Surigao Norte LGU, NHA ink MOA for Mamanwa housing project By Susil D. Ragas
The local government unit (LGU) of San Francisco and the National Housing Authority (NHA) have recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the construction of the Mamanwa tribal village. According to Mayor Val P. Pinat, the LGU has bought a 1. 5-hectare land to be developed as a housing project for the Mamanwa tribal community. He bared that around 86 Mamanwa families will benefit from the said housing project that will be given to them for free by the government. Mayor Pinat said the Mamanwa tribe comprises 10 percent of the total population of San Francisco town and they are the most vulnerable group among the constituents, “that is why we prioritized them.” “We have already worked out with the

We have also processed the needed requirements so that the money will soon be downloaded to the LGU and then we can proceed immediately with the construction,” Mayor Pinat said. He said that aside from the Mamanwa tribal village, the LGU has also donated space to different national line agencies such as the Bureau of Fire Protection for its Camp Saro office, the provincial office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, 1st Company of the PNP-
Provincial Mobile Force, and the Police Regional Maritime Office. “Our LGU is a 5th class municipality with an almost one-manned office. We really need the help of the national offices. If the provincial or regional offices are located near or much better within the municipal jurisdiction, so the response or assistance will be quick and easy.
