A Grade: The season has arrived for the Eagles who came up against a top er Glencoe ouit in Round 2. Hatherleigh put a new look Senior side along with some old faces returning from long term injuries onto the park on Saturday but it wasn't a match for some of Glencoe's class. Ma Fabris and Jack Sullivan were back and senior colts Eli Kneen and Zak Bowering made their start to senior football. New players to the club Jack Webster and Tom Hutchesson suited up for a new look Eagles team that is missing some quality leaders from the side. Saturday's 21 were never going to use the 'outs' as an excuse and it was Glencoe's classy ball users that put Hatherleigh's defenders quickly under pressure and kept the heat on all day. The Eagles' 21 baled for the full 100 minutes but were a long way short. Ma Fabris, Sam Telfer and Will Chay were some of the noted players who won their posions. The Eagles will embrace the 7 days to have another go and look to get another successful season underway

B Grade: What a nice day to kick off the year down at Glencoe, very very undermanned with about 8 out due to a wedding. We had a couple of senior colts step and played an excellent role. We started off slow but got the game flowing and playing our brand of football to bust the game open. Reidy started the season well to be named best on. Rural named second with a bag of goals up forward. Young Bowie was named 3rd with a consistent game out of the middle. Riley Shanks played one of the beer games of footy I've seen him play and was fourth. Chooka Lang was a wall down back to round out the best. Big test this week coming up against Kongorong who have started the season well.

Senior Colts: Our round one started in round two as we headed down to Glencoe to take on the Murphy's. The me had finally come for the boys to show what they had trained hard. The weather provided for us as the sun was out and the boys were ready early and keen. The first

quarter begun and some outstanding footy was played. It all started in the ruck with Zak Bowering pushing the ball out to Ollie Fitzgerald and Tyson Atkinson. The goals started flowing as Ollie and Tyson kicked a quick 4 goals for the first quarter. During the second quarter we played the same style footy and provided another 3 goals, including Fletcher Leopold's boundary kick. The third quarter we slacked off a lile bit only kicking the one goal but aer three quarter me the boys went back out revved up and kicked a few in the last to win the game by 9 goals. Sll a lot to work on but a brilliant start by the boys. Our best players were Tyson Atkinson, kicking four goals and having plenty of the ball. Ollie Fitzgerald provided both on the ground and in the air whilst snagging a few goals. First year senior colt Ethan Marshall played very well, using his hand balls to work it out of traffic. Ausn Nele was played in a bit of a different posion in the half back line and gave us heaps of run and carry. Zak Bowering was outstanding in the ruck and tackled hard all around the ground. We look forward to our first home game next week to take on the Hawks and keep the winning streak going.

Junior Colts: We had a tough game to start the season against a stronger Glencoe side. Our forward line only saw four looks at goalwith Eli Sims kicking our only goal. This meant our backline was under pressure across the 4 quarters, despite the score I was impressed with their efforts. Overall I thought we tackled really well, we just struggled to get that handball/kick link up to gain metres forward. The best players were Riley Haines, Ned Fitzgerald, Billy Bowering, Paddy Fitzgerald and Thomas Atkinson. Under 11: It was great morning for our first game. All the kids played a great game. We had been working on shepherding and voice and it was good to see them giving it a go. Some players who played well today were Mason, Joel Skeer, Joel Chambers, and Hazel. Well done on a great game!

We welcomed sunshine and a massive crowd to the home of the Hawks last week, and while the sunshine didn't stay all day, the crowd certainly did, which is always the way when we host Port MacDonnell. As has been tradion for many years now, the Bruce Lightbody Memorial Shield was on the line, this year the honors going to Port Mac with the win, Tim Sullivan presented with the shield by Ken and Emily Lightbody

Another tradion is our Anzac Day Medal, chosen by the umpires and awarded to the player who best represents the aributes of the Anzacs. This year family members Dougie McPhail and 'Bomber' Rogers presented the Private John Rogers Medal to Ma Cordy from Kongorong. We thank RSL personnel Bob Sandow, Loy Anderson and Dieter Merchel for their aendance on the day, along with Tim Frost, bugler from the Salvaon Army, and Mel Whiy for performing the Naonal Anthem.

Minis: The minis came up against a much stronger and bigger Port Mac team. They all held their head high and sll played with determinaon and courage. Thank you to the parents who assisted with umpiring dues. Awards: Intersport - Toby Telford, Presidents Award - Bill Ellis, Rob & Amy Whiy Award - Iziah Hunt, Coaches Award - Jordan Collins, Club AwardHuey Harding, Donut King - Brody Stevens, Determinaon Award - Coby Brant.

Junior Colts: This week the boys had a tough loss, but a lesson to learn against the Bay, they got a bit of a reality check that it wouldn't always be so easy to get a win. A good lesson learned with best players being 6th Angus Maidment - Coaches Award playing a role in the back lines and geng the ball forward. Fih best Paradise PizzaKoby Galloway. Fourth Janeway Plumbing - Axel Page doing a great job forward and in the middle. Third Spoton Fishing - Declan Richardson. Second, Jacko Bald - Aussie Disposals Award doing a ripping job down back and then going forward as a target. First for Lucas Family Award - Ryan Lucas who's having a cracking start to the season.

Senior Colts: Missing a few fellas out of the side, we struggled to get the scores on the board. Welcome to the club Jack Ausn, who also took out the best player award. Followed closely by Toby McKinnon, always a solid contributor, Ryan Lucas another great performance,

up from Junior Colts, Tyler Richardson, Ryan Taylor and Bam Kent rounding out the best players.

Reserves: A really good performance against quality opponents. The game was tough and hard and sll in the balance at three quarter me. The boys dug deep in the last, and kicked away to secure the only win for the day. Always a nice way to start the year, with a couple wins on the board first up, but lots of work to be done. Best were Andrew Telford – Killara Food Centre Award, Harry Maddern –Collins Court Butcher Award, Dan Hann – Commercial Hotel Award, Wayne Awill – Club Tea Award and Bohdi Pannenburg – Club Tea Award. Aaron Shepherd was awarded 'The Mug', and made good use of it throughout the night.

Seniors: The boys started slow, which was chalk and cheese, compared to last week's first quarter. Unfortunately, in the second quarter when it was our turn with the wind, it dropped off and started raining, which turned it into a scrap with the Bay maintaining that lead for the rest of the game.

Promising signs that the boys never gave up and was just unfortunate we gave them the head start that we did. Plenty to build on. Ryan Vickery took home the Commercial Hotel Award and 'The Mug' being named first best. Luke McIntyre connued his comeback to A Grade football with a solid performance to get the Collins Court Butcher Award, and the ever-reliable Corben O'Dea coming in third best with the Killara Food Centre Award. Je Aard had another consistent game with a Club Meal Voucher, as did May Roberts, and in his first A Grade game for a while Joel Maconachie showed some spirit and received the Pick Ave Award.

Reminder to players that the woodchop is on Sunday, get here between 8:30-9am. We will have loads of wood available from 11am –12:30pm for anyone wanng to come pick up a load of bluegum (redgum loads also available).

Mini Colts: Pt Mac came away with another nice win. Best players sponsored by Wendy's Lincoln Jones, Levi Hulse, Taj Vandepeer, Brock Lewis. Goal Kickers Brock Lewis, Lenni O'DIne, Mitch Lewis, Jagger Macdonald, Max Pitson.

Junior Colts: A great win by the team against archrivals Kongorong, geng out to a good lead early then holding on and fighng hard when they were challenged in the last quarter. Harry Carroll was a standout with his work rate right across the ground, but especially standing up in the last across the half back line when Kongorong were coming strong. Kane Gilbert has a really strong first half before an injury in the second half slowed him up a lile but kept influencing the game down forward. Zane Lewis connued to work hard from start to finish, moving the ball forward through the midfield and tackling extremely well. Harry Kennion rucked well against some big opposion and made some very important contests late in the game when needed. Brody Pra kept geng his hands on the ball at centre half forward and was leading well, finishing off with a couple of goals, while Charlie Carroll played across half back and through the midfield and well and truly played above his size to win some big contests. Goal kickers - Brody Pra 3, Cody Vandepeer 1

Senior Colts: Aer a good win last week, the boys knew that they had to bring pressure and intensity early against a solid Kongorong side. Another good start seen us grab a 3 goal lead at quarter me, which with some more accurate goal kicking could have been more. The second quarter was a hard contest, with a few heated moments finishing at half me sll with a 3-goal lead. To the boy's credit, in the 3rd quarter the team really lied and put through 5 goals to take a 53-point lead into the last quarter. 1 goal apiece in the last seen our boys get a 55-point win. As a group we are taking it week by week, game by game, and it is great to see the boys improving. When we bring our game, focus on what we are doing and block out other distracons we are capable of playing some high quality footy. Best players on the day which were hard to pick once again were Casey Wilson, Riley Morgan, Kai Gilmore, Jacob Spehr, Jack Kain, Luke Richards. Kai Gilmore and Riley Morgan topped the goal kickers with 4 and 3 goals respecvely

