This week Mount Burr's dreadlocked defender Tyler Stanley will play his 150th senior game (121A/28B) for the club. Having joined Mount Burr in 2008, Tyler began his senior career in 2010 when s ll in Senior Colts and while taking his me to find his feet he eventually found a home in the backline alongside several other youngsters. His a acking play was a feature during the team’s hat-trick of flags in 2015-16-17 and he was named as his side's best player in the 2016 decider. Con nuing to improve as hair steadily lengthened, he was runner-up in the 2017 A Grade Best & Fairest before being chosen in the MSE interleague team in 2018 and named in the 2019 MSE Team Of The Year. Congratula ons Tyler.
The Mid South Eastern Football League has named an ini al training squad for the upcoming South East Zone Carnival against the Western Border Football Leagues on Saturday June 12th, to be hosted by the Millicent Football Club. The zone carnival will have a slightly different look to it a er the Kowree Naracoorte Ta ara Football League chose not to compete at senior level this year. This year's carnival will s ll be the ideal opportunity for Murray South East Zone selectors to view the very best talent our region has to offer. The squad, led by experienced interleague representa ve Ben McGregor will be trimmed down following the group's training session beginning next Wednesday 2nd June at Tantanoola. McGregor has been extremely pleased with the response
received from both senior coaches and players keen to put their hands up to represent the MSEFL. Each week he will be in regular contact with his selectors and coaches, discussing teams and be er players in the lead up to ensure the MSEFL are pu ng in form players with the desire and commitment on the park. junior interleague With our interleague fixture just around the corner, the Mid South Eastern Junior Football League welcomes Infigen Energy – Lake Bonney Community Fund as their major junior interleague sponsor for this year. Funding will be used to supply our teams with apparel which is the main cost component to the League. The interleague carnival will look slightly different this year as the KNTFL have chosen not to par cipate at senior level, so the decision was made to play all interleague matches, both senior and junior on the one day, which required one less team so only 15 & Under and 17 & Under sides will compete this year. We have been extremely fortunate to appoint two outstanding coaches for our interleague sides this year in Andrew Nitschke - 15's and Reece Duncan - 17's. Interleague trainings are well underway and both coaches have been impressed with the level of skill and commitment shown by all players. Final teams will be announced on Wednesday 9th June at Mt Burr. Both sides will compete against WBFL and KNTFL representa ve sides on Saturday 12th June at Millicent. In what will be an outstanding display of talent, the day will culminate in a full four quarter match between MSEFL and WBFL senior sides.
lindner plays 200th senior game for tant Last Saturday against Mount Burr Adam Lindner, or ‘Pa o’ as he is be er known, chalked up his 200th senior game for the Tantanoola Football Club. Adam was recruited to the club way back in 2003 from the Millicent Football Club as a silky smooth onballer and was runner-up in the A Grade Best and Fairest in 2005. In 2006 Pa o played in the drought breaking A Grade premiership under coach Adam Walden. In 2007 he was named Most Consistent playing the majority of the year on the ball with his ability to win the ball and dish it out to his teammates a feature of his game. 2015 and 2016 saw Pa o coaching

the Senior Colts taking home the 2015 premiership in a nail biter against Mount Burr with fellow coach Sco Bowering. In 2016 he was also Vice President of the football club in a year he played in the successful B Grade premiership side. He has been an ac ve member on the commi ee in previous years for a number of seasons pu ng in the hard work behind the scenes. Supported by his wife Morgen and children Keelie, Ashton and Ryder, it was great to see the boys get a win in his 200th and the Tantanoola Football Club would like to congratulate Adam on his milestone and hope there are s ll a few more in the old body to come.

FOR ALL YOUR BBQ & PARTY MEAT!
VIEW FROM THE HILL Only one team remains undefeated coming into the la er stage of the first round and it is really no surprise to see Kalangadoo at the top of the tree. This team is well drilled, well coached and the familiarity they have with one another's strengths and weaknesses puts them ahead of the pack. The challenge now for everyone else in the compe on is to find a way to crack this very hard nut! Robe travelled to Kalangadoo to try and do just that and in a very close and even contest fell short by 20pts. There may have been some skulduggery in play as it seemed the Kalangadoo oval was omi ed from the mowing schedule last week, maybe this was inten onal to slow their opposi on down, with Kalangadoo star ng well having their noses in front by 11pt at the first break. Both sides had plenty of the ball however, it was Kalangadoo's defence that withstood Robe's forward entries. Robes in form centre half forward Zac Deane was well held all day, being restricted to just 2 goals so they had to find other avenues to goal. Glenelg prodigy Angus Weir was a late inclusion and he led the goal kickers along with Jack Sneath with 3 each. Once again Kalangadoo's Michael Krieger proved what an asset he is around the goals and along with the evergreen Ben Mules both contributed 3 goals each to the scoreboard. Ben Gregory was the home sides only other mul ple goal kicker with 2. No surprises to see defenders Jason Bannister and Nathan Reeves given the nod as 1st and 2nd best respec vely. Other players to feature for the winners were Sam Casey, Andrew Stone, Tye McManus and Ben Mules. For the visitors Tom Wachtel was again Robe's best, followed by Kane Dunn, James Francisco, Jordan Pe t, Brodie Foulds and Jack Sneath. Down at the Bay another top four clash loomed with Hatherleigh making the trek to the seaside. The visitors were met with fantas c condi ons and an oval in excellent shape. Port MacDonnell got off to a good start kicking with the aid of a 2-3 goal breeze and put that all important scoreboard pressure on early registering 5-4 to 0-5 by ¼ me. Hatherleigh had their fair share of the play early but couldn't convert, whereas it seemed every forward entry for Port MacDonnell resulted in a score. Hatherleigh reduced the margin slightly heading into the long break but was s ll needing to play catch up footy. The third quarter saw Hatherleigh get their running game going and with Port MacDonnell very inaccurate in front of goal there was only a goal in it at ¾ me. In another rela vely even quarter, the Bay boys were able to find the big s cks when it counted running out 19pt winners. Port MacDonnell's forwards were the difference at the end of the day, they were able to convert their scoring opportuni es when it ma ered and the delivery to them also was a treat to watch. For the home side Kev Thomson finished the day with 5 and Hamish Stevens with 2. While for Hatherleigh Joe Ferguson-Lane kicked 3 and Louis Brown their only other
mul ple goal scorer with 2. Be er players for Port MacDonnell were dominated by their tall brigade in Daron McElroy, Dylan Bromley, Kev Thomson, Rohan Povey, Tim Sullivan, and Wade Chant. For Hatherleigh youngster Will Chay got the nod for BOG with Sam Waring, Ferguson-Lane, Jed Telfer, Jordy Galpin and another youngster Cam Atkinson listed. Glencoe hosted the visi ng Kongorong Hawks in a ba le of pride and the opportunity to keep in touch with the top four. Kongorong won the ba le, but I don't think they are a top four side by any stretch of the imagina on. In a very even first half the Murphies took the game right up to Kongorong and were able to match them across the ground. Glencoe must be wondering how many more black cats are going to cross their path this year as they lost gun playmaker Dylan Childs in the opening minutes with a hamstring, key defender Dylan Pfitzner limped off early in the third quarter and young Brodie Glynn in a world of pain for much of the match. And it was a er half me that Kongorong took control of the game and booted away scoring 10 goals to 3. The Kongorong forwards were well held with Cam Smith, John Simkin, Cam Sandercock and Ma Cordy all registering 2 goals apiece. For the home side their lone mul ple goal scorer was Mick McRae with 4. Best players for the winners went the way of Ma Cordy, Charles Schultz, Paul Ellis and Harry Evans. Whilst for Glencoe Patrick Mitchell received BOG honours with Ben Swan, Ben Hentschke, Will Maloney, Carey Megaw and Jake Blackwell also named as their side's be er players. Glencoe will be thankful for the bye this week, but unlikely the weeks rest is going to be of any real benefit for their clash with ladder leaders and nemesis Kalangadoo in a fortnights me. Over at Mt Burr and although the home side got the win, Nangwarry were quite compe ve up un l half me. In an even opening term both sides had the same amount of scoring shots with Mt Burr leading by just 10pts. Nangwarry coach Luke Thomson would've been quite pleased with his side's efforts in the first half, but unfortunately for them Mt Burr had other ideas and came out a er the long break to completely dominate the game kicking 11-9 to Nangwarry's 0-5 – the highs and lows of football! Mt Burr shared the scoring around with 10 individual goal kickers for the day, led by Jack Gregory with 5, Nathan Muhovics 4, James Wallis and Kallan Bevan 3. For Nangwarry their only mul ple scorer for the day was Ben Just with 2. Be er players for Mt Burr were their running brigade in Tyler Stanley, Kallan Bevan, Taylor Redden, Taylor Allen, Nathan Muhovics and Will Bowering, whilst for Nangwarry their official be er players went the way of Ben Dinnison, Ryan Zerk, Bailey Lindner, Luke Thomson, Jake McKeon and Tom Vanderhorst. To this week’s round of matches and Robe
host Port MacDonnell in the ba le of the seasiders. Port MacDonnell will be looking to con nue their winning way and overtake Robe for that all important double chance posi on on the ladder. For Robe they will be looking to regroup and get back on the winners list as we head to the half way mark of the season. Port MacDonnell are slowly building, not much fanfare to write about, they go about their business with a very workmanlike a tude. Their taller players this week will certainly test Robe and the contest between the two-best ruckman in the league, McElroy and Wachtel will be a definite highlight. Robe made some interes ng changes to a winning formula last week; not so sure they were the right ones as they struggled up forward. Tough match to call, so I'll toss a coin and come up with the home side, but no surprises if Port MacDonnell get the chocolates. Hatherleigh host Mt Burr which is a must win for the visitors if they want to remain in conten on of a top four finish. Surprisingly these sides are only separated by percentage, but I expect the home side will be far too effec ve on their home deck. Even though both sides are built around a running game, the open spaces that Hatherleigh are more accustomed to will be to their advantage. Hatherleigh are a very even side and have ball winners across every line and they will be far too strong for Mt Burr this week. Nangwarry host Tantanoola and earlier in the year I would've nearly picked the Saints for the win. They are s ll a 5-6 goal be er side than previous seasons, but pu ng together a four-quarter effort is what is going to be required to get them over the line this week. Tantanoola showed what they are capable of with their win over Mt Burr before last week's bye – can they bring that same game plan and four quarter effort this week to overcome what I am sure will be a very determined Saints ou it? Both sides rely on a talented crop of young football stars and I'm sure this game may just be a bit closer than most expect. I'm desperately hoping that Nangwarry can get over of the line, but the head tells me otherwise and I expect that it will be the Tantanoola Tigers singing their song Saturday a ernoon. In the last game of the round Kongorong take on the all-concurring Kalangadoo. Kalangadoo are humming along nicely at the minute and will be mindful that for Kongorong to have any shred of hope of playing finals, they need to start bea ng the teams above them on the ladder and no be er place to start than with the numerouno. Kalangadoo won't let this one slip and even a 3-figure margin wouldn't surprise. Kongorong officials would be a li le disappointed with their season thus far, having gained extra player points from the League on the premise that they haven't played finals for 17 years, well sorry to burst your bubble but a er this year it's going to be 18! Kalangadoo to win and win well.

