So the typical part of my life is that I don’t have a typical day in my life. What does it take to be successful in the field you excel in? I don’t believe that there a set formula for success. If one wants to be successful in today’s work environment, across the industries, then they would have to constantly keep evolving and be open to change. What do you do in your free time? Which is your favorite place in India and abroad where you would like to travel? Domestically without even a grain of doubt Himachal and Sikkim. However, the lazy bug I am, I have stopped travelling much overseas, given an opportunity I wouldn’t mind visiting any place with mountains. For now, I am happy with India. What inspires and motivates you? I wish I could look beyond my parents and sister for inspiration, these people are enough for me to work and serve the society even if I go to live on for 1000 years. Motivation is the greed to spend what I earn on the next mountain destination. Tell us your relationship with food? I have legal, illegal, married, extra marital, social, antisocial and you name it, all kinds of relationships with food. I do not discriminate when it comes to food, people eat to live, I live to eat can’t say more.

Pista House
The popular recipe of Pista House, haleem came about by a lot of trial and errors. During Ramzan, Pista House serves only haleem and in two versions - vegetarian and mutton. On digging in, you can taste the tender meat, cashew nuts; the occasional flavor of ground pepper and crisp fried onions making it ambrosia worth not missing. Hundreds of kilos of haleem are made every day; naturally, the in-house kitchen and its staff is not enough to deal with so much, therefore, extra cooks are hired to work. There are never, ever any leftovers at the end of service every day. Address: Various outlets spread across all areas of Hyderabad.
Café 555
This 50-year-old Irani cafe is usually crowded but the Ramadan month is when it attracts people from every possible corner of the city. As the clock strikes 6pm, food lovers gather at Cafe 555’s haleem stall awaiting their turn to grab some gooey goodness. In addition to Irani haleem, this cafe makes Special Haleem which has a full goat tongue and topped with chicken 65 and a slice of boiled egg. Like the regular dish, this one too comes with generous portions of ghee, cashew nuts, pistachio, and deep fried onions. Adhering to Covid-19 guidelines, a complete no mask no haleem policy is being ensured at Cafe 555. Address: Road No. 1, Masab tank 20 APRIL, 2021 TULIP

What’s your denition of the purpose of Ramadan? Hoor: The main purpose of Ramadan is to come close to Allah, worship him, seek mercy and refuge. It is the month which purifies Muslims from bad deeds if it’s spent the way it’s commanded. How is this year of Ramadan in quarantine going to be dierent from that of every year? Ruqaiyyah: Although I do want this Pandemic to end and have my freedom back, at the same time, it’s been a rapture to have abundant time for worship in Ramadan. I am working from home which means I don’t have to fight traffic to get home from the office and that saves plenty of time. (Sigh) What changes do you make in Ramadan to your technology usage, social life and diet? Ruqaiyyah: I try hard (haha) to lessen the use of my phone for unimportant things and spend more time worshipping. During Ramadan we already skip lunch, I manage to skip dinner too by just eating at Iftar. I’m not a fan of social gatherings/Iftar parties during Ramadan either and I try to avoid it. What are the dierent cuisines made at home for iftar? Shahzoor: Indian, Indian Chinese & Arabic cuisine

What’s your secret to staying motivated and consistent throughout Ramadan, especially when you hit the midRamadan slump? Hoor: The spiritual discipline in the initial days of Ramadan increases the connection with Allah and every night I renew my intentions of performing different acts of worship leading to greater rewards. What is the biggest positive change any particular Ramadan has Wbrought to your life? Shahzoor: Ramadan is the prime time for a change in Muslims; internal change in prioritising Islam over the worldly distractions and dedication to worship Allah has been the most positive transformation in me. What do you plan on wearing this Ramadan since the option of buying a new outt seems to be closed? Ruqaiyyah: Eid isn’t about wearing new outfits, rather wearing an outfit which is immaculate to celebrate the end of Ramadan. That being said, thankfully I do have a new spare outfit which I may or may not wear this year. To all those readers - It’s alright to not have a new fashionable outfit as it does not defeat the purpose of Eid-ul-Fitr.

