Oceanco delivered the groundbreaking 109m/357ft yacht “Project Bravo” to her proud

Bravo represents a new direction for Oceanco— the LIFE Design—which takes its acronym from the words “Lengthened, Innovative, Fuel efficient and Eco-friendly.” She has a single tiered engine room that allows for an optimized long and slender hull shape, resulting in a reduction in overall propulsion power demand. Furthermore, the hull form affords enhanced space for guest accommodations.

This unique vessel with naval architecture and engineering by Lateral, exterior design by Nuvolari Lenard and interior by Reymond Langton Design has been on fast track since she was launched on November 17 last year. She recently completed successful sea trials in winter conditions— meeting, and exceeding performance expectations and predictions. Following her holiday delivery, Bravo is expected to return to Oceanco after the New Year for some final touches.

Despite the extensive size of Bravo, Nuvolari Lenard created a stunning low profile with exquisite proportions reminiscent of a sport yacht rather than a superyacht. FERRETTI GROUP STANDOUTS

2019 is off to a sparkling start for Ferretti Group with its incredible news, unveiled for the first time at the BOOT, the most important nautical event of the winter season, scheduled in Düsseldorf from January 19 to 27.

In a world preview, Ferretti Group unveiled the masterpiece of the ‘X Generation,’ the new Pershing 8X, along with a fleet of seven other iconic models. The new creation by Pershing will steal the spotlight of the next nautical season. Its sporty, streamlined lines, combined with unsurpassed standards of quality and innovation, are the result of the collaboration between the architect Fulvio De Simoni, Ferretti Group Strategic Product Committee and the Engineering Department of the Group.

Pershing 8X, made of carbon fiber, is revolutionary from a stylistic-functional point of view as well as from a performance one. The sport-fly, in fact, guarantees not only lightness and increased speed, but also greater comfort on board, thanks to larger, more welcoming spaces. The new Riva 90’ Argo was also officially presented: the 90-foot project born from the collaboration with Officina Italiana Design, the studio founded by the designers Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, joins the latest generation of Riva flybridge range, alongside Riva 100’ Corsaro and Riva 110’ Dolcevita.

The BOOT was also the stage for the presentation of four new projects that trace the beginning of a revolutionary stylistic and design path, characterised by the collaboration with some of the most famous architects worldwide.

All of the announcements were heeded with great enthusiasm: the new semi-displacement super yacht Custom Line Navetta 30, which bears the signature of two exceptional designers, architects Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel; Ferretti Yachts 720, which cleverly combines the classic-contemporary style of Ferretti Yachts and a modern great impact design conceived by the architect Filippo Salvetti; CRN 70M megayacht, developed in collaboration with designers Andrea Vallicelli and Alessandro Nazareth, who took care of the concept, of the external lines and of the interior partitioning; and 48 Wallytender, which is one of the most anticipated premières of the next Cannes Yachting Festival.

NAJIBA

Designed as a family super- yacht for experienced owners, this latest scion of the Feadship fleet blends sleek and minimalist exterior lines with a detailed, high-end interior. Having owned several yachts, the clients who ordered Najiba were fulfilling a long-held dream to commission a pure custom Feadship. To ensure they retained some of the European design influences they cherish, the owners partnered with Vitruvius Yachts and Philippe Briand as designers and naval architects, with Claudio Cicconetti being responsible for developing the general arrangement.

In a textbook example of teamwork, they were joined by interior designer Guillaume Rolland of Studio Christian Liaigre, owner’s project manager Peter Wilson from MCM and the Feadship builders and naval architects on a project that the owners found thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end.

Najiba is the first Feadship to feature a Vitruvius Yachts design, the signature of which is clear in her sleek, low and timeless profile. The interior of Najiba has a highly original layout, including two master staterooms. An open- plan arrangement on the main deck –with no central staircase area blocking the vista – allows for views all the way forward through one of those staterooms (when open) to the bow. There are very few straight surfaces found on Najiba, with a wealth of angles and curved ceilings in an interior that has a sailing yacht feel with lots of teak deployed to fine effect.

