On New Year’s Eve, the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest man-made structure at 828 metres, will feature a cutting-edge laser and firework show illuminating the Dubai skyline with numerous dazzling beams, and establishing a new world record for the largest laser display.
And this early, dining venues near and around the spectacular tower, have been announcing dinner specials from AED750 per person to AED5,000 for a premium package.
Among the high-end, fine-dining restaurants is the stunning, Lucia’s located in Downtown Dubai with its Capri-inspired terrace, which offers a vantage point to marvel at the Burj Khalifa.
“(Lucia’s) is the most wonderful place to celebrate the festive season. It melds excellent food, great atmosphere, and a breathtaking setting,” the restaurant management said in a statement released through a reputable public relations firm.
Lucia’s offers a “Giorno Rosso New Year’s Eve Party” with a set menu for AED 750 per person.
“Guests will be blown away by the Burj Khalifa fireworks, as they will have front row seats on Lucia’s terrace!”
Meantime, Kata, a contemporary Japanese restaurant, which has just recently opened in The Dubai Mall, has three options – indoors, on the terrace, or at the exclusive promenade setting.
In a similar announcement, Kata said the indoor house package, which has no access to the promenade is at AED1,500 per person; premium package is AED2,000.
The terrace package, which also has no access to the promenade, is at AED2,200 and AED2,800 respectively for house and premium packages.
The promenade package, which seats 40 people and has an unrestricted view of the fireworks display is at AED4,000 and AED5,000 per person respectively for house and premium packages.
Kata’s family-friendly showcase starts at 7pm on December 31st with guests receiving a welcome mocktail to get the party started.
The set menu will take diners on a culinary journey of note. There will be an amuse-bouche to welcome guests before a range of delicious appetisers and snacks such as a seaweed salad and chicken karaage and assorted signature sashimi. Then it’s onto the mains of baked Chilean seabass, truffle tenderloin and miso cauliflower steak. The evening’s menu is capped off perfectly with a choice of two KATA special desserts - the extravagant Balloonium or Oishi chocolate. The creative and bold menu was designed by award-winning Executive Chef Ricardo Bojador from the Philippines.
An Emaar media release, citing a senior company representative, stated that the New Year’s Eve celebrations “will feature a laser show that will astonish guests in Downtown Dubai as well as an estimated 1 billion viewers around the world.”
“Burj Khalifa by Emaar and the Dubai night sky will be illuminated by numerous dazzling beams, establishing a new world record for the largest laser display. The 828-metre Burj Khalifa by Emaar will also be the captivating centrepiece of a state-of-the-art laser performance that will see light beams travel the longest distance ever recorded.”
In addition to the cutting-edge light show at Burj Khalifa by Emaar, there will be a spectacular firework display above Dubai to welcome the new year.
A mesmerising, synchronised performance by The Dubai Fountain at the base of Burj Khalifa by Emaar is certain to be a crowd-pleaser, too. Kata has breathtaking views of The Dubai Fountain. Since 2010, the renowned pyrotechnic display has been an integral part of the UAE’s world-famous New Year’s Eve celebrations, and 2022 will be no exception.

Launching today, Elemental Perception brings together five world-renowned artists: Julio Le Parc, Blair Thurman, Jan Kalab, Miguel Chevalier, JeanBaptiste Bernadet at Galloire in City Walk, Dubai. These artists collectively manipulate geometric forms, and utilise colour and light to evoke a fundamental response from, and innate connection with the viewer. The works invite one to intuit; to see by sense: They prompt us to consider the organic and the machine, our path from primordial soup to our technology-driven tomorrow, and whilst some of the works invite us to revel in pure beauty and our romantic dreams of youth, they also challenge us to ponder our ultimate trajectory of decay.
This exhibition is a regional-first for Julio Le Parc, master and pioneer of Op Art and Kinetic Art. In a selection of key pieces within the show, we see the range of his oeuvre across paintings and immersive installations. His seminal work fosters the ability to intertwine the observer with the art, where the spectators are amalgamated into the creative process. This ability to engage the eye and trigger different reactions is something that perpetuates through the exhibition.
