A Grade: Last week was a real challenge coming up against an undefeated Robe team. We started brightly, kicking the first goal of the game with our mids on top early Robe hit back with the aid of a s ff breeze and led by 19 points at quarter me. We let ourselves down in the 2nd with Robe kicking the first 3 goals of the quarter, whilst we kept breaking down at half forward. We hit back late with 2 quick goals the keep the margin at 25 points. Unfortunately, the 2nd half went the way of the first. Robe defended really well and shut down any of our forays forward and rebounded from there. Our back six held up really well all day with repeat inside 50's but couldn't stop the scoreboard from slowly cking over. The eventual margin was 34 points, which could have been closer if we could have capitalised on some key moments throughout the game. Best players for the day were Max Telfer and Sam Gray down back, Webby and J Bateman through the middle and Slapey who rucked most of the day
and set us up moving the ball forward, providing our mids with plenty rebound 50s. Our best player for the day was Tyson Atkinson who was clean with possession all day and also kicked 2 goals. Hudson Nowak con nued his good form at CHB taking many intercept marks and using the ball well. Jordan Atkinson was pu ng his body on the line all over the ground and finished with 2 goals. Aus n Ne le was again clean with ball in hand providing plenty of run. While James Solomon and Cohen Clark refused to lose to their opponents and also found plenty of the ball. We hope to keep the momentum going as we face Mt Burr

B Grade: We made the li le trip down to Robe on Saturday, felt more like we were playing in Antarc ca. We came up against a very good robe side their pressure was outstanding, we were very wasteful in front of goal in the first half and saw us down at hal ime. Spoke about another quarter of hard work and grinding it out we would get back on top of the game which we did and walked away with an 8 point win in the end. Todd Watson led from the front again across CHB to take out BOG, Je Faulks had another great game using his pace and skills up and down the wing all day awarded second. Big Altschy was third best kicking 4 goals. New onballer Josh Wight got us back into the game to take out fourth, new recruit Winnie Smith had a good first game for the club to round them out.
Senior Colts: In the Grand Final rematch the boys put up a huge effort to run away 5 goal winners. It was a physical game which didn't break open right un l the end. Our backline defended extremely well
Junior Colts: Notched up our first win for the season last week against robe, with a couple of our top age players back in the mix it really steadied our side which aloud us to do a few more rota ons through the field. A er not star ng the season off how we wanted to play we have been working really hard at training focusing on the areas that we wanted to be be er at and it really showed on the weekend. Couldn't fault the teams effort across all 4 quarters, robe came back at us a li le in the second quarter out scoring us going in to half me trailing by 7 points. We li ed that extra 10% that I ask the team at half me resul ng in kicking 3 goals to 0 in the 3rd quarter. Going in to the last quarter we have plenty of shots at goals kicking 1.7 and keeping robe scoreless in the second half of the game. Coaden Taylor and banjo morgen both kicking 3 goals each. Li le bit of goal kicking prac se this week but other than that I am happy how to team responded and the efforts to be first to the footy
Under 11: We travelled to Robe this week and team had a good close contest. We had worked on manning up at training and it was great to see them think about it more. The boys all played a great. Max, Thomas, Jameson, Mason and Johnny all played some great footy. Well done boys.

Junior Colts: Another good step forward for the boys this week. Midfielders Reed, Finn and Levi really showed their leadership and experience with an excellent performance. Jackson also played the best game of his season so far. He dominated in the backline and was involved in plenty of contests around the ball. Other big improvers were Mostyn and Eli. Both showed a lot of courage taking some big hits and making contests out of a tough matchup. Massive thanks to the Port Mac players who came across and helped out. They played a terrific game and gave it their all no ma er what side they were playing for.
Senior Colts: Last game we took on a very talented and fast ball moving bay side who gave us a real football lesson. We have plenty of work to do to achieve our goal and need to get back on track this weekend. Best players were Jackson Dean who worked hard all game. Brady Sharp was a focal point up forward. Levi theile up from junior colts was solid all game. Blake Brant stuck to his task and did what he was asked and Dallas Montuori tried hard all game doing all the important things. Big thanks to the bay for loaning us some players and the way they put in all game.
