VINCENT’S LETTER A monthly message from your Lieutenant Governor What’s splashing, D04E? We’re finally halfway through the year, and although it has been a rocky start to the term, I know that you guys are doing an amazing job. There are so many different service opportunities and events to partake in throughout quarantine, so make sure to utilize all of those events to rack up hours and meet new people! Within this last month, we held Region 3’s annual Officer Training Conference on Zoom. The event was a humongous success with over 500 officers across Orange County attending to learn more about their officer positions and how to best grow as a leader. If you learned anything new, make sure to apply those ideas and skills into your term, so that you can leave an even greater legacy than you thought possible. As always, if you ever need help, feel free to text me or any other LTG/DLT member because we are all here to help you grow!

In terms of the upcoming month, make sure to set up Core Calls and Club Visitations with me if you would like to get some input on your club growth as well as if you’d like me to answer any questions you have regarding Key Club. Furthermore the DLT and the Presidents will be releasing a Dare Bingo Card online in order to raise funds for PTP. If you’ve ever wanted to embarrass your friends on DLT or on the club board, while donating to PTP, look forward to this fundraiser! Finally, continue to look out for the division service events as well as all of the opportunities that you home club offers. We are almost reaching 1,000 service hours as a Division so we are on the right track towards our Division goal of 5,500. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let me know! Let’s make those big GAINS!!

Swimming into service, Vincent Vu

AMBER’S LETTER A monthly message from your Division News Editor Hi, everyone! Once again, its’ your DNE! I hope everyone is still doing alright and staying safe! I’m sure you all scored well on your AP Exams too J. To be honest, I’m just glad it’s over! With everything that’s been going on, I encourage you guys to continue your efforts in keeping you clubs strong and active. I know it’s difficult, but do try your best! Alright, so onto the newsletter; July has been a pretty active month for many of our clubs despite still not being able to hold many events. I’m really happy to hear about the different activities that you guys are holding from your clubs’ respective bulletin editors! Shout out to them for their hard work, since what they do only makes these newsletters look better!

Check out what our division and what each of our clubs have been doing in these next pages. We have a lot in store, and we have many more events and activities coming out soon. Get ready! Lastly, I helped out our Division Tech Editor, Tyler Tran, this past month in creating a brand new Division Website! Isn’t that awesome? This website includes beautiful photo galleries, announcements, and important reminders. Anything that you need can be found on it. It’s something that will be updated constantly, and you can even view my newsletters on the website too! Be sure to check it out later! The link to the Division Website can be found on the next page!

Wishing you all the best, Amber Dang

A T O G ! E E V ’ T I E S W B H C E E T W R U N O A W Y R DE B ER T NE MA R TYL TO I D E

http://d04egoldfish.org/ Hey everyone! My name is Tyler Tran, and I serve as your Division Tech Editor. This website is a huge insight into what my job as Tech Editor entails and what I’ve been up to since I was admitted onto DLT. Every single aspect of this website was built by me and was co-designed by myself and our DNE, Amber Dang. Key Club is so exciting but also complex. Due to that complexity, members often become lost due to the amount of forms that they have to fill out, they may not always know when division events occur, and they probably don’t know what every acronym in the Key Club dictionary means. That’s where the key club website comes into play. On our website, you’ll find all the dates of our current and upcoming service events, find all the forms to RSVP for our future events, and also learn more about how Key Club works in general.

The website is designed to eliminate much of the confusion. In addition, the website will always be maintained on a regular basis. So you can always guarantee if there are any upcoming announcements, then they will all be posted on the website. Once again, the purpose of the website is to provide you with another way to continue to serve others. Together, let’s keep swimming into service!

OTC A JUN ND ED HOW C WA M EXP S YO U E R RIE NCE ?