COVER story
300 REASONS FOR HAINES TO CELEBRATE Today, the Hatherleigh Football Club acknowledge a major milestone for Luke Haines who will play his 300th senior game on his home ground against Mount Burr. Luke had his first taste of footy in primary school where he filled in for St Anthony’s playing against his older brother, in a sign of things to come, Luke was listed in the best players in that game. Luke started his junior football career in 1991 playing in the U14s and 16s at Millicent before making his way out to Hatherleigh in 1996 to play Senior Colts. He was part of the winning premiership team that year under coach Nigel Brown as well as making his debut in the A Grade. Luke’s football career so far has seen him win 5 premierships, with the Seniors in 2002 and 2005 (where Luke removed a plaster cast from his broken hand so he could play). Luke has also won Reserves flags in 2008, 2018 and 2019. Luke’s passion for the game has seen him rewarded with the Reserves Best & Fairest Watson Medal in 2009, 2010 and 2014 as well as being voted captain many mes over the years. Luke has predominately played as a tough and tenacious defender, not afraid to get into the bo om of the pack and has the ability to play any posi on on the field he is
asked. His ability to take an intercept mark has been on show from many years. Luke has o en taken on the best forward and has been undersized, however he always acqui ed himself well, due mainly to his superior fitness and hunger to succeed. Luke has always stood up for his teammates, especially the younger genera ons, and was always there to pick them up and offer encouragement. Later in his career he has made his way forward where again his superior fitness and marking abili es were on display where he regularly kicked bags of goals. Luke has been a keen volunteer around the club making various bar tops over the years, was heavily involved in the re-development of the new bar facili es in 2018 as well as the wine barrel tops which have stood the test of me and are keenly sought out on Thursday and Saturday nights. With 3 daughters, Lacey, Tori and Alex all future netball stars for Hatherleigh, Luke will con nue to be a valued part of our club for years to come and today we honour him for achieving a huge milestone in playing 300 Senior games and all the success he has achieved in his football career. Congratula ons on a great achievement from everyone at Hatherleigh!

A fantas c day last week to come away with four wins from four games, making the Coola Cup Night an even bigger reason to let the hair down and enjoy the celebra ons. Well done to the coordinators, Brad, Em and Ash on a job well done, and again a special thank you to the Ellis Family, yet another amazing night enjoyed by many. Last week's games reviews are as follows: Minis: Huge thank you to Glencoe for hos ng us last week. It was a cracking day and a cracking game to watch with Koby "G" Galloway pu ng on an absolute clinic, Noah Von Stanke-Dowie was also back to his best, playing good hard footy, but the last few minutes belonged to Iziah Stevens kicking his first goal ever and then he kicked another 2! William Beare also kicked his first goal, with a clever crumb. Thanks again Glencoe and see you next me at home. Junior Colts: A er having the bye it was great to be back at footy and with a perfect day for it as well. We were a li le slow out of the blocks in the 1st quarter with scores level at quarter me but during the second quarter we switched into gear and got the running game going and kicked away and from there we were never headed and managed a comfortable win. Once again it was a quality game of footy from both sides with some good ball movement and some tough encounters throughout the 4 quarters. Had to get some help with the best players as once again a very even team performance. But the Swallow Drive Meats best player went to Ryan Lucas who was in everything from the outset and managed 3 goals for his efforts. Second best and Rocks Shop award went to Deegan Bogie who is growing into the centre half forward role nicely and becoming a real focal point for us as we move the ball forward. Jim Kyle once again controlled across the half back line and providing plenty of run took home the Rocks Tavern award. Another of our small fleet footed group is star ng to find his feet on the wing and doesn't mind the contest played a strong 4 quarters took home the Mick Mullen encouragement award. Declan Richardson who thrives on ge ng in and under but s ll provides plenty of run and breaks the lines received the coach's award. The Angelino Family award went to Rhys Newton who is star ng to find his feet and using his run and carry to set up many a play for the team further up the ground. As the weeks con nue the group is improving with every game and really coming together as team. Today it's great to be back on our home ground as we take on the Magpies. Go Hawks. Senior Colts: What a day for football - it was finals type weather and that's how the boys come to play. They showed exactly what is needed to make sure at the final siren the scoreboard is in your favour. Coming back into the squad was Mav Cooper and he put on a clinic and showed form of old receiving the Ma hews Petroleum award for best on. 2nd best went to the young Texan aka James Allen who was freed up from his CHF du es and let loose on the wing with plenty of run and carry and his team efforts was above all else and was rewarded with the Janeway Concre ng award. 3rd best was Tom Bellinger who struggled early but when put on the ball showed some dazzle, and a piroue e that even a dancer could learn from, to show

some clean heels with the MT Wheels award. Badenoch's Deli award went to Troy Eder, who had a great game in defence and while he didn't do the flashiest things, he was strong in defence and ran the ball out many mes with link up play. Lucas Kyle come on in the heat of the game and showed he is learning his cra and help setup a few goals, and nearly kicked a great goal out of a pack. Lastly, again could of covered 10 players, the Spot On Fishing award went to Jake Carrigan who showed how big his body is and played a great game shu ng down a dangerous player from Glencoe and held his own. We now look forward to a home game and welcome the ever-tough Kalangadoo. Reserves: Headed down to the home of the Murphies and the boys were on from the getgo! Kicking the first 4 goals of the game, Glencoe kicked back, placing us up by a couple of goals at the first break. It was a similar story in second quarter, and then in the third the boys put the foot down piling on 10 goals to all but seal the deal. A couple more in last quarter consolidated the hard work enabling us to come away with an 80 point win! Best was Ryan 'Vickers' Vickery off the half back with Commersh award. Second Jack 'Mull' Mullan with bag of 10 goals to his credit, well and truly earnt the Collins Court Butcher award, third Fraser Brewster with the Pick Ave Bakery award, followed closely by Dan Kain in fourth, fi h Bayley 'Bubba' Von Duve and sixth Big Bryce James for his reless efforts in the ruck. Seniors: What a terrific day for footy as we took on Glencoe on their home turf. The first half of footy seen us go into the half me break trailing by a point, a er some inaccurate kicking at goal. It was important the team came out firing at the beginning of the third, as this has been an area that had let us down in the past few weeks. However the third term seen us play a real good team brand of footy, and with some hard work and consistency we were able to pull away from the Murphies to eventually run out winners by some 43 points. Best players included Ma Cordy who is consistently improving each week. Charlie Schultz bounced back from his 30th birthday celebra on to be named second best, and heads off around Australia for the next six months so we wish him well, and look forward to his return in 2022. Paul Ellis wandered up forward to kick a goal and was solid in defence all day to get third best. Harry Evans returning for his second game for the season was a welcome addi on to the team, showing he's never ‘out of touch’ coming in at fourth best. A tough challenge today, but we're up for it! Upcoming: Woodchop tomorrow at Trevor Telford's. Cu ng and spli ng to be done, and wood will be for sale so bring your ute and/or trailer and get loaded up. Next week we will head to the Bellum for presenta ons and teas a er the Port Mac game. Don't forget the Past Players Day on 26th June where all past players will be welcome to a end v Tantanoola, at home and we will have 'Halfa 6 Pack' playing a er meals. Good luck to all football & netball teams this week.

Round 7 saw Kalangadoo host Robe. Another perfect winter's day at the home of football. Robe were too strong across the 1st 3 grades last week. Kalangadoo took the points in the main game by 4 goals. Under 11: Once again we had great numbers in the Mini's! Boxy and Tys have the kids flying. They are developing at a rapid rate. Tenacious tackling and team work have been the focus this season. Junior Colts: We were undermanned and undersized again last week, but the kids always play a good hard brand of football. Robe ended up running away winners, which I don't think truly reflects how the game panned out. For such a small and inexperienced side our pressure around the ball was second to none. Keep working hard kids! Senior Colts: Saturday was a tough day at the office for the Under 17s. Robe have played together for a long me now and it showed. Their teamwork and ability to find each other by foot was very impressive. Connor Gen le was named best player again, he is pu ng a really consistent season together. It's really important to stay posi ve and keep building. With sustained hard work results will come. Reserves: We fielded a slightly more inexperienced team this week due to injuries sustained over the previous couple of games. Robe are a very fit and well drilled ou it. We kept up with them un l half me, but fitness and a lack of con nuity within the group showed in the second half. The next couple of games are cri cal for the group. 2nd qtr
3rd qtr
We need to win both games to stay in the mix and build in the second half of the season. Stay ght as a group and con nue to put in the work and opportuni es will arise. Seniors: Robe proved their undefeated start to the season was no fluke, they were tough, quick and very skilful. But fortunately for Kalangadoo, our relentless pressure and desire to hunt the ball came through again. We won the game by 20 points, but looking at the scoreboard we probably could have won by a few more goals. We had 12 more scoring opportuni es but didn't convert as well as we could have. I think last week was the best we have executed our game plan all season. Once again our back 6 were superb. They intercepted and rebounded superbly, making it a nightmare for any forward. The Glove (Banno) led from the front and was named best on ground. This week sees us head to Kongorong, which I think will be a tough game across all 4 grades. If our senior grades s ck to the script and con nue to put the team first we should come away with two great wins. We head across to The Commersh a er the game for presenta ons. Come along and say g'day to Kdoo legend and manager Laney. Teas will be available. Lastly, a quick reminder for Round 9 v Glencoe. We have Sponsors Day, Indigenous Round, women's footy presos and the official opening of our facili es upgrade. See you all there! Go Maggies! 4th qtr

