‘sauce’ tops off 100 senior games for the murphies Today Alex Hentschke plays his 100th senior game for the Glencoe Football Club. Alex, or as he is more commonly known, 'Sauce', began his playing days for Glencoe back in 2003 with the Junior Colts. He con nued playing his junior footy with Glencoe through to 2011, where in that year he debuted for his first senior game with the club. Playing predominantly in the forward line, Sauce has made his mark as a big target up forward for not only the Murphies, but also represen ng the Mid South East at interleague level during the 2013, 2014 and 2019 seasons. He was a member of the 2019 A Grade grand final side and in the 2014 season demonstrated his strength and accuracy in front of the s cks to claim the leading goalkicker award for Glencoe in that year. Sauce has had a strong start to this year, currently featuring in the top ten for the A Grade goalkicking and con nuing to provide a strong presence up forward. Today should be memorable as not only is he playing his 100th senior game for the club, but gets to run out there with his brother, Ben. But really, let's face it, what good is a Pie without the Sauce. The Glencoe Football Club wish Alex all the best today in his 100th game. All the best Sauce!

josh wallis
This week will see Josh Wallis play his 150th game for Mount Burr (144 A Grade / 5 B Grade). Having played his en re junior career at Mount Burr, Josh made his A Grade debut in 2011 when s ll captain of the Senior Colts. A er quickly establishing himself as one of the club's and league’s best defensive players, he was a key player in the 201516-17 A Grade flags, being named as the Stan Jones Medallist in the 2015 decider. Josh was also named in the 2015 and 19 MSE Team Of The Year. Along with younger brother Sam, Josh is always one of the first players to a end working bees or help out around the club. Congratula ons Josh.
VIEW FROM THE HILL Near arc c condi ons around the grounds last week, just hope this isn't a sign of the mes heading in winter! Kalangadoo travelled to Hatherleigh as one of two undefeated teams in the compe on and kept their unblemished record in tact coming away with a 26pt win at the end of a very close and even contest. At the end of the first half only a point separated the sides much to the delight of the very large crowd enjoying Hatherleigh's sponsors day. The third quarter was much of the same with neither side being able to gain any ascendency with Kalangadoo holding a slender 1 goal margin heading into the last and the stage was set for a ba le to the end. However, Kalangadoo had other ideas and was able to keep Hatherleigh goalless in the final quarter whilst adding 3 to their tally and taking the win. Kalangadoo's even spread of ball winners and scorers were the difference in the end. Along with cool experienced minds of the K'doo side, they were able to withstand whatever Hatherleigh threw at them. For mine, best players for the victors were Andrew Stone, Billy Galpin and Jason Bannister, but officially went the way of Lachy Jones, Mitch Lowe, Bannister, Galpin, Ma Fatchen and new Kaniva-Leor recruit Josh La Rocca. For the home side, they are not far away and will definitely make the four come September, their challenge now is to find a way to combat the teams above them. Be er players for Hatherleigh I thought were Jake Dowdy, Zach Jones and Joe Ferguson-Lane. Others to feature in the official best player list were Sam Waring, Will Chay, Jack Gray and Jed Telfer. In our first upset of the season, a determined Tantanoola Tigers ou it came out with all guns blazing and proved to the compe on and more importantly themselves that they are capable of matching sides when a full four quarter effort is applied. In a free-flowing game, Tantanoola led all day, but more importantly a er half me held Mt Burr goal-less for the en re half and came away with a well deserved 18pt win. Mt Burr were again wayward in front of goal boo ng 6-11 for the game, but take nothing away from the Tigers, this win was all theirs to savour. Jak Ryan played his first game for the Tigers, and although not fully recovered from injury, gave Tantanoola a target up forward and he didn't disappoint kicking 4 goals for the game. Jack Dawe was at his brilliant best around the ground and in front of goals and finished the day with 5 through the big s cks. While for Mt Burr, is the new coach honeymoon over? Whilst they are missing a couple of key players due to injury, they just seem to be missing the mark at the moment and something that coach Reece Duncan I'm sure will be addressing throughout the week. In a sign that they were far from content with the effort on the weekend, Mt Burr only named three best players in Sam Wallis, Tyler Stanley and Nathan Muhovics.
Whilst for the home side Dawe was deservedly named BOG followed by Chris Oliver, Jordan Ha , Hayden Brown, Braydn Reilly and Cam Saint. Over at Nangwarry and Port MacDonnell controlled the game from the first bounce and were never really challenged throughout the day. Nangwarry con nue to improve, but when coming up against a top four side in Port MacDonnell and with their strength all over the ground, the scoreboard was never going to be a pre y sight for the Saints. Port MacDonnell took the opportunity to rest some of their players with no Merre or McGregor listed, but due to their depth they were able to cover them without any difficulty. For the visitors they had 13 individual goal kickers, led by Brandon Newton and Ned Wilke with 6 each, whilst for Nangwarry Luke Thomson, Ben Just and Josh Timms all kicked 1 goal apiece. Be er players for Port MacDonnell went the way of Ned Wilke, Daron McElroy, Mark Smith, Kev Thomson, and Brandon Newton. For Nangwarry they were best served by Jake McKeon, Tom Vanderhorst, Joel Virtanen, Ben Dinnison, Marcus Thomson and George McWaters. Down at the Robe seaside the Roosters took on an injury ravaged Glencoe, but in saying that you can only beat what the opposi on put on the park. For Glencoe to have any shred of hope they needed to win the toss and kick with the breeze, they didn't and the rest, as they say is history! Tom Wachtel for Robe dominated the centre and around the ground, giving first use to his on-ball brigade led by Jordan Pe t and coach Jack Kelly. For the Murphies young Dylan Pfitzner was paying close a en on to in-form forward Zac Deane who s ll managed to kick 5 goals to lead his side's goal kickers for the day, but he would've had a field day if not for the young defenders efforts. Robe had ball winners and runners across every line, whereas Glencoe were relying on too few to do too much. Robe were able to spread the workload over their en re 21, with an impressive 10 individual goal scorers for the day. Up at the other end big Alex Hentschke was their only mul ple goal scorer with 2. Be er players for the home side, and you couldn't go pass young Pe t and Wachtel, who completely dominated the centre clearances and provided their forwards with every opportunity to score. Deane picked up 3rd best with James Francisco, youngster Kane Dunn (nephew of past Rooster John Dunn) and Brodie Foulds rounding out Robes best. Official best players from Glencoe went the way of Robbie Smith, Pfitzner, Tom Edwards, Dylan Childs, Pa y Mitchell and Alex Hentschke. To this week, and it doesn't get any bigger than the clash between the two current undefeated sides in the compe on – Kalangadoo and Robe. Both sides have poten al match winners on every line and the match ups between the two sides will be crucial to the outcome of the game.
Who will be able to nullify their opposi on, whilst s ll being able to have an impact on the game? Robe may just have a slight advantage in the ruck contests, but will their on-ball brigade be tough enough to take advantage of it? Kalangadoo are a welldrilled, strong at the ball side and with the familiarity that they have with one another may just be the deciding factor to today's final result. The weather is looking a treat and I would expect a large crowd in a endance to see a cracking game of country footy. Another top four clash will also be played today down at Port MacDonnell when they host Hatherleigh. This is another interes ng game with both sides chock full of talent and plenty of run. Having seen both sides in recent weeks, I'm leaning slightly towards Hatherleigh, purely on their run and carry style of play, and I think they will be too quick for the Bay boys. The ruck duel between Daron McElroy and Sam Waring will be one of the highlights of the day with both tall mbers generally being able to give first use to their side. The Port MacDonnell forwards may test the Hatherleigh defenders as they generally play quite tall, whilst Hatherleigh tend to rebound and set up many of the scoring opportuni es from half-back. That all important scoreboard pressure is going to be cri cal to both teams as to who can gain any ascendancy in the match. Mt Burr host Nangwarry and this match could be closer than most might think. Mt Burr will be looking to rebound strongly a er the disappointment of last week, whilst for Nangwarry this is a real chance to show the compe on have much they have improved. Nangwarry have been slowly building, and it is clear that they are no ceably be er than previous seasons, just how much will be the test today. I don't think Mt Burr will let this one slip and will be looking to get back on the winners list with a strong showing, but Nangwarry will make them earn it. In today's last game Glencoe host Kongorong in what could go either way. It is no secret Glencoe are a very different side to the grand final side of 2019 and they rely heavily on their nucleus of be er players. Kongorong too are a far different side to 2019 and have recruited strongly so will the ins for Kongorong outweigh the outs for Glencoe? Kongorong have certainly been around the mark in recent weeks, but have struggled to put four quarters together, but today might just be the day that it all comes together for the Hawks. It's been a very long me since Kongorong took the points off Glencoe but if Kongorong are to have any chance of seeing finals ac on in 2021, they not only need to win today, but bury Glencoe on the scoreboard. Glencoe won't be handing the game over, there is too much pride at stake for the Murphies, but they might just have to be content with coming second today.

Round 6 saw us make the trip across to Hatherleigh. Overcast weather made for a typical South East winter's day. Kalangadoo were well and truly outplayed in 3 out of the 4 grades. A Grade the only excep on. Under 11: We had our first genuine test in the Mini's last week. Hatherleigh have a huge pool of kids to play, with majority of their team being quite a lot bigger and more developed. But like in weeks past, this never seems to deter our group of Mini's. It seems the bigger the opposi on are the harder we play. It was great to see the kids get in and enjoy themselves again. Chad May got player of the week for his two spectacular hangers, one of them was a 1 hander! Junior Colts: We had a few kids out last week, we were very small and undersized. To their credit they took it right up to Hatherleigh. Once again, their fierce pressure a highlight of their game. As President, I would like to acknowledge Hatherleigh and Under 14's coach Dylan Clough's approach to junior sport. They see a big picture for all kids playing footy. Once again, thank you for sending 5-6 of your older kids across to help us out! Senior Colts: Another tough day at the office for the boys. It's always hard playing with 10-12 new people in a team. Keep working hard, listen to your coaches and results are just around the corner. Reserves: A tough day at the office for us last week. We went into the game with one of the best Reserves teams in recent memory. We are lacking some con nuity within the group, due to so many new faces. We played a very respectable brand of footy. We were hard, skilful and spread

well. But ran out of legs in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, we had a couple of serious injuries which didn't help our cause on the day. Aidan Auld went down for a high ankle sprain and as history suggests, when Aidan goes down so does Reece who is up for a 4th knee reconstruc on. Seniors: Hatherleigh posed a serious threat and a truly tough challenge last week. We knew that coming into the game. They are fast and skilful and when you play them at home, they are tough to overcome. Fortunately for us our system prevailed and we ran out victors by 24 points. We had a few changes to our side with Rolls Royce Bre y Lindner coming in for his first game. Reevsey, Chrissy, Jus n Bromley, Benny Greggs and BOOM recruit Josh Larocca in for his first game for K'doo. Once again Lachy Jones was sensa onal being named B.O.G., a big hanger late in the game sealed the deal. As always, our two captains Mitch and Sammy were superb, rarely was ng the ball and working harder than most all day. Last week was a really mature win by our group, it’s pleasing to see our game style stand up against good opposi on. This week sees us host Robe in what will be a ba le of the undefeated. Robe are playing a good team first style of footy and will be a tough ask. But with Benny and Jonny Mules back in and us at full strength, let's hope we can keep the momentum going forward. Go Maggies!