B Grade: Ah! Saturday again... with last week’s win over Glencoe the boys were feeling prey good about life. The weather, a bit cloudy, sunshine mostly and a bit of heat… typical autumn, the oval in good condion and hardly any wind. Perfect... then bang… a bubble burst! We may have been Top Guns last week but we were brought back to earth, our wings clipped! A definite reality check and the fickleness of the B Grade machine came to life with the atude of the game won before it was played. In all fairness, the game was a reasonably low scoring affair and that was in part due to our endeavour

on the ball and an even match up of body size, strength and pace all over the ground… even the age groups! Baz O’Dine once again steadied the helm having a hand in nearly every play of the day. Up forward, in the centre and in the back line, his strong possession of the ball and dominang play in the packs earned him a B.O G. and could see him geng a nod from the A’s if we are not careful. Same could be said of Jack Cawthorne, who connues to impress with his quick cat like reflexes in and around the packs, and Ryan Von Stanke who contested everything within his reach. Their ability to run all game (and I mean really run ... hint, hint …. fitness, training!) could be one of our best weapons yet. Cue the soapbox dream sequence …. Imagine this … if we had a team, not just one or two individuals, who could contest a full four quarters (fitness) and with the ball skills to match (training). The thing is we already do, but without regular aendance our fitness and skills do not improve and it’s blatantly on show with our overturn rate and lack of execuon. End of soapbox, splash of cold water… back to reality. Nathan Tilley and Ethan Perryman-Cary pushed hard across the centre half back line, not only earning themselves a berth in the best players but provided plenty of opportunies for our young colts to shine. Bradley Neale, Archie New and Deegan Habner are proving to be very handy addions to the playlist, showing a depth to our developing young talent as they worked their way around the packs crumbing the ball and creang run on the flanks. Scores were hard to come by as the contest to the ball in the centre half forward lines was intense and we lacked a clear and present focal point. We had opportunies but are sll only hing the goals with a 50% accuracy. Of the four goals kicked, the only mulple goal scorer was Mason Brown with two, while Ma “Mortal” Stark and Blair Cung booted one apiece. The Sheet of Shame only received a light rub this week aer the massage it got against Glencoe but it also spoke of the tenacity of the Kongorong defence. As this was our Anzac round let’s take a leaf from their book and hope the ideals that have held together the legend of mateship, fairness and fighng courage in the face of overwhelming odds stay with us all year and we can proudly hold our heads up and say “We play for the Bay”. Wear your colours with pride and let’s see if we can have a home town turnaround and pluck a few tail feathers against the Robe Roosters.

A Grade: Another good game under our belt and it was a good turn out to pay our respects to the Anzacs and in honour of Bruce Lightbody and John Rogers. Mark Smith was our best on with a solid four quarter effort. Our big men all had a great game including Will, Tim and Adam. Colby Munro was also creave through the middle. Looking forward to playing Robe this weekend as I expect it to be quite a compeve match.

Junior Colts: A great effort by our young Roosters! This was a pleasing team performance; four quarters of good, solid, focussed footy, resulng in a convincing win. The boys did their best to sck to the style of play that we have been praccing. This is a work in progress and we will connue to work on it. Every player did themselves, their family and our club proud. Probably the best aspect is that the lads shared the ball around, delivering it in the best possible way at the first opportunity. This resulted in a long list of goal scorers. The Kalangadoo team applied pressure for the whole game, they never gave up and made our blokes earn every possession. We were able to withstand the pressure; this is a good sign. This week, we come up against an undefeated Demons side. It will be a real test. Hopefully we remain focussed, sck to what we do best and come away with a win. AwardsUnion Café' Incenve: Byron Carter; Denton's Sportspower: Flynn Collins; Robe Seafood and Takeaway 'Nugget' Award: Conrad Beae. Congratulaons boys and well done to the whole team.

A Grade: Perfect football condions prevailed at Robe on Saturday and a large crowd was in aendance bolstered by the reunion of the successful football and netball teams of 2003 and the fact that the town was full of tourists for the long week end some of who were looking for entertainment. The A grade

match did not disappoint with both sides playing hard contested football underpinned by quick movement up and down the oval. Robe’s pressure on the ball carrier eventually wore down the Kalangadoo players, causing skill errors, poor decision making and occasional lack of discipline. Robe was well served by Lawrie and Woodward at the centre bounces and at stoppages who connually pushed the ball into the forward line giving Hawker and Smith opportunies to score. When Kalangadoo did go forward it was usually under pressure, allowing the Robe defence to repel these aacks. The defence lead by Deane and Dinning made sure that Kalangadoo struggled to find a consistent winner forward of centre. Coach Brown has Robe playing an excing brand of football which should serve the team well as the season progresses.

Junior Colts: With a solid week on the training track for the young Maggies we are really starng to see the hard work pay off. Against a much larger Roosters ouit our young up and commers baled hard for the 4 quarters and at mes showing slick ball movement around the ground and managed to get a couple of goals on the board. Macca had a tough job with the best players as a real even performance across the ground but Joe Box who rucked the 4 quarters and provided a real target around the ground. Not far behind Lachlan McCann who found plenty of the ball and his contested ball and pressure was there for the 4 quarters. Elodie Burr & Natalia Edwards provided a target up forward with Natalia registering one through the big scks and Preston Lydeamore & Jack Dowdell-Sajevec baled hard all over the ground throughout the game to round out the best players. Keep working hard on the track, developing your cra and the results will come young maggies.

Senior Colts: With a few ruled out at the last minute due to illness found our colts side a lile shorter on numbers than usual but thanks to Calais who come for a run under DA and to the Robe boys who played across to make a game of it. The boys were excited to have Tommy back at the helm this week and show what they are capable of but were up against a very strong and well drilled Robe midfield who jumped out of the box but to the credit of the lads connually to bale for the 4 quarters with Tommy pleading with the lads to take the game on in the last managed to open the game up with some run and carry to hit the scoreboard almost outscoring Robe in the last quarter to get something out of the game. Cooper McCann led the best players with quality possession around the ground and managing to get 3 goals. Joe Box who played on bigger opponents throughout the game baled hard down back and look to rebound for the 4 quarters and found plenty of the ball. Brycie Von StankeDowie was again in the best played 90% in the midfield and his hard nose in and underwork while doing a lot of the small things to bring teammates into the game. In his 1st ever game of AFL Blunay Say took a lile while to work out the game but aer Tommy switched him onto the dangerous Robe CHF Blunay held him goalless for the remainder of the game and received a menon in the best. Nate Von Stanke-Dowie rounded out the best having a tough game chasing around a

B Grade: An awesome win by the B Grade lads on Saturday against a very good Robe side. Every member of the team was able to play their part in the game plan and it worked well enough to get us over the line by a few points. The more experienced players of Liam Hay, Nick Jenkins, Nathan Reeves & Tyler Jones were outstanding and played nearly the whole game on the ball without rotaons due to a few injuries during the course of the game. Adam Blom was outstanding across half back and took a number of contested intercept marks which in the end was the difference between us winning the game. It was a typical B Grade game with players trying to find boots, shorts and socks before the game started, however to come away with the win was just an amazing effort. Special menon also to a couple of new players in Noah Cung and Kane Shepherd who performed really well on the day Hopefully with players starng to come back we can start to sele the side and have another really good game against Mount Burr

A Grade: With a couple in from last week but a couple out at the same me it gives the opportunity for players to be tried in different posions and a chance at senior footy. The Roosters were quick out of the blocks, but we found ourselves with plenty of the ball early but couldn’t quite register a major to get the scoreboard cking over but with the backline standing firm managed to hold them to only 2 goals at the end of the 1st. The game remained ght in the second with both defences standing firm but sll down at the half but plenty of the ball around the ground but finishing off was proving a challenge. The third quarter was an even affair with both sides remaining resolute in defence and only leng a couple of goals through each to be well within the mix at 3 qtr me. Lynsey’s pushed for a real concerted effort in the last but we just couldn’t quite match them. The backline were among the beer players and once again well led by captain in Mitch Lowe. Dylan Barlow threw himself at everything and worked reless throughout the game. Ma Fatchen played in a multude of posions around the ground and is rarely beaten. Jaggs Pra at full back had to do a mountain of work over the 4 quarters and connually looks to take the play on and impact the contests. Jusn & Dylan Bromley round out the best players providing strong focal points around the ground, working up and down the ground and always looking to bring others into the game with contesng hard. Big week on the track this week as we look to welcome the Burr to Magpie park in what is set to be another cracker of a game.

Junior Colts: Another performance I’m proud of from these young guys. All I asked is that they went out there and played with heart and they certainly did, especially the younger and newer players in the team. Levi was a standout in centre again score 3 goals and seeing plenty of the ball. Both Becky and Stella Davis had a brilliant debut both spending me on the ball. Plenty of upsides to take into round 3.

Senior Colts: What a great day last weekend for our club playing our first night game with huge crowds all day. Our boys came up against a very strong and talented Tant side and never gave up all day going down by a couple of goals. One of the best games I've seen by junior sides and endless talent on both teams. A great team effort by our lads. Another big challenge this week.

