Reserves: Last week we played away at Mt Burr. We had lots of players out, and a er a slow start in the first half we started to play team football and came away with the win by 78 points. Great effort by the boys. Best for the week were Brandon Soussa, Simon Ferguson, Kane Cross, Elroy Samuel. Looking forward to playing Nangwarry at home this week. A Grade: Last week we trekked down to Mt Burr for a huge contest. The weather looked ominous, and the rain would come down later in the game. Both teams struggled to handle the footy cleanly which made for a scrappy game. With a few key players out for Robe, it was up to others to step up in their place. Both teams came out firing in the first half while the weather was clear. Jack Kelly was dangerous up forward for us and had several 1 on 1 contests and kicked 4 goals for the day. Hamish
Smith at the other end took mul ple strong contested marks and gave the Burr a 4goal lead at half me. The weather started to worsen in the second half, and it was a huge task for our boys. We had plenty of footy around the contest but rushed kicks forward which the Wallis brothers used to rebound off half back. Robe midfielders, Jordan Hentschke and Kane Dunn were everywhere hustled the ball forward at every opportunity they got. Mt Burr started to take control in the last half and were much cleaner with the wet football resul ng in mul ple goals scored. Mt Burr came away with a 61-point win. With a few ins back this week we will get back to playing our quick and tough brand of footy. This week we take on Nangwarry at home and will look to get back on the winners list to finish off the round before heading into a 2-week break.

A beau ful Saturday at home again, congratula ons to the B Grade on their big win. A special shout out to Adam Price from Glencoe for organising some players for Junior Colts late Friday. Congratula ons to Josh Clayfield on his 200 games. Josh has given a lot to the club over the last few years and we hope he is enjoying this season. The commi ee would like to acknowledge all our volunteers and thank them for the support. Whether you're a coach, team manager, trainer/first aider, me keeper, goal umpire, work in the canteen, BBQ or bar, umpire or any other role - YOU are a vital part of our game and we say thank you for your tremendous contribu on. This week's sponsors are GT Industrial Sales and Gildera Forestry. We thank you for your ongoing support. Junior Colts: It was our turn last week to be hit by the Covid bug with 5 players unavailable from our previous side. A few phone calls and a lot of texts and there was a game able to be played. A huge thanks must firstly go to Adam Price from the Glencoe Football Club as he organised 4 players to help out and play for Mt Burr and ourselves. These kind of gestures are what make our league the best in the region. In what was a great contest our young Saints went down by 3 goals but didn't give up all game and once again linked up well to move the ball from defence to a ack. Big thanks to Harley and McKayla from Glencoe who played great games. Best players were Benne , Calais, Josh, Wya , Harvey and McKayla. Encouragement awards went to Jordan Edwards and Harley. A week off for the bye and then the journey down to Robe to face the Roosters.

Senior Colts: First of all I want to thank Tim from Mount Burr in giving us 4 players every quarter so a game could occur. With guys having Covid and injuries from last week it turned out to be quite a struggle for us. The struggle certainly becomes harder when we have guys not willing to have a crack. I know it's hard work guys but you have to want to make changes to the way you play if you want to improve. Our junior colt players seem to lead the way most weeks and it's me our older guys stood up! Best players were Taj Bell, Benne Moy, Peter Joseph, Riley Edwards, Hayden Stewart and Wya Balshaw. B Grade: What a fantas c four quarters of football the boys played. It was good to get back a few boys from the A Grade for our game, and didn't the Thompson boys put on a show. Congratula ons to captain Josh on his 200 games. Hope everyone has a rest this week and are fired up for the Robe game. This is a must win to keep us in the top four. Best: Donny, Sco , Rowe, Chappo, Ma T, Marcas T, Jarrad. Goals: Ma 3, Jay 2, Jordan 2, Josh 1, Vesa 1, Chappo 1, Marcas 1, Sco 1, Donny 1. A big welcome back to Jay. Cheers A Grade: Our boys didn't show up to play and the game was a tale of two halves for us. Our first half was probably the worst first half we've had this year and the Burr boys made us pay for it, playing some fast clean footy. We came out in the second half and lost the half by 23 points which is a good sign as years past we would've go en blown out by 100+. The bye has come at a good me as we can get our bodies right, we move on to Robe for our next game which will be a good test. Congratula ons on Josh Clayfield who played his 200th game!

Thanks to Kalangadoo Football and Netball Club for hos ng the Tim Brennan Indigenous Round and for the pre-game ceremony last weekend, it was great to see our young lads ge ng into it and it was special to watch and be a part of. Our next event will be Christmas in July so stay tuned for those details soon. Under 11: A cold foggy morning greeted us at Kalangadoo. Once the kids woke up and thawed out they really got into the game. They are really developing their team work with some great shepherds and handballs to runners out of the backline which I really enjoy seeing. They are realising they can help the team without touching the footy. Awards went to Zac for his shepherds and tackling, Bill for great run off the backline and voice, Harry great taps in ruck, Xavier Yates ge ng in bo om of packs, and Xavier Hales for his willingness to tackle. Keep up good work. Junior Colts: Our boys headed to Kalangadoo last week and put in an awesome all round team effort. Everything we have been prac cing clicked and if we con nue to play that way hopefully we can pinch a few more wins for the rest of the season. I was extremely proud of how all the boys played and a special men on has to go to our one and only female player Summer Batchelor who not only rucked all day but won a majority of the hit outs and was awesome around the ground, even popped up for her first goal in Junior Colts and snagged another later. Well done - keep an eye on this girl, she will go far. Unlucky for her Kaden Bell played a blinder to pinch first best with Summer a close second, rounding out the rest of the best players were Eli, Evan, Josh and

Chad. Well done boys. Let's keep taking steps forward as a team and s ck together. Senior Colts: G'day guys and girls, always great to head over to K'doo and say hello to the farmers. We had a slow start and played from behind but a quick reminder at quarter me to play with confidence and control the ball started to change the way the game was being played. Really star ng to see some great improvement by all players in skill and also mind set. Well done lads and thanks to all that help out to make the day happen. Be er players for the game were Ryan and Sam Simmons, Captain Cushion, young Rowey and Ash Foulds with 3 majors. Reserves: Walked into a big challenge against top of the ladder Kalangadoo. Went down with a loss but it wasn't without a hard slog from us making them earn every point. Best player went to Chris McCallum for his great work down the backline, stopping a lot of goals. The other best players were Aaron Trowbridge, Jake Bromley, Ma Sporer, Brad Williams and Zac Walker. A Grade: G'day everyone. Last week we made our way down to Kalangadoo for the Tim Brennan Indigenous Round. To Kalangadoo's credit they put on a great pregame show to showcase their indigenous pride to commemorate their ancestors. For the footy side of the day the Doo came out raring from the get go as we took too long to focus and get into the game. As the game went on we showed more and more good looks of footy but our good looks were out shown by a well drilled and talented Doo side. Not the kind of score we want to represent the club as a team but we now have to move on, work on our game, keep moving forward and focus on Mount Burr at home this week. www.tantanoolafootballclub. spor ngpulse.net Find us on Facebook: Tantanoola Football and Netball Club

Junior Colts: Unfortunately due to work commitments I couldn’t be there Saturday, but from all accounts it was a great team game and the whole team li ed and brought each other into the game and li ed each other. A massive shout out to the South Gambier Football Club for bringing down some players to help make up numbers. Also to Robe for lending players on the day. South have the same morals to the game as us and that is to just get kids out playing footy and having fun which is great to see it doesn’t ma er what league or club you play for it’s just the fact that kids get out on the park. To our boys well done and we’ll keep moving forward and keep trying to notch in some wins. Thanks to all the volunteers who help out each week, also to Frazer for coaching for me, many hands make light work and gets the kids out there to have a game. Thanks again everyone. Cheers Tom Senior Colts: Last weekend we took on an undefeated Robe side and the boys ran it up to them all game going down by a narrow margin. In a great team effort best players were Kallan Bevan back from Glenelg led from the front all game se ng up and kicking many goals, Deklan Brant up from Junior Colts was solid all game in defence, Calum Sparkes gave the team a great advantage in the ruck and covers plenty of ground all game, Brock Sandow gets the best forward most weeks and is rarely beaten because of his a ack on the ball and Lucas Montuori made the most of his opportuni es and doesn’t mind ge ng his hands dirty. Big game this weekend against Tantanoola and another opportunity for us to improve. B Grade: Last Saturday we put up a much be er performance against a strong Robe ou it. Our defensive effort in the first half was very solid and we did well to

hold Robe to 4 goals. However, we need to turn defence into a ack more o en and hit the scoreboard more ourselves. A er a disappoin ng third quarter, we shuffled the magnets around and took away lots of posi ves from the last quarter. Thanks again to the Senior Colts boys who filled in for us, especially Liam Johnson and Ryan Long who made their senior football debuts. Special men on must go to our most senior player, Mark Teagle, whose courageous effort ending up with him in hospital with a suspected broken nose. Best players on the day were Je Bowering, Braeden Thwaites, Noah Telfer, George Wimshurst, Jayden Poulish and Frazer Johnson. A Grade: What a day to be playing back at home on Hendo’s manicured deck! All the rain that hit Mt Gambier and surrounds seemed to have nearly missed Mt Burr completely, with the slight drizzle and fresh air all that was on the radar. God’s country indeed! On the field it was pleasing to see us really put in 4 quarters of effort and get the reward. Great to see everyone clicking and our younger guys building on their good form to date. A real team effort Saturday with some great individual performances highlighted in our best players. Horse wound the clock back and played like he was only 32. Rooster used his legs and composure to con nually set us up. Kal was great to have back and his goal from outside 50 was something I only wish I could do! Brodz is consistently playing great football and has his hand on most balls going forward. Tay Allen played like a wombat and burrowed into everything. Ridz had class and silk oozing out of his you-know-what. On to Tant this week at Tant, another big test for us that we’re looking forward to. Go Burr!