What’s your denition of the purpose of Ramadan? Zara: My Definition of purpose of Ramadan means a good opportunity to change yourself by having built the patience in you. And by doing loads of good deeds & charity which Benefits Others.” The word RAMADAN means Burning” It was named Ramadan because it burns the sins of the people with good deeds. How is this year of Ramadan in quarantine going to be dierent from that of every year? Wajid: This year of Ramadan in quarantine would definitely be the opposite & totally different from every year of Ramadan in past. All these years it was during the time of Ramadan I use to visit the mosque more frequently to offer prayers. And to offer Tarawih prayers during the night time & spend more time in the mosque. There used to be a lot of iftar parties, hanging out with friends & playing cricket till the time of seheri & going to the old city occasionally to enjoy the real atmosphere of Ramadan with stalls of haleem all over & everyone enjoying the delicious haleem but this year of Ramadan in quarantine all these things would be missed a lot. But I’m excited to have all the Iftars at home with family. What changes do you make in Ramadan to your technology usage, social life and diet? Zara: When the Holy month of Ramadan comes it’s natural that daily Routine of life changes completely for a month. I usually avoid watching movies & listening to music. I rather listen to or watch things which bring you knowledge. And hear lots of duas & surahs on youtube and which I get forwards on WhatsApp. Socially I don’t go for any birthday parties or weddings or any social party too. I just prefer going to iftar party as it gets over early too, and I can carry on with my tarawih prayers. During the month of Ramadan, I prefer eating twice a day sehri & iftar. Anything that I have post iftar till sehri is very light basically milk shakes & light munches. What are the dierent cuisines made at home for iftar? Wajid: There are lots of variety made for iftar in my house because everyone has their own likes & cravings for iftar. As I prefer eating haleem & deep fried samosa, chicken spring rolls, bhajiyae , dahi vadae occasionally which are made every day for iftar. I make sure my favourite cuisine is made for me every day for iftar like fresh pineapple & watermelon juice, grilled shredded chicken sandwich or egg sandwich. I prefer having grilled chicken with corn too. What’s your secret to staying motivated and consistent throughout Ramadan, especially when you hit the mid-Ramadan slump? Zara: I feel it’s the will power which comes from within to be motivated & consistent as the month of Ramadan starts. For the first few days, it’s the transformation of mind, body & soul. But especially when the mid-Ramadan comes it becomes quite easy to fast as it becomes a habit which I had adapted. What is the biggest positive change any particular Ramadan has brought to your life? Wajid: Every Year of holy Ramadan since I had grown up I had lots of changes in me. Especially I feel in this month of Ramadan it brings inner peace Allah open doors for opportunity, forgiveness, acceptance of prayers & duas. A few years back in the month of Ramadan I learnt to forgive & seek forgiveness and not keeping anything for anyone in my heart. And it made a big difference in my life. I value more about my loved ones especially my mother, wife, kids & my family. What do you plan on wearing this Ramadan since the option of buying a new outt seems to be closed? Wajid: Luckily I have a few pairs of new kurta pajamas that were stitched, bought by my mom & wife last Ramadan for Eid. Which I didn’t get the opportunity to wear as I had already my clothes stitched for Last Eid. So this Ramadan is the perfect time to utilise those clothes for Friday’s, special nights & Eid. The essence of Ramadan is in worship. In this holy month, all the bad is contained and the good is multiplied. How is this year’s Ramadan in quarantine going to be dierent from that of every year? Salman: This Ramadan is very special because we are getting to spend more quality time with our family. Quarantine has brought the entire family together, all-male members are embracing their inner chefs. What changes do you make in Ramadan to your technology usage, social life and diet? Samya: Screen time definitely goes down. This time around socialising also has come to a halt which would otherwise be bustling with iftar and suhoor gatherings. How much ever we try of course one cannot resist samosas and haleem. What are the dierent cuisines made at home for iftar? But due to the lockdown, the social gatherings will be less this time. What is the biggest positive change any particular Ramadan has brought to your life? Fruit Chaat With The Paigahs
What’s your definition of the purpose of Ramadan? Faraaz: Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, improvement and increased devotion and worship. Muslims are expected to put more effort into following the teachings of Islam. To develop and strengthen our powers of self-control, so that one can resist wrongful desires. The fast begins at dawn and ends at sunset. It is also month of giving and sharing.
Given the change that Ramadan brings to our usual routines, how do you plan to stay energetic throughout the day/perform your tasks with focus? Faiz: It is not easy especially in difficult climatic conditions, but faith and determination can make one overcome most difficult conditions and circumstances. It takes first couple of days to settle after which we get use to it and its business like usual. Nutritious diet at Saher (before dawn) and during Iftar (after breaking the fast after sunset) makes it easy. Pace of life definitely slows down a bit during the day. Taravee Prayers at the mosque after dinner give you great amount of satisfaction and peace of mind. What changes do you make in Ramadan to your technology usage, social life, and diet? Kamil: Everything remains the same except including socialising. A pious Muslim is supposed to follow the tenets of Islam round the year and not just during the month of Ramadaan. Hence, we follow the same in letter and spirit and continue socializing. What are the different cuisines made at home for iftaar. Nida: For Iftaar the first thing we break our fast is Khajoor(Dates).... we make dishes like Haleem,Puff pastry known as Lukhmi(with filling of minced meat), Daal with green chutney and lime (Chana daal), Dahiwadaas, Banana bhajiyas, Potato bhajiyas, Fruit chat, Guava chat,Fresh fruit juices. As now everyone has become health conscious so fried dishes have been reduced and more of fresh fruits items of taken its place. Elaborate dinner follows after Magrib prayers and before Taravee, and in Hyderabad eating out after Taravee right up till Saher has become very common. The entire city has an amazing festive atmosphere during the entire month of Ramadaan. What’s your secret to staying motivated and consistent throughout Ramadan, especially when you hit the mid-Ramadan slump? Faraaz: Faith in Almighty and how this helps purify our soul and body keeps up going and undoubtedly gives us a sense of satisfaction and fulfilment. What are your tips for our readers on approaching the Qur’an and coming out a different person at the end of this Ramadan, In sha Allah? Faiz: Quran is the book of guidance and Islam is a way of life which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had himself exhibited and guided fellow followers, which has been recorded as Hadees. Reading the entire Quran at least once and understanding it in our own dialect helps one follow the right path. It is indeed an amazing experience and an eye-opener. What is the biggest positive change any particular Ramadan has brought to your life? Nida: What we practice during the Holy month transforms us to being kind, just, helping others generously, being true to oneself and all fellow human beings. One is supposed to be kind to all living beings. To sum it up the Holy month of Ramadan makes one a better human being, to strive and make this world a better place to live in. How is Ramadan with Covid going to be different from that of every year? Faiz: Well, the month of Ramadan is always looked forward to as a month of reverence, peace and celebration, however, our generation will be facing an unprecedented 2 years of Ramadan wherein one has to be extremely careful and be satisfied with keeping it low-key. Last year when we went through similar conditions during the month of Ramadan, the positive side of it was that we were able to spend a lot of time in introspection and pondering over the very purpose of our lives, and on top of it, very peacefully submit to the Almighty. Looking forward to a peaceful and a spiritually stimulating month of Ramadan this year as well. 26 APRIL, 2021 TULIP