B Grade: On Saturday we were totally outclassed by a much more experienced and skilful Port MacDonnell side. The game was a good eye opener for the team about where we are at, individually and collec vely, and has given us plenty of things we need to work on. Kicking 1:6 was a poor return for the day and we failed again to capitalise on the scoring opportuni es we had, while at the other end we conceded too many easy goals.
Best players were Jacob Gregory who led from the front and worked hard all day long, Jack Hateley playing his first game of the year and Benny, Harry, Tommy & Braeden all had their moments. The draw doesn’t get any easy for us as we take on Hatherleigh this week. Thanks to the umpires and everyone that helped out on the day
A Grade: Round 4 saw us host Pt Mac @ Mt Burr. The Pt Mac boys proved too strong for us in the end and ran away big winners. Our boys gave everything in the first half but just couldn’t convert the big efforts into scores, Pt Mac on the other hand were able to score nearly every me they went forward. The second half saw Pt Mac con nue the scoreboard pressure while we began dropping like flies. Hopefully all from the weekend are able to recover quickly and bounce back this weekend. Congratula ons to Cohen Montuori who made his A Grade debut and didn’t look out of place, another great junior with an exci ng future. Best players were - Calum Sparkes who backed up a big game last week with another great performance against two strong senior ruckmen. Dylan Ridley who once again gave all he could and moved the ball well each me he touched it. Tay Allen whose relentless work rate keeps the 50/50 balls going our way. Knife Stanley who once again played strongly down back. Wil Bowering whose work rate doesn’t go unno ced and run without the ball creates so much for us. Geordie Whennen who played a variety of posi ons before heading down back and playing strongly in the second half. On to Hatherleigh this week for another big clash. Go Burr!

Junior Colts: It was a difficult day for our team last Saturday against a very undermanned Mt Burr. We sent 7 players across to make up the numbers and get a good hit out. It was great to see so many players put their hand up to play for the opposing team. It speaks volumes of the a tudes and mentality our team have. Thanks to the 14 players that went over during the game!! All players that went across put in a great performance which was pleasing to see as the ball moved back and forward freely allowing more of our younger players to get an opportunity. Watching these younger players move the ball and defend the way they did is only going to strengthen our team as the season progresses. Our encouragement awards went to Kade Gilmore for an outstanding job down back on usually much taller opposi on. TJ Howard with dash off a back flank and brilliant skills. Patrick Clarke who played his best game so far for the club and ended up kicking 2 goals. Caleb Morgan for some fantas c second and third efforts throughout the day. Beau Gilmore who’s playing his first season of footy and got plenty of ball in a forward pocket se ng up a couple of goals. Our best players went to Kane Gilbert who reads the footy so well off half back and through the centre of the ground. Harry Carroll who’s playing outstanding football, is super consistent and most importantly a team player who brings everyone into the game. Our captain Zane Lewis who was s ll on holidays early, but his work rate bought him into the game with another strong performance. Oliver Fox had a brilliant game across half forward and through the midfield, using the ball well with his silky le foot. Our raking le footer Brody Pra was excellent on both teams and has been a super addi on to our side. Kade Gilmore with a tough assignment down back but stood tall when needed to constantly stop his opposing player and rebounding the ball out of defence. Goal Kickers – Cayden Byrne 3, Patrick Clarke 2, Harry Carroll 1, Maison Byrne 1, Brody Pra 1, Jaxon Hulse 1 and Je Lewis 1. This week we have Nangwarry so as long as we con nue to focus on what we’ve been doing at training then I’m sure we’ll put in another good performance.