B Grade: It was an usually late twilight start to our home game against Tantanoola on Saturday We started the game in great form winning the contested footy and geng lots of shots on goal. Unfortunately when you don’t convert your opportunies, you keep the other side in the game and to Tant’s credit they fought back well in the second quarter The second half was a tough encounter in the rain but we managed to hang on to record our first victory of the year. Best players were Brock Sandow who dominated all day, Je Bowering, Jesse Robbins, Jacob Gregory, Ed Ballantyne, Harvey Muhovics & Kody Bowering. Thanks to all those people that helped out on the day.

A Grade: First night game under lights at Mt Burr couldn’t have gone any beer. Great to have so much excitement and interest

Congratulaons to young Jackson Dean who made his A Grade debut and did everything that was asked of him. Always competes well and stands strong, had no issue with playing a big role for us down back. Spectators were treated to a great physical bale between both teams. Really proud of how our boys answered aer half me and were able to put their head and bodies over ball when they needed to. Great to come away with a hard fought win and have our younger guys stand up under pressure. Best players were D Ridley who really pushed the aack all day and was able to finish in front of goals when required. Hard to stop even in the wet. Knife who helped rebound and repel each forward entry for Tant and worked again and again all night. Jackson Dean who played a key role down back and competed each me the ball went near him. Got beer and more seled as the night went on, has a bright future. Wil Bowering who runs hard and uses the ball well. Has really impressed with his compeve work. Horse Guye who pushes up the ground well, moves with his player and rarely has a mark taken on him. Can play big or small. Brodie Hennink used his link up game to connuously send us forward. Really smart with the ball in hand and stood tall in the 2nd half. Goal kickers were D. Ridley 3, J. Gregory 2, A Ridley 2, K. Bevan 1, J. Muhovics 1, J. Wallis 1. Reserves: Round 2 had us under lights at Mount Burr with perfect condions for football. Mt Burr got away early With an absolute bale all game, those early goals ulmately where our downfall only losing by 2 goals. Sll looking to gel with so many new faces, I'm sll very confident in the rest of the season. Best players went to May Nelson, Brodie Snook, Darcy Hogan, Marky Bell and Zane Walker. Under 11: Aer the great start to the season the kids were eager to get back out there, having to change the me to 1:15 they were ready to go by 12:30!! Great team work and communicaon had them moving the ball well. Best players were Billy Brown - Fasta Pasta, Maxx Bevan - Wendy's and Abbi Brown - McDonalds

Junior Colts: Round 2 saw us come up against Mt Burr and our young gers came away with a great first win of the season. We took the game on, with plenty of run and carry and were rewarded on the scoreboard, which was helped along by a couple of our under 11 boys kicking a couple, well done Jack, Maxx and Jackson. Best players were: Kaden Bell, who ran all day and kicked 4 out of the midfield (Fasta Pasta award), Grace Altschwager who played an incredible first gameand is a tackling machine! (Dentons), Jakey Bevan with 5 snags (Wendys), Jedd Hardingham who was everywhere on the field all game (Maccas). Well done also to Zak Linell who was solid down back and Summer who rucked hard. Thanks to our lads who played a few quarters with Mount Burr, great sportsmanship.

Senior Colts: Last weekend saw us come up against a very strong Mt Burr ouit. Aer a slowish start we found our groove and started playing some really good team footy, which resulted in constant scoring opportunies. Aer half me it was goal for goal, with Mt Burr never going away and fortunately

Seniors: Last week we went to Mt Burr to play a night game also celebrang Ladies Day who were raising money for ovarian cancer. A great cause and from all reports the girls had a amazing night. It was great to see Tant involved in another great community event. The first me a lot of our young playing group got the opportunity to play under lights, with a very good crowd we were really excited to show how far we have come this pre-season. First quarter saw most of the football in our 50 but unfortunately couldn't make the most of it as Mt Burr made sure they scored when it went their way. We baled hard in the wet condions as our midfield got on top and got the score back to within a goal at half me. It was goal for goal for the rest of the match. Credit to our guys who never gave up and have really come a long way as a team, working hard on our game plan and our 2023 goals. A couple decisions didn't go our way and a few skill errors cost us in the last 10 minutes but overall a great performance from the team and something the boys should be really proud of. Best players: Marc RobertsMillicent Golf Club award, Troy HaAlternate Life award, Liam EnglishDucky's Surf award, Darcy Pink, Cam Saint and Jordy Ha. Super effort boys considering last year we lost to a similar Mt Burr team by 130 points so great work to only go down by 7 points. Great work lads, let's keep it up!

football club notes

Would just like to put out a massive thanks to all who were involved in pung together our first round game for season 2023 featuring Dane Swan. Whilst we didn't get the win and points for the game overall it was a massive win for the club. The exposure and vibe around the day was incredible. To all those who were involved in geng the day sorted thank you for your efforts. To the great sponsors who jumped on board thank you very much your support was greatly appreciated. To all the volunteers who put their hands up and gave us a hand an extra special thanks to those who volunteered and are not even associated with the club cheers for your help.

All round it was a great day apart from a bit of weather and hopefully everyone enjoyed the experience and atmosphere.

Once again thanks for the support and jump on board for season 2023.

restricng them to only 6 goals In 3 qtrs. They should be very proud of their efforts for the game. Best players: Skipper Archer Virtanen, Toby Zerk and Harry Hicks who we thank for helping us out this week, hopefully you guys sck around. Dylan Raedel in his first game for the club, Benne Moy and Calais Bormann. A bye this week than we move on to Tant.

Nangwarry featuring Dane Swan, we'd like to individually thank our several Major Sponsors for supporng what will be a fantasc event! Custom Kit Kitchens, Merre Logging, Mick Mullen Plumbing and Building, LV Dohnt and Co, Peter Cavanagh Homes, Deland Engineering, SE Spraying, South East Conveyors, Collins Court Butcher, Jens, Southern Auto Body, The Sign Depot. Feature events like this don't just happen and clubs would not survive without sponsorship, so we thank you very much.

Junior Colts: Pleasing start to our 2023 campaign with an 83 point win at home! The boy's skills were clean considering the showers of rain we had in the morning and our ball movement around the ground was great to watch.

Senior Colts: Well the first game of the year has already come and gone and what a fantasc day it was for our club. The under 17s boys started off a lile slow with Mt Burr pung 6 goals on in the first term geng them off to a flying start. I was feeling it was going to be a long day but to the boys credit they didn't back down to a big bodied burr team fighng back really hard In 2nd qtr. to come out on top and out score them in that qtr The Burr pushed really hard at our young small boys all day but again our lads fought all the way to the end

B Grade: Well what a way to start the season off with a draw Congratulaons to the new and old players coming back to the club. The back line had their work cut out for them with Mt Burr having some big people but to their credit they did a magnificent job. The forward line had their chances but with the ground and ball slippery made it hard. Congratulaons to Noah on playing first game and kicking a VERY important goal. Best: M. Thomson, Tye, Sco, Hoody, Stewy, Noah. See you all on the track next week as we build up for Tant. Cheers Butch

A Grade: Aer much ancipaon for round 1 it was nice to turn up to the ground for the start of the season. The first half was a prey even contest however Mount Burr were more efficient converng more opportunies in what was a prey even inside 50 count having 5 more majors on the board than us at the main break. Aer the break a well organised and experienced Mt Burr ran harder and got the beer of 50/50 contests than our side which had many new faces playing together for the first me. We will be much beer for the run. Congratulaons to Reece and his team on geng the win. Best players: Jack Pudney, Adam Todd, Tyler Virgo, Johnno Mills, Jake Biggs and Brody Parsons.

We were fortunate to have ex-AFL star Dane Swan join our playing list for the day. He had great input to the day. We would like to give a big thank you shout out to the hard working volunteers behind the scenes and on the day for making this such a well organised event. Also a big thank you to all the supporters for coming through gate and supporng our event. To the footballers and netballers celebrang your 30 year reunion, we hope you had a great day celebrang your 1993 premiership. Looking forward to seeing you all at Tantanoola.

The Hawks head to Hatherleigh this weekend, with both teams baling to get their first win on the board. Hatherleigh defenders Lara MacGregor and Elly Redden will work hard in the defensive circle, pung the pressure on for Kongorong's goalies. Hawks Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody fight relessly for their team and will snatch up any loose balls or missed shots from Hatherleigh's aack line. Tegan Telfer and Rach Perry will both fight hard for their respecve teams and will need to feed accurately into their gaol circles. Eagles goalies Demi Vanderhorst and Maddie Pulmer move well together in the circle and need to fight hard to score from any turnovers created by their teammates. Both teams will fight hard to take the points home with them

PORT MACDONNELL v ROBE

Port MacDonnell and Robe face off down at the Bay on Saturday. Demons Alana Berkefeld and Alysha Coon work well together in the defensive circle and have the ability to create many turnovers for the team. Robe's mid court line up of Annie Regnier and Lucy Perkins will need to feed accurately into their goalies, Tori Gluyas and Demi Carter, in order to prevent Port MacDonnell's defenders from geng hands to balls. Port MacDonnell's goalies Megan Hein and Kori Collins use their height to their advantage but will need to ensure their accuracy to prevent the Demons defenders from creang turnovers. This game has the potenal to be close and could go either way.