Junior Colts: We came up against the second placed Glencoe who were in some good form leading into the week. As for us we had a really good week on the track and there was a good confident feeling in the rooms before the game. The first quarter started exactly how we wanted it to with Cooper ge ng his hands on the ruck tap pu ng it down the midfielders’ throats. We were able to capitalise on this by some good forward cra from Mason, Angus and Benny. Repeat Glencoe entries had the bench worried but the backline was as solid as ever only le ng one score through for the day. We were able to run out winners by 55 points. Charles Moore ran all day and had about 25 kicks to earn himself best on ground. Kaiden and Cooper controlled the midfield ba le while John and Angus looked dangerous up forward. This week we come up against K’doo and we are hoping to keep the momentum rolling with another win. Senior Colts: Last week we were back on home soil for another close clash with Glencoe. The sun was out and there was a slight breeze favouring the church end. Both teams hit the group running early and it was clear that the wind would play a role in the game. The Robe boys kicked 2 goals for the quarter but missed mul ple opportuni es to punish Glencoe when we had the wind. We went into the quarter me break 16 points up but by no means a safe lead. In the second, Glencoe came out firing with a number of centre clearances, thanks to their midfielders and some help from the breeze. They quickly closed the margin as we struggled to kick accurately into the wind, kicking 3 straight points. The game turned into a scrap with both teams throwing their weight around. 2 players were sent from the field with yellow cards, leaving both teams a man down. We went into the main break with a 3point lead. The game was on! In the second half, the game really broke open. Robe came out firing and kicked 5 straight goals. Majority of goals rebounding from half back, with Hudson Peel leading the backline and cu ng off everything. The midfield started to click for us as we had the wind back on our side and penetrated the 50 on mul ple occasions. Codee Weston and Max Robertson having mul ple goals for the day. We went

into the final break with a sizable 38point lead. Robe were by no means keep to stop their rampage in the last quarter. It was as if the wind had no influence. They came out and kicked another 5 goals with Mason Keane rucking all day and also pu ng a couple of goals to his name. Glencoe ba led hard all day but couldn't hit the scoreboard in the last half. We came out victorious with a 70-point lead. This week we head down to Kalangadoo for another ba le to maintain our top spot. I will see you there! A Grade: This could have been a danger game for Robe with it missing at least seven of its regular A grade players. The slight breeze favoured the town end otherwise the condi ons were perfect for football. Robe won the toss and kicked with the slight breeze and started well except that the goal kicking yips which caused grief last week con nued and therefore they did not take full value for their efforts. The en re quarter was played in Robe’s forward line and the Glencoe defence was under intense pressure and Robe went into the 2nd quarter leading by 6 goals. Glencoe improved their commitment in the second quarter which coupled with Robe’s players star ng to over use the ball resulted in Glencoe outscoring Robe by one goal and therefore at half me Robe led by 36 points. Glencoe moved the ball directly through its forward line while Robe’s defenders chased kicks. Robe started the third with purpose and played a complete team game, smothering tackling and backing each other up. This resulted in Robe keeping the ball in the forward line and con nually peppering the goals. Glencoe could not get the ball past centre easily and when they did Robe’s defence held firm. Robe added a further six goals to Glencoe nil. Robe con nued its merry way in the last quarter keeping Glencoe scoreless in the last half for a 100 point win. Best players: Jordan Pe t, Tom Wachtel, Zac Deane, James Francisco, Jack Kelly. Goal scorers: 5 Zac Deane, 4 - James Francisco, 2 Sam Clements, Jack Kelly, Egan Regnier, 1 - Kane Dunn, Sam Huebner, Ben Jarre , James Kokiousis, Jordan Pe t.

GLENCOE KONGORONG
Junior Colts: The Junior Colts have had a tough couple of weeks, losing two on the trot to take their record to 4-2 on the season. The Mini Murphies found it hard to apply any scoreboard pressure all day resul ng in a 55 point loss to the Roosters. Kaleb Price was the only player for the Murphies to give the goal umpires any chance of ac on, boo ng the team's only score of the day in the second quarter. Lachlan Brierly led from the front once again, con nuing on his fantas c form to take out the best player award while Sammy Haase used his legs once again to get to the contest and used his skills to deliver the ball down the ground, being named second best. Marcus McGrath is definitely following in the old man's footsteps, featuring consistently in the best and never having a down game to take out third, while the 80's throwback, spor ng the filthiest mullet you've ever seen, Brodie 'Poida' Burdon played his best game for the year to take out 4th best. Kallan Price got one back on the big brother to feature at 5th best, while Connor 'McGregor' Tweddle must've been well rested from his trip to sunnier places to take out 6th best. The lads will now be looking to regroup this week before heading into the bye. Senior Colts: As with the Minis, the Senior Colts have had a few learning experiences over the previous few weeks. Watching the lads, there is definitely the talent there to do great things this year, they just need to focus on the job at hand and it'll come together. This side never stops ba ling and it was once again the case against a good Robe side. Mark Arthurson is a prime example of this never say die a tude, taking out first best with his tenacity and persistence once again shining through. Darcy Williamson had another fantas c game, providing stability and consistency week-in, weekout, while with the number of mes I've had to type his name, you'd think I could do it without bringing up the budget each week... Guillaume Ros-Smith was once again in the mix running to all areas regularly accumula ng important possessions. Rounding out the best was Kyle Maney with another solid performance and one of the team's two goals for the day and Digby RichardsFennell, another lad that is a picture of consistency each week. Reserves: It seems like another week, another Thursday (and Saturday), a emp ng to get enough bodies on the park for Whi a due to injuries and unavailability. With that in mind, Whi a would undoubtedly be pleased with a great effort by the lads who saw victory snatched away on the last kick of the day, but also a feeling that one got away.

The back six ba led courageously all day, with the ball ge ng down there regularly, but they were able to apply enough pressure to limit the damage on the scoreboard, with Robe having more of the scoring opportuni es. Marcus McGrath, who is rumoured to actually be Benjamin Bu on, just con nues to put himself in good situa ons to cut off a acks, and when the ball hits the ground, will never turn it over. Jezza was also fantas c all day, making regular spoils and consistently repelling a acks from the goal line. Mark Arthurson backed up for his second game of the day and truly led from the front in the forward line, showing a lot of poise, but also forward pressure, to con nually lock the ball in, or send it deep into the forward line. Chicko Finnis was fantas c down back all day, showing no signs of the hammy injury that kept him out of the previous week's contest while Darcy Hogan was undoubtedly best for the day, providing first use of the footy in the ruck and showing his mobility around and on the ground, regularly sending the ball into the forward 50. Hopefully this week at home the boys can get everyone out onto the field and have a good showing against a Kongorong side that is travelling pre y well. A Grade: As is the theme at the minute in the senior sides, depth and availability is proving a bit of a hurdle to be able to compete at the level that Frazer and the boys want to be at. The young fellas that are being elevated are doing an awesome job to help the side compete, but it takes me to get accustomed to the level of A Grade footy, par cularly when you are up against a quality side such as Robe. Robbie Smith ba led ferociously all day to take out first best, earning himself an extra breathing hole in his lower lip for his trouble. Hopefully it heals up quickly and it won't affect his availability for this week. Dylan Pfitzner has stepped up in the last few weeks, playing another solid game against the Roosters to earn himself second best, while Tommy Edwards once again ran hard to put himself in good posi ons to feature at third. Dylan Childs con nues to be a strong leader on the field with his run and persistence, appearing in the best yet again, while Pa y Mitchell gave his all in a milestone game to take out fi h. Rounding out the best was the Big Sauce Hentschke, who provided a strong target and presented well to kick 50% of the team's score on a day where scores were hard to come by. This week the boys will need to be up and about to take on Kongorong, and will have to give it their best to take out a win and get their season back on track. Let's go Murphies!

