ROBE ROOSTERS
Junior Colts: It was great to have a win, hopefully there are many more to come. It proved to the team that hard work at training will eventually pay off It was a real team effort, suppor ng each other, doing the team things, and having a 'real crack' at every contest. Thanks, to the 10 year old boys, that stepped up at the last minute, to cover our player shortage. Just as well they did due to some older players needing to be 'iced up' in the later stages of the game. An indica on to our team first mentality, was that we had 8 goal kickers. Players considered to be our top performers were: Conrad, Byron, Dylan, Eli, Nate and Boodah. This week we must have the same 'intense mind' set, in order to keep the momentum up and build on last week's performance. Basically 1 step forward / no steps backward. All the best team. Carpe Diem
Senior Colts: Round 3 and we took the trip down to Kongorong with only 16 to take on the Hawks. A er a slow start we got into the game with some great team work but the fact we had no interchange started to take its toll as we just ran out of puff in the last quarter but once again the boys showed great spirit to push ll the end. We look forward to this week when we hope to have a full team to choose from to play K’doo. Best went to Archie, John, Kaiden, Myles, Blake and the coaches to Wellsy
A Grade: Great team win by the Roosters. Goals were hard
to come by in the first half, having 16 scoring shots for only 3 majors. Kongorong had applied good pressure on us throughout the first two quarters, making it difficult to get consecu ve possessions and clear scoring shots. A er hal ime with the boys star ng to use their voice, play with more poise and be more selfless, things opened up for us. Coach Brown pu ng on a clinic out of the goal square kicking 8 majors in the last half in a dominant best on ground performance. Back 6 were strong again, led by Jack and Zac and JR. Midfield got on top as well in the second half, Woody, Dins and Dunny sending us forward countless mes and working hard around the ground. Woka also giving us first use in the centre (ge ng a li le rest courtesy of first gamer Seb Moore). Sam Bates also showed his class up forward, kicking a couple and se ng up a few more. Let’s get around the Roosters this weekend for the big clash against K’doo!

football club notes
A er a couple of away games to start the year, it was nice to be back at Magpie Park to take on the Eagles in what always provides some quality footy throughout the day and this was no different. With no footy on the oval the guys had it looking in great condi on all be it with some of the local wildlife had been enjoying the scenery as well over the last few days.
Thanks goes to our Junior Game Day Sponsors Autocare Mt Gambier, Rarcoola Structural, The Rocks Shop, MT Wheels & 3MP as game day sponsors and weekly award sponsors in – The Roadhouse, Country A tude, Spot On, Bunnings, Aussie Disposals, Sorrentos, OK Pie Shop, KD's Deli, Intersport, Doughnut King, Wendy's, McDonalds, Compton Street Bakers Delight & Boost Juice.
Under 11: With Boxy away the reigns were handed over to Chrissy & Reevsey and with an abundance of numbers they had the 2 games running for the Auskickers & Minis. Driving into the oval early you would be mistaken for thinking there was a fes val of footy on with the number of players and parents on the oval watching. A huge thank you to our game day awards sponsors in Wendys, McDonalds, Doughnut King & Compton Street Bakers delight with the awards going to Billie, Issac, Axel & Frank.
Junior Colts: A er a win the week before the Maggies were looking for a repeat performance up against the young Eagles. 1st quarter started fairly even with both teams working out where they could maximise their opportuni es with Eagles managing to get on top but we s ll finding plenty of the ball. The young colts couldn't match their opponents in the second as they got a run and kicked away to a handy lead at the half. To the players credit and a er some urging from Macca the main break they steadied the ship and with the mids and backs working hard ba led out the game but just could match the run of the Eagles over the 4 qtrs. Best players went to Nathaniel – Spot On, Lachy – Bunnings, Jack – OK Pie Shop, Frank – Bakers Delight & Axel & Koby – Coaches Award.
Senior Colts: Thanks to Phoenix O'Dine who came across from the Bay for a game and even registered a goal along with Paddy & the Hatherleigh boys for coming across and making sure we got a game. Saw some good
passages of play throughout the game but was played in good spirits from both sides. Have to men on the junior colts who come up each and every week for a game in Lachy, Charlie, Nathaniel & Jack, it's a long day for you lads but appreciate you lads making the effort. Best players went to Axel – Road House, Nater –Country A tude, Nathaniel – KD's Deli, Jack – OK Pie Shop, Phoenix –Aussie Disposals.