Distinguished and elegant, with a unique beauty all of her own, the 58-metre Feadship Najiba certainly lives up to her name, meaning ‘noble’.

CRN’S SHE

CRN presents She, the new 70-metre custom yacht project with a sophisticated style and delicate harmony of form.

The new concept has been developed by the CRN Technical Office working closely with Vallicelli Design, the Italian architecture and design studio helmed by Andrea Vallicelli and Alessandro Nazareth.

As her name suggests, the She design concept exudes a certain femininity of touch with a subtly seductive construction, as can be appreciated in the generous spaces on the decks and the ample, welcoming interiors. The slender profile and linear styling, with the horizontal line inscribed from the bow all along the hull and around the transom, lend the architectural composition a certain effervescence.

The clarity of the design shines through in the hallmark blend of geometrical expressiveness and the fluidity of the decorative elements. This personal aesthetic signature is visible both in the lines of the side gunwales, forming two wings in the fore area on the upper and owner decks, and in the beauty of the forward canopies and glass railings.

With her five decks, array of outdoor areas, and transcendent interior comfort, She is designed for an owner who loves to spend long periods on board with their guests while savouring the cruising experience.

Andrea Vallicelli, Architect at Vallicelli Design, said: “Working with CRN is always an exciting challenge, and this project is no exception. As the yacht’s name suggests, the softness and delicacy of feminine forms have strongly inspired this design and its fluid, elegant lines.”

RIVA TAKES CENTRE STAGE

The iconic Riva Iseo leaves its legendary wake in the snow of Cortina D’Ampezzo.

The Ferretti Group’s legendary and worldrenowned Riva was the official partner of the 11th Superyacht Design Symposium, held this year in the stunning and exclusive Cortina D’Ampezzo in late January.

Defining innovation: this was the focus of the prestigious symposium of the international luxury yachting industry and, during the event, Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group, made his contribution to the topic.

He focussed on innovation with the audience with a focus on Riva, the Group’s iconic brand, a true example of coherence and evolution in the yachting world. The heritage of the brand has been honoured through its strong DNA and it comes across in every model, from the 1950s Tritone to the latest Riva 90’ Argo, which joins Riva’s last flybridge generation and the yachts that go up to 95 metres in length.

A stunning and stylish Iseo runabout will be on display - and sure to catch the eyes of people strolling around in search of stunning sights - at Cortina D’Ampezzo in Corso Italia 94, an exclusive setting where luxury, elegance, style and innovation meet.

Many yachting and luxury enthusiasts had the chance to admire the 27-footer up close, one of the most appreciated masterpieces in the Riva range, featuring elegant lines, cuttingedge technology and impressive performance.

DUBAI WELCOMES OCEANA

Dubai Cruise Tourism, a department of Dubai’s Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), alongside its public and private sector partners welcomed cruise ship Oceana into Dubai for the debut of UK-based, P&O Cruises into the region as it homeports for the season.

The event was commemorated with a traditional ‘Plaque Exchange’ ceremony between the ship’s captain, and key industry stakeholders including Dubai Tourism, DP World, DNRD, Dubai Customs and PCFC Security. Underscoring Dubai’s continued focus on bolstering its position as the most viable gateway for both regional and international cruise itineraries, the ship is scheduled to make six round trip programmes, bringing in over 20,000 tourists to Dubai during the 2018/2019 season.

At 261.30 meters long and weighing over 77,000 tonnes, Oceana will remain in-port in Dubai for over 48 hours at a time giving guests the chance to explore the city’s diverse tourist experiences and varied attractions before setting sail on an exciting itinerary across the Arabian Gulf.

