Themes circling around identity, humanity, social change, and society inspire me greatly, as do many artists and photographers who convey these themes in their work. Tracey Emmin, Cindy Sherman, Man Ray, Richard Avedon, Andreas Gursky, Yoshitomo Nara, Julian Schnabel, and Roy Lichtenstein, are just a few examples of artists who inspire me. I have used a variety of artistic techniques, skills and processes this year. Beginning with watercolour to demonstrate a colour scheme and black and white pencil studies to exhibit form and light. I next combined my pencil studies with embroidery in order to bring an element of abstract expressionism into my work, simultaneously experimenting with black and white acrylics. Deciding to zoom further into ‘nonconformist’, slightly abstract techniques, I developed my skills in collage and line drawing so as to gain a broader 30
