishing strong. B Reserve: 45-22. Good game girls. We got off to a slow start but managed to build a lead by the end with plenty of posi ves. Best player (Key 2 Sale Award) went to Bri for accuracy and confidence under the post for her first game and second best to Krystal for a consistent defence game. Well done. B Grade: 67-33. Another fantas c game girls. Congratula ons to Sally on 50 games. Great intensity all game and we never stopped un l the final whistle. The a ack looked seamless all game and defence worked hard at the ball and we reaped the rewards for their hard work. Thanks again to Nic for si ng bench for us. Best on was the Captain Chloe Watson sponsored by Planta on Treated Timber and second best Sally McDonnell (South Aussie Hotel). Today let’s go out there focussed and ready to play a hard four quarters. A Reserve: 59-32. Two from two well done girls, another great game by all 7 players throughout all 4 quarters. There were lots of posi ves to take out of our game including our defensive pressure in the ring and down the court. This caused lots of headaches for our opponents which resulted in lots of held balls in our favour. Feeding into the circle was good and both Taitlyn and Max are combining well. Well done Jess for the falcon and April on the throw in from out of bounds to out of bounds (haha). Lets focus this week on holding our leads and playing into the space. Best player (B&P Travel and Cruise) to Max and second to Chloe (Fasta Pasta) A Grade: 38-51. We started the game so well, we were composed and our ming was on point. But then the pressure got to us a bit and we weren't able to gain control again. Bec had a good game and created lots of pressure in defence. Let's focus on the things we work on in trainings and try and implement them on the court. O'Brien Electrical Mt Gambier Award went to Bec Edwards and encouragement to Emily Thompson.

Junior 2: Last game was a beau ful day for netball. The li le ones were keen as to get out there once I finally got them all off the playground ha! This week we had some fantas c passages of play. Their leading in front & passing to each other was fantas c. Even a er only 1 game we are star ng to learn where each posi on can go and there were a lot less offsides. We just need to work on staying on our player and not everyone elses. Our awards went to Lidia (Maccas) for con nuous running & never giving up, also to Stella (Hungry Jacks) for great leading & strong catching! Junior 1: It was a fast paced game for the J1 girls against Kongorong, players were challenged to take on unfamiliar posi ons, but were not fazed. Peyton proved strong in defence and shooter, Jaycee moved swi ly in centre and in a ack. Summer led confidently as keeper and centre, whilst Emie rebounded strongly as shooter and defender. Renae's leads and steady passes through the middle helped the flow of the game and Tameka's strong leads in a ack were fantas c. Shelbi and Lidia showed their strength in the wing. Well done on your efforts girls, I am so proud of your enthusiasm and team work. Emie Mason received the encouragement award kindly donated by Wa le Range Trading for her strong defence and willingness to always give 100%. 13 & Under: What a great game against Kongorong! We all worked as a team and moved the ball down the court easily to score some awesome goals, this was great to watch! We s ll have to work on coming forward to the ball however this will keep on improving as the season goes on. The girls chased heaps of loose balls and were ght in defence. A huge thank you to Tamika, Peyton and Jaycie who stepped up from Junior 1's, you gave it you're all! You should be very proud of yourself girls, can't wait to see you improve over the season. Fasta Pasta award went to Alexis Hoffmann for her awesome persistence in defence. 15 & Under: With the sun peeking through it was a much nicer day to be playing netball. The nerves seemed be er this week but we were s ll unse led in the first quarter. During our game there were some really good passages of play, but at mes we got stuck due to crowding. We ended up again improving as the game went on & managed to come away with our second win. Let's work on our ming of leads, space & clearing this week at training & bring it to our game next week. KFC Award: Kaitlyn Thomas. Well done Kaitlyn for showing your ini a ve during the game & always being an op on. Best players: Molly Cushion & Ebony Cytrowski. 17 & Under: A er a strong start, we dropped our heads coming into the 2nd quarter but were able to hold on to our lead. We need to remember to keep the consistency over the whole 4 quarters of netball. We are star ng to put the things that we work on at training into play which is great to see but s ll need to come in front of our players and clear out crea ng space for others to come through. We started to

