T
he dramatic shift of 2020 brought an unexpected new reality to my life and family. My normal life of working 9 hour days to provide for my household and spending little time at home was about to change drastically. I remember when I called my mom, Penny, to tell her I wanted to work on small pieces of stained glass for fun. Then suddenly, she experienced a life altering medical emergency and had to downsize her business. Her Glass and Mirror Shoppe was bustling but there was little time to spend on her 40 years old craft business of Stained Glass Overlay. I would be the one to take on the family business and it became a much-needed creative outlet. As a single parent, my mom Penny, raised my sister, Brandy, and I on her income from Stained Glass Overlay. This urgent shift in my mom’s business made me pack up Sunny, my daughter, Cookie, my older dog, borrow a trailer from my friend, Johnny and head south to Carlsbad, CA to bring my family's business home. Driving with a trailer in tow is an experience that will never be forgotten and an adventure of a lifetime with Sunny and Cookie by my side. It brought tears, laughter, hard work, days of training, and a refreshed bond of family. It’s an emotional journey
