The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is here! Get the peace of mind that health insurance can bring! Open enrollment ends March 31, 2014. Don’t be left out! If you are young & healthy, you may think you do not need insurance or it costs too much. Health insurance is a good idea for many reasons - you never know if you’ll get sick or in an accident. All of us need preventive healthcare to keep us healthy. The North Philadelphia/Nicetown Community Advisory Group and Healthy Philadelphia are working together to make sure YOU get the health care you deserve. Representatives can help eligible uninsured people sign up for insurance and can help people who have insurance that they can’t afford enroll in a plan that costs less. They can also help eligible people sign up for CHIP and Medicaid. Call 215.851.1968 to set up your time. Representatives have been certified and extensively trained to help people sign up for health insurance, including issues of privacy and confidentiality. Personal information will not be collected or saved by in-person assisters. They will ask only for personal information needed to complete applications for insurance. In-person assisters can help people of all ages enroll, but we are especially looking for adults ages 18 - 35, the group most likely to be living without health insurance. In your spare time visit our website and remember to tell your friends and family to call us too. www.healthyphiladelphia.org
SUMMER JOBS FOR TEENS: START EARLY! Each year our community advisory group works with YOACAP to give families in North Philadelphia information about summer jobs. Our goal is to meet with parents each March to provide vital info to make sure their children are prepared early to attempt to get a summer job. If a child(14-21) can work 20 hours per week and earn $7 per hour, that goes a long way to build their self-esteem and responsibility. It also gives youth the opportunity to gain valuable work experience needed to secure meaningful employment.
Urban Affairs Coalition
While we cannot guarantee attendees jobs, we hope to give families the information
early enough to have a chance to be considered. This program was developed because you told our community advisory group that jobs were critical to improve community health and wellness. If you want to attend the upcoming meeting, please call 215.851.1968, and we hope to see you there.

For more info, call (215) 851.1968. This past year, we helped 45 youth develop skills, SAT prep, learn how to cook, complete seniors projects and six graduating HS seniors enrolled into college. Let us work with your family and school to improve your child’s future.
I just heard my old boyfriend is sick, and people are telling me that he has the hot stuff. I’m scared to ask him, but I need to know. I talked to my girl, and she told me that I should go get tested for STDs at YOACAP because they come out to your house to test you confidentially if necessary. They came to her house for her brother and was very professional. They were dressed casual so no one could tell why they came. It’s best to know if I have something than to wait until it’s too late. Get tested for STDs by calling 215.851.1968 - One life, One time, One call.