chase our second efforts in the first quarter however our fitness got the be er of us. S ll plenty to work on at training but we are happy with the win. Great work girls. Keelie received the Chelsea Feast Makeup Award for her accuracy and movement in the circle and Charlo e received the Fasta Pasta award for taking on board everything we worked on at training and having strong hands in the circle. Let’s come out firing this week girls and get another win on the board. B Reserve: Fantas c win 46 to 26 with a good effort put in by all girls. Consistency will get be er as you train more together and team work is apparent already which is always nice to see. Thanks to Ella, Sal & Jodie for filling in. B Grade: Great game girls, we came out strong and finished strong. We kept up the intensity right ll the end coming home with the win. Few injuries had us change up posi ons but we all adapted well and made the most of the opportunity. Conver ng on all of our turnovers keeping our heads up and scoring our centre passes really won us the game. Our goalies worked well together crea ng space and were solid in the ring while our defenders worked relessly to turn the ball over against tough opponents. Kath Taylor (the birthday girl) played an incredible game through the centre all game and earned herself the Since Fi y Six award. A special thanks to Rozanna for coming back out for a run and thanks to Lucy and Kim for si ng bench A Reserve: This week didn't turn out as we planned! We had great passages of play throughout the game and again we were able to play a very defensive game. However, we can't afford to have periods where we lapse intensity as within a few minutes, there's 2-4 goals being scored against us and we begin having to play a catch up game. We need to con nue to play our game and con nue to aim for 4 quarters of high intensity and consistency. Although we didn't come away with the win, we certainly came away with great posi ves and areas to build on in the next coming weeks. As a team we need to get around one another and put in this week to make sure we are back on the winning list for next week! Best players went to Estella Serle and Lucy Barber! A Grade: We came away with another solid win last week. Tayla had a strong game at goal keeper and caused havoc for 60 minutes. Alex had a run in defence and played another strong game. Casey and Vic again combined well in a ack and defence. We saw Madi Kelly play her first A Grade game in WA and did a top job, she grew as the game went on and passed well into the goalies. Another solid effort by Em and Jami in goals and the combina on in a ack is looking great. It's so nice to see 4 quarters of intense netball and the girls didn't stop un l the last whistle. Keep working hard at training and the results will deliver. Well done girls. Awards went to Casey Walker (McCourts Garden Centre) and Tayla Rowe (Foodland).

NETball club notes Junior 2: What a great game against Tant girls! Claire did an amazing job in goals, having the confidence to turn and shoot. Isabelle, Alyssa and Holly moved well and were able to shoot a goal each. Great moving and ge ng in front from Isabelle, making many leads and calling for the ball. Lily defended well once again. Zayley led down the court with great voice and Holly and Zoe got loads of intercepts. Keep up the great work at training as it is showing on game day. Awards: Claire - Zambreros and Isabelle - Hungry Jack’s Junior 1: The girls played a really impressive game against Tant, using things we have learnt at trainings on the court. Our ability to come forward to the ball as well as moving the ball down the court was impressive as well. There are s ll a few things that we can improve on at training but overall a really good game from the girls. Awards went to Deborah (Bakers Delight) who impressed in both the first and last quarter ge ng some important touches. The other award went to Paige (Hungry Jack’s) who played a really strong game. 13 & Under: Awesome game girls! We all played together as a team and everyone put in 100%. We just need to slow ourselves down and watch our feet. Awards: Grace - Zambreros & Harmoni - Fasta Pasta. 15 & Under: Fantas c game girls, even though we lost by 8, you all should be proud of yourselves, a great team effort each pu ng in 100%, we just need to work on our footwork & leads. Awards: Jasmin - Bakers Delight and Evie - Fasta Pasta. 17 & Under: The girls played an absolutely great game and they u lised a lot of skills that we’d been working on at training. Our defensive pressure all over the court caused lots of forced errors and held balls. The girls showed a lot more communica on on the court and encouraged each other which was great to see. We only went down by 9 which is a huge improvement since the first game and hopefully the girls con nue to thrive through the

