Restart. Really RIPARTIRE. DAVVERO

This quote, commonly attributed to Buddha, applies also to the textile world’s recent return to normality, with due proportion and respect, of course.

This La Spola – Showcase issue is, in fact, released on the occasion of the first “back-to-normal” trade shows which, for an extraterrestrial coming back to Earth from the outer space after a three-year absence, would seem absolutely normal: no face masks, different languages spoken among the stands and an attendance no longer (or nearly no longer) conditioned by restrictions and travelling difficulties.

Which is why many pieces in the magazine focus on the idea of “starting all over again” in terms of both rebirth and renewal. The forced Covid break and the coming and going of lockdowns and restrictions chopped and changed plans, making things very difficult for textile companies, as well as for trade show and event organizers.

The Far-Eastern “audience” is still missing, but it’s only a matter of time before they are back.

So the magazine is very pleased to share with you the experiences of people who have brought a historic company such as Canepa back to its original splendor or have set well-established organizations, like the Promozione Filati Consortium and the Proposte show, on a new course. Proposte is one of those trade fairs that, in springtime, took its first steps back to normality with restrictions and limitations steadily lifting.

We are also back with our traditional overview of the trade shows, including the latest news from London, the unusual Frankfurt threesome and the Milano Unica and Première Vision summer shows being held close to one another again. And this explosion of trade shows in summertime influenced this issue’s culinary choice: poke, the quintessential summer food, to work off the stress after a hard day’ s work with taste.

“Non importa quanto duro sia stato il passato, puoi sempre ricominciare da capo”. Una citazione che viene attribuita a Buddha che, con tutte le dovute proporzioni ed il rispetto, potrebbe trovare una sua verità anche nel ritorno ad una normalità più che accennata anche nel mondo del tessile.

Questo numero di La Spola – Showcase esce in occasione dei primi veri saloni che, per un extraterrestre tornato sulla Terra dopo un’assenza di tre anni, sembreranno assolutamente “normali”: senza mascherine, con lingue diverse l’una dall’altra tra gli stand e con un’affluenza non più (o quasi) regolata da divieti e difficoltà di spostamenti.

Per questo tra i vari articoli c’è molta “ripartenza”, sia in termini di vera e propria rinascita che di rinnovamento. La pausa obbligata dal Covid ed il fatto che i lockdown e le restrizioni siano arrivati a corrente alternata e senza una programmazione certa hanno reso difficile scandire i tempi del lavoro per le aziende, così come per chi organizza fiere ed eventi. E’ vero che mancherà ancora una “audience” orientale ma anche per quella il conto alla rovescia potrebbe essere pronto a partire.

Così ospitiamo volentieri le voci di chi sta riportando agli antichi fasti un’azienda storica come Canepa e di chi ha fatto iniziare il nuovo corso di realtà ben consolidate come il Consorzio Promozione Filati o la fiera Proposte, un altro dei saloni che in primavera ha sperimentato un’apertura in termini di restrizioni e divieti, dimostrando che i primi passi verso la normalità erano stati compiuti.

Non manca la solita panoramica proprio sulle fiere, con le novità londinesi, l’insolito tris di Francoforte e la ritrovata vicinanza estiva sul calendario di Milano Unica e Première Vision. E proprio questa esplosione di fiere durante l’estate ha indirizzato la scelta gastronomica di questo numero: il poke, piatto esotico e rinfrescante per eccellenza. Per smaltire con gusto le ore passate tra gli stand.

From Tuscany to Piedmont, from Prato to Biella. Consorzio Promozione Filati goes on keeping the spinning world together and the sign coming from the election of the new president is clear: everyone is rowing in the same direction. A concept not so common in the textile world, where local patriotism counts more than the textile chain’s interests.

Which is why appointing Alberto Enoch, the MD of Servizi e Seta, to replace Federico Gualtieri is a sign of continuity, as confirmed by the newly-elected President who will make his first official appearance as head of the Consortium at the Pitti Filati show. And along with Enoch the new board, whose members are Raffaella Pinori (Pinori Filati), Roberta Pecci (Pecci Filati), Leonardo Mannelli (Casa del Filato), Alberto Corti (Monticolor) and Simone Parlamento (Di. Vè). The Feel the Contest competition, trips abroad to promote the Feel the Yarn brand, collaborations with experts and commitment to digital innovation are only a few of the goals on which the Consortium plans to focus.

You have been elected at a time of restart and reset. The optimal context for new initiatives or will you continue along the path set by Gualtieri?

The path set by Federico is the one to follow: improving and increasing the initiatives already in progress by putting more emphasis on the ideas of the Consortium’s members in order to share the best practices. We realize that widespread presence on our target markets is becoming increasingly important in order to reach out to a higher number of customers. CPF has become aware of this need and has turned it into an opportunity for all the Consortium’s members with, as a result, many “ visits” and a high attendance at our workshops. We received positive feedback from our customers, which is gratifying and encourages us to keep going in this direction .

From Prato to Biella. The two districts have not always had the same vision, but CPF is a good example of teamwork looking beyond local interests. Is it mere chance or has the yarn industry finally become more “we’re in it together”?

The two districts share the goal of working together as one more and more: it is not mere chance that we have been able to join forces to reach common goals, reaching out to consortium members from all over Italy. The new generations have an approach which is much more sharing-oriented and less divisive, but they also know how to seize the opportunities of growth and development in a concrete and successful way. The Consortium is an incubator of ideas and the entrepreneurs, by expressing their needs, work together to find the best solutions. At such a hard time, with sourcing from Southeast Asia becoming increasingly difficult and customers pressing to move the production to Europe or neighboring countries, differences in industrial visions are becoming less pronounced: joining forces and

Un concetto non sempre così usuale nel mondo tessile, dove a volte il campanile (o il capannone) vale più della città (o della filiera).

Per questo motivo la scelta di nominare Alberto Enoch, AD di Servizi e Seta, al posto di Federico Gualtieri è un segnale di continuità, come conferma il neo eletto, che a Pitti Filati avrà il suo primo impegno ufficiale alla guida del consorzio. E con lui anche il nuovo Consiglio Direttivo, che vedrà al “tavolo di comando” con Enoch anche Raffaella Pinori (Pinori Filati), Roberta Pecci (Pecci Filati), Leonardo Mannelli (Casa del Filato), Alberto Corti (Monticolor) e Simone Parlamento (Di.Vè).

Il concorso Feel the Contest, i viaggi di gruppo all’estero per promuovere il brand Feel the Yarn, le collaborazioni con esperti della filiera e l’impegno nel digitale sono solo alcuni degli obiettivi verso i quali concentrare lo sforzo comune del consorzio.

L'elezione arriva in un momento di svolta e ri-apertura. Un contesto ottimale per nuove iniziative o proseguirà sulla linea già avviata da Gualtieri?

La strada tracciata da Federico è quella da seguire: perfezionare e incrementare le iniziative già avviate dando ancora più risalto alle idee dei consorziati in un’ottica di condivisione delle migliori best practices.

Ci accorgiamo che ogni giorno di più è richiesta la presenza capillare sui mercati di riferimento per raggiungere il maggior numero di clienti e il CPF ha saputo cogliere questa necessità e farla diventare un’opportunità per tutti i consorziati con il risultato di ottenere molte “visite” e un successo di presenze ai nostri workshop. Il feed back positivo è arrivato in primis dai clienti e questo ci ha gratificato e fatto capire che dobbiamo continuare con perseveranza su questa via.

Da Prato a Biella. Non sempre i due distretti hanno visioni univoche ma il CPF è un esempio di come fare squadra al di là dei campanilismi. E' una casualità o il settore dei filati si presta a meno divisioni?