A Grade: We travelled down to Port Mac last weekend and were greeted with tough winter condi ons. Port Mac came out hard with a real physical style of football and put us under the pump straight away. Unfortunately we didn't adjust to the condi ons too well and to Port Mac’s credit they played the wet condi ons really well. End result was a 7 goal loss. Best players on the day were Mark Marrio , Joe Rayson, Sam Gray, Lewis Walker, Will Chay and Mikey Telford. We have a huge home game against top of the table Kalangadoo this weekend. Go Eagles! B Grade: We made the trip down to the bay on Saturday in very chilly winter condi ons, fairly undermanned with 5 boys pulling out on Friday, 3 colts stepping up and playing their roles very well. We hit the ground running kicking 10.2 in an explosive first quarter of good team football and it carried on throughout the game. Ethan Bowman would have a sore foot a er his BOG performance kicking 7 snags out of the pivot, Sauce Brown had a day out all over the ground also kicking 7 to claim 2nd. Jack Kain had a good game playing a different role at CHB and through the ruck to claim 3rd. The coach made a strong comeback a er 6 weeks on the sidelines to take out 4th. James Telford had another good day up forward snagging 5 goals and took out 5th best. Big week on the track to prepare for the big test against Kalangadoo this week. The boys are itching for this game. Senior Colts: Round 8 came around and we headed down to the bay on what looked to be a wet and windy day. We started off the game well kicking the first few goals into the wind, the boys were playing good footy using their skill to slowly chip away through the wind. The second quarter rolled around we had the wind behind us. I thought from watching that
we probably tried to go a li le bit too quick and kicked 4 points before we got another goal on the board. All posi ves though to take away from the quarter and we went on to sharpen up for the next two quarters keeping on top of the bay boys and having a successful day winning by 14 goals. The best player for the day was Ethan Leopold. Probably one of the best games we have seen him play taking a heap of contested intercept marks around the ground and being on top of his man in the ruck. Second was Eli Kneen, who held down the back line. Our back 6 was a big part of our win stopping anything that came in. Blake Werchon and Aus n Ne le used their skill and composure to help us in the midfield throughout the day. Miles Widdison and Je Faulkner provided a ton of run and most importantly carry off of the half back helping us to force the ball into our forward line. This week we take on the Magpies back at the nest. Junior Colts: Back on the winners list last week a er a tough loss against Kongorong the week before. We focused on star ng the game well, the team took the feedback on board and started the game really well. The team played really well across all 4 quarters with plenty of scoring opportuni es, finishing the game 4 goals 13. Maybe some goal kicking prac ce this week at training. Hudson Nowak had a solid game at centre half back rebounding the ball well with good skills in wet condi ons, Chloe Bellinger con nues her great form ge ng plenty of the ball, Oskar Howell was versa le playing up forward kicking a couple of goals and went down back when needed, Ethan Marshall had another solid game in the midfield ge ng plenty of the ball and Coop Walters had a good game a acking the footy and ge ng in to good posi ons over the ground.

Round 13 saw us host Tantanoola our indigenous players, supporters and members, but it in arguably the worst condi ons in represents our culture and the a couple of years. Heavy rain closeness of the Kalangadoo throughout the week made for a family. Last week saw us travel over to Kongorong in what turned out to be the we est day of the year. The rain held out un l around 2pm, but then it se led in for the rest of the day and was quite heavy, effec ng condi ons for both sports. We only came out of the day with 1 win, and that was our Reserves, who usually struggle as Kongorong are known to have a strong Reserves side. Junior Colts: The day started different to what it had the previous 7 rounds, with the Junior Colts suffering their first loss of the year. Both sides came into the match undefeated and si ng equal top of the ladder. This was no doubt a prequel to what will occur later in the year. We started the game be er running out to a lead at quarter me, but then seeing that evaporate to be down by 4 goals at the main break. The scores dried up for the rest of the game and it was a defensive ba le with both teams finding it hard to score in the second half. We ended up going down by 24 points in a low scoring game. In their first loss the kids will learn from their mistakes and be be er for it and be ready next me we face Kongorong and hopefully s ll aim to finish top 2 later in the year. Best players were Lachlan Breirley, Tighe Hurley, Hamish Gordon, Connor Tweddle, Samuel Longhurst and Riley Ferguson. Senior Colts: The Senior Colts were very low on numbers last week and missing some key players. We came up against a Kongorong side that is si ng in 3rd place and has been travelling very nicely. We got off to a really bad start and allowed 16 goals to no score in the first half. Thankfully we showed some more fight in the 2nd half and managed to dry up the accumula on of goals a bit and kick one ourselves. Well done to all the lads that played 2 games again and the effort to play out the game without any rota ons. Hopefully this weekend might see us be a bit more compe ve. Best players were Ben Weedon, Digby Richards-Fennell, Lachlan Brierley, Brodie Pfitzner, Kieron Rigney and Kaleb Price. Reserves: The Reserves were our only winners for the day and probably played their best game of team football for the whole year. We had no passengers on the day, and everyone contributed. On Thursday night Parrot was able to select a team that resembled what he envisioned at the start of the season as a few boys came back from injury and absence. With s ll some more to come back it will be great to see some more con nued improvement in the Reserves. A er such a shortage of players and disrupted year to date, we are only 1 win out of the top 4. We played really well from the get-go last week, star ng from our midfielders ge ng on top and running rampant across the ground. Our defenders worked well together and took

plenty of intercept marks. We con nued to play a 4-quarter effort and extended the margin each quarter with no lapses. Best players were Taylor McGrath, Trent Hawke, Shannon Megaw, Lachlan Hoch and Anthony Cary. A Grade: The A Grade le the field with another 'what could have been' performance, playing 2 good quarters and 2 shockers. We may as well have stayed in the rooms at the start of the match as we were non-existent on the field. At one stage it was 1.7.13 to no score and we were lucky that they were kicking so inaccurately as some of their shots were from the goal square. We only went inside 50 four mes in the 1st quarter for 2.1 in return. In response we gave up 12 scoring shots to Kongorong. The 2nd quarter was much be er, and we were well on top going into half me with the confidence that we were going to con nue this play. The 3rd quarter was a bit of an arm wrestle and some missed opportuni es and overuse of the handball let us down. S ll with confidence we thought we would overrun them with our youth and speed, but we did not put our heads over the ball and could not make correct decisions with the ball in the final quarter. They were hungrier than us and adapted to the condi ons a lot be er, while we seemed to try and play as if it was perfectly dry. A bit of a wake-up call for the boys and a strong performance is needed this week before we have the long weekend off and reset for the 2nd half of the year. Best players were Patrick Mitchell, Tom Edwards, Brodie Glynn, Dylan Pfitzner and Andy Gray. Today we welcome Port MacDonnell to our home deck in what will hopefully be 4 winnable games for us. We thank our volunteers who con nue to give up their me in service to the club and the league. Today we congratulate Nathan McEachern (be er known as Parrot or Junior) who will play his 300th game for the Glencoe Football Club. Parrot is our current Reserves coach, but has been a 2 x A-Grade Premiership player, 3 x Reserves Best & Fairest winner, commi ee member and gun small forward. Parrot came across in 2001 when Brad Patzel was coaching, and Parrot was awarded life membership in 2017. Best of luck today and congrats on the huge milestone. Not many people get to achieve 300 games and it couldn't happen to a be er bloke. Tonight, we have our Beer Pong Championships at the club. Hopefully you have all organised your partner and your dress ups. 'Bash Brothers' would be my hot favourite or maybe the 'Megaw Mouth Runners'.