GLENCOE KONGORONG
A great day a fortnight ago, when we welcomed our sponsors to the club to enjoy a beverage or two and watch some good footy. A big thank you to all our valued sponsors for their con nuing support of junior and senior football. A er today's game we have the much-an cipated Coola Cup. Shout out to Brad Long, Emily Lightbody, Ash Galwey and the crew that has helped pull the event together, and to the Ellis Family for allowing us the use of facili es for the event. A fortnight ago we hosted Robe, and these are the write ups: Minis: Thanks to the Robe coach, parents and players for making the trip for the under 11 and Auskick games. Best players: Zach Angelino with some great smothers, tackles and defensive efforts, Ella Bogie, who is improving each week and was in amongst it a lot more, Abby Brant played a solid first game. I also gave an award to Connor Gordon for keeping his feet in a game where a lot of kids didn't. In summary there were good signs with kids improving and being more confident, now we just need to keep that progress going. Also, thanks to the Kongorong kids that filled in for Robe team. Junior Colts: The weather gods were on our side for Sponsors Day as we welcomed Robe to our home ground. History always shows they are a well drilled side with plenty of talent, but we were set and ready to play our brand of quality team 1st footy, in front of a healthy crowd. From the first bounce the match ups looked pre y even, and for 3 quarters was an entertaining and tough game of footy. Much to the credit of the en re team this con nued into the last quarter where we were able to kick away to record a comfortable win. The final score didn't reflect the ghtness of the game throughout the 4 quarters. Best players were super tough to pick which is a great problem to have. But the Swallow Drive Meats best player went to Declan Richardson who we set a job to do before the game, and he executed perfectly. Second best and Rocks Shop Award went to Tyler Richardson who kicked 4 along with providing plenty of run in the midfield. Jim Kyle across half back is improving every week and always against the opposi on's best forwards, and rarely beaten, took home the Rocks Tavern Award. A er a tough couple of weeks, we saw our captain back playing some of his best footy, influen al around the ground with some hard work take home the Mick Mullan Encouragement Award (Kur s Lasle ). Axl Von Stanke showed what he is capable of up forward with a goal, almost a couple more, and some compe ve work to lock the ball in, received the Coaches Award. Finishing off the best players could have gone to nearly every player on the ground, but a er much delibera on on the bench for solid 4 quarters on the back flank and se ng up plenty of play down the line, Nate Von Stanke-Dowie took home the Angelino Family Award. Today we take on Glencoe who have started the season strongly and we will need to be on our game from the 1st bounce. Go Hawks! Senior Colts: Saturday was set up for a great day of footy. Challenging, against who are this year's standout, and the feeling of a home game. Our boys had the challenge in front of them and they stood against a tall side and showed the Kongorong heart. In a very ght fought tussle, we were unlucky to end up 2 points down at the final siren. The list of best players needed to be 21 awards as the whole team was very resilient and was nearly unfair to only name six. George Stanley again showed why we love his a ack and a tude at full back, with the Ma hews Petroleum Award. Riley Maconachie was like the Riley of old, picking up the Janeway Concre ng Award, and even went on to feature in the best
2nd qtr
3rd qtr
later in the day in the Reserves, to show he had found some great form. The MT Wheels Award went to Joel Maconachie with his strong defensive work and good use of the ball. Jake Carrigan earnt the Badenoch's Deli Award with his strong presence across half back and his work at ground level. Will Von Stanke had another great game on the back flank finding plenty of space and se ng many forward thrusts with 5th best. The 6th best award supplied by Spot-On Fishing was accepted by James Allen who tried endlessly to provide a target up forward and in the ruck and when asked to go back, cut off some forward a acks by Robe. Well done to the boys, and we look forward to a ght game against Glencoe. Reserves: We went from have 9 miss out on a game the week before, to having the Maconachie twins fill-in, plus big Bulka back out of re rement. We came out firing in the first quarter having 90% of the play, but unfortunately we couldn't capitalise on this, and kicked 2 goals 5 points. Second quarter we went to sleep and thought the job was done, we fought back in the third and fourth, but went down by 5 points. The good old saying, poor kicking is poor footy was certainly true. Best went to Sean 'Pumba' Farrell receiving the Commersh Award, second Brayden 'Nugget' Leicester with the Collins Court Butcher Award, third went to Callum 'Waggs' Wagstaffe with Killara Food Centre Award, fourth awarded to Bayley 'Bubba' Von Duve with Killara Food Centre Award. Riley Maconachie stepping up from the Colts, awarded Pick Ave Bakery, and sixth went to Jack 'Mull' Mullan the Club Tea Award. A Grade: A ghtly contested game against ladder leaders Robe, a fortnight ago. The first half was a ght tussle with only four points separa ng the two sides at the half me break. A sluggish start for us in the third quarter saw Robe kick away and extend their lead to 30 points at threequarter me. The boys rallied in the last, to peg back the charge from Robe, going down by 28 points at the final siren. Ma Cordy was in stellar form to take out first best, and the Commercial Hotel Award. Collins Court Butcher Award for second best went to the ever consistent performer in Ma Weistra, closely followed by the captain leading from the front in Bryn Weaver to get Killara Food Centre Award. Corben O'Dea was in amongst it and received the Killara Food Centre Award also for fourth best, with the big fella Sco Fleming rounding out the best players with the Club Tea Award. Four quarters of consistent footy are needed today, as we take on Glencoe, back each other in and play the brand of footy we have been working towards and the results will speak for themselves. Last weekend we started our big woodchop. Many thanks to Ryan Brant, Tony Bogie, Kane Brant and Tabeel Trading for the machinery and chainsaw skills, also to the 'few' that helped out on the spli ers. Shout out to the S hl Shop for dona ng some new chainsaw chains too, greatly appreciated. Next weekend (Sunday 30th) we will again be cu ng and spli ng the stockpile of mber and selling ute and trailer loads. Contact commi ee persons for details on costs and loca on. Yesterday we catered for a large clearing sale, many thanks to everyone who helped out on the day, or in the lead up to it. Busy couple of days se ng up Coola Cup also, so well done to everyone on working together to get it all done. Good luck to all teams today against Glencoe, enjoy tonight at Coola Cup, and don't forget to help out at clean-up on Sunday... many hands make light work! Go Hawks!

PORT MACDONNELL HATHERLEIGH
Senior Colts: What a turnaround from a week ago, we bounced back strong against an undermanned Nangwarry side. We welcomed Mason Millard for his first game at the club. And as our luck would have it, we again lost another player to injury, unfortunately Riely will be unavailable for the rest of the season with a tendon injury, we wish him all the best with his recovery. Be er players for the day, Baylan had his best game for the club, giving our forwards plenty of the ball, Reily who was having a field day on the ball, Connor reliable in the backline rebounding all day, Hayden solid in defence all day, Jake bagged 4 goals and presented well, Kobe played his usual solid hard at the ball game. Let's see if we can string two wins together against Hatherleigh. B Grade: Footy is a funny game, it has been said many mes before, but we have gone from lending players to Tantanoola the previous week to doing the old B Grade ring around on Thursday night to fill a team. With a team filled and ready to go we took on Nangwarry for the round six clash. A er a 0-4 start to the season, we were looking to con nue the good form that we had been building on and con nue we did, unfortunately for Nangwarry we were a li le too polished and we ended up having a convincing win. You must admire the effort that Nangwarry con nuously serve up week a er week and if our games are anything to go by Nangwarry come with great pressure and effort that some me doesn't reflect on the scoreboard, I am posi ve that if they keep heading in their current direc on the win isn't far away from them. Best for the week was Ben Milstead, who had a delayed start to the season but is really star ng to hit his straps, second best was Kyall McLean in a very brief return from the A Grade based on this form, third best was the returning Trent Ebejer who has returned to the club and hit the ground running, fourth best was Jordy Carrison in a great performance a er filling in for Tantanoola, fi h best was the skipper who put on a goal kicking show for the crowd, sixth best was Mr. Reliable Gus McGregor is another excellent game. This week we face one of the biggest tests of the year against

Hatherleigh. Let's hope we con nue the good form we have shown we have shown this year. A Grade: Winter is coming, is a quote from a reasonably famous TV show and winter had certainly raised its ugly head as we headed towards Nangwarry for the round 6 clash. Icy winds and the odd shower really showed us what the next few months has in store for us. Injuries have followed all seasons and unfortunately we lost another player Ben McGregor to a lower injury that has nothing to do with his age. Another soldier out and another soldier in, with Jake Schelter returning from a broken hand, Tarquin Newton also came in for his first game of the year. The game we won't spend a lot of me dissec ng as it was a comfortable victory in the end, but it is worth no ng that even though it was a comfortable victory Nangwarry showed a lot of improvement from the last me we played them and hopefully if they con nue this projectory the win they are looking for isn't too far away. From our side it was a really good performance and each week we seem to be ge ng be er and be er as the boys are star ng to get more games together. Best for the week was the star of the SE Voice newspaper this week, Ned Wilkie, who is pu ng together a very nice season together, second best was Daron McElroy who also is having a great season comparable to his Mail Medal season dare we say, third best was another regular in this part of the budget notes, Mark Smith another who is pu ng together a very nice season, fourth best was Kevin Thomson who also hasn't missed this part of the write up too o en this year and fi h best was Brandon Newton in his first appearance in the best for this year in a very nice display kicking 6 goals and s ll adding plenty of forward pressure. This week starts the run home to the halfway part of the season with some very hard games coming up against Hatherleigh at home next week, Robe away the following week and then to close off the first half of the season the old nemesis Kongorong. The next few weeks will really give us an idea of where we sit in the pecking order.

PORT MACDONNELL HATHERLEIGH
Under 11: Great game again against Kalangadoo on Saturday in the U11s. With some good condi ons for the game a large number of kids took to the field. The start of the game was a li le scrappy and with everyone keen to get a touch we were all running around in packs making it hard for clear possessions. As the game went on we were able to spread and make space which seen more kids brought in to the game and some great passages of play by foot and handball. Really pleasing to see everyone sharing the ball around and bringing their teammates in to the game. Next is to work on our leading to the ball coming forward rather than standing s ll calling for the ball or leading backwards, something for us to work on at training. Award winners for the day were: $10 Dentons Sports Power award - Paddy Fitz played a great game and had many touches using the ball well. HFC $5 award - Zavier Gurney took a great mark and is gaining confidence each week, he has a good understanding of the game and reads the ball well. Ladies Commi ee award - Aston Wright found himself in the mix Saturday and was unlucky not to be rewarded with a great kick for goal only to have an unlucky bounce on the goal line denying the 6 pts. McDonalds award Alex Sutherland was brave all day and loves to get in and tackle strong applying good pressure well done mate. Junior Colts: Super proud of this young group and how they go about the game! Kalangadoo were a bit short so we ended up loaning some players to them, we got off to a good start kicking 7 goals in the first quarter, a er that we decided to loan a few of our top age players to help out, our middle and first year players took up the challenge and played very well! The second half Kalangadoo kicked 4 goals, the look on the kids faces makes coaching very rewarding. Best players: Teej Lawlor (Dentons Sports Power), Chloe Bellinger (Millicent Toy Kingdom), Cooper Walters (Stumpy Nilsson), Hannah Bellinger (Peter Walters), Jordan Atkinson (Ladies commi ee canteen). Senior Colts: Last week we took on an undermanned Kalangadoo ou it, it was a great opportunity for a couple of the lads to pull on the Magpie colours and have a ba le with some of our own. Shanksy was once again a

steady head across half back, while Harvey once again had a field day. Joel, Bowie and Paddy were solid again while Riley Prouse and Charlie Sims made the most of their back to back games by snagging some goals. Cheers to all the sponsors who got out early for the game. Reserves: Back at home to face Kalangadoo last week in the ba le of the birds. More injuries in both grades meant we went in with a few underdone players. Kalangadoo threw a lot at us in a solid game of footy over the 4 quarters. In his first game back in a few weeks, Wa o went down about 10 minutes into the game with a hammy. Macca didn't last much longer and we yet again we're stretched with our rota ons. Luckily we were able to grab a 3 goal break in the third quarter and we held that margin for the remainder of the match. Best players: Dylan in an impressive return to footy, Chooka down back, Denno, Reggie, Raysa and Lachie Lang who were all solid contributors over the 4 quarters. We head down to Port Mac this week in what will be a big test against the top side. A Grade: We took on Kalangadoo on our home turf on the weekend and got off to a good start kicking the first two goals of the game. The game evened out and was only a point in it at half me, in the 3rd quarter we had a lot of the ball but couldn't manage to convert that to scoreboard pressure and went into the last a goal down. The last quarter was much of the same, a ght contest with both teams having plenty of the ball but Kalangadoo making the most of their opportuni es and running out with a four goal win. Be er players on the day for us was Sam Waring who took on majority of the ruck duties, Will Chay who is pu ng together a very consistent season who along with Jack Gray did an excellent job down back. Next week we head down to Port Mac which will be another tough game. Thank you to all our wonderful sponsors that a ended Saturday and also the ones that couldn't make it. Without your support we wouldn't have the great club that we have. Thanks also to Smokin Billy and Tamara for the beau ful food. Thanks to all the helpers that made the day a great success.