Until March 22, the luxury liner will offer three

different itineraries as part of its Arabian Gulf fly-cruise programme ranging from seven nights covering ports in the UAE and Bahrain; 10 nights covering UAE, Oman and Bahrain; and a 13-14 nights between Dubai and Malta on its repositioning voyages. During the 2019-2020 cruise season, the liner will have an extended deployment in Dubai with 14 calls offering a variety of itineraries to an anticipated 40,000 tourists.

Dubai’s cruise industry is set for a strong performance throughout the 2018/19 season, with an anticipated 725,000 cruise tourists travelling into the emirate.

The on-board comfort is extraordinary; thanks to the many benefits offered by the new system that integrates propulsion control with the manoeuvring, navigation, and monitoring systems. With the new 8X, “piloting” a Pershing, even at high speeds and without the support of the captain, is fun and accessible. A staggering 25.55 metres in length (approx. 83’) and 5.86 metres wide (approx. 19’)

Pershing 8X stems from the collaboration between yacht designer Fulvio De Simoni, the Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee, headed by Mr. Piero Ferrari, and the Group’s Engineering Department. Pershing 8X expands the current range of the brand, as it is situated in the under 30-metre market segment as an innovative product that represents a true evolution in terms of stylistic-functional aspects and performance.

Made of carbon fibre, this new model features lines that are even sleeker and sportier, enhanced by characteristic Pershing elements like imposing side wings and the aerodynamic profile of the sundeck. The result is a yacht in the sport-fly range with an unrivalled combination of quality and innovation.

with surface propellers. The vessel reaches a top speed of 45 knots and cruising speed up to 38 knots, with maximum range of 320 nautical miles (preliminary data). In continuity with its predecessor Pershing 82, this model as well offers the option to install – present on the first unit – twin 2638 Mhp MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines with which Pershing 8X can reach and exceed 48 knots, guaranteeing a full 41 knots of cruising speed. The aft swimming platform leads to the garage that can hold one Williams Sportjet 345 jet tender and one jet-ski. Stepping up to the cockpit, it overlooks an area with a sunpad and opposite a dinette with a sofa and a coffee table that can be electrically lowered on request to create a second relaxation space. On the port side, Pershing introduces the first distinctive and characterising innovation of the new 8X: the stairway giving access to the sundeck is integrated in the characteristic Pershing side wing, which thus becomes a functional as well as an aesthetic element. Composed of black painted steel steps covered in teak, framed by a carbon fibre upright and two lifelines, this new solution not only highlights the clean style but above all allows the owner to dedicate more space to convivial life in the spacious 22m² cockpit as well as on the sundeck.

Bathed in natural light, the main deck is organised into three separate spaces: lounge, dining area, and helm station. The double-side access, via two doors at the helm station, enables the proper distribution of flows with separation of the areas, offering the owner and his guests the maximum intimacy and privacy.

In the lounge, a large C-shaped sofa with chaise longue is situated on the starboard bulwark, with the TV opposite integrated into the cabinet. The dining area features a table for eight and low cabinetry on the two bulwarks. Beyond this area, the helm station, magnificent in its form and practicality of use, is a masterpiece of design, surprising in its elegance, technology, and sportiness. A large dark glass sliding roof above the control station further accentuates the sporty nature of the 8X. The port side of the helm station provides access to the lower deck, where a central corridor regulates

the flows to the four cabins. From the full-beam master cabin amidships to the foredeck VIP cabin with dedicated bathroom on the left, and on to the two guest cabins along the corridor, both double with the possibility to have a pullman bed, sharing the bathroom to starboard. The owner’s cabin is noteworthy, reaching 20 m² in width and furnished with a large central bed measuring 180 x 200 cm, at the back of which, to port, is the walk-in closet and to starboard, the bathroom. This configuration is designed to guarantee greater acoustic insulation from the engine room, situated a full five meters from the guest zone. A chaise longue to the left and a vanity complete the furnishings of the space, enhanced by a number of storage compartments and a TV facing the bed.

The new Pershing 8X model features an innovative new element not only for the brand but for the entire pleasure craft industry: the Music Hull, which makes it possible to listen to music underwater during dive sessions or while swimming. This is a new way to experience relaxation in the sea with a listening quality never before achieved.