Reserves: As with each and every game between the 2 sides over recent mes this one proved to be no different with both sides ba ling hard and couldn't get away over the 4 qtrs with the biggest margin of the day at the 1st break to the Maggies at the first break of 7 points. Was a different looking line up with a few called up and away but the game was there to be taken in the last but just fell short at the final siren to go down by the barest of margins. Best players went to Brad, Truman, Tommy Walker, Cam & Simmo.
Seniors: With both sides having a number of players unavailable but welcoming some back it was going to be a match of who se led into the game and got their running game going early. The Eagles jumped out of the block registering 4 goals to 1 early but for some good work late in the quarter and a goal on the siren from jack Casey kept the maggies in the hunt at the first break. The Maggies seemed to get going in the second, playing some of the best footy we have seen so far this season with the run & carry across the lines and the defence constantly rebounding and forwards making the most of every opportunity to go in at the half up by a point and the game delicately poised. The Maggies took a li le while to get going in the 3rd and like the 1st the Eagles jumped away early and we gradually worked our way back in to the Qtr but found the going tough and down by 4 at the final break. We couldn't match Hatherleigh in the last although scoring 4 of our own and Connor kicking his 5th for the game as the Eagles ended up running away with it and blowing the final margin out. Best players went to Connor, Jack, Tye, Kriegs, Ethan & Dylan. Off on the road to Robe next up in what should provide some quality footy throughout the day and a chance for the Seniors to open their account for 2024.

football club notes seniors
A Grade: Coming up against the reigning premiers we knew it was going to be a tough game. Credit to the boys we came out firing having our best first quarter of the year Second quarter Kalagadoo did out score us by 3 goals pu ng them up by 1 point at half me. Second half we played our best team footy of the year with everyone on the ground contribu ng and playing their role to their full poten als. This put some good pressure on by the boys which led to a 52 point win. Some of our best on the day were Brad Mitchell kicking 5 goals and Mikey Telford having a huge influence in our middle and back line. To be fair it was hard to pick a best player on the day with nearly every player, playing their best tough footy. Well done again boys.
B Grade: Well what a great day for football we had over at Kalangadoo. We knew we were up for a big challenge coming up against last year's premiers. It was a great game of B grade football all the way through ll the last bounce. We were good enough to sneak away with a 1 point win. Je Faulkner was all over the ground to be named BOG, Sid had a good game in ruck. Josh Wight found plenty of the ball in the middle. Bollard Rayson had another great game in the middle. Bre Watson gave us plenty of drive out of the middle all day to round out the best.
Senior Colts: We went down to Kalangadoo to have a hit out against a short listed side. Ending up a 14v14 match but everyone involved s ll had a great game and had fun which is the most important thing. Best players were hard to pick again but first best coming up from Jnr Colts was Tommy Atkinson, kicking 8 goals! Ge ng himself the Denton SportsPower award. 2nd best the stumpy award went to Harry Baker playing a great game throughout the wing/middle. 3rd best, the Gino's pizza award went to Fletcher Leopold. Playing ruck throughout most of the game and is really building into a good start to the season. 4th best the Ladies commi ee award went to Will Dower, also coming up from Jnr colts showed all day he is already a classy footballer and will be great to watch
in the coming years. 5th best the Pete Walter's award went to Isaac Chambers, another great game down forward and is very exci ng around the footy. Onto Nangas this week!
Junior Colts: A er some really strong wins in the first couple weeks the Junior Colts faced their first big test against a solid Kalangadoo team on their home deck. With two pre y evenly matched teams, there was a lot more contested footy to be won. The backline was asked to do a bit more work than previous weeks and the momentum shi ed to Kalangadoo at different mes during the game. Despite this the boys were able to keep their bigger guys under control with some great tackling pressure and then moved the ball forward with speed to give the forwards plenty of chances. Patrick McGrath rucked all day, kept his man quiet and won plenty of footy himself. Tommy Atkinson set up brilliantly across the centre line, he tackled hard and set up lots of drives forward from around stoppages. Will Dower was quick and clean as usual up forward, bagging 5 goals was important. He found another gear in the last quarter a er some gentle feedback from a sideline fan which had an immediate scoreboard effect. Henry Bowering was important early around the ball, with lots of strong tackles but was also very classy with the ball in hand. Tait Grege c was great in different posi ons, wing, on ball and up forward. He showed plenty of dash and was not afraid to put his body on the line. A really tough win was great to see and it was pleasing to see everyone do their bit. Onto the next home game against the Saints, where we hope to con nue to play this way.