Leading art writer, Nadine Khalil says “While he stands out as the most eminent artist in Galloire’s current group show, his work traces a historical trajectory from which springs a shared language of light as movement and form. Throughout Elemental Perception, a grammar of perceptual fields by five artists interrogates our relationship with an external world that is in constant flux. With these different drafts on how we see and what we see, the primacy of the naked eye is evident, as well as an understanding of the technologies of sight - insofar as what we see fluctuates before our eyes. In the exhibition are not just singular, chromatic objects; there are compositions that change according to our presence in the spaces around them.”
Exploring the exhibition, one moves from the monumental geometric paintings of Blair Thurman, resonating with memories and fascinations of childhood, to the brightly coloured works of Jean-Baptiste Bernadet which have us reflecting, within their abstraction, on impressionist sunsets, winding rivers and quaint villages seen from the hillside.
At one moment, the computer-induced logic of
hybridization, architectural fantasies and virtual cities emerge, created by digital art forerunner, Miguel Chevalier. Particularly in Dubai, his MetaCities work captivates as it straddles questions of urbanization, ever-taller towers and the looming buzz of the Metaverse. The seeming coldness of Chevalier’s rigid neon lines finds an antidote in the joyful colours and organic curving forms of Jan Kalab’s three-dimensional paintings. Here we see creation, cell division, biological life and a wider universe, expanding endlessly.
And so, the exhibition allows one to chart a path through wonderous uses of colour, form and light by some of today’s leading artists. They are innovators and explorers of perception, just as Julio Le Parc himself reflects on his work with his early collaborators Francisco Sobrino, Francois Morellet and the like: “We started with the experience of the person looking and then, from there, participation was solicited little by little with other experiences until it was an active and reflexive participation.”
The 2022 Icons of Porsche festival has cemented itself as the Middle East’s premier automotive exhibition after an enormous crowd attended this year’s event.
Over 15,000 people from across the region attended the festival over two days last weekend, more than doubling last year’s two-day crowd of over 7,000 people.
This year’s festival was themed as the ‘Icons of Porsche, Safari Edition’, aligning with the taste for
off-road adventure of fans and enthusiasts from the Middle East region.
The second staging of the popular festival was held at ‘The Slab’ in the Dubai Design District (D3) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on 26 and 27 November 2022, beside the spectacular skyline of downtown Dubai.
The expanded 31,000 square foot site hosted over 1,100 Porsche vehicles, over 150 of these classics, displayed amongst five different zones, each presenting a different theme and catering for the
diverse audience in attendance.
The 2023 edition of the Icons of Porsche festival, which will celebrate 75 years of Porsche sportscars, is planned to be held on 18-19 November 2023.
The festival hosted the regional premiere of the 911 Dakar, 911 GT3 RS and 911 Sport Classic

Everyone has their own definition of success. For some, this word may be a huge term, but for others, even small goals achieved may be considered successful. It is a word that many people desire in their lives, but it must be accompanied by a larger-than-life goal and loads of determination.
For Niranjan Gidwani, an Indian national who has lived in the UAE for over 30 years, success is defined by his personal vision and mission statement. It is the ability to rise above the immediate pain of any given situation. It all comes down to imagination. It is about being sensitive to both large and small people. It is about fostering inclusion, being connected to a larger world existence, and giving back more to life than one wishes to take.
Niranjan is currently a Consultant Director, Board Advisor, Member of the UAE Superbrands Council, and a member of the HBR Advisory Council. He is also a board advisor to a new B2B ecommerce TEXUB. Recently, he has also been invited to be a founder member of a new society being formed under the auspices of the UAE authorities. Niranjan is a mechanical engineer and a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing. He was a state rank holder in school boards and a Government of India National Merit Scholar for six years in a row. His working career began in 1982 and he has worked for a total of 40 plus years. He has always held the belief that financial gain should only be a product of his work, and need not necessarily be the be-all and end-all in life.
