Multiscalar approach How did we build up our strategy? What scales did we look at?
At first, we wanted to understand the region as a whole. Therefore, we started with analysing it on the mega scale, regional scale and its importance and influence on the global scale. Then we identified different characters of the region and went further in its exploration through smaller scales. The strategies we came up with answered the challenges specific to particular scales. At the regional level, we identified and proposed predominant axes. For the macro scale, we chose the area of Nansha as an exemplary area and defined networks of attractions and development. From there, we dived into the meso scale showing three areas of different characters, namely urban, peri-urban and rural area. In each of them, we showed different interventions and initiatives in local scale - micro scale.