Whether brand new or a pre-owned Approved model, Ferrari delivers luxury and performance every time, and Hadag just can’t get enough…

Who does not want to own a Ferrari? There are few people who would claim not to be interested in slipping behind the wheel of their very own luxury model and burning rubber on the tarmac. We at Hadag are certainly amongst those who would not kick such a vehicle out of our garage and were excited, as always, to see what Ferrari has to offer. Thanks to Ferrari Bahrain, we were given the opportunity to experience the visually stunning GTC4Lusso T and we soaked up ever minute of the occasion.

Designed by Ferrari’s Styling Centre, the GTC4Lusso T has an extremely streamlined and tapered shape that gives it an almost fastback-like silhouette. Its lines and curves flow effortlessly along its body, displaying the attention given to every aerodynamic detail of the vehicle. The exterior design is so beautifully constructed that it is easy to forget that this is in fact a four-door motorcar. At just under five meters long, just under two meters wide and weighing in at one and three-quarter metric tons, this car is certainly no toy and we were most anxious to see what this mechanical marvel was capable of on the roads. This luxury vehicle continued to impress as its interior revealed an effortless merging of sophisticated elegance, superb occupant comfort and sportiness. All of the materials, stitching and trimmings are of premium quality and the layout of all the controls are relatively user friendly, with many of them being located on the magnificently designed steering wheel. The GTC4Lusso T features

unique Dual Cockpit architecture, designed to enhance the shared driving experience for both driver and passenger. It also incorporates the latest interaction of the infotainment system complete with an impressive 10.25” HD capacitive touchscreen. The rear seating offers ample knee and head room and would provide comfortability for an adult on a relatively long road trip. The boot is reasonably sized and does offer a respectable compartment for luggage, made much larger by the folding down of the rear seats. The most impressive aspect of a Ferrari however, should always be its performance and the GTC4Lusso T did not fail to live up to this demand. As soon as its 3.9-litre V8 engine was engaged, the noise alone was enough to excite us all. This excitement rose to a fever pitch as the car surged from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds! This motor vehicle’s maximum power output is 610 cv at 7500 rpm, while the maximum torque of 760 Nm is available between 3000 and 5250 rpm. This translates to a maximum speed of 320 km/h. This power is kept in check by the vehicle’s smooth handling, ample traction and impressive breaking system. There were moments in which we realised we were holding our breath as the GTC revealed its performance capabilities to us. When the resort announced the launch of its Friday ‘Market Brunch’ at all-day-dining restaurant Sim Sim, we don’t think Abu Dhabi diners were quite prepared for what was to transpire. The culinary team at the Saadiyat Rotana has clearly been watching the scene carefully, taking the idea of the international buffet and running with it, while also introducing some unique touches that result in one of the best new brunches to launch in the capital for some time.

The market feel begins from the moment you enter, with wooden tressels and crates loaded with organic fruit and vegetables. This visual assault of colour is utilised for more than just thematics and the fresh produce can be purchased to take home, a novel idea and one that really appears to have resonated with diners.

Inside the restaurant itself, an international buffet overwhelms guests with everything from the expected salads and cold cuts, through to a make-your-own hummus station, sumptuous Indian corner and an Asian section featuring dim sum, spicy noodles and a Peking duck that is bound to delight. The carefully constructed sushi comes in a variety of flavours and is sure to please, as is the expansive boulangerie and bakery replete with freshly baked bread, burrata and a good selection of European cheeses.

The brunch is too large to be contained within the confines of Sim Sim, spilling out into the gardens, where you’ll find the majority of beverage stations and the BBQ. Arabic grills are tender and well seasoned, but it’s the spinning metal disc, rotating hypnotically over the flame and containing the slow-cooked brisket that is the unique aspect of this particular brunch.

