BASÍLICA SANTA LUCÍA DEL TRAMPAL Alcuéscar Visigothic jewel It is the only Visigothic church to be preserved in the Iberian Peninsula. It is very close to the Trampal spring, at the foot of the Sierra del Centinela. It was built around the second third of the 7th century and was part of a convent of Templar monks.

Legend has it that in the 13th century, during a battle against the Arabs, Captain Pelay Pérez Correa implored the Virgin: “Holy Mary, stop your day!”. The miracle took place and in gratitude he had this chapel built dedicated to Santa María de Tudía (Tentudía). Located in Calera de León, it was the headquarters of the Military Order of Santiago.
In the middle of the 16th century a Language Faculty (humanities) was created in the monastery, which was in operation until the beginning of the 19th century.