The trip to Tant last week proved unsuccessful with Tant taking the points in all four games.
Junior Colts: Last week we came up against Tantanoola and we knew we were up for a hard contest. We were a few boys down due to prior commitments. Kongorong were really helpful and lent us two players who played really well and it’s good to see how important it is to them to have the kids out having a kick and enjoying their footy it’s a real credit to Graham. We played a strong game and leading the way was young Jordan Burchell, Rylan McKay and Charlie Bevan. We’ll work on a few things at training and hopefully bounce back this week. Cheers Tom.
in the game for three quarters but a lack of accountability and team work allowed Tant to run over us in the last quarter. I’m sure we will come back strong this week and play the way we are capable of Best players were Kallan Bevan running hard as usual and ge ng to all contests. Finleigh Altschwager was solid on the ball and in defence. Geordie Whennen led hard all day at CHF presen ng in the right spots. Cohen Montuori was tough in the backline clearing the ball all day. Jayden Poulish a acked hard off half back line all game. Charlie Bevan took some strong marks in defence and is improving every game. A Grade: Week back from the bye had us travel to Tant for our next matchup. We were definitely shown how we want to play football and what we should be doing, but currently aren’t doing. We need to find some answers from within and decide which way we’re going to go from here. Winning is never easy, it takes hard work and sacrifice. Two things we lacked on Saturday. Congratula ons to a Mt Burr favourite son - Josh Wallis - on his 150th game. A bloke that gives his all week-in week-out and knows no other way. Thanks too to all for their efforts in making Miss Mt Burr 2021 a successful and fun night. A great show, well done to all involved.

MOUNT BURR NANGWARRY
Congratula ons to the Junior Colts last week, the only team to get the points. Brent and Chris' boys are beginning to put on a bit of a show, they may just need a hand singing the song! Thank you to all who hung around at the club Saturday night and enjoyed one of Gobba's steak sangas! This week we head to the Burr and let’s hope we get a couple of wins. Please remember at home games we need as many volunteers as possible to ensure the club can run. Jobs include goal umpires, boundary umpires, mekeepers, working on the gate, and in the canteen. So, if you could please keep this in mind and offer an hour or two for a few home games please let Tamara Ploenges know. Round 6 sponsors are Pra Fabrica on and Welding and PE Stump Removal. Pra Fabrica on build and deliver high quality products with a focus on aluminium. Their trays and canopies are fully welded construc ons and built tough to last. So, if you are a er a tradie tray give Ange and Joe a call. We also welcome back PE Stump Removal and are grateful to Peter and Gaylene Radley for their con nuing support of the Nangwarry Football Club. Let’s get behind these business and if you are not in the need of either share the post, recommend to a friend and help give back. Under 11: Bit of rain to start our day at Nangas on the weekend. Which cleared up thankfully much to the disappointment of the kids, I think! Another great game played by all. The Pt Mac kids gave us a good contest throughout and our boys were up to the task. Always enjoy watching these kids go about it, bright futures ahead. Junior Colts: We were back at home and welcomed Port Mac hoping to get another win on the board a er our first win the previous week. The pregame talk was to get off to a good start and that is exactly what the boys did. They had a great first half with plenty of scoring shots and keeping the ball in our forward 50. To Smithy and the Bay colts' credit they really stopped a lot of our run in the second half and made things very difficult for us. If we could give out a team best player award, this would have been the game as it was very hard to pick best players. Best player awards went to Archer, Reece, Calais, Cameron, Benne , Riley and a men on to Troy who ba led hard around the ground all day. We are

really star ng to play some good team footy now so let's keep building on that and keep the momentum going. Thanks again to all sponsors and volunteers for con nuing to help each week. Senior Colts: A disappoin ng loss boys, especially since it was a very winnable game. In order to win we must make sure we are all doing the one percenters that win games such as running, being on our player and contes ng the ball. Riley Lock had a great game and was well supported by Jack, Cooper, Jacob, Jonah and Archer. We are extremely grateful to Jack, Cooper and Jonah who have joined our team in the last few weeks, and they are making a huge impact on the game. A shout out must go to Archer who is holding his own each Saturday as a junior colter stepping up to match his opponents. Also, to Noah who con nues to snag those sneaky backdoor goals. We are lucky to have these 5 junior colters Riley Edwards, Taj and Calais who con nue to perform. B Grade: Again, a scramble to get a side on Saturday. Thankfully, we had 16 to play against the undefeated Pt Mac side. Right from the first bounce we were under siege and really did not recover. At the breaks we talked about trying to possess the ball and in passages in the 3rd I thought we did, but obviously class clearly prevailed. Josh Clayfield played his best game for the year, Brad Philby played with a heavy heart and ba led manfully on the half back flank with his partner in crime Nick Rowe. Chris Bonney done his job for the team and Ma y Thomson and 1st gamer Josh Pearce ba led hard all game. Big game against the Burr coming up so hopefully we get numbers at training so we can be compe ve in a winnable game. A Grade: This round against Port Mac I think they finally flicked the switch and kicked away; our pressure was there for the be er part of 2 quarters, but they were too good. Our boys ba led and fought but they answered everything. We know where we are at internally and if we kicked straight the score would not have read what it was. The Bay boys are the team to beat but if we are on for 4 quarters, we could test anyone. There is improvement to come!