I due distretti hanno l’obiettivo di collaborare sempre di più: non è una casualità che abbiamo avuto la capacità di allearci per raggiungere risultati comuni, allargando sempre di più a consorziati da tutta Italia.

Le nuove generazioni hanno una visione che parla di condivisione ed è meno campanilista, ma sanno anche affrontare con immediatezza e semplicità le occasioni di sviluppo e crescita. Il consorzio è un incubatore di idee e gli imprenditori, manifestando le proprie esigenze, cercano di cogliere le soluzioni migliori. In questo difficile momento in cui le difficoltà di approvvigionamento dal sud est asiatico sono sempre più evidenti e si fa sempre più pressante la richiesta da parte della clientela di spostare le produzioni in Europa o in paesi limitrofi, le diverse visioni industriali sono sempre meno evidenti: fare squadra e operare in modo coeso aiuta a

working together helps to achieve goals and increase one’s chances of success.

Has something changed with your target markets because of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, in your opinion as both President of the Consortium and entrepreneur yourself ?

As President of the Consortium, in the light of the pandemic and current geopolitical situation, I hope for a strengthening of the collaboration between districts and entrepreneurs in order to increasingly promote and highlight the image of the Italian textile industry.

As entrepreneur, I am aware that it is a time of uncertainty and of the risk of the economy slowing down in the second part of year.

We need to be careful but, at the same time, there is a general longing for doing business again by investing more and more in digital technology which, combined with the physical world, provides new stimuli, allows new ideas to circulate and serves as a barometer of the market’s changes and customers’ new needs. In short: passion, more sharing of corporate goals and perseverance in achieving these goals.

The Pitti Filati show moves back to Fortezza da Basso. Do you agree or do you find the Leopolda a better option?

Fortezza da Basso is the Pitti show’s natural home and we are all happy to go back exhibiting there. The Leopolda was the only choice at a time of restrictions: now we are going back to our roots. I would like, however, to point out that exhibiting in a different location produced excellent results anyway and allowed us to overcome the current difficulties in showcasing the new collections.

What words would you use to encourage students of a training school to work in the spinning industry?

Passion, inquisitiveness, being willing to learn and train. If passion moves mountains, so to speak, the perseverance and skills that students develop at our schools or by doing internships at companies are the foundations for a successful future.

Alla luce di pandemia e guerra in Ucraina cosa cambia sui vostri mercati di riferimento? Sia come presidente del consorzio che come imprenditore con la sua azienda.

Alla luce della pandemia e della contingente situazione geopolitica, in qualità di presidente del Consorzio, auspico un rafforzamento della collaborazione tra distretti ed imprenditori per dare sempre più risalto all’ immagine del Tessile Italiano. Come amministratore della mia azienda confermo il momento di incertezza e il timore di un rallentamento dell’economia nella seconda parte dell’anno: occorre prudenza ma, allo stesso tempo, c’è il desiderio di tornare a fare business investendo ancora di più sul digitale che, fondendosi con il mondo fisico, crea nuovi impulsi e fa circolare nuove idee e serve come termometro per verificare i cambiamenti del mercato, le nuove esigenze dei clienti. In sintesi: passione, maggiore condivisione degli obiettivi aziendali e perseveranza nel raggiungimento degli stessi.

Pitti Filati torna alla Fortezza da Basso. Scelta condivisa o la Leopolda era uno spazio più a misura?

Fortezza da Basso è la sede naturale del Pitti e siamo tutti lieti di essere tornati ad esporre nella sede storica. La Leopolda è stata una scelta obbligata in un periodo di restrizioni: ora si torna alle origini. Ci tengo però a sottolineare che la possibilità di esporre in una sede diversa ha prodotto comunque validissimi risultati e ci ha permesso di superare le difficoltà contingenti nel presentare le collezioni in questo periodo storico.

Se entrasse in un istituto professionale e dovesse invogliare gli studenti a lavorare nella filatura che parole userebbe?

Passione, curiosità, voglia di apprendere e formazione. Se la passione muove le montagne, con la giusta perseveranza e la professionalità che si apprende sia nei nostri istituti che negli stage aziendali si creano le basi per un futuro di successo.

IL FUTURO DI PROPOSTE NELLE PAROLE DI ALESSANDRO TESSUTO

Just behind the corner is the 30th edition of the show. The recent past saw the appointment of a new president in place of Piercarlo Viganò.

For Proposte, the upholstery and drapery textile show, the link between its past and future is the present featuring a new board of directors and ideas which may change the face of the trade show and of Cernobbio.

But let’s proceed in order. At the end of the 29th show, Viganò completed his three-year term as President and basically recommended the name of his successor, his fellow entrepreneur Alessandro Tessuto.

71 years old and President of Clerici Tessuto, his family company, Tessuto’s career testifies to the entrepreneur’s passion for Como and its textile district, as well as to his dedication to his job. In addition to his sales experience for Clerici Tessuto, Proposte’s newly-elected president has run the consortium for Ideaitalia exports and the Italian Silk Office, he served as town councilor, leader of the Italian Silk Association, council member of Federtessile, founder of Sistema Moda Italia, President of Centro Tessile Serico and is one of the creators of the Seri.co quality brand. And also Councilor in charge of education, professional training and active labour market policies for the Province of Como, board member of Como’s Industrialists Association and Confindustria Como, member of Première Vision’s Strategy Committee and President of Amici di Como.

So his appointment as President of Proposte is the culmination of a long career. Sitting with him on Proposte’s board are Matteo Cavelli, who follows in his father Mauro’s footsteps, Viganò, Marco Parravicini from Parà and Diego Vercellino from Sirio Tendaggi.

Your appointment as President of Proposte coincided with the hoped-for and long-awaited relaunching of the whole textile industry. What can we expect from this first post-pandemic period?

The situation in Como and generally speaking is delicate, especially in the light of what happened in early 2022 with the war in Ukraine. At least textile entrepreneurs, in both the clothing and upholstery fields, enjoyed a good run from January to April. So we can say that the market has somehow recovered, but we have no idea about what is going to happen in the next coming months. The increase in electric and gas charges is a fatal blow to the whole textile chain.

How much do the Russian and Ukraine markets affect the sales of Como’s companies?

Many of our customers are French luxury brands which have stores in these two countries that have been closed.

Are your plans for the trade show in continuity with your predecessor or do you have some changes in mind?

At Proposte we have a huge problem, that is, the show has 70 exhibitors in the luxury end of the market who are surrounded, just outside Villa Erba, by 120 independent exhibitors, some of whom meeting with customers four days ahead of our show and many of them on Saturday and Sunday,

All’orizzonte c’è un’edizione da numero tondo, la trentesima. Nel recente passato è arrivata la nomina di un nuovo presidente al posto di Piercarlo Viganò. Per Proposte, la fiera del tessile per l’arredamento e il tendaggio, il passaggio tra passato e futuro è un presente caratterizzato da un nuovo CdA e da idee che potrebbero cambiare in parte il volto della fiera e di Cernobbio.

Ma andiamo per ordine. Alla fine della 29’ edizione Viganò ha terminato il mandato triennale da presidente ed ha in qualche modo indicato il nome del successore, il collega Alessandro Tessuto.

