for hawks’ john simkin John Simkin pulled on the Kongorong guernsey for the 250th me last week, against Nangwarry. Commencing in 2004, as a twenty year old, a seasoned campaigner, 'Simmo' has spent the majority of his football years playing up in the forward line, snagging hundreds of goals along the way. Some would say goal kicking is arguably the most crucial skill in footy, and Simmo has cra ed his technique to be a formidable opponent. He has won the club's leading goal kicker on numerous occasions, including 2011 and 12, 2014 and 15, 2017-19 in A Grade, together with B Grade in 2015 (a year he also won it in the A Grade), and also the Mid SE Football League Leading Goal Kicker

in 2014 with 65 goals. In 2004 he represented the club in the Zone Team, and also took out the Best Under 21 Player for Kongorong, received a Coach's Trophy along the way, and was the first recipient of the Wes Milne Memorial Trophy in 2018. Simmo is a mentor to the younger players in the club, and is always happy to share his vast football knowledge and tricks of the trade with the up and comers. Congratula ons Simmo on 250 senior games, we're sure you s ll have quite a few more in you!

ROUND 3 ACTION: kalangadoo VS MOUNT BURR

VIEW FROM THE HILL Well Kalangadoo have well and truly stamped their authority on the compe on and a couple of teams in the a ermath have had a reality check as to what it is going to take to overcome the Mighty Magpies in 2021. The Kdoo boys were certainly up and about a er the longawaited unfurling of their 2019 Premiership Flag, and in the first quarter Mt Burr were able to match the current MSEFL premiers for speed and precision around the ground and all appeared that we were in for a bumper game. However, Kalangadoo obviously were only travelling in first gear and a er the shuffling of a few magnets on the old white board put the pedal to the metal and dominated play from start to finish. Goal kicking prac ce was clearly the focus of the week for Kalangadoo who finished with an accurate 16-7. Mt Burr really struggled up forward a er quarter me, probably due to a couple of reasons. No Hamish Smith to take the pressure off Jack Gregory and give Mt Burr another forward op on and the clearance rate out of the centre heavily weighted towards Kalangadoo – can't do much with the footy if you can't get your hands on it! Mitch Lowe for the home side picked up where he finished off last week and was justly awarded 1st best, in fact Kalangadoo's backline dominated the be er players with Nathan Reeves, (2nd) and Ma Fatchen (4th) also featuring. Other to pick up best player awards were Ty McManus, 3rd, Ben Gregory and Jon Mules, 5th & 6th respec vely. Favourite son Ben Mules headed the goal kickers with 4, Michael Krieger finished the day with 3 as did young Tom Searle. Overall Kalangadoo had 8 individual goal scorers, spreading the load and making life damn hard for opposi on backmen. For the visitors Jack Gregory was their only mul ple goal scorer who kicked 3 out their 4 goals. Sam Wallis, fresh from playing his 100th A Grade game against Glencoe last week picked up another BOG, 2nd best went to Taylor Allen, followed by James Wallis, Josh Wallis, Jack Muhovics and Bradley Sco . Coach Reece Duncan would be well pleased with his younger brigade, they are certainly displaying skills beyond their years. Over at Glencoe it was obvious from the first bounce that both teams were eager for their first win of 2021. Tantanoola were certainly up for the challenge and were keen to make Hayden 'H' Brown's 200th senior game a memorable one. Their younger members and par cularly their defenders were standing up well against a new look Glencoe forward line who had added Mick McRae. A er quarter me though it was all Glencoe who was star ng to dominate across half back with the likes of Zacc Cocks and Pa y Mitchell bringing an end to any Tantanoola forward a empts, who could only manage 5 behinds for the quarter. Dylan Childs must've forgo en to shower during the week as it seemed no one from Tantanoola wanted to get anywhere near him for the game and he did what he liked, when he liked and booted home 5 goals as well. Glencoe did their best to keep Tantanoola in the game kicking a wayward 17-18 for the match, but they certainly found forward entries a lot easier than the past two weeks. Highlights for the visitors were few and far between. Their first quarter was by far their best only trailing by 9pts on the scoreboard and the form of their senior colts and younger team members provides hope for the future. Tantanoola's only mul ple goal scorer for the match was Brandon Pi s with 2. Chris Oliver con nues his good form with

another best on ground performance, Jack Dawe picked up 2nd best and Great Southern Football League recruit Adam Hunter named 3rd. For the home side the scoreboard damage was done by Childs with 5, Alex Hentschke 3, Mitchell and McRae 2. No surprise with Childs named the Murphies best, Zacc Cocks picked up 2nd best, Brodie Glynn who transferred from Port MacDonnell during the week named 3rd, with Mitchell, Tom Edwards and Jake Blackwell rounding out the home sides best. Kongorong hosted Nangwarry in their Anzac Match for the John Rogers Medal. Nangwarry is star ng to gel as a team and it was clear from the outset that if Kongorong were to win, they were going to have to earn it. Both sides had six scoring shots in the first quarter, the difference being accuracy with Kongorong leading 4-2 to 2-4 at the break. Kongorong applied a li le more defensive pressure in the second quarter restric ng Nangwarry to just 1-1 whilst boo ng home another 4 goals to lead at the long break by 33pts. The 3rd quarter is where a lot of games are won or lost, and unfortunately for Nangwarry it was again the la er. They could only find the big s cks twice during the third term whilst Kongorong were a model of consistency adding a further 5 goals to extend their lead to 55pts heading into the last. Nangwarry were able to get reward for effort in the last kicking 4 goals in a high scoring quarter which saw Kongorong boot home 6. Big gun recruit Cam Sandercock earnt the big bucks boo ng 10 for the home side, with Ma Weistra heading home a happy chappy with another BOG performance. Good to see the brothers Cordy, Brad and Ma contribute to Kongorong's win with Ma kicking 2 goals and Brad also on the goal kickers list with 1 and picking up 3rd best. Young Don Pochec-Gordon played his best game for the Hawks contribu ng to the scoreboard and ge ng the nod with 4th best. Nangwarry's Jake McKeon con nued his good form ge ng the nod as the Saints best, followed by big George McWaters who is star ng to hit his straps in the ruck. Other be er players for Nangwarry went the way of Joel Virtanen, Isaac Raymond, Brodie Arundell and coach Luke Thomson. As for goal kickers, Craig Lock proved a handy inclusion kicking two goals for the match. With clear skies and warm weather, Mother Nature did her bit for the Robe 2 Recovery Anzac Day blockbuster between Robe and Hatherleigh. The huge crowd were treated to a solemn Anzac Commemora ve Service before the A Grade match which featured the mounted light horse brigade, bagpipes, Na onal Anthems and skydivers. The stage certainly was set for a great game. Robe won the toss and kicked with a slight wind advantage opening up a 17pt lead at the first break. Hatherleigh bounced back in the second but were inaccurate in front of goal scoring 2-6 and scores were level at the long break. Robe dominated the third quarter, but kicking goals was easier said than done as they too found the big s cks hard to find, pos ng 48, but on the plus side restricted Hatherleigh to just 2pts for the term. Even with a strengthening tail wind in the last term, Hatherleigh couldn't close the gap with both sides kicking 3 goals each for the quarter. Riley Dickenson finished the day with 4 goals with Zac Deane, Jack Kelly and newcomer Brodie Foulds all kicking 2. Mul ple goal kickers for Hatherleigh were a scarce commodity, Brad Wight's 2 goals heading up the Eagles goal

kicking list. The David Miller Anzac Medal was awarded to Tom Williams of Robe. Overall, a great day of football and well done to the community of Robe for staging a great weekend where we honour, remember and give thanks to the men and women who have served our na on in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping opera ons. To this weeks round of matches and a couple of games here that will definitely give an indica on of how teams are travelling this early in the season. We might start with the easier games and leave the juicy bits to the end! Tantanoola host Kalangadoo and unfortunately for the Tigers it will be the Kdoo boys who will come away with the win. If Kdoo can dispose of a poten al top four side in Mount Burr to the tune of 10+ goals it might be a long day at the office for the Tantanoola defenders. Their only saving grace might be the weather, but having just checked that we might have our driest and warmest day since the start of the season and the good fast condi ons won't assist Tantanoola in slowing their opposi on down. Kalangadoo will just be too quick around the big Tant ground. Tantanoola matched Glencoe last week in the first quarter, but then fell away big me to allow their opposi on to dictate terms. Consistency needs to be their friend as they have plenty of talent, but playing four quarters of footy needs to be their goal. Glencoe head to Nangwarry and although I expect the visitors to come away with the win, it won't be as easy as they think. If Glencoe come to the game with the wrong mindset or feel they can rest players, then they might just find themselves in trouble. Glencoe have definitely struggled up forward in the first 3 rounds and with Nangwarry star ng to play some good passages of footy and their game plan under new coach Luke Thomson beginning to pay dividends, Glencoe won't have it all their own way. However, Glencoe do have match winners right across the ground, which I don't think Nangwarry can match, but then stranger things have happened. Hatherleigh play host to Kongorong and the home side will be bi erly disappoin ng with last week's effort against Robe. The game was there for the taking at half me and couldn't deliver and no doubt coach Jake Dowdy will be looking for a four-quarter effort today. We will also get an indica on of where Kongorong are at. Can their big-name recruits perform on the big stage? For me, the likes of Weistra and Sandercock might be able to match Hatherleigh, but that's where it stops. Hatherleigh will control the football across their big paddock and use the space to their advantage and like Mount Burr in the opening round, will run Kongorong off their feet. In todays final match Port MacDonnell fresh off the bye will visit the picturesque Mick & Jean Walker Oval at Mount Burr. Mount Burr will again be without some key posi on players so I would expect Port MacDonnell to make the most of their absence and might just be in front at the final siren. The ruck contest between Daron 'Roo' McElroy and youngster Josh Murphy will be a highlight as both have been in good form of late. Mount Burr's lack of depth may be their undoing, whilst for Port MacDonnell they have players hanging off the ra ers to get a senior game. Mount Burr's younger brigade play a fearless brand of footy so a win for the home side wouldn't surprise.

