200 a grade GameS for tant’s hayden brown Hayden Brown, or be er known as ‘H’, will today grace the turf for his beloved Tigers for his 200th A Grade game. A person who bleeds red and white, started his football journey for Tantanoola at an early age in the Junior Colts. It wasn't long before his natural talent was on show, winning best and fairest awards in the Junior and Senior Colts as well as coming runner-up in both grades. In 2006 he played his first A Grade game and went on to play in the Tigers’ first premiership in 20 years under coach Adam Walden. ‘H’ was captain of the Under 17 Interleague side and came runner-up in the League Best and Fairest award in that year. 2009 saw him captain the Mid SE Under 19 Interleague side. He has been captain numerous mes
for the Tigers A Grade side, a role in which he leads from the front every me he steps out on the field. His a ack on the ball and natural leadership is something all Tant supporters have seen in every game he has played in the red and white. His work off the field is something the club is also grateful for, and he has coached both Junior and Senior Colts sides, been the assistant coach of the A Grade and played an ac ve role on the commi ee for numerous years. His list of other achievements is as follows: • 2006 was a member of the A Grade premiership and captain of the successful Senior Colts side. • 2006 Runner-Up Senior Colts League Best and Fairest.

He will be cheered on by his family, partner Shae, Corey, Billy, and Abbi. Congratula ons ‘H’. Go Tigers!
VIEW FROM THE HILL No surprises this week as all matches went to script and the ladder is star ng to take shape as we head into the la er half of the first round. Kongorong did it again! Played a great first half, went missing in the third and had to play catch up footy in the last. Coach Will Whi y must be pulling out what hair he has, but at least they are ge ng closer to playing four quarters of footy. Robe came into the game with quite a few changes with the nephew of former player John Dunn, in Kane making his A Grade debut. A er a very even first half where neither side were willing to give an inch, Robe definitely li ed their work rate a er half me. Great to see big Sco Fleming giving 100%, as were the Cordy boys and young Corben O'Dea definitely one to watch for the home side. For Robe, Mr Everywhere, Zac Deane is in career best form and with the likes of Tom Wachtel, Tom Williams and Jordan Pe t, Robe's midfield started to get on top in the third quarter, giving their forwards first op on with the footy. The only blemish to Robe's scorecard was their accuracy in front of goal as they finished with 19 behinds from 30 scoring shots. Kongorong didn't lie down in the last and fought on well, but it was too li le too late for the Hawks. No surprises in Robe's best players with Zac Deane again ge ng the nod for BOG honours, followed by Wachtel, Williams, Pe t, Jack Sneath and Ben Jarre . For Kongorong Ma Cordy was named their best with Ma Weistra, Bryn Weaver, O'Dea and Fleming the home sides official best. Kalangadoo welcomed home their 2001 premiership side and bestowed life membership to Brian Casey at their home match against Nangwarry – well deserved Brian. A true champion for not only the Kalangadoo Football Club but also the MSEFL as well. Taking out three Mail Medals, he epitomises the truism of Best and Fairest. Now to the game. Nangwarry were up and about early and although realis cally they were never going to win the match, they were determined that Kalangadoo were going to have to earn it, it wasn't going to be simply handed to them on a pla er. In a rela vely even first quarter and although Nangwarry weren't able to bother the scorers, Kalangadoo could only score 3-6. I get the feeling the Kalangadoo bench weren't that impressed with the first quarter effort and the playing group were told in no uncertain terms to get their act together, as they came out a er ¼ me pu ng through an impressive 11-6 for the second term whilst s ll restric ng Nangwarry to no score. The third quarter was a much more even affair, and Nangwarry coach Luke Thomson would've been justly pleased with his side endeavour to kick 5 of their 6 goals for the match, but by then the heat had gone out of the game and Kalangadoo recorded a comfortable 23 goal win. For the visitors young Tom Vanderhorst was named best on ground
with Jake McKeon, George McWaters, Luke Thomson, Ben Dinnison and Aaron Hill Nangwarry's other be er players. For the home side Michael Krieger got BOG honours with a great game and kicking 9 goals. Other be er players were Andrew Stone, Ty McManus, Lacy Jones, Tom Williams and Ma Fatchen. Down at the Bay and Port MacDonnell are firming as a top four contender a er domina ng Tantanoola in their match. They controlled the game from go to whoa, domina ng the centre clearances with strong ruck and midfield set ups and then delivering to a plethora of strong marking forwards. A er a reasonably even first quarter Port MacDonnell poured on the pressure with the likes of Daron McElroy, Timmy Sull and Ben McGregor picking up possessions at will and delivering with pinpoint accuracy to the forward line. Tantanoola were behind all day, on the ground and the scoreboard and had few winning posi ons. Jack Dawe, Chris Oliver, Roy Osborne, Hayden Brown and Brad White tried hard all day in another very disappoin ng day for the Tigers. Dylan Bromley for the home side finished the day with 6 goals, 'Roo' contributed 4 along with seven other individual goal scorers. For Tantanoola, Jack Dawe with 2 was their only mul ple goal kicker. Be er players for Port MacDonnell went the way of Daron McElroy, who must surely be racking up the Mail Medal votes, Ned Wilke, Dylan Bromley, Mark Smith, Tim Sullivan and Ma Stark. For the visitors Jack Dawe was clearly their best with Chris Oliver, Will Scanlon, Jack Pearce and Ellis Cushion the other be er players ge ng the nod from the bench. At Glencoe the home side was given a football lesson by the visi ng Hatherleigh Eagles who dominated play right from the first bounce. With clean possession and plenty of players prepared to spread and run the home side was simply outclassed. The Glencoe backline were doing their best, but the cream of Hatherleigh rose to the top me and me again, with the ball in Hatherleigh's forward half for the majority of the game. Hatherleigh at mes had so many op ons they confused themselves, but with li le pressure being applied by the opposi on they were able to con nue on their merry way. Hatherleigh's a ack on the ball and any opposi on ball winner was second to none as they relentlessly applied pressure all game. Glencoe's usual ball winners were well held and they had no answer to the well-drilled Hatherleigh side. Glencoe's cause wasn't helped with the absence of key players in Zacc Cocks (knee, out for season), Clay VonDuve (injury), Mick McRae (unavailable) and Ma Scanlon, who sustained a leg injury in the pre-game warm up. They also lost speedy wingman Brodie Glynn early in the second quarter with what looked like an ankle injury. On the plus side, coach Frazer Scanlon made his long-awaited debut in the maroon and gold and although
lacking a li le match fitness didn't look out of place. For Hatherleigh Joe Ferguson-Lane and Mikey Telford finished the day with 3 goals each, both of whom had the ball on a string for a fair bit of the game, as well as 8 other individual goal scorers. Be er players for Hatherleigh, and you really could've named all 21 as they didn't have a passenger all day, went the way of Zach Jones, Luke MacGregor, Will Chay, Jordan Galpin, Mikey Telford and Louis Brown. For Glencoe, it was also hard to pick be er players, but for all the wrong reasons, and not surprising the backline players were rewarded for their efforts with Dylan Pfitzner, Tom Edwards, Dane Paproth, Patrick Mitchell, Declan Hurley and Dylan Childs named Glencoe's best. To this week's matches and the match of the day will be down at Hatherleigh where they host a rampaging Kalangadoo. Both sides are built on good local talent with a few handy recruits thrown in to compliment the playing list. Both sides like to spread and run, and switch play at every opportunity and on the big ground down at Hatherleigh this might just give the home side the edge. However, Kalangadoo are a very cohesive unit and I expect that they will coming out firing on all cylinders. They are a hard nut to crack and they will use their toughness around the contest to in midate and bully their much younger opponents, that's if they can catch them! It's hard to split them in what is going to be a cracking game of footy. Robe host Glencoe where I would expect the home side to win comfortably. Robe's ruck and midfield will con nue to dominate and unless Glencoe can welcome back the likes of Clay Von Duve, Mick McRae and Brodie Glynn, it's going to be very long, tough day at the office. Another loss to the Murphies and you can just about rule a line through them for season 2021. They might be able to help shape the four, but I can't see them there in August. As for Robe they sit top, undefeated and travel to Kalangadoo next week so they won't want to drop this game heading into next week. In the next two games, Nangwarry host Port MacDonnell and Tantanoola host rivals Mt Burr. Both games are expected to go the way of the visitors, the challenge for the home sides to concentrate on winning each individual quarter. Nangwarry have shown in recent weeks that they have the ability to match many of the sides in the compe on, just not consistently for four quarters. While for Port MacDonnell they may elect to rest some of their players as the next three weeks sees them come up against Hatherleigh, Robe and Kongorong. Mt Burr will be fresh from the week off and I expect they will show no mercy to their rivals in Tantanoola. On paper Tantanoola aren't a bad side, if they can start well and put a few goals on the board their confidence will grow and may even make a game of it.
COVER story
no little feat by ella The Mount Burr Under 11 team is lucky enough to have newly crowned Limestone Coast Women’s Football League A Grade Best & Fairest, Ella Li le as their coach. Having recently ended her first year as captain of the Millicent women's team by being named the league Best & Fairest, Ella will now take on the coaching role of the team where she began her football journey. With a 200 game premiership player as a father (Jamie), and four uncles on her mother Emma's side (James, Sco , Ma and Tom) all winning A Grade flags at Mount Burr, Ella has had no shortage of players to model her game on. Ella started her career in the Mount Burr Under 11 team at age 7 in 2010. She con nued playing Under 11s for several seasons before moving into the Under 14s and winning a flag in 2017 under Mount Burr junior guru Maurie Puia . Having run out of op ons to con nue with football in the MSE, Ella joined Millicent in the under 14/15 boy's compe on in 2018-19, winning the Most Determined and Most Consistent awards. During these years Ella's talent was recognised by Glenelg and she was asked to join their underage programs such as the women's Super-Shield compe on, where she was further selected in the Adelaide Crows Junior Development Squad and later invited to train with senior Glenelg women's team. Having made the transi on to the Millicent senior team in the Limestone Coast Women's Football League, Ella was selected in the Team of the Year in 2019/20 and chosen to represent the league at the SA Country Championships Carnival in Port Pirie. In 2020 Ella travelled to Adelaide weekly to play with the Morphe ville Park Women's Football Club in both the under 18 and senior teams. With Millicent being eliminated from the LCWFL finals, Ella plans to again travel to Adelaide to represent Morphe ville Park and Glenelg.
mitchell to play 50th a grade game today Today Patrick Mitchell will play his 50th A Grade game for the Glencoe Football Club. Patrick's Mid South East football days began back in 2010 when he first began playing Junior Colts for the Glencoe Football Club. Even in his early days on the field it was clear that he had the talent and drive to be a future A grader, regularly represen ng the Mid South East in Junior Carnivals; featuring in the 2013/14 Under 14, 2015 Under 15, and 2016/17/18 Under 17 Interleague sides. Patrick has also demonstrated his excellence at a club level captaining the Junior Colts in 2014 while also leading the
goalkicking and winning the club Best and Fairest in that same year. This trend con nued into his Senior Colts career where he won the 2015 goalkicking award before being awarded Senior Colts Best and Fairest in the 2016 season. Since returning from college and establishing himself in the Glencoe A Grade side, Patrick has con nually improved and has now established himself as one of the most important and consistent players within the team. The Glencoe Football Club wish Patrick all the best today in his 50th game, and look forward to many more with the Murphies.