Senior Colts: Last week we travelled up to Mt Burr in some wintery condi ons. With some of their top players missing and being short, we s ll had to be up for the challenge. We started really well again, kicking some early goals and being a bit more accurate this week. The boys managed to keep the ball in the forward line very well with lots of pressure and good crumbing lead by Lincoln Bowd early. Our boys ran away with the game to come away with a 114 point win. In a great team effort we were able to try some things with the team, including vice captain Alex Lamb managing to kick 3 straight goals in the third quarter before heading back to the backline. Our ruck work and midfield work was really food throughout the game. Big thanks to the 8 boys that played half each for Mt Burr and s ll gave 100%. This is a great way of ge ng all the kids plenty of game me, rather than si ng on the bench and having to do lots of rota ons. Be er players were Kai Gilmore, who put on a skilful, smart display while managing 5 goals. Captain Riley Morgan worked relessly all day and was everywhere. Brodie Anderson con nues to come out of his shell each week, playing excep onal at centre half forward with 3 goals. Casey Wilson in the ruck has another great game with plenty of 2nd, 3rd efforts working really hard all day. Aidan Telford out
on his win has been quite consistent with plenty of run and 2nd and 3rd efforts as well. Rounding out the best players was Archie New who has been very composed since playing in the backline the last few games. Well done to the boys in another great team effort.
B Grade: Port MacDonnell 16.5 def Mt Burr 1.2. I don't know why I am always surprised by our team sheet when it's delivered to me because as I have said before B grade is a bit of a “Mystery Pick” but today, with pre y much half the team crossed out and enough biro names added to complete a short essay, it was a veritable who's who of past players and “mate ,I'll owe you a favour if you'll just pull on the boots “ personnel. I'm sure Addy must have shares in Telstra (when you can get service!) given how many phone calls it would have taken to get the players we had on the park, not to men on a promise or two, given their calibre. Weather at The Burr this early in the year is usually fair, but Saturday's arc c blast certainly let us know that football is a Winter sport. Luckily, the B's didn't have any rain during their game ,not so the Snr colts or A's, but it did make for slippery condi ons throughout the day. Aaron Harding had another blinder of a game, rucking in the centre at mes, running the flanks and even doing a s nt in the back lines to great effect. Add to that a bag of 5 big ones and you have the B.O G on a pla er! Isaac and Rory Na rass provided plenty of drive from the bounce and moved well together through the centre , while old heads Blake Lynch and Ma Roscow kept control of the ball as it came across the CHB and CHF lines and even scored a handy goal or three. Ducky O'Dine and Benny Mac came out of re rement giving us a focal point up front, boo ng 3 and 2 goals respec vely, showing that while the body may be slowing the skill level is s ll there. By half me we had a 6 goal lead ( the total of what we kicked last year to their 14!) , plenty of voice on the ground and thankfully even more senior colts on the bench ready to run as the air got thinner, colder and breathing got harder for some of the more “mature” players going up the mountain. Again big thanks to our Senior Colts, Bradley Neale, Alex Lamb, Deegan Habner, Archie New and Kur s Lasle for stepping up with full credit to Archie New who rucked like a champion during the last half and shows all the hallmarks of a young Will MacDonald in the making as he took on the packs in the centre. Ma “Mortal” Stark ranged all over the ground giving us some steadying passages of play, along with Jess Feast who showed some surprising turns of speed and bulldog tenacity around the packs. Kane Livingston and Jayden Maresh rounded out the “sherpa's” as we climbed higher toward that pinnacle win. Our Everest was achieved with a mighty 6 goal push in the last quarter and that winning feeling of looking out over the world was fantas c. This game was a real team effort and while I have no doubt each week that there will always be a ba le not only on the ground.. but in ge ng a team together to put on the ground, just remember, “The steeper the hill , the harder the climb, the be er the view from the finishing line” This week its Nangwarry at home and I'm sure there will be more surprises. Go Demons!
A Grade: It was a really good win for us against Mt Burr. Colby, Ned and Chris an were our top three players, they had really good games. It was the first game we played 4 good quarters. We’re looking forward to the next game to keep improving!