71 anni, presidente della Clerici Tessuto, l’azienda di famiglia, Tessuto ha un curriculum che testimonia la passione dell’imprenditore per Como e il suo distretto ma anche l’assoluta dedizione al lavoro. Al di là dell’attività di commerciale per la Clerici Tessuto il neo presidente di Proposte ha guidato il consorzio per le esportazioni Ideaitalia, l’Ufficio Italiano Seta, è stato consigliere comunale, leader dell’Associazione Serica Italiana, consigliere di Federtessile, fondatore di Sistema Moda Italia, tra gli ideatori del marchio di qualità Seri.co e presidente del Centro Tessile Serico.

E poi ancora assessore provinciale all’istruzione, alla formazione professionale e alle politiche attive del lavoro per la Provincia di Como, membro della giunta dell’Unione Industriali di Como, poi Confindustria Como, membro del Comitato di Strategia di Première Vision, e presidente di Amici di Como.

La carica a Proposte arriva quindi alla fine di un lungo percorso e appare come logica conseguenza di una vita passata nel tessile. Accanto a lui, nel nuovo consiglio del salone, Matteo Cavelli, che raccoglie il testimone dal padre Mauro, lo stesso Viganò, Marco Parravicini di Parà e Diego Vercellino di Sirio Tendaggi.

La sua nomina a presidente di Proposte coincide con un momento di rilancio, sperato e atteso, di tutto il settore tessile. Cosa ci dobbiamo attendere da questo primo periodo post pandemia?

La situazione a Como e in generale è ancora delicata, tanto più alla luce di quanto è successo da inizio 2022 in poi anche a livello di guerra in Ucraina. Se non altro veniamo noi imprenditori tessili, sia nell’abbigliamento che nell’arredamento, da un buon periodo iniziato a gennaio e finito ad aprile. Questo ci consente di dire che in un certo modo il mercato è ripreso, ma non sappiamo che cosa potrà succedere nei prossimi mesi. Anche perché l’aumento delle bollette della luce e del gas è un piombo mortale per tutta la filiera.

Il mercato russo e ucraino quanto influisce sui fatturati delle aziende di Como?

I nostri clienti sono spesso clienti francesi dei brand del lusso che hanno negozi in quei due Paesi e che se li sono visti chiudere.

Il suo programma per il salone è improntato alla continuità con chi l'ha preceduta o ha in mente qualche cambiamento?

A Proposte abbiamo un grosso problema, ovvero il fatto che il salone ha 70 espositori della fascia lusso che sono circondati, fuori da Villa Erba, da 120 espositori indipendenti, alcuni dei quali aprono ai clienti quattro giorni prima della nostra fiera e molti il sabato o la domenica, sempre in anticipo rispetto a

before we even open the show. This is totally unacceptable, we can’t carry on like this, we might be forced to leave Como and Villa Erba. So I will try to bring the independent exhibitors into Proposte, within a sort of parallel event running concurrently, such as the Fuori Salone during Milano’s Furniture Fair, as way of example. A feast of creativity and music, all together and on the same days.

Comocrea sent out a message to Proposte about “joining forces” for the coming fairs. Do you have an answer for them?

Comocrea represents a dozen design studios exhibiting outside the show, but they're not the problem. According to our statute, we cannot bring into the show companies that are not in the high-end segment of the market. But we can talk about whatever revolves around Cernobbio and our show.

You run an upholstery textile show, but you are also at the head of a clothing textile company, so you have an overall view of the markets. What markets are the most attractive at such a delicate time from the geopolitical point of view? And is it possible to go back doing business at trade shows?

The textile chain is sticking together and holding out, but we haven’t seen Russian, Chinese and Japanese customers in two years. After the pandemic, the reopening of trade shows was very important, because we were able to meet with people we hadn’t seen for two years, but the world has incredibly changed in the meantime and trade shows have lost some of their appeal, because relationships with customers in the luxury field are personal and based on public relations.

How developed is the concept of teamwork in Como as compared with other Italian districts?

It may come as a surprise, but when it comes to associations and planning the attendance at trade shows such as Première Vision, we hear more from Prato than from our companies. There’s more willingness to cooperate away from home than at home. Como’s companies are still reluctant to join forces, we are still a bit “small-town” when it comes to these things.

noi. Questo è inaccettabile, non si può andare avanti così, altrimenti dovremmo andare via da Como e da Villa Erba. Il mio tentativo sarà quello di omogeneizzare il tutto portando gli indipendenti nelle date di Proposte e chiedendo loro di essere gestiti da noi per creare un Fuori Salone sullo stile del Salone del Mobile di Milano, per fare un esempio. Una festa di creatività e musica, tutti insieme e negli stessi giorni.

Comocrea ha mandato chiari messaggi a Proposte sul "fare squadra" in vista delle prossime edizioni delle rispettive fiere. Avete già una risposta?

Comocrea rappresenta una dozzina di studi di disegno che espongono fuori dal salone, non sono loro il nostro problema. Noi, per statuto, non possiamo accogliere in fiera aziende che non rappresentino l’eccellenza del settore, ma su tutto quello che ruota intorno a Cernobbio e alla nostra fiera si può ragionare.

Lei guida una fiera di tessuti per arredamento ma presiede anche un'azienda di tessuto per abbigliamento ed ha quindi uno sguardo a 360 gradi sui mercati. Quali mercati sono più appetibili in un momento molto delicato dal punto di vista geopolitico? Ed è possibile tornare a fare affari in fiera?

La filiera è compatta e resiste ma sono due anni che non vediamo più clienti russi, cinesi o giapponesi. Dopo la pandemia la riapertura delle fiere è stato un momento importante per rivedere persone che non incontravamo da due anni ma certo il mondo è cambiato in modo incredibile e oggi la fiera ha meno valenza di prima perché i rapporti con i clienti del lusso sono personali, basati sulle pubbliche relazioni.

Quanto è sviluppato a Como il concetto di fare squadra, anche rispetto agli altri distretti italiani?

Sarà sorprendente ma a livello di associazioni, per organizzare le presenze alle fiere tipo Première Vision, ci sentiamo più con Prato che con le nostre aziende.

Troviamo più disponibilità fuori casa che in casa nostra. L’unione tra aziende comasche è ancora limitata, in questo siamo un po’ provinciali.

It’s not that Canepa has ever plunged into darkness, but the difficulties of this historic company based in San Fermo della Battaglia were common knowledge, with the procedure of settlement with creditors and the court beginning in 2018 and ending at the dawn of 2022, and the company returning to its usual business activity. Now that the waters have calmed down, we can’t think of anyone better than Virginia Filippi, who was appointed MD of the company following the financing of 18 million euros from Azimut Eltif Capital Solutions Fund, Invitalia and Michele Canepa, to tells us about how they made it through those troubled waters.

Nearly sixty years old, a master’s degree at Cambridge, the founder of Value Creation team, she also served on the board of several groups in various fields, from banking to communication and even football as General Manager of FIGC, the Italian Football Federation, in the rough years of the “Calciopoli” scandal, and RAI television, where she oversaw the company’s restructuring and privatization project. Now the experience at Canepa, which marks her debut in the textile industry. Probably not the most difficult one throughout her career.

Canepa’s return to business coincided with an eventful time for the whole industry because of the pandemic. Was it mere chance or did the forced break on markets and companies facilitate the company’s refounding?

The fact that the settlement procedure, which led to a standstill for the company, coincided with the whole world coming to a halt did not help us, but it certainly damaged us less than what would have happened had we been in full activity. Following the company’s refinancing and restructuring, we restarted operations at a time when the world was getting back on track, but in different ways as compared with the market dynamics we were used to. Now we have to learn to deal with new dynamics, just like all the other textile and fashion brands, but it’s a bit more complicated for us.