NETball club notes season. Best players – whole team. B Reserve: Well done girls, we worked together and make some good moves on the court. The score is nothing to worry about as we are s ll learning together. Awards: Skye - Vanity and Monique - Birdie Blue. B Grade: Bad luck girls. We came up against a quick and strong Tantanoola side and I think we tried to keep up at their pace too much rather than slow it down and play a slow and controlled game. Defence worked relessly all game against some very strong and accurate goalies but managed to get their hands on a few. Mid court worked well together to bring the ball down the court and provided strong leads. Goalies moved together well and shot/rebounded well also. We are s ll a quite new team and are learning how each other play which will only improve in the weeks to come. Best players went to Alisha Angelino - Fasta Pasta and Scout Elshaug - Vanity. A Reserve: Another win on the board a er a hard fought 4 quarters. Megan stepped up into a key posi on in goals and played a consistent game with accurate shoo ng and great moving in the circle combining well with Bri, Rach, Evie and Heidi all worked hard to get it into the goals. Alicia, Nat and Georgia ge ng the important turnovers and making it hard for the opposi on. Well done girls! Awards: Nat - Birdie Blue and Rach - Vanity. A Grade: A lot was taken away from our first game and worked on at training which showed on the court. The a ack con nued to fight for every ball making their defence work hard to earn any turnovers while the mid court ran relessly to create strong drives and had great pa ence when feeding into the circle. Defence also fought hard for every ball, making their a ackers work harder for every goal. Overall it was a great team effort and the girls kept their heads up for the whole game and con nued to back each other up. Awards: Emily - Vanity and Ella - Birdie Blue.

Last week we started off the day with our babies Junior 2 who every week con nue to improve along with the Junior 1. 13U and Ares had a close game coming off with the wins, well done girls and Bres just went down in a close one. Our other teams showed huge improvement and were very compe ve a good day for Nangwarry. We had a few more milestones last week with Cassie Dinnison and Fellicity Virgin ge ng their 250 senior games and Chrystal Lock with her 200 senior games, congrats girls all well deserved. We also held a minute silence on the footy oval with the Robe teams in memory of our life member Jenny Perry. Thank you to everyone who par cipated it was a great way to honour a pivotal member of our clubs. Thank you to some of our gold sponsors for this season in GEM and Mick Mullan Plumbing and Building. Let's con nue on this week down at Kongorong and see us get some more wins on the board. Go Saints. Junior 2: Well done my li le superstars, you all played a brilliant game, so proud of you all. You all applied great defence down the court. Lucy and Darcy combined well in the goals. James, Ruby and Ella worked so well in defence. Paige, Immy and Summer drove well down the court. Best players and the McDonald's award Paige Sealey for great drive through the mid court. Canteen Darcy McNair for great shoo ng. Junior 1: Great game girls. In 2 weeks, you all have improved so much already. We were not stepping much again, and we chased the balls well. We just must remember to lead to the ball and keep moving not stand in one spot. You all did amazing though li le superstars cannot wait to see how much be er we are next week. Best player and the Pines Hotel award - Maddie Thomson and Nangwarry Serv-wel - Keeley Clayfield. 13 & Under: Well done girls. Every player won their posi on and played amazing. Everyone gave 100% and our second efforts were outstanding. Very proud of CJ and his improvement from never playing netball before to the skills he displayed. CJ won Fasta Pasta award for his efforts, being an op on at every centre pass as well as created many turnovers. Holly had a fantas c game and got her hands to many balls also covering her player at centre passes. Holly received McDonald's award. Big thank you Elycia and Ella, hopefully we can have you play more games for us. Both players were vital to our win. Our work at training showed in our game so let's con nue to listen so will go work further to improve our game. Best players CJ and Holly. 15 & Under: A great improvement from last week's game. We did not come away with the win, but we did take a lot of ideas, strategies, and things to work on that will take our

game play to a higher level. We are s ll early in the season and I have a lot of faith in the girls. Things can only get be er, I cannot wait. Best on Emily Timms (Hungry Jack’s) and Scarle Black. B Reserve: With our other goalie Flick back, we were back into the swing of it. Unfortunately, we didn't came away with the win but things started to fall into place nicely. Davina who came away with best on court for us stepped up into centre and was brilliant up and down the court, our goalies were conver ng nicely with some long bombs into Flick and great following up from Kate with some nice shoo ng. Throughout our whole court there were some nice passages of play, a small margin at the final quarter has given us more hope for the next upcoming games. Well