Professional Experience:

Dr Hanif Kanji is the CEO of Sinophi Healthcare, a company founded in 2004 which invests in and manages hospitals in China. Sinophi is also bringing the next generation of cost-effective proton treatment systems for radiotherapy for cancer to China and SE Asia using technology derived from CERN. In late 2014, Hanif led the financing of a landmark deal in China which entailed the privatisation and acquisition of a 1,100 bed hospital in a RMB 800m (HK$1bn) transaction.

Dr. Kanji qualified as a doctor and has 11 years experience in banking with leading financial institutions including Prudential-Bache in London and New York, and Société Générale in Paris and Hong Kong. Hanif returned to healthcare in 2000 in a turnaround role as COO for EHealthCareAsia Ltd., a HK-listed company, where he led the development of an innovative medical claims processing and clinic management software, its subsequent implementation into Hong Kong’s largest physician group of 700 doctors, and turned the company from loss to profit in nine months. Dr. Kanji has had numerous speaking engagements at international healthcare conferences.

He graduated in medicine from Cambridge University and received his MBA from The Wharton School, USA.
