LNAPL Sampling Made Easy
Disposable Clear-View™ Hydro-Bailers
Hydro-Bailers are designed for the collection of hydrocarbon liquids of LNAPL (light non-aqueous phase liquids). When lowered into the product layer and retrieved the ball valve allows water to escape, but leaves free product in the bailer.
Features
• Made of clear PVC
• Ideal for free product only samples
• Visual identification of the product thickness
Wash And Re-Use, Less Waste!
ERE's Reusable CarboBailer™
The CarboBailer™ is an economical way of collecting and/or sampling hydrocarbons from wells, drums, or tanks. It works by just slowly inserting the bailer into the well and just slowly removing it. As it will be raised from the well, the water will drain out of the bailer while the hydrocarbons will be trapped. The hydrocarbons can be removed by either pouring out from the top or using a bottom-emptying device.
Features
• Made of clear PVC
The Environmentally Friendly Solution Reusable PVC Bailers
If a disposable bailer isn't the right answer for you, explore the option of purchasing a permanent, reusable clear PVC bailer. Simply unscrew the bottom check valve and then each part (bailer, bottom & ball) can be decontaminated and rinsed for reuse.
Features
• Made of clear PVC
• Easily disassembles to decontaminate

Need Help Choosing A Solinst® Water Level Meter?
1. Do you work in applications where you need to monitor falling water levels?
If yes, choose the Model 101D Water Level DrawDown Meter. It works as a Water Level Meter and using a toggle switch, can be changed to a Drawdown Meter where the probe signals in air instead of water. This feature is useful when a well is pumped and clients need to know exactly when a specific depth is reached. Applications include, purging of wells and performing aquifer tests (pumping, slug, etc.) to obtain information on aquifer properties.
2. Are your monitoring wells less than 25 m or 80 ft and is portability a priority?
If yes, choose the 102M Mini Water Level Meter with laser marked cable on a compact reel, small enough to fit in a backpack or small carrying case.
3. Are you working in applications where measurements are needed beyond 300 m or 1000 ft?
If yes, choose the Model 101 P7 Water Level Meter or the 101D Water Level DrawDown Meter with laser marked flat tape in lengths up to 1500 m (5000 ft).
4. Is the access/application narrow (<15 mm or 5/8")?
If yes, choose the Model 102 Water Level Meters with narrow coaxial cable and probe options. The Model 102 with P10 probe should be the Meter of choice for the majority of narrow applications. If access is <10 mm (3/8") ex: the channels of a Solinst CMT Multilevel System, then the P4 probe (4 mm diameter) is required.
5. Is depth sounding the well a requirement (ex: do you need to measure both the static water level and the depth to the bottom of the well (total well depth))
If yes, choose the Model 101 P7, 101D or Model 101B Water Level Meter.
• Best options: Model 101 P7 and 101D, as their probes are pressure-proof the full length of any tape.
• The 101B probe is leak-proof, however, tape lengths only go to 100 m and there is no sensitivity switch to turn the light and buzzer down when submersed.
Note: To help measure total depth in wells deeper than 30 m (100 ft), 101B P1 probe weights can be added to a 101 or 101D tape to help the probes reach bottom more easily.
6. Are you looking for a very basic unit without any extra features (ex: sensitivity adjustment, battery test button)?
If yes, choose the Model 101B Water Level Meter. It is very simple and inexpensive. It is, however, limited to 30 m, 60 m, and 100 m lengths in metric only.

How Do Interface Meters Work? Inf Z ne
Simply, the meters provide two different signals depending on if they are in product or a fluid like water that is conductive.
To detect liquids, Solinst® Interface Meters use an infra-red beam and detector. When the probe enters a liquid the beam is refracted away from the detector and an audible tone and light is emitted.
If the liquid is non-conductive (as is the case with LNAPL and DNAPL) a steady tone and light signal the presence of product. If the fluid is conductive (water) , a conductivity circuit is completed. This overrides the infra-red circuit, and the tone and light are intermittent.
Operating Principles
Product (Non-Conductive Liquid) = Steady Light & Tone
Water (Conductive Liquid) = Intermittent Light & Tone

