Titles for plots near presidential lodge to be revoked - PS By SILUMESI MALUMO in Kitwe GOVERNMENT has warned it will revoke all the land titles given to individuals near the Presidential guest house in Kitwe. And Government warned that there is a lot of lawlessness in councils where officers report for work drunk but this time around heads will roll. Ministry of Local Government Permanent Secretary, Ed Chomba, said it was unacceptable for people to issue plots near the Presidential Guest House as areas where the President was found needed to be protected. Bishop Chomba said this kind of behaviour would not be tolerated and he would ensure that the titles were revoked. He said that it was cardinal for people to respect the Presidency, therefore, all the titles were null and void. "I know people have been given land near the Presidential Guest House, this is unacceptable but let me tell you I am revoking the titles tomorrow (today). Let's learn to respect the Presidency, that area should not be tempered at all," he said. Meanwhile Bishop Chomba said lawlessness among the workers was negatively affecting service delivery which would no longer be the case. Speaking when he addressed Kitwe City Council workers yesterday, Bishop Chomba said he would not allow indiscipline among workers in the councils as he was eager to see areas where workers operate from develop. He said those who come drunk and those promoting laziness in work places would be kicked out so that sanity prevailed.

CONSULT, NEVERS COUNSELS ECZ as councillors after an outcry from stakeholders. The ECZ announced it had reduced presidential nomination fees from K150, 000 to K100, 000. Dr Mumba said whether the nomination fees were high or not it was important that political players were consulted at every turn. "I think they should consult us so that we understand whatever is going on. It's not the question of being too high or too little it's an issue of consultation. "I really don't know about these reduced nomination fees, as MMD we did not get any formal communication from ECZ, so my advice is that they should know the importance of consulting people affected," Dr Mumba said.