What were the first issues you had to deal with as soon as you were appointed MD? The company was backed by a tradition of trust and a heritage of credibility. We had to understand the image that customers still had of us after such a difficult time, if they were still willing to take us into consideration. And given that Covid had made personal contacts nearly impossible, they were all very cautious. We were able to go back to Japan only in April. The distance and digital interaction made it very difficult for us to convey the message.

Non che su Canepa fossero mai calate le tenebre ma le difficoltà della storica azienda di San Fermo della Battaglia erano di dominio pubblico, con il percorso di concordato con creditori e tribunale iniziato nel 2018 e terminato all’alba del 2022, con la chiusura del procedimento e la ripresa dell’attività in condizioni di assoluta normalità.

Ora che è tornato il sereno e le acque si sono calmate nessuno meglio di Virginia Filippi, nominata amministratore delegato dell’azienda all’indomani del finanziamento di 18 milioni di euro complessivi dal fondo Azimut Eltif Capitai Solutions Fund, Invitalia e Michele Canepa, può raccontare la navigazione in quel mare agitato.

Quasi 60 anni, Master a Cambridge, fondatrice di Value Creation team, esperienze in CdA di gruppi di molteplici settori, dalle banche alle comunicazioni, passando anche dal calcio come Direttore Generale della Figc nel tormentato periodo di Calciopoli, e dalla Rai, dove ha seguito il progetto di riorganizzazione e privatizzazione della rete televisiva. Adesso l’esperienza in Canepa, come esordio nel tessile. Probabilmente non il più difficile della sua carriera.

La ripartenza di Canepa è arrivata in un momento di grandi difficoltà per tutto il settore causate dalla pandemia. Casualità o lo stop parziale di mercati e aziende ha favorito la rifondazione aziendale?

Il fatto che la procedura di concordato, che porta ad una fase di stasi dell’azienda, sia coincisa col momento in cui tutto il mondo era fermo in qualche maniera se non ci ha aiutato di certo di ha danneggiati meno di quanto sarebbe successo se tutti fossero stati in attività. Di contro, dopo la ricapitalizzazione e il nuovo assetto societario, siamo ripartiti in un momento in cui il mondo ripartiva, in forme diverse rispetto alle dinamiche di mercato che conoscevamo. Quindi ci confrontiamo con dinamiche sconosciute, sia noi che gli altri brand del tessile e della moda, ma per noi è un po’ più complicato.

Quali sono stati i primi aspetti di cui si è dovuta occupare una volta nominata AD? Certe aziende hanno un patrimonio di tradizione e credibilità e quindi la prima cosa è stata capire come ci vedessero i clienti dopo il periodo di difficoltà. Capire se, come diceva Gassman, “aveva un grande avvenire dietro le spalle” o se c’era ancora una propensione a prenderci ancora in considerazione. E con i contatti personali resi impossibili dal Covid c’è stata molta cautela; siamo riusciti a tornare in Giappone, che è uno dei nostri primi mercati, solo ad aprile. Prima il digitale e la distanza hanno reso difficile veicolare il messaggio.

a company, which I have often successfully achieved, whether out of luck or skill. I believe that what really counts are the human resources within the company, because it takes about twenty years to get to know the field you are working in. I picture myself as a heart surgeon who has to perform a life-saving operation and finds a brilliant team that ensures the surgery’s success and that team is the company.

And now you're going back to attending fairs in person.

Customers recognized us and we were far-seeing in not divesting some production lines, such as ties, which not only we have kept on producing but which we have enhanced with all the creativity we can muster. Even in the beachwear sector, we received very positive feedback. In the clothing textile field, our competitors, during Canepa’s difficulties, grabbed a large chunk of the market and now we have to make up for lost ground. But nobody said “we don’t want to do business with you anymore”; on the contrary, everyone recognized the importance of investments.

What is Canepa’s immediate future in terms of strategies and market presence?

The slogan that the management agreed on is “Innovation in Tradition”, so on one side, we will keep on pursuing our traditional sectors, on the other, sustainability and new fibers. You will be seeing it partially in July, but in December we will be operating at full capacity.

While you and your staff are dealing with figures, who takes care of wefts, warps, colors and raw materials?

During the rough patch, there was no general stampede, which is what usually happens. Many resigned from jobs, but many experienced employees remained even out of affection for the company. Ee have a great archive heritage and a very active group of designers, but we are hunting for a prominent name as creative director, in order to fill in the entrepreneurial vacuum left by the Canepa sisters, who had imbued the production with their creative DNA.

di successo, per fortuna o bravura. Credo che la competenza la diano le risorse insite nell’azienda, perché prima di conoscere un settore bisogna passarci venti anni. Mi piace immaginarmi come un cardiochirurgo che arriva per fare un intervento salvavita ma trova già un’equipe che assicura il successo e questa equipe è l’azienda.

Una valutazione resa possibile anche dal ritorno in fiera.

I clienti ci hanno riconosciuto e siamo stati lungimiranti nel non dismettere alcune linee di produzione, come la cravatteria, che non solo abbiamo mantenuto ma esaltata con tutta la creatività possibile. Ed anche nel settore Mare abbiamo avuto riscontri più che positivi. Nel tessile per abbigliamento invece i competitor, durante il momento di difficoltà di Canepa, hanno conquistato quote di mercato e quindi dobbiamo riconquistare terreno. Ma nessuno ci ha detto “con voi non voglio più lavorare”, anzi, hanno riconosciuto l’importanza degli investimenti di azionisti nuovi o vecchi, come Michele Canepa.

Qual è il futuro immediato di Canepa a livello di strategie e presenza sui mercati?

Lo slogan che abbiamo approvato con tutta la direzione è “Innovare nella tradizione” quindi seguiremo i nostri settori storici da un lato, la sostenibilità e fibre nuove dall’altro. Lo vedrete parzialmente a luglio, ma già a dicembre saremo a pieno regime.

Mentre lei ed il suo staff vi occupate di numeri chi è che ha la responsabilità di trame, orditi, colori e materie prime?

Durante il periodo di difficoltà non c’è stato il fuggi fuggi tipico di queste situazioni. Molti se ne sono andati, ma tante persone, assai qualificate, sono rimaste, anche per affetto verso l’azienda. Ora abbiamo un grande patrimonio di archivio e un gruppo stilistico importante ed attivo ma stiamo selezionando un nome di spicco per la direzione creativa. Questo per far fronte anche ad un vuoto imprenditoriale lasciato dall’uscita delle sorelle Canepa, che avevano dato il DNA creativo alla produzione.

Five ideas for the “New World” CINQUE IDEE PER IL “MONDO NUOVO”

Alessandro Baricco, in his very enjoyable “Palladium Lectures”, claims that following the evolution of human taste and culture is like observing the movements of an animal that moves in a sinuous manner. The way the “human family” changes its tastes and dreams varies. The Enlightenment was a beautiful and slow process, the French Revolution was much faster, the Fall of the Berlin Wall took one day.

We recently realized it and there’s no denying it: the past two years have drastically changed the world around us and, consequently, the concepts on which a fabric collection is based have changed too. We need to rethink the way we work, not only according to the habits that are beginning to form around us, but also according to the new factors that we will learn about as this “new world” gradually takes shape. In the meantime, we can highlight some trends which are already in place and which we need to take into consideration when thinking about a collection in a global sense.

“The cluetrain manifesto” becomes topical again The Cluetrain Manifesto was published in 1999: a set of 95 theses examining the impact of the Internet on marketing and forecasting what the Web would look like in a very near future, that is, a huge agora of information, social media and markets optimized and rationalized according to algorithms. Technology has been given a great boost by the pandemic, which has led to an increasing implementation of 4.0 technology as a whole. The consequence is that the companies that do not keep up with the pace of change become obsolete faster and faster and, thus, unimportant and uncompetitive. As far as the designer’s role is concerned, collections will have to be very fluid from now on, by combining Italian tradition and new technological innovations, which I see as the use of experimental materials such as graphene, new inkjet printing techniques and the hybrid use of various weaving techniques on jacquard looms.