I feel its purpose is to encourage self-reflection, spirituality, and charity. I also see it as a celebration of our religious and cultural identity. It reminds us to look after the underprivileged among us and that is a big part of it. Given the change that Ramadan brings to our usual routines, how do you plan to: -Stay energetic throughout the day/perform your tasks with focus? -Manage your time and balance between your personal, professional and spiritual life? Omer: While it may seem like a task to many who do not observe it, it actually is very routine and natural to those of us who observe it. The Iftar and Suhoor times actually mean that I have more time on hand to manage my personal and professional life, whilst keeping spirituality at the forefront. The Art & Science of Folding Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding; this art transforms a flat sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques. The variety of origami designs is quite impressive; it includes flowers, animals, geometrical figures, etc. and the most known origami model is a paper crane. Like any other child, she too folded boats and planes to play with, blissfully oblivious of the fact that in future she would learn more about origami. Mahima Kankaria an Origami & Event Stylist grew up being passionate about all things unique and creative. She perused Graphic Designing and later saw herself working with Wedding Planners and now is a well-known Event Stylist and Origami Artist. 40 APRIL, 2021 TULIP

Once it's in my hands, we co-exist till we have completely transformed each other. I have been folding for more than 4 years now, did a lot of workshops and have come to love the fact of how everyone has something to take away from it. My work constantly challenges me to take risks, be it with the complexity of the fold, the scale of the final piece, or the medium itself.