Under 11: Another good turnout as we travelled to Glencoe early Saturday morning. With Glencoe also having some good numbers it was a great contest to watch. Some really good play throughout the game it's really pleasing to see some of the bigger kids looking to bring the smaller kids in to the game kicking and handballing to the team mate in the best posi on. Again the shepherding to help the ball carrier break in to space was a highlight well done to all. Each week as we take to the field we are all learning about each other's strengths and developing an understanding of how we play together as a team. Great job everyone. Award winners for the day were: $10 Dentons Sports Power award - James Ma hews con nues to find the ball and read the play well; HFC $5 award - Balin Thomas had his best game for the year and gave out some great handballs to his team mates; Ladies Commi ee award - Leni Haines had a good day and is growing in confidence each week ba ling in against some bigger kids; McDonalds award - Caine Ballantyne also had a good crack at ge ng in amongst the ac on using his size to his advantage well done Caine. Junior Colts: We headed over to Glencoe last week where we were lucky to come away with the win. The team played an awesome game and everyone contributed there part to the win. We mixed the posi ons up at the half way mark giving some of our bo om age players a chance to experience different posi ons and they all took to the challenge. Best players: Ollie Fitzgerald (Dentons Sportspower), Hudson Nowak (Millicent Toy kingdom), Riley Prouse (Stumpy Nilsson), Teej Lawlor (Peter Walters), Charlie Sims and Brayden Chambers (Ladies commi ee canteen). Senior Colts: This week was definitely a solid 4 quarter effort from the boys. Coming up against a top 4 side in Glencoe, they showed grit and class throughout the game.

Harvey was excep onal snagging 6 goals while swapping in the midfield. Joel proved once again why he's an awesome teammate with dozens of 1% efforts. Zac, Kaden, Je , Bowie and Paddy also had great games once again. Special men on to Will Watson who snagged his first goal of the year and finished with 2 for the day. Reserves: Off to Spud Hill for round 5 where we were greeted by sunshine yet again. We started the game well but were inaccurate in front of goals in the first quarter. A couple of yellow cards in the second quarter meant we were 2 players short on the field and Glencoe began to take advantage of this before half me. We came out in the third quarter with a quick couple of goals whilst s ll being undermanned which gave us plenty of confidence. Whilst s ll being inaccurate in front of goal we were able to take the upper hand and run away comfortable winners. Best players: Rhino with another great game; Kainy around the ground and up forward; Raysa being Raysa; Rural, Gilbo and Thorny rounded them out. A Grade: Our boys took on Glencoe down there on a perfect day for football, with a focus on ge ng a good start and playing four quarters. We came out of the blocks with a lot of run and carry moving the ball well and giving our forwards plenty of opportuni es, going into the main break with a good lead we were determined to come back out and keep our brand of footy going. With a solid work rate and team football we con nued to push forward in the second half and finished with a 99 point win. Zach Jones and Mikey Telford found plenty of football in the middle while Joe Ferg and Max Telfer led the way up forward with 3 goals each, Luke Macgregor and Will Chay were outstanding down back giving nothing to their opponents while also providing plenty of a ack from our backline. This week we look forward to hos ng a big match against Kalangadoo.

Round 5 saw Kalangadoo host close neighbours Nangwarry. Another perfect winters day made for some blow out scores across the 4 grades. 2 of which went to Nangwarry and 2 to Kalangadoo. Under 11: Last week's Mini's game saw a clash of the cousins with Frank and Leo Mules going head to head with the Manninen boys! It was another solid performance by the under 11's. Every week the group is learning more and more about football! They are all developing at a rapid rate. The future looks well and truly bright for Kalangadoo, with 25 kids taking part last week. Junior Colts: Once again we were undersized against a big and powerful Nangwarry team. But like results from week's past, size doesn't seem to scare off our small team. Tenacious tackling was a feature of last week's game. Led by Oli Gregory and Joe Box, the kids didn't give up all day. Unfortunately the score didn't reflect the hard work and effort put in. Keep working hard! Senior Colts: A lack of experience within the group led to a blow out loss last week. Captain and current A Grade team member Jet Mules was unavailable due to an ankle sprain, which really affected our ability to win the ball from the stoppages. Like I said last week it is becoming really clear that there is a good and keen core group of players within this team. The lack of con nuity within the group, having played only a handful of games is a major reason why last week's game blew out. But I'm sure with sustained hardwork and playing more games together, results will come. Be pa ent and con nue to strive for the best! Reserves: Nangwarry came out to play in the 1st half, they were hard, clean and wanted the ball. Kalangadoo had one of their most inexperienced teams in recent years on the park. Lucky enough our "old heads" se led the game down and ran out victors by a comfortable 66 points. Cult figures Nathan Auld and Nealy came in for their 1st and 2nd games for the year. Nealy sported a new, very unique haircut last week. An afro cut into a mullet! This week against Hatherleigh will be a test of
2nd qtr
3rd qtr
character, we will have to play well as a team to overcome them on their own deck. Seniors: We started last week with 8 starters out. It was really pleasing to see the club’s outstanding depth as we kicked 27 goals to 6. Tommy Jerome came in for his 1st senior game and kicked 2 goals! He competed hard all game and did not miss a beat! Kriegs, or as he can now be called "Spray Gun" kicked a whopping 10 goals 8 points! Along with claiming B.O.G. honours. Starky was pleased with how the boys moved the ball last week, looking laterally and punching our switches were key focuses heading into the game. Both of which were executed really well. We play a quick, well drilled Hatherleigh this week on their home deck, which will be a great test of our system. 20 years ago, Kalangadoo drew a Grand Final to Nangwarry. Coming from an imposing 58 points down at half me. What transpired a er the main break was truly something to behold. Kalangadoo, led by the Mules', Durbidge's, PC, BC, Telfo, Killa and Laney went onto draw that Grand Final. We then went on to win the replay by 10 goals and win one of, if not the most historic and memorable premierships in the club’s history! The whole crew celebrated in style up at the Commersh on Friday night. 2001 Captain Benny worked relessly for months to set up a great night. Well done to all who contributed! It was great to see you all around the South East again. Saturday saw the boys roll in to "The Home of Footy" and con nue their celebra ons. Club legend and G.O.A.T. Brian Casey travelled all the way from Perth. The commi ee saw an opportunity (which previously has been a logis cal nightmare) and awarded him his Life Membership. A true gentleman on and off the field, he joins an illustrious list of club legends! Bring on Round 6 as we head to Hatherleigh. It will be tough, but hopefully we can keep this momentum rolling forward as a club and come away with 4 really important wins. Go Maggies!

Junior Colts: We travelled down to Kongorong eager to get back on the winners list but were met by a talented Kongorong side who were up for the fight. The first quarter was a real arm wrestle with only the one goal scored between the two sides. The rest of the game was controlled largely by Kongorong with us not being able to capitalise on the scoreboard when going inside 50. Best players for the day were Kaiden Carter, Charles Moore, Taj Boundy, Mason Mckenny and Vinnie Moore. We are back at home again this week so hopefully we can get back on the right side of the ledger. Jack Sneath. Senior Colts: Last week we trekked down to Kongorong hoping to cement our spot on the top of the table. We always had a fierce rivalry with Kongorong and it was clear both sides were in for the tussle. The day was set for a ripping game at Kongorong with the sun coming out from behind the clouds and shining brightly. A er coming off a bye it was a huge danger game, as so o en teams start slowly a er a week off. The game lived up to the hype with both teams a acking the ball and body hard. It was a very defensive game from both teams, with the ball rebounding from each teams half back making it a low scoring affair. The Robe boys managed to kick 1 goal to Kongorong's 1 point at quarter me. In the second quarter Robe managed to kick another goal but also missed some opportuni es as the ball entered the forward line mul ple mes. Robe forwards Codee Weston and Max Roberton looked dangerous around the ball and kicked a goal each. We went into the break with a 13-point lead. In the 3rd Kongorong came out firing and managed to close the margin with the hard work from their midfielders around the ball. Rebounding and linking up quickly off half back to catch the Robe defence off guard. The Robe boys were out on their feet with both

teams exhausted before the last quarter due to the hot sun and intense pressure around the ball. The last quarter was a blockbuster with both teams looking like they could take the chocolates on mul ple occasions. Robe had plenty of opportuni es to seal the game with mul ple inside 50's but were inaccurate in front of goals kicking 1 goal 3 points. The points proved to be very handy in the final score, with us coming away with a gutsy 2-point win. This week we are back at home to take on Glencoe and hold onto top spot. Glencoe have plenty of depth and will look to test the Robe boys once again. See you there for another red-hot contest! A Grade: The weather and playing condi ons at Kongorong where first class and there was an cipa on of a close game. Robe went into the game with six of its first team injured while Kongorong came of a comprehensive loss to Hatherleigh. The game started at a fran c pace and while the majority of the quarter was played in Robe’s half of the oval they could not convert and the Hawks finished the quarter a few points in front. The arm wrestle con nued in the second quarter with both fences on top. Unfortunately the Hawks concentrated too much on the body and the Roosters benefi ed from the result from free kicks. Robe led by three points at half me and the game was set up for a great second half. The third quarter was tough but Robe were able to show flashes of teamwork and skill and opened up a five goal lead at three quarter me. Kongorong gathered themselves up and started the last quarter by goaling within half a minute and it looked like they may reduce Robe’s lead. Robe however absorbed the pressure and the game petered out into a scrappy match. Robe won by 28 points with its best players being Zac Deane, Tom Wachtel, Tom Williams, Jordan Pe t and Jack Sneath.