When should you use the Model 104 Sonic Water Level Meter to measure depth to water in a well versus a standard water level meter or datalogger?
• In crooked or obstructed wells where equipment can potentially be entangled
• At contaminated sites (concerns of cross contamination from well to well and decontamination of equipment)
• Use when fast manual single point data collection is required
• Ideal for use in narrow, cascading, or difficult to access water level wells
How accurate is the Model 104 Sonic Water Level Meter and how long does it take to collect a reading?
In ideal situations, it can be accurate to 3 cm (0.1 ft) and takes approximately 1-4 seconds to provide a reading dependent on depth to water. When increased accuracy is required, the control unit can be used to enter site specific well details (measurement parameters) such as:
• Drop tube diameter
• Min/max water level measurement
• Water temperature
• Offset of probe from ground level
For well openings greater than 1" diameter, the plastic disc should be used to cover the well opening. Sealing off the top of the well facilitates a strong signal (pulse is an air pressure /low frequency sound wave) that provides greater accuracy and prevents external interferences from affecting the reading.
How does it work?
The Sonic Water Level Meter works by the Probe transmitting a sound wave into the pipe or well and measuring the time it takes for the pulse to return after making contact with water. The distance to water is calculated using the speed of sound and time. Since the speed of sound varies with temperature, a temperature sensor is located in the probe to adjust for variations. To account for different well diameters, offsets, well obstructions or features, the Control Unit allows you to input measurement parameters to get the most accurate water level reading possible.

Need Help Selecting The Right Solinst® Levelogger® 5?
1. What is the anticipated change in water level?
Leveloggers® should be placed deep enough below the surface of the water to remain submerged. This maximum submergence is then used to select the appropriate range of Levelogger®. (M5/F15 = 5 meters/15 feet)
2. Will data be collected for a day or longer?
Data collection needed for minutes to hours:
• Although we always suggest compensating for barometric pressure changes, you could assume minimal change in atmospheric pressure, so a Barologger may not be required
Data required for multiple days:
• To maintain accuracy , use a Barologger 5 to correct for atmospheric change - PT#114608 (One Barologger can be used to compensate all Leveloggers® in a 20 mile (30 kilometer) radius and/or with every 1000 feet (300 meter) change in elevation.)
3. Do you want to communicate and view data with the Levelogger® downhole?
If yes, you need a Levelogger® 5 App Interface (SO-115009) or PC Interface Cable (SO-109609). Choose Direct Read Cable (DRC) specify lengths (including shorter length for Barologger, if required).
If no, you need either a Desktop Reader 5 (SO-114404) or Field Reader 5 (SO-114403). Choose suspension stainless steel wireline or Kevlar cord.
4. What length of wireline/cord or Direct Read Cable do you need?
You need to add the anticipated change in water level to the static water level (depth to water from ground surface).
Stainless steel wireline or Kevlar cord assemblies are available to 500 ft.
Direct Read Cables are available up to 1500 ft, specify lengths:
• 5 ft – 500 ft (at 5 ft increments)
• 510 ft – 1000 ft (at 10 ft increments)
• 1050 ft – 1500 ft (at 50 increments)
5. How do you want to communicate with your Levelogger® 5?
Remove from monitoring location and use a laptop or computer and PC Software:
• You will need either a Desktop Reader 5 (SO-114404) or a Field Reader 5 (SO-114403)
Levelogger® 5 remains on site, installed on a *DRC (or use a Direct Read to Optical Adaptor)
• Laptop and PC Software: PC Interface Cable (SO-109609)
• Smart Device, Apple® or Android™ and Solinst Levelogger App: Levelogger® 5 App Interface (SO-115009)
• USB memory device (for downloading data only): Data Grabber (SO-115007)

How to communicate with your PC For Solinst® Levelogger® 5 Accessories?
Connect your datalogger to a computer using either the Desktop Reader 5 or Field Reader 5. If you have installed your Levelogger® using wireline/ Kevlar cord, you can communicate with your Levelogger® via a Desktop Reader 5 or Field Reader 5 and Levelogger® Software on a laptop PC. Always plug in the USB device before starting the Software.
When a Solinst datalogger is deployed for extended periods, especially in coastal and saltwater environments, there is the risk of biofouling. Biofouling on the pressure sensor or conductivity cell can compromise the reliability of the readings.
The Model 3001 Biofoul Screen is an affordable option to lengthen the time a Levelogger® 5, Levelogger® 5 Junior, Levelogger® 5 LTC, LevelVent 5, or AquaVent 5 can be deployed before maintenance is required.
The Biofoul Screen simply slips onto the sensor end of the datalogger, where it is held in place by compression fit. It improves the long-term performance of Solinst® dataloggers, and helps ensure reliable conductivity and pressure measurements.