B Grade: Hello everyone, another tough day against Glencoe unfortunately for our lads we were severely undermanned again only just be able to field a side and several players playing through injuries just to keep a team on the park. Really proud of everyone who played. Best players were Ellis Cushion followed by Ha y, Pidge, Chaps and Spoggy. A Grade: G'day everyone. Last week the boys took on Glencoe away, the rain came and went, which changed the game quarter by quarter. The boys held strong most the game and missed a couple opportuni es and by games end let Glencoe run away with the win. Best players were in no order Adam Hunter, Chris Oliver, Jack Dawe, Roy Osborne and Braydn Reilly.

TANTANOOLA KALANGADOO

Round 3 saw us host Mount Burr, a perfect opportunity to showcase our new facili es. I would like to acknowledge the effort put in by the Community Club, Building Commi ee and our wonderful sponsors and volunteers. Without your contribu on Saturday wouldn't have been as big and as successful as it was. The clubrooms were perfect, with many opposi on supporters commen ng on how amazing they are. The new and improved digital honour board was a huge success, thanks to Crouchman who spent 8 months relessly colla ng informa on and records. Minis: Under 11s had a club record 35 kids out on the oval Saturday morning! It is really star ng to take off. Now in its 3rd year we are already seeing the benefits of our junior program. There are so many new and excited faces at the club. Keep working hard Blomy, Tys and Boxy! Junior Colts: Unfortunately for the under 14s Mount Burr did not have the required amount of kids for a game, resul ng in a forfeit. Both sides played a 'scratchy' with 13 players each. Kalangadoo were very undersized and I must thank Mount Burr with their sportsmanship helping our younger kids get in the right posi ons and allowing them to kick a few goals.

will to keep pushing right to the end! B Grade: Tys and Pra y can breath a sigh of relief, a er the Round 2 effort against an impressive Port Mac, the Bazzas ran out victors by 97 points against a young Mount Burr. Cult figure Al Lyon made his Ressies debut, kicking 2 goals in a dominant display at centre half forward. Big Ouse kicked 6 goals at full forward, pushing his case to be promoted to the 1s. A Grade: Both Kalangadoo and Mount Burr stood for a minutes silence to pay respect to the ANZAC's. Followed by the official unveiling of the 2019 premiership flag. Sav held his nerves in the moment and hoisted it up for all to see. Mount Burr got a quick jump on Kdoo, kicking 3 out of the first 4 goals of the game. Kalangadoo pegged them back in the first half to walk into half me 6 goals up. The second half opened up a lot, goals flowed in regular intervals. Our pressure across the ground and in our defensive half has been a real showcase in the first 2 games. Benny kicked 4, Kriegs and Tommy Searle kicked 3 each. This week sees us travel to Tantanoola, hopefully we can con nue our strong start to the season across the 4 grades. Go Maggies!

Senior Colts: Under 17s played an impressive brand of footy last week. The game was ghtly contested, with Mount Burr kicking away in the 2nd half. Coach Timmy was impressed with the boys a tude and their

NANGWARRY GLENCOE

Last week we headed to Kongorong for the ANZAC Day clash, whilst we did not get any wins it was great to see improvements across all the grades. It was also great to hear the supporters be able to cheer as the A Grade put in a concerted effort. This week Mick Mullan and his crew got a start on the rebuild, so hopefully moving forward we will see the club start to take shape. This week a er the A Grade we will head across to the community hall for club teas catered by Mandy's Shack. Following teas is the Reverse song theme Rubik's cube, there may s ll be a few songs le so catch up with Tamara to give yourself a chance to win some CASH! Round 3 sponsors are major sponsor South East Conveyors and pla num Gilbert Plastering. The Nangwarry Netball and Football Club are extremely excited to have South East Conveyors jump on board in season 2021 as a major sponsor. We also are looking forward to working with Gilbert’s Plastering during the rebuild. Remember to support those who support us in 2021! Under 11: Kids played well again last weekend. Despite slippery condi ons some good ball movement and marking was on display. Junior Colts: We headed down to the Hawk's nest to what looked to be a wet and slippery day. The boys went into the game confident and put up a great fight with some good passages of play but unfortunately did not get the win. The backline fought hard all day and held off a great Kongorong side. We regrouped at 1/4 me and went back out and really put it to the young Hawks figh ng back well with Archer kicking a goal on the run. We seem to lose momentum in the third and fourth with our second quarter being our best for the day. We put a lot of good plays together over the day but just never seem to get the reward at the end of the hard work. The boys in the middle played well with some good clearances. Each week we seem to be ge ng be er and be er with our ball skills with just some finer points to work out on the training track this week hopefully we can come out firing against Glencoe next week. Best players were Archer, Noah, Harry, Calais, Riley and Ta. Senior Colts: As noted last week another strong challenge came before us Saturday. I was thoroughly

2nd qtr

3rd qtr

impressed with our opening 10 minutes of the match which saw us in front while withstanding a lot of pressure from the Kongorong midfielders. Unfortunately, the dam burst, and Kongorong were able to pile on the goals undoing some of our great work. In the end it came across as though we had stopped trying! I can fully understand and can cop losing to a be er team, but I don't stand for giving up! I would also like to thank opposi on sides thus far for giving us a couple of players each quarter or halves when it needed. It is greatly appreciated but I do find it amusing that when handing over 3 players they all happen to be Junior Colts while the opposi on keep all their Senior Colts even when being over 100 points in front! Best players were Jacob Schmi , Ty Dinnison, Jye Whitehouse, Archer Virtanen, Mitchell Adam and James Baggio. B Grade: A be er performance from the boys Saturday against an undefeated Kongorong. I felt there were chunks of minutes in quarters that we had the play, but sloppy turnovers and fitness meant we could not sustain the efforts needed to make it more compe ve. Ty Dinnison was outstanding and put his name in conten on to play in the 1s. Jordan Hagge tried all day in the middle, past premiership player Ma y Copping s ll had the silky skills down back and played well. Chappo and Marcus Thomson had plenty of clearances and Chris Bonney rounded out our be er players with special men on to Josh Mills kicking our first goal for the year. Let's build on that and have a be er performance against the Murphy's. A Grade: ANZAC Day round was the round we finally hit our straps, put everything together and hit the scoreboard. In what would be the biggest occasion outside of finals we came to play, and we were right in the game at half me even a er a bit of a lapse in the second when they kicked away. Unfortunately for the second week in a row we had no bench from half me, but the boys fought hard physically and mentally, and we finished the game strong. There is obviously s ll plenty of room for improvement but the signs we showed against Kongorong are very promising. I thought we played a very wellrounded team game with the under 17 boys stepping up and showing some really good signs. Cheers LT

NANGWARRY GLENCOE

Last Saturday saw us at home once again for Round 3 tackling the Tantanoola Tigers, and by the end of the day it was great to see every footy team now has a 'W' next to their name. The day's games were played out in less than ideal condi ons with a fair bit of moisture finding its way into the games but nothing too drama c compared to what we will see in the middle of winter. Junior Colts: The Junior Colts once again got the day off to a great start with a victory over a very persistent and compe ve Tant ou it. Both teams played some hard and impressive footy considering the condi ons, with the sides ed at 14 points apiece at half me. Unfortunately for the Tiger Cubs they were only able to add a further two points to their tally while the Murphies added a further 25 points to run out victors by 23 points. Kaleb Price was impressive boo ng 4 goals for the morning, earning himself best player honours, while Kallan Price couldn't let his big brother have all the accolades, slo ng himself in for the third best award. Hamish Gordon is proving to be a very handy addi on to the team, featuring in the best players each week, once again playing four quarters of consistent footy to be named second best. Rounding out the best players were some more familiar names with Lachlan Brierly, Sammy Haase and Kade Mulraney ge ng the nod from coach Rang. Keep up the good team footy lads and ladies! Senior Colts: The Senior Colts last minute heroics from the previous week couldn't be replicated last Saturday, going down by a single kick in the last quarter. In an entertaining affair with a number of lead changes throughout the game, a persistent and determined Tant side was able to produce a 3 goal last quarter to edge out the Murphy lads. Guillaume Ros-Smith con nued his consistent start to the season, giving everything un l the final siren to take out first best honours. Isaiah McGrath played his best game for the year so far to feature at second best while Darcy Williamson worked relessly over four quarters to take out third best for the day. Ben Weedon played his regular brand of tough footy to also con nue his good form to take fourth best while Byron Tentye featured at fi h best in what was also his best game for the year. A er suffering their first loss for the year, hopefully the lads realise they are definitely around the mark this year, and with a lot of hard work and some hard, disciplined footy, they can make a mark on the compe on this year. Reserves: Buoyed by their victory the previous week, the Reserves added to their win tally with a good victory over the Tantanoola side. The scene was set early with a quality, well roved goal from Hughesy, with the side luckily taking inspira on from this play rather than Parrot's chest mark, or lack thereof, in front of the a en ve crowd outside the changerooms. From this moment the Murphies Ressies took a commanding 22 point lead which the Tant lads couldn't recover from, eventually falling behind by 41 points by the final siren. Both sides gave it their all and ba led it out un l the final siren, with the fa gue well and truly se ng in by the fourth quarter with only 9 points added to the overall tally during this term. Hughesy is on an absolute tear through the first 3 games, earning best player for his run and drive across half back and through the middle, while Wi a in his first game as playing coach provided leadership and grunt through the middle to earn second best. Easter has con nued where he le off in 2019 being a consistent ball winner all over the ground and relishing his role as Skip to appear at third best, while The Fish was naturally at home in wet condi ons being a brick wall across half back and showing fantas c tackling