B Grade: A er almost ge ng the first win in the previous week’s game against Tantanoola we welcomed the undefeated Hatherleigh for the round 8 home game. I don't want to sound like a broken record but it has been a tough year for the reserves this year with numbers and unfortunately this has translated into some hard games. Even though the results haven't been there the spirit and the effort certainly has been. All that spirit and effort was called upon a er Hatherleigh kicked 10 goals in the first quarter and then added another 7 in the next but in the last half the boys rallied and slowed the scoring down to only 9 goals for the half which was a fantas c effort. Best for the game was Rory Na rass, Adam Richards, Christopher Driver, Conway Johnson, Daniel Fisher. We head to Glencoe this week for the final game for the first round and the much earnt week off.
A Grade: A er a pleasant start to the day with blue skies and only a gentle breeze blowing across the oval, the heaven's opened up just in me for the A Grade clash against Hatherleigh. It would be an understatement to say this was an important game a er a solid start to the season we faced an undefeated Hatherleigh and another loss makes us exposed to the chasing pack behind us. Right from the start of the game the boys hit the ground running and showed a real want and intent at every contest and in a low scoring ght affair the boys made every post a winner and ended up taking out a very well deserved win to help keep head above water in what is going to be a very tough season.Best for the week was, Kyall McClean, Jake Turner, Tim Sullivan, Alex Ridding, Mark Smith.

Glencoe Netball Club wish to congratulate Donna Jaeschke on her 250 club games this weekend. Donna has been involved with the Glencoe Netball and Football Club since her family first came out to Glencoe when she was a youngster. She played her first compe ve game in the late 90's as part of the Under 13 side and played her first full season of A Grade in 2005. Donna has been an integral part of this team ever since with her strong mid court play and leading from the front. As well as being an amazing asset to both clubs doing so much work behind the scenes, Donna has earnt many accolades during her netball career. At a League level she won U15s Best and Fairest in 2001 and has been named as an A Grade Top 10 player in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2019. At a junior club level she has taken out U13 R/Up Best and Fairest, U15 and U17 Best and Fairest as well as the pres gious Jack Jones Award in 2001 (most junior votes at league level). In her senior career she has collected A Grade R/Up Best and Fairest in 2005 and 2010 and Best and Fairest in 2011. She also won the Muzzy Schultz Award in 2012 for most senior votes at league level. Donna's contribu on to the netball club as a coach has been amazing and started in 2005 when she coached the U15 side. She took on the U17 coaching role in 2011 and 2021 and also coached A Grade from 2012-2016. Not one to shy away from giving a helping hand, she was the Club Secretary from 2011-2016 while also being Budget Notes writer and coaching A Grade for the most part at the same me. In more recent years, Donna has looked a er the sponsorship for both the football and netball clubs and is assis ng Sarah with the A Grade team this year. Donna always goes above and beyond and is very giving of her me, despite the fact she has a young family and is part of local business, DeGaris Lawyers (who are also one of our major sponsors). Thank you so much Donna for your dedica on and me given to the Glencoe Netball Club over the years and congratula ons.

A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW - ROUND 9 ROBE v NANGWARRY Round nine sees Nangwarry head down to Robe to take on the Roosters. Nangwarry's defensive combina on of Carly Ploenges and Hayley Vanderhorst will have to work relessly to put pressure on Robe's goalies, crea ng any possible turnovers. Robe's Tori Gluyas and Sarah Laurie will be using any opportunity to score, a er being fed well by both Lucy Perkins and Annie Hunter around the ring. Kylie Heaver will work hard for the Saints to move the ball down the court and feed with accuracy into her goalies, Ange Pra and Tahlia Wilson. Robe's Ellen Ramke and Emma Grant work well together in the defensive circle and will apply defensive pressure to Nangwarry's goalies. A er the final whistle blows Robe will come away with the points.
TANTANOOLA v MOUNT BURR Tantanoola host Mount Burr this weekend, hoping to come away with another win. Mount Burr's defenders will put on the pressure, with Olivia Dean and Simone Westerman combining with ease, making Tantanoola's goalies earn every possession. Mount Burr's Meg Fennell and Tantanoola's Casey Walker will ba le it out on the wing, both figh ng to gain the ball for their respec ve teams. Emma Gould and Jami Walker's accuracy in the goal circle for the Tigers will be a focal point, figh ng to rebound any missed goals. Mount Burr's altered goalie combina on of Ebony Clark and Madi Hagge worked well last week and will once again be an important part of the Mozzies' a ack line. Tantanoola's Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe will work hard to keep the pressure on in the defensive end and will create turnovers for their side. Both teams have the poten al to come away with the points this week, however, Mount Burr will be looking to stay close to the top four.
HATHERLEIGH v KALANGADOO Hatherleigh will take on the reigning premiers at home this weekend in what will be a tough game. Hatherleigh's defensive combina on of Demi Vanderhorst and Lara MacGregor will have hands to every ball, working over me to put the pressure on the Magpie's goalies. Kalangadoo defenders Lauren Kain and Reanna Wetherall will apply to pressure in Hatherleigh's goal circle, giving their goalies every possible opportunity to score. Maddie Pulmer and Abby Wight will combine well in the goal circle for Hatherleigh, being fed with accuracy by Erin Watson and Tegan Telfer from outside the circle. This game will be close, with Kalangadoo coming away with the win a er a strong ba le.