Niranjan spent the first eight years of his career in Mumbai, India, and New Delhi, India. He then moved to Hong Kong, where he worked for a few years before being transferred to Dubai in 1992. He has been based in Dubai since then, with brief 2-year stints in Germany and Singapore.
His previous positions have been with large multinational corporations such as SKF bearings, HSBC, and Xerox in India, as well as large transnational groups, a Government of China enterprise, and a Singapore-listed group. Niranjan’s most recent 14-year assignment was as CEO of Eros Group in Dubai. With the full support of the owners, his boss, his team, the Group was built it into a billion-dollar enterprise and one of the most reputable consumer electronics, appliances, and mobile distributor and retailer in the GCC region.
“My work has allowed me to travel on a frequent basis to 59 countries covering all continents. My main area of specialization has been the consumer durables industry, mainly electronics, appliances, mobiles and digital convergence products,” he said.
When Dubai Vibes Magazine asked him what he likes about his current job, he said that work is a part of his life, a passion, and a hobby for him as long as the environment is conducive. He has never accepted the concept of retirement. Simply re-directing one’s occupational goals.
“My most gratifying part about my entire work life also has been; taking talent on a regular basis and investing loads of time to ensure that a majority of them move up the ladder as future leaders, leaving a legacy at work which is better than the one I inherited,” Niranjan added.
Niranjan, like any other successful person, faced major challenges in life that strengthened him. He comes from a middle-class family with very strong values. His parents and two elder sisters lived a very frugal, tough existence until he started working at the age of 24. There were far too many struggles, and funds were always far insufficient to meet even basic needs.
His parents, he claims, taught him to live a life of dignity and respect. He and his siblings learned how important it is to stay grounded, to live with a universally accepted set of values, by watching them. His family Guru and his father made him read the Holy Quran in English at a young age in order to have a more inclusive outlook on life.
An event in his life that shook him up, and tried to bring him down was the two years of Covid, during which everything was affected. He lost many friends, relatives, and associates, leaving him scarred even to this day.
During the peak of the covid pandemic, out of the blue, one day after the 75-day lockdown period in Dubai ended, he was asked to step down from his role of CEO. His company owners, who have always been like family to him, wanted their sons to take over. For Niranjan, all corporate decisions, no matter how painful they are for him, must be respected. Till this day, he enjoys extremely cordial relations with the owners’ entire family and all his ex-bosses and colleagues.
Since the decision was a major setback and turning point in his life, he thought a little, and then took a call and decided to spend the first 18 months working pro bono and assisting the truly unfortunate as a small way to repay this city for what it has given him.
“My wife, children, sisters, in-laws, and several very close friends and work associates have always stood by me as pillars of strength. I owe a lot to each of them.”
By nature, this man is extremely disciplined. He always ensures that everything is in balance. As much as possible, he does not like to keep anyone waiting, as his belief is that he has no right to steal someone else’s time. Of what use is it to wear the most expensive watch and not be mindful of someone else’s time.
He enjoys traveling with his family to see new places, try new cuisines, and set a weekly walking and stretch exercises goal for himself. His other interests include reading, music, watching movies and cricket. Recently, he has taken up writing on subjects of business, marketing, corporate governance, leadership and mentoring. His articles now get frequently published in Indian and Gulf publications.
Niranjan states that he has never led an extravagant or ostentatious life, and that he never pursued purely material gains. Make no mistake about it. Money is very important to him and his family, but it must be a byproduct of hard work rather than an end game in and of itself.
Actually, his ultimate goal is to stay as close to and happy with his loved ones as possible, and to prioritize family and friends. Finally, he stated that he considers himself fortunate that his family is always by his side to support him. From his side, Niranjan’s life policy has been that he will never give up on any relationships he has built along the way, no matter how difficult or how many misunderstanding may occur. He does realise that a fair amount of reciprocation is a must for good relationships to flourish.