Senior Colts: Last week, we ventured down to the Doo for another great day for football. The sun was shining and there was no wind to influence the match. Kalangadoo were keen to get their first win for the season and the Robe boys to secure their 6th win. We gave them 2 players to make up the 16 on the field for a game. The Robe boys burst out of the blocks kicking 9 goals in the first quarter blowing Kalangadoo out of the water. The s ng was well and truly out of the game by the second quarter. We slacked off a er a huge first quarter only kicking 2 goals in the second. To Kalangadoo’s credit they moved the ball well and managed to get a goal for the quarter. A er half me and a rev up, the Robe boys came out with the same a tude as they did in the first. We piled on another 10 goals to Kalangadoo’s 1 for the 3rd quarter. We shared a number of our best players to give Kalangadoo the best chance to move the footy and score. The Robe boys who donned the opposing guernsey gave it their all and didn't hold back. They also enjoyed trying to take on their mates and support the opposi on. The midfield of Robe gelled well with the likes of Mason Keane, Flynn Peel, Ethan Cornish taking control of the game. In the fourth, both teams were exhausted from the warm sun. Jesse Robertson's leadership shone through with him doing numerous blocks, tackles and smothers. In the last, the goals slowed and Robe only kicked 4 goals for the quarter. Overall, the game was played with great spirit for both sides and Robe came away with the win. This week we face the struggling Port MacDonnell back on our home turf. We look forward to seeing you then for the best day of the week! Tom 'Woka' Wachtel Reserves: The Reserves side travelled to Kalangadoo looking for another win to try and consolidate their promising start to the season against a much improved Kalangadoo Reserves side. The first half of the game was ght with Kalangadoo taking a one point advantage into the second half. At half me the side was urged by the coaches to take control of the football and get the game back on our terms. We responded and with Cornish and Co. taking control of the midfield and the forward line opera ng with increased space and improved delivery we were able to take a comfortable lead into the last change a er a 5 goal to 1 third term. Encouragingly in the last quarter we were able to maintain our intensity and improved ball use to kick a further 6 goals to run out comfortable 51 point

winners on the day. It was a really promising team performance with all players making contribu ons to the victory with Sco Sawyer’s 6 goal effort the highlight. The backline performed well especially in the first half when Kalangadoo were having the be er of the midfield clearances. Our ability to take control of the midfield in the second half and some accurate kicking by our forwards was the key to the victory in the end. A special thanks to Flynn Peel and first game Senior Colts Ethan Cornish and Jayden Lines for helping us out, I know the boys love having the youth (and extra speed!) in the side. We now turn our a en on to our next challenge at home against the second placed Pt MacDonnell side. If we can maintain our pressure around the ball and con nue to improve our ball movement as a team hopefully we can leapfrog the Demons on the table and keep the momentum building. Hope to see you all there. A Grade: Great day for football at Kalangadoo with a breeze favouring the town end. The Doo’s kicked with the breeze in the first quarter and a great game of football ensured it was a ght match with both sides giving no quarter a acking the ball and man with no fear. The majority of the quarter was played in the Doo’s forward line and Robe had to defend strongly. Quarter me the Magpies lead by eleven points. In the second quarter Robe kicked with the wind but could not make any headway and the Magpies controlled the centre and the wings and con nually sent the ball forward. Robe appeared ra led by the pressure that the Doo’s applied but gradually the Roosters upped their intensity and scored some goals which put scoreboard pressure on the Doo’s. At half me the scoreboard showed the Doo’s leading by nine points. All was set for a great second half. The Doo’s came fast out the blocks scoring two quick goals se ng a task for the Roosters. While Robe struggled hard, the Doo’s system in the forward line resulted in them taking control of the game and led by four goals. Robe then turned it on and got three quick goals which again made the game a struggle and at three quarter me the Doo’s led by sixteen points. The last quarter was a torrid affair with both teams giving no quarter. Robe however could not make any inroads and Kalangadoo ran out winners. Calcu a: Tom Wachtel, Kane Dunn, James Fransisco. Best players: Tom Wachtel, Kane Dunn, James Fransisco, Jordan Pe t, Brodie Foulds, Jack Sneath.

Junior Colts: We came up against a much bigger and stronger team in Hatherleigh last Saturday. The scoreboard did not reflect the effort our boys put in. I thought we ba led hard all day pu ng on some strong tackles and had some good passages of play where we were able to hit our targets and keep it off of the opposi on. Our best players for the day were 1st Nathaniel Abbo who played well at CHB and is star ng to read the play and was taking some great intercept marks. 2nd Jacob Spehr who won his fair share of taps in the middle and was able to break out of some strong tackles. 3rd Zaine Lewis who con nues his excep onal season by ge ng in and under, winning lots of the footy. 4th Je Lewis, rebounded well off of the half back flank. 5th Kai Gilmore who has a touch of class when he gets hold of the footy by dodging and weaving his way around opponents. 6th Tyler Neal who for someone is not scared to get in there and have a go and is more than willing to tackle much larger opponents. It was a much be er effort boys. Let's look forward to taking on Robe this week. Senior Colts: Disappoin ng game a er a solid start. Got a bit to work on at training this week. First best was Luke unbelievable today with 30+ possessions, Issaac played a captain's game, worked hard all game, Zeb E played his best game for the footy club improving every game, Connor solid in defence once again, Koby toughest kid on the ground puts in 100% every week, Zeb C solid in defence ran both ways all day. B Grade: A er a cracking start to the season, the B Grade took on its hardest challenge of the season when we hosted Hatherleigh. The weather gods turned on the best day you could imagine for a late May game, sun shining, a gentle breeze (maybe a slightly s ffer than gentle). A er the coaching staff having to work the phones last week to fill a side, the de turned slightly making it a li le easier to fill the side. The game was an entertaining affair with both sides looking every bit of top four sides. The slightly stronger breeze did play havoc with the goal kicking. The first quarter the teams were separated by 1 point, at half me it was 7 at 3 quarter me it was back to a point and at the final siren, it was a single goal that separated the sides, unfortunately we were on the wrong side of the goal

difference. Well done to Hatherleigh in taking out the win. Best for the week was Jacob Simmons who just gets be er every week, at different mes of the game it looked like he had his own footy on the ground. Second best was Gus McGregor who con nues to put together a fine season. Third best was the old campaigner Ma Sullivan who cuts up his opposi on, working angles and crea ng space. Fourth best was Lachie Tilley who returned a er a few weeks off and he looked like he hasn't missed a beat. Fi h best, another player that keeps ge ng be er every week, Ben Milstead. Sixth best was the returning veteran Trav Smith. Next week we head to the other venue by the sea, Robe. Robe has also been having a good season also only losing the 1 game so far this season. A Grade: A er a good tune up last week against the undermanned Nangwarry, the A Grade faced one of their biggest tests against Hatherleigh, another side that are firmly entrenched in the race for the four. You couldn't have asked for a be er day for such a big game, sun and the crowd came for the game and the weather. We also celebrated 2 milestone games with Mark Smith and Mal Lewis both reaching 100 games with the club. Both boys have not just had impact on the field, but off as well, being on different commi ees over their me, giving back to the club. Congratula ons to you both. When the game started the boys jumped out of the blocks kicking 5 goals to 0 in the first quarter but like a good side Hatherleigh fought back over the next 2 quarters to draw back within striking distance at 3 quarter me. In a tough last quarter, our boys managed to hold on to take a very nice 3 goal victory. Best was Daron McElroy who con nues to build on a fantas c season. Second best was another regular here, Dylan Bromley in another splendid performance. Third best was Kevin Thomson who also con nues his great start to the season. Fourth best was Rohan Povey who has returned to the club a er a few years away. Fi h best was Tim Sullivan who con nues his excellent year. Sixth best was Wade Chant who had a slightly interrupted season but is star ng to really hit his straps. We are off the seaside village of Robe for the next big challenge of the season. Let's hope we con nue our good form with another good showing.

Under 11: What a day down at the Bay! Sun out and the oval looking a treat! With a large number of kids on both sides the oval was extended and allowed for plenty of space and run and carry. The game was evenly matched and Pt Mac really made the HFC team work hard for their possession. Tackling pressure was intense and finding me to dispose of the ball was the challenge for the day. To the teams credit they worked well together sharing the ball well and finding teammates in space with some great delivery all the way down the field well done all. Award winners for the day were: $10 Dentons Sports Power award Reef Chambers week a er week con nues to evade all with his elusive skills and pace his understanding and reading of the ball is at a high level. HFC $5 award Kobe Skeer in his first season of U11s is gaining confidence each week and was in the mix of it on Saturday nice work Kobe. Ladies Commi ee award - Livvi Faulkner each week takes to the field with all the boys and is able to find some telling touches, great ruck tap also when playing through the middle third Saturday finding a team mate for a clear possession. McDonalds award - Archie Clark has to be one of the smallest kids to take to the field and this does not at all limit his intent on finding the ball playing a great game. Junior Colts: Last week we ventured down to Port Mac, to take on a tough Demons ou it. The kids ran away with an easy win in the end a er a consistent four quarter effort. Ollie Fitz was best on ground, using his elite ball skills to set up his teammates all day. Riley Prouse was second best with providing plenty from the centre. Fletcher Leopold had plenty of the ball, with his best game of the season. Charlie Sims was his usual consistent self, working all over the ground. Issac Chambers rounded out the best players, kicking 3 goals and being a strong presence in the forward line. Senior Colts: Last week we took on a determined Pt Mac group which made us work hard across the 4 quarters. A er a slow start, the boys really started playing an a rac ve brand of footy, o en switching the

ball, using the corridor and providing lots of run out of our backlines. The Atkinson brothers had a great game, finding lots of the ball. While Bowie and Harvey were crea ve through the middle hi ng targets all day. Danny was solid down back again, as was the 4 quarter performance by Aussie Ne le. This week we look to con nue our winning ways against Mt Burr and keep building on the areas we have been trying to improve. Reserves: Top of the table clash at Port Mac and we knew we were going to be up against a formidable opponent. Right from the first bounce it was a tough contest with the lead changing many mes throughout the match. Our backline yet again put in a terrific performance as we have come to expect every week. Our onballers led by Big Altsch in the ruck, had an arm wrestle all game and fortunately in the end we were able to come out on top and get the ball going our way to give our forwards enough opportuni es to get us over the line in a great ba le. Best players in a great team effort: Gilbo, Altsch, Dyl, Muff, Denno and Squinty. A Grade: We took on Port Mac on their home turf last weekend and got off to a slow start with the Demons kicking the first 4 goals of the game. The game was an arm wrestle with both teams failing to make the most of their inside 50s. It was a tough game with plenty of tough contests all over the game. In the end we couldn't overtake the quick start we gave them, with Port Mac running out 19 point victors. Be er players on the day for us was Will Chay who is pu ng together a very consistent season, providing plenty of run. Sam Waring had a great ba le in the ruck against a pair of formidable opponents. Joe Ferguson-Lane was excellent again, kicking 3 goals. Jed Telfer and Jordy Galpin were everywhere, genera ng plenty of play. Young Aky rounded out the best players, sliding into defence seamlessly. This week we take on Mount Burr on our home deck and hopefully return to the winners list.