Nangwarry held the inaugural Mental Health Awareness day v Kalangadoo, a joint ini a ve by both clubs to keep conversa ons going amongst a normal round of footy & netball. Thanks to everyone who helped & gave huge posi ve feedback about the ini a ve & we look forward to Kalangadoo hos ng in 2024. Congratula ons to this year's senior Player of the Match medal winners, Ben Gregory & Abbey Duncan of Kalangadoo
We would like to individually thank our several Major Sponsors for suppor ng the Nangwarry Netball and Football Club for season 2023. This week we acknowledge The Pines Hotel and Blue Lake Bar and Bistro
Both Crammy and Bill are big supporters of Nangwarry and many others in the community
Looking forward to see what we can muster up against pt mac next week, should be a cracking match.
Senior Colts: We faced Kalangadoo today, both teams have been struggling for numbers so far this year, but was great to see both teams get together with some outside help to produce a great game of footy. Our boys started slow kicking into the wind with the doo pu ng 4 goals to 1 in the first term. We fought back hard in the 2nd with the wind kicking 4 goals and narrowing the lead to 10 points. The 3rd qtr came and that brought more wind and also rain, unfortunately we let Kalangadoo kick away in the 3rd leading by 5 goals going in to the last. We had the wind and the boys were up and about we kicked the first 3 goals ge ng it back to 12 straight points, our boys were red from pu ng up a great fight and Kalangadoo kicked a couple late goals to push away and win by only a few goals. Was a fantas c game by the boys se ng a game goal of 8 goals which we succeed at be er players were Angus Urquhart, Archer Virtanen, Noah Virtanen, Toby Zerk, Benne Moy and Tayte Virtanen.
Blue Lake Bar and Bistro offers a lot from a round golf, the driving range, mini pu pu , to meals. However having a func on why not give Bill a call and support those who ma er
The Pines Hotel dining room is open every night of the week for dinner and from Wednesday to Saturday for lunches. Counter meals are also available in the front bar during these mes. They offer an excellent range of red wines, not only from the local area, but all over Australia. There are five different beers on tap and also have a good range of premium beers available. Spor ng clubs would not survive without sponsorship, so we thank you very much.
Under 11: Exci ng day for the under 11s started really strong and ran well with the kdoo kids. Took a bit to get going but once we started a acking the footy and crashing contests we looked the goods. Can never fault the kids effort and excitement levels on the day, some really good footy played and plenty to be posi ve about.
Junior Colts: Sensa onal game of footy from our under 14s! Full credit to kdoo kids, they really threw everything at us and kept us accountable for 4 quarters. The boys have stayed strong and played quality footy under immense pressure for our 3rd straight win. Our usual suspects Tayte and Harvey Virtanen, Jordan Edwards and Joshy Manninen toiled hard all day and made the most of their opportuni es with the ball. But it was the likes of Jack Barry - who marked everything that came his way and tackled like a lad possessed. Jimmy Manninen - who you'd swear brought his own footy out there and would need some ice on his right boot with amount of kicks he had and Blake Heron - who ran hard both ways all day and was a menace for kdoo forwards throughout.
B Grade: O when the Saints go marching in, what a fantas c win. It was a credit to both sides for playing out the game but there can only be one winner. To be si ng third on the ladder says something about the playing group they have bonded very well this season. We have another big game this week against the Bay boys so we will need to be at our best, and that can only happen if we all get out on the track. Best Sco y, Schmi a, Hoody, Chunder, Sam, and a special men on to Calia. Goals Calia 2, Sam 2, Hagget 1, Hayden Jolley 1. Cheers, go the Saints!