KALANGADOO v MOUNT BURR

Kalangadoo and Mount Burr go head to head in the match of the round on Saturday. Mount Burr defenders Olivia Dean and Megan Thiele will combine well in the circle, pung the pressure on for Magpies Abbey Duncan and Lara Munro. Mount Burr's Laura Schultz and Kalangadoo's Jayde Peacock will bale it out through the midcourt, both creang pressure and turnovers for their respecve teams. Mount Burr goalies Lauren Wheeler and Ebony Clarke are both accurate and combine well in the circle. This game has the potenal to go either way, with both teams hoping to finish the day with the win.

They are fed from outside the circle by Kate Varcoe and Shelby Ryan who are able to put the ball in the space and get their goalies the ball with ease. Kayla Gray and Chrystal Lock work hard in the defensive circle for Nangwarry geng hands to balls and working the ball back down the court, assisted by Hayley Burner in the midcourt. REMINDER

NETball club notes

Junior 2: First game for the season, the girls came out eager to begin and gave it everything they had. The vision down the court and defensive pressure by all was good to see. It was a credit to the girls applying things we have learnt at training while also using advice given in breaks. Thanks to Lacey for filling in and giving 100%. Can't wait to see where your netball journeys will take you throughout the year. Keep up the good work girls! Awards: Poppy Bowering (Dentons Sportspower), Georgina Hassell (Corner Clip).

Junior 1: We started off slowly but seemed to get into some rhythm and find our feet aer the first quarter There were some strong passages of play from the girls, with lots of defensive pressure all over the court which create plenty of turnovers. Our footwork was solid; however, we need to pracce pivong so we can square up and look down the court. Awards: Kirby Carruthers (Corner Clip), Dentons Sportspower (Leyla Marshall).

13 & Under: Glencoe 32 def by Hatherleigh 43. A posive start to the season. All girls worked hard to chase any loose balls, defensively Livvi and Tilly caused lots of turnovers. Luca and Sienna worked the circle well, reading off each other and finishing the shots with accuracy. Alirah and Mollie provided lots of drive through the centre of the court, while Grace and Chloe shut their player out of the game, not giving an inch. Well done on pung the things we are doing during training into our game play.

Awards: Livvi Faulkner (Ducky's Surf), Alirah Bowman (Java Café).

15 & Under: Glencoe 12 def by Hatherleigh 50. What a great start to the season coming away with a strong win. The girls worked hard for every turnover and scored every opportunity. Hannah and Poppy combined well in defence pung lots of pressure on and geng every high ball thrown into them. With all the changes made through our aack line everyone adjusted well and put in 100% effort. Awards: Hannah Bellinger (Ducky's Surf), Amber Chester (Java Cafe).

17 & Under: Glencoe 54 def Hatherleigh 42. No notes supplied.

Awards: Bella Gysbers (Ducky's Surf), Niah Faulkner (Java Café).

B Reserve: Glencoe 20 def by Hatherleigh 41. It was great to finally hit the court for our first game of the season against Glencoe. We would like to welcome Eliza, Melita and Maddie to Hatherleigh and the B Res netball team. You certainly showed today what an asset you will be with all girls contribung to our win. Though we were nervous I thought we came out firing in the first quarter with defensive pressure all over the court which created many turnovers and opportunies for us to score. Melita and Eliza combined well in the circle as one of our new goalie combinaons. It was a physical game and at mes we found it difficult to find space and balance which allowed for scrappy play for some parts of the first three quarters. Fiona and Nic combined well together applying lots of pressure on their opponents. Our last quarter was

our best we started to sele and gel, the court opened up as we had balance allowing a more fluent style which also reflected on the scoreboard with our goalies shoong with accuracy. We have some things to work on but overall, I think we have a great foundaon. We would like to thank Billie for being our primary carer and Jo for scoring, we love your support. Awards: Maddie Copping (Somerset Hotel), Fiona Jackman (Since-Fiy-Six), Nic Thomas (K&F Fuel).

B Grade: Glencoe 42 drew with Hatherleigh 42. We struggled in the first quarter and an injury to Meg early unseled us. With a young aack line, we were working the ball efficiently with Demi using her voice well. Our third quarter was impressive with a nine-goal turnaround led by accurate shoong from Ellie and Hayley. G and Sophie worked hard in defence and had great support from Ella, Jas ran hard all day and Nat worked well in the aack line. We came away with a draw against last year's premiers and know where we need to be. Awards: Ellie Cook (K&S Fuels), Jas Bellinger (SinceFiy-Six), Nat Chambers (Somerset Hotel).

A Reserve: Glencoe 43 def by Hatherleigh 45. Our first hit out for the season and it was set at a fast and furious pace. We had some lovely movement through the mid-court and into our goalies Abby and Eliza. Our second quarter we lost our rhythm and found restricted movement in the goal circle losing the quarter and being down by four at half-me. With Ali going into GA and Cate to WA combined well with Shayla at C, the court opened up and Sarah and Millie started hing their straps with some excellent intercepts and rebounds. Lucy connued to play another awesome quarter liming her player the ball and forcing errors. We spoke at three quarter me how we were sll in this and only three goals down. With outstanding shoong by Abby in the last shoong 12 from 16 and our defensive pressure all over the court by everyone, our determinaon and spirit to win by two. A very extremely pleasing first game ladies – lets set the precedent to play like this each week and we will go far!! Awards: Lucy Corman (Somerset Hotel), Shayla Jones (K&S Fuel), Ali McClelland (Since-FiySix).

A Grade: Glencoe 57 def Hatherleigh 41. As Liss would have said “great to finally get on the court and be against last year’s premiers”. We started with some really good passages of play and we worked hard but the height and accuracy of Glencoe's GS made it tough for us. At mes our wall and triangles saw us create some great turnovers in the mid-court area and our quick releasing of the ball was good, but we were trying to force the ball into slim gaps and it didn't pay off Even though it was a loss we had some good posives to come from our first game, connue to keep working hard and playing for each other. Awards: Tegan Telfer (Somerset Hotel), Rosie Nele (K&S Fuel), Elly Redden (SinceFiy-Six).

NETball club notes

Junior 2: Another great team game by the Junior 2s. Everyone played their part in geng the ball from defence to offence and vice versa with good decisionmaking when idenfying who to pass to. There were some awesome passages of play when the girls led to the ball, ming their moves to perfecon. A lile bit more voice could be heard this week too, which is a massive posive. Footwork needs to come to aenon but we will work on this throughout the season. Awards this week went to Lenny (Kaboom) and Lilah (Badenochs).

Junior 1: Port Mac came out strong but the Kongorong Hawks put the pressure on. Alyssa and Lily worked well in the circle with Alyssa scoring two fantasc goals. Macca was great at leading and intercepons with Isabelle leading and giving plenty of space in the aacking. Claire and Adel showed their movement skills in the circle with some great opportunies for goals. Lily's intercepons in defence along with Allara and Zoe brought the ball down. Great game girls. Best Players went to Macca, Lily and Isabelle.

13 & Under: Fantasc game today girls. We didn't get the win, but there were some great passages of play and awesome shoong. We're really starng to gel as a team and it's great to see you all taking your feedback on board. Special thanks goes to Zoe Awill from Junior 1s who came and filled in for us. Awards today went to Sophie (Arena Sports) and Paige (Fasta Pasta).

15 & Under: Much beer game girls! Very impressed with the footwork which was our main focus this week! And we even scored more than 3 goals. Thank you to the u13 girls for filling in, we will be looking forward to working closely this year. It's excing to see what posions you all thrive in! Best players were Demi Jennings – Arena, and Holly Awill – Zambreros. Special menon to Holly with her 50 games and Rahni for winning the ANZAC Day award.

17 & Under: Bad luck today girls, with three girls down we knew we were in for a bit of a challenge this week. But we definitely stepped up to the plate and showed how much of a compeve side we were even with low numbers, which also shows how much potenal our juniors have by not looking out of place on the court. Big thanks to Rahni and Holly who stepped up

and filled in, both playing great games and to Demi and Ruby for sing bench. We unfortunately went down by 20 in the end but we lost it for ourselves with our own mistakes, but we know what we're capable of so they beer watch out next me. Best players Evie Sealey – Kirralea Jade Makeup and Laser, Jasmin McKinnon – Fasta Pasta.

B Reserve: We gave it a good crack but couldn't get the win. We need to stop and play our game and not get rushed by the other team. Tamika, Izzy & Amber were tested in the ring today, but were able to get some good shots in. Zoe & Marnee worked hard in the centre court. Sll need to work on our posioning around the ring. Lea & Courtney played well in defence as well as Izzy when she changed ends. We were prey good keeping the pressure on all game and we will keep working on our fitness. For our second game it was a good one, we are sll geng used to everyone and where you are all playing, lets keep pushing forward and keep improving each week. Awards, Courtney – Zambrero's & Zoe – Kirralie Jade Make up and Laser.

B Grade: Bad luck today girls. We never gave up and pushed to the last whistle. We are sll a very new team and have so much potenal. I'm sure we will excel when we get it together. Award winners to our two circle defenders Sarah (Park Hotel) and Lyl (Lima & Co).