What a glorious day greeted us last week for our home game against Nangwarry whose supporters always turn up to support their teams and support the host club. There were some close games played and the Burr came away with 4 wins. Congrats to Tyler Stanley on his 150th and Tim Li le on his 100th a er a late call up in the Reserves. Also a big thanks to Clarrie Squire who has offered to be our club umpire where he normally umpires 2 games on home games. Today a er the game we're going back to the Somerset for drinks in the bo om bar and meals are available in the bo om bar and sovereign bar but the dining room is booked out. Let’s support those who support us. Other upcoming events are team photos next home game vs Robe and also "Ba le at the Burr" Footballers vs Netballers a er Robe game. Be there for a great night. Junior Colts: Last week we came up against Nangwarry and knew we would be in for a tough game as they are si ng above us on the ladder. Last week we had a few boys back and Levi Thiele filled in for us as well. It was a tough game played with great sportsmanship. To our boys’ credit they tackled well and played well as a group. Leading the way was young Jayden Garner who was relentless on ball and chased all day, Charlie Bevan who kicked a couple of goals in the last quarter to seal the game, Will Wimshurst who rucked all game and was everywhere. The Brant boys as strong as ever down back and Jordan Burchall who had his head over the ball all game. We look forward to this 2nd qtr

week to test ourselves against a really strong opposi on. Cheers Tom. Senior Colts: Last week the boys took on a very determined but short on numbers Nangas. Three of our boys played for Nangas each quarter and didn't hold back pu ng plenty of pressure on their teammates. The boys put in a great team effort and came away with a comfortable win. Best players were Lachlan Alcock who dominated up forward with 8 goals. Trey Norton Li le had his best game for the year a acking hard all game. Callum Sparkes was on fire in the ruck with three goals. Kallan Bevan ran all day and worked hard back and forward. Brady Sharp was crea ve as usual ge ng in the right posi ons and crea ng space and Harrison Sutcliffe played back for the first me this year and hit targets all game coming out of defence. A Grade: Another perfect sunny day out at Mt Burr and it was great to be playing in front of our home crowd again. Congratula ons to Knife who played his 150th game for us on the weekend and rounded it off with a BOG performance. A leader and compe tor - a great cog to the Mt Burr system. A er a slow start we were able to get our running game moving and had some of our younger guys step up once again which was very pleasing. Best players were Knife, K. Bevan, T. Redden, T. Allen, Ninja and W. Bowering Looking forward to taking on Hatherleigh at Hatherleigh this round. Go Mozzies. 4th qtr

It was a picture-perfect day at the Burr last weekend, and we were very unlucky to not come away with a win. However, there is a lot of improvement across all four grades each week so keep at it. The club would like to give a shout out to Jamie who is unwell at the moment. We wish him all the best and hope to see him out on the track real soon. The club is s ll progressing and hopefully we will see a slab in a few weeks (did someone men on a slab party?). This week we host Tant before a welldeserved 2-week break, good luck to all teams. Following the game we will head over to the community club for a feed cooked by Mandy's Shack Catering before a bit of indoor bowls. You can s ll get a team in. Catch up with Tamara or Aidan. This week we acknowledge and thank McDonald's Mount Gambier and Richard's Crash Repairs. Be sure to stop at Maccas this week and buy that burger or coffee to say thanks! Hit a roo lately or reversed into a pole? Give Richards Crash Repair a call 8725 8820. Junior Colts: Well, what a day for footy as we ventured to the home of the Mozzies. The boys were in good spirits a er a great run on the track Thursday night. We let the Burr boys get a couple of quick goals in the first but fought back and grabbed the lead in the 3rd with everyone pu ng in 110%. We have no ced so much improvement in the lads over the last few weeks with even the younger kids pu ng their bodies on the line and really figh ng to get the ball. A few skills and decisionmaking errors in the last quarter cost us the game but overall, the boys fought hard all day. Archer was a standout along with Noah Benne , Wya and Riley. Team awards went to Harvey, Nate and Zayne. All in all they had a ripper day and can take a lot away from the game. The li le 1 percenter can be the difference in a hard-fought game of footy. Thanks again to our weekly sponsors and to the people who help out each week, the games don't happen without you. Also, a big shout out to Red our Senior Colts coach. We hope you're on the mend soon mate and look forward to seeing you back at the club. Senior Colts: The Senior Colt's boys played well in patches and had some very good end to end plays. Our Junior Colts that come up really set the tone by jumping on the footy against much bigger opposi on. We just need to get players to training and start to gel more

and more wins will come along the way. Thanks to Mount Burr for supplying us with players. B Grade: Well with a first full team for the season signs were op mis c for a be er performance and the Nangas boys started with a bang with a 4 goals to 1 first quarter thanks largely to Adam Stewart at full forward. Midway thru the 2nd I felt Mt Burr gained their composure while we were hun ng the man rather than the football and were down by 9 pts at the half. The 3rd quarter we had all the play but 5 consecu ve shots on goal resul ng in 0.3 and then for Mt Burr to catch us on the counter really did hurt the belief in the side and in the last it ended up being a 29 point loss which I think the Burr boys would agree was a lot ghter game. Unfortunately having only 4 B Grade players at training last week you kind of get what you put in, but at least the boys know that the skill is there. Best player for us was returning Saint Nathan King, the li le number 9 played on ball for the majority of the game and had it on a string, Nick Rowe was dominant at half back with his run and carry, Josh Clayfield played his usual solid game, Rory Mills was electric early on the half forward line, Jayke Parsons playing his first game for the year, played everywhere and was physical at the contest and Chris Bonney doing the one percenters for the team. Special men on to Stewy up forward and Jezza Weyers playing his first game for the club and looks a real solid player moving forward. Let's see if we can cause an upset against Tant on Saturday. A Grade: Our A Grade boys showed up ready to play in the first quarter going goal for goal against Mount Burr. We went in at quarter me with confidence but got complacent with what we had done, and the Burr piled on 9 goals. The second half was much the same, our third quarter was good with a few good passages of play and our pressure was through the roof, but unfortunately we could not get much of a score on the board. Mount Burr ran away with the game giving us a 116 point loss. Credit to Reece Duncan and his side, they ran the game out really well and their kids stood up. Bring on this week against Tant at home then two weeks off which will hopefully give us enough me to get some of our players back from injury. We are on the up despite of what the scoreboard says so our boys need to keep training hard, and the reward will come on the scoreboard soon. Cheers LT

Congratula ons Adam Lindner who played his 200th game for Tant when we played Mt Burr last game. This milestone has been a long me coming due to injuries in the past couple of years, not surprising when you see the way he plays pu ng his body on the line every game. Well done Pa o! A er our game against Pt Mac where we were a li le switched off early we came out full of fire and played a very strong game. The way we started to team up and use each other was the best it's been all year. We just need to remember to use our voice more to push each other. Bests were Brayden, Jake, Braydn, Ashton and Summer but could have been many more. Awards
were Eli (Jennings), Jake (Canteen) Summer (Fasta Pasta) and Lucas (KFC). Well done to the senior sides on their first wins of the year, hopefully more to come. Senior Colts: Under 17 boys came up against a much bigger bodied side in Mt Burr. Our boys in the first 2 quarters got sucked in to playing their game but a er a hard me got back on track playing the way we want to play. We started using all the players from the big boys down to the under 14's who do a great job filling in every week so enjoy your week off lads. Best players Paddy Jennings, Jack Cytrowski, Cade, Will and Brodie B Grade: G'day everyone, what a difference a week in footy makes, a er a tough week down at the Bay the boys really responded for Pa o's 200th against the Burr boys. We managed to get a few older heads back onto the park and had a full side for the first me this season. The scoreboard didn't really reflect the tough game against the Burr boys. I'm just really glad we got our first W for the season. Hopefully plenty more to come. Best players were Bundy, Clarkey, Chaps, HJ and Pa o. Enjoy the weekend off lads and we will see you at Nangwarry. Go Tigers A Grade: G'day everyone. Last game we took on Mt Burr at home. Not only was it a big game being a loyal and hard working teammates 200th game, but we were also coming into this game searching for our first win for the year. The boys came in hungry and determined. Mount Burr definitely made us earn it but with vice captain Jack Dawe kicking 5 goals from the midfield it definitely helped our side come away in the end with the win. Best players in no order were Jack Dawe, Chris Oliver, Hayden Brown, Braydn Reilly, Jordan Ha and Cam Saint.