ROUND 7 A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW KALANGADOO v ROBE Kalangadoo take on Robe at home this week. The Magpies had a slender win against a gallant Hatherleigh on the weekend, while Robe didn't let Glencoe have things their own way, going down by 10 goals. Kalangadoo were missing goalie Abbey Duncan (inj), she is probably likely to miss this weekend’s match as well. Melissa Russell was in good form for the Magpies, while youngster Kori Collins gained valuable experience in the goal circle. Kalangadoo's defensive line of Chloe Pra , Chelsea Croser and Mikaela Pi are extremely strong and will make Sarah Laurie and Tori Gluyas work hard for every goal. Georgia Perkins has been outstanding for Robe in defence, she will likely line up against Melissa Russell or Ebony McDiarmid which will be an entertaining match up to watch. Once again while missing Abbey Duncan, Kalangadoo con nue to show the depth of talent they have around their club, while also giving their juniors their opportuni es to gain senior experience. Robe, who are decimated with injuries have s ll managed to remain compe ve with many players rising to the occasion of playing A Grade. Kalangadoo to take the points. GLENCOE v KONGORONG Glencoe are at home this week and take on the Hawks. Glencoe are coming off a 10 goal win against Robe, while Kongorong had the week off. Glencoe have had to have a bit of a reshuffle following an injury to Malinda Markiewicz, and have had Laura Edwards playing in goals, with Emily Thompson also showing her versa lity moving from defence to the goal circle and shoo ng accurately. Sarah Edwards has con nued her good form in defence, while Ashlea Edwards was named in the best on the weekend a er another great effort through the mid court, feeding her goalies
extremely well. Glencoe also showed off some junior talent, with Chelsea Owen taking the WD posi on, allowing Rebecca Edwards to move back to GK. Kongorong are s ll winless in 2021, they would be desperate to get a win and give their team some much needed confidence. Emalee Stokker remains a focal point for them, Georgia Seidel was back in the team before the bye a er missing a few games with injury and provides good drive in the mid court. Riley Buckingham has also been consistent for the Hawks, her good form earning her selec on in the Senior Country Championship team. Kongorong's mid court will be put to the test against the dangerous Glencoe combo of Donna Jaeschke and Ashlea Edwards. While the Hawks will be desperate for the win, it won't be this week. Glencoe to add the points to their 2021 tally. PORT MACDONNELL v HATHERLEIGH Port MacDonnell are at home this week and take on the Eagles. Port MacDonnell had their first win of the season on the weekend, scoring a 15 goal win against Nangwarry, while Hatherleigh only just went down to Kalangadoo by a few goals. Hatherleigh would have been disappointed to just miss out on the points against the Magpies and will come out firing against the Demons. Keston Green will miss again with injury, leaving Lacey Haines and Maddie Pulmer in the goal circle. Pulmer was named best on the weekend and Haines has been playing beau ful netball well beyond her years. They will make Demon defenders Morgan Amy and Lisa McGregor work hard for any turnovers. Down the other end of the court, Brooke Williams was outstanding in the Bay’s win against the Saints, shoo ng accurately and moving well. Her and coach Kirby Carrison will have a tussle against the Eagles’ Maddie Redman and Sarah Broadhead
Proudly supporting the Mid South East Football League
who have been in great form in the defensive circle. In the mid court, Lara McGregor has been in outstanding form, and Tegan Merre will be keen to put in a good performance against her old club. Michelle Moore and Jess Trench have been consistent for the Bay through the middle, with Trench in par cular at WD ge ng her hands to any loose balls. Port Mac will work hard to try to get some consistency and another win, but the Eagles should take the points with their overall strength across the court. MOUNT BURR v NANGWARRY Mount Burr travel back home this week and take on the Saints. Mount Burr had what they would see as a disappoin ng loss to Tantanoola, going down by 7 goals, while the Saints went down to Pt Mac by 15. Mount Burr would be disappointed with their loss and will look to bounce back against the Saints. Ebony Clark has been shoo ng beau fully, and is ably backed by Sarah Nulty. Nangwarry’s defensive unit of Hayley Vanderhorst and Carly Ploenges gave 110% against the Bay last weekend and will need to do the same again this week to try to stop the supply to Clark and Nulty. Mount Burr are strong in defence with Madi Hagge and Heidi Clark combining well and being backed by a very strong mid court ensuring any turnovers they get are converted down the other end. The Saints’ goalies in Cassie Dinnison and Ange Pra will need to work hard against Hagge and Clark and will need to shoot accurately with Hagge ’s height an advantage when rebounding. Hayley Burner has been very strong for the Saints through the middle, she will have a good ba le against the Burr's Laura Schultz. Mount Burr should have too much strength across the court and will take the points at home. Tantanoola has the bye.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Well done girls, a really good game in cold wet condi ons. Had some really strong passages of play which was great to see. Need to work on passing to the space and the available player/s. Best players were Te Kani, Sophie and Harper. Junior 1: Great team effort li le Magpies, you are all beginning to gel together nicely as a team to play some really good netball. It was awesome to see leads into the space and nice strong shoulder passes. Let's now work on leading to the ball to make it an easier pass. Molly, Eb and Ashley applied lots of defensive pressure and caused many turnovers. Ava played very controlled netball in a ack and combined nicely with Ma lda in goals who worked extremely hard. Lexi and Emity were able to get their hands to balls on many occasion and drove hard to the goal circle. Keep up the great effort li le Magpies! Awards: Ava - Bakers Delight, Ma lda - Copenhagen, Eb - Muffin Break. 13 & Under: Pleasing to see girls playing as a team and following court plays - even when they don't fully realise it yet! Maya earned Paradise Pizza award for a great display of defensive an cipa on and Ma lda (Muffin Break) for her con nued playing to posi on and improved skills. Special men on to Shayden and Alice for their great adjustment to posi ons and par cularly their ming of their leads. 15 & Under: Great team effort! Ebony earned Athlete's Foot award for an outstanding effort at GD and Chloe (Muffin Break) con nued her great form. Really needed extra awards for Tegan who con nues her hard work and excellent shoo ng form (reckon most goalies would be envious of over 80% accuracy!) and Georgia whose defensive work was spot on. 17 & Under: Tough opposi on but we had 3 strong quarters, le ng them get a run on in the last. Our defence was again fantas c. The opposi on had to work really hard to score goals. Our goalies combined well and used the circle effec vely with Sophie and Eb to create great opportuni es. A massive thank you to the 15s who again helped out our team. B Reserve: A team so suppor ve of each other and willing to play to direc ons is a coach's dream! Well done to all team members, everyone played their role in this win. Jodi earned the Beauty by Rhi award by finishing off the work by teammates with great posi oning and accuracy. She was well “fed” by those around her, par cularly Rhi whose vision, choice of op ons and passing were fantas c. Our defence provided plenty of opportuni es,
NETball club notes and transi on down court con nues to improve. B Grade: Coming out to the game we knew it would be tough, with Hatherleigh si ng in the top 4. Our girls had been switched on from the moment the whistle blew right through to the end of the 4th quarter. The defensive pressure all throughout the court was absolutely amazing and the hard work had really payed off with plenty of hands to the ball which provided a turnover in our favour. Once again our defensive pressure by Nicole and Shanae was top of the range which caused Hatherleigh to con nuously swing the ball around the circle or force them to shoot from a long range. The movement from one end of the court to the other was really amazing to see and made our game flow so nicely. Our mid court played a huge role in providing plenty of opportuni es for our goalies, Gina and Brianna, to move around the circle to score a goal. Very pleased with our determina on on court and the results really showed. Best players were Gina and Nicole. A Reserve: We were not sure what to expect coming into this game with Hatherleigh always tough opposi on, and the game started physically as expected, however to my delight a er taking a few minutes to se le we were able to compose ourselves and start playing a nice controlled game which is something we have been working on. Once again I think everyone gave their all when on court and all did some fantas c things individually as well as support each other as a team. Maddy con nues to improve each week which is pleasing to see and shows she is listening to and learning from everything we are asking of her, while at the other end of the court Shanen who always gives her all was working over me ge ng got lots of hands to balls in and around the ring. Athletes Foot Award - Shanen Pulkkienen, Fasta Pasta Award Maddy Bonanno. A Grade: A solid team effort girls. Well done on increasing the intensity and pressure when needed and for having the confidence to back each other when things got tough. Chloe, Mickey and Chels again supported each other and worked hard to cause many turnovers. Brilliant effort from Mel to control the a ack line and well done to Kori for adjus ng to the intensity of senior netball. Aunty Jane worked relessly to feed the goalies with precision. Eb… wow, thank you again for your con nued support and uncanny ability. Awards: Micky - Birdie Blue, Mel Caltex.
Junior 2: We had some great passages of play all the way down the court. Up against quite a tall and skilled team the girls pushed ll the end. They're slowly ge ng the hang of all the posi ons and giving 100% effort wherever they are played. Every week there's lots of improvement from each of the girls. Awesome job. Incen ve (Canteen) went to Kendall Ross for some amazing intercepts, constantly defending the ball and not giving up. Junior 1: Well it was a hard game where we came up against some much bigger opposi on. But you didn't give up and kept improving and trying your best each quarter. Our passes were a li le bit wild and woolly so it will give us something to focus on at training. Well done girls. Incen ve (Canteen): Tilly Shubert who gave 100% at each contest and played very well in each posi on. Chocolate award: Mackenzie Maczkowiack for her great defence work. 13 & Under: Robe 20 Glencoe 16. This was a very close game. At every quarter there was only a few goals in it. We had plenty of chances and some of the same basic skills of passing, leading, and crea ng space caused us a few problems but we were lucky enough to hold on to win. Our a acking game improved over the four quarters which helped us take the lead. Our defensive pressure was really good, earning Olivia Birchall best player (Robe Seafood & Takeaway) for her great intercepts and effort all game. Allira Maczkowiack got the incen ve (The Project) for such an improved game. She was able to lead in front and get her hand on many balls. Well done girls! 15 & Under: Robe 26 Glencoe 12. It was a great feeling to put our second win on the board. Our defensive pressure all the way down the court and our work rate associated with it is a credit to you all. Our a ack work was much be er, but we s ll need to work on our passes. Tilly Yeo won best player (Steve's Place) and is showing a consistent effort securing her spot in GD. A er trialling Jenna in WA, we moved her to WD. Jenna Turner gets incen ve (Robe Seafood & Takeaway) not only for her game but especially for always being an op on when the team got stuck. Well deserved. I look forward to the team playing with confidence against Kdoo. 17 & Under: Robe 41 Glencoe 37. Fantas c team game. We came away with a contested and well earned win! We started a li le slow and behind the mark, but we adjusted our game and upped it to Glencoe! Our defensive pressure was great and we all had our hands up which does that make a difference! The 3rd quarter or what is more famously known as the premiership quarter was our best quarter and we played it like it was our premiership! Coming from 4 down to be 10 up at 3/4 quarter me! Best player (Burger & Co) picked by opposi on went to Ella Mackey, who had a solid game in goals. Incen ve (The Project) went to Maddie Wirth, for super accuracy, great pressure and for talk in the a ack zone. B Reserve: Robe 20 Glencoe 53. Our game could be broken into 2 sec ons: First half and second half. First half: A bloody good team effort where we kept up with the opposi on being only 4 down at quarter me and only 7 at half me. Turnovers were cherished and the work rate was good. Proud moment.
Second half: A stuffed ankle by key defender Kiri took out our backline, followed closely by a suspected ankle break for Jess which totalled our bench. Jess I hope your recovery is smooth chick. The score at the end reflected a slide but all in all, I think we can hold our head high as we had a red hot go. Calcu a (The Project) went to Robyn Thomson who is having a ripper season and Incen ve (The Pastry Place) went to Kiri Mathews. B Grade: Robe 26 Glencoe 70. We came up against the side that was top of the ladder, we started strong and managed to keep within reach for the first half of the game. The defenders worked incredibly hard all game, with Sophie K and Phoebe being able to force some turnovers. We tried some different combina ons through the mid court, we need to be making solid leads, ge ng in front and making sure our passes are on point. We welcomed Ella from U/17 into our team to have a crack in goals for us, she did an amazing job, was incredibly accurate and put in a great 4 quarter effort. In the weeks to come we need to work on being more vocal on court. Calcu a (Coastal Club) went to Sophie Kokiousis and incen ve (The Union) went to Phoebe Baker who unfortunately went down with an ankle injury with 5 minutes to go, we hope you have a speedy recovery Pheebs! A Reserve: Robe 14 Glencoe 69. A tough day today coming up against a very skilled and well polished Glencoe team. First game we have had a full team with Belle and Keelin coming back from injuries. We never dropped our heads once throughout this game and con nued to fight ll the end. Despite this we have lots of work to do at training to get our basic skills up to scratch. Again passing, clu ering and playing behind let us down. Hopefully we will be able to find a more consistent posi on set over the coming weeks so we can start to work on our gelling as a team. Car a Borrelli claimed the Calcu a (Loaves & Fishes) with endless running and Amanda Culley the incen ve (Hairport) for never dropping her head, ge ng many touches and providing a lot of guidance to our young team! A Grade: Robe 32 Glencoe 42. A great team game saw us have a tussle against a compe ve Glencoe. Defensively we had a great game all over the court, ge ng our hands to lots of balls and backing each other up! It was great to see each player playing 'YOUR ROLE' for the game. Georgia once again played a ripper in GK, ge ng lots of touches and rebounds. Alannah had a great game also with lots of touches. Sammy made it tough for her WA pu ng the pressure on all game. Keryn showed us all she s ll has it, coming away with the incen ve (Hook & Harvest), with some great leading in the a ack line on a tough opponent. Asha once again had a great game at WA, with great movement and feeding into the goalies. Tori also had a ripper on a tough opponent, shoo ng accurately under pressure and coming away with the Calcu a (The Cally). With Sarah out for the week Kimberley slo ed into GS, shot a few goals and supported Tori. Great team game girls, even though we didn't get there with the win, it was great to see us working on our dynamics!