Under 11: The kids faced a very strong Kalangadoo last week. With a few away and sick we had to borrow some players for a change. Overall it was a great game with some good passages. The weather was beau ful so our skills were excellent. Best players were Archie Clark (Denton's Sportpower), Hugo Ellis (Millicent Toy Kingdom), Henry Hassel (Hatherleigh Ladies Commi ee), and Max Wells (Sco Redman Award).
NANGWARRY SAINTS
The sun was shining on our first home game for 2024. Saturday saw us welcome Mount Burr and it was a fairly even down on the ground with 2 wins a piece. It was nice to see our junior colts get their first win, followed by a ght tussle in the senior colts but unfortunately, we were not able to hang on. B grade was the next team to score the 4 points in a close game but it was not the same for our seniors who let the third quarter slip to see Mount Burr kick away
It was nice to see so many hang around for tea and then the ever-popular shuffle night. Congratula ons to Garty who took home the prize money
Just a reminder to please see Ben or Cheryl to pay your membership! Our next func on will be the Quiz Night stay tuned for details.

With over 40 years' combined experience in the industry, we have the knowledge and exper se to transfer your ideas into the product of your dreams.
Junior Colts: First home game for the year, and the kids didn't disappoint with a good win at home. We were able to play the way we have trained through the preseason. Some great ball movement and lots of good running, linking up by hand and really pu ng in the work to assist teammates. I want to thank all the kids I asked to go over and assist Mt Burr. It was good for all to get a good run in the legs and a good opportunity for kids to play against each other and learn from it. Our main scoring was a testament to good clean skills and great efforts around the ground. Mason M, Je D and Josh M
bagging mul ple goals each was great to watch. Jimmy, Jordan, Blake and Harvey were all fantas c when they went over to help and really challenged their mates which was pleasing as a coach to see.
Senior Colts: Last week we played against a very talented Mt Burr team in one of the be er games of junior footy going around. But unfortunately, a er playing a solid first 3 quarters and with it pre y much being goal for goal our guys eventually got over run in the last quarter to lose by 29 points. Be er players for the day were Calais Borman who kicked 2 goals, Bay McKinnon who controlled the middle of the ground, Archer Virtanen and Benne Moy. Joel Crawford also kicked 2 goals and first gamer Bo Sampson who finished with 2 goals too. A er a tough couple of weeks of footy we are looking forward to see how we go against a strong Hatherleigh team today
B Grade: Was great to get a win at home for the first me this year, was a very tough hard game for the lads and I couldn't be prouder of the boys on how they went about the game and holding on to get the win. Thanks to everyone involved and for the guys who got a lastminute call up.
A Grade: Was nice to be back on our home deck and credit to our groundsman Cooky Dinnison, the oval was magnificently presented. Again we started the game well and played two good quarters of football before heading into the half me break. We transi oned the ball well moving forward and made Mt Burr work hard when they had the ball. A er the break we le it all in the rooms and failed to fire allowing Mount Burr to put the game beyond reach at 3/4 me. It was put to the players to respond and not roll over. To the boy's credit they fought to the end making it a ghtly fought last quarter. Goal kickers were Andy Hyland 2, Joel Virtanen 2 and young Archer Virtanen 1. Best players were big man George McWaters who con nues to work relessly all day, Lennox "Ox" Lewis was a bull all day, Joel Virtanen never disappoints with another display of silky smooth skills, Josh Weedon played a fantas c game down back, Ty Dinnison played a tough game taking some telling marks and Isaac Raymond con nues to run the game out strongly On another note from one coach to another I would like to congratulate Brayden "Donny" Kelly on his first win as coach with his boys ge ng over the line in the Reserves. Next week we venture down to Hatherleigh and again we are looking forward to the challenge.
mount burr mozzies
football club notes
Junior Colts: A er a rocky first half our team came to life and won the second half. It was sparked by Reeds constant effort to get to contests and tenacity around the ball. Young Louie and Archer had their best games combining together for a real display of team football that set up Hunter a set shot. So far our most consistent player has been Moystn who has found his home at full back. It was another terrific performance by him. Thank you for the Nangwarry players who came across and played a great game for us.