ROBE GLENCOE
Today as we look forward to Round 6 with a nice drive to the seaside, we must look back on what has been a highly uncertain week for the footy club. It all began in the leadup to Round 5 with a video from Kleenex Australia surfacing, featuring none other than Club President Ted Peacock as the new 'face of the franchise'. This kicked the rumour mill into gear with reports ranging from Kleenex compe tor 'Handee' ac vely head-hun ng Teddy to feature in their newest campaign, to Hollywood coming calling looking for a guest role in Mark Wahlberg's next flick, 'Ted 3'. Luckily for the club these all proved unfounded, and Teddy was there in the leadup to Round 6 to perform his usual football club du es (drawing the raffle on a Thursday night). If you haven't seen the adver sement, I encourage you to check it out, there's just something about the way Teddy caresses that ssue paper... Junior Colts: The Junior Colts suffered their first loss for the season against a very good Hatherleigh ou it. With almost iden cal sta s cs on the ladder at the onset of the round, but with the junior Eagles having played one less game, it was always going to be a tough test. The young Murphies ba led hard all day, but ul mately couldn't match the run and skill of the Hatherleigh side eventually going down by 90 odd points. Shout out to young Kallan Price who was injured in a tackle and had to leave the ground but was cleared of any serious injury and was all good a er the game, albeit extremely sore. Hopefully the team will have you out there again this week! Our best players featured a mix of some 'old' and 'new' names with regulars Marcus (Junior) McGrath, Kade (Lil Boof) Mulraney and Sam (Haasey) Haase taking out the first 3 best player awards. Featuring a er that were a few new addi ons with Leslie (got the moves like) Jagger, Max (Maximus) Atchison and Tyrone (T) Siebert. Senior Colts: It was also a tough day at the office for the Senior Colts who also came up against a well drilled and skilful Hatherleigh side. The lads gave up a lead early on and struggled to find their rhythm, but ba led it right out to the end and played a much be er brand of football in the second half. 'Marky' Mark Arthurson didn't need the help of his funky bunch to take out best player honours, building on his efforts from last round, once again leading the way with strong, disciplined footy. Ben Weedon con nues to be a pillar of consistency within the team, taking out second best on the day and also kicking two of the teams majors on a day when goals were hard to come by. Digby Richards-Fennel backed up his solid game from last round to feature in the best again while Timmy Mutch, Luke King and Hugh Talbot rounded out the best players for the day. Today the lads will have to be at their best against an undefeated Robe side who don't give up many points to the opposi on, so let's get those kicking boots on! Reserves: The Reserves took the ground against the reigning premiers with once again, a side barely recognisable from the previous week. With this in mind, Whi a

would have been pleased with the effort through the first two quarters, with the boys s ll in the mix at half me due to an excellent effort from the backline, and a lack of accuracy from the Eagles. Unfortunately the Ressies ran out of legs in the second half, unable to really challenge the scoreboard, while Hatherleigh showed superior fitness to consistently put the ball into their forward 50 and overwhelmed the Murphy backs. Carey Megaw was best for the day, showing his elite fitness to get to all areas of the ground and provided a strong link through the middle of the field and made a strong case to be elevated back to the late game. Easter once again worked relessly all day and as with every week, played un l the final siren sounded to take out second best and remain as the side’s most consistent performer week in, week out. Darcy Hogan played a great game down back, displaying great closing speed to make a number of important spoils and also rebound the ball out of the defensive 50. Due to unavailability the Ressies had to play a few Senior Colts to fill the side, so to see the intensity and grit that Timmy Mutch and Kyle Maney played with all game, straight a er finishing Senior Colts, they were no-brainers to slot in at 4th and 5th best, well done lads. Marcus McGrath seems to have a lease on the 6th best slot, being (along with Easter) the most reliable bloke in the side. Today will be a big test against a good Robe side at their home ground, so let's have a good crack. A Grade: Injuries and unavailability were a big concern heading into the game against a talented Hatherleigh side with a number of high level contributors unavailable for the game. When the injuries con nued to mount early on in the game, it was clear that the lads were facing an uphill ba le. Hopefully in the coming weeks and with a bye on the horizon, the side can get healthy and get a majority of people back on the field. Dylan Pfitzner ba led hard all day against the flow to put forward one of his best games for the year to take out BOG honours for the Murphies, while Tommy Edwards led from the front and con nued his excellent form of recent weeks to feature at 2nd best. Unlike his beloved Green Bay Packers quarterback, Dane Paproth put the team first and did everything in his power to help them succeed, ba ling hard in the ruck and around the ground to regularly get his hands on the ball, earning him a nod for third best. Patrick Mitchell was once again rock solid all day, ge ng a lot of the footy, and showing his usual smarts and toughness, while Declan Hurley must have had his first good home cooked meal in 6 weeks, playing another great game down back. Rounding out the best players for the day, on a birthday he might like to forget (team-wise), Dylan Childs had another good individual performance to take out 6th best. Let's hope we can all regroup today and put a couple of wins on the board and get over the line in the A Grade where we are hoping Pa y's 50th A Grade game is a memorable one. Go Murphies!

NANGWARRY PORT MacDONNELL
Congratula ons must go out to both of our junior teams last week ge ng the points. Both games were great to watch, especially the Junior Colts where the team made sure everyone got involved. The talk amongst the parents is that everyone is happy with the direc on our junior coaches are heading. Brent and Chris bring a sense of professionalism and Jamie needs to be recognised for the effort he has put in over the last couple of years to recruit players. This week we say thanks to Mick Mullan Plumbing and Building and GEM. Both businesses have jumped back on board in 2021 and are major contributors to the rebuild. The football would like to thank Mick Mullan for taking on the massive job of helping us rebuild the club and GEM for contribu ng and dona ng towards the rebuild. As a club we ask you help support those who support us and give back. Under 11: Proud of the boys on the weekend, plenty of good ball use, good skills, and good teamwork all round. The boys come out full of confidence each week and it comes out in the way they play footy, unreal to watch. Junior Colts: What can we say other than what a game? The lads came into the game against Kalangadoo confident a er an impressive game against Glencoe. The feeling on the track was good during the week as well as in the rooms before the game. The lads came out firing and put 6 majors on the board in the first quarter. Winning the ball out of the centre really set the boys up forward to make the most of the ball and convert it to scores on the board. The boys really worked hard at keeping the ball in our forward 50 a er minor scoring shots by locking it in and capitalising on the turn-around to score goals. They showed great sportsmanship throughout the day really sharing the ball around so everyone could have a shot at goals. Kalangadoo put up a great fight and never gave up all day and Kalangadoo supporters should be proud of the kids figh ng right ll the end. Best players were Calais, Archer, Taj, Harry, Riley and Tayte. Goal scorers were too numerous to list with everyone scoring a goal or two. Let's keep the momentum going boys and keep showing what we are made of when we take on the Bay. Also, a special men on to Jamie and the Senior Colts on their 1st win of the year. Great work boys! Senior Colts: The only nega ve for this week was a broken collarbone to Peter Davis in the last few minutes of the game. This is very unfortunate for Pete

as he improved considerably this season and we all wish him the best in his recovery. To Timmy Brennan and his boys at Kalangadoo, keep your heads up and keep ba ling! Although the score was not fla ering some of your team play in patches were good and resulted in both your goals. The more you do it together the closer you will be to ge ng the results you are a er. To my guys other than some inaccurate kicking for goal it was a very pleasing team performance. The second half from last week con nued and resulted in a real confidence boost for all of you. Great job by all and very pleasing to have some new players that gelled with everyone very quickly. Let us con nue this form this week against Port McDonnell and really get us going for the year! Best players: Riley Lock, Bailey Lindner, Jacob Schmi , Cooper Holmes, Archer Virtanen and Jack Stocker. Goal kickers: Bailey Lindner 5, Jack Stocker, Cooper Holmes, Jacob Schmi , Ty Dinnison 2, Jonah Kramer, Calais Bormann, Riley Edwards, Noah Virtanen 1. B Grade: With several players out for both senior teams we were always going to be up against it against Kalangadoo. That being said I think we had our best quarter of play for the year and at the break only down by 3 pts. Unfortunately, we could not maintain that effort for the dura on of the game and Kalangadoo ran out easy winners in the end. Thought the game was played in pre y good spirit up un l the final siren where things got a li le bit heated. Not sure what our guys did on our end. I am sure we had a role to play however what I will say is that poin ng to the scoreboard and beli ling a team that clearly is struggling is a li le below the belt considering they know what it is like on the other end. Hopefully we can put in a solid performance against the Bay. A Grade: Last week against Kalangadoo brought very much the same form in the first half as the previous week. We worked hard and our pressure around the contest was solid but due to Kalangadoo's defence we could not register a score. We went in at half me and discussed a couple of things that we needed to ghten up. We come out in the 3rd and kicked the first 3 goals going on to finish with 5 in a quarter. Overall our second half was good but our slow starts are becoming a trend which we will work on! Once again the scoreboard doesn't tell the story but the Doo are definitely the team to beat. We are improving every week; we just need the injury list to shorten soon. Cheers LT.