ROUND 8 A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW ROBE v PORT MACDONNELL Robe take on Port MacDonnell at home in the ba le of the sea-siders. Both teams suffered a loss at the weekend, Robe went down to Kalangadoo by 26 goals, while the Demons were defeated by Hatherleigh by 24 goals. Both teams were gallant in their defeats and will be looking forward to this weekend’s game to try to get a win on the board. Port MacDonnell have been strong through the middle with Michelle Moore and Jess Trench combining well. They will likely line up against the Rooster's Kerryn Moore and Asha Pe t who have been working well together since losing Kim Ross from their midcourt. Brooke Williams has been good for the Bay, her accuracy has made her a focal point for the Demons this season. Robe’s defence line of Georgia Perkins and Alannah Campbell will need to con nue their good form to stop Williams ge ng into the game. Tori Gluyas should be back this week for the Roosters, her and Sarah Laurie are hard to beat. Port Mac’s Morgan Amy and Lisa McGregor work well for the Bay in defence and should provide entertaining match ups with Gluyas and Laurie. Robe coach Kimberly Aus n can play at either end too and adds a steading influence to her team. This will be a close game with both teams desperate for the win. KONGORONG v KALANGADOO Kongorong are back home this week taking on the undefeated Magpies. Kongorong suffered a big defeat at the weekend, going down by 39 to Glencoe. The Magpies con nued on their merry way in season 2021, defea ng Robe by 26 goals. Kalangadoo have so much depth and this was shown again at the weekend. Junior Kori Collins took to the court in the GS
posi on in the absence of Melissa Russell and played good solid netball, supported by Abbey Duncan returning from injury. Emalee Stokker and Ella McIntyre will likely start in goals for the Hawks, they will be put to the test against K'doo’s defence line of Chloe Pra , Chelsea Croser and Mikaila Pi . Jayde Peacock and Jane Auld have been dominant in the midcourt for the Magpies, they will likely match up against Sarah Beare and Sam Fox or Georgia Seidel. Kongorong’s defence line of Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody give 100% every week but will be no match for the power and depth of the Magpies a ack line. I would expect Kalangadoo to again give their talented juniors some court me. Kalangadoo for a big win. HATHERLEIGH v MOUNT BURR Hatherleigh are back home this week and host Mt Burr in what should be the game of the round. Both teams have been in exci ng form, taking it up to ladder leaders Kalangadoo and showing that both clubs are a force to be reckoned with. Hatherleigh goalies Maddie Pulmer and Lacey Haines have been in red hot form, moving beau fully and shoo ng with accuracy. Likewise the Mozzies’ Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty have been outstanding in the goal circle, pu ng on some incredible shoo ng displays. Accuracy of these 4 goalies will be paramount to the outcome of this game. Both teams boast an outstanding defence line, Madi Hagge and Heidi Clark for the Burr work well together, turning over many balls and snapping up any rebounds with Hagge ’s height a huge advantage. Down the other end of the court,
Proudly supporting the Mid South East Football League
Maddie Redman and Sarah Broadhead have been outstanding in defence for the Eagles with Redman named in the best against the Demons last weekend. Midcourt ba les will be fascina ng. Tegan Merre , Lara McGregor and Sarah Faulkner lining up against Laura Schultz, Ann Guye and Ella Fal ng. This will be a great game to watch, spectators will be spoiled with this one! Hard to pick winner, will the home crowd get the Eagles over the line, or will the visitors take the glory? NANGWARRY v TANTANOOLA Nangwarry are back home this week and take on Tantanoola. Nangwarry suffered a 41 goal loss to Mount Burr last weekend while Tantanoola are coming off the bye. Leading up to the bye Tantanoola had a gutsy 7 goal win against Mount Burr, showing they will also be pushing for a finals spot this year. Nangwarry defenders Hayley Vanderhorst and Carly Ploenges give 110% for the Saints and will need to again be at their very best to stop Emma Gould and Jami Walker who have been working well together and shoo ng with accuracy. Gould is also a strong rebounder and o en gets a second shot at any missed opportuni es. Gould and Walker are well supported by Casey Walker and Vic Lucas in the midcourt. Nangwarry have Hayley Burner in great form for them through the middle, she is a steadying influence and feeds her goalies, Dinnison and Pra , beau fully. Standing in Dinnison and Pra ’s way is the Tiger defence combo of Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe. The height of Rowe and the clever play from Bromley makes them a tough combina on to beat. Tantanoola will take the points. Glencoe has the bye.