Scarcity The post-pandemic demand is higher than what suppliers can keep up with, because raw materials are difficult to find on all markets. Furthermore, supply shortages for energy-intensive companies cause cyclical crises that unbalance the relationship between supply and demand, thus leading to higher prices and inflation. This situation, although it affects the market in its totality, has a more profound impact on the high volume-low price end of the market. Scarcity which will not be a transitory phenomenon, will force us to change strategies, by creating very practical capsule collections and focusing on a few elements that we are sure we can source.

Transparency and traceability The scarcity of raw materials and semi-finished products forces us to look beyond usual suppliers. The companies’ growing commitment to take on ethical responsibility compels collection designers to place the provenance of supplies as a core value and certify the transparency of the whole logistics chain. This, with the ecological transition, is the goal to be achieved and to be evaluated in the companies’ budgeting for sustainability.

The human capital As far as work practices are concerned, the pandemic has left us with two rather obvious phenomena: having got used to smart working and

Ce ne siamo accorti ed è inutile negarlo: gli ultimi due anni e mezzo hanno cambiato drasticamente il mondo che ci circonda, di conseguenza sono variati panorami aziendali e concetti con cui iniziare una collezione di tessuti. Le nostre procedure di lavoro devono essere ripensate non solo in base alle consuetudini che si stanno costituendo intorno a noi, ma anche in base a nuovi fattori che scopriremo a mano a mano che questo “nuovo mondo” maturerà. Nel frattempo, iniziamo ad evidenziare alcune tendenze che sono già abbastanza palesi e che per forza devono essere tenute in considerazione a chi pensa in modo globale ad una collezione.

La riattualizzazione di “The cluetrain manifesto” Era il 1999 quando venne pubblicato “The cluetrain manifesto”, un’analisi organizzata in 95 tesi indirizzata a predire ciò che sarebbe di lì a poco diventato il web dinamico, una enorme agorà di informazioni, di social e di mercato ottimizzato e razionalizzato secondo algoritmi. La tecnologia ha ricevuto una spinta vigorosa scaturita dalle necessità pandemiche e concretizzata nella sempre maggiore implementazione delle tecnologie 4.0 nel loro insieme. Conseguenza di ciò è l’accelerazione con cui le aziende che non mantengono il passo rischiano fenomeni di obsoletizzazione, diventando irrilevanti e non competitive. Per il disegnatore le collezioni dovranno essere molto fluide, coniugando la tradizione italiana con nuovi spunti tecnologici che io vedo proiettati nell’uso di materiali sperimentali quali il grafene, le nuove tecniche di stampa inkjet e l’uso ibrido di varie tecniche di intreccio sui telai jacquard.

La scarsità La domanda post pandemica è sostenuta, ma le forniture non riescono a garantire il soddisfacimento degli ordini perché le materie prime sono di difficile reperimento su tutti i mercati. Oltre a ciò, le difficoltà di approvvigionamento per le aziende energivore creano fenomeni congiunturali che aggravano il rapporto fra domanda e offerta instaurando un processo inflazionistico. Questa situazione, pur affliggendo la totalità del mercato, è maggiormente sensibile per le posizioni alto volume/basso prezzo. La scarsità, che probabilmente non sarà un fenomeno solo transitorio, costringerà a cambiare le strategie, a creare collezioni “capsule” molto maneggevoli e focalizzate su pochi elementi di sicuro approvvigionamento.

Trasparenza e tracciabilità La scarsità delle materie prime e dei semilavorati obbliga a guardare oltre il pool dei fornitori abituali. La crescente necessità di assumersi una responsabilità etica e sociale delle aziende obbligherà i progettisti ad acquisire nuove garanzie sulla provenienza degli acquisti e a certificarne in modo trasparente tutta la catena logistica tramite un sistema di piena tracciabilità. Questa necessità, che si abbina alla transizione ecologica in atto, sarà il grande obiettivo da raggiungere nei prossimi anni e da mettere in risalto nella redazione nei bilanci di sostenibilità aziendale.

Il capitale umano Per ciò che riguarda le procedure di lavoro, la pandemia ci ha lasciato in eredità due fenomeni piuttosto evidenti: l’abitudine allo smart working ma anche il ben

the more alarming phenomenon called “Great resignation”, which started in the United States and is now catching on in Europe as well, in addition to many experienced workers taking advantage of the recent early-retirement opportunities. As a consequence, many companies have had to face a shortage of job-specific skills. From the coaching point of view, the designing and creation of a collection may contribute to keeping the corporate atmosphere a positive one, by allowing each employee to participate through their passions and transforming the project into a network of personal achievements that contribute to the overall organization.

The “SUMMER 24” to begin with The coming summer’s trends are all about “ islands”, seen as workshops of ideas, explorations and mixtures expressed through an ongoing dialogue based on a few key words such as: experimenting, broadening, diversifying. The designer is a second Prospero, the magician in Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”, intent on restoring the balance amidst the chaos of the elements. The prerequisite to creating a collection is a deep understanding of the customers you plan to market to. The idea of a collection that satisfies all needs is not feasible; it's the starting point for discussing the development of exclusive products with a group of potential customers.

“Singleness in transversality” should be the motto, because the time of seasonal fashion seems definitely over. Milano Unica show is based on an innovative concept, “Seasonless”, with collections designed to offer solutions for customers from different continents, such as ultra-light woolens and very heavy cottons. Hence the company and designer need to find a specific niche by drawing on the personal experiential past of each and encapsulating it in very and clearly focused “capsule” collections. The rule is to convey an idea with a clear direction, through high product customization and a “horizontal” relationship between supplier and customer. I believe that being aware of these new contextual parameters a is crucial to going on developing collections designed to grow and be exported.

Questi due fenomeni si innestano in un periodo in cui molti fra i lavoratori più esperti hanno approfittato delle recenti opportunità di prepensionamento. Molte aziende hanno avuto come risultato evidente un netto deficit di competenze. In una visione di Coaching, l’allestimento e la progettazione di una collezione possono contribuire a migliorare il clima aziendale permettendo ad ognuno dei collaboratori di partecipare attraverso le proprie passioni, trasformando il progetto in una rete di realizzazioni personali viste in un’ottica di organizzazione complessiva.

Per iniziare la “SUMMER 24” Si parla di “isole” nel fermento delle tendenze della prossima estate, viste come un laboratorio di idee, esplorazioni e commistioni espresse in un dialogo continuo formato da parole chiave quali: “sperimentare, amplificare, diversificare”. Prerequisito per iniziare la nuova collezione è possedere profonda comprensione dei clienti che si vorranno approcciare. L’idea di avere una collezione omnibus che possa andare bene un po’ per tutti è finita; può risultare sufficiente per iniziare a ragionare sullo sviluppo di esclusivi, con un gruppo selezionato di potenziali clienti.

“Singolarità nella trasversalità” dovrebbe essere un must da tenere sempre bene a mente, perché il tempo di una moda massificata e stagionale sembra davvero essere concluso. Milano Unica parte da un innovativo concetto “Seasonless” in cui la proposta dovrebbe essere in grado di offrire soluzioni mirate su clienti di continenti diversi, in cui le lane possono essere leggerissime e i cotoni pesantissimi. L’azienda e quindi il disegnatore devono trovare la loro specifica nicchia scavando nel passato esperienziale di ognuno e sintetizzarlo in collezioni “capsule” molto focalizzate.

