Moving into a
New Age
A
s we move further into the 21st Century and the 3rd decade begins, we inhabit a world of ever-increasing rapid change. The cycles are moving faster than before and we are being asked to leave behind systems that will not serve us in the future. Some personalities embrace the change and move forward accepting new technologies with enthusiasm. Others resist and try to slow the inevitable wheel of progress. It is not always easy to see the benefits of change when the way things have been seemed to work. Some hidden force is driving the experience forward. The planet earth rotates daily without our permission, we travel in orbit around our Sun without even thinking about it. Our Solar System led by the Sun moves through space at a reported speed of 20,000 km per second towards an unknown destination. We are participating in all of this without giving it much, if any, thought at all. Distracted by the dramas of the mundane, we give little consideration to the macrocosm we are involved in. Where are we headed? What are we progressing towards? Who is driving the bus? The experience of this cosmic dance is towards enlightenment and it can be an exhilarating one. Ruphert Sheldrake contributed the idea that we are involved in the Morphic Resonance Field. Each thought and action influence the field of potential and slightly alters the direction of the collective future experience. Consider it a privilege to be on this bus, to share the ride with other unsuspecting souls. We never really know who sits beside us, or how long they will
accompany us on the journey towards who knows where. We are not even sure from one day to the next when it will be our turn to stand from our seat and depart the bus. To embrace the journey with curiosity and kindness will make the ride more pleasant for ourselves and the other passengers. Have faith rather than fear about our destination and trust the invisible driver to properly do his job. An interesting thing in the crazy world of duality is that opposites cancel each other out. This is such an important clue on how to live a happy life. Identify the feeling that presides and apply the remedy of opposite. When you live in fear you have lost your faith. If you add trust, doubt will evaporate. Unhappy? Put some fun on your menu. Even feeling like a victim dissolves when you add a daily dose of gratitude. If these suggestions sound too uncomplicated, perhaps you have allowed a habit to form of reacting in a certain way to life. Habits left unchecked become personalities and personalities create filters of perception that influence the way we see the world. If you still feel resistance to the future, whether you are on the bus or wondering about the planets survival, I suggest you allow the other passengers in your life to inspire you. y business projects are based on an idea and if the feeling / hunch is strong enough I go with it and take action. When we first started our markets in Avoca 11 years ago, we had two small kids, had not long moved to the coast and had no idea how to run a market. Again, we acted on our hunch and took action. There was so much planning to do with all the council obligations and it felt overwhelming. We kept going and the first market rained and we had to cancel. It was devastating. After we finally went ahead, we held the markets there for a year. We were then told we would have to move up the road to a new location. At the time it was a big deal, as the beachfront location was spectacular and so much planning had gone into that site.
What we didn’t know at the time was that we were being gifted a much bigger, and even more beautiful site, with the huge trees, lagoon and the beach still so close. Looking back, it was a total blessing in disguise, as it propelled the market into a beautiful place for many creatives. I do believe that what flows to us with little resistance is what’s meant for us, and I’m stepping into this more and more. Sustaining a healthy balance for me has definitely had its challenges. I find when you love what you do and it does not feel like work it’s difficult to stop sometimes! The iphone these days also means I can work anywhere, answering emails, doing socials etc, so I find nature to be the great balancer. Going for a barefoot walk, or even heading away to camp while I work is something I often to keep my balance. The things that make me smile are random acts of kindness, sitting in circle with friends, family and my dog Gypsy. 2020 has been such a blessing for our family. Working so hard for years it was a welcome relief to just slow down. Like so many others we had time to be more creative, cook as a family, walk together and really just pause. My husband Brad had the time finally to fullfill a lifelong dream of being able to get his study complete to become a teacher. 2020 has brought us closer together. It’s been a great time of reflection, unity and clarity. Sometimes, of course, the togetherness was a bit much, as we are all so used to our own lives and routines. I had to head out for a walk for quiet time. I see us in ten years still doing creative work on the coast, but I also plan on studying astrology next year. That will also be a part of my ten year plan to help guide others through astrology. It would be nice to have a business
one day that is not at the mercy of mother nature the way outdoor events are! I’m hoping our family remain close, loving and connected. All honoring ourselves and following our hunches and working it out together. I pray our society really starts to listen as we are close to a tipping point in humanity. We need to come together as a community, look after each other and ourselves. Mother earth needs to breathe and be honoured again. We are being given an opportunity to change the path that lay ahead but the time is NOW. The next ten years will be the result of what we have all collectively chosen. I pray, the choosing is done consciously. Life is good. G

The history of
IRidology E
yes are often described as the windows to the soul.The study of the eyes which is used to diagnose and improve health is called Iridology. By studying the coloured part of your eye, which is called the Iris, for patterns, colour and fibre structure, the Iridologist can quickly access the general state of health, and any underlying conditions or pre-dispositions. Each organ and part of the body has a corresponding area that is represented in your iris. Interpretation of these signs helps to establish how your body is working. Other aspects of Iridology can also indicate genetically inherited and lifestyle patterns which may help to establish the trajectory of your life path. This information then helps to provide a basis of treatment with herbs, nutritional and other natural medicines to enhance your health. In the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, writings and works on Iris markings and their meanings were recorded, mainly by general medical practitioners. One of the earliest was Dr Ignatz von Peczely, a Hungarian doctor. While still a child he accidentally broke the leg of an owl. He noticed a black mark appearing in the owl’s eye, which over time changed in form and shading.