A Grade: We hosted Kalangadoo in the inaugural Mental Health Awareness Match - a great ini a ve led by Celeste and Boxy. The match was played in good spirits and remained a compe ve contest to the final siren. We didn't make the most of our opportuni es in front of goal with points being the flavour of the day. A er some good passages throughout the first quarter Kalangadoo with their experience made more of their opportuni es however our scoreboard wasn't reflec ve of our forward 50 entries but our signs were good. We li ed and maintained our intensity for the remaining 3 quarters. We con nue to improve in key areas of the game and overall we are developing well as a side and our progress is looking very posi ve moving forward. Best players for the day were Jack Pudney, Tyler Virgo, Jake Biggs, Joel Virtanen, Isaac Raymond and Jacob Hutchesson. This week we venture down to the Bay and we look forward to the contest.

football club notes
What a special day for Kalangadoo FC as one of our favourite home grown heroes ran out in the black and white for the 200th me in the seniors. The list of achievements for Benny is only matched by his humility and want for the club to remain successful well into the future and watching the next genera on run around in the U11’s with some very handy father son prospects what an exci ng future its set to be.
senior colts
junior colts
Junior Colts: With a big win the week before the young Maggies were set to try and repeat this effort and looked to be evenly matched against the Saints with both sides having plenty of handy players. The 1st quarter showed the evenness of the sides with either side unable to trouble the scorers. The second and third quarters remained very ght and even with only a couple of gaols being scored and Nangwarry taking a 7 point lead into the last break. Both sides defended hard in the last with the Maggies holding the saints scoreless but couldn’t manage a major despite having plenty of ther ball to fall 5 points short on the siren. Best players went to Lachy McCann, Joe Box, Elodie Burr, Nathaniel Cooper, Nathaniel Murdoch & Preston Lydeamore.
Senior Colts: With both sides a li le short on numbers we welcomed and shared some South U18’s under dual affilia on for the day and the crowds were treated to a quality game of football from both sides. Nato was on early with the 1st few centre clearances proving ample opportunity for the forwards in an open forward line to get off to a fly with 4 in the 1st. The rest of the game ebbed and flowed with plenty of highlights during the game, Cody Hu on & Nato scoring their 1st goals for the year/club although jury is out if Nates was a pass or not, welcoming new player in Erryn Carrigan-Kemp to the club, Brycie & Connor both kicking mul ple goals, Coops run and silky finishing and the south boys mixing in and playing some good footy. Best players Brycie, Coop, Nato, Cody who con nues to improve each week & Connor
B Grade: A very disappoin ng game for Kalangadoo B Grade last week against Nangwarry with the Saints being fi er and harder at the contest which in the end enabled them to
win a very close game. Our more experienced players of Liam Hay, Nathan Reeves and Jacob Simmonds were our best players with their endeavour and willingness to compete at every stoppage really evident. In a posi ve the younger players who stepped up from the Senior Colts to play in Cooper McCann and Bruce Von StankieDowie (in his first game) were fantas c and were also named in the best players. An opportunity to try and bounce back this week against Tantanoola which will also be a tough contest.
A Grade: Is there any be er way to start your 200th game then being able to put through the 1st major of the day and have everyone up and about? That was the case as Benny slo ed the 1st major within minutes of the opening siren and the 1st quarter con nued in the same manner as the size and class of the Maggies shown through registering 7 majors to 2 behinds in the 1st with Dylan looking menacing up forward and the mids in Tye, Lachy & Sam controlling the midfield. The second quarter was tougher as Nangwarry li ed their intensity and slowed the scoring down early but we managed to get a roll on late in the quarter and all be it from some inaccurate kicking could have been further in front at the half. The 3rd quarter was a repeat of the 1st as we had the scoring end, Gregs was ge ng busy and was working his way into the contest and proving to be a real handful controlling the CHF area and proving plenty of opportuni es for the small forwards. With a commanding posi on in the last Lynsey asked to finish off the game strong and while the saint managed a few goals late we s ll managed 4 in the last to record a convincing win to celebrate Benny’s 200th. Best players went to Ben Gregory, Tye McManus, Dylan Bromley, Sam McManus, Jack O’Connor & Lachy Jones.
