STRANGE BUT TRUE By Lucie Winborne

* A honey badger named Stoffel, resident of a wildlife center in South Africa, was noted not just for repeated escapes from his enclosure, but his stubborn penchant for pursuing much larger animals than himself. After ending up in the clinic after attacking two lions, upon his release, he immediately broke free to attack them again! * The novelty song “Monster Mash” by Bobby Pickett was banned by the BBC for over a decade on the grounds it was too morbid.

PERRYVILLE BATS RALLY PAST ELKTON IN SEVENTH INNING

The Perryville Lady Panthers Softball Team has been on a roller coaster since the season began facing opponents from three different counties and showing they have what it takes to return to the Regional Championship game again this year. After a blistering win 29-5 against Kenwood High School in Baltimore to start the season the Panthers faced Bel Air and lost 2-0 in a tight contest. The Lady Panthers looked to bounce back in their game against

the Elkton Golden Elks but it wouldn’t be a easy win. The Lady Elks came into the contest 2-0 on the season fresh off their 5-4 over Bohemia Manor and were looking to continue their streak over county opponents. The Elks got out in front of the Panthers 4-3 and held on to their lead all the way to the seventh inning when things would take a turn. In the bottom of the seventh inning, with the bases loaded and 2 outs, Kayla

Brustman would end up at the plate as the Panthers last hope to get the win. Kayla’s count was 2-2 when she hit a double and cleared the bases effectively ending the game and giving the Panthers a 5-4 victory over the joyous crowd in attendance. This week the Panthers have a tough schedule facing North Harford followed by County opponents North East and the only undefeated team in the county, the Rising Sun Lady Tigers.

PERRYVILLE NHS BRINGS BACK YEARLY TRADITION FROM PERRYVILLE SCHOOL NHS:

HIGH

In the past, the National Honor Society (NHS), has put on a spring dance for our senior citizens in the community. This is a yearly tradition that we are bringing back this year after being unable to do it for the past two year due to the pandemic. Our NHS students feel it is important to keep our ties to the locals in our community and want to give back. They welcomed seniors, invited them to dance, made polaroid pictures at the photo booth, and served them a catered pasta dinner, and saw a preview of our spring musical, Shrek.