This place is a perfect blend of tradition and modernity defined in the architecture. Author - ‘The Whispering Star’ “In my opinion, Hyderabad would be akin to a TULIP, if you compared Cities with Flowers! The City graced with Learners and Learning, Monuments and monumental History, the fountain-head of Knowledge and the Land of Scholars. Awakening, Awareness, Aloofness - These are the traits of this marvelous city. This is not just about Cuisine, Old-Timers. Nor is it all about Hi-Tech and MNCs. Mysticism and Spirituality shroud this City of Fortune: not Fortune-seekers. Yes, it has been the destination for all Seekers and Seers, for ages. It has several reading spots. Some are situated amidst the hustle and bustle of the busy traffic such as the Public Gardens beside the State Assembly complex on Nampally station road. For a solitary reading spot, one recommends any quiet corner of historic Golconda Fort or outskirts of scenic Old Kurnool or Yadagirigutta route. Other favorite reading spots are on the Gandipet, Shameerpet and Vikarabad highways. Every book lover must explore these ‘addas’ of enlightenment and wisdom in this city which is the ‘Pearl of India’.”

State Central Library
This majestic building is one of the oldest and best libraries in Hyderabad. Apart from the books and the magazines, and newspapers, a few manuscripts which date back to the 5th century, you will find the tales of a bygone era in the baronial structure of the place and the breathless stairway!
Location: Office of Director of public libraries, 1st floor, state.

Psychologist “In Afzalgunj, amidst the chaos of the hustle and bustle of life, stands the oasis of calm: The State Central Library. Arguably one of the most beautiful heritage remains of the Asaf Jahi era, the Asia Qutub Khana (now the State Central Library) looks similar to a giant open book placed in an upended position. This gem of a place, located on the bank of River Musi, is in a similarly dilapidated condition as that of the river. However, this negligence in maintaining the premises has never interfered with the charm it holds for readers such as me. When I read here, I feel connected to the rich repository of knowledge that kept the city illuminated for more than a century. The library dates back to the late 19th century and houses some very rare books from the era. Each spot inside the entire campus of the library is heavenly, whether it is the old wooden desks inside which are so rooted in the history of Hyderabad or the many shady pockets under the trees outside the building.” TULIP - APRIL, 2021 43

Mrinal Kumar Storyteller “No character is all fiction. Every single character in every single book or a novel or movie has some reality at its core. For me, as a storyteller, the biggest challenge is to present my characters in a way that looks relatable and real to my audience. To escape this fuss, I keep visiting various book cafés, mostly with a book of my choice and my diary. Trust me; the best seat in any such café is the one at the corner. You can observe so many potential characters and even more stories sitting around you and narrating themselves. The biggest “Glitch in the Matrix” for any writer is the writes block. Books are my retreat in such situations. As quoted by Stephen King, “A good writer reads a lot and writes a lot” and thus when I can’t write, I read. For me, any place that’s quiet and calm and serves me a good cup of coffee or tea and preferably something to munch on is a place I can sit and read. Lamakaan and Truffle Towers are my go-to places. Usually calm vibe, serving good food and most importantly not very heavy on pocket. For people who aren’t much into the creative field, book cafés can be a good escape from the usual hustle and yes, they are great dating venues as well. You can enjoy the space; have great discussions over a cup of coffee.” 44 APRIL, 2021 TULIP

I wrote some of my poems from my book Hiraeth, at this constantly picturesque spot. In Hiraeth, I wrote about nature and love and Sycamore trees and lakes. In the midst of the Golf Course, there is a placid lake that inspired me to write the poem, ‘The lakes are serene.’ I prefer driving to the Boulder Hills Golf Course for reading a fiction book. Inheriting the Positive Attitude
-By Bidisha Barik
The awareness of therapeutic journaling was raised in the 1960s when Psychologist Dr Pogoff began offering workshops in “Intensive Journal Method” and published three books that promoted journal writing for personal growth. Later, when public school systems included journal writing in their English classes - these journals were academic - teachers noticed the simple assignments often revealed a lot about the student’s emotional life. Journals serve different purposes with its different types- for writers: it serves as collecting their thoughts, catalogue of their ideas either with unstructured writing or prompts and for non-writers, it serves as a practice of maintaining records of daily events, to-do-lists or gratitude journaling which focuses solely on the positives of your life - gratitude journaling is an effective way to boost your self-esteem and help in personal well-being. The consistency with journaling creates awareness of thoughts. It helps in engaging with their insights while putting them down in a writing format without any filter. It builds a way to self-discovery and reflects a hue of positive ideas that ease the battle 48 APRIL, 2021 TULIP