Ignatz von Peczely qualified in medicine at the Vienna Medical College in 1867. He had ample opportunity to study the irises of patients before and after surgery, systematically recording, correlating and publishing his research in the book, Discoveries in the Realms of Nature and Art of Healing. His ‘Iris Chart’ was established in 1880. In the 1860’s, a young Swedish boy, Nils Liljequist became ill as the consequence of a vaccination. Following doses of quinine and iodine he noticed changes in colour of his formerly blue eyes, as the drug spots appeared. In 1870, he published a paper describing his experiences, Quinine and Iodine change the Colour of the Iris, and in 1893 published Om Oegendiagnosen, which included his ‘Iris Chart’. We should not be surprised that Liljequist and von Peczely’s ‘Iris Charts’ were very similar. Gnostic Healing is developing a strong team of practitioners to address any health imbalances. Malachite
This green banded mineral from the Congo is one of the most easily identified and striking crystals for collectors young and old. At Gnostic Rocks we’ve found that there is some fake malachite creeping out into the retail market that is fooling some people. We’ve melted some chip bracelets with a lighter to prove to an unsuspecting supplier that got duped! Fake Malachite can be identified by jagged banding and is usually quite a bit lighter in weight than the real McCoy which gets its dense weight from the copper that is a part of its composition. Natural Malachite is heavy for its size and the banding is rounded, organic and flowing like growth rings of a tree. It can also be found with associated minerals like Azurite or Chrysocolla. Check over pieces to see if they have been back filled with crushed grains of malachite – it’s not a big deal but the valleys in some specimens get filled like this for aesthetic reasons. Be sure to buy your gemstones from reputable and experienced dealers to be sure you don’t get duped. Remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is! Keep Rockin, Emily

ach Year Thomas Zimer constructs a valuable tool for planting by the phases of the moon. This informative wall chart shows and explains the best times to plant certain crops. Root vegetables like to be planted during the third week of the moon cycle, while annuals and leafy greens respond better to planting during the week of the New Moon. There is also an educated overview of the astrological influences for the upcoming year. 2020 Thomas saw as a year of homeostasis, he describes the earth’s ability to adapt and heal. He suggested a remedy for living in a time of ‘craziness’. The individual should live in a state of mindfulness and purpose. There is nothing quite as effective in keeping one out of negativity and despair as a clear sense of purpose. When our motivation is basically to help out, to make things better for someone, then we will never be too far from happiness. With the accuracy of the 2020 forecast we can look with confidence to what Thomas predicts for 2021 – the atmosphere of crises will soon settle down, we still have to digest what
we have learned in over a decade of disillusionment. But the intensity will drop away. During 2020 restrictions limited your outside engagements which gave you a nicer more creative, healthy, and relaxing experience. We now live in a post truth society the habit of trusting authorities has given way to cynicism and disbelief. There is a subtle phenomenon in operation here, your own faculty of intuition is beginning to open. The gift comes in a quiet flash of insight at a moment of questioning. Somehow you get a satisfactory sense of understanding or direction. This activates the most amazing coincidences in your life, whereby problems are resolved in ways you couldn’t have figured out logically. Apparently, the Zen masters say that. You wouldn’t imagine that I could screw up such a basic directive so often. Maybe the Zen masters aren’t on social media. Do they have vegan schnitzel burgers and double shot iced coffee in the monasterys? The subtle wisdom of my body sits waiting patiently as I dart about, distracted by my senses and my internal stories. Whatever the stimulus to ignoring my knowing, it’s always another opportunity to step outside of habit and deeply observe ‘what is’ to know what’s needed. In meeting these desires – probably more aptly called distractions – I switch off from the signals my body gives me. That it is tired, that it is full. Learning to distinguish what the body needs and what it craves is a part of my training. The true lesson of “Eat when hungry, Sleep when tired” is actually in the flip side. Don’t eat when you aren’t hungry. And that covers all manner of consumption… be it
