"L
u m i n o u s Icescapes are a series of photographs developed in Iceland. When visiting the Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon in the southeast of Iceland, on the borders of Vatnajökull National Park, it was mesmerizing to witness the icebergs that appear like diamonds scattered on the beach at the beginning of Creation. The fragility of the ice on the beach, with its unceasing interplay of waves and sand, is absorbing. Iceland's evolving and surrounding landscapes offer the opportunity of experiencing a hypnotic journey. The country's climate, lighting, and inherent sound activate your senses in a way you can find all kinds of detail, from whispering winds of diamond dust and rainbow reveries to the deep sound emanating from under the ice.

Glaciers are many hundreds of thousands of years old. They are constructed of the air and water they have inhaled over these long lifetimes, physical memories that are stored as they grow in the layers of their geology. Today we head into the Anthropocene and are in the dying days of an era of ice that has lasted for 3m years. We are transitioning into an era of
fire, a Pyrocene that may persist for tens of thousands of years. Iceland's glaciers are some of the last Crown Jewels left to visit. Every day a new sculpture is formed in the lagoon as bits of ice break, and then they float out to Diamond beach breaking down further until they melt. To me, this fragile, ephemeral beauty reflects our own life experiences through time."