2nd qtr

3rd qtr

pressure and ground skills in a solid display to feature at fourth. Nick Cory showed that his presence on the ground is as strong as his presence in the Ressies group chat, while Chicko Finnis tro ed out onto the ground for the first me this season to play a solid game to feature at sixth. Well done lads, let's keep that winning feeling. A Grade: There would have been a lot of smiles, celebra on and relief at the annual 'Shuffle Night' a er the A Grade boys were able to post their first win for the year. A er a solid effort in round 1, then a disappoin ng loss in Round 2, it was definitely a 'must win' game to get the season on track. From the outset it was pre y clear that the Tant side had come to play ball and were going to take it right up to the home side. A er a ghtly contested first half, the Murphies entered the changerooms with a 21 point lead, but both sides probably feeling they wasted opportuni es in front of goal with the Murphies kicking 5 goals 11 behinds while Tant managed 2 goals but 8 behinds. A er half me and another of Frazer's clear summaies of the game so far and the goals of the second half ahead, the Murphies took charge of the game and outscored the Tigers comfortably in the second half to run out 77 point winners. Hopefully everyone had Dylan Childs in their Supercoach team last week, with Gecks kicking an impressive 5 goals for the day while once again loading up on possessions all over the ground. Hopefully the leather poisoning isn't too bad and Gecks can suit up again today. It was great to have 'The Barometer' back in the side a er a mini vay-cay in Round 2 to the big smoke, and Packet put in a huge effort to earn 2nd best in another explosive performance. Even more pleasing was seeing Brodie Glynn play a superb first up game in the maroon and gold, accumula ng stats across the middle of the ground and giving the forwards plenty of opportuni es to affect the scoreboard. Welcome aboard Brodie. Pa y Mitchell con nued his stellar year to date so far with another appearance in the best players while it is fantas c to see Tom Edward's name in at 5th best. Tommy has put in a lot of hard work to get back to playing footy a er persistent back issues, and a er a solid first up against Mt Burr with a few goals, he was able to build on that effort to take his game to another level last week. Rounding out the best players was Jake Blackwell, who has been a great pick up this year, and is obviously thriving on the persistent, posi ve feedback from Easter both in person, and from the stubby booth. Although not featuring in the best, men ons must go to Big Sauce Hentschke who con nues to put scores on the board for the team and work relessly across half forward, and it was also fantas c to see one M. McRae back on the scoresheet for the Murphies again. Before I sign off, it was brought to my a en on that some Mount Burr supporters were offended or upset by misinterpre ng some of my notes from last week. I do apologise if any from The Burr were upset from my notes, that is not the inten on of what I write, but I want to be clear, I would never inten onally make light of an injury. Without ge ng too far into the weeds about what the commentary meant etc. I think it's more fi ng to wish the player a speedy recovery, and hope that the passionate Mount Burr supporters can accept my apology and con nue to enjoy reading the Murphy notes. That being said, today it is over to Nangwarry where we can hopefully build upon the momentum from last week, with the goal being to pick up 4 wins in the footy for the first me this year. Best of luck to all teams. Go Murphies!

HATHERLEIGH KONGORONG

Under 11: Early morning start for the U11s down at Robe for our second game of the season. We were greeted with a beau ful morning at Robe on a playing surface resembling a bowls green! With good numbers again making the trip we were able to mix in with the Robe kids for a great game. The skills on show from both teams were awesome to watch and already early in the year the kids are all listening and pu ng what we are prac cing at training in to the Saturday games. Pleasing to see the kids all sizes ge ng amongst the play showing great courage at the same me. Award winners for the day were: $10 Dentons Sportspower award - Reef Chambers who had a great day out almost as if he had a magnet with him a rac ng the ball. He was everywhere and showed some silky skills at the same me proving hard to tackle with his evasiveness. HFC $5 award - Raff Lawler in his first year of U11s is not at all worried about ge ng in and under. Raff reads the play well with a highlight of the day playing on from a mark in the forward line kicking for goal unfortunately though finding the tallest Robe player right on the line denying him the 6 pts. Ladies Commi ee award - Mason Taylor is absolutely loving his Saturday games he con nues me and me again pu ng his body on the line. Almost the smallest player on the field he found a heap of the ball either through the middle down back or up forward. McDonalds award - Sam Lang another first year player love's ge ng in and ba ng against the bigger kids. Sam gathered a number of possessions and looks each me to use the ball finding his teammates Junior Colts: We headed up to Robe expec ng a tough game. It was a ght tussle all day with a good 3rd quarter se ng up the win in the end. Charlie Sims was in and under all day and best on ground, Ollie Fitz was everywhere giving plenty of drive. Riley Prouse a acked the ball all day and Brayden Chambers gave everything. Ethan Marshall

had a great game as well with lots of second efforts and Hudson Nowak chipped in with 4 goals. Senior Colts: It was going to be a tough task taking on the ladder leaders, but the boys were op mis c. Robe started with a bang, but the boys se led and took it to them in the 3rd quarter and ghtened. In the end Robe ran out easy victors. Joel Smith was best on ground, never giving up and taking on everything. Danny Golding had a solid game in defence, repelling lots of Robe's forward entries. Ethan Bowman, Je Faulkner and Paddy Chay all gave plenty in the midfield all day to round out the best players. Reserves: We were greeted by sunshine down at Robe in the ANZAC clash. Heading into a decent breeze in the first quarter, our backline held up well to keep Robe goalless, while kicking one goal ourselves. With the wind in the second quarter we were able to take control of the game, kicking 4 goals to zip. A er that we were able to hold them off to take a 5 goal win. Best players: Reidy, Raysa, Lachie Lang, Max and Reggie. Altschy and Max kicking 3 snags each to lead the way up forward. A Grade: We ventured down to Robe for a huge ANZAC round clash, it was clear right from the start that Robe were going to bring the pressure, the footy was hot and Robe took the lead into the first quarter. We responded well in the 2nd but missed opportuni es saw us head into the main break even instead of having a handy lead. Robe li ed in the 3rd and brought more pressure which resulted in us turning the football over. Robe made the most of it and took in a 5 goal lead at 3qrt me. The last quarter was a stalemate with both us and Robe scoring 3 goals each. Robe ended up winning by 30 points. Jack Skeer, Will Chay and Michael Telford were among the best players on the day for us. This week we will regroup, work on a few things and take on Kongorong at our home ground.

HATHERLEIGH KONGORONG

Last week we hosted Nangwarry for the ANZAC Day Round, and we welcomed members of the RSL and the Rogers Family, to honour Private John Rogers and award a Medal in his honour. Thank you to everyone in a endance on the day, who stood silently during the Last Post, minute silence, reading of the Ode and the singing of the Na onal Anthem by Mel Whi y. Thank you to the children and Principal from Kongorong Primary School for making and decora ng the Memorial Gates with red poppies. A very successful day for the Club, winning four from four in the football, and a number of netball games also. Congratula ons to John Simkin on playing his 250th Senior Game for Kongorong. Minis: It was great to have Nangwarry come over for a game. They only had a few kids but they were good and it was great for our kids to get a good compe ve game. Thanks go out to all the Kongorong kids that took turns playing for the opposi on, it gives everyone more game me, and with big numbers, works well for all. The usual suspects Koby G and Noah VSD played well, Sammy tackled hard as always, and Jimmy just needs to realise how big he is! A special men on to Tyler, saving a goal on the goal line. Thanks again Nangwarry, and good luck this week. Junior Colts: A er a tough game against Tant the week before it was good to be back on home soil, as we welcomed the Saints for the ANZAC round clash. With a few s ll away, and a few back from holidays, we haven't been able to get the full squad on the park, but the next few weeks should see the young Hawks nearly back to full strength. The Saints jumped us straight out of the blocks, registering the 1st goal in no me, but from there we managed a couple of our own, to finish the 1st quarter a couple of goals up. In what were pre y slippery condi ons at mes, we managed to have plenty of the ball for the remainder of the game, to be able to pull away from a very determined Saints and start the day with a win for the club. Best players again weren't easy to choose, as could have went to many different players, but Bam Kent took away the Swallow Drive Meats Award for best on ground. He was very closely followed by Ryan Angelino, who is se ng himself nicely on the wing for the Rocks Shop Award. New to the club this year with a haircut to match, and is star ng to find his feet and playing some good running football Rhys Newton took home the Rocks Tavern Award. Deagan Bogie, another new player to the club, is developing each week and took home the Mick Mullan Encouragement Award. Coaches Award was a tough one to pick but for his run and endeavour for the 4 quarters on the wing went to Jacob Gordon. Rounding out the best players in his 1st year in U14s and managing a goal, a young fella who will find plenty of the ball this year and will be exci ng to watch him grow is Ryan Lucas. A tough one next up, as we head down the road to one of the

2nd qtr

3rd qtr

toughest games in footy, as we take on the Eagles on their home ground. Go Hawks! Senior Colts: We took on an undermanned Nangwarry side, so thanks to our fellas that helped make up the numbers for the opposi on. It turned out quite a one-sided game, with plenty of run, and some good overhead marking, giving the forwards plenty of opportuni es in front of the goals. In his best game of the year, Campbell Graney was named first best. Jake Carrigan put in another consistent performance to get second best, closely followed by Will Von Stanke whose agility in and around the contest was a stand-out. Maverick Cooper put in a solid effort for fourth best, and Tommy Bellinger played an unselfish game in front of goals, sharing the ball around, for fi h best. Riley 'red boots' Maconachie's consistent effort got him named sixth best. We need to keep the pressure on this week against Hatherleigh, let's hope we can bring home another win. Reserves: A solid victory against Nangwarry last week, with a 111 point win at the final siren. Ryan Vickery was in good form to be named first best, Tyson Modra second, and will be a huge loss when he heads off around Australia in the coming weeks. Wil 'with one L' McKenry performed well to come in at third best, Ma y Maidment and Callum Wagstaffe following closely behind. Jack Mullan hi ng good form to be named in sixth. To take on Hatherleigh this week we need to put into prac ce what we go through at training, and play as a team. Seniors: Last Saturday saw us tackle a determined Nangwarry ou it. In our ANZAC match tradi on, we began the day with the ceremony, and coin toss by Don Rogers, with 250 game player John Simkin stepping in to assist. The game was closely contested in the first half, but the boys ground away in the second half, eventually running out winners by some 70-odd points. Our best player was Ma Weistra a er yet another solid performance. Private John Rogers Medallist Cameron Sandercock, with his 10 goal haul, was second best. Brad Cordy led from the front and earnt third best, with Aaron Lightbody's strong work ethic in the backline ge ng him named in fourth. Rounding out the best players was captain Bryn Weaver, finding good form, as he gets some more game me under his belt. Today we take on Hatherleigh on their home turf, always a tough challenge, so we need to keep our minds on the job for four full quarters. Reminder to get your Coola Cup ckets from Brad Long or Emily Lightbody, or the bar. Momentum is gathering so don't be the one to miss out! $20/ cket, plus $10 for the bus. Horses are being auc oned Thursday and Saturday nights, so buy a horse, book a jockey, and cross your fingers! Presenta ons and teas are back at the Commercial Hotel tonight, so get along and support one of our very valued sponsors.