Senior Colts: Senior colts were challenged early in the first half before recording a tough win against a very good Nangwarry team. This game could have gone either way but the boys fought it out to the end. This week will be another huge challenge for us against Port Mac where we know we are going to have to bring our A game and play 4 quarters of football to come away with the win.
B Grade: With a few key outs but equally as many big inclusions, we took the field at Nangwarry confident that we would be able to put up a good show. We also had two players celebrate milestone games in Jacon Gregory (100) and Harvey Muhovics (50). The match started well with us controlling the ball and kicking a few goals in the first quarter Unfortunately all that hard work was undone in the second quarter when the Nangwarry midfield and defence got on top of us and they kicked 5 goals for the term. We fought back well and
played a great third term to give us a small lead going into the final quarter. Unfortunately through poor skills and lack of disciple we gave up too many goals in the last and Nangwarry snuck away with a well deserved win. Best players were Brock Sandow, Bailey Poulish, Dan Jankowski, Pete Guye and Noah Telfer.
A Grade: What another ripper day for footy it was to head over to take on a much improved Nangwarry. The first half was an end to end type of game, with both sides applying great pressure. We couldn’t seem to get our style of footy going as well as we would have liked to, so credit to Nangwarry for really being able to lock us down. Some honest discussions and truths at half me got us back on track kicking 7 goals to none in the third. We were able to really open up the game with our foot skills and leg speed. Pleasing to run out winners in the end. S ll lots of improvement in front of us to come if we keep pu ng in the work on the training track. Hopefully can find a consistent four quarter effort soon. Congratula ons to Dylan Sigston on making your A grade debut. You had some great moments and won some important contests.
PORT MACDONNELL DEMONS
A Grade: Port MacDonnell 19.22 def Nangwarry 9.4. We welcomed the Saints back to the seaside and the crowd were certainly entertained with a high standard of footy from the Junior sides. Both or our teams won, but it is wonderful to see that a er years of having hardly any juniors, Nangwarry was able to not only fill both sides of juniors but also have a couple on the bench. As we all know, Junior sides are the lifeblood of any club and thankfully we have always had good depth here in the Bay. Our match started as a very even affair with 4 goals apiece in the first quarter, we thought that Nangwarry would be an easy foe and they made us pay for our mistake. A er a rev up from Coach Woodall at the first break the team changed gear and the game was on. Young gun Luke Richards proved last weeks efforts were no fluke and bagged the BOG with his ability to read the play and be in the right place at the right me to make a difference in every contest of the ball. Alex Ridding was decisive across the forward lines which paid dividends on the scoreboard. Josh Woodall was consistent through the midfield with the help of Colby Munro and Will Macdonald while Tim Sullivan was key in the forward ruck workload and provided a handy target up front. Alex Ridding nudged the leading goalkicker award with 9, followed by Tim Sullivan with 3, Jake Schleter, Colby Munro and Chris an Howle with 2 each and Nathan Bell with one to round out our tally of 19. The 22 points will need to be addressed as weather condi ons were favourable and did not factor into any of the contests or kicking ability. 1st qtr 2nd qtr
B Grade: Port MacDonnell 12.19 def Nangwarry 2.2. Oh! It's a good day to be beside the seaside… oh, I do like to live beside the sea! A picnic song for a BBQ/picnic kind of day at the Bay. Hardly any breeze, cool and cloudy with the sun peeking through at the right