One of the most important lessons a person should learn is to believe in themselves. According to Carla Cristina Cyrino, a Brazilian General and Cosmetic Dentist at Cornerstone Clinic, this philosophy means that whatever job a person does, they should give their all to complete the task. Believing in yourself, in your dream, in your ability to achieve your goals, and honoring your choices are all significant.
This woman with a smile was born in the countryside of Sao Paulo, Brazil where she spent her childhood and early adulthood. She recalls a wonderful childhood filled with joy, health, and happy memories. She spent her time in school, piano lessons, ballet, gymnastics, and weekends at the coffee farm during that time.
Carla said, “Given my fascination with dentistry from an early age, I already knew the names of the instruments and procedure techniques when I started university. I felt that every day at the university was a great accomplishment, therefore those years seemed to fly by quite quickly. I graduated in December 1993 and by February 1994 I was already working in my own practice and also for the local municipality, taking care of the oral health of low-income children.”
She was invited to work in Lisbon, Portugal, the following year. She took the offer and relocated to Portugal. It was an incredible experience, and she was soon able to realize a long-held dream of owning her own clinic in Europe. During her
24 years in Lisbon, she specialized in various areas of dentistry by taking several courses and participating in many national and international congresses, always on the lookout for new technologies to better serve her patients.
Carla has 29 years of professional experience and can tell you that her passion for dentistry is as strong as it was when she first started. Seeing each patient’s satisfaction and self-esteem restored is still her greatest joy and professional accomplishment.
Her happiness is founded on the word smile. Smile is important to her vision because it breaks down barriers and connects people who may not speak the same language. According to her, bringing a smile to someone’s face is her main motivation, and she is happy to help those in need because she believes that we all come into this life with a purpose, and if she can make someone’s life better. She intends to do her part.
She is always saying how much she enjoys her job, and she believes that her patients can tell. Her main interest in dentistry is undoubtedly aesthetics. Cosmetic dentistry entails a variety of procedures. For example, simple tooth whitening can often restore her patient’s smile. However, in order to have a more harmonious smile, it is sometimes necessary to strengthen the teeth with Invisalign.
Giving her patients’ self-esteem back makes her completely satisfied in her profession. Carla’s greatest satisfaction up to this point has been seeing her patients smile with joy at their new smile.
When Dubai Vibes Magazine asked her about her everyday struggles, she said, “What I have seen throughout all these years is that there are constantly more professionals who seem not to follow the ethics of our labor, which is to treat patients in the best possible manner by using solely high quality materials.”
For example, she frequently sees patients who have serious and visible dental problems that are the result of poor planning and execution of the popular “Smile Makeover” idea.
Some people still look for the cheapest deal to get the smile of their dreams, but what she sees in reality is a nightmare. It saddens and frustrates her to see some patients in pain, with abscesses, and frequently losing their teeth as a result of poor procedures.
She has lived in Dubai for nearly five years. She has been here as a tourist before, and she has been captivated by the culture and its beauty since her first visit in 2007.
“I feel embraced by Dubai and every day I am appreciative that this is my home. Living and
working in Dubai has definitely been an amazing experience while surrounded by several different nationalities and cultures- truly amazing,” she said.
She went on to say that Dubai has welcomed her with open arms, and she is grateful! The people are friendly and helpful, and she enjoys living in the beautiful emirate. She also stated that she would never choose another city over Dubai. Dubai has a distinct vibe all its own.
Carla said that the family for her is the basis of everything. Despite the fact that they are separated by distance from Brazil, they remain very close and united.
Her dream is for them to live a prosperous life full of health and joyous moments together. It warms her heart and makes her happy to see her family happy.
Her plans for the future are to continue where she is. “ I live in a lovely city, work in a spectacular clinic at Cornerstone Clinic, take care of my health with balanced diet and exercise. And lastly, to continue bringing joy to my patients and to serve them better and better is my professional aspiration for the future.
