Lindon growing and planning for more By Mike Florence Lindon City Planning & Economic Development Director With all of the setbacks from the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s interesting to look back over the past 18 to 24 months and see the resiliency that has come from the business and development community. Similar to most municipalities, entitlements and construction projects for both commercial and residential only slowed slightly for a time and many businesses saw increases in sales. While the pandemic has been extremely impactful, many commercial

businesses in Lindon seemed to have weathered the time well. Lindon is an innovative community that works hard to respect the city’s past traditions while also having a plan in place for growth and development. While the city has a population of 12,000 residents, the city also has a strong industrial and commercial sector with more than 800 commercial businesses that generate more than 15,000 daily jobs. Over the past five years, developers have constructed approximately two million square feet of office/warehouse space and nearly one million square feet of office and commercial space.

Mike Florence Developers have also constructed more than 450 single family and townhome residential units as well as 44 accessory apartments. One of the new projects that Lindon City has recently worked on or is ready to kick off is a new 700 N. Corridor Master Plan and general plan update. In April 2021, the Lindon City Council adopted the 700 N. Corridor Master Plan. This corridor is envisioned as a gateway to Lindon City and will foster unique experiences where the community can gather. The corridor is envisioned to develop with community spaces, retail, restaurants, an employment center, services and other experiential attractions to create an environment for a live-workplay community. Finally, in April, Lindon City will kick-off the process of updating its General Plan. The General Plan will help plan and guide growth, economic development, transportation and recreation in the community for the next 10 years. The city looks forward to maintaining its unique identity and providing great resources to its residents, businesses and visitors.