MOUNT BURR PORT MACDONNELL

The trip down the road to Kalangadoo where we saw the junior teams come out in front but the senior teams were beaten by be er teams on the day. In the A Grade we played for the Harry Bo Shield where they won back the shield. It’s great to see so many people back out watching and suppor ng the football and netball, also thanks to Gail and Sonya for their pics each week check them out on our Facebook. Upcoming events Miss Mount Burr May 15th should be a great night, also see Simone Westerman to purchase a lucky square to win $150 drawn at the Miss Mount Burr night. Junior Colts: Last week we came up against Kalangadoo and unfortunately with a few boys away we were low on numbers and had to forfeit the game, but the boys never gave up and come out strong and got a good win on the scoreboard. It was really pleasing to see the sportsmanship from both teams. We’d like to thank Kalangadoo for lending us a player and it was a good game to watch. Charlie Bevan led by example, Rylan McKay was strong up forward and Gavin who filled in for us had an impressive game. Everyone had a fair share of the ball so it was hard to pick the best. We look forward to this week and ge ng a few numbers back and having a good run. Cheers Tom. Senior Colts: Last week the Senior Colts had a great win against an undermanned Doo side who showed a lot of despera on. We had four players fill in each quarter for 2nd qtr

3rd qtr

Kalangadoo and they all represented the club well in a great show of sportsmanship. Our boys are star ng to click together running in numbers all day and finishing the game off strong. Best players were Charlie Bevan playing way beyond his age with great rebound. Johnny Wimshurst a acking the ball hard all day. Kallan Bevan showing great skills and is maturing a lot as a player and never gives up. Lachlan Alcock found plenty of space and supported the younger ones like a great leader should. Jayden Poulish in his second game for the club was very strong in defence. Trey Norton Li le got plenty of hard ball sending the ball into a ack all game. Thanks to my team manager Fiona who does a brilliant job for us. Also to anyone who helps out we really appreciate it. Big game this week - hopefully another win. A Grade: Saturday saw us travel to Kalangadoo for another big challenge. Hats off to K’Doo they’re a strong unit and play well together. We were able to get a good start in the first quarter to put the scoreboard pressure on early but from there Kalangadoo started to make the most of their opportuni es and take control. Was a good learning point for our boys and really looking forward to playing them again in the second round. Best players were S. Wallis, T. Allen, Jim Wallis, Josh Wallis, J. Muhovics and B. Sco . On to Pt Mac this weekend for another big test, all the best to all grades. Go Burr.

MOUNT BURR PORT MACDONNELL

Junior Colts: We started the first quarter okay, and were up by a point. However our second quarter saw us take the foot off the pedal and allow K'doo to kick five unanswered goals. At half me I asked the boys for more effort as we were allowing our opposi on to run around and do as they pleased. To the boys credit they put in a much be er effort for the second half and were able to out score them three goals to two. It just goes to show that if we put in the effort then the rewards will come our way. Best players were first Kai Gilmore who also kicked three goals, second Jacob Spehr who worked hard both in the ruck and up forward. Third Je Lewis who found plenty of the ball in the middle. Fourth Zane Lewis, in his first game for the club was in and under and laid some terrific tackles. Fi h was Casey Wilson who fought hard in the ruck and presented well all over the ground. Sixth Tyler Neale who found plenty of the ball and ran hard to get from contest to contest. This week against Mount Burr let’s put in the effort over four quarters and keep on improving as we have been. B Grade: A er a good win in the first round against Glencoe, we then had our next challenge in our first home game against Kalangadoo. As is normal in B Grade football there was a few changes through injuries to both A and B Grades and as we are blessed currently to have a few numbers available to the coaching staff. The game itself was to be an honest ended up being a one-sided affair to fair, this is meant to be no disrespect to Kalangadoo as they looked to be a li le short of players currently but s ll, they have many of the good players that had made them final contenders in previous years, and I am sure when we make the return trip in the next round they will be up and running and dangerous. Best for the week was Lochie Tilley who is in great nick a er a year off, he was so fresh and fit last week that he ended up running the boundary for the A Grade, second best was Rhys Timms who has come back to the club a er a few years away and is in great form, third best was Liam Bo omley and another player that is fit and firing a er also doing the boundary umpiring last week, must be something in running the boundary a er a game, fourth best was Jacob

2nd qtr

3rd qtr

Langdon who played his first game for the year, fi h best was the veteran Ben O'Dine who is ageing like fine wine, sixth best was the captain Damien O'Dine who is also ageing like wine but might be closer to cask wine though. A er the bye we head on the road to take Mt Burr, which is always an entertaining clash, a er a good start to the year let's hope the good form con nues. A Grade: A er a tough win in round 1 against Glencoe we hosted the previous season’s premiers Kalangadoo, the only MSE side to compete in the "Super League" last year during the COVID break. Like most years you start with a side and eventually it gets eroded with injuries and the like. This season has been no different as we were already missing a few from pre-season injuries and then to make things worse we have also lost, with a what looks for season Alex Moore in the first game, we wish Alex all the best for his recovery. The game itself was a highly entertaining affair, being a reasonably good day with only a couple of showers earlier in the day, the ball pinged around showing all the skills that the local game has to offer. A er holding a slender lead throughout the first half, things looked pre y good from a Pt Mac perspec ve, however Kalangadoo were ge ng plenty of looks at goal but were a li le inaccurate and no doubt they could con nue to charge in the second half and that they did, as in the third term Kalangadoo grabbed the lead and even though we threw the kitchen sink at Kalangadoo they were too good and held on for a well-earned victory by 9 points. Best player for the week was Tim Sullivan who has returned to the club a er a few years away, second best was Daron McElroy who looks set for a big season with 2 big games already, third best was Kevin Thomson who has been a great asset both on and off the field, fourth best was Wade Chant in his first A Grade game of the year, fi h best was Dylan Bromley another returnee who had a great start, sixth best was Blake Lynch in his first A Grade game of the year. This week we head off to Mt Burr for an important game. Mt Burr have had a good start to the year and they will be looking to con nue their early season form and it is just important for us to return to the wining list.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Saturday saw us meet a much taller, quicker and experienced Glencoe J2 side. However this didn't deter them and they went out and tried their hardest and had fun. They are all ge ng more and more confident each week. The sun was out for most of the game, however in the last quarter they got to experience winter netball with it absolutely pouring! It did not faze them and they all stuck it out! Awards went to Pippa (Maccas) for always giving 100% at every posi on and to Shelbi (Hungry Jacks) for some great intercepts. A special men on to young Neveah for listening and doing exactly what we have been prac sing at training in the goal ring, brilliant job! Junior 1: Well done to all the J1 girls, the weather made this game such a challenge, but we never gave up! In the centre and mid court Jaycee, Renae Isabella and Summer were quick and made some strong leads to the ball. Our defence line in Emie, Tameka and Peyton showed great teamwork and resulted in many turnovers. Overall it was a great effort girls. Isabella Weir received the encouragement award from Wa le Range Trading for her posi ve a tude and good sportsmanship. 13 & Under: Another loss for the girls however it is incredible how much they are improving each game. So win or lose you should be proud of your achievements as you are all giving it your absolute best. The girls’ confidence is growing so much every game, being able to get intercepts, chase loose balls and make strong leads. Defence was a highlight of the game as the girls stayed ght on their players which put pressure on Glencoe, however we need to make sure we are three feet before pu ng our hands up to defend. At training we will be focusing on the rules of netball so the game flows a bit more quickly, however the girls will pick this up the more they play. Well done girls on another great game. Awards went to Ebony Gardin and Zali Riley for their excellent defence. 15 & Under: A much be er start last week leading at quarter me. Second quarter seen us adjust to the rain. Our defence and pressure all over court was great turning over many balls. Demi and Eb worked well in goals while Holly and Molly played a nice ght defence. Even know we made changes at half me our third quarter was the most se led and controlled so well done to all. Best players Ebony Cytrowski and Molly Cushion. Ducky's Award - Lailah Riley, Acky's Deli Awards - Kailah Gledhill and Ebony Cytrowski. 17 & Under: Well a er a very slow, scrappy start and some posi on changes at quarter me, it was a much be er 2nd quarter. We needed to adapt to the wet condi ons and change our game, which Glencoe was able to do much earlier in the game. They wanted the game much

NETball club notes more than we did in the end and it showed on the scoreboard. S ll plenty to work on at trainings, so let's come to training ready to put in the hard work. Madi and Charlo e were accurate in goals and Ella and Tayla worked relessly in defence to get their hands to plenty of the ball, we just couldn't seem to covert it down the court. McDonalds and Hungry Jacks awards went to Ella and Madi. B Reserve: We came up against a strong Glencoe team who made us work hard all the way down the court. Our defence and pressure was great, we now have to work on scoring off these turnovers. Darcy going down with an injury saw Tayne thrown into the deep end in GD, she took this in her stride and her and Kim worked relessly in defence, turning over lots of balls. A ack had some great passages of play, now we have to work on se ling a bit earlier and not forcing the pass in. Best players were Emily Jennings (Caltex award) and Kim Ballintyne. B Grade: Our first loss for the season at the hands of a strong Glencoe team that look like they will be one of the teams to beat. We played well but to be one of the top teams we need to be consistent for the whole 4 quarters which is what we did well the first 2 games. However, there were plenty of posi ves to come out of the game with some great passages of play and more to work on at training ready for another challenge this week against Kalangadoo. Let's keep our heads high, work hard as a team and come out firing. Bek took home the Caltex award and Kris e got herself a Somerset meal voucher. A Reserve: Another tough week! I think we are all aware by now that we can't con nue to have periods of inconsistency against strong teams. Our defensive netball is strong and the turnovers are massive, we just need to focus on conver ng off those. I thought Larns, you had a fantas c game! I gave you a job to do early on and you stepped up and did it! There were again great posi ves to take away, Em I thought you had a really strong game! It's two games now with losses under ten; they're most certainly winnable games, we just need to ensure that we play our game! We really need to some together now, work hard at training and look to next week! A Grade: Not the outcome we hoped for but we can take a lot of posi ves out of the game. We had many good patches throughout the game but also patches that our intensity dropped off. Lots of things to take from the game to work on at training and I think we do well at that. Vic had a consistent game through the mid court and Em had a strong game in goals. Let's work hard this week and get back on the winning list girls. Vic took out the Somerset voucher and Em took home a Sassi voucher.