Coming from the Middle East, I didn’t have much information about the US healthcare system, which is very different from Egypt and the UAE (where I used to work).”
“So, to be able to integrate myself into this system, when I was looking for a medical school, I found many graduates from SGU matched with US hospitals.,” says Dr. Ahmed Hussein, alumni of St. George’s University Medical School in Grenada.
After starting his career in pharmacy, he soon realized that he wanted to make a greater difference in the lives of patients and decided to try and follow his dream of becoming a doctor in the United States.
“We can all be helpful to the vulnerable, but being on the frontline, diagnosing and treating patients, was my main drive to pursue medicine,” he says.
He reveals that after much consideration and research, he started his application process to SGU’s School of Medicine. “Which was seamless,” he says, citing the availability of people to contact and discuss all elements of the process – from questions and aid queries to simple reassurance.
“When I got the news about my acceptance, I felt that I was about to embark on a new journey that would require hard work, day in and day out, to reach my destination: MD in the United States.”
“Once there, I particularly enjoyed the extracurricular selectives offered by SGU, such as dissection and wilderness medicine. I also discovered that SGU supports students in their preparation for the US Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). The modules taught
and tested during the basic science years are very detailed. I was provided with all the tools that I needed to do well in standardised exams, such as DES (Department of Educational Services) facilitators who helped me set up study schedules, go over materials that I didn’t grasp well, and many other things.”
In addition to the varied and in-depth academic syllabus, there were opportunities to fully embrace SGU campus life. “The new campus gym and the intramural soccer league were my favourites.”
“And the beach! And I can’t forget the beautiful sunsets,” he adds, laughing.
Following basic sciences, he did his first clinical rotation at Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York. “I had a wonderful experience rotating between different departments. Also, I met the love of my life in this hospital, who is currently my wife. So, this place will always be memorable,” he says.
He explains that it wasn’t all plain sailing, and the matching process was stressful. This is where you apply for a role of interest, and you get matched with a participating hospital or facility if there’s a vacancy.
“I tried to prepare as much as I could mentally by reaching out for advice from recent graduates, and the Office of Career Guidance (OCG) and Student Support at St. George’s University helped me a lot.”
His advice is to have a game plan to tackle the application process and interview season for Match Days. “But I was provided with assistance
while still in Grenada. SGU’s Office of Career Guidance provided me with a framework for filling out the application and my CV, and they provided reviews before the submission date. In addition, my clinical site had mentors that tailored their advice based on my Step 1 grades, clinical performance, and the specialty I was applying for.”
Dr. Hussein says he didn’t believe it when he learned he had matched with his dream position in paediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center Program in New York. “I kept checking the National Residency Matching Program website every five minutes to be sure.”
However, he believes that once he graduated, the transition from student to MD is an ongoing process. “One thing I learned quickly in med school is you’ll never ‘feel’ 100 percent prepared for an exam or patient encounter during clinical rotations. However, I channelled this self-doubt to do my best, analyze my shortcomings, and try to address them before my next exam or patient encounter. With the same mindset, I tackled my first block of residency. It’s a lifetime journey of learning and it begins by being open to self, peer, and supervisor appraisals.
For students from the Middle East and North Africa looking to practice medicine in the US, he wouldn’t hesitate to recommend SGU. “Grenada is a wonderful island that accepts students from all over the globe and luckily for us (Egyptians) it doesn’t require a visa application process. In addition, in my experience, SGU was successful in matching me into the US healthcare system which was ultimately my goal.
Among all of our senses, it is always our eyes that serve as a window into everything. According to an Indian optometrist and Co-owner of Super Vision Dr. Javed Ansari, the eye is the most beautiful thing in our body and should be taken care of at all times.
Dr. Javed moved to Abu Dhabi as an optometrist and worked there for a while before returning to India. After a few years, he returned to the UAE in 2019 to settle and work for another company. He was in various loops until he managed and settled his career in his own company.
