What’s Happening in Parks & Rec?!
Who else is ready to make this the #BestSummerEver?! Things have really started heating up in the world of O’Fallon Parks & Recreation, and we are beyond excited to see you all throughout the coming months. You better believe we’re ready to ROCK! Our Jammin’ Concert Series is an O’Fallon community favorite for a reason, and with 10 new bands in this year’s lineup, plus some familiar food truck staples, Civic Park is the place to be every Tuesday evening.
Chris Lane and 38 Special are keeping the beat going at this year’s Heritage and Freedom Fest! The festivities start on Saturday, July 1st with our Carnival Kickoff. Make plans to join us for the area’s largest 4th of July celebration featuring tasty treats, carnival fun, mainstage entertainment, vendors, family-friendly activities and more.
If things start to get a little too heated for you, consider cooling off at Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center, which is now officially open for the season! Three water slides, a looooong lazy river, the floating bridge, water playground, whirlpool and splash pad are just a few of the amenities that help ensure your entire family enjoys their day in the sun. Popular events like our Duckie Dive, Mermaids & Mates, Pop Drop, and the Cardboard Boat Races are all back again this year – register soon to guarantee your spot!
O’FallonTheatreWork’s summer production, Radium Girls, is sure to be a hit! Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court. Grace finds herself battling not just with the U.S. Radium Corporation, but with her own family and friends who fear that her campaign for justice will backfire. Tickets are on sale now –make sure to snag yours while they’re still available!
We truly never slow down here in O’Fallon, which is one of the things we love about Parks & Recreation! Whether we’re gearing up for another day camp field trip, or getting a group of volunteer coaches ready for summer T-Ball, this season is our favorite. There are a TON of fun ways for your family to get involved with O’Fallon Parks & Recreation. We can’t wait to see what programs and events you choose to join us for!

Find the right group lessons for your child
To ensure success in the O’Fallon Swim Academy, it’s important to register children for the appropriate level. Children who have participated in the swimming program should register according to the last class successfully completed, moving to the next class or skill level when all skills from the previous level are mastered. Some classes may seem repetitive, but we want swimmers to perfect their skills in order to advance safely, not quickly. Children learn at different paces and it is common to repeat a class.

Each day we will introduce many challenging and exciting games related to these technical skills. Coaches and parents are encouraged to attend each training session not only to watch the kids play and have fun, but to observe and take notes of the drills and games the kids enjoy the most. We pride ourselves on being extremely organized and having top quality instructors with the most up-to-date coaching knowledge.

Jacob Janes
At the O’Fallon City Hall Gallery
September – December
Janes’ artwork celebrates the strengths and possibilities of painting. He enjoys the process of inventing subjects for his compositions, which generally come across as straightforward and poetic. Although Janes’ works look and feel contemporary, they are primarily rooted in modernism and Roman painting.
Courtney Flamm
At the Krekel Civic Center Gallery
September – December
“As an artist, I find endless inspiration in exploring the intricacies of the human experience through portraiture. My ultimate goal as an artist is to pay homage to the rich history of iconic works of art, while also appreciating the experiences that make us human. Through these works, I hope to invite viewers to consider the many layers of human experience and reflect upon the ways in which we are all separate and connected as people.”
Tom Thornberry
At the Renaud Center Gallery
September – December
“I am drawn to the interplay between light and dark, both symbolically and representationally. My work explores the tension between these opposing forces, the push and pull of shadow and illumination, and the ways in which they shape our understanding of the world. Ultimately, my work is an exploration of duality, the constant interplay between opposing forces that shape our experience of the world. I am inspired by the complexity and beauty of this tension, and I strive to capture its essence in my art.”

Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court. Grace finds herself battling not just with the U. S. Radium Corporation, but with her own family and friends who fear that her campaign for justice will backfire. Set mostly in 1920’s New Jersey, D.W. Gregory’s Radium Girls fiercely examines the commercialization of science, the pursuit of both health and wealth, the power of the underdog, and the fierce injustice laborers in America have faced.