We would like to thank Mt Burr for being involved in the Val Li le Memorial that we held on Saturday. A massive thank you to Karen Cunningham for organising and for speaking such beau ful words about our beloved Val. She will be greatly missed by all. Junior 1: Great game girls, everyone worked hard all game with some fantas c passages of play. For the second game of the season we have lots of poten al and girls that work hard. With con nued trainings we have a great year to look forward to. Junior 2: Thank you Mt Burr J2 for the extra quarters - so much appreciated and the girls loved it. We all need to listen and look forward to get an easier pass down the court and not to bunch up. There was spots of play that worked well. The best players awards went to Pippa Goldsworthy (Fasta Pasta), Milla Lennon (Paradise Pizza), Dekota Reddan (Bakers Delight), Heidi Scholz and Grace Mulligan (DKs Coffee) for trying their best, even in the rain. Let’s keep training and trying new posi ons. 13 & Under: Kdoo 63 - Mt Burr 9. A pleasing display of each player playing to their posi ons. And there were plenty of changes to test them out! Maya had a top game, reading the ball well to receive the Athlete's Foot Award; Alice (Copenhagen Award) finished her good game with some fine shoo ng in goals; Lucy performed well in every posi on tried while Ma lda showed that concentra on can overcome any footwork/passing mistakes. Keira (DK Cruizin Coffee Award) con nues her journey into netball and is set for more court me. 15 & Under: Kdoo 28 - Mt Burr 33. Despite missing players, having loads of posi onal changes, and knowing four or five were required to play again in 17s and 13s this team did an outstanding job. Chloe's excellent game earned her the Athlete's Food Award, Tegan con nued her impressive shoo ng and moving for the ball to receive Pizza Award while Abby gave another solid performance. 17 & Under: Well done on another solid performance. Our defence was again reliable, and I was pleased with Emily's chat. Sophie W provided plenty of drive through the centre and Shelby was a pillar of strength in goals, pu ng in some ripper passes. The Athlete's Foot Award was given to Sophie Wrightson and Shelby Ryan received the Chelsea Feast Makeup Award. B Reserve: Kdoo 44 - Mt Burr 20. Another pleasing team game with consistent scoring in each quarter and keeping cool under pressure. Timing leads s ll needs a li le work

as does crea ng/using space in transi on down court. Abbey (Body Shop Award) played a top game, well supported by Deb (Sheltons Butchers Award) - these two are really star ng to get the hang of things together! F45 and K'doo Apple Farm awards to Bianca and Jodi. Thank you for si ng bench Maddy and Georgia. B Grade: Another great week from the girls and a convincing win. We came out firing and everyone adjusted from the few improvements from last week. Jess K did really well shoo ng with both Gina and Brianna. Our defenders con nue to get quick touches and plenty of pressure on to keep Mt Burr to a low score. The mid court were also fluent and transi oned well between both ends of the court. Jess Kilsby - Terry White, Jess Blackmore - Beauty by Re, Nicole Reeves - F45. A Reserve: Only two games in with the new team and it is great to see some combina ons working really well together. Schultz controlled the defensive end of the court and combined well with Re and Shan that forced lots of turnovers, while down the other end of the court Jaimee showed lots of composure as usual and fed well to Eb and Mads as well as shot beau fully when given the chance. Emmason ran hard when on the court, however when moved into WA played some very smart netball showing what she is capable of. Also special thanks to Shelbs who also ran hard through the middle, and Holly who hit the court for her first A Res game and who grew in confidence by the minute. Also massive thanks to the teams supporters. Especially Jo who is helping manage and do first aid for the team this year, and to Anthea and Jamie who although sidelined by injury helped on the sidelines. This week will be a lot tougher and give us a good indica on of where we are at this season so let’s all play the role we need to and together as a team an prove we are a force to be reckoned with this year. Pines Hotel Award - Kylie Schultz, Chelsea Feast Make-up Award - Emmason Ilsley, Kalangadoo Football Club Jaimee Ryan A Grade: We had a slow start to the game with a few errors across the court. Well done on increasing the intensity, applying plenty of pressure and running the game out strong. It was great that we were able to smoothly adjust to poten al changes. Congrats to Sophie on her first A Grade appearance. Thank you to Ebony and Shelby for your sideline support. Best players were Chelsea and Kori.

NETball club notes Last week we headed to Kongorong for the ANZAC Day clash. We were lacking some player numbers in grades because of unavailability and injuries, thanks to all that helped. Again, though we were very compe ve in all grades. We ended up with a couple of wins. 13U con nued their good form and won again. A er a long me since 2017, Nangwarry A Grade got their first win. An amazing achievement to all the girls and a posi ve for the club. Well done to all was a great team effort, let's keep it up. Also, a congratula ons to Hayley Burner who won the ANZAC Day Medal for BOC, she had a brilliant game running hard all day and her leadership on court li s all the players. Well done Hayley, we are so glad you made the move to Nangwarry a great asset to the development of our club. Nangwarry Netball Club would also like to thank major sponsor South East Conveyors for sponsoring us this season and pla num sponsors the Pines Hotel and Trident Tyre Centre for coming onboard again this season. This week we are at home against Glencoe, let's see us try and get a few more wins on the board. Go Saints. Junior 2: Again you all were amazing. Even the rain did not stop you all. All your confidence is improving every week and we are star ng to know where to go be er now. We all just need to remember to grab that ball in hard, so we do not drop it. When we play in defence, we are star ng to get the rebound when they miss which is great, we also must do it at the other end when we miss a goal. Great job to everyone though - well done. Best players: McDonalds - Hanna, Hungry Jacks - Asha. Junior 1: What a great game by everyone - you all played 100%. Once again great defence all down the court. Good to see you all pu ng your hands over the ball. Excellent to hear you using your voices down the court. Great shoo ng by Darcy, Lucy and James and good to see your ge ng the rebounds. Excellent drive in C by Ella and Paige and ge ng plenty of intercepts. Immy great work on ge ng the centre passes and reoffering. Summer great job on chasing the loose balls. Best players: Pines Hotel - Ella Clayfield, Nangwarry Servwell Immy. 13 & Under: Big thank you to Sharni, Ka e and Tahni for filling in. Great to have Ella play for us again too. All eight players did an amazing job and although was a scrappy game we did managed to improve each quarter. Canteen award went to Kaylee McNair for con nuing to improve each, listening, and trying her best to do what is asked. Rebounding is outstanding and even had a go in goals proving her flexibility. McDonald's award went to Madison Timms for her work ethic, never giving up and versatility of playing any posi on we need her in. Great game girls. We will need to con nue this form again stronger opposi on in the coming weeks. 15 & Under: An amazing game from every player on the court. The closest game we have had for the season. Stevie and I are so proud of our girls and the amazing passages of play and how well the team worked together. If we con nue to play how we played in the last part of the game, we will go far. Congratula ons to Kaitlin Roise er and Maddi Mitchell on ge ng our best

NETball club notes players. 17 & Under: Thanks heaps to the girls who filled in for us again last week. We were missing a couple of girls from our team which le us with no choice but to mix our team up. To start with this le us a bit unsteady and we were throwing away the ball but by the third quarter we Improved a lot, and we are coming in front more to get the ball. We had a few good passages throughout the game. Hold your heads high and come out and improve on the li le things because in me our game will improve more. We all need to talk more on the court and listen at quarter mes and training. Thanks heaps to our team manager/first aider Bec and scorer Ashlee and assistant Ellie. We do really appreciate the help because many hands make light work for us all. Best players: Alana - Fasta Pasta, Kaitlin - Hungry Jacks. B Reserve: Well we came out firing and even though they were just in front of us we kept in touch un l the final break which unfortunately we couldn't catch them. With another change to our team with Maddy Glynn stepping into GD like she had not missed any games bringing the ball up the court out of defence with Jayne Bonney suppor ng in the mid court and keeping the WA for Kongorong to minimal possession. With some rough play to contend with and some unfortunate passes. On a posi ve note we had some nice turnovers from mul ple players on court and some more nice feeding and conver ng in the goals. Best on court Jayne Bonney and with second best Amy Whitehouse - well done girls! B Grade: A er a slow start girls, we spent the next three quarters playing catch up. I just know if we can string together four strong quarters, we will be far more compe ve and show the rest of the compe on how strong we are. Meighan played an excellent game at goal shooter and held her ground, when the defence began to double team, this allowed Ella to shine and drive hard into the circle. Both girls were worthy of best on court performances. With a few injuries we welcomed Simone and Meagan who adjusted to the team and provided many opportuni es in the mid court. Best players and the Jen’s award went to Meighan and Ella. A Reserve: Definitely not a good day for us, we seemed a li le flat from the getgo. We started of not bad in the 1st and movement was great again, then we started to just pass the ball without thinking and tried to keep up to their pace. We need to remember to pass into the space to wear the girls are running and if you call you need to keep going. We do not need to run too much if we play smarter. Talking to each other makes a huge difference to our game we just all need to do that and encourage and be posi ve. A bad day for us, lets wipe it off and start again this week like the first 2 weeks. Best player: Fasta Pasta - Chrystal. A Grade: Wow what a game girls. We played amazing. Definitely no standout player, we all did our part - a great team effort. We now know we are capable of winning, let's just keep building from here and we will con nue to get be er every week. All the li le things will go with prac se. Awesome work. Best player: Athletes Foot - Carly.