Imperativo è trasmettere un’idea con un indirizzo preciso, attraverso un’elevata customizzazione del prodotto in un rapporto divenuto “orizzontale” fra fornitore e cliente. Avere consapevolezza di questi nuovi parametri contestuali mi pare imprescindibile per continuare a preparare collezioni finalizzate a crescere e ad esportare.

Trade shows, this time it’s for real FIERE, STAVOLTA CI SIAMO by redazione La Spola Risk-free, at least of cancellation, because with Covid there are no certainties. But we can say, with a decent degree of confidence, that for the European trade show system the pandemic is off the table for now. It is, however, necessary to specify the continent, because in Asia trade shows have not returned at scale yet, while waiting for the local authorities, first of all the Chinese government, to lift the restrictions.

Last May, Berlin celebrated the return to normality with Denim Première Vision, which attracted 1,600 visitors to the German capital and showed that rigid protocols and face masks are a sad but distant memory by now.

Germany is the star again with Frankfurt hosting, at the time of the magazine’s release, the unusual Heimtextil, Techtextil and Texprocess threesome, the three shows gathering together in early summer after all the postponements due to the pandemic. Messe Frankfurt took this decision in agreement with the exhibitors who couldn’t wait to go back to doing business in person or, at least, to meeting suppliers, customers and colleagues face to face again.

Also London, which had its good share of postponements and restrictions, is back on track by dusting off a project started two years ago by John Kelley: Texpremium, which in late June brought together at the One Marleybone the companies targeting the high-end market, both in the UK and in the rest of Northern Europe.

Instead, this La Spola – Showcase issue makes its first appearance at Pitti Filati, which goes back to the original location, Florence’s Fortezza da Basso, a sign that Pitti Immagine reversed its decision to keep the Pitti Uomo and Pitti Bimbo fairs simultaneously. Pitti Filati straddles June and July and will, once again, be the barometer of the textile industry’s good health, with Paris and Milan soon confirming or denying it. During the past few shows held at the Stazione Leopolda, Pitti Filati has proven to be very lively. In addition to the main trade show, a lot of side events, starting with Feel the Contest, whose prize-giving ceremony will be held during the Pitti Filati show.

A one-week leap and we’re in Paris (July 5-7), where we’ll see the latest change to the trade show schedule, that is, the

Zero rischi, quanto meno di annullamento, perché sul Covid di certezze ancora non ce ne sono. Ma possiamo dire che la pandemia, per il sistema fieristico europeo, è accantonata. La specificazione sul continente è però necessaria, perché in Asia le fiere ancora non hanno ripreso il loro corso naturale, in attesa di un allentamento delle restrizioni da parte dei vari governi, cinese in primis.

Nello scorso maggio è stata Berlino a celebrare una sorta di ripartenza, con Denim Première Vision, che ha richiamato nella capitale tedesca 1.600 visitatori e dimostrando che protocolli rigidi e mascherine sono un ricordo, tanto vicino quanto triste.

Ancora Germania protagonista, visto che mentre andiamo in stampa Francoforte torna a essere la capitale dei saloni con l’insolito trittico Heimtextil, Techtextil e Texprocess, tutte radunate insieme ad inizio estate dopo i tanti rinvii causati appunto dalla pandemia. Messe Frankfurt ha preso questa decisione di comune accordo con gli espositori, che non vedevano l’ora di tornare a fare affari di persona o, quantomeno, a rivedere in presenza fornitori, clienti e colleghi.

Anche Londra, che non si è fatta mancare rinvii e restrizioni, è tornata in pista rispolverando un progetto di John Kelley risalente ad un paio di anni fa: Texpremium, che a fine giugno ha portato allo One Marleybone gli espositori che hanno nella fascia alta il mercato di riferimento, sia nel Regno Unito che nel resto del Nord Europa.

La Spola – Showcase debutta invece a Pitti Filati, che torna nella sua casa abituale, la Fortezza da Basso di Firenze, segno che anche Pitti Immagine ha deciso di tornare all’antico, scindendo i tre saloni e archiviando l’abbinamento Uomo-Bimbo.

Il salone unisce giugno e luglio e si prepara a vestire di nuovo i panni del ‘termometro’ della filiera, anche se la controprova arriverà a breve giro da Parigi e Milano. A Firenze infatti la filiera a monte misurerà lo stato di salute del tessile con un salone che, nelle ultime edizioni alla Stazione Leopolda, ha dimostrato di essere molto vivace. Oltre al salone in sé sono previste tante iniziative collaterali, ad iniziare da Feel the Contest, che vedrà la sua cerimonia di premiazione proprio nei giorni di Pitti Filati.

The London Textile Fair

debut of Première Vision in July, with the French show following in the wake of Milano Unica, the first to decide to hold the fair ahead of the usual schedule. PV took this decision two years ago, following an accurate study conducted by the French Institute of Fashion: because of collection and production timing, July is the best month, given that September is too late in the season for the creation of fashion products. So expectations for this Première Vision Paris show are high, in particular, for those interested in understanding whether the closeness of dates leads to a sort of rivalry between the two fairs.

Milano Unica (July 12-14) is a welloiled machine and continues the growing trend of the past few seasons, in particular, the summer season. Figures are high and, while waiting for the return of the Asian component (first of all, Japan and Korea), the Milanese show remains a key moment for Italian companies. As if to compensate for this see-sawing of dates, Milano Unica picked “Seasonless” as the trends theme, to prove that the difference between fall/winter and spring/summer collections is reduced to a minimum.

An idea since always supported by Gianni Bologna, the curator of themes for Filo which, in September (14th and 15th) will close the summer trade show season ( and distribution of La Spola-Showcase), held again at MiCo that continues to be the most suitable location for this kind of show. Focus on knitwear and fibers again and meetings with the experts.

in programma un’altra grande novità di questa stagione fieristica, ovvero il debutto di Première Vision a luglio, col salone francese che si inserisce nella scia di Milano Unica, ‘pioniera’ della scelta di anticipare la fiera. PV aveva già deciso due anni fa, in seguito ad un attento esame condotto con l’Istituto Francese della Moda: per tempistiche di collezione e di produzione luglio si era rivelato il mese migliore, visto che per molti a settembre era già passato il momento della creazione dei prodotti di moda.

L’attesa per questa edizione di Première Vision Paris è quindi tanta, anche per capire se la rinnovata vicinanza di date tra Parigi e Milano potrà dare vita ad una sorta di rivalità.

Milano Unica (12-14 luglio) ha una formula ormai rodata e punta a confermare la crescita delle ultime edizioni, soprattutto quella estiva. I numeri restano alti e, in attesa del ritorno della componente asiatica in presenza (Giappone e Corea in primis), il salone milanese rimane un punto di riferimento per le aziende italiane. Quasi come contrappasso per questo valzer di date Milano Unica ha scelto Seasonless come tema delle tendenze, a dimostrare che ormai tra autunno/inverno e primavera/ estate la differenza è minima.

Una tesi sempre sostenuta ad esempio da Gianni Bologna, curatore dei temi per Filo, che a settembre (14 e 15) chiuderà la rassegna delle fiere (e della distribuzione di La Spola – Showcase) di nuovo al MiCo, che si è dimostrato location assai adatta ad una fiera del genere. Confermate le aperture alla maglieria, i focus sulle fibre e gli incontri con gli esperti.