Junior Colts: Last week we came up against Tant. We came out firing and set the tone early. The pressure on the ball carrier was excep onal. Our desire to get in and get hold of the footy was great to see. Tant challenged the boys me and me again but to our boys' credit we were able to rise to the challenge and answer back with a goal. Best players were 1st Jacob Spehr who set the tone early with his a ack on the footy and his ability to carry the ball through conges on. 2nd Zane Lewis who is like an Energizer Bunny who just keeps on going and going. 3rd Wil Lewis our Skipper who played excep onally well at full forward, kicking 4 goals and created a real target for us. 4th Harry Carroll who found plenty of the footy in the middle and ran hard all day. 5th Je Lewis who rebounded well off his half back flank and played well when required in the middle. 6th Casey Wilson who presented well at CHF and con nues to grow as a back up ruck. Excellent work lads, it was great to chalk up our first win for the season and was a great team effort across the board. Senior Colts: A lack-lustre effort from our boys against a good quality side. Got some work to do on the track. Redan best on with some good skill and poise with the ball. Koby had a blinder, head over the footy all day and great second efforts. Riley didn’t give up all day, worked both ends a acking and defending hard. Connor found himself a new posi on in the backline, giving us that run and carry. Isaac consistently hard at the ball. Max had a job to do and he stuck with it all game showing great leadership. B Grade: A er a good start to the season the next challenge we had in front of us was hos ng Tantanoola at home, a er a very light shower in the morning, the sun came out for a beau ful autumn day. Last week we celebrated a special milestone for one of our players, Ryan Fox who played his 200th game for the club. A er playing all his junior football at Pt MacDonnell, Ryan was also a member of the A Grade Premiership in 2012. We would like to congratulate Ryan on this wonderful achievement. The game was a bit like the Mt Burr game, we started a li le slow but gathered pace as the game went along. This resulted in coach Lewis giving one of his famous cooks at half me to let the boys know we he thought of their performance which was a li le under par. Tantanoola put up an excellent effort it needs to be said, considering they were horribly light for numbers, using 4 Senior Colts, also I
2nd qtr
3rd qtr
would also like to acknowledge and thank 2 of our players Jordy Carrison and Bryce Redman who also filled in for Tantanoola to help out. So many thanks to those fellows. Best for the week, Jake Schleter who is making his way back from an injury that he sustained in the off season, performances like this will suggest he won't stay long in the B's. Second best was the near veteran Gus McGregor who very rarely plays a bad game, and this was no different. Third was the 200 gamer Ryan Fox, not much else we can say. Fourth best was Jacob Simmons who is star ng to really hit his straps as the season goes on. Fi h best was Ben Milstead who is also star ng to hit form a er a slow start to the season. Sixth best was Rory Natrass who also played his first game for the year and looks ready for a good season. This week to quote Willie Nelson: “On the road again”, all the way to Nangwarry to take on the Saints. Let's hope we can keep improving every week. A Grade: A er a ght win against Mt Burr the previous week, we hosted Tantanoola at home in a beau ful sundrenched day. Unfortunately last week we added to our long-term injury list with an ACL injury to Jack Primer as well as a lower leg injury to Blake Lynch. All the best boys and wishing you have a speedy recovery. The game started off evenly, with only a few goals between the teams at quarter me. A er quarter me the boys did kick it up a few gears and managed to kick away to score a good win. This is not to take away anything from Tantanoola's effort as they also were a bit under strength and put up a good fight right to the end. Best for the game was Daron McElroy who is back to, dare I say it, his Mail Medal form, second best was Ned Wilkie who is a having a splendid season, third best was Dylan Bromley who is having a splendid season, fourth best was Mark Smith who is stringing together a lot of appearances in this part of the write up, fi h best was another regular in this part of the notes Tim Sullivan who is pu ng a great body of work together, and sixth best in his first A Grade game for the year, Ma Stark, who played a great game in a reward for effort a er a big preseason. This week we look to keep building momentum as we head up the road to Nangwarry who seem to be on the improve which is fantas c for them and for the league. Let's hope we can take a good number up the highway and get around our boys on the next challenge of 2021.

With 15 players for us three young Bay boys came across and filled in each quarter - thanks Smithy much appreciated. It was a fantas c game of Junior Colts footy with both teams able to showcase their skills in a high scoring and very entertaining game. Unfortunately for us we came up a couple goals short.

Very happy with the a tude as we got behind a bit and never threw in the towel and kept figh ng hard. Bests were Braydn, Brayden, Thomas, Ashton and Will. Awards were Braydn - Dentons Sportspower, Brayden Jennings Family Trust, Will - Hungry Jacks, Thomas - McDonalds. As a group we went to ten pin bowling on Tuesday night. Thanks Spog for organising. I'm sure all the kids appreciate it. As this was wri en beforehand I wonder who the winner was? My guess Jake Bevan. Senior Colts: U17 boys went out on what was a great day at Port Mac with the sun shining, a bit quieter than usual but to their credit they all played well - from the big boys to the 3 young under 14 boys. Let's go out this week and play another great game at home against the Burr boys. Best players Cade Kelly, Ellis Cushion, big boy will Sam Jenno and young Cocky. B Grade: G'day everyone, last weekend saw us travel to Port Mac which turned on beau ful weather for footy, unfortunately for us we were severely undermanned and a forfeit was most likely un l Port Mac was kind enough to lend us some players for the day. Unless we can find a big influx of players very shortly unfortunately I think there is going to be many more of these Saturday's ahead. I'm very thankful and proud of everyone who chucked on a Tant jumper on the day. Best players for us on the day were Nick Cory, Hamish Thompson, Clarkey, Chris Hale, Jack Rads and Bundy down back. A Grade: G'day everyone last week we took on Port Mac down at the bay. We lucked out with the weather, beau ful sunshine, slight breeze. Perfect for football. Early on the boys showed glimpses of some good passages of play and forward entries. Port Mac proved and showed they're gelling well and have a strong plan that caught us on the back foot a couple of mes. Their big, experienced targets up forward made our backman work pre y hard most the day. S ll plenty of signs we are moving in the right direc on but on the day Port Mac had us covered. Best on the day were Jack Dawe, Ellis Cushion (Senior Colts player), Jack Pearce, Hayden Brown and William Scanlon (Senior Colts player).

TANTANOOLA MOUNT BURR
Round 4 saw us hos ng Pt Mac at home where the Junior Colts got their first win and the Senior Colts also winning but Pt Mac took the points in the senior grades. Our coaches are working hard with the players on improving each game. Hopefully at our next home game we should have some hard copy budgets placed around the grounds for people to read. Tonight get back to the club for our Miss Mount Burr func on. Come and see the players like you've never seen them before. The night starts at 7.00 and the bus will be leaving the Somerset at 7.00 sharp cost - $10 per person. Junior Colts: Last game we came up against a very compe ve Port Mac side. Again we were low on numbers and Port Mac were able to help us out by sending some boys over our way which was much appreciated. The game was a compe ve tough game and to our boys’ credit we were able to hold on for a hard-fought win. Leading the way was Charlie and Will, the Brant boys were strong in defence again. We had a couple new boys out there in Lukas and Dallas and they played extremely well in their first game. Well done to our boys and we look forward to our next game a er the bye. Senior Colts: Last game the boys showed what can happen when you work hard for each other and as a team. There was some great skills and hard a acking on the ball with the whole team contribu ng to the win. Best players were Geordie Whennan using his great skills all day. Lachlan Alcock led hard all day and finished with a bag. Kallan Bevan never stopped running and did a lot of hard work. Je Bowering had his best game for year a acking the ball hard and using his pace to advantage. Finleigh Altschwager set up plenty of

a acking moves and was strong in defence. Brock Sandow showed his pace and composure rebounding hard and hi ng targets. Trey Norton Li le ran hard and got plenty of hard ball. Next game will be a huge test for our boys in what should be a close game. B Grade: Last game the boys started strong against a very talented Bay side. The boys cracked in hard for the first quarter but fitness or lack of allowed Pt Mac to take control. With a bit of training the lads should be compe ve in most games this year. We all need to come together as a team so the coach is having a BBQ and couple of ales at his place as we have the bye and then rip into Tant and hopefully get our first win. Great to see the Fossil having a run in the twos adding a bit of experience. A Grade: Round 4 was another big test for our boys coming up against Pt Mac. Like last game we started the first quarter well with some early scoring while Pt Mac went wayward in front of their goals. Second quarter really cost us with not being able to penetrate deep enough into our forward 50 and Pt Mac making the most of their opportuni es. Going into half me our last game was playing on the minds of our supporters and probably some of our boys, but to their credit we came out in the second half prepared to run and move the ball with some rewards coming. In what was a hot finish to the game Pt Mac were able to finish off best and get the W. Congrats to Andy Ridz on playing his 50th club game and having a great 4th quarter when it ma ered. Best were J. Wallis, C. Puia , Knife, S. Wallis, Jim Wallis and J. Fiebig.

thompson celebrates 100 games for glencoe Today we celebrate 100 club games for Emily Thompson at Glencoe Netball Club. Emily first played for Glencoe in 2014 as part of the 13 & Under team and has featured heavily in both club and league awards since. Emily may be quietly spoken but she is a force to be reckoned with on the court using her height to her advantage and being a focal point at either end. 2017 and 2018 saw her snag the League 15 & Under Best & Fairest medal both years in a row and she has been a part of Interleague sides also.
At club level she won 13 & Under Best & Fairest in 2015 and in 2018 won 15 & Under Best & Fairest. In 2017, 18 and 19 she also won the Jack Jones Memorial Medal (the highest number of junior votes at league level). This year sees Emily play her first year of seniors and she is a pivotal part of the A Grade team. It’s exci ng to watch Emily learn and grow as a player and she is definitely rising to the challenge. She has a bright future ahead of her and we are proud to have her be a part of Glencoe. Congratula ons Em.

A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW ROUND 6 HATHERLEIGH v KALANGADOO Hatherleigh are at home this week and take on Kalangadoo. Hatherleigh come off a strong 10 goal win against Glencoe, while Kalangadoo defeated Nangwarry by almost 50 goals. Both teams remain undefeated so far in season 2021 so this should be a cracking game. Matchups will be interes ng this week as both the Eagles and the Magpies have players in brilliant form. Jane Auld was named best for the Magpies last week and coach Jayde Peacock is always hard to beat through the centre. Hatherleigh have Tegan Merre and Lara McGregor in red hot form and Sarah Faulkner if she lines up a er an injury on the weekend. Youngster Lacey Haines has been good for the Eagles in the goal circle, she will be tested this weekend against a strong Kalangadoo defence line. Kalangadoo changed things up a bit against Nangwarry on the weekend, giving some juniors a run and once again showing the depth they have in their club. Maddie Redman was also good against Glencoe for the Eagles, making Glencoe work for every goal. Redman and Sarah Broadhead will make the Magpies goalies earn their goals. Accuracy will be a key factor of this game, and I would expect to see it go down to the wire. Kalangadoo's experience may just get them over the line, but expect to see Hatherleigh take it right up to the Magpies. ROBE v GLENCOE Robe are at home this week and Glencoe travel to take on the seasiders. Robe had a good 26 goal win against Kongorong while Glencoe went down by 10 goals to Hatherleigh. Robe goalies Tori Gluyas and Sarah Laurie were in good form, finding good space and shoo ng accurately. They will likely line up against Glencoe's Sarah Edwards
and Emily Thompson who have been a good defensive duo so far this year for the Murphies. Robe have been incredibly unlucky with injuries this year, losing many valuable A Grade players. The latest to add to their list is Club President Kim Ross who is out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury. A er playing A Grade for over 2 decades, this is a cruel blow for Ross and her team-mates. Asha Pe has stepped up to take Ross' spot and was named in the best for Robe on the weekend. Georgia Perkins has been outstanding for the Roosters, they will be looking for another big game from her to help stop the supply to Caitlin Hentschke. Rebecca Edwards was in brilliant form for Glencoe on the weekend, her, along with Donna Jaeschke and Ashlea Edwards, form a very solid mid-court trio. Glencoe are probably a li le more se led than Robe have been due to their injuries and should take the points. NANGWARRY v PORT MACDONNELL Nangwarry are at home this week and take on the Demons. Nangwarry suffered a big loss at the weekend against Kalangadoo, while the Demons were trounced by Tantanoola. Port Mac are yet to win a game, while Nangwarry have only chalked up the one win against Kongorong. Both sides will be desperate for the win and hopeful of ge ng some points on the board. Brooke Williams has been accurate for the Bay, if her and coach Kirby Carrison can gel well, they will cause headaches for Hayley Vanderhorst and Carly Ploenges in defence for the Saints. The Demons defence-line of Lisa McGregor and Morgan Amy have been working well together and will likely line up against Cassie Dinnison and Ange Pra who have played some good passages of play together.
Proudly supporting the Mid South East Football League
Hayley Burner has been a standout for the Saints and will have a good ba le against Michelle Moore for the Bay. Jess Trench was named best for the Bay against Tant, she ran hard all day at WA in a physical encounter and fed her goalies accurately. Ebony Lawson was among the best for the Saints against Kalangadoo at WA and combined well with Burner through the midcourt. Both sides appear to s ll be a li le unse led but will be giving their all on Saturday. Pt Mac to take the points in a close one. TANTANOOLA v MOUNT BURR Tantanoola head home this week to take on Mount Burr. Tantanoola had a very convincing win against Port MacDonnell last week and were impressive. Mount Burr are coming of a weeks rest and will be keen to get back onto the court. Emma Gould was in good form for the Tigers, using her height to her advantage and shoo ng accurately. She will line up against Madi Hagge who has had an outstanding start to the season and will make Gould earn every goal. Gould is well supported by Jami Walker who is accurate and speedy, and the pair are well fed by Casey Walker on the wing. Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty have performed well in goals so far this year for the Burr, shoo ng accurately and combining well together. They will be up against the experienced Kate Bromley and talented junior Tayla Rowe who has been in good form. Laura Schultz at C and Ella Fal ng at WA for the Mozzies form a very daun ng midcourt and will have a good tussle against Tant's Vic Lucas and Alex Lucas. The Tigers would dearly love to add another 4 points to the board this week, but I think Mount Burr will have other ideas. Mount Burr to take the points.
Kongorong has the bye.