NETball club notes Big congratula ons to Chelsea Owen and Zoe Mulraney on making the Country Champs teams in 17&U and 15&U respec vely. We know these two girls will represent Glencoe well and hope they have a great me, make new friends and learn some new things along the way. Junior 2: Fantas c game girls. Everyone did a great job on defending their player throughout the whole game. Metalworx Award went to Jazz Haase for listening to everything that was said and second best to Charlo e Bignell for amazing leads and defence. Junior 1: Amazing effort again girls, started off a bit flat, but you all worked hard and improved each quarter! You girls are truly incredible, have great sportsmanship and you all play so well in whatever posi on I put you in and I wish I didn't have to try and choose only 1 best each week! Best player (Eddie Kuhl Tyres Award) went to Chloe Childs for some great shoo ng and encouragement went to Kloe Phillips. 13 & Under: 16-20. Wow what a figh ng game right to the end. The girls played a really great game for all 4 quarters and as their coach I was so proud of the game they played. Ruby played with fantas c defence and hand pressure making many turnovers in the circle. Mid court brought the ball down to our goalies who moved well in the circle and shot with confidence. Shae played a great game through the middle with feeding into the girls and also great pressure to make many turnovers. Together as a team they li ed each quarter and worked on the things we needed to improve on. Super proud of all the girls and the strong commitment to the ball and fantas c team support to one another. Keep smiling and be proud of the game you played. Dycer Construc on Award went to Ruby and second best to Sienna. 15 & Under: 26-12. Great effort girls. You all came with posi ve a tudes. First quarter the pressure applied by all players on the court was great. Making it hard for drives down the court. Montana Biggins moved well and constantly offering down the court and in the ring. Zoe Johnston was out for every centre pass and really good drives down the court and talking to each player. Defence applied great pressure with many rebounds and hands over every goal shot, but there were many wayward passes and no one chasing loose balls, which Robe took the opportunity to chase and score from. Each week you girls are all improving and working together in many different playing groups and adap ng well into posi ons you don’t o en play. Well done girls, keep up the good work. Maloney Plumbing Award went to Zoe Johnston and second best to Montanna Biggins. 17 & Under: 37-41. Bad luck girls. We started the game really strong, making lots of op ons to the ball and with some of our best movement in the goal circle. We had some excellent
NETball club notes passages into our a acking end with lots of front cuts. We s ll need to work on keeping our intensity for the en re game and backing each other up with loose balls. Best player (DeGaris Lawyers Award) went to Lilly who had her best game of the season and shot very well. Mikayla was second best for some excellent drives down the court. Let's come out nice and strong today. B Reserve: 53-20. In colder and windy condi ons we worked really hard, especially in the second half to pull away with a good win. We s ll need to put in the hard yards this week at training but happy with the way we are heading. Best player (Key 2 Sale Award) went to Lauren who created many op ons in the goal ring. Second went to Kate the ever consistent for voice, pressure and touches. Well done girls. B Grade: 70-26. A vast improvement on our previous game. Again, pu ng what we discuss at trainings into our game made a difference. Kayla was solid in goals all day and Zoe had her best game yet with some great leads and beau ful feeding into the ring. Chloe was at it again causing issues through the middle. Hayley came on at half me and made an impact offensively and defensively. The defensive trio of Sam, Sally and Amy started strong in the first half making the most of rebounds and plenty of intercepts and touches. At half me we switched up posi ons in defence and you adapted and kept Robe to only 5 goals for the quarter. At 3/4 me I asked you all to li and really put in for the last quarter and you did exactly that, keeping Robe to just 2 goals which is a credit to the defence. We had our highest scoring quarter for the game with 21 - a great game all round. This is the kind of netball we need to con nue to play with our hardest match coming up. Best - Kayla Medhurst (Planta on Treated Timber Award) and Zoe Parham-Hawke. A Reserve: 69-14. Great four quarters by all teammates. Our full court defensive pressure was amazing and we were able to convert them on the board. It was great to see everyone coming forward and mee ng the ball hard all game. Well done to Jessie for stepping back into the defence circle and doing a great job as well, even with your second falcon for the season. B&P Travel and Cruise Award went to April VonDuve and second best to Alyce Finnis. A Grade: 42-32. With another new lineup in goals and defence I think everyone did a great job adap ng to the changes. Everyone applied ght defensive pressure all the way down the court and it paid off with mul ple held balls. Emily and Laura did a great job in goals, especially for their first me ever playing together, and they were well supported by Donna and Ash with some accurate and pa ent feeding. O'Brien Electrical Award went to Laura Edwards and second best to Ash Edwards.
Junior 2: Another great game girls. You are using what we are learning at training and taking it into the game. We are star ng to share the ball around and look a er our passes and wai ng for our team mates to come in front. We are using our team mates on the goal circle to get into a be er posi on to shoot. Loved Zayley's four bounce passes and confidence when shoo ng to get her goal of three goals in a quarter. Keep up the great work! Congratula ons to Zayley who won the “Junior Player of the Day” sponsored by The Athletes Foot. Awards: Zoe Kaboom Entertainment, Meeka Baker's Delight. Happy birthday Lily! Junior 1: Awards: Paige Kaboom Entertainment, Lacy Hungry Jacks. 13 & Under: We con nue to improve each week girls. We are bringing the ball out of defence and down the court really well but need to remember to lead in front. Keep encouraging and get behind each other and work as a team. Awards: Grace - Hungry Jacks, Greta - Baker's Delight. 15 & Under: Another win. What a great and close game of netball to watch, the second half of the game was much be er with passing and much ghter defence. Well played girls - keep it up! Awards: Hungry Jacks Alisha, McKinnons - Evie. 17 & Under: Such a great game to watch! The girls fought hard the en re match and it showed with the amount of contests on the court. Skye and Kate worked extremely well in the circle with Skye working a strong hold and Kate worked the outside of the circle crea ng good movement. Marnee and Phoebe worked well together in the mid court to create strong drives and good circle feeds. Taylah, Issy and Milla worked over me in defence crea ng turnovers and causing errors from their defensive pressure. Unfortunately some passes let us down a bit, which led to a loss but the girls con nued to fight hard and keep their heads high. Big thanks to Jazzy for running centre for us in the last quarter. Congratula ons to Kate Wright and Marnee Formosa on playing
50 games! Awards: Kate Wright Boost, Skye Sander - Fasta Pasta. B Reserve: What a win, a really fantas c game. You all played steady and with so much confidence and your want for the ball and aggression won the game. Thank you so much to our fill-ins Kate Wright, Marnee Formosa and Phoebe Beare. Fantas c shoo ng from Syke and your posi ng was fantas c. Awards: Kate Wright - Vanity, Marnee Formosa - Vanity. B Grade: What a well fought out game girls. With our new player Abby gracing the court she worked well with Mahli to get those goals in and close the gap. Amazing work in the mid court with turnovers to help. The defence had to work hard to stop the balls into the Robe shooters but it was enough to come away with a draw. Awards: Abby - Athletes Foot, Alisha Boost Juice. A Reserve: We wanted to come out strong and started the first quarter our way. With a new midcourt start up we moved the ball with purpose and were pa ence with one another. Great court pressure and handy touches and ps were well capitalised on. A hard third quarter grind saw us come out from the 3/4 quarter me finishing the game strong. Awards: Bri - She's Apples, Georgia - F45. A Grade: A much be er start to the game. Again we had some great passages of plays, making great improvement every week and always running out the last half the strongest by having such a fit team. Some big changes this week with a new shoo ng duo in Ella and Emalee, giving us the height and body needed. Georgia making a re-appearance a er being off injured from the first game, showing we miss her presence. Sarah once again having a huge senior experience presence. Best players and awards to Sam - Lima and Co and Emily - Boost Juice. Other items (milestones, social func ons etc): The sun was shining for our Sponsors Day at Kongorong last home game! We thank all our sponsors for their con nuing support this season.
port macdonnell NETball club notes Junior 1: Ivy Wilson (Bakers Delight) and Kasey McLean (Bakers Delight). Another great game girls - very proud. We are really star ng to come together as a team, we made a goal and we stuck to it and we hit it, we made it to the end. It's great to see that we are looking to throw to everyone in the team so everyone is a part on the day. Great work from the defence right down to the a acks, we just need to remember that we can pivot our feet to throw the ball and to shoot. Unfortunately, we didn't have a full team with two being out but I just would like to say a massive thank you to Lilly from Jnr 2 for si ng our bench the last two weeks - it's been really good, thank you. Junior 2: Great game again girls. We are star ng to get the hang of bringing the ball down court. Best players were Molly who tried really hard all game and Emily who did the same. Keep up the good work girls 13 & Under: Awards - Bella McLean (Boost Juice) and Layla McPherson (Bakers Delight). What a great effort from everyone - we are super proud. Our defence pressure from GS to GK was great. We s ll got some work to do on our lanes and passing. Awards went to Bella for her awesome work playing GS, you shot very well and had some great passes. Layla, for pu ng in 110% throughout the whole game. Overall a great effort from everyone, let's keep up the hard work. 15 & Under: Bridie (Maccas), Sophie Lewis (Donut King). We had a slow start to the game but finished strong. Well done girls on playing the best last quarter we have played all season. 17 & Under: Well done to Imogen and Stevie on best players. You all are improving each and every week. We are s ll searching for those solid 4 quarters, but we will get there. Good job girls. B Reserve: Awards - best players Cristan Smith (Fasta Pasta) and Briodie Wilson. Excellent game girls, we all gelled together and it showed. Everything we have been prac cing come into play and it was a great game to be a part of. We had great pressure all over the court and made the most of our turnovers, great rebounding by Fee and Ashton and Lyndall drove well to bring the ball out of defence with Cristan and Maddy finishing it off well, amazing shoo ng girls. Welcome back Brides, having your presence on court makes a huge difference. B Grade: A strong solid start to the