His first job in India, he claims, was for a contact lens company. He also visited one of the best optical stores in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He was the first Indian optometrist to obtain a practice license after passing his licensure exam at the time.
He still treats himself as a member of his own company’s staff as part of the administration. Despite the fact that he is one of the owners, he believes that he should put in some effort, enjoy his job, and work hard just like any other employee. For Dr. Javed, becoming a servantleader should be part of an owner’s mindset.
“So, if you love your job, if you love your profession, you should make time to work with it. Being an owner does not qualify you as a boss in my opinion. At the end of the day, I’m still an optometrist,” he explained.
In 2013, Dr. Javed married. He had a beautiful daughter in 2014, who was born in the UAE. After two years, his family was blessed once more with the birth of his son in 2016. He is a wonderful father to his children.
When asked about his hobbies, he told Dubai Vibes Magazine that one of them is traveling. He enjoys traveling to new places with his family. He can drive on his own for 2,000 kilometers. That is why he enjoys traveling so much.
In response to his question about the definition of success, he stated that there is no definition of it. Everyone interprets it differently. But, according to him, a person should fight for his or her success every day, and that practice can help us achieve our daily goals.
Managing for him entails attempting to create a harmonious and friendly environment. Having around 13 employees is not an easy task for him, but with a good working environment, everything becomes easier. He claims that if his staff contacts him, he will eventually respond, even if it is late at night.
“What I am so proud of, even though my staff came from different nationalities, we still respect each other, and we do have coordination. As the owner, I treat all of my employees fairly,” Dr. Javed stated.
When asked about his goals and what he still wants to achieve, he told Dubai Vibes Magazine, “As a businessman, his goal is to achieve something different. It is not intended to reduce
people’s luxury, but rather to make everyone aware of their eye health. If they can spend so much money on luxurious items, they should realize that their eyes are far more important and valuable.”
His advocacy to raise awareness about eye health defines his success. Dr. Javed wishes to leave a
legacy that emphasizes the importance of caring for one of our most important senses, the eyes. He wants to address this one to the parents, especially the kids who are exposed to playing games for long periods of time on mobile screens.
The power of a smile is undeniable. It can evoke feelings of goodwill, rapport, and trust, leaving both the person smiling and the recipient feeling good. This simple act is considered by many to be one of the most effective tools for spreading positivity and boosting confidence.
Dr. Mohamed Arif, a leading Indian orthodontist and the proprietor of the Aysha Mohamed Dental Clinic, holds this belief close to his heart. As an orthodontist , he finds great joy in seeing the positive impact his work has on his patients, bringing smiles to their faces.
According to Dr. Mohamed Arif life should be approached with gratitude and contentment. He encourages everyone to take a moment to appreciate what they have and to feel proud of their accomplishments. By doing so, they too can spread joy and positivity through their own smiles.
Dr. Mohamed has built a distinguished career through his commitment and passion for the field of dentistry. He began his academic journey in 2001, when he earned his Bachelor of Dentistry degree from Annamalai University in Chennai, India.
His pursuit of knowledge and expertise in the field continued with a Master’s degree in Orthodontics from the MGR Medical University in Chennai, which he received in 2005. During his studies, he was honoured with the Best Postgraduate Student Award, a recognition of his exceptional abilities
and achievements.
After completing his Master’s degree, Dr. Mohamed honed his skills under the guidance of a mentor at a prestigious dental hospital in Chennai. In 2009, he was appointed as the clinical head and professor in the department of orthodontics at Ibn Sina Medical College and Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he served for four years.
In 2013, Dr. Mohamed made the move to Dubai, continuing his dedication to providing the highest quality of dental care to his patients. He has seen significant growth in his patient base since opening his clinic in Deira in 2019. Originally serving a few hundred patients with paper charts, he has since served thousand of people in Dubai.
Before opening his clinic, Dr. Mohamed worked as the Medical Director at the Karama Medical Centre, where his duties included recruiting and managing medical and non-medical staff, overseeing the facility’s operations, and assisting with staff training and promotion.