moments to warm you up, in other words a great day for footy! The sizeable “Family League” turnout witnessed a great start to the day with both the junior and senior colts winning! The senior colts going down to the wire in a nailbi ng finish that had us all jumping up and spilling the coffee. With the blanket all spread out, we move from Showdown to Slow Down! (I guess the food coma sets in a er lunch). Nangwarry came out all cheese and biscuits the first quarter and took the boys a li le by surprise, a bit like the cousins you weren't expec ng to turn up to the event. The Bay may have dropped the beer in the opening stanza, but the 2nd quarters spray of points certainly gave the S.O.S. (Sheet of Shame) a good massage. Aaron “Spindle” Harding proved most accurate with a handy bag of 3 goals, while Baz O'Dine and Liam “Bo oms Up” Bo omley had 2 apiece and Isaac Na rass, Connor Richards, Nathan Munro, Simon Merre and Blair “I want that medal!” Cu ng all added one each to the tally. Baz “The Iceman” O'Dine who was not only solid in ruck but all over the ground, won the Esky (BOG), Liam Bo omley gets the meat tray (2nd) for his pace, winning the hard ball in the forward lines and through the flanks. Jack “I'm Baaack!” Cawthorne wins the 6 pack (3rd) for his steadying efforts from the CHB to the forward pockets. Coming in at every angle crumbing the ball like ants at a picnic, Simon Merre wins the Bickfords Cordial (4th), Tom Sullivan gets the Fruit Box (5th) and Nathan Munro the ice cream (6th). We welcome Jackson Pollard in his first game for the Bay and welcome back Blake “Shake and Bake” Lynch and Simon Merre . We also thank Je “Jetstar” Lewis and Kur s Lasle for filling in the side and giving our “Senior” moments a more youthful energy. So, let's get on the training track before we head to Mount Burr, not only could it improve our fitness… we might just kick a li le straighter! C'mon The Bay!

Junior Colts: Last week we ventured to Glencoe to take to the Murphies. The team came out strong and confident taking on what they have been learning at training and implemen ng it into the game. Special thanks to the under 11’s who con nue to step up and help out when needed with a couple of them kicking their first goals. Best players went to everyone as you all put in 110%. Awards went to Lawson BakerSports power, Kobe Chapple - Shanks Engineering, Zac Chapple - Donut King, Jobe Bell - Wendy’s and Kallan Shawyer - Coaches award.
Senior Colts: Fresh off the bye and facing a really good Glencoe side our boys were keen for the challenge, we knew how we wanted to start but that wasn't the case with Glencoe showing their class early kicking 8 straight in the first quarter to us 0. The boys knew this was gonna be a challenge but it sure woke them up and a er that first quarter our boys started figh ng and the backline was holding up keeping them to only 4 goals in the second quarter. The second half was a bit the same with Glencoe running all over us but our team was trying their best and figh ng hard which seen us play be er football kicking 2 goals in the second half. Our goal kickers for the game where Braydn Hateley and Ryan Long both with 1. Our best players where Ash Foulds and Eli Bowman who were very strong in our backline and ba led hard all day, Braydn Hateley, Sam Simmons and Brayden Rowe who all ba ed hard in the middle and gave it their all and finally Ryan Long who lead up to the football well all day and helped us link the
football to our forward line. Our boys have a lot to work on for this week when we head back home to take on Kongorong.
Reserves: In the B Grade last week we started really well with some great ball movement and good pressure on Glencoe when they had the ball. As the game went on we started making simple mistakes and we turned the ball over which gave Glencoe more opportuni es. The boys ba led hard and fought it out but we need to get to training and fix a few things in our game. We had Darcy Hogan lead the way in the forward line with 3 goals. Blake McKee had a great game off half back and was our best player, then Hamish Thomson and Ma y Nelson 2nd and 3rd working hard all game in the middle of the ground. Our 3 senior lads Bundy, Bommer and Marky were in our best players, all helping and guiding your young list on the ground.
A Grade: Last week we went to Glencoe a er the bye looking forward to a great challenge in a much improved Glencoe side. The game was a very even contest with both sides kicking goals and playing to their strengths. We had plenty of opportuni es in the 2nd but couldn't kick straight and unfortunately had a very bad 10 minutes where Glencoe kicked away to get a 2 goal lead at half me. We ba led hard in the second half and gave our all, but every me we got back with in a kick, unfortunately Glencoe would return the favour and just get back out in front by a couple. Proud of the boys for never dropping their heads and gave effort for 3 and a half solid quarters as it was a very physical game that played to Glencoe's strengths. 100 point loss at Glencoe last year to lose by 3 goals this year is a hell of a effort. Our young guys are star ng to come of age which is exci ng to be a part of. Best players: Jordy Ha who has definitely gone to the next level, Shaughn King, Brydon Klingberg, Braydn Reilly and Hayden Brown.