first quarter. The talk and the direc on was excellent, this helped us se le quickly and fine a good rhythm. Kristy and Natasha worked well together and turned over many balls which we as a team capitalised on and scored. We adjusted well to changes at the end of the 2nd quarter, due to an injury. Abbi created nice drive through the middle of the court and combined well with De, Candice and Kelly in a ack. Jen and Mackenzie ghtened defence in the third quarter allowing the defence to pick off some wellearned intercep ons. It was good to maintain intensity throughout the third and fourth quarter and forge ahead. Kelly and Candice worked relessly together in the goal circle. The team work was evident as everyone did their own job and we followed our process to come out on top. Keep up the good work girls. Thank you to our support team that helped out on the sidelines. Jenni got the Chemist King Award and Candice got the Body Shop Award for their efforts. A Reserve: Slow start to the game but when we all found our rhythm the game started to flow... we are finally star ng to play together as a team which is paying off on court. Cody Manning smashing GS in the last quarter shoo ng 22 goals. Best Cody Manning and Holly Smith. A Grade: Awards - Brooke Williams (F45) and Jess Trench (F45). We finally got our first win on the board and we absolutely deserve it. With so many changes along the way, our 7 combina ons we had just worked. Our defence all over the court was great. Well done to all 7 players who all deserved best player. Brooke Williams shot amazingly, best player Brooke - well done. Junior 2: The J2s got off to a cracking start with Hazel firing goals in for Hatherleigh, receiving great assists from Myla in goal shooter. With lots of younger girls playing together for the first me, the team were using their voices and coopera on to ease them into the game. Mollie was strong in defence, always keeping in front of her player. Kaia was determined to pull in the rebounds and chase up any lose balls around the court. Harper and Ella were leading to the ball and moving into clear spaces around the court. Maggie ran well in the centre and passed directly to her teammates. Kirby got her hands to lots of high balls and made her opponent work hard for every possession. Well done girls, it was a close game! We played our best netball when we got in front and made quick decisions. As we keep working on this, we will improve each week! Junior 1: Another great game from our li le Eagles. Your hard work at training is paying off and you are all star ng to blend well as a team. Alirah was quick to adjust to the wet condi ons and herself and Livvi did lots of dodging to create space in a ght Kalangadoo defence. Luca and Sienna again combined beau fully in defence causing numerous turnovers through their a ack line. Paige, Scarle , Grace and Olivia all had a great want for the ball, chasing up any loopy passes and really pu ng pressure on forcing errors in the other team. Keep up the great work girls and let's work on moving forward and in front in our a ack line. Thank you to Jess for ming and Mel for primary caring. Awards: Sienna Clark (Toy Kingdom), Paige Walters (Ladies Commi ee). 13 & Under: A er a compe ve start to the game Kalangadoo got on top in the second quarter and went on to win convincingly. Final score 27-52. To the girls’ credit they tried hard over the 4 quarters but skill errors meant we turned the ball over too o en. Kalli worked relessly for the en re game while Leni chased down loose balls and Sylvie con nues to improve. Kalli Gino's Pizza award, Alex - ladies Commi ee award. 15 & Under: Well this was definitely not our best game! When playing against tough opponents we need to remember to play our game and never give up, 4 quarters of netball gets you a win! Let's work really hard at training as we have lots of things we can work on. Awards - Gino's pizza, Bella - HLC, Indi. 17 & Under: Great win girls! We had some great plays and numerous turnovers. The score remained extremely close for majority of the game, with the Kalangadoo girls pu ng up a massive fight. Unfortunately we had our Rosie Ne le go down with a knee injury, which made us adjust the way we play, with Indi Howell taking the court and really making a strong appearance in defence circle. The last quarter was our strongest, with strong movement the whole way down the court. Our goalies really stepped up, shoo ng incredibly accurate and moving excep onally well together. Best players Lacey Haines (Ducky's) and
Dakota Hateley (Ladies Commi ee). B Reserve: Tough and disappoin ng game girls. We went out absolutely firing, scoring the first 4 goals and being 8 goals to 3 early in the first quarter. Unfortunately, to their credit Kalangadoo managed to get ght defensive pressure over our a ack line and presented a strong combined front and we needed to adjust our game which is something, as me goes on, will come as being a team. The mid-court worked relessly throughout the day driving the ball well through the centre court and applying pressure me and me again but just wasn't enough. A game like that definitely gives a lot to work on and we need to remember to look a er every centre pass, keep our heads up and make sure we con nue to encourage and li each other up as a team. Let’s look forward to what we can work on as both individuals and making different combina ons work. Keep your heads up, keep suppor ng and let’s put pressure on Pt Mac. Looking forward to Amy and Linda being back this week and big happy birthday to coach Linda for last Friday. Thank you to Kerry for coaching, Tamara for scoring and Billie for ming. Awards: Hannah Seamer, Somerset Hotel (absolute boomer taking her player out of the game), Staci Faulkner, HSR (talking, balance of the court and con nued to fight and want the ball), Michelle Pulmer Beachport (adjus ng well into GA). B Grade: We came up against a well drilled, tall and fit Kalangadoo side. We had some great patches of play but they were limited patches. Our defensive pressure down the court lacked and trying to play behind a tall opposi on is not going to get us the win. Let’s re-group and work hard this week to take on Pt Mac. Thank you Sally for si ng bench for us in the cold win. Somerset Hotel awards: Lacey Brown and Meg Gray, HSR award: Ellie Cook. A Reserve: We knew heading into the game it was going to tough. This didn't stop us from working as a team and giving it our best. The centre court combina on of Lucy Corman, Melissa and Helen had to run hard to keep up with the pace of the opposi on. Demi off to a strong start in goals with Abby con nuing this in the second half. Down on the other end of the court Lucy Chant was playing strong with great defensive pressure. Awards Since Fi y-Six: Melissa McGrath, Somerset award: Marni Smith and Abby Wight, Kelsey Wight Fitness: Lucy Corman. A Grade: Not a bad game and gave us a good indica on of where we are and what needs work. The Magpie changes at half- me seemed to ra le us and we took far too long to adjust. Once again a great defensive effort by everyone, s ll need to iron out a few a acking kinks. Awards - Kelsey Wight Fitness: Maddie P, Somerset Hotel: Maddie R, HSR: Sarah B, Since-Fi ySix: Lara. Wishing Rosie a speedy recovery and thank you to Helen and Lucy C for si ng bench.