The best thing about business nowadays is that young entrepreneurs, in addition to earning money from their companies, provide new flavors in the business world. Kate Darling, a 30-year-old Australian resident of Dubai for the past seven years, believes that in addition to having a business, an owner should have a strong desire to change the industry in terms of sustainability.
THT-That Hair Tho was founded by Kate. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Business with a major in Marketing. She has always had a passion for entrepreneurship and innovation, which was one of her favorite university subjects. She began working at a young age in Australia. Her family instilled in her a strong work ethic, where if they wanted to buy something, they had to work for it.
Kate worked after graduating from high school. Kate worked in department stores for L’Oreal and LVMH, where she learned a lot about sales and training in the beauty industry. When she was 19, she also opened her first business, an executive fitness gym in Adelaide.
“When I turned 21, I wanted to travel abroad so I moved to Macau and worked in the world’s biggest casino, The Venetian Hotel Macau. After this experience I travelled for almost two years around the world which finally led me to Dubai,” she said.
Her proudest achievement and career highlight has been the establishment of THT-The Hair Tho. Her dream has always been to be able
to start a business that has a positive impact on the industry. Her salon was also the first to only support cruelty-free and environmentally friendly brands.
Her company, she claims, focuses on community and initiatives that benefit the community. One of the most popular initiatives was “Show your Nanny some Love,” in which That Hair Tho provided free haircuts and blow dries to UAE nannies and domestic workers.
Others included a skydive ticket for someone fighting breast cancer. During the Covid pandemic, the salon also assisted anyone who had been affected by job loss or illness.
Kate had held various positions in the workplace, but she had not felt professionally fulfilled until she embarked on her entrepreneurial journey. Her professional career has truly excelled in the development of successful businesses, and she frequently spends her time thinking about and creating new business ideas, as well as focusing on developing strategies for current business operations.
Her heart and kindness drive her success. She is also passionate about creating a positive work environment where team members are treated like family, and this is reflected in the clientele, who always feels energized and free to feel at ease in the salon.
She also added, “I am extremely passionate about charity and creating initiatives that support the community. Being able to give back to the place that has given me so much is important to me.”
Coming to Dubai without knowing anyone, according to Kate, was difficult before she achieved success. Finding a supportive network and loyal friends in a temporary location can be difficult. She had moments when she wanted to leave, but she always felt she had more to do in Dubai. She felt more secure and inspired to stay after establishing a business and receiving support from women’s business networks, and she now can’t imagine leaving.
When Dubai Vibes Magazine asked about her ultimate dream, she said that “My ultimate dream is to be able to provide great working environments and create more innovative business. Being able to raise more awareness to sustainable operations of businesses which in turn allows me to continue to develop initiatives for different communities and charities.”
Lastly, settling in Dubai is already a part of her life. She has no plans to leave Dubai. She does not yet have children, but she knows from many friends that it is an excellent place to raise them. It’s also a fantastic hub for female entrepreneurs, as it provides a great support system and infrastructure for them to stay and build longterm businesses.
Valerie Reynaert: Seeing the beauty in everything brings greatest joy.
When someone wants to help others, all they have to do is take the initiative and create a platform for their voice to be heard. Every person has their own advocacy in life that aims to build, uplift, and improve lives. Everyone is naturally generous and sacrificial; the challenge is finding the right time and platform to put the goodness within into action.
Being able to walk the journey with people and see them achieve their goals and take their businesses to the next level is the most rewarding feeling for an empowered woman like Valerie Reynaert, the Founder and CEO of beauty consulting platform, VR Beauty Consulting.
Valarie was born and raised in Belgium, where she studied Economics, Modern Languages, and Law before beginning her career in the beauty industry in 2000. She studied beauty therapy at Lise Loriot in Belgium, specializing in facials, nails, slimming, and body treatments, which led her to Dubai’s exciting and thriving beauty scene. She earned a Master’s degree in Marketing from Middlesex University in Dubai in 2013.
