Professional Experience:

Dr. Theresa Cunanan joined the College of International Education (CIE) in 2001 and earned the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2013. CIE is part of the School of Continuing Education at Hong Kong Baptist University. Prior to working at HKBU, she taught English Literature and English at Diocesan Girls’ School for 10 years, mainly preparing students to sit for the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and the Hong Kong Certificate Examination. In 2012 she received her PhD in Education from the University of East Anglia with a research focus on the study of education for ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.

Voluntary Contribution to Hong Kong:

In 2015, Dr Cunanan was invited to join the Committee on the Promotion of Racial Harmony with the Home Affairs Bureau as a non-official Committee member.

She was invited as guest speaker to Uniquely Me in 2013 and again in 2015 as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination organized by the Equal Opportunities Commission. In 2014 she was a guest speaker at the We as One event organized by the Kely Support Group, Hong Kong.

In 2014, she was a volunteer ambassador for Aide et Action International Cambodia Program to Educate, Empower, Enable Changing the World through Education

She has given radio Interviews on various topics such as racial discrimination, education opportunities for Non-Chinese students on DBC Radio 5, as well as on personal narratives, as part of an Equal Opportunities Commission Diversity Project in 2015 in collaboration with RTHK Radio 2.

Ms. Anita Gidumal is a currently a Finance Adviser to Abercorn Trading Co Ltd and Luxe City Guides. Prior to this, she was the Asia Regional Tax Leader for GE Capital & General Electric where she managed a team of tax professionals and was responsible for tax structuring and tax compliance.

Prior to joining GE Capital, she worked in the Audit and Tax departments at Deloitte in London and PWC Hong Kong. She has received a BA Honours in Accounting & Law from Manchester University, England.