GLENCOE v PORT MACDONNELL Glencoe will be looking to cement their posi on in the top four this weekend when hos ng the Demons. NETball club notes Junior 2: It was a fresh, cold morning at Mt Burr but this didn't stop the girls from going out there and giving it their all. Another great game played by the girls. We welcomed back our youngest member Jessica Hayes from her big holiday to play her first ever game. With a bit of a nervous start she slowly got into the hang of it and did a great job in defence. We are really ge ng the hang of moving the ball from one end of the court to the other with the girls really pu ng into play what they learn at training. So fantas c seeing the improvements every week. Incen ve went to Scarle Ferguson for her beau ful leading and re-offering and the brilliant game she played in defence. Junior 1: A great morning for netball at the Burr. The girls were feeling the cold taking a li le to warm up, but once they got into it they were off. Moving the ball nicely down the court. The girls in the a acking end did a great job with some strong defensive opponents. We found a few things we'll work on at training so we can get be er and be er. Great effort by all. Incen ve went to Henna Malone for making some fantas c leads and ge ng in amongst the game. 13 & Under: Mt Burr 40 def Robe 28. Unfortunately the girls couldn't get over the line again last week. This would have been a great game to win but the girls let them get away from them. We will con nue to work on weaknesses at training and hopefully the girls can make an effort to put this into their game on a Saturday. A real standout on the weekend was Milla Roach. She was thrown into goals for the first me this season a er the girls told us she was great at Gala Day. She held her space beau fully and presented nice and strong. She also created space through the mid court and into the goal ring, avoiding our constant crowding. Milla Roach took home incen ve (Denton Sportspower). Best player went to Millie Fennell (Robe Seafood & Takeaway). 15 & Under: Mt Burr 34 def Robe 24. It was a good start in the freezing cold at the Burr and then we let it slip a bit. Silly mistakes with general skills is what lost it for us. We need to slow our game down and think about our passing, leads and how we land. Working together as a team is crucial to winning games of netball, which is something we will work on over the next few weeks. Best (Union Cafe) went to Georgie Wirth and Incen ve (Denton Sportspower) went to Demi Birmingham. 17 & Under: Mt Burr 35 def by Robe 50. Awesome game ladies! Might need pasta night every week. Solid effort by all and we love seeing things we work out at training, in our game. Condi ons were bad but to s ll pull a win like we did to a team only just under us on the ladder shows you all just how strong we are and the level of professionalism that you're playing with at the moment. We played with a clean slate each quarter and kept our heads high - be queens as I say. The maturity levels of each of you on the court is outstanding, which comes from growth as an individual and confidence within our team mates - something that as coaches we are so proud to see. To keep level heads even when we are in the lead is a skill which will help us through finals when the me may come. Best (Loaves & Fishes) went to Maddie Wirth, who played a stella in defence! Incen ve (Denton Sportspower) went to Billie Carter who had a consistent game in defence and kept her head when her player didn't - great job! A great game by
NETball club notes you all and those 1%ers paid off! Keep up that talk and confidence in the coming weeks. B Reserve: Mt Burr 53 def Robe 18. A bugger to start the day with 6 but how lucky to have juniors - Sienna, Maddie and Billie to play with us. Wet and slippery, we started out okay against the top ladder side, but soon felt the pressure in each posi on. This led to a bit of over-pouring of emo on, which can only be expected. It doesn't take long for the top sides to work us out, and we are s ll learning how to understand and adjust to that. Some mes it helped by moving player posi ons, but other mes it was just tough. And that’s okay too. We play because we love the game and the friendships made, and that is s ll shining through. Calcu a (Loaves & Fishes) went to dynamo Jess Svic and my incen ve (Pure Luxe) went to Billie who had a good crack in goals. It was good to see B Grade almost get over the line and our A and A Res have nice wins. The Juniors had mixed results, but there was lots of interest in each others games across the club, including the footy. Spot on Roosters! B Grade: Mt Burr 25 def Robe 20. With a couple of unsure weeks, we were going in confident for a good/tough game. That it was, with the low score showing just how tough a game it was. Goalies Emma and Lily had their work cut out for them with some strong defence in the ring. If only that darn ball would go in. We welcomed back Kellie who has been out for 4 weeks and she slipped right back into her prime posi on in WD. Was good to have you back. Mid court all worked fabulously together ge ng that ball down the court so the goalies could focus on staying back. Defence were strong all game with some rather accurate shooters! We were lucky to permanently pick up Car a and she really helped bring some new energy to the team. Calcu a (Me & Miss Jones) went to Mahalia Bathurst-Warren for her great effort in defence and Incen ve (Union Cafe) went to Tamara for really helping to se le and control the play in the mid court. Well done to all the girls and hopefully we can get them next me. A Reserve: Mt Burr 26 def by Robe 66. Great team game girls. Was so lovely to see us all come together and play a team game, controlled and consistent. We all used our ability to speed up and slow down when needed, keeping control of the ball the en re me. Our defensive pressure all the way down the court is what got us a handy lead early, making sure we looked a er the ball and scored from each and every turnover. Calcu a went to Kimberley Aus n (Steves Place) and Incen ve went to Skimmer (The Eighth Le er) A Grade: Mt Burr 46 def by Robe 55. A er a slow start in the first quarter we found ourselves needing to slow the pace and adjust to the slippery condi ons. However, once we found our feet we all worked well together as a team and we were unstoppable. Each player gave 100% and played their role. With a booming third quarter we came away winners by 9 goals. Halle Carter had a great game at WD, with heaps of pressure over the ball and making it hard for Mount Burr's a ack line, proving herself worthy of this week’s Calcu a (Holiday). Emma Grant also had a boomer at GD, coming away with the incen ve (The Pastry Place).
Beau ful condi ons for our game against Mount Burr, congratula ons to the A Reserve on their first win and to Kate Clayfield on her 150 games. It was also pleasing to see so many netballers at the last func on. I hope everyone enjoyed the week’s break and are ready for the trip to Robe. We are almost at the half way mark for the 2022 season and I hope everyone is enjoying themselves. The commi ee would like to acknowledge all our volunteers and thank them for the support. Whether you're a coach, team manager, trainer/first aider, me keeper, work in the canteen, BBQ or bar, umpire or any other role - YOU are a vital part of our game and we say thank you for your tremendous contribu on. This week's sponsors are GT Industrial Sales and Gildera Forestry. We thank you for your ongoing support. Junior 2: Good effort girls, was a tough game against Mt Burr. Remembering to be in front of our players to receive passes. We worked well in our defence with many intercepts. We are improving each week so well done to all. Best player went to Zoe Roisse er (Canteen award). Junior 1: Excellent game, each week you keep improving as a team. We have girls that are capable in playing both a ack and defence. You showed great defensive skills all down the court. Great leads into space and drive down the court. Thank you very much to our Jnr 2s Maddy and Zoe for filling in - you both did an awesome job. Award (Athlete’s Foot) to Isobella for some great shoo ng and moving in the goal circle. 13 & Under: Great team effort. All players had patches where they played brilliant netball. We just couldn't all do at the same me. Only lost by 8 and had chances to win the game. However, I am pleased with the development of the younger players and hope you all con nue to grow your skills. James had great game at WA and star ng passing the ball into goalies. Ella C ran at centre all game and con nues to pass with accuracy. Ella S was the main focus point in goals and rebounded strongly to give us plenty of opportuni es. Ruby was s ll recovering from illness was great to have her back. CJ played ght defence stopping his player from ge ng the ball. Kaylee rebounded strongly at back ends of the court. Skye received many intercep ons and drove ball down court providing plenty of op ons. Paige played many defensive posi ons and gave 100% in all of them crea ng pressure to get turnovers. Well done team. Enjoy the week off and see you all at Robe. Awards: Baker's Delight - Ella S, Donut King - James. 17 & Under: Although the scoreline didn't reflect it, we actually played well girls. The transi on down court was really good and only li le footwork and passing errors let us
down. Although we are doing these few errors every week we are doing less, so well done. Movement in the goal circle is ge ng be er every week and feeders are ge ng more pa ent wai ng for the right op ons. Defence always working hard and ge ng so many touches. Overall not a bad game girl's - keep your heads up and the win will come soon. Fasta Pasta award to Maddison and Athlete’s Foot Bella. B Reserve: Was a really tough game but we gave it our all working hard from start to finish. There were some amazing plays down the court with both a ack and defence trying really hard, our mid court ge ng their hands to a lot of loose balls as well. I'm very happy with how we are star ng to come together more as a team each week. I'm excited to watch us all con nue to grow as a team throughout the remainder of the season. Best players Tamara Shepherd and Maddy Glynn. B Grade: Well that wasn't the result that we would have liked. Not our best game but what we can take from it is the areas we need to strengthen. We need to remember to block the people on the sidelines out and keep focused on the game, and remember that none of us are perfect and we all make mistakes so we need to remember to not be nega ve on the court. A er a week off hopefully we can regroup and come back together as a team and play a full 4 quarters consistently. Best players Skye Fox and Kate Clayfield. A Reserve: What a game girls. Another new team, but we finally got over the line. Everyone played 4 strong quarters and played their posi ons. Defence worked hard all game turning over some awesome balls that we capitalised on at the other end. At the start we tried to play a fast pace game but when we steadied and pa ent it looked and went well and that's when we got our run on. Centre area and goalers worked well together with some great passing and finishing. Now we are finally on the board let's keep building on that win. RSL award went to Shandeen for her good running through the middle. A Grade: I'm so proud of the girls, what a game it was. We worked well as a team and everyone did what they needed to do. To be only down by 3 goals at one point is fantas c. We played 4 quarters of great netball, only thing that let us down was a few bad passes and then we dropped our heads and they got away from us. We need to keep believing in ourselves as we are proving we are a great team and we have the poten al. Was a fantas c team effort - you should all be proud of yourselves? It was extremely hard to pick best players as everyone played so well but best players went to Ebony Lawson (Pines Hotel Voucher) and Tahlia Wilson.