A Grade: Bad luck girls. I thought our 4 quarter pressure across the court was admirable and always kept us in the game. It's our own passes and rushing with the ball that has let us down and blown out the scoreline. We are playing with enough intensity and intent to keep us compeve, we just need to concentrate and remain calm for the full game to avoid results like these. Kongorong and Port MacDonnell

celebrated the ANZAC Day round on Saturday. Big congratulaons to A Grade netballer Alysha Coon who was awarded the ANZAC Day most valuable player medal.

Junior 2: Well done girls on an excellent game! Even from our first game to our second, there was improvement which is want we want to see this year. We were missing a few due to school holidays - a big thank you to Ava, Skyla & Madison who filled in for us, you all did very well & provided some leadership for our younger girls. Ellie tried hard & ran all day, geng her hands to a lot of balls, Pippa played a great game both in goals & defence, geng quite a few touches at GD. Imogen had a crack in centre, running hard & then WA, passing some nice balls into our goalies. The Bakers Delight award went to Milah who played a great game, shoong some lovely goals & for her incredible listening skills. The Fasta Pasta award went to Lucy who ran & chased every loose ball, followed her player beaufully & got many intercepts down court. Keep working hard girls, well done!

Junior 1: Great game today girls, everyone played with such enthusiasm and awesome teamwork. Zaria shot some great goals as did Torah, Maddy and Skyla. We had a great defence team today by Ava, Maddy, Torah and Eliza. Also a big shout out to the girls that played a great centre court, Ana, Emily and BK. Awards: Madison Carlin (McDonalds), Ava Grundy (Subway).

13 & Under: Kongorong 15 defeated by Port MacDonnell 48. Movement down the court was amazing today. The girls are really starng to mesh well together; using their voices, encouraging each other, and starng to use our court play structure within their game, making their passes flow right down the court into the goalies. This was evident with Evie Jones shoong 14 goals within the third courter, which couldn't of happened without the strong efforts of our defence end pung pressure on the ball and taking clean intercepts.

Awards: Evie Jones (The Bay Pizzeria), Lucy Neale (Arena Surf & Sports).

15 & Under: Kongorong 19 defeated by Port MacDonnell 60. What a day girls! Unfortunately we saw our lile goalie, Bella McLean go down and dislocate her knee. We all hope you have a speedy recovery and hope to see you back out on the court soon. A huge thankyou to Bella's younger sister Kasey McLean for stepping up from Under 13's and being the 8th player in the Under 15's unl we have our full 9 back so thank you. There is sll a bit to work on but being early days, we can definitely get on top of our silly errors like our footwork and our passing. These let us down a bit today so we will definitely be working more on this in the coming weeks. I am so proud of how everyone went out and played today aer everything that happened at the start of the game. You all went out there and killed it in the first half Aer each quarter break we came in and spoke about things that didn't feel right to the girls and how to change it. We had a lot of blood rule the first half and most of the girls had to be patched up. Overall, the transion down the court was amazing, everyone had great defensive pressure all over the court which was exactly what I asked going into this game. Top effort to all the girls, in the second half we decided that we were going to throw the bibs in the air for a bit of fun. This saw Layla and Isla playing in goals and they didn't disappoint when they were shoong; great work coming from a defender and a lile mid courter. In defence we saw lile Jazzy and Bailee and let me tell you, they blitzed it out there. Through the mid court we had Lily, Chelsea, and Chloe even though these were familiar posions for these girls they all got around the girls that were out of their comfort zone. Top effort to all girls

involved today, you killed it. Awards went to Kasey McLean (Fasta Pasta) for her last minute help with sing on the bench, which was very much appreciated, and Bailee Lewis (Subway) for her leadership all over the court. Well done girls.

17 & Under: Kongorong 37 defeated by Port MacDonnell 61. This week we travelled to Kongorong for another tough game with our opposion coming off a big win last week. Our girls went out and hit the court running, intensity at a maximum. We had another incredible team effort this week, each player doing their part to get the job done. Goalies, Lara Wilson and Lilly Day combined beaufully in the circle and for a brand new combinaon, they are looking very promising this early in the season. Our mid court was again strong, feeding our circle with precision and providing the defensive pressure required to keep building our lead throughout the game. It was our defensive combinaon of Bridie McPherson and Alicetyn Stanley that came away with our best player awards for their tenacity and reless effort in the circle against a strong Kongorong goalie duo. Sponsors: Birdie Blue & Bakers Delight.

B Reserve: Kongorong 19 defeated by Port MacDonnell 42. It was a tough game. This made us work hard for every pass, where your extra efforts paid off. Clearing the ball out of defence and working the ball into aack was great. Aack kept adjusng to the condions and you all worked hard. It was good to see, keep it up. Awards: Amber Moulden (Shipwreck Bistro, Victoria Hotel Port MacDonnell), Eboni Smith (Birdie Blue).

B Grade: Kongorong 25 defeated by Port MacDonnell 40. It took a good 2 quarters to sele today. We put so much pressure on ourselves and we made unnecessary unforced errors. We played very rushed netball. We need to focus on the things that we can control and trust the structures and processes we pracce. We also need to adapt to situaons quickly, be resilient, maintain focus and move on. Our last half of the game was our best. It was controlled and paent. We used the ball beer and we slowed down to maintain possession. We played for each other and controlled what we could control to get the desired result. Awards: Deanne Spencer (Shipwreck Bistro, Victorian Hotel Port MacDonnell), Rachel Johnstone (The Bay Pizzeria).

A Reserve: Kongorong 34 defeated by Port MacDonnell 54. A great start to yesterday's game girls, we had an awesome first quarter and went out strong geng an awesome lead. Awesome effort by our defense today, who kept working hard and got many touches and turn overs. Our aack line looked a lot beer and felt a lot more open, which was great to see as what we are praccing at training is working. Thank you to Lara for filling in for us today, she played an awesome game with a great shoong average. I do believe our court fitness got to us in the end, so we need to ensure everyone aends training and does fitness outside of our training nights. Let's keep working hard and keep the posive atude happening. Awards: Nic Collins (F45 & Kirralie Jade), Lara Wilson (Shipwreck Bistro, Victoria Hotel Port MacDonnell).

A Grade: Kongorong 32 defeated by Port MacDonnell 47. Great game girls. We started off a lile slow but aer half me we got going. Another great effort by Alana and Alysha working overme in defence and geng many turn overs. Great holding and moving by Kori in the circle. Michelle drove down the court and fed into the circle well. Overall, it was a great game with lots to take out of it. Awards: Alysha Coon, sponsored by K&S (Birdie Blue), Michelle Moore, sponsored by Merre Logging (Intersport).

robe

NETball club notes

A Grade: Robe 34 def by K'doo 57. Not the game we wanted to play. We went out with confidence, however couldn't get scores on the board. With a few changes at half me, Emily went into GD, Halle to WD and Annie to C, we came out firing in the second half, however, couldn't maintain the intensity. We went down by too many. We will work hard at training and focus on coming together as a team and get back on the board this week. Calcua Lucy Perkins (Me & Miss Jones) & Incenve Demi Carter (The Eight Leer Bungalow).

A Reserve: Robe 42 def K'doo 31. A rematch of last year's grand final and boy, it didn't disappoint. What a win, we worked consistently as a team direcng play and encouraging each other to keep the talk up. Our defensive pressure and rebounding at both ends created many scoring opportunies. Calcua went to Kimberley Ausn (Loaves & Fishes) for her strong defensive pressure and liming her opponent's scoring shots. Incenve went to Emillie Gould (Millicent Sportspower), she stood up against tough defenders and had some impressive shots and rebounds.

B Grade: Robe 37 def by Kdoo 54. The Kdoo might just be the benchmark for Season 23 and provided us with targets to work on throughout the year. The last half of the game showed more effort to stay within reach of our opponents by mixing things up, playing our own game, and showing a bit more aggression at the ball. A big thanks to Maisie and Libby for helping a brother out, and to George for being our bencher again. The defence worked relessly all day, playing against some very experienced goalies, and were rewarded with turnovers with their persistence and switching things up. The second efforts in the last half were a real credit to the team and are what we should be aiming for each week. Calcua went to Libby Yeo (Holiday) and incenve to Ella Mackey (Woodsoak Wines).

B Reserve: Robe 41 def by K'doo 53. What a cracker of a game!! We came into this game wanng to play our game and keep the score as close as we could and that is exactly what we did. Defence again played a strong consistent game. Sophie and Tamara worked hard to bring the ball down to the goalies. Jess got coaches incenve (Woodsoak Wines) today for a strong game in goals. Special menon also to Emma and Mardi for a strong game in goals. Calcua went to the very deserving Sophie (Salubrious Hour). Aer today I am super excited to see what we can do for the rest of the season.