NETball club notes
A Grade: Not a pre y game to watch but that's Glencoe, they make you earn every possession, it was good to see our young ones stand up and perform well. Once again our defensive pressure was outstanding by everyone. In a ack we need to work on being more pa ent and be ready to adjust to the situa on, not keep persis ng on what's not working. Lacey once again played a super game and Maddie P was strong and confident at shooter. Maddie R and Sarah B took a while to find their feet but once they did they picked off plenty of ball. It was good to see Rosie come on just a er half me for her 2nd run in the A's and although nervous soon se led in at WA and presented well. Thanks to Lucy Corman for si ng bench. Speedy recovery Sarah... it's just a cramp. Alternate Life award: Maddie Pulmer, Gino's award: Lacey Haines, Somerset award: Maddie Redman, HSR award: Rosie Ne le. A Reserve: We knew we were in for a tough ba le against the undefeated Glencoe. We started well in the first quarter, staying goal for goal nearly throughout. Abby was firing in goals, using her sharp hands to pull in the high balls and shoo ng consistently. The centre court combina on of Lucy, Melissa and Helen had to run hard to keep up the pace with a fast Glencoe unit. The second quarter was disappoin ng with Glencoe really taking control of the game. We were having to fight for every possession and their defenders were really restric ng our space in the goal circle. Marnie and Lucy Chant were using quick feet in defence but Glencoe's shoo ng accuracy was hard to contend with. Some changes made in the third quarter, with Demi returning into defence and Paris into GS. Turnovers each end meant fitness was a factor as the ball went up and back. We won the quarter but it was too li le too late as we went down 27-51 in the end. Thanks Dakota for si ng reserve. A lot to work on this week as we front up for another tough game against Kalangadoo. Helen got the Heaven on a Hanger voucher; Abby Wight awarded the Sportspower and Demi Smith Somerset award. B Grade: A scrappy affair and we didn't play our own game at all. Glencoe shot the first four goals a er we had been missing shots, once we se led and Leila and Ellie found their confidence, we turned the quarter around to be 1 up at ¼ me. Glencoe had a tall C which was causing some issues in the mid-court, so Nat and Lacey had to work extremely hard. Jess came on into GD at half me for her first game and joined Georgia in the circle and had an impact straight away, while Meg went into the WA posi on and Maddie came onto GS and had a strong drive for the ball with her shoo ng most of the goals in the quarter. A great 3rd quarter winning it by 3. The fourth quarter was our worst with us shoo ng only 6 goals. Our fitness showing through and Ellie becoming unwell on the court we ended up going down. Generally overall a very pleasing game up un l ¾ me. We need to work harder on our fitness to be able to finish off games. Somerset award: Maddie Butler, Denton's Sportspower award: Leila Buhlmann, Since-Fi y-Six award: Jess Bowman . B Reserve: We knew going into the game it was going to be a hard, gutsy one, but that didn't stop us from coming out with the determina on needed to get us over the line. Indi and Dizey are combing well in goals, Di learning quickly to create the space. Both girls put up some great shots, Indi working hard and rebounding strongly. Our defence line was strong, Fee and Staci together created many turnovers and Fee pulled in many rebounds, both girls making Glencoe's shooters work hard all game. Amy in WD took some specky intercepts. Sally and Michelle both provided a lot of drive through the mid-court in C and WA and got their hands to the ball on many occasions. Hannah tried hard and gave it her all a er being away unwell. Billie provided lots of encouragement all game. All in all a great team effort by all. It was great that “Kelly” made an appearance! Big thank you to Elly Redden for si ng bench, Nic for scoring and
Kerry for primary carer. Somerset award: Fee, Since-Fi y-Six award: Staci, HSRC award: Sally 17 & Under: We started the game off strong, having lapse of terrific plays down the court and into the a acking goal circle. Movement down the court was quick and had a really great flow of linkages between defence and a ack. Lacey Haines and Dakota Hateley held their own in goals, shoo ng accurately and moving effortlessly together. Demi Jones drove the ball down hard, having full control of the mid-court. Rosie Ne le played very well no ma er what posi on she was on the court, direc ng play and crea ng numerous turnovers. Laura Chester and Elly Redden created pressure for the opposi on’s shoo ng circle, consistently ge ng rebounds and intercep ons which ul mately made the difference. Elly had both coaches standing as she rejected the opposi on’s shooters shot for goal not once but twice, which is such an incredible achievement. Such an amazing effort girls, a very good game of netball! Denton's Sportspower award: Elly Redden, Hatherleigh Ladies Commi ee award: Emma Lang. 15 & Under: Wow what a fantas c 4 quarters of netball. With lots of posi onal changes made at every break you girls were able to adjust quickly. This alone is a credit to you all it shows no ma er what posi on you are given your willing to give 100 percent. Once again things we worked on at training were a visible improvement when implemented into our game, keep this up. Bella had an outstanding game at both ends of the court and for a few minutes even had a crack at C!, she was awarded the Duckies award. Niah created space beau fully in the goal circle teaming well with both Bella and Tori, she also had great vision into the circle when out at WA, she won the HLC award. 13 & Under: A er a somewhat sluggish start we se led to play some good a acking netball with everyone contribu ng. Final score was 43-13. Again players adapted well to posi onal changes. We will con nue to work on our throwing skills to get more speed on the ball through the air as well as ming our a acking leads. Lots to learn but well done girls! Denton's Sportspower award: Alex Haines, Ladies Commi ee awards: Olivia Bellinger and Amber Chester. Junior 1: Glencoe were a tough match for our li le Eagles ra ling us in the first half. It was a good game to really put in place all the things we learn at training. Luca and Alirah combined well in the circle to put on lots of pressure and cause turnovers. Sienna, Grace, Scarle and Olivia H all ran hard through the centre and Livvi and Olivia B moved and shot well in the circle. Let's con nue to work hard at training. All the best and safe travels to the Hassell family. Thank you to Mel from primary caring and Stace for jumping in to umpire. Maccas award: Olivia B, Toy Kingdom award: Scarle , Java Café award: Luca. Junior 2: We started the game reluctantly as we lined up against a much bigger Glencoe team. Girls had to adjust quickly to their height by using their dodging and leading to cut in front of their players. Hazel played a strong game, running and clearing into space to move the ball down the court in the Centre posi on. Paige worked hard in defence, ge ng her hands to lots of balls as usual by s cking ght to her player. We were lucky to have first gamers Ella Loveday and Violet Fitzgerald ready to take the court when injuries occurred. Ella found her feet in the goal ring, shoo ng her first goal with some excellent passing between her and Hazel. Violet showed a natural flare for defence, not giving her opponent an inch. Kirby bravely returned to the court a er injury and showed great fight, chasing up loose balls and making her opponent work for every possession. Maggie used her voice confidently and led strongly for the ball in a ack. Well done girls, we finished the game strongly and played as a team! Toy Kingdom voucher awarded to Hazel Hamilton and McDonalds vouchers to Ella and Violet.
Junior 2: We started of all wan ng the ball at once looks like more training to make space. Jorji played a ripper first game welcome to Kdoo received Penola Recycle award. Next was Gracie, she zipped around and found space easily, received Copenhagen and Pippa received Baker's Delight award, she managed to get her hands to a lot of the ball and has improved lots. Let's all focus on shoulder pass and defensive work in the next couple of games then we will be all go. Keep up the good work everyone! Junior 1: Great effort again li le Magpies. It was great to see everyone working hard to put what we are learning at training into the matches. As a team we had some beau ful shoulder passes. Let's make sure we are having a look before naming and passing to our teammates. Molly and Ashely worked well to drive to the goal circle to feed Ava and Lexi who had some nicely med leads to the ball. Ebony, Ma lda and Sophie caused many turnovers in defence and drove the ball out of defence confidently. Well done let's con nue to work hard. Awards: Molly - Bakers Delight, Ava - Paradise Pizza, Sophie - Fasta Pasta. 13 & Under / 15 & Under: Pleased that by working closely together (and with 17/U) we were able to ensure all players played four quarters, with a few ge ng some extra court me, and giving a couple of J1s a quarter! So proud of all the girls for their acceptance and understanding - they have shown great considera on as we work towards helping each team every week. Awards: Gabby (Maccas) and Molly (Kdoo Juice) both found their radar in the shoo ng and passing department! Ash (SAL award) going from strength to strength. Ma lda (Maccas) and Shayden (Paradise Pizza) both followed instruc ons to the le er. Best players: Ebony, Tegan (80% accuracy again!), Chloe and Maya. 17 & Under: Well done girls. It is great to see how you are all able to adapt to different posi ons. A big thank you to the 15s for filling in and si ng bench again. It will be a challenging couple of weeks with a few players out, but I know we have lots of leadership on court that will allow our team to play to the best we can. Awards: Holly - Body Shop, Maddie Chelsea Feast Make Up. B Reserve: A pleasure to be coach
of this team. They have already formed a ght knit unit, with praise and encouragement being the bonding agents - really liking your teammates helps too! Awards: Bills (Pines Hotel) and Abby (Margaret Street Meats) but it was a real team effort. B Grade: Another solid win by the girls. We started the first quarter well and built on our lead steadily throughout the game. Our defence across the whole court was something the girls should be very proud of. Nangwarry shot well when given the opportunity, but we did well to rebound every chance we had at both ends. Transi on from the mid court was excellent and something that con nues to impress. Chelsea Feast Makeup Ar st - Lucy Williams, Athletes Foot - Jolie Crowhurst. A Reserve: A much be er game to watch than the last few weeks, which was really pleasing to see and shows that everything we have been working through at training is being put into play as required. Jaimee played a nice composed game and combined well with Maddy allowing for lots of nice movements in the ring, while Anthea controlled the midcourt and along with Emmason fed the goalies well with some lovely med passes. Down the other end of the court Re was ge ng hand to everything and was well supported by Shan and Schultz with all defensive combos combining well. A huge thanks to Holly and Emily for si ng bench, and when given the opportunity to hit the court took direc ng well, and thanks as usual to my other helpers Jo, Relle and Leanne. Awards: Jaimee Ryan - Beauty by Re, Anthea Paterson - Kalangadoo Organics, Reanna Wetherall Shelton's Butchers. A Grade: It was pleasing to begin the match posi vely, with some great defensive pressure from Mickey, Chloe and Chelsea. Well done on maintaining this high defensive intensity throughout the match and for suppor ng each other to create many opportuni es. Great effort from Mel and Jane for adjus ng to the changes and for providing great leadership and support. Well done and thank you to Kori, Sophie and Shelby for making the most of your opportuni es and also congratula ons to Shelby on her first A Grade game. Best players: Aunty Jane - Terry White and Mickey - Chelsea Feast Makeup.