“I’ve experienced that confronting a blank page forces out the voices of inner-self and strengthens my intuitions. It also motivates me to work on the path of self-reliance on the difficult days - with the calming words I have once inked on the pages making it more volatile on the heart and mind. Also, revisiting the old journal spreads persuade new prompts for journaling. Journaling has been my calming escape from the messed up thoughts where I can slowly ink down the words and the unclear portrait of thoughts altogether draws an aesthetic image as a spread.”

“Growing up I was the sort of person who couldn’t let go of anything that seemed even a little bit pretty. Like patterned papers, passes, notes passed in secrecy between me and my BFFs, and they all had to stash somewhere safe. I like the idea of keeping a journal and putting in everything I love between the beige fawn papers, like doodles, my art, my drawings, my poems, a poem by other poets, song lyrics, playlists, plans, outfit inspiration, random pictures of me and my friends, and then decorating it with cutesy stickers and glitter. It is a place where everything fits in aesthetically. It becomes my little world, without even trying, a little world full of things that inspire me and uplift me. It’s a really elegant space to put my tangled thoughts neatly. I like the idea of organizing most random, wistful, happy, depressing thoughts and whims in a pattern of shades and moods that I can show off to everyone. If not writing down poems, I’m writing goals and plans and that helps in productivity management, even if in just a small way. Plus, I love the sound of scissors cutting paper, and mixing colors to paint away boredom. Everyone has a creative and artistic side, although it does not always show on the outside, and my journal is a depiction of who I am.”
“
Journaling is a way to explore the ideas as they unfold. Over the years, journaling has advanced with various additives to the process.

“There are a lot of thoughts that go on in our brain. Sometimes they get so entangled that writing them down makes it much less complicated. Journaling daily is a great way to recognize and work towards one’s emotions, insecurities and goals. Apart from that, writing down daily tasks helps to get organized and plan the day out effectively. With the recent boom in social media, people are accustomed to checking their phones, first thing in the morning. This should be changed to journaling, if not in the morning, then at least once at night. People who are overburdened with anxiety and stress find journaling particularly beneficial. Also recommended by psychologists, people suffering from any kind of mental health issues find it calming to have their thoughts written down.”
Saima Afreen
Senior journalist
“A journal, especially maintained by a wordsmith, carries unslept nights along with the insatiable hunger to explore more of the hidden parts of his/her psyche that don’t guarantee light or a door to exit. The words on the pages aren’t just symbols in ink but spells that hold the reader seharzada (enchanted). However, the arrangement of the words is written almost the same way what the author/poet feels in that moment as the lines are penned in silent hours, in that part of the night when a marigold twig may still be shivering from the storm it just witnessed -- one cannot always find beautiful, positive, delightful writing in a notebook -- these words are written in states of fear, unnamed restlessness, anxiety almost otherwordly in nature that only a writer can feel. To read such pages are acts of going through the storms, and come back to one’s own world whose very definition changes after what you witness. At the same time, you never know if the same words can pull out the very darkness that you were running away from yet identified yourself with.”

World Heritage Day 2021
When it comes to culture and heritage, Hyderabad is in abundance. Hyderabad was ruled by Mughals who have impacted the community of today which practices their culture. The Nizams built palaces, forts, mosques and tombs. Their designs are eloquent and bring a lot of Persian styles. However today we are taking a different turn to Hyderabad’s Heritage by talking about the widely believed notions that these sites live with.
Charminar
When we talk about heritage Charminar, A FAMOUS LANDMARK OF HYDERABAD, it comes at the tip of the list for its beautiful structure and awestruck designs. Many citizens of Hyderabad believe that there’s a hidden treasure in the walls of Charminar, as well as in the secret tunnel that leads to Golconda Fort. it is also believed that Charminar was constructed by a Nizam for his lover, who a dancer and used to perform in his darbar.
Paigah Tombs
Paigah Tombs are the tombstones of the loyalists of the Nizams. Many believe that due to its abandonment, negligence and less human contact, the place attracts supernatural attention.