Prima di Filo il ritorno dalle vacanze di agosto è firmato da Munich Fabric Start (31 agosto – 2 settembre), che anticipa di quasi una settimana The London Textile (5 e 6 settembre), di nuovo in scena a Islington, al Business Design Centre.

It’s time for pink renewal GRUPPO COLLE, È TEMPO DI RINNOVAMENTO. ANCHE “IN ROSA”

“If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman”, Margaret Thatcher said a few decades ago. She definitely did not suffer from gender gap when it came to personality. And when it comes to women “who do”, Gruppo Colle’s recent history proves that the company, when it was time for the generational change to take place, was able to successfully entrust women, even young women, with roles of responsibility.

“The company is still family-run” - Gaia Gualtieri and Alessia Matteini Bresci say. They are not the “daughter of Roberto” or “daughter of Riccardo” anymore, having carved their own professional identity within the company for some time now.

“And we would like to keep it that way, although we do not exclude the possibility of integrating someone from the outside, such as a consultant, who can contribute a different vision”.

So, the change is not only generational, but also “chromosome”, although it has nothing to do with female quotas or gender equality, which are outdated concepts from a modern company’s point of view. Gruppo Colle already has women working in leading roles, such as department managers, members of the executive team, safety manager and in charge of the expansion of the headquarters facilities, with the project undertaken, developed by Sabrina Bignami and made by Daria Orlandi's Coedil.

On this basis, the future seems already mapped out: “The current board of directors- the two entrepreneurs explain- is made up of five members and is not determined based on the company’s shares. We will be bringing the number of members to seven, with an outside consultant, and the employees will be represented as well.” Gruppo Colle’s female leadership is well-described by an old black-and-white photo of two ladies symbolically carrying the weight of scales and of some raw materials: stories from the 1956 textile world.

"Se vuoi che qualcosa venga detto, chiedi a un uomo; se vuoi che qualcosa venga fatto, chiedi a una donna" ha sentenziato ormai qualche decennio fa Margaret Thatcher, che in fatto di personalità non aveva certo nessun gap legato al genere, anzi.

E di donne “che fanno” si sta caratterizzando la storia recente di Gruppo Colle che, in un momento di ricambio generazionale fatto per scelta e per necessità, ha affidato a donne e ragazze gran parte del management.

“L’azienda è ancora a carattere famigliare – dicono Gaia Gualtieri a Alessia Matteini Bresci, che l’etichetta di “figlia di Roberto” o “figlia di Riccardo” l’hanno abbandonata da tempo per ritagliarsi una propria identità professionale – e vorremmo che continuasse a restare tale, ma non escludiamo un supporto esterno, magari con la figura di un consulente, anche per avere una visione diversa”.

Il ricambio è quindi non solo generazionale ma anche di “cromosoma”, anche se niente ha a che fare con quote rosa o alla parità di genere, concetti superati in un’ottica di azienda moderna. Gruppo Colle ha già donne come direttrici di reparti, dirigenti di vari uffici, responsabili della sicurezza ed è al femminile anche lo sviluppo materiale, nel senso di espansione dell’immobile, dell’azienda, con i lavori di ampliamento già iniziati e progettati da Sabrina Bignami e realizzati dalla Coedil di Daria Orlandi.

Su queste basi il futuro appare già delineato: “L’attuale consiglio di amministrazione – spiegano ancora le due imprenditrici – è composto da cinque uomini e non è espressione delle quote societarie. Diventerà di sette consiglieri, con un consulente esterno, e saranno rappresentati anche i dipendenti”.

Tutto questo raccontato in uno studio dove la forza delle donne è raccontata da una foto in bianco e nero dove due signore reggono simbolicamente da sole il peso di una bilancia e di alcune materie prime: storie di tessile del 1956.

Fil-3 chases recovery FIL-3 RINCORRE LA RIPRESA The business is back on track, but delivery time is getting longer and longer and spinning mills are nowhere to be found. Among the many post-pandemic effects there is also a brake on economic recovery, which has revealed itself in all its harshness, with a rising need for raw materials and the backlog of orders.

“There is a great demand for our products, such as carded and combed yarns - Giacinto Gelli, the MD of Fil-3 says - but delivery time is four to five weeks, compared with the previous three weeks. And we are not really that much behind schedule compared to others, because we were able to secure supplies of raw materials ahead of time, but the problem is finding processing facilities, spinning and spooling mills”.

They had an excellent start to 2022, but there are still a few uncertainties that remain for the summer months: “We enjoyed a boom in March - Gelli says - even for the carded and combed yarns. Less material for the ready-to-wear is being shipped from China and I am optimistic about September and October”.

Another issue that they have to face, whether they like it or not, is the increase in the cost of energy and, consequently, in price lists: “With the increase in the cost of gas, electric energy and raw materials, we had no choice but to adjust prices ourselves- as the MD of the Montemurlo-based company that took part in a trade show in Istanbul and will be attending Filo with some new developments in the summer collection explains- but customers were understanding and nobody reacted negatively. As far as the raw materials are concerned, it is not a matter of wool or silk, but rather of polyester and nylon”.

Then come the certifications, a mixed blessing for Fil-3: “We firmly believe in the course we have set - Gelli concludes - but sometimes we have the feeling that we are going round in round in circles, never reaching the finishing line. Those who represent us within the associations need to start fighting to make things easier for us and streamline the bureaucracy”.

Il lavoro è tornato, le consegne si allungano, le filature non si trovano. Tra i tante effetti del post pandemia c’è anche un freno forse inatteso ad una ripresa che si è manifestata in tutta la sua essenza, tra la necessità di materie prime e gli ordini da evadere.

“I nostri prodotti, come ad esempio i filati fuso capo o i pettinati da stoppino, hanno molta richiesta - dice Giacinto Gelli, ad di Fil-3 - ma le consegne sono a quattro o cinque settimane, contro le tre che al massimo occorrevano in precedenza. E noi non siano neanche quelli con i tempi più lunghi, visto che per le materie prime ci siamo approvvigionati da tempo, ma il problema è trovare chi fa la lavorazione, tra filature e roccature”.

L’inizio del 2022 è stato ottimo, ma proprio in virtù di questo nuovo scenario, sui mesi estivi qualche incertezza rimane: “A marzo abbiamo avuto un boom – continua Gelli – anche con proposte sul cardato e il pettinato. Dalla Cina sta arrivando meno materiale per il pronto moda e sono fiducioso per settembre e ottobre”.

Altro tema da affrontare, nolenti o volenti, è quello dell’aumento dei costi dell’energia e di conseguenza dei listini: “Tra gas, energia elettrica e materie prime anche noi abbiano dovuto adeguare i prezzi - spiega ancora l’amministratore dell’azienda di Montemurlo che ha fatto una fiera a Istanbul e parteciperà a Filo con alcune novità per la collezione estiva – ma i clienti hanno capito e nessuno ha risposto negativamente. Sulle materie prime non è tanto un discorso di lana o seta, quanto di poliestere e nylon, che adesso costano molto più di prima”.

Poi le certificazioni, un po’ croce e molto delizia in casa Fil3: “Noi proseguiamo nel nostro cammino in modo convinto - conclude Gelli - ma a volte sembra di essere a fare il gioco dell’oca. Sembriamo arrivati al traguardo ci tocca ripartire quasi da capo. Bisogna che chi ci rappresenta a livello di associazione si batta per facilitare le cose e snellire la burocrazia”.

The company’s strengths lie in its teamwork and in ongoing research focused on growth of the business and further increase in the clientele base.

