Freshly Brewed For Hyderabad
World Coffee Day 2020 Don’t we love the smell of freshly filtered coffee, the sound of the coffee beans grinding together, the warm brown colour and the beautiful heart with cream on it? A rainy day, a good book and the right coffee are the perfect partners. Coffee was discovered in the 15th Century in the Arabian Peninsula. It was grown in a Yemeni district. By the 16th Century, it then went by Persia, Egypt, Syria and Turkey. Coffee was popularised not just at homes but public places dedicated to them called Qahveh Khaneh modernday cafes. Coffee was accompanied by chatter, a game of chess, and music. As thousands of people visited Makkah every year for Pilgrimage (Hajj) the so-called wine of Arabia went viral throughout the globe. Coffee travelled to Europe in the 17th Century, although coffee was praised in the New East, things weren’t the same for coffee in Europe. People called it “Bitter invention of Satan”. The controversy went so out of hands that the pope had to intervene. He decided to try the beverage for himself and called out a judgement, he found it so piquant and approved for people to drink it. Soon coffee houses became the new attraction points across England, Austria, France, Germany and Holland. Coffee quickly replaced the morning drinks like beer and wine, people who drank coffee performed with better work quality than those who drank wine and beer. Dutch soon decided to step in on the trade for coffee and failed miserably until they cultivated coffee in Indonesia. Slowly coffee grew throughout the globe and was the drink of the majority. Even today coffee is one of the most ordered and consumed beverages. Just like Indian fathers have ginger, millennials have coffee to cure it all. No matter what the problem is; coffee is your solution, bursting with migraines, have a coffee. Have trouble sleeping, drink coffee. Coffee is best with the desired ambience; it goes well with anything, a starry night, a light night drive, first date. Since we are talking about coffee and ambience, here are Hyderabad’s most loved coffee houses and cafes; brewing and serving the best. TULIP - OCTOBER, 2020 - By Umera Riyaz