Junior 2: Great game last week girls, everyone is leading to the ball and making space which makes everyone's job easier on and off the court. First best (Metalworx Award) went to Charlo e for outstanding improvement and applying everything we told her throughout the game. Second best went to Abbie for encouraging others and stepping up as a leader on the day. Keep up the good work girls, can't wait to see you all grow even more as awesome li le players. Junior 1: Another great week for the J1 girls especially in the wet condi ons. A couple of things to work on at training, but the girls are eager to learn and improve. Best (Eddie Kuhl Tyres Award) went to Isabella Brierley for great work at both ends of the court and encouragement went to Mackenzie. Keep up the great work girls, you all are amazing players! 13 & Under: 42-7. Well done girls great team effort. Great feeding and intercepts through the mid court by Shae. Ruby gave 100% in defence causing some great turnovers. Our stepping was a lot be er and control down the court by all was good. Great shoo ng by the 3 goalies and a big thanks to Kloe, Chloe and Mackenzie for filling in for us. Best player (Dycer Construc on Award) to Shae and second best to Ruby. 15 & Under: 16-27. Wet condi ons, making it difficult for both teams to adjust with their feet. Tantanoola u lised each turnover well with defence working hard to intercept and gain possession. Second half of the game driving down the court improved, stepping had improved and we outscored Tantanoola in the last quarter. Tantanoola taking out the win but great effort by both teams in wet condi ons. Best - Montana Biggins (Maloney Plumbing Award) and Tayliah Atchinson. 17 & Under: 31-18. Our first win of the season! What an amazing effort! Jorja Owen (McDonalds Award) stepped up from 15s and she and sister Chelsea (DeGaris Lawyers Award) combined amazingly well in defence, keeping Tant’s goals down all game and both taking some great intercepts. Montanna Biggins (Fasta Pasta Award) also stepped up from the 15s and played an amazing game at WA, always providing an op on. Jorja and Lilly really worked hard in goals against some huge opposi on and developed throughout the game to come

forward and create lots of op ons. Zoe was again amazing through the mid-court with heaps of intercepts and Mikayla also picked up a lot of touches at WD. Thanks to Jorja Burdon and Zoe Johnston for si ng bench. Well done girls! Let's keep it going! B Reserve: 61-27. Great game girls - a brand new combina on that proved to work very well. Could have given best to all 7 of you everyone stepped up. Best player (Key 2 Sale Award) to Lauren for great shoo ng and feeding second best went to Kate for her defence pressure and presence all over court, well done. B Grade: 64-44. Another fantas c four quarters girls. We played our game, worked on implemen ng what we're working on at trainings and we are reaping the rewards. Amy, Sal & Sam worked well in defence and went hard at every ball. Chloe & Hayley ran all day and Kayla and Abbie worked hard in goals all day. Best players Chloe Watson (Planta on Treated Timber Award) and Amy Clegge . A Reserve: 38-32. Great to finish off a ght game with a win girls. Everyone’s defence over the en re court was fantas c and we were rewarded with held balls. Our composure in the last quarter was what gave us the points in the end and it was great to see everyone staying posi ve when the ball just wouldn't sink. We eventually crept away and managed to win by 6. Once again fantas c effort by all 7 players with Tameka having a stellar game with a lot of touches in GK earning herself the B&P Travel & Cruise award and Laura crea ng plenty of space in the ring to get second best. A Grade: 62-52. Well done on the win. Just as we were finding some rhythm, Malinda decides to go and break her arm. We all wish you a speedy recovery Mal, and look forward to you hi ng the court again in 2021. To everyone's credit, you were all very composed and worked well when Taitlyn hit the court in GA. Thank you Taitlyn for all your efforts, especially a er already having played a full game in A Res. Emily and Sarah, you con nue to improve as a defensive duo, keep up the hard work and it will all pay off. Ash had a great game in WA, feeding and drive well all game. It's great to have you back on court. Let’s con nue to work hard as a team and stay focused on our goals. O'Brien Electrical Mt Gambier Award went to Ash and second best to Caitlin.

NETball club notes A Grade: Hatherleigh 54 def Robe 36. We had a tough game against Robe, working with a new goalie combo we tended to force the issue which resulted in many basic errors. The change at half me opened the game up for us and we were able to score more freely, eventually coming away with a hard fought win. Lara con nues to dominate at WD pulling in many intercepts and chasing down anything loose. Lace in goals is proving to be a real focal point for us and is growing in confidence. Sarah B is combining well in defence with the two Maddie's and star ng to find her feet, proving to be a handful for her opponents. Both Maddie's had a crack in goals/defence and worked their bu s off, while Sarah F and Tegan controlled the midcourt. Tegan used her athle cism and tenacious a ack on the ball to earn herself the ANZAC Medal, a fi ng reward for her figh ng spirit. Overall a hard game where we had to grind out a win and a lot of this meant going back to basics and readjus ng our game plan. Well done girls. A big thank you to firstly Rosie for si ng bench, your form in 17's is outstanding, and a senior run is not far off. Keep working hard. Secondly to Marnie, thank you for running off the A Reserve court to be ready to help us out. Sassi Award - Sarah Broadhead, Somerset Hotel Award - Maddie Pulmer, Since Fi y-Six Award - Lacey Haines. A Reserve: A very fast and fran c start to the game against Robe, with both teams moving the ball quickly. Robe's accurate shoo ng gave them the early lead. Lucy Corman's speed and athle cism in WD forced numerous turnovers and kept Hatherleigh in the game. The new combina on of Lucy and Isabel in the defensive circle began to find their feet in the second quarter. They rebounded strongly and worked relessly to apply pressure to Robe goalies. Hatherleigh were driving hard into a ack and Melissa McGrath in WA feeding the ball directly into the circle. The second half began with scores level, but it was Robe that se led quickly, while Hatherleigh were unable to convert. Lucy Chant con nued to work hard in defence but Robe's shoo ng accuracy was hard to match. Changes were made going into the fourth, Hatherleigh with nothing to lose, down by 5. With Eliza Mewe direc ng play out in GA, Paris asserted herself as a strong target in GS. Both goalies showed poise and confidence as Hatherleigh began to peg back Robe's lead. Defensive pressure and intensity right down the court li ed and Hatherleigh finished the game with a 36-34 lead. Great comeback girls! Lucy Corman was best with the Sassi Voucher, followed by Lucy Chant with the Beachport Hotel award. B Grade: Hatherleigh 35 def Robe 27. A good win considering we had to change around a bit due to lacking in our goal-circle with Ellie coming off with difficulty breathing. It was a tough physical game but we need to learn to adjust to it. Leila con nued to shoot well and did for the en re game. Nic was in shock when I gave her the GA tag but did a good job combining with Leila. Georgia and Ella had their hands full in the circle with opposi on height but managed to keep on top of it. Nat con nued to run hard as she always does and gave lots of encouragement on the court. Lacey and Meg both worked well with Nat in the mid-court. We tend to get anxious and that makes our game become scrappy. We have s ll a lot to work through but it will come easier as we play more games. Thank you so much Fiona Jackman for si ng bench. Gino's Pizza Award - Meg Gray, Beachport Hotel Award - Georgia Gray, Java Café award - Nic Thomas. B Reserve: Hatherleigh 56 def Robe 26. Another good win but it didn't come easy. We had good passages of play, but we also rushed our passes and at mes were playing behind which led to turnovers and Robe scoring. A change at every quarter is never ideal but to the girls credit they all adapted well. Both Staci and Sally dominated the midcourt feeding the ball into our goalies with precision. Indi and Michelle are combining well together and are both shoo ng well.

NETball club notes Amy and Hannah in WD both took some specky intercepts and Fee and Karen in defence worked hard and are forming a strong combina on together. Billie once again gave it her all in GS. Dizey played her first game since her reco and once she found her feet dug deep for her confidence and played well opening up the space and taking on board all that was said to her. Thank you again to Kerry for being primary carer and for your help. Thank you to Holly for scoring. Huge congratula ons to Tegan on being awarded the ANZAC Medal. Somerset Hotel Award - Indi, Heaven on a Hanger - Fee, Hatherleigh Sport and Rec - Karen. 17 & Under: Hatherleigh 59 def Robe 26. We had a rough start adap ng our game to the quicker speed against Robe, especially in the first quarter. Transi oning the game to short and quick, completely transformed the score line. Both captains Rosie Ne le and Lacey Haines stepped up in the second half of the game with strong direc on and drive down the court. Dakota held her own and converted the turnovers relessly. Elly and Rosie stepped up their defensive pressure, crea ng countless turnovers. Well done girls! Denton Sportspower Award - Dakota Hateley, Ladies Commi ee Awards - Rosie Ne le and Elly Redden. 15 & Under: Coming off the bye we started the game against Robe rather scrappy. It took us almost a half to get switched on! We need to make sure we are ready to go from the first whistle. On a posi ve note, all over the court our defensive pressure was very good from everyone. Eva played a solid game at WD and took several intercepts; Tori was awesome in a ack and had great vision with passing into her goalies. Let's keep working hard at training and improving. Millicent Chemist Award - Tori, Hatherleigh Ladies Commi ee - Eva. 13 & Under: Hatherleigh 31 def Robe 12. Another good start to a game against Robe, scoring 8 goals to 1 in the first quarter. Our focus was on 'hands over the ball' with strong one on one defence over four quarters. Our a ack on the ball in improving when transi oning down court, while the mid-court is star ng to use the circle to advantage when feeding into our goalies. Denton Sportspower Award - Poppy Fitzgerald, Gino's Pizza Award - Amber Chester. Junior 1: What a wonderful day at Robe. Well done to the Robe Club and all the organisers of Robe to Recovery! Our li le Eagles played well again. There are some great skills to encourage and keep working on. Livvi, Grace and Scarle all did a great job prac sing their dodging and crea ng space and op ons to pass to. Sienna once again worked well with her footwork and Olivia B did some great strong passes. Alirah, Luca and Olivia H got nice and high defending the ball and managed to pick off a number of great intercepts. Lots of great movement happening all the way down the court. Keep up the great work girls. Thank you again to Anne for primary carer. Maccas Award - Livvi Faulkner, Toy Kingdom Award Grace Andre.