The 2020 Officer Training Conference was definitely an experience unlike I’ve ever had. I expected it to be boring, but it was actually pretty fun and funny especially with the love notes. The LTG’s were really good at keeping everyone engaged, and my home club officers were able to learn a lot. — Kady Hong | El Modena My experience at OTC was extremely positive. I participated in the treasurer's and fundraising workshop and learned a lot about dues payments and how the monetary management side of Key Club works. The LTGs’ were super informative and helpful with the entire process. Even though it wasn’t the OTC I had planned for, it was still an extremely memorable experience — Tyler Tran | Foothill My experience at the OTC was pretty eventful because it was my first one! I thought it was very helpful for me to understand my role as vice president and secretary of my club. It was a great time to bond with everyone from different regions. I especially enjoyed listening to the letters that everyone wrote to one another! — Katelyn Kim| OSCA

OTC was, as always, extremely informative! Although there were lagging issues, and it was sometimes difficult to separate everyone into different rooms under such a small time period, the LTGs’ handled it well. I could personally tell that they put a lot of effort into making sure it would go smoothly and having the members enjoy themselves while being educated on their positions. If there were any issues the LTGs’ seemed to be able to resolve it soon enough without making too big of an awkward break and gave us a lot of information on how we could improve ourselves and our individual clubs or divisions. Even though I was quite tired that day, I still found myself really enjoying OTC and the information (and friends!) that I got out of it! — Isabelle Tran | Villa Park This year was my first year at OTC, and I never expected it to be online. It was nice to meet the new LTG’s and other officers! Choosing from the many workshops to attend was fun. In the workshops, it was exciting to learn new things about Key Club and my position. Although we couldn’t meet in person, I was still able to make new friends through the Zoom Call Chat, which was very cool! It was a fun experience even thought it was online, and I hope to have an in-person OTC next year! — Nina Le | Canyon I had a really great time at this year’s OTC! Although it wasn’t like the annual OTC, the virtual experience was something just as fun, if not more fun! I really enjoyed the workshops I attended. I was really impressed with how everything flowed so smoothly as well. The LTGs’ did a fantastic job making this OTC unforgettable! — Gillian Pascual| Villa Park The year’s OTC was one to remember. Not only was it online for the very first time, but it was my first OTC as well! I was able to learn valuable tips from both the publicist and communications break out rooms. There were so many new faces that I was able to see, and it overall was a nice experience. Hopefully, I will be able to attend the event in person next time! — Tyler Vu| Canyon

ARK

On June 27, 2020, over 30 people from around the division gathered onto a Zoom meeting to make cute dog toys! All that was required were a handy pair of scissors and an old T-shirt to participate. The goal was to make as many toys as possible to donate. From 2:00-3:00pm, everyone sat and started cutting up their shirts to braid into toys. The instructions to make each toy were simple and easy to understand. To start off, the shirt would be cut up into narrow 1-2 inch strips. Once the shirt was all cut up, you would take three strands to tie together into a braid and that’s all there is to making a fun toy for dogs! Throughout the service event, music was playing in the background and members were able to socialize, which made the event more exciting. Many members had their cameras on as well.

7

Despite not being able to meet and experience a typical service event, having a virtual service event was just as amazing and fun. These braided dog toys will be taken once quarantine and social distancing are halted, and given to local dog shelters!

COLOR A SMILE

Diego Sahagun | Foothill

The division event focused on cheering up many by sending them colored drawings. Our club participated in this in a group as we decided it would have made for a better Key Club event to do it together. Coloring different drawings was done to ensure variety in what we sent. Members were to print out outlines of drawings to use crayons or other coloring tools to make them full of life to give people a nice image to look at during these bleak times.

VILLA PARK

Villa Park Key Club is always known for being an exceptional club on multiple different standards. They are a club that does their best to go above and beyond, even during a crisis like this. I have attended their general meeting this month, and I can tell that they are well prepared and informed. Their communication skills are definitely far from lacking, and I can see that their officers are all hardworking. Continue doing your best to make our division even stronger, and I’m proud of your hard work this month. — Lieutenant Governor Vincent Vu

Officer:

JOLYN LE | VILLA PARK

A bulletin editor’s job is to send me articles and visuals every month, summarizing and recapping the events and activities that their home clubs have done. Jolyn has been doing an extraordinary job doing just that! Her articles are so beautifully put together and her work never fails to exceed my requirements and expectations. Not only is her work amazing, she has also been turning in her articles and visuals by the early bird due date for the past few months. I must applaud her for this! I’m really proud, and I hope that you continue working hard! — Division News Editor Amber Dang