17 & Under: Robe 60 def K'doo 25. What a game. Aer last week’s loss, this week you came out with more determinaon and fight. The aack end worked well as a team and fed

the goalies accurately, who were moving well within the ring. There were some great rebounds and intercepts from the defence which gave us plenty of opportunies to put in place some great plays down the court. This week's incenve went to Charlie (Millicent Sportspower) for taking everything in at training and posioning her body for some great leads. Best Player went to Georgie (Hook & Harvest) for great shoong and moving around the circle. Any of you girls could have been awarded best player today as you all had a fabulous game.

15 & Under: Robe 6 def by K'doo 103. Robe came up against a very tall and polished K'doo side. Despite this challenge we all persisted for the four quarters and adapted to numerous posional changes. Millie Fennell showed her versality moving from goals to defence, and combined well with a determined Maddie Varga in GK, who was awarded best player (The Pastry Place) for the day. A big thank you to Stella Roach for filling in again, we really appreciate it. Welcome back to Olivia Cheung, returning from a knee fracture, providing much needed height in the centre and earning herself the incenve (Millicent Sportspower) award for her efforts. This week we will work on driving to the ball, being ball side and looking down court when passing. Let's reset and look forward to playing Pt Mac next week.

13 & Under: Robe 4 def by K'doo 64. Although the score didn't show it, the girls gave it their all, Kalangadoo were just too strong. The goalies worked hard trying to get the ball into the ring with the Kalangadoo defenders proving to be too strong. Livia and Lacey worked really well in the mid court the whole game. Defenders Saskia and Poppy got lots of intercepts which we were unfortunately not able to get down our end to score. Best player went to Zoe (Union Café) and Incenve going to Lacey (Millicent Sportspower).

Junior 1: The sun shone for our juniors today. Kalangadoo were a tall strong team and our girls worked hard all game. Scarle and Edie were a great team in defence. Aurla may have found her place in aack. Coaches award this week went to Edie (SE Excavaons) for working hard all game.

Junior 2: The junior 2's had a great game! So much improvement from last week. Evie and Jess had a great effort in goals. Paisley and Madison lead well at WA, Lydia ran through centre with some great defensive pressure. Mia, Halle and Avan did a great job in defence, chasing their players and geng their hands over lots of balls. Even though we didn't score a goal – we showed great determinaon and posive talk all over the court! Great effort girls!! Incenve went to Halle Obst (Caledonian Inn).

NETball club notes

Junior 2: What a great game with amazing sportsmanship throughout the whole team. Every player started using their voices and encouraged their team and the other team which was lovely to see. Best on today was Heidi Fasta Pasta and Hannah Wendy's who both got to have a great full game with the other players. Keep up the amazing work and improving because each player has improved so much already and I know there is more to come.

Junior 1: Another excellent game from a different combinaon of players. Thanks to Adele, Olivia, Charloe, Ariella, Zali for playing J1 today. Everyone played so well. Ebony and Mills combined well with Milla taking some great rebounds earning her the Kalangadoo cap this week. Also Zali earned the McDonald's voucher for running hard and taking lots of intercepons. We sll need to work hard on coming forward to the ball.

13 & Under: Fantasc team game from all players. It was pleasing to see all players working hard to achieve the goals that we had set. Lexi got her hands to so many balls and also played a great quarter at WA. Ava and Zara had fun in goals together and Malda and Molly worked hard all game. Tekani showed her potenal and athlec ability and Ella enjoyed her run at WA. Thanks Ebony for stepping up and showing her capability and Emmity again played strongly in goals. Best Players LexiProperty Co award and AvaMcDonalds award.

15 & Under: Good win today girls. Impressed by everyone's drive and determinaon to push each other and the score board. Everyone applied pressure down the court causing turnovers. Well done to Zoe for her first game of netball. Thank you and good job to our under 13s, you all are definitely up to the task. Best players Zoe - Recyclables and Lucy - Boost.

17 & Under: With different combinaons we worked well to adjust. With the first half we created lots of turnovers but we struggled to convert them into goals. We sll have got

some work to do with our court spacing, but we showed we have lots of potenal. Best players Harmony - Bridie Blue and Ebony - Boost.

B Reserve: Solid effort in warm condions than we expected. We came out strong in the first quarter and stuck to our game plan for the enre game. Bec White controlled the mid court well. Ange Case came back from a dislocated shoulder and played out the game. Bri and Gemma dominated the defence circle again this week. All three shooters played a great game, following their shots and making the most of rebounds. Best players Bri - Fasta Pasta and Maddie S - Café Melzar

B Grade: Great game today girls, we came up against a tough Robe side but we started strong and kept the momentum going all game. Lydia worked hard down the court to create pressure enabling our defenders to turn the ball over Bel held well in the circle with accurate feeding from Zoe and Lydia. Keep up the hard work up girls. Best players Lydia Mules Gambier Pharmacy and Bel Giddings Ary award.

A Reserve: A tough game today against a strong Robe side. We are sll finding our feet and learning to work fluidly as a team for now and there were some really great, posive patches of netball. Our first half was steady and consistent with excellent feeding to our goalies. But Robe came out firing in the second half with some fresh posions and legs and it got the beer of us. Plenty to work and improve on with a very solid foundaon. Best players Sophie Wrightson - Birdie Blue and Shanae Neal - Boost.

A Grade: Tremendous team effort by all players to come away with a solid win. Lauren's pre game intake worked a treat combining well with a young defence line to create many scoring opportunies. The aack line combined extremely well, accepted the challenges and worked hard to maximise scoring opportunies. A huge thank you to Re, Shanae and Gina for your support. Best players Loz – Globe, Georgi –Intersport, Lara – Kirralie Jade.

NETball club notes

Last Saturday we hosted Tantanoola where we started our day of netball a lile later to work in with the night game of football. Many of us were lucky enough to enjoy the Ladies Day where we had a prime posion up on the hill to overlook the football playing arena. The A grade football played their game under the magnificent new lighng in a close match taking away the win. The weather gods were not as kind to us as we would of hoped but overall the evening was a well organised amazing event that was well supported by ladies from Mount Burr, Tantanoola and other neighbouring clubs. A great night with a donaon given to research into ovarian cancer which is a cause that is close to all of our hearts.

A huge thank you to all of the ladies that were involved with organising the event, the generous sponsors and everyone that came and support the evening.

Junior 2: What another fantasc game, girls. You have started off the season so well. It's encouraging to see what we have been working on at training coming out in gameplay. We had confident ball movement down the court, strong passes, great teamwork and encouragement. We need to work on coming towards the ball and moving in front of our players. This will all come with pracce but I can't wait to see how you improve on these skills in the next few weeks. The Zambreros award went to Paige for great movement in the goal circle, coming in front and having an awesome quarter in goals.

Junior 1: What a great game girls! I was so proud to see you pung into our game what we were praccing at training. Our transion and passing down the court gave us lots of scoring opportunies. Awards this week went to Wren (Subway) for her strong leading and reoffering and Poppy (Sportspower drink bole) for her great defensive efforts all over the court. Thank you so much to Grace for filling in for us, slong into the team perfectly

13 & Under: Well done girls, another close game. Aer our first quarter we did a great job geng back in the game. We need to remember to front cut and stay in the front posion to receive the ball going down the court. There was lots of pressure all over the court and we created many turnovers, which was great to see. Working hard at training is improving our game each week. Thanks to Shannon for scoring, Stacey for ming and Madi for umpiring. Awards goes to Denton SportsPower drink bole – Isabelle, Boost – Hannah and Fasta Pasta – Jessica.

15 & Under: Well done girls. We played 110% throughout the whole game and applied what we've been doing at training! We came in front and re offered. We need to focus on using our voices and talking to one another! Best players went to Becky Davis (Sports Power voucher) who came out of her comfort zone and done exceponally well in goals pairing with Sarah and Holly. Kaylah Wilson (Fasta Pasta) for controlling the game and chasing loose balls. Big thanks to Shannon and Stacey for blowing those leaves off the court!! Leila for umpiring, Stacey for scoring and Julie for ming.

17 & Under: A much tougher game this week trying to match Tants strong aacking line up. It was great to see you all starng to put some of the things we are pracsing at training in the game. You adapted well to posional changes that

we didn't forsee. Shows the flexibility and willingness to be best at whatever is thrown your way. Some great driving and passing in our aack line and tenacity in our defensive circle to connue to make small changes to get the small wins. We can connue to work on pung pressure through the centre court to assist our defensive players in the circle. Much beer plays in throwins this week and using the swing back to reset. Well done to Jemma for receiving Fatsa Pasta award, Ashlee and Jasmine for the Sports Power award Thanks Lynne for umpiring and Paul for scoring.

B Reserve: Well done girls, great job. We had players missing and we all did afantasc job adjusng. We put lots of pressure all over the courts, with great hands over the ball, creang many turnovers, and we were paence with our feeding into the circle, to finish off. Love it when we bring new players fill in our team and we work so well together, with great support for each other. Keep working hard girls. A huge thanks to Jasmine for filling in. Thanks to Shannon for scoring, Zoe for ming and Lauren for umpiring. Awards Millicent Chemist –Dawn and Melzar Café – Emily

B Grade: Today’s game wasn't the result we were hoping for, we have to remember to play as a team and talk more on court! Stacey showed determinaon every quarter in defence whilst Charloe and Zoe played well together in goals, there were some nice passages of play but we can definitely improve and aim to be beer each week. Thanks to Leah for umpiring and Hannah for scoring.