done everyone! Best players were Davina well done, and Kate bringing up second best. Good job girls! B Grade: Not the game we wanted to play girls and injuries did not help our cause we became very ra led as a team. It took us a while to adapt to the changes that had to be made but once we se led, we showed what we are capable of. Each player had moments in the spotlight and if we can string these together then as a team we will come away with the win. Stevie had a great game stepping into centre and crea ng voice and drive down the court. Jemma had a posi ve influence as she rebounded and intercepted. Ellie you are quite the hidden gem within the team and hopefully as your confidence grows, we will see more of that great defensive pressure and determina on you showed us once you went into WD. Best players were Jemma Glynn and she received the Fasta Pasta award and Stevie Judd. A Reserve: What a game and a win from everyone, definitely a team effort. Everyone gave 110% no ma er what, you girls wanted that game and deserved it. First quarter was brilliant, our ming and leads were pinpoint, with Tahlia and Kristy finishing off well, with some great driving from Hannah and Taysha. We took the foot off the pedal in the 2nd and 3rd in a ack, but Chrystal, Bri , Shandeen and Bel were working over me in defence to keep turning it back. We li ed again in the last to finish of with a great win. Best players Bri and Kristy (Athletes Foot). A Grade: We swapped our team around a bit again last week. We did start a li le slow but as the game went on, we improved more and more as our confidence grew in ourselves and each other. We definitely had some awesome passages of play and when we played our own game it came easy to us. We have the poten al to really push teams and if we keep on persis ng and pushing ourselves, we will get there. Great job! Best - Carly and Ange (Pines Hotel).

NETball club notes Junior 2: The girls started full of enthusiasm, eager to get their first goal for the season. Edie, Henna and Kendall worked beau fully together to get the ball into Scarle and with lots of encouragement from the rest of the team the goal was scored. WOOHOO! They all worked so well together all game with lots of great defending, which led to a few of turnovers for them to score a couple other goals. I saw so much improvement from last week's game and looking forward to the rest of the season. Incen ve (Canteen): Olivia Ashenden for working hard and defending every pass. Fantas c game girls. Junior 1: The sun was shining, and it was a perfect day for netball. We had a full excited team, 9 again so we rotated on and off each quarter. Our passes were good again and it was wonderful to see a mix of bounces and lobs through the game. We had a li le trouble throwing in from the defence back line which gives us something to work on at training. Well done again girls on a well-played game. Incen ve (The Project): Saskia Anderson Warren, who played a li le ripper in WA and is really enjoying the game. Chocolate Award: Poppy McLachlan who gave 100% in defence. 13 & Under: Robe 15 Nangwarry 28. We started the game quite steady and evenly matched. We made changes every quarter and Nangwarry seemed to really pick up in the second half which we could not match. Our efforts were quite good but we need to learn to drive hard at the ball without stopping and make good passes into space. Nangwarry were just too good for us. Best player (The Pastry Place) was Millie Fennell for her efforts to move forwards to the ball. Incen ve (Steve's Place) was Olivia Cheung for her great intercepts and touches in defence. 15 & Under: Robe 39 Nangwarry 19. An impressive work rate in a warm weather game. The match was physical, but you didn't let that bother you, instead keeping up consistent pressure and determina on, and making good choices in passing. Charlie played a hard close game in GK and WD ge ng some nice turnovers. Jenna worked relessly on her WA and improved her passing. Georgie great in goals adjusted to a tall player and Kik's confidence and moving in goals was great to see. Emily and Ella were the great combo in C and WA, Emily tough as nails and Ella dropping some beau ful passes into goals and using space perfectly. Incen ve (Robe Seafood & Takeaway): Lucy earned incen ve with her intercepts in GK and told me she is jumping next week. Best player (Salubrious Hour): And the big dog award goes to Tilly. What a ripper in GD - your 3 feet pressure was fabo all over the court girl resul ng in plenty of turnovers. We did good Roosters. 17 & Under: Robe 67 Nangwarry 11. Fantas c work girls, we pushed through and came out with the win. Although it probably felt like a flat, dull game to play we had some great passages of play and it allowed us to try some different combos/plays. Defence worked relessly to keep Nangwarry at 11 goals and a ack had to adjust their game to Nangwarry's ability in defence. You all played really well and should be proud of our efforts so far this year!