NETball club notes Junior 2: We came up against a very evenly matched Kalangadoo team last week. The girls had some great driving down the court and they are star ng to spread out and look for space. Awards went to Georgina for her strength and amazing passes and to Polly for listening to exactly what I want her to do. Junior 1: What a ripper of a game against Kalangadoo! The girls have improved so much and I love how they are implemen ng what they have learnt at training into the game. They all chased the ball and had lots of great contests in defence. Emie received an award for her great a acking skills, finding the space to get the ball down the court. Apsara received an award for her terrific defence as she got loads of great intercepts. 13 & Under: Our focus at training was about team work, backing each other up on the court and providing more op ons for ball movement and we definitely saw more of this in the game on Saturday! There was improvement in the girls' movement down the court and yet again, an increasing amount of intercepts and turnovers. Rachael and Alexis were kept very busy in the defence circle ge ng their hands on the ball numerous mes. Awards were given to Summah Brown (Fasta Pasta) for her excellent effort in WD, and Isobel O'Brien (Hungry Jack’s) for increasing her confidence in providing more op ons in the midcourt. 15 & Under: It was a tough one last week and I am very proud of how you all played. It was great to see some set plays and movement happen that we have been prac cing at trainings. We looked a er the ball the best we could against a much taller and stronger team. We are also star ng to use our voice on court which is great. Kaitlyn kept her player high and got her hands to many balls receiving the KFC Award. Somerset Award went to Kailah for her con nual improvement at WA leading and feeding. Demi got the Sportspower award for doing a great job on a tough player and never giving up. Keep it up girls. 17 & Under: A fantas c team effort last weekend girls! You all dug deep for the full 60 minutes which showed on the scoreboard. Chloe and Bell combined excellently for the first half and shot brilliantly and when Charlo e came on in the second half she slo ed in perfectly and we didn't miss a beat. Ebs, our li le workhorse didn't stop whilst on the court. Megan, once again a li le quiet achiever. She played a fantas c game driving hard and implan ng her strong passes. Defensively, Charli, Tayla and Holly had a great game. You all got plenty of hands to ball throughout the
NETball club notes game. Remember girls to slow it down and look a er the ball. Our connec ons are growing as players and you are all ge ng used to where each other are and how they play but we need to remember to se le it and take it slow to make the most of those turnovers and rewarded everyone's hard work. Big game today, let's get 'em! B Reserve: Great game girls! Was great to see everyone finally star ng to work together as a team. All your handwork at training paid off today and showed on the court, as you started to use everything we have been prac sing. Let's con nue working hard to try and get some more wins on the board. Best players went to Emily Jennings who played a great game in goals, domina ng the a ack. As well as Bri ney Allen, who worked hard all game in keeper, ge ng lots of turnovers. Special men on to Chloe who also played a fantas c game and is really star ng to find her feet. Also thanks to Chloe and Megan from the 17s for helping us out. Go Tiges! B Grade: Bad luck girls. We knew it was going to be hard with 3 players away and 2 more injured but Kalangadoo was just too tall, strong and skilful for us. We need to focus less on the opposi on and more on what the coach is asking of us next week. Gemmah ba led all day against a much taller opponent and Alice ran hard despite felling unwell. A big posi ve of the day was the efforts of our juniors that stepped up to help us out, Charli put in solid effort at GD and Holly Walker, Charlo e Shaw and Demi Bevan all made their senior debut and played amazing helping us to have an even last quarter. I look forward to seeing you in seniors again soon! Awards: Gemmah - Tant meal voucher, Alice - Heaven on a Hanger. A Reserve: This was definitely not one of our best games score wise. We made some simple mistakes with our passing and space. But I know that we can play much be er than this. Let's keep our heads up girls, there are going to be tough teams we play against but we can also be one of those teams. Let's get some pointers from the game and learn from them and get ready for this week. Best: Michelle Robinson Fi h and Madison voucher, Ella Clarke - Lima & Co Voucher. A Grade: A tough day out for us girls last week. We really need to keep working hard at trainings and applying a strong game plan on Saturday's. Keep ge ng around each other and the wins will come. Em played a tough game in a ack and shot well. Casey was strong in the a ack line and had a go in WD, both got awards last week. Let's turn it around girls!
Junior 1: What a great game girls! Amazing to see how much improvement you have achieved this far into the season! Such a big difference can be seen in comparison to the start of the year, with everyone’s confidence growing more and more each week. Our stepping and ability to posi on in front of opponents is s ll something we are working on at trainings, but we are sure to see some progress in the coming weeks. Best player went to Isabelle (Acky’s Takeaway), who’s hard work was rewarded in the a acking circle through plenty of goals. Junior 2: Another great effort from the girls, the winter weather con nuing to challenge their developing skills and once again they were able to persevere. The girls adapted to some struggles being thrown into the mix with some players needing to leave for photos and some players feeling a li le under the weather... pun intended. Well done girls. 13 & Under: Well done girls, this was our strongest start for the season. We all played great defence and turned the ball over many mes, giving our goalies plenty of opportuni es. We came away with a great win, with all players showing improvement and using what we have prac ced at training. Thanks to Kelly for umpiring, Monique for scoring and Shannon for ming. Award: Denton Sportspower - Stella. 15 & Under: A scrappy start, but came away with a win. As the game progressed we came into rhythm and grew our confidence. We need to con nue with working on our communica on on the court and talking to one another. Thank you Lisa H for scoring, Julie for ming and Leah for umpiring. Voucher went to Kaylah Wilson Fasta Pasta. 17 & Under: The girls had a strong start to the game and we gained confidence with some different combina ons which allowed us to convert many turnovers onto the scoreboard. Credit to Robe’s defensive pressure across the en re court as this resulted in many unforced errors in our transi ons. Despite going down, I was super proud of the girls efforts and they have shown great confidence in each other. Thank you Mandy for umpiring, April for scoring and Aaron for ming. The award went to Makaylah Gregory (Fasta Pasta). B Reserve: Well done girls, a slow start to the game, but as the game progressed, we started playing our game and we improved all over the
court. Great to see defensive pressure all over the court crea ng turnovers. Something to work on is making sure we consistently pass to a free player, limi ng passes to our team mates under pressure. Thanks to Madi for umpiring, Wayne for scoring and Lani for ming. Cafe Melzar award to Mia. B Grade: Great effort girls. Second win in a row! It was great to see everyone work as a team, and some great passages of play took place. It was a defensive game, with Lara, Stacey, and Jaz working hard to get a lot of turnovers. We scored majority of our goals and the turnovers worked well in our favour. Well done to Stacey, winning best, and got the Igni on Fitness award, and Lara second best, receiving the Beauty by Hannah award. Tess worked hard in centre, along with Lilly to feed in to the goalies. Lani and Madi worked hard to get in front and shot some handy goals. Thanks to MacKenzie for filling in for us. Congratula ons girls on an excellent game, being in front all game and finishing strong for the win! Thank you to Karen for ming, Sally for scoring, and Paula for umpiring. A Reserve: Finally, a full team! So good to have our team together and on the court. A good game by all players, was great to be able to try different combina ons and see where each player works well at. Heidi showed her hidden talent in the last quarter and played a solid quarter at GA. Awards - Heidi and Leila. Thank you to Shannon for scoring, Tracey for ming and Raelene for primary caring. A Grade: Mt Burr 46 v Robe 55. We started with a different line up than normal and we were able to play some really good compe ve netball. Madi and Eb worked well together with Zoe and Laura feeding with pin point precision. Meg played one of her best games pu ng intense pressure on at WD. Olivia and Simone worked hard and pulled in any missed goals for us to convert into goals. Unfortunately we weren’t able to keep this intensity up in the third and went down by 9 goals in this quarter alone which ended up being the final margin. If anything was going to go wrong it did in this quarter. This really highlights that we need to stay focused and play 4 consistent quarters for us to be up with the top teams. Let’s regroup this week and play the high level netball I know we are capable of. A big thank you to Jus ne for umpiring, Heidi for scoring, Allen for ming and Tanya for being our primary carer.