Is it important to have a compact Wellhead that can easily be deployed and hidden in a 2" Well Cap Assembly?
If yes, the Model 3250 LevelVent 5 would be the preferred option.
Is it necessary to be able to communicate with third party dataloggers or telemetry systems using either MODBUS or SDI-12 protocols?
If yes, the Aquavent 5 SPX Wellhead is needed.
How do communications cables and accessories connect with these Vented units?
In the case of the LevelVent 5, they connect directly to the Wellhead, which is identical to the top of a Solinst® Levelogger® 5 Direct Read Cable. The AquaVent 5 has unique cables that are provided with the Wellhead to connect from the Wellhead to accessories and third party dataloggers or telemetry systems.
What batteries are needed for both systems?
The LevelVent 5 logger contains a long-lasting lithium battery that is not user-replaceable. There are no batteries to replace in the Wellhead. The AquaVent 5 primarily uses four 1.5V user-replaceable lithium batteries, which are located in the Wellhead. The logger itself contains a small battery that is used to maintain the internal clock when it is not connected to the Wellhead (it is not user-replaceable).

What are the three RRL Stations?
All RRL Stations use the same hardware and are programmed using a wizard in the Solinst Telemetry Software as a Home Station, Remote Station or Relay Station. They are interchangeable as required.
Home Station:
Each RRL Network will have one Home Station. The Home Station is connected to a PC using an RS232 cable and requires an external power supply, as well as the internal batteries, to operate. Note: The RRL Home Station and Relay Stations require an external power supply, as well as the internal batteries.
Note: You can connect your RRL Home Station to a remote STS Edge Telemetry System instead of a PC.
Relay Station:
When a Remote Station cannot communicate to the Home Station directly, due to distance or line-of-sight issues, a Relay Station can be used to transmit the data. Data from attached datalogger is stored at a Relay Station. However, with no dataloggers attached, data is not stored, it is only re-transmitted. The radio at a Relay Station is always on, therefore a continuous external power supply is required, in addition to the internal batteries.
Remote Station:
The Remote Station will turn the radio module on and off based on the Report Rate scheduled. The Remote Station does not require an external power supply, unless there is a frequent Report Rate programmed.
Porcelain Enamel Standard Staff Gauge
The Staff Gauge has a long history of providing a direct visual indicator for determining water level. Stevens staff gauges are designed for easy mounting to a wall or pier, with heavy metal grommets and a 0.188 inch opening for screws or nails. Each gauge consists of a metal core, coated with porcelain enamel and marked with accurate measurement markings at specific intervals. The metal core is heavy 16-gauge (0.075 in / 1.9 mm) iron, which is completely covered with a baked-on porcelain enamel finish to resist rust or discoloration. Different colors of enamel are used to provide the markings; typically, black numbers on a white background. Stevens staff gauges are designed for years of trouble-free use, and can be easily cleaned.
Staff Gauge Applications

Flow Probe Alignment Fin Kit
Significant errors can occur when measuring water flow other than directly parallel to the direction of flow. The Global Water Flow Probe Alignment Fin is designed to help orient the flow probe parallel to flow when the end of the probe can't be seen well due to the depth or cloudiness of the water. To use this accessory, immerse the flow probe and rotate it back and forth until the least amount of resistance is felt due to the water flowing past the alignment fin.
Kolor Kut Water Finding Paste
The Kolor Kut Water Finding Paste is a golden brown in color and turns brilliant red upon contact with water. This product will successfully gauge water content in all petroleum and hydrocarbons as well as sulfuric acid, ammonia, soap solutions, salt and other chloride solutions.