Valarie considered the emirates her home for the past 20 years, and she has enjoyed watching it grow and evolve. Every dream, she believes, is achievable in this emirate with hard work and determination. Dubai has enabled her to work with extraordinary people while also fulfilling her personal dream of starting a business.
Valarie founded her company with the intention of assisting current beauty salon owners in the region in achieving breakthrough success in the industry by leveraging best practices from the
salon floor all the way up to the director level.
Trusting the process
When she first arrived in the Middle East in 2003, her first job was as a training manager for Nazih Trading, one of the region’s largest cosmetic distributors. In 2007, she was appointed General Manager of Soothe Group, where she oversaw a slew of reputable salons. After three years, she became the General Manager of Formul’A Hair and Beauty Academy and VOG Color Your Life Salons before becoming the Brand Director of Nayomi Beauty Salons Middle East at Kajamjoom.
“This is where I feel I learnt my knack for business. In 2017, I became International Business Development Director at The Grooming Company Holding and Managing Director at Sisters Beauty Lounge, JetSet and Trevor Sorbie Dubai,” she said.
When Dubai Vibes Magazine asked her about her daily struggles in the industry, she stated that everyone faces struggles in life, whether in personal or professional life, but she is a firm believer that how someone responds to those struggles defines who the person is.
She once worked for a company that was wellknown and respected in the beauty industry. She was overjoyed to accept the role with them and approached it with enthusiasm and the desire to succeed. However, she began to notice something over time. The company culture was diametrically opposed to her own, and she struggled to hold on.
She added, “This struggle wore me down every day and I had to make a very difficult decision.
After several years of exponentially growing the business and achieving what everyone would describe as success, I decided to leave because the culture did not align with mine.”
Valerie learned a lot about herself, people, and the power that a positive company culture can have. Now, in her current company, she assists her clients with a positive attitude and works with them to create a sound and harmonious environment.
Everything is in its right place.
The highlight of Valarie’s current work, she says, is seeing her clients’ dreams come true. Simultaneously, empowering and inspiring women from all walks of life, with diverse personalities and nationalities, to start their own salon businesses is the driving force behind her company and something she is deeply committed to.
She is able to use her years of tried and tested experience and partner with her clients to develop various aspects of their salon business through her consulting work. As a result, Valarie is able to accompany her clients on their journey. It fills her with pride to know she has helped them along the way and helped them achieve greater success.
Despite her success, this woman only wishes for her family’s health and happiness. She considers herself fortunate to have a close-knit family who are her staunchest supporters in life.
“They are my rock, and I am so grateful for them.”
Everyone should live and let people live, according to Kamal Bhaskarbhai Tewar, an Indian Director of Albatross Group based in Abu Dhabi. Freedom will always be the key to happiness and fulfilment.
This upbeat individual holds a Bachelor of Chemistry degree as well as a Master of Business Administration. He enjoys doing business, which makes him more intellectual and wise. Kamal began working as a Salesman in 2003. This experience shaped him into the man he is today.
Kamal has been in Abu Dhabi for 14 years and says the city has treated him well, providing him with success and positivity in his daily life. According to him, four words characterize his career: action, decision, hard work, and ambition.
For a long time creating and molding his dream, he has made certain that these four words will always be by his side as he overcomes adversities in his professional life. Every person should face life’s challenges, according to this man of optimism. Struggles are a part of life, and there is no such thing as a struggle that implies negativity. It is a natural part of growing up.
Kamal previously worked as a Vice President in a Finance Business before taking on a large position with great responsibility. This job provided him with the opportunity to hone his skills and shape his personality as a person who makes everything lighter when things get heavy.
Kamal stated that his favorite aspect of his
current job is excellent administration. One of the “cherries on top of his cake” is his business in Abu Dhabi.
Lastly, he said that in a workplace everyone should be relaxed. “Don’t work 100%, work only 10%, and the 90% use your brain and think about what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.