Junior 2: What an amazing team effort. Everyone chased down loose balls, worked hard on their prelim moves and came in front of their players. I am so proud of the way you are listening each week and am amazed at how much you have improved so far this year. Well done girls. Awards: Myla Bowman (HLC), Kaia Green (Java Café), Maggie Ma hews (Macca's). Junior 1: A very solid effort from the J1 girls again last week. It seems no ma er what combina ons and rota ons we have, the girls quickly adjust and play their team role. Our posi ve communica on and encouragement to each other seems to li quarter by quarter, keeping everyone mo vated and on their game. It was pleasing to see the front cuts and offensive drives that we worked on at training being put into prac ce on the court. Toy Kingdom award went to Hazel for her strong defensive game, Tilly with the ladies for strong drives onto the ring and Macca's to Kirby for her backup and ght defence. Awards: Hazel Hamilton (Toy Kingdom), Tilly Prouse (HLC), Kirby Carruthers (Macca's). 13 & Under: A solid effort girls. Our defensive effort all the way down the court was impressive, we made them work for every ball. We worked hard on chasing down the loose balls and our second and third efforts were notable. We need to keep working on finding that front posi on and releasing the ball early. Awards: Grace Andre (HLC), Leni Carruthers (Toy Kingdom). 15 & Under: Yuk! Not a pre y game to watch girls, we seemed flat and not tuned in. We were lucky to get the points. Niah was a rock at both ends of the court and put in 4 strong quarters. Kalli also worked hard and gave us plenty of opportuni es. Hailey was steady at shooter over the 4 quarters. A bit of a blast at three quarter me saw the intensity li a li le, Deni came into the game and played her best quarter for the game. We need to improve our court balance and fla en out those passes. Let's work hard this week and play how we know we can. Very happy to come away with the win knowing we can do so much be er, and it showed you've all got a lot to bring to the team we just need to do it as a unit. Thanks to Poppy, Olivia, and Meeka for helping out. Awards: Niah Faulkner (Denton’s Sportspower), Kalli Ne le (HLC). 17 & Under: A very strong effort for us and a game that we really stepped up and proved our own abili es to ourselves. We trialled new combina ons which proved the versa lity within our team. We really worked hard on improving our teamwork and bringing our training drills into the game. Our shoo ng accuracy and communica on was probably the best for the year. Walk away from last week's game proud
of yourselves and our team. We are a lot stronger than what we have been, and I hope we can con nue to li our game abili es and teamwork for the rest of the season. Awards: Imogen Nowak (Denton’s Sportspower), Demi Jones (HLC). B Grade: It took us the first quarter to adjust to playing wet weather netball with many opportuni es lost but for the rest of the game we se led and minimised the mistakes to a have a great win by 10 goals. Georgia and Sophie worked relessly all day crea ng us so many turns against a tough goalie combina on. Ella was always there for a loose ball and rebounded amazingly in the last. Meg worked hard all-day pouncing on anything loose with great drives out of D and feeding well in WA. Jas our energiser bunny played another ripper ge ng hands to so many and played a great a acking game. Nat drove beau fully all-day implemen ng what we've been working on. Hayley, Charlie, and Paris were in the goals with every combina on working well. It was good to see Paris back on the court! Great team game by everyone. Thanks again to Linda for PC, Mel for scoring and Sarah for si ng bench for us. Awards: Georgia Gray (Caltex), Jas Bellinger (Kelsey Wight Fitness), Sophie Gibbs (Somerset Hotel). A Reserve: Coming into the game we knew it was going to be a hard game with both of us in the 4. Everyone stood up and owned their posi on. Helen and Rosie through the midcourt were strong with lots of great drives and feeding into Eliza, Olivia, and Abby. Millie and Sarah worked relessly in the defensive circle and made their opponents work for every goal. Eliza had a hard day but s ll managed to se le herself and shoot beau fully. A solid team effort girls, well done! Thank you to Michelle, Liss and Sam for making every week stress-free. Awards: Rosie Ne le (Sassi Home & Gi ware), Sarah Broadhead (Beachport Hotel), Millie Smith (Somerset Hotel). A Grade: A strong four quarters enabled us to keep our noses in front from start to finish and although the margin never blew out for the most part, we were pa ent and controlled. Tegan and Erin worked beau fully to keep possession and wait for the right op on. Georgia and Lara were tenacious on any loose balls and provided plenty of back up on the line. Abby once again stood up in the circle and shot super. Demi is reading the play well and along with Maddie gave us plenty of drive out of D. Maddie P once again showed her value with some beau ful goalie feeds. It's nice to finally see some cohesion coming into our game. Well done. Awards: Georgia Hunter (Somerset Hotel), Abby Wight (Sassi), Tegan Telfer (HSRC).
Junior 2: Our mini magpies did another amazing job last week with so much improvement, yet again. With Tahlia, and Grace unfortunately out, we had the base 7 players so thanks to Ella for helping out. Firstly, I loved the space that the girls are now crea ng, with a lot more thought about our posi ons. We are thinking a lot about our feet and pivo ng well. Our best players were Ariella and Elana, but like every week, everyone could have go en an award. Adele had amazing technique while shoo ng and Olivia and Gracie also had a great me in goals and centre, sharing around the posi ons well. Willow did an amazing job with WA and used her voice and long limbs to get a lot of possession. In fact, the mid court showed a lot of great transi on, and you can see the team really coming together, which showed with 5 goals being scored. Keep up that great work girls. Let's work hard at training and think about spreading out and cu ng in front of our players for the passes. Junior 1: We had a bit of a strange Saturday without all of our normal li le magpies. But with the help from Lexi and a couple of our J2 superstars we put together a strong li le team. Passing and front cu ng was great last week but s ll have a few footwork bits to work on. The defensive pressure these li le go ge ers put on Tant is amazing and I'm so proud of the effort they are all pu ng in every week. HJ's - Milla, Macca’s - Harper. 13 & Under: Another good performance from all players in many unaccustomed posi ons. Molly and Keirsten were named best, with Lexi (Hungry Jack’s), Zara (Paradise Pizzas) and Emmity (Devine Gi s) taking out the awards. Must make men on of the Tantanoola team - it is not easy fron ng up each Saturday when your team is struggling for players etc. but these girls kept trying the whole match. A credit to all, and we are apprecia ve because without them in the compe on, we don't get to play a game! 15 & Under: Another strong game girls. We need to keep working on being focussed when we make posi onal changes. Maya (Penola Recyclables) had a great 4 quarters and picked up many intercepts. Ash (DK Coffee) worked hard and adjusted to changes and gave it her best. 17 & Under: A lot of posi ves to come out of what was a disappoin ng result. The bo om line was we probably didn't have that “want” for the ball the en re game, which is what we need to come away with the points. Sophie (Wendy's) ran hard through the middle all game, crea ng countless plays and execu ng clever, pinpoint passes into the goals. Savannah (Boost) absolutely nailed
what was asked of her and was rewarded with mul ple turnovers each quarter. It is so wonderful to see you grow each week and make that posi on your own #proud. Despite the disappoin ng result, all of the factors that contributed last week are completely fixable. We will work on these at trainings over the coming weeks, and we will be rewarded in the coming weeks when our game comes together. Thank you again to our 15s last week - Shayden, Molly and Maya. B Reserve: Not one of our be er games! Our team was very “flat” at the start to be 10 down at half me. Sparked up a li le in the last half but too li le, too late - and Tant's accuracy didn't help our cause! Awards to Gemma (DK Coffee), Sam (RSL) and Emma S (Devine Gi s). B Grade: A er a slow start to the game with a few errors made we were able to se le into a nice game of netball. Some great turnovers from Steph Bingham in WD and Emily Mulraney in GD. The goalie combina on of Gina and Rhianna conver ng very accurately well supported by Isabelle at WA. Imogene at centre controlling the game all over the court. With a decent score line we were able to give the Sam Mulraney and Gemma Box a run on court. Sam rested Imogene in centre and Gemma into GK. All in all a well played game of netball. Best players: Steph (St Mary's), Gina (Collins Court Butcher). A Reserve: We had a great start to the game and our full court defensive pressure worked effec vely to create a lot of scoring opportuni es for our goalies. Shanae and Shanen didn't let any rebounds go uncontested and our mid court transi on worked fluidly to send the ball to our a acking end. We are lucky to have the contribu on of our junior players and Eb, Tegan and Georgia all stepped up to fit seamlessly into our team. Maddy and Estella are finding their feet together and working well to both use each other as well as Zoe and Anthea for rese ng op ons. A great win to come away with. We are all looking forward to having Lucy back this week. Shelton’s Butchers Shanae Neale, Mt Gambier RSL - Estella Serle. A Grade: Thank you to Timmy Brennan and family for your pre game efforts to celebrate Indigenous Round. We certainly enjoyed the smoking ceremony, which may need to become our pregame ritual! Another solid performance on the court from all girls, which pleasingly saw elements of our training sessions come into our match. Great game from the youngsters, who are both accep ng the challenges of senior netball, giving their best effort and developing their games - keep it up kids! Best player: Sophie (the much loved – Terry White Pharmacy Award) and (Birdie Blue) Lauren.