Junior 2: The girls were once again excited to hit the court as they lined up against Robe. It was clear the girls had been working on dodging and changing direc on by the way they made strong leads for the ball. Playing a younger Robe team, girls were encouraged to clear out and move into space to avoid crowding. Hatherleigh showed excellent accuracy when goal shoo ng and were re-bounding strongly in the goal ring. Players are becoming more confident each week at knowing their posi ons and learning their areas. Overall Hatherleigh put in an excellent effort and played the game in good spirit. Kirby received the Toyworld voucher for chasing up loose balls in defence and Paige received the Java Café award for excellent intercepts. Well done Myla Bowman on her first game of J2.

Junior 2: Another great game girls! Even though we got a li le bit wet everyone ran the game out well. Great defence and drive from Adele and another great game of defending from Lily. Holly did an amazing job moving in the circle and shoo ng some awesome goals. Zoe took some great intercepts and even shot a couple of goals. Alyssa chased the ball well and Zayley threw some strong passes. Claire and Isabelle got many ps to balls and led well down the court. Just need to remember to run into space and not crowd the player with the ball. Keep up the great work! Happy birthday to Zayley who played another ripper of a game. Awards: Adele - Fasta Pasta and Lily Hungry Jacks. Junior 1: The girls played another really strong game, against a team of strong junior players. The girls used everything we prac ced at training, including improving on footwork. Overall, we should be super proud of the effort we put in. Awards went to Jacquelyn (Kaboom Entertainment) who played solidly everywhere on the court. The other award went to Lily (Hungry Jacks) who was super impressive the whole game. Well done girls! 13 & Under: Probably one of the toughest games we have played. Our en re side should be very proud of the 4 quarters that each girl gave 100% in! We lacked in height but tried hard to s ck with them in every aspect. The game definitely was not reflected in the scores, with Nangwarry firing in their goal area. We tried different combos within each of the quarters and the girls did their best in posi ons they don't necessarily play. Red faces, big smiles and lots of puff is all I can ask for! xx Well done and keep your heads high girls - super proud of all of you! Awards: Grace - $5 Angelino Family Award and Molly - Hungry Jacks. 15 & Under: A fantas c win, well done girls, the whole team played extremely well, much improvement with our

footwork and defence. Awards: Zahli - Athletes Foot and Alisha - Kaboom Entertainment. 17 & Under: Our first win! Training hard has finally paid off with the girls knocking out our first win of the season. Our defence line starred with Izzy, Taylah and Marnee working over me to turn over ball and provide our a ack line with opportuni es to score. Kate ran hard through the guts in the first half and combined well with Skye on the wing to provide our shooters with good ball. Milla provided a good feeding op on in the second half with Zara, Phoebe, Skye and Kate all having a good crack in goals as we tried different combos and all proved strong op ons for the future. Best players went to Taylah (Vanity) and Kate (She's Apples). B Grade: What a fantas c game girls. Everyone worked well together which made for an amazing game to watch and play. Everyone worked well and moved the ball down the court with ease. Everyone adjusted and worked together well which helped us come away with the win. Best players went to Mahli - Birdie Blue and Billie - Baker's Delight. A Reserve: Excellent win girls! Everyone played a strong solid 4 quarters. Bri and Kaylah once again worked well in goals backing each other up making it hard for the Nangwarry defence to have touch. Rach and Heidi worked the ball well around the circle always being an op on and delivering the ball nicely into the goalies. Alicia worked relessly in GK along side Nat and Georgia. Evie stepped on to the court at half me going into WA and Heidi in to C both taking on these posi on with ease. Great game girls! Well done! Awards: Heidi - Body Shop and Nat She's Apples. A Grade: A well fought out contest showing con nual improvement every week. Best player and awards to Emily The Body Shop and Emalee She's Apples.

NETball club notes The Mount Burr Netball Club is proud to have Igni on Fitness, South East Conveyors, and Kimberly-Clark Australia (KCA) as major sponsors for the 2021 season. Junior 2: Well done my li le superstars. You all played an excellent game and I am very proud of you all. Some great passages of play down the court, but let's work on crea ng space. Once again you all worked well at both ends of the court. KABOOM Bowling award went to Indi. Junior 1: A bright and early start for our game against Kalangadoo! Another good effort from all players, with everyone learning to use new skills in each posi on. Although the weather was not ideal in the second half of the game, the girls powered through and tried their best. It was a tougher game against a strong side, although it is always good to learn from our mistakes, which will only make this group of girls stronger. Award went to Becky (KABOOM Bowling) for her ability to adapt to each posi on she was put in and crea ng some great intercepts in defence. 13 & Under: What can I say - WOW the Kalangadoo team was so strong all over the court, and we couldn't match them. We will learn a lot from this game and hopefully, use this to build on our own team game. We need to get in front of our opposi on and drive stronger to the ball. When playing in the wet, as we did, it is so important to play front and bring the ball down the court with strong passing. Some of you did drop your heads in the first quarter but need to keep playing no ma er how tough it is on the court and on the scoreboard. Let's regroup and train hard and come out firing today against Pt Mac. Thanks to Ebony for umpiring and Lisa for scoring. Ducky's award went to Sara. 15 & Under: Well done girls. It is good to see what we are doing at training is being put into prac ce on court. Our defensive pressure all over the court caused lots of forced errors and held balls. Although it was a much tougher game, we all kept our heads high and kept going. We will take away lots from this game to work on and only aim to build from here. Great job girls. Award went to Abbey Fal ng (Denton's Sportspower). 17 & Under: Last week’s game highlighted the importance of coming to training ready to give 100% and to implement what we are working on as a team within games. Our defensive pressure across the court for the majority of the game was good and helped create many turnovers, which, unfortunately, we struggled to convert on the scoreboard. While the wet weather impacts our preferred style of play, we need to make sure we are set in our structures and reading off one another across the en re court. Lot's to work on at training. Thanks to Lisa for jumping in to umpire at short no ce. Enchanted Beauty award went to Makenzie Bevan who showed great leadership out on court. B Reserve: Bad luck girls, we played some great passages of netball, but

NETball club notes need to con nue to play that netball for 4 quarters. There were lots of changes but to our credit, we adapted to these well, which is posi ve to see. Our defence in Mia, Breanna and Bec created many turnovers and supported each other, bringing the ball down the court. Our goalies in Karen, Tess, and Amy started to work well and with con nuous prac cing, those goals will go in. Hannah and Jazmin drove strongly through the middle and were always an op on on the circle and created some strong passing into our goalies. Let's work hard at training and use this game to help us improve all over the court. Thanks to Madi for umpiring and Sally for scoring. Awards - Enchanted Beauty by Brianna went to Breanna and Since Fi y-Six went to Hannah. B Grade: Bad Luck girls, Kalangadoo were a strong team to play against. Their goalies were very accurate and we worked hard in the circle to stop their dominance. We did create turnovers throughout the game and need to have pa ence for each other to bring the ball down the court. As a team, we need to come in front and drive strongly to the ball, not turn our backs and always be an op on. When we did, and when we worked effec vely as a team, we created turnovers and scored off them, which was great to see. Thanks to Paula for umpiring and Tanya for scoring. Awards - Java Café went to Madi B and Enchanted Beauty by Brianna went to Georgia. A Reserve: Saturday was the first game we all started to gel together and as a result, we saw everyone playing some of their best netball yet. Well done girls. Although we didn't come away with a win, the constant pressure and hard work throughout the mid-court created many great passages of play and opportuni es for Faith, Heidi, and Stace to take some intercepts. We had plenty of opportunity throughout the game we just lacked the conversion on the scoreboard and wasteful passing saw Kalangadoo's score slowly creep away. Well done to Layla (Ducky's Surf award) and Faith (Enchanted Beauty award) for working relessly for the en re game. A Grade: Going into this game we knew it was going to be our toughest game for the 2021 season so far. Against a tough Kalangadoo ou it, we produced many good passages of play and saw some great defensive pressure lead to numerous turnovers. We did, however, struggle to u lize our opportuni es and convert these on the scoreboard. This game highlighted the importance of being switched on from the first whistle and ensuring that individually we all remain in the game and give 100% across all 4 quarters. It is clear that we play our best netball when we lead hard towards the ball and all have a desire to contest at every opportunity. Awards went to Ann Guye (Duckys Surf) and Sarah Nulty (Millicent Gi ware and Chemist). Thanks also to Lisa for umpiring, Heidi for scoring, and Tanya for being primary carer.