Congratula ons to both Ben Gregory & Abbey Duncan on the inaugural Mental Health Awareness Round medal winners.
Make sure you hang around the club a er the game this weekend for presenta ons and a feed plus make sure you have your teams organised for the annual Kdoo Table tennis tournament.

Gold Sponsors –Glen Johnson Bowen, Moreland Holdings, The Property Co SA and Globe Hotel. Corporate Sponsors –Holla Fresh, Iberdrola and Somerset Hotel.
Under 11: A er star ng the season strong with great ball movement against Robe and the Burr they followed it through to a another strong game against Nangwarry!! The young fellas con nue to surprise me around the ground, whatever posi on I put them in they all give it 100%! Best players were Jobe Bell - Fasta Pasta, Lawson Baker - McDonalds and Joey WeirWendy's.
Junior Colts: Last week we came out against Nangwarry and we started well kicking the first couple of goals. But unfortunately a er that we seemed to think the game was ours and gonna be given to us. We blew a lot of chances and were all willing to a ack but not defend. Our young boys lost by a goal with ten seconds to go and we learnt the hard way that no game of footy is ever given to you, we need to turn it around and start training the way we want to play and all use a lot more posi ve voice. Best players in
no order were Kaden, Grace, Hunts and two of our youngest boys played some brilliant bits of footy in Jack Rowe and Harley Chapple. Thanks to all parents and senior players that are helping out with all our jobs this year it's great to see.
Senior Colts: Unfortunately there was no game due to Nangwarry forfei ng .
Reserves: Up against Nangwarry this week at home and had a big task ahead. With 12 unanswered shots at goal, they set the tone early. A hard fought ba le and with a quick 5 goals from us in the last quarter, they had done enough to get them over the line. Jamie Williamson picked out best player, Zane Walker, Hamish Thompson, James Bachelor and Nick Joy in our best.
Seniors: Today was the day a lot of us senior players had been looking forward to, playing Nangwarry at home. A er last year losing to them and what come to follow we had a good chance of redemp on and prove to ourselves that what we have constantly been trying to do is working. We started the first quarter with the wind and made the most of it. We should've been a lot more in front we just unfortunately couldn't kick straight and our skills let us down. The second quarter we were le flat footed and allowed them back in the game, with our worst quarter of the year and with a lack of effort. But to our credit we came back out a er the break with a very strong performance. We played some very good team football which would've been great for the Tantanoola supporters to see. No player stood out, it was a great team performance, but we s ll have a lot to work on and are looking forward to some great challenges in the next few weeks. Best players in no order Cade Kelly, Cam Saint, Ellis Cushion, Braydn Reilly, Jordy Ha and Troy Ha .

Welcome to Round 5 of Mid-South Eastern Football League. Last week saw us head to Kongorong in very cold condi ons with a day served up its first round of heavy rainfall for the year. This week we host Robe on our home deck. Our home game sponsor this week is O'Brien Electrical. Thanks to Dane, Bonnie and the team for their support this year again.
Junior Colts: Last week the Minis got us off to a good start to the day. They got some revenge on last year’s Grand Final loss and came away with a comfortable 20point win, 5.10.40 to 3.2.20. It was close for all of the game un l the last quarter though when we ran over the top of them and kicked the last few goals. Excellent form for the kids the last few weeks and great to get a win like that in wet condi ons and in a physical match. Best players were Hamish Gordon, Jed Sinkunas, Kallan Price, Sam Haase, Kade Mulraney and Les Jagger
Senior Colts: The Senior Colts came up against an opposi on also looking for their first win of the year. However, we came out of the blocks slow and gave them a 5-goal lead at quarter me. By half me we were down by 7 goals. In the second half there were only 2 goals kicked and s ng had gone out of the game. We went down 1.9.15 to 9.8.62. The boys have managed to defend well against mul ple sides so far, but just need to consistently keep up for 4 quarters and find mul ple avenues to score. Best players were Lachlan Brierley, Brodie Pfitzner, Brodie Burdon, Patrick Langsmith, Marcus McGrath and Tobi Signorelli.