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Great game this week a er having the week off. Everyone improved and listened to what we said to them at training and put it into the game and everyone had an awesome game so well done. Metalworx Award went to Charlo e for a great job at GK and Lico Pty Ltd Award went to Ruby for great shoo ng and ge ng lots of touches at GK. Junior 1: Great game girls although we did have a few scrappy patches, we also had some great passages of play. Eddie Kuhl Tyres Award went to Jaylee for coming forward towards the ball and second best went to Gracie for reading the ball really well. Special men on to Annabelle for an awesome long bomb. Let’s keep developing and working hard at training. 13 & Under: 56-11. Wow such a great effort from each and every player - you all played so well! Our hand pressure over the ball was excep onal and many turnovers were made allowing us to score. Dycer Construc on Award went to Ruby Buckley who created many turnovers and had amazing defensive pressure. Taya's feeding into the goalies was on point and she was there to pick up any loose balls, earning the Donut King award. Let’s really focus at training this week, ready for a big game! 15 & Under: 51-15. Great game girls - you all played a great game. We need to be mindful of our feet but you all se led and readjusted. Montana played a great consistent game, great leads and talking to the girls in the ring and making be er plays for the Maloney Plumbing Award. Shae got second best as she had great leads and was an op on all game. Sienna got 3rd best as she showed resilience and made changes to her game to be a different op on and it worked well opening up the goal ring. Great win girls you all played a great consistent game. 17 & Under: 33-37. Bad luck girls! Unfortunately we had a few lapses in concentra on which let the other team get in front and meant we were chasing all day. What was really pleasing was that everyone never gave up and fought right to the end of the game. Last week at training we worked on limi ng our footwork calls and we only got picked up twice which was a massive improvement. Lara received DeGaris Lawyers award as she has been listening to feedback, ran hard all day and was always an op on. Second best went to Lily who moved really well in the circle and was always trying to get front posi on.
NETball club notes B Reserve: 38-27. Well done girls there were a lot of different combina ons during the game but everyone adapted well with great leads and defensive pressure. The defence worked hard all day with many turnovers but the wind proved havoc for the goalies. Well done to Mikayla (Key 2 Sale Award) for a great full game in centre and Julia who shot great when she was put into goals. B Grade: 55-33. Winter has arrived! In very wet condi ons we all played a very controlled game. Once again Chloe (Planta on Treated Timber Award) led by example through the middle and caused a lot of turnovers which were converted by Abbie and Max. Hopefully the coming weeks will see us with somewhat of a full team. Again a huge thank you to Sam, Abbie and Lauren for filling in - we would be lost without you. Let’s work hard at training and con nue the improvement. Go Murphies! A Reserve: 53-43. Top effort girls, we had a very up and down game but were lucky when we were up we con nued to drive and push through and score those needed goals. Thank you again Amber and Zoe for playing you have been the glue for our team and Max and Chloe thank you for si ng bench as well. Amber you did a great job in defence and held your own with lots of touches. Laura and Abbie fantas c effort and has been pleasing to see you guys gel more each week. Jessie well done for con nuing your drive with your injury and Zoe back to back mid court games again - you wouldn't even know as you did a fantas c job. Sammy top effort in your block and holding again - that is improving each week. Nice job girls and good to get the job done. B&P Travel & Cruise Award to Jessie and second best to Abbie. A Grade: 77-29. Well done girls. In very wet condi ons it was pleasing to see everyone backing each up and chasing down loose balls the en re game. It was great to have Chantelle back on court who worked hard to con nually get best posi on on a super tall opponent. First best went to Mal (O'Brien Electrical Award) for her strong holding and fantas c shoo ng volume. Second best to Ashlea (Commercial Hotel Award) who fed wonderfully all day. Overall it was a posi ve team game and it is very exci ng to know that we each have the poten al to play at an even higher standard. Let’s come out strong today on our home court and get the win.
The Port MacDonnell Netball club wishes to congratulate Deanne Spencer on her 250th game for the club against Hatherleigh last Saturday, well done De! We would also like to wish our Mid South East Country Championship Representa ves all the best in Adelaide over the June longweekend. Good luck to Bailee Lewis and Layla McPherson who will represent our club in the 13 & Under team and to Sophie Lewis in the 15 & Under team. Good luck also to Narelle Lewis and Ella Hein who have taken on the roles of coach and team manager respec vely, of the 15 & Under team. The girls are lucky to have you both. Finally good luck to Bridie McPherson who is heading up to broaden her umpiring knowledge and gain some valuable experience. The club thanks you all for dedica ng your me to these championships and hope you have the best me! Junior 1: We came up against a very polished side in Hatherleigh. Their ght defence made it hard for us to get the ball into our circle. It was a good me to prac ce our dodging and passing. Addi had a great game in defence with lots of intercepts and great driving out of defence. Evie played a great game in a ack with some well med leads and front cuts. Both girls took home the Fasta Pasta award. We need to learn how to create space and to throw into that space. It's good to come away from a game with things to work on so we can keep improving. 13 & Under: Congratula ons girls on another great game, we fought hard to the end on what was a close game to start with. The weather was cold and although there was annoying rain most of the game we kept our heads held high and dealt with the circumstances. Our footwork is s ll a li le downfall but we are improving each week. Our passes have improved so much and it shows coming down the court from defensive end to a ach end. Each girl should be incredibly proud of themselves as a team we have come so far and we s ll have a long way to go. It's great to see that no ma er on or off the court we are there to back each other up and cheer one other on. Best players went to Ivy Wilson (Wendy's) and Lillian Pe ngill (Baker’s Delight). Great game by all. 15 & Under: Another great three quarters of netball, we just seem to have 1 bad quarter per game. We did show some grit to come back a er being down by 10 at half me to only loose by 3. We just have to remember to steady when we have the ball, it's not a hot potato, we have me to have a look for the best op on. Hungry Jack’s best players Ruby Moody and Chloe Newton. 17 & Under: A wet day is always going to make it tough on the court. Hatherleigh had us at the start
making us work extremely hard for our possession, but also we need to come prepared and focused to our games. The first quarter showed that we were not en rely ready to play. A er a reset at quarter me we started chipping away and working on our individual goals like we needed to a er our game against Tant. Every week we are improving on the li le things. Let’s keep building and see what comes of it in the second half of the season. Well done to you all. Best on was Stevie Collins (Fasta Pasta) and Jorja Mason again (Donut King). B Reserve: Well done everyone, your efforts and persistence was wonderful through a very wet game. Keeping control of the ball and being pa ent was the key for us staying in front all game. Awards: Briodie Wilson and Anna Whitehead (Victoria Hotel Shipwreck Bistro) and Lara Wilson (Sweet Treats & Taylor Made Hair & Beauty vouchers). B Grade: We were in the game mentally and physically for three quarters. The li le things at the end of a close game become important. When everyone is doing their job and maintaining concentra on the desired results will come. Direc on support and communica on is also important to keep each other accountable. We let this game get away from us in the fourth quarter. Losing our focus and concentra on, le ng the things we can't control become our frustra on. We have to put all our focus on what we can control. Maintain possession and treasure turnover. Let's keep working hard on our next steps to improve those li le things and our goals will come. Awards: Candice Merre - Fi h Madison & Chemist King, Kelly Millard - “Shipwreck Bistro” Victorian Hotel Port MacDonnell. A Reserve: It just wasn't our day. It's really important that we con nue to support and give confidence to our players when things don't feel like they are going our way. It's how we finish with our 1% efforts the game that gives us the drive to keep moving forward. Dig deep and find it within to adapt to change or when things aren't working. You only get out what you put in. Let it be our lesson. Best players: Isabella Lamb and Montanna Millard. A Grade: Tough game girls, but our silly errors and decisions ended up cos ng us the game. We had some great passages of play and our defensive pressure all over court was great. Defence fought hard all game and come away with some much needed turnovers. The a ack work hard in providing passages of play to bring the ball down into the goal circle. Well done to the goalies, was a hard day in the circle but you keep persis ng to ensure to got the ball. Best - Kirby Carrison (Taylor Made) and Toni Gilmore (Victoria Hotel).