NETball club notes Incen ve (The Pastry Place): Lexy Hayes and best player (Loaves & Fishes) Maisie Hayes. B Reserve: Robe 38 Nangwarry 33. How good was that? The determina on to win was there and you made it happen. The dresses look amazing and I think that helped us over the line. We had a few swappies but I think we can all appreciate the edge if having Al in the goalie arena. Welcome to the club Anne Grayson and congrats on your first game for Robe. Today we had 3 over 50 year olds on the court - must be some sorta record. For Rhiannon it was her first win for Robe, and she deserved the incen ve (Burger & Co) for her strive to achieve in GS. A solid game by Robin again but Calcu a (The Union) went to Captain Kiri for her tenacity. She don't do things by halves... The win feels good! B Grade: Robe 61 Nangwarry 33. What a brilliant game girls! I knew we had it in us. We started strong and kept the talk posi ve on the court. We slowed down our play and waited for leads to be made and this resulted in far less turnovers. Our goalies were incredibly accurate, and we moved the ball well around the ring. We welcomed Madi from U/17 onto the court for her first senior game and she held her own very well. We are star ng to come together well as a team. Fitness is an area we can improve on to make sure we get through the 4 quarters well. So, let's all make an effort to come along to training so we can con nue to improve and grow together as a team. Calcu a (Hook & Harvest) went to Marley who was accurate in goals and rebounded well. Incen ve (The Cally) went to Tamara who ran our centre like a champ and was a solid op on on the ring for our goalies all game. A Reserve: Robe 38 Nangwarry 44. Great game girls, it was unlucky we didn't come away with the win. Four solid quarters were put in by all players on court, no one dropped their head all game and all fought ll the very end. We were beaten by a stronger Nangwarry on the day. We had four amazing juniors play their first game, a big well done and thank you to Ella, Maisie, Libby and Billie - we are very lucky to have you girls in the RNC and you all proved your abili es. Again we had a completely new and different line up, let’s keep figh ng girls and I am sure the dust will se le soon enough and hopefully we can get a win! Incen ve could have gone to anyone but Incen ve (The Project) and Calcu a (Coastal Club) went to Asha - she ran so consistently through the C, providing lots of guidance and consistency down the court. A Grade: Robe 73 Nangwarry 41. What a great 4 quarters of netball! We started off really strong with accurate shoo ng from Tori & Sarah and precise feeding from Kim & Keryn. We had a couple of newbies in defence. Sammy had a great first game for the club ge ng lots of touches. Georgia stepped up and played a strong defensive game ge ng lots of rebounds. Once again Alannah was strong all over the court and had a great captain's game leading the team to a convincing victory. Thanks to Belle & Car a for si ng bench. Calcu a (Me & Miss Jones): Sarah Laurie, Incen ve (Original Skin Co): Sammy Telfer.