B Grade: The Reserves were again suffering from player unavailability and injury, with only 14 players on Thursday. Pie managed to get a side together by game me, but then mul ple injuries during the game did not help any sort of rota ons either. Special men on to Brodie Pfitzner who played Senior Colts, filled in for the
Reserves and then boundary umpired A Grade, pu ng his hand up when no one else would. To make ma ers worse for the Reserves they came up against a very good side who had a lot more pace than us and con nued to run all game long. Our defence tried their best to stop as many goals as possible, but unfortunately, the ball just spent the majority of the game in our defensive 50. We really struggle to find targets up the field and move the ball at pace as we were was ng all of our energy on defending. The final score was 0.0.0 to 21.8.134. Best players Darcy Williamson, Ben Curran, Jayson Finnis, Sam Hentschke, Isaac Stubberfield and Trent Hawke.
A Grade: Our Seniors will be disappointed with their game as they came away with a loss 11.6.72 to 16.18.114. In a very physical game where a lot of things didn't go our way we would have been hoping to have the score line looking a lot different. It didn't help having 4 injured players and 4 others play 2 games, but you can only deal with what you have. We had the week off and should have been fresh and raring to go, but the 2nd quarter let us down, giving up 8 goals to 1. This was the difference in the game even though we outscored them in the 2nd half. Hail started to fall in the 2nd half and some extra smoke from the local area made any sort of a comeback even more difficult. The ground started to become extremely muddy in a lot of areas and we didn't adapt as well as the home side. A big test this week as the boy's face Robe. Best players were Patrick Mitchell, Dylan Childs, Henry Smith, Jack Edmonds, Will Maloney and Ben
This week we are holding our Beer Pong Tournament at the club a er the Robe game. We look forward to seeing who comes out as the winners and everybody's costumes.
See you at the footy

Junior Colts: A er a good week on the track, we went into the game against Hatherleigh confident that we could improve on our previous performance. A er a compe ve and even first half, we went into the long break with a 7 point lead. A er the half me break, we let ourselves down as a team, by not everyone doing what we had spoken about and commi ed to. This resulted in a scoreless second half of the game, which was disappoin ng. The boys understand that they are be er than that performance, and that they can turn things around this week against Glencoe. Heads up boys! Believe in yourselves and walk off the oval knowing that you have done your very best: that you have done everything that you could have possibly done to help your teammates and to win the game. Incen ve awards: The Union Cafe' award went to John Hinchliffe-for another inspira onal 4 quarter effort. Denton Sports Power award went to Brodie Dew - for a totally commi ed, team orientated performance. Players who really contributed for all 4 quarters were: Spencer, Conrad, John, Flynn, Brodie, and Byron. Now for today; back yourselves in boys. Believe in yourselves, and do not take a backward step. It is me to deliver by doing what we have been prac cing. CokaddodleDO!
B Grade: Coming up against the reigning premiers was always going to be a challenge. With numbers back in the side this week, we had a great opportunity to knock off Hatherleigh for the first me in a few years. The first quarter saw us quite flat and chasing from behind the whole me. Luckily Hatherleigh couldn't kick straight and they piled on mostly points and 1 goal for the quarter. Our accuracy le us going into quarter me just a few points down. The message at quarter me was simple. Wake up, hit the contest hard and start to play our type of football.
For the rest of the game it was hard fought out with patches of both sides playing great football. With 4 minutes to go in the last quarter the scores where es 45 all. We had controlled most of the ball down our end for the quarter but couldn't capitalise on our forward 50 entries. Hatherleigh finished off by kicking 2 point and 1 goal to end up winning by 8 points. Respect goes out to Hatherleigh for a strong game and we look forward to ba ling it out in the second half of the year Well done to a few people who had some jobs for the day, Nick Hurst and Dougal Day where strong down back and Crossy, Bram and Paddy where strong in the middle all day. Being 2 and 2 a er 4 rounds we are looking to head to Glencoe to have a good game and hopefully come home with a win. Go Roosters!