NETball club notes Junior 2: What an improvement these girls have made in just 3 weeks. Everyone's leading was amazing, running into space to try and get the ball, now we just need to work on ge ng in front so the person who's passing the ball can see you, to make an easier pass. Defence is ge ng be er, hands up over the player with the ball and a few intercepts taken and a couple turnovers too. It's great the see improvement each week, keep working hard! Incen ve (Canteen) went to Harper, for her brilliant leading and working on ge ng in front, and her chasing or loose balls. Junior 1: This was our best game played for the season so far. You are all beginning to gel together nicely as a team to play some really good netball. I think the most obvious improvement has been you're passes which is great and allows a be er flowing consistent match. Your defence has also been much more 1 on 1 and simply having a go with a bit more confidence. Great stuff girls. Incen ve (Canteen) went to Lacey Brooks for defending well and shoo ng 7 super dooper goals in the last quarter. Chocolate Award went to Siarrah Denning for a huge improvement in defence. 13 & Under: Robe 26 Kongorong 4. A great win by the girls. We tried out a few new combina ons that proved to be effec ve. We need to make sure we think about our passing and leading into space and not crowd the centre court. Kaitley Brooks played a game in many a acking posi ons and that got her best player (The Project). Olivia Birchall had another great game in defence and was awarded the Incen ve (Robe Seafood & Takeaway). Well done girls. 15 & Under: Robe 27 Kongorong 28. It was definitely a game we wanted to win and we needed to prove ourselves out there. Whilst the umpiring was average in the last half, our lack of consistency was the thing that let us down. It was a whole heap of li le things that some mes we were good at and some mes we were not. Know that we will get be er, learn more and work harder to achieve our goals. Remember that we are out there because we love netball girls, and some wins will come our way. I hope it makes you more determined to win next me we face Kongorong. Best player (Burger & Co): Emily Dew. Incen ve (The Pastry Place): Kiana Brooks. Special men on: Tilly Yeo. 17 & Under: Robe 52 Kongorong 27. Best player (Salubrious Hour): Lexy Hayes. Incen ve (Steve's Place): Amalie Turner. B Reserve: Robe 41 Kongorong 44. It hurt to lose by 2 goals when the game was within our grasp. But in the wise words of our captain “if you learn from a loss you have not lost.” The me off didn't seem to do us any favours and our disposals were shabby in the 2nd half. Although we enjoyed the game of netball and will work as a team to find what works for us. Calcu a (Coastal Club): Alison Nunan; great game as always. Incen ve (The Project): Jess Svic. Let's regroup and up it again. Thank you Mandz for warming our
NETball club notes bench and Bianca for stepping in as team manager - it is much appreciated. B Grade: Robe 51 Kongorong 51. What a great team game girls! I spoke to you all before the game, that we should just play our own game, focus on the basics and get them right - I am so pleased that everyone played their role. In the end we drew, which proves we are capable of being compe ve. It was a very high scoring game with both teams' goalies proving forces to be reckon with. Every player worked hard and made their opponents work for every possession. Calcu a (Salubrious Hour) went to Marley who was incredibly accurate in goals once again, and incen ve (Steve's Place) went to Emma for pu ng in a brilliant 4 quarter effort. A Reserve: Robe 13 Kongorong 45. A tough game on the court, despite the score no one gave up or dropped their heads once - it just wasn't our day. Our finishing touches were just not quite there - basic passes and being in front is something we need to get working on at training! Keep our heads up and hopefully soon we will be able to se le our team and get some consistency. A big thanks to juniors Billie and Maisie again for playing a full game and holding their own. Thanks to Kirsty who had a day's no ce to whip on her netball shoes a er not playing for 8 years! Calcu a (The Cally) went to a well deserving Pom, who did not stop the en re game ge ng so many touches in the defence. Incen ve (Burger & Co) went to Shelby who played out of her comfort zone in GA but really held her own, directed play and adapted well. A Grade: Robe 57 Kongorong 31. Great win girls. Everyone put in and played some great netball. With so many injuries we have relied on our A Reserve and fill-ins to help complete our team, and hopefully this might be the start of some se ling and moving forward as a team. Asha stepped into the WA role with ease, crea ng drive and controlled passing, it was like she had been playing there for years. Taylor and Georgia combined extremely well together and imagine if Taylor was fit, those 2 would do some serious damage in the ring. Massive thank you to Taylor for flying home to help us out, was great to have you back in the red and white, suppor ng our wonderful netball family. Sarah and Tori once again played a strong and confident game, with Sarah stepping up and direc ng play in the a ack end. Keryn and Sammy con nued to push all game and back up their teammates when necessary. With so many changes it was great to see everyone worked together from the sidelines, it's very rare for a club to work together as well as we do and you are all superstars! Great game ladies, Glencoe this week, let's work on the trademarks and peg another win. Calcu a (Loaves & Fishes) went to Georgia Perkins for an absolute ripper in defence, and incen ve (The Union) went to Asha for her steady and consistent game (just like her mother).
Congratula ons to Zali Halton for playing 50 club games and to Emily Thompson for playing 100 club games. Junior 2: Great game girls, your improvement con nues to show every week. Metalworx Award went to Mikayla for great drives down the court and some awesome intercepts. Second best went to Abbie for millions of intercepts down the court all game. Junior 1: Yet again another great game girls. You are all coming together as a team and it is great to see the bond you are all crea ng! We s ll need to work on our leads, but all the way down the court is great passing, a acking and defending. Eddie Kuhl Tyres Award went to Layla Hawke for her determina on in every posi on she plays and encouragement goes to Mackenzie Biggins. 13 & Under: 13-43. Great effort girls, good figh ng to the end. We had some great shoo ng in the circle and some great turnovers. We need to remember to move to the ball and keep using our voices which will help us. Taya played really well with great running through the mid court and feeding into the shooters earning the Dycer Construc on Award. Mickayla played well shoo ng and then running through mid court ge ng second best. Both girls con nually kept running and figh ng for the ball. Well done to all girls and hopefully this week we have a full side of players. 15 & Under: 8-65. Great effort girls. We had a couple of girls out with injuries, so some of the girls played outside of their normal posi ons. All girls adapted well with the changes. Shooters worked really hard in the ring for possession. Zoe Johnston played really well, out for every centre pass and making good drives down the court. Defence combina ons changed each quarter and Jasmine Mutch had the never give up a tude as Goal Keeper. Tayliah had some great intercepts and maintained pressure on her player. Some great passages of play but turnovers were lost with inaccurate passing. Keep your heads up girls. 17 & Under: 31-67. We played a really great game girls against some very strong opposi on. We had three fantas c quarters and just had a bit of a lapse in the third quarter which saw the scoreline blow out but otherwise, we were extremely compe ve. Jorja had a ripper game in goals (DeGaris Lawyers Award), making great posi on and sinking your goals.
Lara played her best game for Glencoe with some beau ful driving and passing (Donut King Award) and everyone else contributed. Welcome back to Caitlin a er three weeks away. Let's take those good passages of play and translate them into a win this week. B Reserve: 49-50. Awesome work girls - you should be really proud with your efforts. Everyone worked hard and didn't give up. Key 2 Sale Award went to Kate for great direc onal play and second to Bri who drove well and had awesome passing into the ring. Special men on to Bri who showed what she can do either end of the court. A massive thank you to Zali who again stepped up to the plate to show she is more than capable of playing senior netball. Thanks also to Lilly who made her debut. B Grade: 51-42. A hard fought game in warm condi ons. Our first game with a full team which was great to see. I think we can agree that defensive pressure won the game for us so credit to everyone for pu ng in sixty minutes of hard netball. We know what we need to do so let's keep suppor ng each other and implemen ng our game plan. Planta on Treated Timber Award Hayley Greenfield and second to Sally McDonnell. A Reserve: 51-27. Solid effort girls. We played well for all 4 quarters which allowed us to push away with a convincing win in the end. Our defence duo one again turned it on and were well backed up by April's ght checking, causing plenty of turnovers. By the second quarter we were able to move the ball swi ly and directly into the ring giving us an 18 to 4 goal quarter. Our third quarter let us down but we managed to re-group and finish off the game nicely. Great running by Alyce all day earning the B&P Travel and Cruise Award and second to Taitlyn for standing tall all game. A Grade: 38-48. Unfortunately we allowed some ques onable umpiring calls get to us and it changed the way we played part of our game. Sarah and Emily stood tall all game and gave it their all for the full 4 quarters. Caitlin did a great job again with another new combina on in goals. Thank you to Laura for stepping up and doing a great job in goals. Bec had a great game, pu ng her WA under lots of pressure and was rewarded with some mely intercepts. Let’s refocus as a group and get a good win against Robe. O'Brien Electrical best player Bec Edwards and Sarah Edwards second.