NETball club notes Junior 2: With our first game in two weeks we took a bit of me to get into the game. We had some tall opposi on which was hard as they took many intercepts but we tried all game. We need to remember to come in front of our players and not call for the ball behind. Great driving down the court and making space by Lily. Awards: Lily Bellum and Alyssa - Telford family. Junior 1: Last week was probably our toughest game we have played so far against a really strong Glencoe team. All the girls should be so proud of their efforts on the court as they all played so well. Everything we have been prac cing at training was used on court which improved our game. Awards: Lily - Angelino family award and Lacy - Hungry Jacks award. 15 & Under: Fantas c win girls! Another great game of netball to watch, a great team effort with all players pu ng in 100%. Awards: Athletes Foot - Thalia and Kaboom - Kyla Gordon. 17 & Under: Tough game for our girls unfortunately. Taylah and Issy worked relessly in the defensive circle applying lots of pressure while Marnee and Milla ran through the mid court pu ng on strong drives. Kate, Skye and Pheobe all shot very well with some great passages of play showing through our a ack line. We were hoping the game was going to be closer than it was but it just wasn't our day. Great effort by all the girls to not drop their heads too much and con nue to fight for the ball. Best players: Isobel - Kaboom and Pheobe - Bakers Delight. B Reserve: Bad luck girls, not our best play. Glencoe were tough and on the ball and we
NETball club notes will work on this at training as I know we can get be er. Lots to improve on. Awards: Lima and Co. - Julie and Tamika - Fasta Pasta. B Grade: What a well fought game girls. Going against the top of the leaderboard was never going to be easy but we worked well and got some good turnovers. Just wasn't quite enough to get us the win. Awards: Chloe - Lima and Co and Scout - Bakers Delight. A Reserve: Tough game which was to be expected against the well groomed Glencoe side. Unfortunately we didn't come away with the win and had our first loss as a team for the season but came away with a lot of things to work on. Awards: Rach - Fasta Pasta and Nat Boost Juice. A Grade: Once again we got off to a slow start but this me we never managed to find our rhythm. We decided to use our opportunity to try a few different combina ons in defence and mid court proving the versa lity of our side. Unfortunately Glencoe proved too strong and we were not able to close the margin going down 65 to 26. We will work hard again at training to strengthen our court presence and develop our team plays before taking on Kalangadoo. Awards: Sam - Boost Juice and Emily L Fasta Pasta. Congratula ons to all the Kongorong girls who tried out for Country Champs. We were fortunate to have three of our girls selected to represent the Mid South East league. The following girls were selected - Grace Altschwager 13 and Under, Evie Sealey 15 and Under and Riley Buckingham Seniors. Good luck at Country Champs in Adelaide in June.
Junior 2: What a warm day for netball. All the girls have improved so much in the last 2 weeks I've been away it was hard to pick best players. Ge ng the ball from defensive to a ack s ll needs improvement but we are ge ng there. Gracie was intercep ng the ball and kept a ght defensive received Penola's Recyle award and Elana has improved lots received Paradise Pizza award and Pippa received Baker's Delight for having a good go in centre for the first me. Let's get defensive right and we will be great on court. Junior 1: Another great game from our li le Magpies. You all worked hard and showed skills that we have been working on at training. It is awesome to see your improvement and teamwork - well done. It was fantas c to have Sophie, Carney, Jorja and Milla join us for a quarter and you all slo ed into our team beau fully. Awards: Lexi Penola Recyclables, Ashley Bakers Delight and Ebony SAL. 13 & Under: With players away we took the opportunity to give junior players, Ava, Emity and Molly a couple of quarters each in the thirteens. They were well supported by the “experienced” ones! 15 & Under: All our regulars got a full game last week which is pleasing from the coaches' point of view. Awards went to Ebony (Copenhagen), Chloe (Fasta Pasta), Tegan (McDonalds) and Alice (Athletes Foot). 17 & Under: A great game girls, with everyone contribu ng to a good win. We certainly showed what a versa le team we have! Thanks again to the 15s for helping us out and to the scorers and mers each week. Sophie Varcoe - Kalangadoo Organic, Shelby Ryan - Chelsea Feast. B Reserve: Wow, just wow! It's not just that we have eight very good players working as a
team - they all seemed to bring their “A” game to the match on the one day! Sheltons award went to Gem and Fasta Pasta to Imogene. B Grade: Another solid win by the girls. We came out strongly and although Robe had some really nice passages of play, we managed to maintain and extend our leads. We have some real team cohesion at the moment and even with some players out of posi on managed to support one another really well. Best: Jessica Blackmore Beauty by Re, Nicole Reeves Athletes Foot, Brianna Gale Kalangadoo Apple Juice. A Reserve: Bit of a slow start but we adjusted, started playing our own game and were soon displaying our usual strengths. Defence played amazing and caused many turnovers throughout the goal third. Schultzy, Re and Shannon all combined well along with Shelby showing that she's able to perform in seniors in various posi ons. Mid court created plenty of space with Anthea providing solid direc on to feeders and goalies. The communica on between the goalies is con nuing to improve each week and Maddy has once again impressed with her posi oning and movement. Reanna was named best in her final game for the season, she will be missed on court but will be a strong voice on the sideline. Schultzy received second best for yet another domina ng defensive game. A Grade: Good team effort girls. It was great to have Abbey back on court and together with Aunty Jane and Kori had some great passages of play in a ack. Chels, Mickey and Chloe worked hard, with great ball pressure and handy touches and ps which were well capitalised. Thanks to Sophie and our own Bingo Master Shanen for si ng bench. Awards: Abbey - Terry White and Mikey - Pines Hotel.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Almost half way through the season and the girls are star ng to understand posi ons. We have been trialling the girls playing in no more than 2 posi ons throughout the game and they really seem to be adjus ng to this change well. There were many turnovers with them ge ng their hands up over the ball and defending every pass. Incen ve (Canteen) went to Scarle Ferguson for an incredible game in defence. Arms over every pass, picking up players while also standing her player when needed. Great game Scarle . Awesome effort girls. Junior 1: It was a tough game but you kept on going and tried hard all game, well done. Ge ng in front was difficult with some really tall opponents. Big thanks to Sienna Brooks for helping out last week. Incen ve (Canteen): Holly Varga for playing a great game and tried really hard. Chocolate award: Tilly Schubert who was strong all game and did her best to get in front. 13 & Under: Robe 8 Kalangadoo 56. Well, we never thought it was ever going to be an easy game due to the scores Kalangadoo had been bea ng sides by. Our first half was a struggle and surprisingly a warm day. At half me we recognised we were flat footed and we were not making strong leads. Our second half was much be er and Kaitley Brooks got best player (Steve's Place) for her awesome defensive work in WD and Olivia Cheung got incen ve (Robe Seafood & Takeaway) for her perseverance with goals and became more confident in the last quarter. Overall, a pleasing effort against a strong side! 15 & Under: Robe 9 Kalangadoo 46. We had talked about our posi ve a tudes going into tough games and I was proud of the way you all approached the match at Kdoo. Our second quarter was probably the best as it took a while to find our feet, and it was a bit of fun to swap around in the last. Jenna copped a brand new ball to the face ge ng a blood nose but bravely came back in the second half con nuing to be an op on in the mid court transi ons. Hapaira looked very comfortable in WD which was nice to see. Lucy had a good crack in defence alongside our tough nut Tilly whom I am loving in GD this season. I find Emily is an important key at WA in our a ack line whilst s ll learning the ropes in centre. Kik some mes has a big job on Saturdays with big opponents, but she always has a smile and never drops her head. Georgie is a strong GA and is developing her goalie game but hey she looked pre y good in GD earning the incen ve (The Project). Our best player (The Union) went to Ella who worked really hard against a talented C opponent, not dropping her head and providing that important back up down the court. We have another couple of hard games ahead but our a tudes and team work are making the difference. 17 & Under: Robe 32 Kalangadoo 61. Bad luck girls. An unfortunate game with many opportuni es. We came out strong and were on top of them in the first quarter just dropping in the last few minutes being 6 down at quarter me. With warm condi ons and a coaching error on my behalf of not changing the game up earlier pushed us further away from our goal. A ack worked relessly and had some fantas c passages of play! Defence had many touches, but we need to work on working as a team and all pu ng in the effort. Best player (Loaves & Fishes) went to Ella Mackey, great game in GA, crea ng movement in the goal ring to assist Maddie in GS. Incen ve (The Pastry Place) went to Amalie, no steps all game, adjusted her passing to be stronger and in front of players, and fantas c encouragement! The best way to pump each other up on the court is to celebrate the victories, whether it be a touch, intercept or goal - show your team you support them. The score definitely doesn't reflect the game and K'doo isn't out of reach. Let's brush it off
NETball club notes and look to Pt Mac this week which will be another tough game so we need to go out hard and strong. B Reserve: Robe 14 Kalangadoo 86. It was a pleasure to play top of the ladder K’doo, even though the scoreline reveals a bit of a caning. K’doo are well polished and well mannered, even cheering the Robe coach who played and po ed a few goals in the last quarter. It was warm out there as demonstrated by Rhi basking in the shade between quarters and we were lucky to have a couple of stray goalies in Kirsty and Libby to assist with our team plan. We had some good patches of play and even though we made quite a few mistakes, we didn't let it phase us a great deal, simply regrouping each quarter. Calcu a (The Union) was Mandz Clarke who had her work cut out for her against a talented goalie but she s ll managed quite a few flashy and not so flashy possessions. The Incen ve (Original Skin Co) was held over as the rest of us were pre y even stevens. Bianca Svic joins us as team manager whilst her sis Jess recuperates with her moon boot - thanks girls for sor ng things courtside. B Grade: Robe 30 Kalangadoo 84. We came up against a well-oiled opposi on, and in the heat we ran out of puff! But I'm so proud that everyone gave their all and tried their best. We went for every rebound, unfortunately we just aren't the tallest team going around but our efforts are to be admired. Bonnie played a solid 4 quarters in WD and managed quite a few turnovers. Thanks to Madi from U17s for running a quarter of centre for us, and Ella also from the U17s who played a half in GA, she moved well and was accurate, probably only missing one goal for the half and that's why she was named my incen ve (Loaves & Fishes) for the game. Emma rose to the challenge of playing the last quarter in centre, your ability to reoffer and throw into the space in the ring was incredible, and she received Calcu a (The Cally). Things to keep working on this week are the strength of our passes, using our voices on court and wai ng un l leads are presented before throwing to limit turnovers. Coming up against Port Mac this week, it will be close so hopefully we can get these basics right. A Reserve: Robe 23 Kalangadoo 65. A great team game with everything we have been working on at training being displayed on the court! Despite the scoreline, I'm super proud of every player who all played their role and did everything that was asked of them. Belle and Shelby had a very tough game in goals but con nued to hold strong - we'll keep working on moving forward. Keelin (Calcu a, The Project) and Jade combined so well reading off of one another and delivering well into the shooters. Car a (Incen ve, Burger & Co) brought the ball down the court strong with great fast leads along with Pom, Demi and Billie throughout the game. Demi and Pom had great defence making it very hard for the goalies with many touches. Big well done to Billie who really played strong and proved her ability to play senior netball coming on in the last half. Let's get out and have another week of solid training. A Grade: Robe 28 Kalangadoo 54. We knew we were up for a tough game against the top team, but we came out with confidence and everyone played a great team game. Each player worked relessly all game. Georgia and Alannah once again got lots of touches and rebounded well. Sammy got lots of touches at WD. Keryn and Asha also played well driving and feeding into the ring. Sarah shot well under lots of pressure, Kimberley started in goals and moved well, however Halle came in at half me and moved well in the a ack line. Jess also had a run in the last quarter, with some fresh legs in C. Let's keep working on those 1% and keep building on our team game. Calcu a (Me & Miss Jones): Asha Pe t. Incen ve (Mahalia Coffee): Sarah Laurie.
Junior 1: Last week we were a bit short on team members and had to have Lucy sit our bench. So thank you very much to Lucy for si ng on our bench, and playing half. The Hatherleigh girls were tough, and very tall. We tried our best and our five feet and prac ce of chasing the ball at training was put into work. The girls are trying harder each week! Keep up the good work girls. Awards went to Evie who got the Boost and KFC to Molly. Junior 2: A big congratula ons to my girls last week. We have all really stepped up to the plate and really have shown that they want to give it a crack. The game was exactly what we asked for, everyone got behind each other and helped each other throughout the game. Our passes and our leading was much be er. We are really ge ng to know our posi ons on court and knowing what our job is to do as a team we have grown in the last two weeks and we are really star ng to look for each other on the court which is great to see we really are star ng to look like a team and we are having fun. Our transi on on court was outstanding, our passes were quick and we were throwing the ball as soon as the person is in front which is exactly what we said we were going to focus on in our warm up. Everyone said one thing they want to focus on themselves for the game and also one thing we want to do as a team in the game and we got through it. We achieved the goals we set for the game and cked them off. I am very proud of the outstanding efforts in last week’s game and the girls should be proud of themselves too. Best players went to Mia Sphere (Maccas) and Addison Smith (Hungry Jack's). Well done girls. 13 & Under: With the weather being perfect for netball we came up against a strong Hatherleigh team. Bella had another good game at GA shoo ng with great accuracy. Isla is improving week a er week and our li lest on the team Lily is always keen to play any posi on and gives it her all. Ma lda got some great intercepts in defence and Layla showing her diversity playing both ends. Once again our passes let us down and we must s ck to our lanes. Awards: Lily (Bakers Delight) and Isla (Dominoes). 15 & Under: Bridie (Maccas) and Sophie Lewis (Donut King). We had a slow start to the game but finished strong. Well done girls on playing the best last quarter we have played all season. 17 & Under: It was already going to be a tough game. But going into the game 2 players short did not help. You all did extremely well considering. The Hatherleigh transi on was too fast and smooth for us last week. Hopefully, we have taken some me to reflect on the game for when we meet them again in round 2. Well done girls. Imogen Jacob and Mackenzie Millard were
awarded best players. B Reserve: We had a great start to the game but we let ourselves down in the second quarter. Much to our credit we fought back and never gave up and ended up with a draw. Great running all day by Brides and Ashton played well at WD. Let’s come out stronger this week. Best players: Taylor Made - Lauren Lewis and Ashton Jones. B Grade: Best players - Mckenzie Millard (Athletes Foot) and Abby Nellthrop (Taylor Made). A strong game with a great centre court defence and strong passes from the Bay girls kept the score close through most of the game. Both teams fought hard for the ball. A few mely goals but Hatherleigh in the 3rd quarter helped create a small lead that they were able to maintain. Mackenzie Millard and Tash were strong in defence making Hatherleigh goalies work for every goal. Kelly and Candice worked well in goals but need to trust themselves more. Overall a strong, hard fought game that was closer than the score showed. A Reserve: We played Hatherleigh, although we were winning all game we let Hatherleigh get a run in the last quarter. Our defence worked relessly all game but unfortunately our silly errors lost us the opportunity to score on the turnovers. We had some great passages of play but unfortunately unable to recognise when teams get a run on and how to break that. Best - Belinda O'Dine and Holly Smith. A Grade: A great effort girls, we didn't get the win but we s ll had some great passages of play. A few minor errors that Hatherleigh capitalised on let us down. Morgan Amy worked relessly for the whole game ge ng her hands to plenty of balls and rebounds. Michelle Moore staying posi ve and ran the game out in C to what was a hot day in the Bay! Bad luck but s ll a good game to keep your heads high. Best players were Morgan Amy (South Aussie Hotel) and Michelle Moore (Bakers Delight and She's Apples). The Port Mac Netball Club Commi ee would like to thank all our volunteers. Without your help and me, we would not be able to run our club. All our coaches, umpires and parents, we thank you. Please show respect to our volunteers as they are giving up their own me to help our club be successful in years to come. We have quite a few injuries that have happened in the past weeks. Sal Morgan, Sarah Lomas, Emilie Stevens get well soon, and we can't wait to see you back on the court ladies. We would also like to thank all our sponsors! We really appreciate your support to our club. To our players and families please support our sponsors in the future!