football club notes
A challenging day across all grades as we took on Robe. Thank you to Bob Sandow, Ross Anderson, Deiter Merchel, Tim Frost along with the Rodger’s & Tilley families for coming along to our Anzac Match. Congratula ons to Robe’s Kaden Woodward for taking home the John Rodger’s Medal, and also Robe’s Sarah Lawrie winning the Mel Tilley Medal, as voted by the umpires.
Under 11: The Under 11’s played a hard fought game of football. They applied pressure on the ball resul ng in many turnovers. Their marking and kicking skills con nue to improve each week. Awards: Harry Collins (Intersport), Huey Harding (Coaches Award), Nathaniel Elletson (Brant Family), Jack Maidment (Club Award), Judd Buntsma (Donut King) and Iziah Hunt (Presidents Award). Auskick was played at half me and all the kids were determined to touch the ball and kick some goals.
Awards: Archie Telford (Donut King), Hudson Howard (Club Award) and Cade Sandercock (Club Award).
Junior Colts: Beau ful day for footy but the game did not go as well as we hoped. It took 3 quarters for the kids to get going - showing us just what they are capable of, but we need to play like that from the start. It's going to be a long year of skill building and teamwork but if the kids start doing the simple things and find the will and passion to play footy, it will all fall into place. I know with more training and game situa ons the kids can take that next step and start winning games of footy Let's move on, learn and start ge ng ready for the next game. A big thanks again to the senior players that trained with the juniors last week - this is great for our up and coming players. You're welcome to join the juniors any me throughout the season, as this is what our club is all about.
Senior Colts: A er a compe ve effort in round 2 the boys were keen to get back to our home deck and put together four quarters of football and build on the previous weekends work. With some simple focus points for our lines and an overall focus of playing the brand of football we want to play for longer, the lads got to work early and hit the scoreboard within the first few minutes of play. Our mids were consistently given first look at the ball with some fine ruck work and were able to adjust when our opponents began reading our tap work and driving the ball forward. Our backs performed well all day bringing the ball to ground and providing great rebound. We were much more composed with ball in hand and were able to create longer
possession chains, ge ng the ball further from our opponents goal and giving them less opportuni es to send the ball back inside forward 50. Much like the previous week, the game was played in a goal for goal manner and at three quarter me we were faced with a similar challenge of digging deep to run away from our opponent, or being run over the top of. To our boys credit they were up for the challenge and put together some exci ng scoring chains while keeping Robe to one behind in the final term. Each week has seen us make significant improvements on the last and we look forward to con nuing these improvements in the weeks to come. Value Awards went to Jai Hillstone, Ryan Lucas, Ryan Taylor, Toby McKinnon, Harrison Elletson and Ma hew Aarts.
B Grade: Another solid effort without ge ng the points against a very good Robe team. Again our senior colts showed their value, as well as some of the longer term players who some mes don’t get the recogni on they deserve. It was a really even team performance, and with 10 minutes to go, we were within 2 goals. Full credit to Robe, for being too strong when it counted. Something we can learn from. Really proud of the way we are playing as a team and pu ng the side and needs of others first. Andrew Telford, Declan Wright, William Cameron, Michael Waters, Samuel Whitehead and Bohdi Pannenburg won the awards, whilst Sean ‘Camel Kisses’ Maddern took out the team mug award. Not only for his excellent play but for the affec on he showed pre game with his lovely partner. Thanks to the Award Sponsors; Collins Court Butchers, Commercial Hotel, Pick Avenue Deli and the Club.
A Grade: The boys had a really promising start only trailing by 3 goals at half me. We had 3 injuries on the bench, with Robe unfortunately picking up the pace from then. Unfortunately the boys couldn't match it but they're were promising signs throughout the game that things star ng to mesh. Hopefully we can make it click against Tant this week and put ourselves in with a chance. Awards went to Tom Hunter (Collins Court Butcher), Jacob Arthurson (Commercial Hotel), Riley Maconachie (Club Tea), Elliot Modra (Club Tea), Will Vickery (Pick Ave) and Tyrone Rayner (Commercial Hotel).
Thank you to everyone to come along to Hawktoberfest, a very fun and entertaining night. Thank you to the social commi ee for all your hard work. Today we take on the Tigers, good luck to all. Go Hawks!