Junior 2: The Hatherleigh J2 girls were greeted by a vocal crowd and some windy weather as they took the court against Nangwarry for the first game of the season. Both teams were supported by coaches and umpires as they learnt new posi ons and adjusted to the rules of the game, many of them playing netball for the first me. The Eagles were applying skills learnt at training, such as pivo ng and dodging as they worked the ball down the court. It was pleasing to see the girls leading into space and the accuracy of their goal shoo ng was impressive. The Hatherleigh girls were determined in defence, s cking ght to their players and picking up many loose balls in the centre. But what was most impressive was their teamwork, as they shared the possession around, and their encouragement towards each other! The Java Award went to Mollie O'Connor and the Ladies Commi ee Award went to Maggie Buhlmann, both first gamers for Hatherleigh. Junior 1: Wow li le Eagles what a game! Each and every one of you deserved an award. You defended well, supported each other and created space. Amazing shoo ng in the first half from Sienna and Luca. Alirah se led easily in WA with plenty of reoffering. Scarle defended well at WD causing turnovers me and me again. The second half saw Livvi Faulks working relessly through the centre, Olivia Beggs put lots of pressure on defending at GK and Olivia Hassell out of her comfort zone and working hard at GS. Well done again girls, you did the club proud. Thank you to Anne for ming and Emily for Primary Carer. Ladies Commi ee award: Sienna Clark, Maccas award: Olivia Hassell. 13 & Under: Hatherleigh 31 Nangwarry 25. How exci ng for our girls to be back playing netball! Well done to the Under 13s for being responsible in organising themselves for the warm-up, I'm sure this contributed to a strong first quarter being 5 goals up at quarter me and running out winners by 6. Full court defensive pressure was strong across the 4 quarters with some excellent chasing of loose balls. Thank you to Luca for filling in. Ladies Commi ee award: Leni Carruthers, Gino's pizza award: Kalli Ne le. 15 & Under: Hatherleigh 49 Nangwarry 19. Well great to all hit the courts for 2021! We had a very good win for our first game, all girls contributed well. From the sidelines there is plenty to build on and develop but with the girls posi ve a tude and willingness to want to learn I am super excited that all girls will achieve these goals. Indi was awarded the Ladies Commi ee award for good leadership and Ayrlie was awarded the Denton's Sportspower award for having an outstanding crack in all posi ons she played, she created many turnovers in defence. 17 & Under: Hatherleigh 90 Nangwarry 3. What a great start to the 2021 season. We were able to u lise strong posi on combina ons and passages of play that is reflected perfectly by the final score. Our defence worked relessly to create turnovers which was accurately converted into the scoreboard by our a acking end. Demi Jones and Laura Chester worked endlessly to effec vely bring the ball to our a ack, while applying hard defensive pressure when necessary. We definitely have had a good first game, and have areas for improvement throughout the season. Amazing job girls. Best players: Laura Chester (Ladies Commi ee) and Demi Jones (Ducky's Surf). B Reserve: An emo onal day to begin our 2021 season being the first game since the passing of Sue Skeer. The strength and courage Amy showed taking the court would have made Sue very proud, equally proud having Nic score our game - thank you Nic. We all knew it was going to be emo onal, no more so in the last quarter when a bu erfly flew past the girls on the court. We all knew Sue was there with us. We were lucky enough to get through the game with no rain. The wind didn't deter our goalies Indi & Michelle, going into half me the score being 41-2. Both were working together beau fully in the goal ring. Karen played out of her comfort zone in GD, a posi on she has not played, together with Fee in GK they both dominated ge ng many rebounds and intercep ng me and me again. Our mid-court ran it out hard throughout the game with Staci in C, Amy WD and Sally WA ge ng their hands to the ball