NETball club notes The Mount Burr Netball Club is proud to have Igni on Fitness and KimberlyClarke Australia (KCA) as major sponsors for the 2021 season. Junior 2: A er a week off the girls were pumped ready to go. What a great game to watch, some great intercepts from everyone. Well done to all for posi oning well in the goal circle and scoring some goals. Your great listening skills are paying off. You all are improving each week and ge ng to know every posi on on court. Great voices out there last week. Keep up the hard work. Training this week we will work on coming front in the goal circle. Awards: McDonald's Voucher went to Sydnee and Fasta Pasta award to Isabelle. Junior 1: The girls all did a great job across the whole court, especially our a ack line. The whole team showed skills that we have been working on over the past few trainings and all gave feedback to each other throughout the game on and off the court. We s ll have a few things to work on like coming front to the ball and talking on court. The best players went to Pagian (Toy Kingdom) and Sabina (Fasta Pasta) who both showed some great leadership over the court and showing what we have put into prac ce. Great game girls. 13 & Under: Well done girls, but also well done to Tantanoola for pu ng together a very young side, and playing each week. We made lots of changes and it was great to see everyone playing well in different and new posi ons, all over the court. It was great to hear some voices throughout the game, wan ng the ball and praising each other. Thanks to Shannon for scoring and Laura for umpiring. Awards went to Kaylei (Fasta Pasta) and Kali (Toy Kingdom). 15 & Under: Very slow start to the game with players lacking energy and enthusiasm. We need to warm up with focus and as a team so we can hit the court running. Once we warmed up, we played a strong game, using our voices and playing with more intensity which was great to see. We all learnt something from this game. Best players went to Imogen (Mad Penguin) and Lily (Bakers Delight). 17 & Under: A slow start and one where we struggled to gain momentum from the first whistle. This game certainly highlighted the need for us to all work together and to communicate on court as without this we lack direc on and individually struggle to remain in the game. Our defensive pressure as a team built across the game, par cularly in the second half which saw us take a number of mely intercepts, preven ng them from transi oning the ball into their goal circle. However, we o en struggled to convert these on the scoreboard due to our own unforced errors. Although not our best game it is en rely in our control to work on reducing our own errors and playing consistently across the en re game. Thanks to Lisa for umpiring, Kelly for scoring, and Heidi
NETball club notes for being the primary carer. Fasta Pasta award went to McKenzie Bevan who took numerous strong intercepts and Millicent Florist award went to Amelia Ballantyne who ran hard through the middle and got her hands to a number of balls. B Reserve: Bad luck girls, so close. We were down at every quarter and coming into the last quarter to be 5 goals down and only lose by 1 which was a great effort. Our defence all over the court got be er throughout the game and especially the last quarter where we created many turnovers. Our a acks are working well together in Karen, Amy and Tess, making space for each other with great passing. In defence, Bec, Brianna and Jazmine made Tantanoola's goalies work hard for every possession and took some strong rebounds. Mia and Hannah drove hard through the middle with strong leads bringing the ball out of defence. Overall a good job, we are working hard at training and I can see the improvement each week. Thanks once again to Sally for scoring and Ann for umpiring. Awards went to Amy (Enchanted Beauty by Brianna) and Mia (Café Melzar). B Grade: We played a lot be er style of netball against a strong opposi on. We need to con nue to use what we are prac cing at training and implement this in games. It was great to see a couple of plays where we moved the ball fluently from defence into our goalies. We will con nue to work on our ming. Awards went to Maddie Wilkinson (Enchanted Beauty) for her consistent hard work under the ring and Sally Mueller (Sassi) for ge ng on the court and using what she's been taught. Tant 54 Mt Burr 28. A Reserve: Congratula ons girls on our first long-awaited win. Everyone played an important part in ensuring we came away with it. Ava was confident and dominant within the goal circle winning herself the Beachport Hotel award. While Layla's strength and defensive pressure all over the court caused many intercep ons and turnovers winning her the Enchanted Beauty award. Faith, Heidi and Stacey's defensive pressure was outstanding. Claudia's strong presence on centre passes became influen al to take home the win. Well done girls, keep implemen ng our work at trainings into our games and we should see some more wins start to pop up on the board. A Grade: Our slow start to the game was reflected across all 4 quarters but luckily it wasn't fully reflected on the scoreboard un l the second half. We struggled to meet the ball and as a result, it highlighted that Tant's desire for the ball was far more than ours. The ever-reliable Heidi Clark played hard all game and Laura Schultz drove well through the centre, giving the a ack plenty of op ons. Thanks to Lisa for umpiring and Heidi for scoring. Awards went to Heidi Clark (Café Melzar) and Laura Schultz (Fasta Pasta).
Couple of close games last week, although we only came out with one win, we were very compe ve in most grades. It’s good to see that we are improving each week and the wins will come if we keep up the hard work. Our Mothers Day raffle was a huge success raising over $800. Well done to all for selling those ckets and money will go towards some more renova ons in the netball club. Raffle winners: 1st - Sam Ebel, 2nd - Marcus Thomson. We’d also like to congratulate Angela Pra on her 150 senior game milestone. Ange has been a vital part of our senior team for years, only having some me off for injury, work, and a baby. She also has been involved with the commi ee for years. Well done, Ange. Lastly, we like to thank some more silver sponsors - Richards Crash Repairs and GT Industrial Sales. Let’s see us get some wins on the board this week against Mt Burr. Junior 2: What a great game girls, we are improving every week. You all are doing so well. Last week we all spread out more and led to the ball a lot be er which was great to see. We are star ng to get more confident, and everyone is really chasing the ball. Keep going li le ones, it’s awesome to see all your improvement. Fasta Pasta Asha, McDonalds - Madalyn. Junior 1: Good game girls, was good to hear you use your voices on court. Big thank you to Asha and Keelie who helped fill in, greatly appreciated. Well done on using your shoulder passes, makes a huge difference. Well done to Ella who got our best player earning the canteen award. Great defence all down the court and good drive in C. 13 & Under: Great team fight back, the importance of never giving up. Well done all eight players. Our last quarter saw us outscore Pt Mac by five goals to gain the win. Gemma played a brilliant game at WA. Madison again held well as she was the focus in the ring and shot 17 of our goals. Kaylee rebounded well and Holly created many intercep ons along with CJ. Skye applied excellent defensive pressure in the centre and when went into goals only missed two shots ge ng 15 for the game. Well done to all. Parents and coach very proud of all of you. In the last two minutes we did not fault under the pressure, it was the opposite. I think we li ed the intensity and stepped up when needed. A great sign for things to come. Con nue to improve your game and play as a team. The Athletes Foot award went to Kiara for pushing through although could see was exhausted. Kiara worked very hard at GA and C. McDonald's award went to Analeigh for her defensive pressure, her concentra on and listening. Great effort Analeigh. 15 & Under: We were so close to ge ng our first win of the season! Everyone played their hardest on the court and it is amazing to see how far we have come as a team in such a short amount of me. It was a very close and even game throughout the whole me and everyone managed to get some personal wins on court. I am so incredibly proud of how you girls
played, I hope we can keep it up and keeping working on being our best. Congratula ons to Scarlet Black and Emily Timms on ge ng our best players even though everyone deserved one. 17 & Under: Even though the score didn't say it, but we had some great passages of play. We need to remember to come forward more and use our voices on the court more. Thanks to our helpers once again because we would be lost without you pu ng your hand up every week. Best player award went to Skye Fox Nangwarry Serv-wel. B Reserve: Whilst we did not come away with the win girls there was lots of posi ves in last week’s game. A big well done to Maxi for stepping up and giving goals ago, you did a great job and moved well in GA. Davina and Jayne both worked really well throughout the centre court. Maddy your efforts in the goal ring is not going unno ced, you worked hard covering all avenues. Best players Maxi and Maddy. B Grade: A much more se led game girls with less posi onal changes, it allowed us to gel a li le more and learn how our teammates play. We started well with a 4-goal lead, but that was the only me we led all game. We need to implement the things we are learning at training so we can be er our own game. Short passes are how we need to play girls, especially while we are all s ll learning how to play together. Thank you to Skye who stepped up from 17's and held her own listening to direc on and being a strong contributor to some of the great passages of play we had. We must u lise Meighan to the best of her ability and I showed how to do that, if you just throw the ball into space, she will do the rest. Jemma once again had a great game and was well supported by Ellie in WD who applied pressure on the ring all game. Well done girls, fingers crossed for a win this week. Best players Tamara the Jens award and Meighan! A Reserve: Such a good start to the game and we then do a couple of bad things and drop our heads, don't be too hard on yourselves, you're doing some amazing things as well. When we are pa ent and give first op on down court it works very well. Goalies moved well and had some good space making it easy to feed. Let’s try and be posi ve and encourage each other it will make it easier for all. Athletes Foot award went to Tahlia - great job. A Grade: We started off a bit slow which is unusual for us with few minor errors. But we recovered quickly with some great a acking and pa ence down court. We worked over me and had so many great transi ons down court. A ack line improved as the day went on and was good to see some of the things, we work on at training coming to play. Defence worked hard all game ge ng some good hands. Well done everyone, was a great game, so great to see us improving every week. Let’s keep it up.
ROUND 6 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW HATHERLEIGH v KALANGADOO Hatherleigh were without Keston Green and Kalangadoo without Abbey Duncan, the game started with both sides not giving an inch with Hatherleigh scoring the first goal and capitalised on any missed shots by Kalangadoo. Youngsters Lacey Haines and Kori Collins both took a while to se le, but we're supported well by senior players Melissa Russell and Maddie Pulmer. Strong defensive work by both sides caused many turnovers in the mid court which seen the home side take the lead going into the first break 3 up. Hatherleigh came out firing in the second and went to a 6 goal lead at one point, but Kalangadoo pulled it back. Great defence by Maddie Redman and Sarah Broadhead for Hatherleigh and Chelsea Croser and Mikaela Pi ensured all 4 goalies worked hard for every shot. Hatherleigh 21 Kalangadoo 15 was the score going into the main break. Kalangadoo moved Chloe Pra to GK and Chelsea Croser to WD whilst Hatherleigh remained unchanged. Kalangadoo’s defence was combining well, crea ng plenty of turnovers to help their side. Russell had a huge 3rd quarter which helped her side take a 3 goal lead at 3/4 me. Going into the last quarter Ebony McDiarmid replaced Russell at GS and Helen Hamilton took the court at WD with Lara McGregor taking the C bib and Sarah Faulkner si ng out. Hatherleigh pulled back early to get within 1, and con nued to push but Kalangadoo pulled away to finish strongly and take out the win by 4. Best players for Hatherleigh were Maddie Pulmer and Lara MacGregor and Kalangadoo were Melissa Russell, Mikaela Pi . ROBE v GLENCOE The first quarter saw both teams come out firing, with most of the quarter being goal for goal, with some great defensive pressure from both defensive ends. Georgia Perkins and Emily Thompson were having a great tussle in Glencoe's goal ring, with Perkins ge ng her hands to lots of loose balls. The second quarter was also quite ght, with Robe working the ball into the goal ring be er. Robe's Tori Gluyas shoo ng accurately and making it tough for Glencoe's Sarah Edwards. The score being 18 all at half me. Glencoe put the pressure on in the third quarter, with some accurate shoo ng from Thompson, shoo ng 9 out of their 11 goals. Robe were s ll ge ng the turnovers, but struggled to capitalise on them. The score being 22 to 29 at the break.
With both teams making no changes for the game, we saw some great passages of play from both teams as they se led into their posi ons, however Glencoe were too strong and came away with the win by 10 goals. Best players for Robe were Tori Gluyas and Keryn Moore and Glencoe were Laura Edwards and Ashlea Edwards. NANGWARRY v PORT MACDONNELL Pt Mac scored the first 3 goals before Nangwarry got on the board, with Nangwarry making some minor errors in the a ack line. Once they se led it was goal for goal with Hayley Burner running hard for Nangwarry and feeding her goalies Angela Pra and Cassie Dinnison accurately. While at the Pt Mac end Brooke Williams was working over me being a focal point for her team and finishing off with high accuracy and only missing one from 12 for the quarter. Scores at the first break were Nangwarry 11 to Pt Mac 14. Both teams kept up the intensity with Kirby Carrison coming into the game this quarter working well with Williams and both finishing well. Carly Ploenges and Hayley Vanderhorst were having to work hard to get any balls against them. Michelle Moore and Burner were having a good tussle through the middle and s ll running well for their teams. Ebony Lawson was using her pace against a tough Jess Trench trying to work hard onto the ring and being pa ent with her feeding. But Trench though, made her job hard making her earn every ball and ge ng hands to numerous ones. Morgan Amy and Lisa McGregor put pressure on Nangwarry’s goalies, rebounding well and ge ng some vital touches. Main break saw Nangwarry 20 to Pt Mac 31. Both teams con nued with no changes. Williams con nued her great form this quarter. Cody Manning and Jemma Parsons having a good tussle against each other both working hard for their teams. Burner picked up defensively, turning over many balls for her team and transi oned well down the court. Pra and Dinnison s ll posi oning well with Dinnison feeding Pra under the post. Trench con nued to get hand to ball, but Lawson kept driving hard. Vandehorst li ed this quarter keeping Carrison to 5 ge ng some hands along with Ploenges never giving up. Even quarter with scores Nangwarry 35 to Pt Mac 46. Last quarter saw Pt Mac just li that li le bit more than Nangwarry. Amy and McGregor working hard on Nangwarry goalies and s ll rebounding well any missed shots. Ploenges con nued her work rate and took many intercepts this quarter and kept Williams to a lot less
goals this quarter. Both teams worked hard in every posi on bringing the ball down the court well for their teams, unfortunately just small errors let Nangwarry down, but it was a good game from both teams. Final scores Nangwarry 44 Pt Mac 59. Nangwarry’s best players were Burner and Ploenges, and for Pt Mac, Williams and Trench. TANTANOOLA v MOUNT BURR Mount Burr started the match with the first centre pass resul ng in the first goal of the game. Both sides played with intensity and it went goal for goal for most of the quarter with both goal shooters from each side shoo ng at 100%. Mount Burr went into the first break one goal up 11-12. In the second term both sides came out unchanged but the defensive pressure by Mount Burr's Heidi Clark (GD) and Madi Hagge (GK) caused havoc for the Tiger's a ack line. The pressure in the goal circle made it difficult for Tant's Vic Lucas (C) and Casey Walker (WA) to feed into the goalies. It seemed to be a defender's day out as the Tiger's Kate Bromley (GD) and Tayla Rowe (GK) were also causing trouble for Ebony Clark (GS) and Sarah Nulty (GA) with pressure over the ball resul ng in some crucial turnovers for the Tigers. Mount Burr's Laura Schultz (C) had a steadying presence on the court and they were able to hold on to their one goal lead going into the half me break 21-22. In the third quarter it was Mount Burr who made changes with Maddi Hagge coming out to GD and Heidi Clark going back into GK and the Tigers were unchanged. Bromley and Rowe con nued to play strongly and their intensity grew causing mul ple turnovers that the Tigers were able to convert from. Bromley's defensive pressure in the third term kept Nulty out of the game and down the other end Emma Gould (GS) had her eye in and capitalised off the turnovers that her team was crea ng shoo ng 12 for the quarter. The Tiger's took control of the game going into the final break with a six-goal lead 3630. In the fourth quarter Mount Burr reverted their defensive circle combina on and came out strong and their pressure across the whole court stepped up. The Tiger's took nearly half the quarter to adapt to Mount Burr's pressure allowing them to narrow the margin. However, the Tiger's defence kept them in the game also, where their a ack line came alive in the last seven minutes of the game. Vic Lucas and Casey Walker played smart and looked a er every possession and was able to deliver the ball to Gould and Jami Walker (GA) who shot with accuracy under pressure. It was the home side who took the points with a seven-goal win 51-44.