TV, social media, attention… When you reach for an external stimulus, what are you really needing? To bring awareness and not to use food (or anything external) as a substitute for emotional or spiritual sustenance. Sitting back and checking in on where the actual need is. Comfort comes in many forms and exploring self-care through somatic communion – talking to your body – can have surprising results. Choosing a bath over a bowl of ice cream, or an early night snuggled down in bed resting over another season of something on Netflix. Your body and being talks so loudly if you are willing to listen. Those clever Zen practitioners also say: “The biggest bowl fills last”. When we don’t take note and pause in appreciation of our satisfaction, our unconscious cravings begin to drive our experience. Through awareness and appreciation, we can learn to keep our “bowl” small. In this way it doesn’t take much to satisfy. In Roman and Greek Mythology there were three Charites or “Graces”: Aglaia, the Grace that symbolized Beauty, Euphrosyne, (Euphrasia) the Grace of Delight and Thalia, the Grace of Blossom. According to Greek poet Pindar, these enchanting goddesses were created to fill the world with pleasant moments and goodwill. Exploring the
paranoRmal a
nne and Renata have both been interested in the paranormal since their teens and have pursued the desire to learn more about ghost hunting by joining and moving through various groups and teams until their paths crossed about 5 years ago. Renata had organised a ghost cruise to Melbourne but suffered from terrible sea sickness and so had to go on a search for a tour guide that could look after her tour group whilst they were travelling from Sydney to Melbourne and back onboard ship. This was the beginning of a collaboration that has just grown to include continued study, travel overseas, work with well known internationally respected ghost hunters/paranormal investigators, guest speaking engagements, establishing the Australian School of Ghost hunting and more. They also still work on their own businesses, Anne with Oz Para Tech, the largest online paranormal equipment store in Australia, and Renata with Newcastle Ghost Tours, a multi award winning dark tourism business in its 10th year. Over the past few years both ladies have joined forces to include a weekly vodcast on paranormal topics as well as free live tarot readings also once a week. 020 brought us a lot of surprises – some good and some not so good. So now it is time to get ready for 2021. Its all about the flow of energy. It’s time to move as much energy as you can in your house. We all want and need peace and harmony. Here are few easy hints to make the home or work place a pleasure to be in – without spending a fortune! I feel this time we will start at the front gate and have a walk through your home. Let’s get things moving for the new year. Can people find you easily? If they can’t, how will the good energy find us? Have your house number nice and clear and the path to your front door easy to walk. No rubbish or brooms and such outside your front door. Inside the door, have the Money Frog facing in to help with wealth. A boat in the entry of the home, also facing inwards, brings you the harvest of life. Don’t have a mirror opposite the door, it sends the good energies back out! The lounge room is where we welcome our
guests and should always be extra tidy. It is the impression we show the world. In the Dining Room always sit in the same chair at the table or you are giving your power away. Eat at the table at least once a day as a family, to unite the energy of the family and the home. These simple tips may sound like obvious things, but if you do a check around you will most certainly find a few things you can do to improve the natural flow of energy and improve the harmony in your home and family. If – like a lot of families – the children bicker at the table, have a picture of a bridge by the table. re you interested in trying out a yoga class at Gnostic? Maybe Yoga is on your bucket list for 2021. If yoga is on your bucket list let me demystify a few things for you. Your age is no barrier, the age of my clients ranges from 15 to 101. Your level of fitness, flexibility, balance and strength is irrelevant. There is a class suitable for you – from safely sitting in a chair to powerful and challenging sequences. Yoga will compliment other sporting and fitness modalities. There is no particular yoga wear. Yoga is not a religion or gender specific. There is no particular body shape required, no special language has to be learnt, you don’t have to chant, burn incense, eat mung beans or have been born under a relevant star sign. If you want to deepen your knowledge of yoga beyond the exercise you will be given that opportunity, but it won’t be forced. What you do need is a desire to improve your wellness through structured and focused movement. Your physical and mental health will improve. The body functions at it’s optimum when it moves, that’s what it’s designed to do. Yoga classes are structured in a format that ensures all the various planes of movement are activated so that every system of your body is stimulated and enhanced. You won’t be forced into patterns of movement that are uncomfortable, cause pain or aggravate old injuries. Your individual needs will be respected and catered for. You will be introduced to practices aimed at calming your breath and relaxing your mind, a great way to de-stress, chill and improve your sleep.