Got Pranked
“
During my summer vacations, while I was in school. I always spent it with my cousins at their place. And, everyone knew how much I disliked horror films back then. I have a vivid imagination and I didn’t like how my mind worked after I watched one. After a movie night with my cousins, again it was a horror film, and the very next day, my cousin and I were walking back after an evening walk and she suddenly fainted and started having a seizure. It went on for about 6-7 minutes straight until I started crying and I did not know what to do, she then stopped moving and got up straight, and started laughing at me. I was stoked as to how good of an actor she was. I still cannot believe that it happened and it’s one of our most memorable incidents I have with her.”
Juhi Mydra - Founder, Passel Productions Prankster
“
A hilarious prank that I pulled was on my cousin, who was on vacation and he decided to spend a few days with us in Saudi Arabia, for some reason he believes that, Saudi Arabia being an Islamic country attracted more Jinns than other places, I also knew he gets scared easily, I saw the opportunity and grabbed it. At night when he slept, me and sister, wore scary ghost mask and gorilla mask, we began to make scary sounds, he got up and screamed I guess he was really scared cause he instantly fell asleep, and his body was still in shock so he woke up again looked at us, screamed and fainted, we then woke him up and gave him some water, he’s okay now. “

Got Pranked
Prankster
“
One of the best pranks that I or rather we pulled out dates back to 2016. Just try to imagine, what's gonna be your first thought if, after a great sleep on your cosy bed, you suddenly wake up on a football field. Well, yes this is what we did, with one of our teammates. After a 3-day train journey, from Bhubaneswar to Guwahati, we finally got an "opportunity" to sleep. It was IIT-G campus and we were there for a robotics event, which was about to start at 10 am sharp. But this one teammate just denied waking up. Well, now you can imagine what would have happened to this dear friend of ours. Except for the fact, that he slept in the dorm and woke up in the common "bathroom" of the boy’s hostel. I feel kinda sorry for him, but It was fun.”
Mrinal Kumar
- Storyteller
“
I was pranked by a dear friend Brandon, and it was a hilarious bit. It was when I job hunting and he was aware of it. He took advantage of the opportunity to prank call as a company manager. He called me up from a different number and stated that he’s a manager and wanted to conduct a call interview, I agreed. He asked me various job-related questions and I was nervously answering them, towards the end of the call he revealed himself and we had a great laugh! “

Fitness à La Mode
By Asna Abdul Haq
No one could have predicted living in a global pandemic and its subsequent consequences. Being shut away from the world, pushed our potentials to the limits, which made the masses come up with creative solutions and adapt to new changes. One such spectre being Health and Fitness. Along with a lot of other trends, Inclusive and Wearable Fitness Tech are a couple of new additions in this digitally connected social fitness that have gained popularity for all the right reasons.
Inclusive Fitness for All
Virtual coaching has started a huge movement to make fitness accessible to anyone. People who did not feel comfortable in a packed gym, turned to online classes by certified personal trainers. This new trend has not only helped the trainers to focus on and help their clients more efficiently but also has encouraged more and more people to take up a healthier lifestyle. Though there’s a long way to go, fitness influencers and brands are promoting the Fitness for All mantra.
And with this range of accessibility, the notion of ideal body type is slowly fading away. People are beginning to lean away from the idea of a “perfect body” and have started embracing themselves. People are now trying to attain good health and overall fitness, rather than just exercising blindly. People are appreciative of the specialized approach of size-inclusive fitness. This gives them options to workout sitting down or follow an instructor who understands how bodies of different sizes experience movement. We hope to see this movement continue well into 2021 and beyond. 58 APRIL, 2021 TULIP

Wearable Fitness Tech
A wave of fitness devices, also called Fitness activity trackers, has become extremely popular lately. What began as different devices to keep a tab of your heart activity, pedometers and calorie counter, have now merged into an all-in-one smart tool that connects to the internet and smartphones for long-term tracking of your fitness data. A range of fitness tech is now available with modulations that suit your needs As with most things, how much fitness trackers help, depends upon your level of commitment. One thing is for sure, these trackers motivate people to get off their couches. Trackers give you accurate data of your activities throughout the day, pushing you to work harder. Reminders to keep oneself hydrated or a notification to get up and walk from sitting too long is a great boon for people who are working from home and forget to keep track of their fitness needs. The trackers also prove useful for people with medical conditions with the data of heart activity and blood sugar levels being constantly recorded. These gadgets can prove to be a major aid in monitoring one’s activities remotely.