ROUND 8 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW Kalangadoo 68 def Tantanoola 47
Mount Burr 46 lost to Robe 55
Kalangadoo hosted Tantanoola in the annual Indigenous Round. Both teams tussled early in the first quarter, going goal for goal with both a ack lines scoring with ease. Tantanoola's Emma Gould was a focal point in the goal circle for her side and was fed precisely by wing a ack Casey Walker. Kalangadoo took mid-way through the quarter to develop momentum and went into the first break with a four goal advantage. In the second quarter the Kalangadoo defence of Lauren Kain and Reanna Wetherall stepped up their pressure and gave the Kalangadoo goalies plenty of opportuni es to convert. Kalangadoo's Sophie Wrightson at wing defence worked hard to limit Walker's feeding opportuni es and created turnovers for her side. Kalangadoo went into the main break with a ten goal lead 36-26. Both teams remained unchanged going into the third quarter which saw Tantanoola's defence of Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe make Kalangadoo goalies, Kori Collins and Abbey Duncan, earn every possession. Kalangadoo's Kirsty Egan at wing a ack was able to find space and feed her goalies accurately. Kalangadoo were able to extend the lead throughout the quarter to have a 16 goal advantage at the break. Tantanoola made posi onal changes to the mid court going into the final quarter, moving Casey Walker to wing defence, Madi Kelly to wing a ack and Kristy Varcoe to centre. Kalangadoo were able to extend the lead to finish the match 68 to Tantanoola's 47. At the conclusion of the match Kalangadoo's Jayde Peacock was awarded the Brennan Family Indigenous Medal. Best players - Kalangadoo: Sophie Wrightson and Lauren Kain; Tantanoola: Casey Walker and Emma Gould.
Mount Burr took to the court with quite a few posi onal changes, one being usual defender Madi Hagge into goal a ack. This change created some extra height in the goal circle to support shooter Ebony Clark. Both teams started strongly with the Burr ge ng the first goal from Clark. Robe's Lucy Perkins at WA and Annie Hunter in C provided opportuni es for goalies Sarah Laurie and Tori Gluyas to pass around the circle enabling them to get within close range to maximise opportuni es to score. Mount Burr applied strong defensive pressure in the Robe goal circle from GD Olivia Dean and Simone Westerman in at GK as well as applying pressure all over the court. This resulted in some mely intercepts giving them a two goal advantage for most of the quarter. Robe's GK and GD in Ellen Ramke and Emma Grant worked together to apply defensive pressure on Hagge and Clark but with support from Laura Schultz in C and Zoe Brown in at WA goalies were able to move the ball around the circle and create some space from their defenders with some accurate scoring from both goalies. Clark shoo ng with confidence and accuracy and Hagge standing strong for any lose rebounds. Mount Burr had a 2 goal lead at the first break. The second quarter started off Robe and Mount Burr goal for goal holding their own centre passes with pa ent passing and accurate shoo ng. Mount Burr scored from their centre with a lovely long shot from Clark before Robe responded with a long accurate shot from GA Gluyas, despite the pressure applied by the Mount Burr defenders. Scoring con nued goal for goal with both teams prepared to pass the ball pa ently around the ring to get in safe scoring posi on. Robe's defence stepped up a notch applying pressure, not only in the Burr goal circle but also around the circle from Hunter and Carter which forced another error from Mount Burr. Pressure from the defenders at each end of the court caused errant passing into the respec ve goal circles with Mount Burr eventually being able to capitalise on from an accurate shot from Clark. With the Hawks looking nervous in the first quarter, the Murphies were able to capitalise well giving them a 14 goal lead heading into the first break. This quarter also saw Sarah Edwards out for a hunt at GD where she found another gear in the third term, leading the Murphies to outscore the Hawks 21 to 9 as they worked the ball down the court fast and with accuracy. Port MacDonnell 36 lost to Hatherleigh 41 Last Saturday saw Hatherleigh visit Port MacDonnell for their second home game of the season, in what was predicted to be a close game. Both teams came from close games last week and were looking for the points. Despite the wet and slippery condi ons, the Demons and Eagles came out firing and played ght netball. The ba le through the middle was one to watch; the Bay's Liza Mutch and Hatherleigh's Tegan Telfer fought tenaciously, tussling for every ball. Port Mac were adjus ng to a few slight changes to their line-up, with Jess Lynch star ng in centre and Kirby Carrison beginning in defence. Hatherleigh goalies Abby Wight and Maddie Redman challenged Alana Winter and Carrison, but the Bay defenders responded quickly and worked to limit their opportuni es. Port Mac led by 1 at the end of the first term. Hatherleigh kept their line up the same at the beginning of the second quarter, looking to obtain some turnovers. The Bay moved speedy Mutch into the centre and put Lynch back to WD. Hatherleigh's Wight shot with impeccable accuracy which limited Winter and Carrison's rebounding opportuni es. The Bay benefi ed having experienced goalie, Toni Gilmore, on court as Hatherleigh's Lara MacGregor challenged Brooke Williams' shoo ng opportuni es. Hatherleigh's Erin Watson ran relessly through the centre and with support from Telfer, guided their excellent transi on throughout the court. Hatherleigh's pressure and fight for the ball held them up by 2 at half me. In the beginning of the second half, it was s ll anyone's game. Hatherleigh's Maddie Pulmer hit the court and Redman shi ed to defence. Port Mac made a few changes looking to regain their lead. Belinda O'Dine joined Winter in defence, whilst Williams came into the centre, making room for Carrison in goals. Georgia Hunter put pressure on the Bay's Narelle Lewis as Port Mac se led into their differed a ack line up. Redman quickly adjusted to her change into defence and limited Carrison's opportuni es to shoot. The Bay's O'Dine, despite having fresh legs couldn't do much to defeat Wight, who was unstoppable in the ring. Winter however shook Pulmer and kept her scoreless for the quarter. Hatherleigh made the most of all opportuni es throughout the court, and they led by 4 at three quarter me. Port Mac kept their line up the same and focussed on defensive pressure to control Hatherleigh. Hatherleigh's Hunter was replaced by MacGregor, and Demi Vanderhorst brought fresh legs into defence. Despite the Bay's efforts, Hatherleigh gained a couple of early turnovers and Vanderhorst gained crucial intercepts which held them in front. Watson ba led for every ball and fed well into Wight and Pulmer. The Bay's Gilmore s ll fought to score her own, and Winter did all she could to limit Pulmer's opportuni es. However, Hatherleigh's defensive pressure and fast court transi on was too good for the Bay and ul mately won them the game. Best players - Port MacDonnell: Alana Winter and Toni Gilmore; Hatherleigh: Erin Watson and Abby Wight.