and intercep ng many passes. Staci released the ball into the goalies with accuracy and talked and directed the play throughout the game. Half me saw Billie (GS) and Hannah (WD) take the court and both girls gave their all, even though we had a great win 84-10 to Nangwarry's credit they never gave up and made our girls work all game. Thank you to Kerry Smith for your help, advice and guidance – I really do appreciate it. Awards: Caltex Indi, Somerset - Michelle, Sportspower - Staci, HSRC - Amy. B Grade: Winter felt like it was already upon us on Saturday but that didn't deter us from reminiscing our beau ful memories we have to share of our beloved Kylie and Suzy Q. We started our game a li le slow and took us a few minutes to se le but we finally found some rhythm. Ellie and Maddie combined well for the first half in goals, while Nat carved up the mid court and took some great intercepts. Ella at the other end of the court at WD played a ght game and got some mely intercepts. Meg posi oned and feed our goalies well, Leila and Georgia had a tussle on their hands with a strong opposi on GS but managed to keep them down to 8 one quarter and 10 in the second. Half me we made some changes with Leila swapping to the goals end to play with Maddie. The combina on didn't start well but to their credit they kept at it and eventually the rota on and speed in the circle came. Ella went back into the circle with Georgia and kept the opposi on from scoring with less goals than the first half. Lacey took the WA spot and Nic the WD spot and both had an impact on the game. The last quarter with some rain se ling in, we made some errors but very happy with the girls first game considering it's nearly a whole new team. Well done girls. A week of not playing so keep up the fitness and looking forward to our challenge against Robe in a few weeks me. Thanks for Raels for scoring, Sara for ming and Linda for primary carer and her support. Awards: Somerset - Georgia Gray, Ginos - Ella Major, Beachport Hotel - Nat Chambers. A Reserve: The excitement and nerves of the young Hatherleigh A Reserve team was evident as they faced up against Nangwarry. Nangwarry got off to a good start with early goals before Hatherleigh began to se le and drive confidently into a ack. Eliza Mewe asserted her control in the goal ring, working the ball close to the post in the windy condi ons. By half me Hatherleigh lead 20-9, a er pu ng in a strong defensive effort right down the court. The second half saw a new shoo ng line-up of Abbie and Paris, who by the 4th quarter were finding space in the goal ring and were being fed confidently by their centre courters. The sister team of Demi and Marnie finished the game dominantly in defence, with strong intercep ng and rebounding. Hatherleigh went away with a 3617 win, awards going to Isabel Redemski and Marnie Smith. A Grade: Hatherleigh 70 Nangwarry 19. With a long-awaited year off season, 2021 is finally here. I would like to welcome back all past, current and new players. Amongst the hype of the first game back we took a moment to stop, reflect and pay our respects to many of the special people that we have lost over the past 12 months. This season sees our side with two new faces in Tegan Merre and Sarah Broadhead, congratula ons on your first game for the Eagles. We had a great start to the game with our defence working hard and turning over plenty of ball which allowed us to capitalise quickly and take a strong 20 goal lead into the first quarter. It was great that we had the opportunity to rotate the bench and try some new defence combina ons, lucky for us every combina on seemed to work well. Sarah Faulks ran well through the middle all day, providing plenty of drive and defensive pressure. Our goal circle combina on of Kes and Lacey is star ng to form well, you girls created good space which made it easy for Sarah and Tegan to feed. We con nued to push and build on our lead during the game and we finished well with a 51 goal win, so credit to the girls. We move on and focus on our next game to do the same. Best players were Lara receiving the Somerset voucher and Sarah Faulks taking home the Ginos award. Other awards were Lacey ge ng the Java Café award and Tegan with a HSRC award.

ROUND 2 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW PORT MACDONNELL v KALANGADOO Tough game today for Port MacDonnell going down to Kalangadoo 55 to 32. Kalangadoo having had a strong start with a score of 19 to 7 made it hard for Port Mac to play catch up. Morgan Amy worked hard all day for the bay ge ng plenty of touches as did Michelle Moore having a tough job against Jayde Peacock. Abby Duncan was unstoppable with her accurate shoo ng while Chelsea Croser held strong in defence. There was a tough ba le in the goal circle for Brooke Williams and Kirby Carrison with Kalangadoo’s defence ght the whole game. Although the final score did not show Port Mac’s strongest quarter was the last with Keyarnah Smith coming on as GS proving to be a strong, solid shooter. Kalangadoo showing once again to be very strong compe on for the 2021 season. MOUNT BURR v GLENCOE A hard fought contest between two closely matched teams and arguably this was the match of the round. Glencoe started strong hi ng the scoreboard with accurate shoo ng from Malinda Markiewicz and Caitlin Hentschke. Glencoe's pressure down court caused numerous unforced errors by Mount Burr with the scoreline at the