A Grade: The Robe oval had held up well with respect to the amount of rain that had fallen on Robe in the past week and as usual, as Hatherleigh are great supporters, a large crowd was in a endance. They were treated to an entertaining match containing hard but fair contests and good skills from both sides. Robe welcomed back Deane, Wachtel, Miller, Huebner and Du on into the side and those inclusions had a significant impact upon the match. Robe is a well drilled team and are the players are commi ed to follow the structures that Coach Brown has put in place, and it was this commitment to the team structure and the willingness to assist teammates that resulted in the Roosters running out winners. Deane controlled centre half back, Lawrie the midfield and Wachtel centre half forward. The remainder of the team all played their roles with Brown and Henschke chipping in with some clever football to ensure that Robe remain undefeated a er four rounds.

HATHERLEIGH v MOUNT BURR
The Mozzies head to Hatherleigh this weekend to face off against the Eagles in the match of the round. Mount Burr’s strong defensive line-up of Megan Thiele and Olivia Dean combine well and will work over me to put the pressure on for Hatherleigh goalies Demi Vanderhorst and Maddie Pulmer. Hatherleigh’s Lara MacGregor, Elly Redden and Maddie Redman are able to use their height well in the defensive end, ge ng their hands to balls and crea ng turnovers, meaning Mount Burr’s Ebony Clark, Lauren Wheeler and Ella Easterby will need to work the ball into the circle with pa ence. Tegan Telfer and Laura Schultz will both fight hard through the mid court to create turnovers for their respec ve teams, figh ng for any poten al loose balls to convert through their goal circles. This game will be a ght tussle, with the opportunity for either team to come away with the win.
PORT MACDONNELL v NANGWARRY
A er an unse led game for the Saints in Round 4, they head down to the Bay to play off against Port MacDonnell in round five. Demons goalies Kori Collins and Megan Hein combine well in the circle and shoot with accuracy. Nangwarry’s defenders, Kayla Gray and Chrystal Lock, will have to work hard to create turnovers for their goalies, Cassie Dinnison and Demi Hoffmeister to convert. Port MacDonnell’s Liza Mutch and Shannon Schiedl flow the ball down the court well and feed into their goalies with ease. Port MacDonnell defenders Alana Berkefeld and Alysha Coon will apply pressure through the defensive circle and create turnovers. This game will likely go the way of the home team.
KALANGADOO v TANTANOOLA
Kalangadoo host the Tigers this weekend in what will be a ght game. Kalangadoo have proven to be a strong side this season, however Tantanoola will come out firing, hoping to get another win on the board. Tantanoola defenders Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe will need to work over me to create turnovers before the ball reaches the hands of Kalangadoo’s capable goalies Abbey Duncan and Lara Munro. Down the other end of the court Tantanoola’s Jami Walker and Keryl Ousey combine well in the goal circle but will need to shoot with accuracy as any rebounds will be snatched up by Magpies Lauren Kain and Georgia Gen le. This game has the poten al to be close and could go either way.
GLENCOE v ROBE
Robe and Glencoe face off this weekend in what could poten ally be a close game. Both teams will be figh ng to get another win under their belts, and both with three wins apiece. Glencoe’s strength in the goal circle through Jenna Paproth and Chantelle Cocks will be well matched with Robe’s defenders Emma Wheal and Georgia Perkins. Annie Regnier and Donna Jaeschke will have a ght tussle through the midcourt, with both players figh ng to gain possession of any loose balls, and ge ng their hands over passes to create turnovers. Robe goalies Tori Gluyas and Demi Carter are both able to shoot with accuracy throughout the ring, however they will need to be fed well from outside of the circle to avoid Murphies Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen from ge ng their hands to ball and crea ng turnovers. There are lots of great matchups down the court for these two teams and this will definitely be a game to watch.