There are two standalone cottages – one Pine and another Deodar. All the rooms have been painstakingly built in the local stone architecture style. It’s styled like a traditional Kumaoni stone house, however, it has been refurbished to include all modern conveniences and luxuries as well. All of them feature sunbaked brick walls, golden lighting, and large full-length windows. The cottages are all surrounded by trees and flora on all sides. The Bathroom construction at the resort near Binsar is a stunning example of traditional local architecture that involves stacking local stones one above the other without using any cementing material in a ‘dry stack’, locally called ‘korichinai’.Large bathrooms, with a glass roof to allow sun light to come in, are fitted with all modern fixtures and have running hot and cold water at all times. You can say it’s arguably one of the best bathrooms in the Himalayas.

Excursions Around Jageshwar: A 45-minute-drive from the estate takes you to Jageshwar Temples. The drive is through the omnipresent pines, oaks and rhododendrons and the moment you reach in the vicinity of the temples, you enter the amazing world of deodar trees. Jageshwar comprises a group of about 124 stone temples dating between the 9th and 13th century AD. It is believed to be the site of one of the twelve Jyotirlings and hence occupies a prominent position on Hindu pilgrimage. Chitai Temple: An hour’s drive from the estate is another famous temple of the region, the Chitai Temple dedicated to GoluDevta, who is considered to be the God of Justice. As one approaches the temple, the first thing that strikes you is hundreds of bells hanging at the entrance. People come to the temple to make a wish to GoluDevta; those who are not able to personally visit the temple, write letters to Him seeking justice. Once a wish is fulfilled people come and hang a brass bell on any of the temple walls, and hence the sea of bells all over the temple. Almora: Almora is located at a distance of about one-and-a-half hour from the estate. The cobbled stone streets of Almora bazaar are a delight to walk through. Houses and shops align the narrow streets that bustle with activity throughout the day. The traditional architecture is very much in evidence here as one spots carved doors and windows. 62 APRIL, 2021 TULIP

Aries Certain factors may seem to slow you down, but they’re the ones that you’re using to summon your deeper strength and your unquestionable sense of purpose.
Cancer You may surprise yourself with what you decide is possible or even likely; you may determine that nothing is out of reach if you really want it — and that is the true spirit of this time in your life.
Libra What have you been through the past two months? Intense for sure, and maybe the most fun you’ve had in a long time. However, the developments involved are likely to have come with several important revelations and corrections in the course of your existence.
Capricorn Had someone not pointed out the connection, you might not have noticed that there is a continuity of theme from what you experienced over the winter to what you are about to experience over the summer, and for the remainder of the year.
Taurus Tend both the flame and its meaning. Both have what you might call life cycles, which is to say, they change, and when you monitor those changes and when you act in ways that are appropriate for the particular stage of your life, nature can act on your behalf.
Gemini You’ll need a basis upon which to make decisions and plan your actions. The primary reference points must be within you rather than in the world. An obvious example is a choice that is based on whether something looks good’.
Leo This is a time in life when certain commitments you have developed will deepen. Others will fall away like they never existed. Others will emerge as if from nowhere. But there is really only one commitment that truly matters — that which you offer to yourself.
Scorpio
Virgo There is little you will not achieve if you truly set out to do it. Yet at the same time you may be noticing a strange sense of apprehension approaching.
Sagittarius
Relationships are nothing if they are not functional. That is the test. Functional means the experience of loving and relating fits in your life, and your life fits into it.
Yes, you’re coming up with some pretty innovative ideas that will challenge you and everyone else — but you are all up for it. Thank God people have you around to keep life interesting.
Aquarius
You’re likely to see changes in your financial picture, and by all indications, changes mean improvements. It’s essential that you consider your economic and creative potential as something tangible and real, which is more a feeling than it is a thought. If what you learned last month has taken root, then space should be open inside you.
Recent events seem to have liberated you from some kind of professional commitment, even if they only helped you change your perspective, open up some possibilities, or sense how you actually feel without any guilt about it.