first break being 14 to 11, Glencoe’s way. The changed Glencoe mid court with Ash Edwards out with a calf injury struggled to find form come the second quarter. This was further exploited by Mount Burr’s Laura Schultz, Ann Guye and Ella Fal ng when Donna Jaeschke went off with blood leaving the WA posi on unmanned for 2 centre passes. Strong rebounding from Heidi Clark and Madi Hagge under the post and some mely intercept from Ann Guye and Laura Schultz caused a 10 goal turn around in the second quarter, with scores being 26 to 19. Mount Burr con nued to build upon this in the third through accurate shoo ng from Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty despite strong defensive efforts from Sarah Edwards, Emily Thompson,

and Rebecca Edwards. Glencoe's quick transi ons down court and accurate feeds from Donna Jaeschke and Laura Edwards into Caitlin Hentschke at the post was difficult for Mount Burr to stop with both teams scoring 13 for this quarter. Ebony Clark stood strong in the final quarter, taking ownership over the goal circle while Madi Hagge and Heidi Clark kept Glencoe’s Malinda Markiewicz to just 1 goal. Overall a very defensive game that could have gone either way at the final whistle but Mount Burr were able to hold strong coming away with the victory, 51 to 38. NANGWARRY v ROBE 1st - Nangwarry made a few changes from last week and they started off slow with Robe pouncing on the opportunity. GA Tori Gloyas moving and shoo ng well in the circle making Carly Ploenges work hard to stop her. Down the other end, new goalie combina ons in Cassie Dinnison and Angela Pra were working over me to try and find space from the pressure and work rate of Alana Campbell and Georgia Perkins. Nangwarry 8 Robe 17. 2nd - Nangwarry made a change swapping Hayley Burner and Kylie Heaver but this didn't stop Robe’s drive. They con nued their high work rate, Nangwarry did score their limited opportuni es but passing and poor decisions let them down. Campbell, Perkins and Sammy Telfer con nued to put big pressure on making Nangwarry make some silly mistakes. Robe’s Sara Laurie started to make her presence known posi oning well for her feeders. Nang 16 Robe 36. 3rd - Nangwarry swapped Burner and Heaver back and goalies Dinnison and Pra . This seemed to be what Nangwarry needed with Pra and Dinnison star ng to find spaces to lead with Burner working hard and feeding her goalers well. Hayley Vanderhorst was having to work over me on Laurie who con nued to posi on well and with some pinpoint feeding from Kim Ross and Keryn Moore. Ploenges started to work hard and got hands to many balls. Telfer was making Heaver work for every ball ge ng some good hands to balls. Nang 29 Robe 53. 4th - Coming into the fourth it started goal for

www.kingstonestatewines.com

goal, but forced passing down court saw Nangwarry turnover some passes. Heaver and Burner were pa ent in feeding Dinnison who finished off well. Robe con nued to be strong in a ack with some good shoo ng, Ebony Lawson was pu ng on good pressure to help her defenders, which resulted in Ploenges ge ng a few intercepts. Laurie was the focal point though and con nued to make Vanderhorst earn any balls. Down the other end Robe’s defence worked over me trying to stop Nangwarry’s goalies who were ge ng be er and more confident as the game went on. A much be er quarter for Nangwarry but Robe just too strong on the day. Final score Nangwarry 41 Robe 73. Nangwarry’s best Carly Ploenges and Angela Pra . Robe’s best Sarah Laurie and Sammy Telfer. TANTANOOLA v KONGORONG 1st quarter - Tantanoola started the match with the first centre pass resul ng in a goal. Both sides turned the ball over early in the first quarter but with steadying play by Tant’s Vic Lucas (C) and Casey Walker (WA) they were able to pull away leading the first quarter 20-7. 2nd quarter - Tant came into the second quarter with a few changes with Maddi Kelly stepping on court for her first A Grade match. Kongorong defenders Ella McIntyre (GD) and Emily Lightbody (GK) worked hard in the circle to stop Tant’s drive into the ring but Emma Gould (GS) proved too strong and Tant led heading into the half way break 36-10. 3rd quarter - This me it was Kongorong to make changes with nearly the whole court swapping around. Kongorong’s Emmalee Stokker stood up at GS as their focal point and took some strong grabs with some smart feeding from Sam Fox (WA). Down the other end Tant’s Jami Walker (GA) and Gould shot 18 from 20 a empts for the quarter not allowing Kongorong to close the gap. Score heading into the break 54-21. 4th quarter - Tant youngster Tayla Rowe worked hard at GK causing countless turnovers. Rowe’s reach proved a headache for Kongorong’s mid court Sarah Beare (C) and Fox making them work over me feeding into the ring. The home side took the points 64-28.