The European market concept is executed well with the seafood market making for a popular choice where guests are

invited to pick from the iced fish and live crustaceans before taking them outside to be grilled. Lobsters, crab and whole sea bass are available and while cooking takes a little longer than expected, it’s worth the wait when the items do finally arrive at the table.

Desserts are a visual treat displayed between vintage luggage and a gramophone. The pastry team impress with some masterful creations such as cakes shaped like Coca Cola bottles and giant cheeseburgers. Fresh gelato, a chocolate fountain and a tiramisu cake are of note and should not be missed.

A live-band brings energy to proceedings with a repertoire of popular hits that’s bound to get the crowd moving and as expected from the Rotana brand, the Market Brunch is very family-friendly with a kids area provided by My First Gym on the grassy lawns.

The Market Brunch covers a lot of bases and it’s easy to see why it’s creating such a stir in the capital. The price point is at the upper levels of Abu Dhabi brunching but is reflective of the quality and vast selection on offer. We would recommend springing for the premium package which not only elevates the beverages but also adds a touch of brunch decadence via oysters, caviar and craft hops, located in a shaded courtyard that can only be accessed by those with a premium wristband.

Alain Ducasse, the internationally acclaimed chef and creator has launched his first restaurant in the UAE: miX Dubai – a space spread over three floors, with unparalleled views of the sea and Palm Jumeirah.

Cleverly split out into three distinct zones, the 400-cover space takes inspiration from a galactic scene, a space between dream and reality. Conceived as a contemporary interpretation of Islamic mocarabes, a flowing ceiling of transparent acrylic tubes sweeps across this 500sqm dining room in a single fluid gesture.

The focal point of the restaurant is a gargantuan, golden Fabergé Egg which sits inside the dome of Emerald Palace Kempinski, spanning an impressive three floors. Chef Ducasse worked closely with Manuel Clavel of Clavel Architecture and Interior Design to create luxury, sophistication and surprise - the egg representing mystery and secrets locked inside its centre.

The top level of the restaurant is the true jewel, as the private Chef’s Table. It is hidden from view and only accessible through a private elevator with dedicated kitchen, terrace and a central table for 12 guests. The incredible setting along with resident DJ Memed Awad, will bring energy and elegance to the miX restaurant and terraces.

With contemporary French know-how, miX Dubai by Alain Ducasse features a well-rounded menu that will change according to the season. It provides a one-of-a-kind experience of inspired French cuisine with local and international influences to cater to the sophisticated Dubai crowd. Stand-out miX DELUX dishes include: Marinated raw blue shrimps, caviar; Pan-seared duck foie gras, dolce forte sauce and seascallops, lettuce cream and white truffles.

Moving into a completely separate space, the 44-cover miX Bar and Lounge is a more intimate, informal area where guests can enjoy a wide

selection of wines and an eclectic cocktail menu, in a casual setting. With of-the-moment counter top seating, the sleek area gives off a laidback vibe, reminiscent of cosmopolitan cities around the world. Order a selection of moreish sharing plates between friends and enjoy views of Dubai on the terrace - set to become the rendez-vous point of the city, the place to see and be seen. Delectable sharing plates include raw bites: Sea bream Ceviche, Leche de Tigre; hot dishes: Wagyu Beef, Green Pepper Condiment and miX Delux dishes: Crab Club Sandwich.

The 70-cover miX+ area offers an intimate dining experience with its unique location, private bar and unique vantage point overlooking the inimitable Dubai skyline. Located on the opposite terrace, the private dining area seating 48, is a cylindrical space of 190sqm just below the main dome of the building; the stand-out feature being the convex curved golden shape of the egg hung from the centre.

Beyond the dining areas, the multiple miX terraces boast awe-inspiring, 360 views of Dubai, with the sunset one side and skyline of the Palm Jumeirah on the other. The vast miX restaurant terrace, seating 100 guests is visually arresting, with sculptural golden shapes, with a curated mix of high top and low seating, as well as a shisha menu.