Junior 1: Awards - Torah Staples (Donut King), Lucy Neale (Dominos). Great effort girls. Everyone came out and wanted to really give this a go which was amazing to see. Being the second game I was really proud of us for really giving it a shot. Kalangadoo had some really tall girls which made it hard for our li le ones to see but they worked around it and tried hard each me, a lot s ll to work on at training but everyone should be proud of themselves for pu ng up a fight like they did. Junior 2: Awards - Skyla Hopgood (Donut King) and Lily Whan (Dominos). Well done again girls, everyone is improving and listening more and more each game. It was a tough game with the other girls having some great li le netballers, but we kept going, and didn't give up which is great to see! We've got some things to prac ce at training like clearing away from the ball then coming towards the ball instead of crowding the ball and standing sta onary. But it's only our second game in and majority of the team haven't played netball before, but everyone is improving heaps especially with our passes which is a great sign. The awards went to Skyla Hopgood who tried hard all game, gave it her all and was there for many contests. The other award went to Lily Whan who guided her teammates and helped her team bring the ball down court. Keep going team! 13 & Under: Awards - Jas Morgan (Donut King) and Bailee Lewis (Dominos). Bad luck girls, we tried our best, they are a very dy side. We set mini goals throughout the game and we achieved 80% of them which I am proud of. We s ll have a lot of work to be done but small steps at a me. Our lane work and cu ng in front is improving each week. Jazzy and Bailee got best players for their consistency and always pu ng in 100% throughout the game. They also received the Donut King (Jazzy) and Dominos (Bailee) awards. 15 & Under: Awards - Tia Moulden (Dominos) and Lara Wilson (Donut King). Congratula ons girls on another win for the start of the season! It was a great game, star ng out really strong crea ng a great lead coming into half me. From half me we let them come back into the game. We have a few things we need to work on at training but it's great to start the season on a high! Well done girls! 17 & Under: Awards - Mackenzie Millard (Dominos) and Kristy Sneath (Donut King). Bad luck on Saturday. Kalangadoo have always been a hard side to come up against. We just need to take our individual wins and put them into team transi on to win the play. There are a lot of posi ves to take from the day. But playing such a dominant team really pinpointed the key things we need to work on this season. It showed not having our core goalie in. Just shows that if we come into situa ons when we lost players, we need to adjust and bring the newcomers into play. Hopefully today we can get back what we lost. Thank

you to Emilia for filling in, you were a big help. We would love to have you again. Congratula ons to on ge ng best. B Reserve: Awards - Imogen Jacob (Bay Pizzeria) and Ariella Smith (Pick Ave Bakery). Tough game girls, we fought hard all day, great defence by Fee, Arielle and Ashton you never gave up which is excellent. Cristan and Maddy moved well together in the goal ring and Immy ran her li le heart out at centre. Thanks again to our U17 Immy and Ariella for filling in and U15 Sophie and Bridie for si ng on the bench. Let's come out stronger next game. B Grade: Awards - Kelly Millard (Pick Ave Bakery) and Natasha Sanderson (Bay Pizzeria). A great first half, the court was well balanced and the drive was evident. The ball was delivered beau fully into Sal and De. Whole court defence was brilliant and we worked together to shut down K-Doo opportuni es. We capitalised on many turnovers made. We let ourselves down with our own skill errors in the 3rd quarter. We all seemed to run out of steam. Fitness is the key to maintaining concentra on and good decision making when delivery the ball. Kelly and Natasha teamed up well together in defence and applied pressure to obtain turnovers. Thanks again to Mckenzie and Emilia for their support and being part of our team. A Reserve: Awards - Isabelle Sneath (Pick Ave Bakery) and Abbi Nellthorp (Bay Pizzaria). We started off really strong but couldn't keep up with KDoo and their consistency, need to treasure our turnovers and keep up the on-court talk. Again we had some great passages of play and our defensive pressure all over court was great. A Grade: Awards - Morgan Amy (Pick Avenue Bakery) and Michelle Lewis (Bay Pizzaria). Kalangadoo were too strong for us. We are definitely improving our combina ons each week but not a lot seemed to work due to Kalangadoo’s smart play. Morgan, Lisa and Jess worked hard in defence, Kalangadoo’s a ack line proving a very hard line up. Michelle ran all day against a tough opponent, while Montanna was impressive with her speed and agility in WA. Onwards and upwards from here girls, let's keep working hard. Club News: Wow, what a day, sunny one minute then raining the next but that's what we expect from the weather at Port Mac. Not the best day on the courts with our Under 15's the only team coming away with a win. It’s always a tough day on the courts when playing Kalangdoo. Thanks to everyone who turned up to our Working Bee. All your help was much appreciated. We would also like to thank all our sponsors! We really appreciate your support to our club. To our players and families please support our sponsors in the future! Our sponsors are Bay Pizzaria, Pick Ave Bakery, Donut King, Shed 21, Taylormade and South Aussie. Enjoy the bye and rest those bodies.

ROUND 3 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW KALANGADOO v MOUNT BURR Mt Burr started the game strongly with pressure and high work rate from circle defenders Heidi Clark and Madi Hagge forcing Kalangadoo goaler's Abbey Duncan and Melissa Russell to word hard to find space. Mt Burr's Heidi Clark began to make her mark on the game, reading the play well to take many mely intercepts. Kalangadoo's youngster Kori Collins worked hard at WD to take countless intercepts to help Kalangadoo go into the first break in front with the smallest of margins. During the second quarter Kalangadoo's Chelsea Croser and Chloe Pra stepped up their intensity, forcing errors from Mt Burr's a ack to help Kalangadoo extend the margin to six going into half me. Midway through the third quarter an injury to Kori Collins provided an opportunity for Kalangadoo junior Sophie Wrightson to hit the court for her first A Grade match into WA, with Kalangadoo moving Jane Auld to WD. Jane Auld provided a good tussle against Ella Fal ng. Mt Burr's goal shooter Ebony Clark had a solid third quarter missing only one goal from ten a empts to help Mt Burr peg back the score to go into three quarter me down 41 goals to 37. The final quarter con nued at a high intensity with Mt Burr's Laura Schultz posi oning well to feed her goaler's with precision. Madi Hagge con nued to work hard on Kalangadoo's Ebony McDiarmid who was posi oning well for her feeders. Through Kalangadoo's defensive pressure and experience they were able to extend the lead out to seven at the final whistle. Score: Kdoo 52 def Mt Burr 45. Best players Kdoo: Chelsea Croser, Kori Collins; Mt Burr: Sarah Nulty and Heidi Clark. GLENCOE v TANTANOOLA Both teams came into this round determined to add points to the board. Glencoe started well with an intercept from Sarah Edwards and a quick conversion from Caitlin Hentschke. Tantanoola's Emma Gould used her body strength and held well all game, Gould finished with 12 goals in the first quarter with the match ed at 16 a piece at the first break. Within the first 5 minutes of the second quarter Glencoe took a huge blow with Malinda Markiewicz taking a fall and coming off injured Markiewicz wasn't able to take the court again.

This meant new club recruit Taitlyn Rothe took the court in GA, with Rothe and Hentschke combining well and finding space with ease. Tantanoola's Vic Lucas stepped up for her team taking some mely intercepts at the centre pass, however smart play by Donna Jeaschke and Ashlea Edwards in Glencoe's a ack meant the Murphies went into half me with a 7 goal lead. During the third quarter Tantanoola stepped up the defensive pressure and Tantanoola's young gun Tayla Rowe got her hands to some balls in the circle, this along with some strong drives from Casey Walker meant the Tigers were able to reduce the deficit by 3 at three quarter me. The last quarter saw Glencoe's defence duo Sarah Edwards and Emily Thompson step it up a notch and were able take away the space in the Tigers goal circle, that along with some uncharacteris c missed goals from Tant's Jami Walker meant Glencoe were able keep them to 10 for the quarter. Glencoe came away with a 10 goal victory. ROBE v HATHERLEIGH Wow! What an amazing experience to be part of such a spectacular day! Both Robe and Hatherleigh were pumped and ready to go a er our pregame ac on. Robe came out strong in the first quarter, with lots of pressure all over the court and accurate shoo ng by Robe's Tori Gluyas in goals. Georgia Perkins was making it hard work for Hatherleigh's goalies Maddie Redman and Lacey Haines, ge ng her hands to lots of balls and excellent rebounding. Unfortunately Robe's Alannah Campbell went down with an ankle injury in the first quarter. Robe were up by 1 goal at quarter me. The second quarter saw Robe keep up the fight, with Robe's Car a Borrelli coming into GD. Hatherleigh started to put more pressure on all over the court, Hatherleigh's Lara McGregor made it tough for Robe's Kim Ross, ge ng her hands to lots of balls. Hatherleigh started to become more accurate in goals and were making it tough to get the ball into the ring in Robe's a ack line, with great pressure from Maddie Pulmer and Sarah Broodhead in defence. Hatherleigh took the lead at half me, being up by 2 goals. At half me Hatherleigh swapped Pulmer and Redman from GS to GD, which worked well to Hatherleigh's advantage. Pulmer was strong under the ring and held strong and shot

accurately. Redman was also a huge asset in Hatherleigh's defence, bringing the ball down the court with strong leads. This saw Hatherleigh being up by 13 at three quarter me. In the last quarter Hatherleigh pushed on and maintained their standard for the last 15 minutes, Tegan Merre worked relessly at WA for Hatherleigh, driving and feeding the ball into the ring with precision and saw her come away with the Eileen Canny ANZAC Memorial Medal. Lacey Haines also played a great game, finishing the game off strong, with accurate shoo ng for Hatherleigh. This saw Hatherleigh take the win by 18 goals. Best players for Hatherleigh were Lacey Haines and Sarah Broodhead and for Robe were Georgia Perkins and Tory Gluyas. KONGORONG v NANGWARRY Nangwarry started strong taking advantage of any opportunity, Nangwarry's defenders Carly Ploenges and Hayley Vanderhorst worked over me pushing Kongorong goalies Emalee Stokker and Sarah Beare to con nuously create new posi ons. Nangwarry's GA Ange Pra finished the quarter with 11 goals helping her team take an 8-goal lead in to the first break Kongorong 10 to Nangwarry 18. The second quarter saw both teams li their work rate capitalising on every opportunity. Kongorong junior Zara VonStanke went down with an ankle injury late in the term seeing Georgia Bald come on to WD. Nangwarry's centre Hayley Burner and WA Kylie Heaver combined and fed well into their goalies finding any open space. Nangwarry increased the lead at half me - Kongorong 17 to Nangwarry 32. The third quarter saw Kongorong swing some changes with Sarah Beare moving into the mid court and Georgia Bald into goals, Nangwarry remained unchanged. Both teams con nued to increase their work rate and make the most of every opportunity, Nangwarry increased their lead with scores Kongorong 25 to Nangwarry 48. The final quarter saw an even score with players pu ng their bodies on the line for posi on. The ANZAC Day Medal was awarded to Hayley Burner. Final score Kongorong 29 to Nangwarry 52. Best players - Kongorong: Emily Lightbody and Emalee Stokker; Nangwarry: Hayley Burner and Carly Ploenges.