Junior 2: An excellent team effort by the J2 girls! Every player down the court was playing their role and the encouragement and teamwork was fantas c to see. Myla was reless in defence and didn't allow any easy passes into her opponent. Hazel and Paige were a formidable combina on in the centre, running into space and controlling the ball down the court. Maggie was making strong leads out in front and finished the game with some great goals at shooter. Violet con nues to grow in confidence using ming and speed to make clear leads. Kirby showed leadership in goals, passing off to younger players and working the ball closer to the goal ring for an easy shot. Mollie was again using her reach to pick off so many balls in the air and in WA was driving hard onto the circle. It was great to see our hard work at training pay off with such a freeflowing game! Hatherleigh Ladies Commi ee award: Paige; Macca's award: Maggie. Junior 1: Another great game from our li le superstars. The growth that each and every one of these li le ladies has shown over the last few weeks is admirable. We only had a small sec on of 1 quarter where we crowded a li le and forgot to do our dodges and find space but quickly reset from this for a great flowing game. The defensive pressure to keep the ball down our a acking end was great to see. Again Luca, Scarle and Olivia Beggs all had their eyes up and got plenty of intercepts. Grace, Sienna, Alirah and Livvi all worked hard to find space and kept moving to be able to reoffer for the ball. Well done girls and keep up the good work. Thank you to Mel and Anne for helping on the sidelines again and to Paige and Hazel for si ng bench. Toy Kingdom award: Alirah Bowman and Livvi Faulkner; Java Café award: Olivia Beggs. 13 & Under: A strong defensive effort over four quarters brought numerous turnovers and allowed our a ack line plenty of scoring opportuni es. We ran out winners 31-13, the win was set up in the first half when the goalies finished off smooth transi on with some accurate shoo ng. It was pleasing to see the mid-court feeding the ball from the circle edge as we had prac sed. The second half was somewhat scrappy as players became red and the skill level dropped. Hatherleigh Ladies Commi ee awards: Sylvie Barlow and Olivia Bellinger. 17 & Under: 26-58. A well-deserved win girls! U lising our fitness and drive down the court we were able to create numerous turnovers, resul ng in a comfortable final score line. Dakota and Lacey once again moved extremely well in the circle, pu ng up a shot for goal at every opportunity. Demi fed the ball into the circle without any hesita on, with impeccable ming while also grasping numerous intercepts. Jasmyne ran hard through the mid-court, making her presence known with speed and consistency. Lara and Elly made it difficult for the opposing goalies to set up play for a shot while also grasping every rebound they could get their hands to. Emma was chucked around in just about every posi on on the court and gave 100% no ma er what posi on. A
special thank you to Bella Poulish for filling in and doing an excellent job in goals and an addi onal thank you to Indi Howell for also si ng bench. Very good game girls! Gino's pizza award: Demi Jones; Hatherleigh Ladies Commi ee award: Emma Lang. B Reserve: It was a game of rebuilding team morale and that's exactly what we did, it easy to get disheartened and be hard on ourselves and one another. We all re-grouped, showed support, encouragement and posi vity. Changes were made and as a team we all stood united with those changes. Pt Mac made us work hard all game, every single one of you played a pivotal role towards the final score. Thank you to Bella Poulish who stepped into GA with ease and Jaz Bellinger for si ng bench. The calibre of juniors coming through our grades is exci ng. Looking forward to having Karen and Staci back this week. Somerset Hotel award: Sally; Chemist King award: Indi; HSRC award: Bella Poulish. B Grade: It was a ght tussle to start with but we stepped it up and took control. Super proud to see us play our own game with lots of loud chat coming from the opposi on, we didn't let it get to us and we rose even higher to the challenge. Everyone played their role and the court pressure was much be er. We need to keep this intensity and our court structure each week and the wins will keep coming. Thanks to Fee Jackman for helping out with primary carer. Somerset award: Ellie Cook; Heaven on a Hanger: Georgia Gray; Kelsey Wight Fitness: Nic Thomas; HSRC award: Nat Chambers. A Reserve: A must win game for us against Port Mac, both teams figh ng for a top four posi on. The game began goal for goal with defenders Lucy and Marnie having to work hard to block Port Mac's quick drive into the goal ring. Paris and Eliza were working the triangles well to find space away from their tall opponents. At half me Hatherleigh were 1 goal down and Abby and Demi came into play with fresh legs. Melissa and Helen worked consistently down the court as the physicality of the game increased and we really had to fight for possession. Marnie and Demi got the turnovers we needed in defence to start our comeback in the last quarter. Eliza and Abby were pa ent and accurate in goals, and a determined team effort saw us get ahead. Port Mac made a last change but we hung on to get over the line by 6. Alternate Life award: Eliza Mewe ; Igni on Fitness award: Marnie Smith. A Grade: Not a pre y game but a wins a win. Tegan had a consistent 4 quarters and Maddie R had a ripper game at GD. Once again our defence was solid all game and created mega opportuni es which we need to start rewarding the effort. It was good to see everyone respond in the last quarter in par cular Maddie P who has now saved her best ll the last two weeks in a row. A couple of rough weeks coming up so we need to amp our game up to the next level! Thanks to Dakota and Elly for si ng bench. HSRC award: Tegan; Somerset award: Maddie R.
The Mount Burr Netball Club is proud to have Igni on Fitness and KimberlyClark Australia (KCA) as major sponsors for the 2021 season. Thanks to Peter and Jordan Muhovics for collec ng the firewood and congratula ons to Ella Fal ng for winning the gate raffle. Junior 2: Well done girls, another great effort. Passing down the court is improving. It was great to hear some voices on court and calling for the ball. We s ll need to work on coming front to receive the ball. Some great intercepts in defence and of course you are all going great in goals, we just need to play front and not try pass over the tall girls. Award: Sportspower drink bo le - Mia G. Junior 1: Another fantas c effort from all players. It is great to see each of you pu ng into ac on some of the key skills we have been working on. We're showing some great improvements in our a acking line, with just a few things to improve. Defensively, all players we throw in there take it in their stride and score some great intercepts. Award went to Sabine (Sportspower drink bo le). Sabine worked hard for the ball all game and always showed her posi ve a tude. Such an amazing bunch of girls to work with, you should all be so proud of your efforts so far this season. 13 & Under: Bad luck girls. If you work hard at training, you will see all that hard work pay off on game day. Thanks to Alan for scoring and Julie for ming. Also a huge thanks to Lisa for umpiring at the last minute. It's fantas c to see our dad's suppor ng us in taking on the scoring roles week a er week. 15 & Under: Well done girls, a great win with different combina ons. It is great to see how versa le our team has become. All goalies shot well working great together all game and chasing rebounds. Our a ack line was strong with fantas c feeding into the circle. Good defence across the whole court which created many turnovers. Girls, we s ll need to work on using our voices and encouraging each other, this will be the making of our team. Awards went to Oliviah B (Fasta Pasta) and Olivia H (Andy's Bakery). 17 & Under: A strong start to the game and one where we gained confidence with some different combina ons early in the first half which allowed us to convert many turnovers on the scoreboard. Our defensive pressure across the en re court was great and resulted in many unforced errors and intercepts early in Nangwarry's transi ons. It is great to see how flexible we are as a team, and how willing we all are to adapt to new posi ons. Thanks to Mandy for umpiring, Karen for scoring, and Luke for being mer. Awards went to Jarrah Altschwager (Millicent Chemist) and Mackenzie Job (Andy's Bakery) who both played in new posi ons and gave 100% effort throughout the whole game.
B Reserve: Well done girls. What a great team game. It was great to see everyone pu ng pressure on the ball all over the court and crea ng many turnovers. Brianna and Bec combining well in defence and kept turning the ball over, tough rebounding once again. Strong driving down the court by Mia and Jazmin coming out of defence, crea ng space and strong passing into the a ack. Great shoo ng by Amy, Tess and Karen and our movement in the circle and working together is looking solid. Hannah was aggressive to the ball at centre passes and drove well to the circle and fed our goalies with some fantas c passing. Great to see we played 4 quarters of great team netball. Thanks to Dawn for umpiring, and once again a dad scoring for us Bre , and Larissa for ming. Awards went to Karen (Sassi Gi Home Living) and Bec (Cafe Melzar). B Grade: Well done on our first win. It was great to see our team come together and get a win. Our ball movement was much more direct and effec ve. We will con nue to work on coming front to the ball and using the circle to our advantage. I was so impressed with our defensive effort across the whole court. Great effort ladies. Mt Burr 48 def Nangwarry 44. Awards went to Zali Burns (Sassi) and Madi Bowering (Enchanted Beauty). A Reserve: Well done girls on another win last week. We are showing great strength throughout all thirds of the court and transi oning the ball down court well. Our defensive pressure on court is giving us more opportuni es to effec vely convert those turnovers on the scoreboard and come away with the wins. Let's keep up this intensity girls. A Grade: A perfect day for netball and the girls didn't disappoint. Madi played 4 consistent quarters stepping up to be the senior in the defensive circle with McKenzie who played her first full game of senior netball. Madi, McKenzie and Ann all pull in some mely intercepts. Heidi and Laura had some great passages of play and transi on down court providing plenty of op ons in a ack. Ebony and Sarah combined well in the circle and shot with accuracy. Thanks to Lisa for umpiring, Heidi for scoring, and Alan for ming. Awards went to Madi Hagge (Carapace) and Laura Schultz (Since Fi y Six). Congratula ons to the following people who will be represen ng the Mount Burr Netball Club and Mid South East Netball Associa on at the Country Championships in Adelaide over the June long weekend. Tamara Hagge as Senior team bench coach/team manager, Heidi Clark, Madi Hagge and Sarah Nulty as senior team players, Imogen Nowak as the 15 and Under player reserve, Leah Puia 13 and Under coach, and Sara Smith and Tilly Gamble as 13 and Under players.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Great game everyone. Our passing was so much be er. We are star ng to pass quickly to each other. We are spreading out more and s cking to our players well. Great defence from everyone. We all got lots of hands to the ball. Only thing we really need to remember is to keep running to the ball, do not stop and wait. But you girls are doing so well keep it up. Pines Hotel awards went to Hanna for her awesome defence work, starring on her birthday. McDonalds to Zoe for s cking to her player and ge ng great rebounds even with a sore hand. Good job everyone. Junior 1: Tough game girls playing against a taller, older side. Which made it hard for us to get in front of our players and bring the ball down the court. Once again with 2 players away we had Asha fill in thank you very much and Keelie si ng bench. Awards: Fasta Pasta - Lucy, McDonald's - Paige, Hungry Jacks - Immy. 13 & Under: Thought I was proud last week you all have amazed me again. This me outscoring Mt Burr 16 to 6 in the last quarter to turn around being down by six goals to a four-goal win. What a quarter. Wish we could have played like this for the whole game but if can win the game doing one, we will take it. In the last quarter we cut and drove, played full court defence, see the difference this makes. Great effort all to now be third on the ladder. Future is bright at Nangwarry with this great bunch of players coming through the ranks. Awards: Canteen - Madison Timms and Hungry Jacks - Kaylee McNair. 15 & Under: Another great game again girls! Although our first quarter was slow, we really picked up and gave it our best in the last half. We reached all our goals for the game and I could not be happier. Great game girls! Congratula ons to Tanisha McNair, you did everything I asked for and to Amelia Willis trying out centre for the first me and did an amazing job. Well done girls. 17 & Under: Last week was a tough game for us and we were down a defender. We used this as a opportunity to try some players in new posi ons. The girls adapted to this very well. We started to use our voices during the game which was good to see, allowing us to play many good passages of netball. Thank you again to the under 15's that filled in for us, we really appreciate it. It