NETball club notes Junior 2: So proud of you li le ones, every week we improve and get more confident. We are all now star ng to run to the ball and call for it, it’s amazing. So happy you all have good footwork and hardly step bow as well. Keep going my li le ones, by the end of the year we will be amazing. Canteen - Leah, Hungry Jacks Keeley. Junior 1: Good effort but took a bit to warm up. Some good passages of play. Works so well when you get in front of your players. Need to work on using shoulder passes. Was good to have a 5th quarter so we mixed up our posi ons, great job by everyone. Great defence by Ruby receiving the Athletes Foot award. Great job by Summah with always having her arms up receiving the McDonalds award. 13 & Under: Great effort against a very strong Kalangadoo side. We did not give up and all I asked was to push yourself to your limit. The warm weather did not help us, and I could see how red everyone was. Skye ran at centre and pushed yourself right to the end. Ella Stewart is a pleasure to coach, listening to what I have to say and trying her best to do it. For such a young player she will have a dominant netball career. Thank you Ella Clayfield for star ng the game - you did a great job. Wishing CJ a speedy recovery and hope you are back this week. Let's use this experience as a benchmark of what we need to do to play at this standard. We learnt lots from the game and I am sure you will all be be er players going forth. Let's con nue to get 100% this week. Best players Ella received the Penola Recycling award. Madison Timms received the McDonald's award for her brilliant holding in the goal circle. 15 & Under: Unfortunately, we did not come away with the win and we definitely didn't play to our standards. We have a lot to work on and we are always improving. We had some good passages in the game as well as some great goals. Be er luck this week. Best players were Scarle Black (Servwell) and Amelia Willis (Tarps Pub). 17 & Under: Last week was a tough game as was expected but the girls went out there in the first quarter with not much energy but a er making a few changes they got some fight in them and played some really good passages of netball. I made a few changes
NETball club notes throughout the game, but the girls adjusted to it well and included the under 15s who we had play for us. Thanks again to the under 15's that sit bench for us, we appreciate it and to all the parents that help, without you the game would not be possible. Best players: Skye Muller and Emily Timms. B Reserve: It was a tough one girls and Kalangadoo were just too good. Our passing let us down hugely and cost us in the end. But there was also a lot of posi ves. Megan and Kate worked hard in defence and can see that Amy is finding her feet. Star ng to find our groove in the centre court. Kate was a driving force in the goal circle and worked fantas cally with Kaitlyn. Thank you for filling in for us Kaitlyn you played great. Best players: Kaitlyn and Kate. B Grade: Do not be disheartened by last week’s game girls, it was a tough day on the court with the sun out and our opponents being so fit, agile and quick. Every week you all bring to the game the stuff we work on at trainings and as a coach that is all I can ask. Everyone played well in patches, but we need to work on our fitness and leads, if we can do this a win is just around the corner. Best players: Ella and Jemma. A Reserve: Definitely a be er game from us last week, although it didn't show on the scoreboard, we all played so much be er. The flow of our game was great, we moved the ball down the court with so much pa ence, was awesome to watch. Everyone cleared out and created space for each other. Well done, it was a much be er effort from everyone. Keep it up this week. Pines Hotel went to Hannah for her pa ence around the circle and great leading - well done. A Grade: We all had some awesome patches of play throughout the game. The li le things are easy to work on at training and will get easier the more we work together with each other. Defence worked hard all game ge ng touches where they could. We can be too hard on ourselves at mes, but I'm not too disappointed with the final outcome. Things will get easier when we gel and that will come the more we play together. Was a great job girls. Jen's award went to Ebony.
Junior 1: Awesome efforts from everyone. The girls tried really hard, and all gave it their best. The girls are really star ng to come out of their shells and take in what happens at trainings into game day. Everyone got an award because we all worked really well as a team, and it was a team effort. Really proud girls, keep up the good work! Junior 2: A big congratula ons to my girls, we have all really stepped up to the plate and really have shown that they want to give it a crack. Last week’s game was exactly what we asked for everyone got behind each other and helped each other throughout the game. Our passes and our leading was much be er. We are really ge ng to know our posi ons on court and knowing what our job is to do as a team we have grown in the last two weeks and we are really star ng to look for each other on the court which is great to see we really are star ng to look like a team and we are having fun. Our transi on on court was outstanding our passes were quick and we were throwing the ball as soon as the person is in front which is exactly what we said we were going to focus on in our warm up. Everyone said one thing they want to focus on themselves for the game and also one thing we want to do as a team in the game and we got through it we did the goals we set for last week’s game was cked off, I am very proud of the outstanding efforts and they girls should be proud of themselves too. Best players were Kia McDonnell (Donut King) and Lilly Pe ngill (Hungry Jacks). Well done girls. 13 & Under: We had a slow start but we got there in the end! Everyone played well and we are really happy how you are progressing. Awards went to Mollie (Maccas) who played an amazing game at GS. Chelsea (Bakers Delight) for her great defensive pressure. Lily (Dominoes) who had a great game at centre who never gave up and gave 100%. 15 & Under: Awards - Chloe Newton (KFC) and Tia Moulden (Donut King). Congratula ons girls on another great win. It was great to see everyone adjust to so many changes. 17 & Under: Awards - Imogen Jacob and Sarah Lomas. Once again it was an interes ng game due to quarterly posi on changes. However last week you proved that you can in fact adjust to new combina ons and dominate your transi on. I am so proud of you guys! Imogen had an amazing day, consistently using your voice, leading hard to the ball and reading passages of play extremely well. Arriella is once again leading the team especially with her defensive turnovers from her consistently applying pressure at all me. Sarah Lomas - you shot the lights out. Well done all of you on a great week. Let’s work hard this week on our individual goals. Well done girls. 2 and 2. B Reserve: With a few late
withdrawals and last minute changes to the team it took us a while to se le. Riley came into the game in the second quarter for her first senior game and gave the team the li they needed. Maddy and Riley combined well to make the most of the defensive turnovers to extend our lead. Tant kept the pressure on all game. Credit to Ariella for running a full game at centre a er already playing a game, ge ng plenty of touches and lovely driving out of defence. Well done girls - keep up the good work. Best players: Ariella Smith (Taylor Made) and Riley Spehr (Lima & Co). B Grade: Awards - Mckenzie Millard and Kelly Millard. First quarter we played with great intensity. We went in figh ng and we worked hard to maintain control. We had great passages of play. But we lost focus in the 3rd quarter and made unforced errors from our hands. Changes opened up the court in the 4th quarter to feed the goalies and scored. Kelly worked hard in defence, turning over many balls. Kristy made her B Grade debut and played very well. She worked hard and rebounded well and read the play well to create turnovers. A Reserve: Awards - Lucie Whitworth and Abbi Nellthorpe. Very disappoin ng game, we ended up throwing it away in the end with silly mistakes. Need to play four consistent quarters and not let the pressure get to us and affect our game. A Grade: Awards - Jess Trench (Grantville Court Butchers) and Montanna Millard (Muffin Break). The score didn't show the effort the girls put in but s ll not 100%. We are running at 80% and we really need to li to get our first win. Stay posi ve and enjoy some netball. Jess Trench was changed again to another posi on and did not disappoint. Your feeding was on point. Montanna also being swung to the other end of the court in WD, your last quarter was your strongest. Bad luck girls, let's move forward to this week. NETball club notes Junior 2: Last week against the Bay we come up against a much more evenly matched li le side. The girls had some brilliant passages of play, finding the space and making quick, short passes like we have been prac sing. A great effort from everyone. Awards went to Shelbi (Maccas) and Pippa (Hungry Jacks) for both making some great intercepts. Junior 1: When the J1s took on Pt Mac, we were able to iden fy strengths in the team. Isabella, Renae and Summer had some great passages of play, bringing the ball down the court and working hard to apply the pressure. Emie, Peyton and Tameka were able to get hands to balls on many occasions, which resulted in turnovers and although Jaycie came off with an injury, she consistently applied pressure in defence and made great leads to the space and the ball. Well done to all of the players. Encouragement award went to Jaycie for her consistent running into the space and con nuing to apply pressure. 13 & Under: What a great game from the girls against Port MacDonnell! The first quarter we were goal for goal but got out run in the last half. However we put up a good fight for the whole game. Our a acking side is looking great, ge ng it into the goals easily. We are improving so much coming to the ball and finding space. Defence stuck by their player and got their hands to lots of intercepts. Next game we need to focus on calling for the ball and moving the ball out of defence. So proud of you girls, you all played your own game and put in loads of effort 15 & Under: Another tough game but a er working on some movement at training I felt we were able to get the ball down to our a ack much be er than last week. Instead of being stuck on who to pass to and crowding we had 1-2 op ons. Kaitlyn and Kailah moved well in a ack. Tameisha teamed up well with Holly in defence and played a great game. All the girls adjusted to posi onal changes and should be proud of their efforts, giving it 100% to the last quarter on a warm day. Well done to all. KFC Award - Kaitlyn Thomas, Dentons Sportspower -Demi Bevan. 17 & Under: A er a strong start, we seemed to drop our heads in the second and third quarter which reflected on the scoreboard. We have great patches of play and really gel as a team then fall in a hole. We have poten al, but we need to focus on playing our game for a whole 4 quarters of netball to show it on the scoreboard. We need to adapt to posi on changes and not let that affect our game. Last quarter everyone seemed to pick up their heads and take on what we were saying, to bring it back a li le. Best players went to Megan for a strong game at WD, applying pressure to