A Reserve: We were lucky to have some nice weather for the weekend but unfortunately we didn't come away with the win. We had a great first quarter being up by 1.We slowed down which allowed Tant to get in front , We fought back in the third and only being 4 down going into the last quarter, however Tant capitalise on turn overs and ran away with the win. We had some great passages of play throughout the game and our defensive pressure on court was good. We have a lot to take away from this game .It was good see court plays from training being applied to on court. Thanks to Mandy for umpiring and Colleen for scoring. Awards – Heaven on Hanger –Lilly Hateley, Millicent Giware and Chemist – Maddie Gamble.

A Grade: Coming off a great win last week, the girls were raring to go. We knew the game against Tant was going to be a tough one. Aer a strong first quarter from both sides, we were one up at our first break. Once again our defensive pressure all over the court was incredible, creang many turnovers. But this week we were unable to capitalise as much as we could have, meaning Tant took the lead by one at half me. Geng some fresh legs on in the third quarter, helped us to keep up the intensity. The passing consistency into the goal ring from Ella and Laura combined with the accuracy of Ebony and Lauren in the third quarter helped to generate a one point lead heading into the last. The last quarter saw the girls come out strong, with a few turnovers from the defensive end and the goalies converng for a four point lead midway through the quarter. This is where we began to make a few errors and our intensity dropped. Tantanoola took advantage of that and ended up coming away with a four goal win. The girls put up a great fight and our combinaons are really starng to gel. Excited for what's to come!

Junior 2: Strong game girls! You did a great job implemenng what we have been working on at training, using our "ice cream" feet & coming in front. Thank you for providing the snakes for the girls Kristy Bromley! Shanks encouragement award went to captain Ellie and Wendy's voucher, Lexi.

Junior 1: Wow! Two very happy coaches watching all the girls pung into pracce those skills they've been working on so hard at training – well done! Everyone was worthy of an award. Nyree (Coaches award – Devine Gis) for a top game with lots of intercepts along with remembering her footwork and passing. Gracie (Wendy's award) for some lovely long, accurate passing and chasing aer every ball. Stella (McDonalds award) for dispaying great listening skills and concentraon in defence.

13 & Under: Oh girls what a close one, going down by 1 in a nail biter We were down a couple of players; it was a strong and physical game and we led for most of it. We had lots of good passages of play, we just need to remember to slow it down and not play behind. You should all feel very proud. Awards: Kailee - Fasta Pasta and JaycieMcDonalds.

15 & Under: Well done girls for connuing to give your all in what was a tough game. We know that we have huge gap to fill in catching up our netball skills & knowledge compared to other teams & each week will be tough, but if we are able to work hard not only at trainings & games will be able to close the gap. Keep listening, asking quesons, work on small goals & have fun while playing & improving. Fasta Pasta award went to Alexis for her pressure in defence & some great intercepons. Wendys Award went to Isabel for her movement in aack & working well in the ring.

17 & Under: A really tough fought out game this week by the girls. We all knew it was going to go down to the wire and the intensity was high all game. Each one of you played your role and also played so well as a team. Molly and Bella played beaufully in goals with only their second game together as a duo. You girls are in sync and read off each other to create some great passages of play. Demi, our award winner this week who played a solid game at WA. Your ming onto the ball was perfect and you use your speed well, a very deserving best player for the day. Ebs, you ran solid through the middle all game and adjust well to new opponents throughout the game. Kaitlin, our second award winner for the day had a ripper game at WD, you are reading the play so well and got too many ps to count. Kailah, another one of our speedy midcourters

adapted well into WD and got heaps of ps for our side to convert off Holly and Charli, you two are working so well together and are geng stronger each week. Demi Bevan - Commiee award and Kaitlin Thomas - KFC award.

B Reserve: Bad luck girls, we stuck to them for 3 quarters and one quarter we just lapsed concentraon, with rushing of the ball which then this caused forced errors and no control of the ball which made it hard then to bring the ball down to our aacking end! I was happy with the game play!! Awards: Tarrah Taylor - Denton's and Lauren Newman – Sassi.

B Grade: Tantanoola B Grade girls came away with a well deserved win this week. In what was a close match at half me the girls had an excellent last 2 quarters of netball implemenng what they had learnt at training and coming away with the win. Best on went to Ella Clarke this week, Ella played exceponally well in WD and is very excing to watch, second best went to Chloe McCallum who dominated the mid court with both girls taking home Sassi vouchers.

A Reserve: Tantanoola come out a lile slow in the first quarter. Once we seled with a new goalie combinaon things started to flow a lile beer. Goaler Shelby Ryan was extremely accurate for the game and was well supported by Dakota Hateley who is a very strong rebounder. Mid court of Madi and Krystal ran hard for the game causing some vital turnovers to give us a few goals lead. Michelle at WD worked relessly contesng every ball to her opponent. Defensive duo of Bianca and Lucy are beginning to create headaches for goalies, with strong rebounding and ght checking for the game. A couple of injuries allowed us to make some changes with and extend out lead. The training in specific areas is starng to be seen constantly throughout the game. Best: Shelby Ryan - Tant Football Club tea and Krystal Redden - Dentons Sports Power

A Grade: Great performance that was fought out to the end. Great to see Kate B (Fiy Six Award) and Tayla blocking out and taking strong rebounds. Thanks to Narelle for showing our circle defenders some pointers and providing lots of areas that we can work on for the season. Super accurate shoong from Keryl (Tantanoola Football Club Award) with Jami providing some great movement in the circle. Well done to Shelby and Bella who performed well and did what was asked of them. Let's connue to work hard at training and see further improvement in the coming weeks.

Thank you also to Sonia and Tayla for umpiring it was greatly appreciated.

Junior 2: We are proud of how all the girls played in round one. For many of our team it was their first ever game of netball. They all showed some great qualies and we believe each week they will grow into a great lile team. We scored one goal for the game, shot by Mia Moy and assisted by Ariella Thomson. Best players for round one were Mia Moy and Lexi Minnis.

Junior 1: Well done girls on your first game of the season against Mt Burr! We had a strong defence line with Asha.D and Zoe.R with many intercepts and rebounds. Our mid court was followed with Leah.N in C. KeeleyC our WA had strong passes and leads in the Mid court. Tahlia.G played WD chased some loose balls and intercepted a few centre passes. The girls kept the ball flowing down the court using the taccs they have previously learnt at training. Our aack side scored many goals and had good movement in the circle, played by Izzy L and Harper C Best players this week went to Izzy and Asha!

13 & Under: Wow what an amazing first game! We had some nerves and played a strong Mount Burr side but the team played a great game! We have some things to work on but we look forward to seeing the improvement each week and seeing what this team can achieve. This week the award went to Imogen for really stepping it up in WA and listening to everything we told her. Well done!

15 & Under: Welcome to the Club Keira and Alexis. Fantasc first game. We played extremely well for three quarters with everyone doing their part to be up at the third me break. We just couldn't handle the inmaon from the opposion crowd in the last quarter and some quesonable decisions ensured we lost by one. Big thank you to Ruby and Nellie for filling in, we loved having you. Enjoy the week off and with Madison back let's try to get the win against Tant. Fasta Pasta Award Holly Dinnison for her passing into goalies and when WD went her caused turnovers. Best game Holly has played and sure this will connue this form for the season.

17 & Under: I am incredibly proud of the effort and by our players in our first game and first overall me coming together as a team. Although it took us a bit of me to find our groove, once we did, we were able to come out in front and play some excellent netball. We must now focus on building and improve our fitness and skills. It is crucial that all players aend training regularly and work hard to develop their individual abilies as well as their team dynamic. With connued dedicaon and hard work, I have no doubt that we can achieve great things this season and beyond.

B Reserve: Tough game today girls with a couple of people out. We played our game and tried our hardest with many people in places they don't normally play. We adapted well to all changes made. Best Players Tamara Shepherd

B Grade: Not a win, but it was a great game to watch and the score board does not reflect how well you all played. I could not have asked for me in a first game where over half of the girls are new to the club. Everyone had great passages of play and when strung together we were able to capitalise and score. Next week we just need to make sure these passages are more consistent. Like I said I can do fitness at trainings but if you want to improve personally fitness needs to be on you. Ellie and Zoe both played a great game in defence and deserved to be recognised for their rebounds, pressure and turn overs. Overall a pleasing game and it showed me the potenal we have as a team.

A Reserve: Our first game of the season was not without its challenges. The sudden onset of winter rain made it difficult and we realised the regret of playing a winter sport in such condions. However, despite these difficules, our players showed great resilience and determinaon, and we eventually found our groove. Once we started to come forward for the ball and work together as a team, our game improved significantly however unfortunately today our day wasn't. Our focus must be on connuing to build on this progress. We need to ensure that all players aend training regularly to focus on their fitness and skills. We also need to remember the importance of communicaon on the court, which will help us to stay organised and work together more effecvely. With dedicaon and hard work, I am confident that we can overcome the challenges that come our way and achieve success this season.