NETball club notes was really good to see the girls want the ball and have some fight about them chasing up many loose balls and backing up there teammates. It was good to see them start playing as a team and encouraging each other. Best players: Pines Hotel - Lilly McKinnon, Penola Recycling Molly Jones, Hungry Jacks - Mia Timms. B Reserve: It was evident that we have endured disrup on to our team last week with ins and outs but unfortunately Mount Burr were too good for us. We had opportuni es that we let slip through our hands with poor passing, not taking the easy op on and errors down the court. It was great to see Amy star ng to find her feet, and there were huge posi ves with Teagan and Amy in defence. We really need to work on our passing girls because this is what is le ng us down week-in week-out. Bests were Teagan and Amy. B Grade: So close girls, we could almost taste the victory, but it just was not meant to be. Our last quarter was by far our best when we started our comeback (9 goals). Do not be too hard on yourself and let's learn from our mistakes and come out stronger next me. We wish Ellie all the best as she recovers from a broken wrist! Best players Meighan and Tamara. A Reserve: Much be er game last week girls, we really worked hard and worked the ball around more and were more pa ent. Defence played well all game. Welcome back Bri , ge ng many touches and driving well out of defence. It's only the li le things we s ll need to work on and ming. Fasta Pasta award went to Chrystal for awesome defence game and transi oning well into defence great work. Let's keep pushing and working on those things and another will be here soon. A Grade: Another great start girls. We worked hard to get the ball down and do it well, but just let ourselves down with some minor errors. We s ll played well and even with some changes adjusted well to that. When we are pa ent and wait for the leads and steady our game we do well. If we can get that for 4 quarters, we will be close to most teams. Defence had a great day ge ng many turnovers and rebounds. Let's keep our heads up. It was a great game. Hayley V the Athlete's Foot award.
Junior 2: Was another hard game against some older girls. We kept trying though which was amazing so you all should be very proud. Most important is to get in front and watch our passing. Strong short passes and catch with strong hands which we will keep working on at training. Awards went to Polly (Maccas) for always listening and ge ng under that ring and to Lidia (Hungry Jacks) for never giving up. Well done girls! Junior 1: Each week I see fantas c combina ons emerging in our team and it is clear that everyone is working really hard. It is wonderful to see you all building on your skills week a er week and gaining confidence along with a be er understanding of the posi ons on court. Con nue working together, being suppor ve and posi ve and our skills will con nue to improve whilst we are having fun! Encouragement awards were received by Renae Damhuis and Apsara Wright. 13 & Under: Girls I am so proud of how hard you all worked and your achievements this game. The score definitely didn't reflect how much you put into your posi ons. You all gave your all and played your game and that's all we ask for. A acking was great as we led for the ball and talked on the court to help others. We really focused on what we learnt at training, steadying before we passed and dodging to get in front of our player. Defence was strong also, ge ng our hands to lots of li le intercepts, just have to slow it down when we get the ball and make sure we are doing proper passes. Great game girls! Ebony Gardin, Alexis Hoffmann and Summah Brown were awarded the vouchers. 15 & Under: Third tough game in a row for us and with the slippery courts both teams had to slow it down. Some great intercep ons all over court but unfortunately our passing let us down and we just threw it away instead of ge ng it down to our goalies. Molly and Holly played a nice ght defence and made Burr work to get their goals so well done girls. Enjoy the break and come out strong against Nangwarry. McDonalds Award: Molly Cushion and Shanks Encouragement Award Holly
Walker. 17 & Under: Really proud of all our girls. We came out strong and worked Jade into the game. We s ll struggle to play a whole strong 4 quarters as we dropped in the last half and let them get the lead. Our defenders worked relessly all game crea ng lots of turnovers however we can't seem to convert them down the court. We need to keep playing our game, winning our posi ons and not let our opponents get in our heads. We all have the skills and capabili es to win each posi on. The Chelsea Feast award went to Ella as she worked hard even though a lot didn't go her way. Tayla Rowe received the Fasta Pasta award for having a posi ve a tude throughout the game and second efforts. B Reserve: It was a tough game but we just managed to come away with the win. A strong first half and some great passages of play by our a ackers saw us take a nice lead over the game. Coming back on in the second half we were flat across the court, combined with lots of silly errors we let Mt Burr sneak the score back even. We kept figh ng ll the last whistle and got the win by 1. Best players went to our defenders Kim Ballintyne and Darcy Egan who worked hard all game, never le ng up. Great work girls. B Grade: A great win as we head into our bye. There was some impressive movement down the court which was finished off beau fully by the goalies. It is great to see that any changes we made didn't change our game much which is a sign of our versa lity that will ul mately help us for the rest of the season. Keep training hard, work together as a team and hopefully we can reverse a couple of our results next round. A Grade: Excellent job girls! It was so good to see everyone work so hard for a full 60 minutes. Kate, Tayla and Alex, your defence was amazing and are really applying what we are working on at training. It was a hard day in a ack but Vic, Casey, Jami and Em all adapted to their style and it was great to watch. Let's keep working hard so that we play consistently and keep ge ng those wins. Awards went to Kate Bromley and Alex Lucas.
ROUND 7 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW PORT MACDONNELL v HATHERLEIGH A great tough hit out at the Bay with Hatherleigh coming away with the win. The Bay started off well with a 1st quarter score of 8 to Hatherleigh 10. It was a hot day but that didn't stop Michelle Moore from working hard through the C against a tough opponent Sarah Faulkner. Hatherleigh li ed in the 2nd quarter ge ng a lead of 10 goals at half me. Maddie Redman got her hands to many balls and plenty of strong rebounds. Port Mac came back in the 3rd quarter but it wasn't quite enough. Young Lucie Whitworth was s cking ght to Tegan Merre . A solid last quarter for Hatherleigh, 17 to Port Mac 6. Morgan Amy for the Bay ge ng plenty of touches and turnovers. Hatherleigh took the win but not without a fight from the Bay. KALANGADOO v ROBE In sunny condi ons, Robe started the match strong with the defensive combina on of Alanna Campbell and Georgia Perkins causing some early turnovers. Mikaila Pi u lised her height advantage over Robe's Asha Pe t and created some scoring opportuni es for Kalangadoo with Abbey Duncan making the most of these down the other end, scoring 12 goals for the quarter pu ng Kalangadoo ahead by 6 at quarter me. Both teams remained unchanged during the second quarter with much of the quarter going goal for goal with Keryn Moore running hard for Robe, feeding her goalies Kimberley Aus n and Sarah Laurie accurately. Perkins and Kalangadoo's Kori Collins had a ght contest with Perkins making Collins earn every possession. Kalangadoo went into the main break with an 8 goal lead. Robe brought Halle Cater into goal a ack and moved Sarah Laurie into goal shooter for the third quarter with Kalangadoo also making some changes switching the defensive combina on of Miakaila Pi and Chelsea Croser. Jessica Carter replaced Moore into centre for Robe for the final quarter as Kalangadoo
stepped up their defence which forced some wayward passing by Robe, making it hard for the Robe goalies to get many opportuni es, scoring just four goals for the quarter. Kalangadoo finished the game strong defea ng Robe 54 goals to 28. Best players - Robe: Asha Pe t and Sarah Laurie; Kalangadoo: Abbey Duncan and Mikaila Pi . GLENCOE v KONGORONG Glencoe started with another new line up with Caitlin Hentschke s ll on the sidelines with a calf injury. This saw Glencoe give another one of their juniors, Jorja Mitchell a go in the senior ranks, and she surely didn't disappoint. Mitchell and Emily Thompson combined well in the goal circle and were well supported by Ashlea Edwards and Donna Jaeschke. Thompson struggled with accuracy early on and Kongorong's Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody contested well for the rebounds. Meanwhile at the other end of the court Glencoe's Sarah Edwards and Bec Edwards played the space well and made it hard for Kongorong's Sam Fox and Sarah Beare to have any clear op ons. When Kongorong were able to get the ball to the post, Emalee Stokker and Ella McIntyre shot well, only missing one for three for the first half. Glencoe went into the main break with a 17 goal lead. Both teams made changes at half me with both teams changing their centre in the warm condi ons. Kongorong's Stokker came out to GA to try and create some more drive for the Hawks through the middle, her posi ve talk on court li ed the team and they started with the first 3 goals for the quarter. Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen read the ball well as it came into the centre third and took many mely intercep ons. Glencoe went into the last 21 goals up. Kongorong again made several changes going into the last, with Fox going back to the wing and Ella Buckingham in the centre, unfortunately these changes didn't work to their advantage. Jaeschke had a great game in centre against all her opponents, and
created lots of turnovers for her team, which allowed Emily Thompson to score 17 in the last. Glencoe finished with the points 65-26. MOUNT BURR v NANGWARRY The first quarter started evenly going goal for goal, then Mt Burr started crea ng turnovers all over the court and Mt Burr GS Ebony Clark finishing off well for her side. Score Mt Burr 18 to Nangwarry 12. The second quarter saw no changes for both sides. Mt Burr came out firing right from the first centre pass, with Mt Burr C Heidi Clark and WD Ann Guye pu ng pressure on every pass and taking numerous intercepts before the ball entered Nangwarry's goal third. Mt Burr GA Sara Nulty also worked hard in turning the ball with great defence and became the main focus in Mt Burr's circle and shoo ng strongly. The new combina on in defence for Mt Burr, GD Madi Hagge and GK Mackenzie Bevan, were combining well and limi ng Nangwarry goalies’ opportuni es to score. Mt Burr dominated this quarter with 21 to 7. Score Mt Burr 29 to Nangwarry 19. The third quarter also saw no changes for Mt Burr. Nangwarry’s Crystal Lock came off the bench into WD, Taysha James came off at WD, Hayley Burner went from C to WA, and Ebony Lawson WA to C. Mt Burr again started the 3rd quarter strong and picking up any loose ball Nangwarry created and Mt Burr Laura Schultz at WA was driving hard to the ball and posi oning well on the circle and feeding Nulty and Clarke with strong passing. Mt Burr again dominated in the circle with Nulty and Ebony Clark combining well and shoo ng at a high percentage. The score again for the quarter was in favour for Mt Burr 21 to 11. Score Mt Burr 60 to Nangwarry 30. In the fourth quarter, there were no changes for Mt Burr. Nangwarry changed their goalies Cassie Dinnison from GS to GA and Anglea Pra from GA to GS. Nangwarry WA Hayley Burner was an op on, driving well to the circle and fed her goalies well. Strong rebounding from Mt Burr's defence helped Mt Burr to come away with a convincing win. Final score Mt Burr 80 to Nangwarry 39.