NETball club notes stop her player coming on the ring and Ebony for her drive down the court and feeding into the circle. B Reserve: Great game by all the girls, coming up against a strong and accurate Port Mac side. We are really star ng to gel together as a team and seeing some space open up across the court. S ll need to work on our ming and not rushing once we secure the turnover. Best players were Jasmine Taylor who worked hard all day in the ring and Tarrah Taylor who was a champion running centre all day in the heat, direc ng play all the way down the court. B Grade: What a great team game! It was a ght affair the whole match and was fantas c to see everyone staying posi ve and backing each other up when the Bay got a couple of run-ons holding our nerve to finish with the win. We have been playing well for the past couple of weeks and it was nice to come out with the points this me! Defensive pressure and ball movement all over the court was a standout feature of our game with our goalies working really well together. Tough to pick best players this week with everyone playing well but Nic and Kath walked away with the accolades. A Reserve: Well, what a way to finish a game! Certainly a very, very close game in which I am so super proud of you all for coming away with the win! You all had to find something, a bit of fire in that last quarter and it just goes to show that we can do this! A ten goal turnaround within the last minutes of a game is unreal! We really need to take this momentum and con nue this through to this week to make sure that we build from this! We need to keep that fire, u lise our defensive pressure and intensity and play our game and what we want to work towards! We've really focused on building structure in our game and it is so awesome to see what we do at training, implanted into our game on Saturdays! Best players went to Georgia Clarke and Emma Rathjen great work ladies! A Grade: Well done girls! It was fabulous to see you implemen ng all that we have been working on during trainings. Congratula ons to Ebony in playing for the first me in A Grade, you adjusted to the intensity of the game and your leads were spot on. Alex and Vic, you stepped up and worked relessly to make your opponents work for every ball. Kate and Tayla you two had a blinder and the work you are pu ng in at training is paying off. In a ack, Casey and Vic were strong and the passing was direct and your leads and a ack on the ball was great to watch. Another strong game by Em in goals, your shoo ng accuracy was amazing. Very hard to choose awards but the Caltex award went to Vic and the ladies commi ee voucher went to Em. Great work girls!
The Mount Burr Netball Club is proud to have Igni on Fitness, South East Conveyors, and Kimberly-Clark Australia (KCA) as major sponsors for the 2021 season. Junior 2: Once again you were amazing girls, your confidence is improving each week, slowly ge ng to know your posi ons on the court. Remember to run into space and not crowd the player with the ball. Some great shoo ng and defence by all once again. Everyone had an intercept and your throwing is improving each game. Welcome to the club Mia, what a great first game and even shot a few goals. Award – Ackys voucher Emily. Junior 1: What a great defensive game. With the older players showing leadership over the court and giving feedback to their teammates. There are s ll a few key things we need to work on but it is amazing to see everyone pu ng into play some of the skills we've worked on at training. Congratula ons to Sophie, who is now a part of our Junior 1's side. Safe to say that she had a warm welcome from the girls. Award went to Sophie (Acky's Takeaway). 13 & Under: Good job girls. A big improvement from last week. It was great to see us adapt to the many changes throughout the game. Well done for looking down the court to pass the ball. It was an improvement to see strong leads to the ball while ge ng in front of our players. It was great to see people having pa ence when passing the ball, wai ng for our teammates to be in a good posi on to receive the pass. I am impressed that we are beginning to put into prac ce what we are learning at training. Thanks to Ann for umpiring, Stacey for ming, and Harley for scoring. Well done to Lola for winning the Toy Kingdom award and Holly for winning Acky's Deli award. 15 & Under: Strong start to the game girls. It was good to see more determina on and want for the ball. Fantas c work from both goalies, Jemma and Jasmine you both worked hard all day. Everyone put training into play and defended down the court which caused turnovers. Defence was ght even a er trying different combina ons you all adapted well. This game proved to us what a versa le team we have and showed some promising passages of play. Best players went to Jasmine (Mad Penquin) and Jemma (Duckys). 17 & Under: A slow start to the game with all players lacking energy and enthusiasm for the ball. Our drive down court and use of our structures in the first half was poor and as a result, we turned over a lot of our ball. The second half saw us come out as a new team, using our voice across the en re court and giving second efforts to gain possession. This resulted in a 5-goal turnaround in the third quarter, bringing us back into the game. This con nued for the most of the last quarter, allowing us to take the win. If anything this game
highlighted the importance of your pre-game rou nes and ensuring we are playing for each other not just as individuals. Thanks to Mandy for umpiring, Carol for scoring, and April for ming. Andy's Bakery award went to Charlie Muhovics and Denton's Sportspower award went to Kelsi Sharp. B Reserve: Bad luck girls. We had some great passages of play in transi on down the court. The next step is to do this with consistency for the whole game. It was great to see improvement in losing our players before coming back to the ball. Our work around the circle is improving, being aware of the space to create be er opportuni es for our goalies. It is great to see that we are star ng to gel as a team and have more confidence in each other. Thanks to Lynne for umpiring, Georgia for ming, and once again Sally for scoring. Congratula ons to Tess for winning the Mad Penguin award and Jazmin for winning the Millicent Chemist award. B Grade: A game we will be happy to put behind us. We need to warm up with focus and as a team, so we can hit the court with purpose. In training, we will focus on our ming and maintaining possession even under pressure. Awards went to Kelly Gamble (Millicent Chemist), who no ma er how many mes she hit the deck, got up ready to go again and Courtney Gregory (Carapace) our ever-reliable. A Reserve: Bad luck girls, disappoin ng to see another loss on the board, we definitely had opportuni es in that game to have a different outcome but unfortunately, it was not our day. Defence worked endlessly in the goal circle taking advantage of the li le chances they got to send the ball back down to the a ack end. The goal circle saw changes at every quarter and patches of play showed signs of us regaining confidence and as a result goals being scored. Awards went to Ava (Enchanted Beauty) and Claudia (Millicent Florist). A Grade: Great start to the game. Our defensive pressure across the en re court right from the first whistle allowed us to get numerous turnovers and combined with quick transi ons down court led to us gaining a no ceable gap on the scoreboard early. This gap was maintained through consistency in our pressure and strong feeding into our goalies who were shoo ng accurately. McKenzie Bevan came on to make her A Grade debut in the third and demonstrated her capacity to play senior netball with some great drives out of defensive and hands to balls. Congratula ons Macca - we look forward to seeing you out on court more throughout the season. Thanks to Lisa for umpiring, Heidi for scoring and Sam for ming. Awards went to Madi Hagge (Sassi award) and McKenzie Bevan (Enchanted Beauty).
A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW ROUND 5 KALANGADOO v NANGWARRY Kalangadoo started strong with the defensive combina on of Mikalia Pi and Chelsea Croser working relentlessly in the circle to provide plenty of scoring opportuni es for Kalangadoo, as they went into the first quarter break with a lead 15 to 6. Kylie Heaver injured herself at the start of the second quarter which saw Eb Lawson change into Wing A ack. Eb combined with Hayley Burner to work the ball into Nangwarry goaler's Cassie Dinnison and Angela Pra , who were under great pressure to find space. Kalangadoo went in to the main break 33 to Nangwarry's 9. At half me both teams made a couple of changes including Nangwarry goalers switching roles and Kalangadoo youngster Sophie Wrightson entering the game at Goal A ack. Kalangadoo's Wing A ack Jane Auld used her speed to her advantage and provided plenty of drive to feed the goalers. The final quarter saw Shelby Ryan make her debut in goals. Shelby and Kori combined well to find space with ght physical pressure from Nangwarry's Carly Ploenges and Hayley Vanderhorst. Kalangadoo were able to convincingly run the game out strongly to finish 63 goals to Nangwarry 17. Best players - Kalangadoo: Jane Auld and Mickaila Pi ; Nangwarry: Hayely Vanderhorst and Ebony Lawson.
opportuni es. Hatherleigh went into the first break up by 1 goal. The second quarter saw Hatherleigh step up their defence and that combined with some wayward passing by Glencoe, made it hard for the Glencoe goalies to get many opportuni es. Lacey Haines made the most of the opportuni es down the other end, scoring 9 goals for the quarter pu ng Hatherleigh ahead by 7 at half me. Hatherleigh’s mid court in Tegan Merre , Sarah Faulkner and Lara McGregor showed some great ball movement down the court and were able to provide some great feeding to Haines and Pulmer, before Faulkner came off injured. Merre moved into centre, giving youngster Rosie Ne le an opportunity to hit the court. Whilst Glencoe’s Rebecca Edwards had been making her opponent work hard all day, this quarter saw her step it up a notch with many deflec ons caused that just weren't able to be converted. Hatherleigh’s Maddie Redman was making Caitlin Hentschke and Laura Edwards have to work for every ball and Glencoe were held to 7 for the quarter, whilst Hatherleigh were able to score 10. The last quarter saw both teams not wan ng to give an inch with Hentschke scoring 13 goals straight, however Hatherleigh were able to hold their own also scoring 13, leading them to a 10 goal victory.
GLENCOE v HATHERLEIGH In warm condi ons this game was always going to be a good tussle. The first quarter saw a couple of turnovers by both sides with Glencoe's Sarah Edwards and Emily Thompson combining well and able to get hands to many rebounds while Hatherleigh's Maddie Pulmer took a while to se le into the goal circle, missing a few early
KONGORONG v ROBE Both teams started strong capitalising on any errors. Robe’s Tori Gluyas and Sarah Laurie combined well and created some great scoring posi ons. To take a 11 goal lead at the first break. Kongorong 6 Robe 17. The second quarter saw Kongorong’s Sarah Beare return to centre a er a fantas c first quarter by Georgia Seidel
for her return a er sustaining a foot injury in the first game. Robe also make changes swapping their circle defenders. Although a much more even contest on the court, Robe extended their lead at half me. Kongorong 13 Robe 28. Robe brought the only change back to the court, introducing Maisie Hayes into the defence circle. Kongorong started the quarter with much more determina on which generated some great passages of plays and scoring opportuni es and only going down by 3 for the quarter. Kongorong 25 Robe 43. The final quarter saw both teams remain unchanged with Robe extending their lead throughout the quarter following some undisciplined play, pu ng Kongorong on the back foot. Final score Kongorong 31 def by Robe 57. Best players - Kongorong: Sam Fox and Emily Lightbody; Robe: Georgia Perkins and Asha Pe t. PORT MACDONNELL v TANTANOOLA Tantanoola started strong, especially the strength of GS Emma Gould shoo ng 15 out of the 19 goals scored. Emma con nued her precise shoo ng, moving and holding throughout the game making it a tough job for the Bays’ defenders Lisa McGregor and Morgan Amy. Port Mac although slow to start, slowly li ed in the 2nd quarter but s ll not enough, Jess Trench working hard in WA and feeding well into goalies Brooke Williams and Kirby Carrison. Tantanoola’s accurate shoo ng and strong rebounds by Emma and Jami Walker dominated the game. Michelle Moore and Vic Lucas driving and working hard all day in C posi ons, even in the unexpected heat. Again Tantanoola were too strong in the last quarter scoring 18 goals to Port Mac 7.