A Grade: A great first hit out girls so proud of our efforts for the first game. We had a great even first quarter with some good defence in the circle by Chrystal and Kayla. We had some really good patches of play. Unfortunately our fitness let us down for some of the game, making us make some poor choices. Aack line worked hard all game and when we moved ball around and not forced we were able to find the space and finish off well. Let's work on the few things at training. Thanks Kate for helping out. Award went to Demi.

ROUND 2 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW

Glencoe 57 def Hatherleigh 41

Round 2 saw the Murphies host Hatherleigh in their first game for the 2023 season. Both teams took to the court with adjusted line-ups, seng up for an intriguing contest. Jenna Paproth returned to the Glencoe aack line and Hatherleigh filled their defensive holes with youngsters Elly Redden and Rosie Nele.

The game started at a high intensity with both teams eager to get a good start. Teams went goal for goal to start the quarter with Glencoe's aackers connecng with Chantelle Cocks with ease under the post and the Eagle's Tegan Telfer working the ball paently into their goal circle. The Murphies defenders worked relessly to limit opons in Hatherleigh's aack line forcing plenty of turnover ball. Despite some impressive contests from Hatherleigh's Lara MacGregor, the Murphies connued to push on and entered the first break with a four-goal lead.

The strong presence of Cocks under the post forced Hatherleigh to bring Millie Smith into Goal Keeper in an aempt to curve Cocks' influence. This change did not deter the Glencoe aack line with Donna Jaeschke feeding the ball with confidence from off circles edge. Eagles Rosie Nele and Glencoe's Alice Tentye had a ght tussle on the wing with neither player allowing any space. The fast pace of the game caused both teams to make some simple errors as the quarter wore on. Glencoe's defensive combinaon of Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen connued to cause headaches in the Hatherleigh goal circle. At the main break the Murphies had extended their lead to seven goals.

Both teams started the second half unchanged. Hatherleigh's Telfer connued to lead from the front for her side, driving strongly to circles edge and ulising her paence to eventually find Maddie Pulmer and Demi Vanderhorst. However, inaccuracy from the Eagle shooters allowed Owen and Edwards to snatch up any missed goals. Glencoe connued to find their avenue to goal despite the Eagle defenders falling back on Cocks. The quarter saw some impressive athlecism on display through strong contested takes. Glencoe's connued dominance saw them in front by 11.

Hatherleigh entered the final quarter with an adjusted defensive combinaon. MacGregor moved back to Goal Keeper and Redden reentered the game at Goal Defence. The young defenders were unable to have their desired influence over the experience of Cocks and Paproth who lied their intensity and explored different avenues to post. The Glencoe defence end worked hard to block up space allowing the speed of Edwards to intercept any high balls into the circle. The Eagles aack line dropped in intensity allowing Glencoe to win the final quarter by five goals.

The final score being Glencoe 57 Hatherleigh 41. Best for the Murphies were Edwards and Cocks, while Telfer and Nele took the honour for the Eagles.

Best players - Glencoe: Sarah Edwards, Chantelle Cocks; Hatherleigh: Tegan Telfer, Rosie Nele.

Kongorong 32 lost to Pt MacDonnell 47

The first quarter of the game saw both the Demons and the Hawks go hard at the ball. Early defensive pressure lead by Alana Berkefeld in Goal Defence for the Demons forced a break in the Hawks' first centre pass, allowing Port Mac take the lead early in the game. Berkefeld combined with Alysha Coon and they worked hard over the shot and drove the ball down the court from the back line to transion the ball to

their tall shoong circle of Megan Hein and Kori Collins who both got a good look at the ball early. Both side's shooters took their me to sele into their shots, with plenty of rebounding opportunity which Berkefeld and Coon, as well as the Hawks Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody, all capitalised on for their respecve teams. The Demons took a 2 goal lead heading into the first break.

The second quarter saw the defensive pressure from both sides connue. The Demons made some posional changes through their mid court while the Hawks remained unchanged. These decisions hindered neither team as both teams worked overme to get that edge to damage the score line. The defensive combinaons down each end of the court lead the charge for both teams, seng the tone of high intensity and pressure while Rach Perry for the Hawks and Liza Mitch for the Demons baled hard through the middle. The Hawks brought the margin back to just 1 at half me with Port MacDonnell 18 to Kongorong 17.

The Hawks remained unchanged heading into the second half while the Demons once again made changes in their mid-court, this me bringing on the fresh legs of Shannon Scheidl into Centre. This change appeared to be the edge that the Demons needed to push this game out from under the Hawks, with Kongorong losing possession quickly through the mid court and giving the Demons a lot of ball in the third term. Coon and Berkefeld capitalised on the pressure that the Kongorong mid court was under and were rewarded in the circle. The Demons outscored the Hawks 15 to 6 in the third term due to their back lines hard work, pushing the score out to 10 heading into the last break.

Both teams connued to fight hard defensively up either end as the wet condions hit the second half of the match. Buckingham and Lightbody down the defensive end for the Hawks were both working overme for their side whilst Ebony Lawson and Michelle Moore both didn't ease up pace all game in a thrilling contest down the court. Port MacDonnell again got a good look at the ball with their defensive pressure all down the court producing mulple turnovers converted by Hein and Collins that could seal the deal for the Demons and pick themselves up their first win of 2023.

Best players - Kongorong: Rach Perry, Emily Lightbody; Pt Mac: Alysha Coon, Michelle Moore.

Mt Burr 44 lost to Tantanoola 48

The game started goal for goal for goal with all players working hard to gain possession. Olivia Dean at Goal Keeper for Mt Burr took a couple of intercepts early in the game with Goal Aack Lauren Wheeler finishing off well in the aack line for the Burr. Late in the quarter, Keryl Ousey, Tantanoola’s Goal Aack came into the game, shoong with accuracy and using her height to advantage with accurate passing from the centre court players.

Jami Walker at and Ousey swapped posions and Walker created space and gave extra drive into aack. Ousey connued to shoot well despite the pressure from Dean and Megan Thiele in the defensive circle for Mt Burr. Ebony Clark came into the game at Goal Shooter for the Mozzies with Ella Easterby and Laura Schultz passing with paence. Poulish worked hard at Wing Defence for Tant to aempt to stop the drive onto the circle. Mt Burr made a few passing errors late in the quarter, allowing Tant to make the most of their opportunies and score. Tant was paent in aack when Thiele

and Dean were applying pressure in the circle.

The quarter started goal for goal with goalies scoring from presented opportunies. Westerman was replaced by Caitlyn Pane and Tantanoola moved Shelby Ryan into Wing Aack and Casey Walker into Wing Defence. Thiele took the first intercept to help Mt Burr score and gain the slight advantage. J Walker connued to do the work outside of the circle to help Tant score through Ousey. Tant made the most of some loose Burr passing to keep in touch on the score board. Both teams created immense pressure through the centre court with Schultz making space and driving the ball into the aack. Both Defensive ends were making it hard for centre court players to get an easy pass into the goal circle.

Neither side made changes and the game connued to be a close affair with Mt Burr geng the early lead though the shoong of Clark. Kate Bromley for Tantanoola worked hard to shut down the drive and holding game of Wheeler at GA for Burr. Tant made the most of the opportunies and scored when taking care of the ball and Varcoe passing accurately into goalies. Mt Burr made some mely intercepts through Dean and Thiele, however were unable to retain centre passes to keep the score line in their favour. Jamie Walker connued to provide drive with Shelby Ryan driving hard onto the circle and passing with paence. The final quarter went in Tant’s favour with the Tigers coming away with a 3 goal win.

Best players - Mt Burr: Olivia Dean, Ella Easterby; Tantanoola: Kate Bromley, Keryl Ousey

Kalangadoo came out firing in the first quarter with their goalies Lara Munro and Abbey Duncan moving and shoong well with Duncan only missing one goal for the quarter. Robe’s Tori Gluyas shot with accuracy, also only missing one. Kalangadoo dominated and won the quarter 15 to 7.

The second quarter saw no changes by both teams, once again Kalangadoo dominated and made it hard for Robe’s goalies to get it into the ring. Robe made too many unforced errors, which saw balls picked off by Lauren Kain and Georgia Genle in Kalangadoo’s defensive end. Which saw them in the lead 35 to 20 at half me.

At half me Robe made a few changes - with Emily Hunter moving to Goal Defence, Annie Regnier to Centre and Halle Cater to Wing Defence. With Kalangadoo once again making no changes. Robe came out firing and got the first couple of turnovers with Hunter matching up well on Abbey Duncan and Robe’s Georgia Perkins geng her hands to a few balls at Goal Keeper. However Kalangadoo composed themselves and worked the ball down the court with ease. With Robe having spurts of control and capitalised on a few turnovers, Robe’s accuracy also let them down and Kain and Genle made the most of any rebound opportunity. The score being 27 to 48 at 3/4 me.

The last quarter saw no changes by either team and was a bit more even with Robe having some great passages of play, however Kalangadoo were too strong and came away winning the last quarter by 4 goals. With the final score being 34 to 57.

Best players - Robe: Lucy Perkins, Demi Carter; Kalangadoo: Lauren Kain, Georgia Genle.