Every season, in fact, the company renews the sample collection, both the spring/summer and fall/winter collections, with the addition of a wide range of yarns mostly designed for weaving, which is the field in which the company traditionally specializes, while it also produces home furnishing and upholstery yarns and knitwear yarns. Filatura Alma is also committed to enlarging its stock service facility and purchasing increasingly advanced machinery, which allow the company to meet the market’s many and varied requests.

The sustainability issue, however, has always been one of the company’s main concerns by being actively committed into purchasing certified, organic and recycled raw materials and ensuring complete traceability of the supply chain. Which is the reason why the work done with ICEA, the Ethical and Environmental Certification Institute, for the granting of the GRS certification, renewed for another year, as well as the RWS and GOTS certifications, the result of attentive and accurate analysis of raw materials and processing, is of great importance for the Tuscan company.

In tutti i campi resta comunque centrale il tema della sostenibilità, con l’impegno finalizzato alla ricerca di materie prime certificate organiche e riciclate, puntando sulla tracciabilità di tutta la filiera.

Per questo motivo è stato ed è essenziale per l’azienda toscana il lavoro fatto con Icea, l’Istituto per la Certificazione Etica ed Ambientale per ottenere, oltre alla certificazione GRS, rinnovata anche per il terzo anno; confermate peril secondo anno anche le certificazioni RWS e GOTS, frutto di un’analisi attenta ed accurata sulle materie prime e sulla lavorazione.

Tradition and innovation RIFINIZIONE VIGNALI: TRADIZIONE E INNOVAZIONE

For many years, Rifinizione Vignali has been a name associated with quality and innovation in the field of textile finishing, because of the wide range of state-of-the-art treatments it offers. Quality service has been the company’s strength for 72 years, along with the Vignali family’s uninterrupted ownership of the company. Rifinizione Vignali, in fact, began operating back in 1947, when Silvio Vignali took his first steps as entrepreneur by teaselling blankets. The years 1954-55, with Silvio’s son Ivo joining the company, marked a great turning point in the business. Rifinizione Vignali changed and expanded its production range and processing methods with a view to further industrial development. Ivo is the current president of the board of directors and the third-generation members of the family, Barbara and Silvia, have joined the company too.

Over the years, in addition to new finishing treatments of fine and innovative fabrics, in par-ticular, upholstery fabrics which had not been produced in the Prato area until then, the company became highly specialized in the finishing of acrylic carpets and faux fur coats. In more recent times, Rifinizione Vignali also specialized in the finishing of velvets and fur-nishing fabrics.

In the sixties, the company believed it was time to upgrade the entire machinery fleet and, in 1973, a new dyeing mill, Ma-Vi, was started, adding to the one operating within Rifinizione Vignali.

Then the company further expanded its activity, soon becoming well-known not only in the Prato area, but also across the country and abroad. Today, the company can count on a base of regular customers who continue to trust Vignali’s experience and rely on its inno-vative solutions. At present, Rifinizione Vignali, together with Tintoria MA-VI, employs about 100 people and is increasingly committed to research on new technologies and improve-ment of processing and service quality, with an eye to sustainability of production processes.

La Rifinizione Vignali è un nome che da anni rappresenta una garanzia nell’universo del finissaggio, garanzia di qualità, ma anche di modernità, dato che le lavorazioni che l’azienda pratese oggi offre sono ormai numerose e all’avanguardia. Proprio la qualità del servizio è il fil rouge dei 73 anni di attività. Un altro punto fermo è la proprietà, sempre della famiglia Vignali. L'attività della Rifinizione Vignali infatti è iniziata nel 1947 quando Silvio Vignali inizia la sua attività di imprenditore artigiano occupandosi della garzatura di coperte. Negli anni ’54/’55, lo affianca il figlio Ivo che porta un vero e proprio giro di boa nell’attività imprenditoriale. Innanzitutto un ampliamento della tipologia di tessuti lavorati, in seconda battuta l’allargamento del giro di affari in un’ottica sempre più industriale. Ivo Vignali è oggi presidente del Consiglio di amministrazione, ma è affiancato dalla terza generazione, le figlie Barbara e Silvia.

Le novità nelle tipologie di lavorazioni fatte e di tessuti trattati sono soprattutto il finissaggio di tessuti pregiati e innovativi, tessuti anche rivolti al settore dell’arredamento e in questo caso si tratta di una novità per il settore pratese. Ulteriore passaggio sono le lavorazioni di finissaggio di tappeti di acrilico e pellicce ecologiche. Più recentemente la Rifinizione Vignali si è specializzata nei velluti e tessuti da arredamento.

L’ampliamento delle lavorazioni offerte dalla Rifinizione porta ben presto, già negli anni ’60, la necessità di un imponente rinnovamento del parco macchine, nel 1973 viene addirittura fondata una nuova tintoria, la MaVi, che affianca quella interna della Rifinizione Vignali. Attualmente la Rifinizione Vignali e la Tintoria MA-VI contano complessivamente circa 100 dipendenti. Forte è l’impegno nella ricerca di nuove tecnologie e nuovi trattamenti, nel miglioramento della qualità dei processi e dei servizi e nella sostenibilità delle lavorazioni, la Rifinizione Vignali infatti ormai da molti anni utilizza, in produzione, esclusivamente acqua proveniente dal depuratore appositamente trattata e resa idonea.

Winning combination A ZETA FILATI E MISTER JOE, BINOMIO VINCENTE The significant demand for fancy yarns has continued the growth of the companies headed by Alessandro Aiazzi, A ZETA FILATI and MISTER JOE. Beyond all expectations, 2022 is proving to be an important year for this pair, which is maintaining a clearly positive trend despite market difficulties related to quality, material procurement and logistics.

The acquisition of new machinery together with the employment of qualified personnel has been the strategy that has enabled the two companies to cope with this period of intense work.

The coming months will see the two brands busy promoting their new collections; MISTER JOE will be present at PITTI FILATI in Florence from 29 June to 1 July, while A ZETA will be in Milan for the 58th edition of FILO on 14 and 15 September in the MICO Milano Convention Center.

These showcases will set the stage for the new yarns that the Aiazzi team has developed and continues to develop, all continuing along the path of traceability and sustainability that the market demands.

L’importante richiesta di filati fantasia ha fatto proseguire la crescita delle aziende che fanno capo a Alessandro Aiazzi, A ZETA FILATI e MISTER JOE. Oltre ogni aspettativa, il 2022 si sta dimostrando un’annata importate per questo binomio che, nonostante le difficoltà di mercato legate alla qualità, all’approvvigionamento di materiali ed alla logistica, sta mantenendo una tendenza nettamente positiva sui mercati.

L’acquisizione di nuovi macchinari unitamente all’impiego di personale qualificato è stata la strategia che ha permesso alle due aziende di fronteggiare questo periodo di intenso lavoro.

I prossimi mesi vedranno i due brand impegnati nella promozione delle nuove collezioni; MISTER JOE sarà presente a PITTI FILATI a Firenze dal 29 Giugno al 1 luglio, mentre A ZETA sarà a Milano per la 58° edizione di FILO il 14 e 15 settembre al MICO Milano Convention Center.

Queste vetrine faranno da palcoscenico ai nuovi filati che il team di Alessandro Aiazzi ha sviluppato e continua a sviluppare, il tutto proseguendo nel cammino di tracciabilità e sostenibilità che il mercato richiede.

Knitwear in all variations SHIMA SEIKI: MAGLIA IN TUTTE LE DECLINAZIONI Just back from Techtextil in Frankfurt, Shima Seiki continues along the path of textile trade shows and stops in Florence, for Pitti Filati, with knitwear being the link between Germany and Italy.

Shima Seiki introduced for the first time at Techtextil Soft Walls, a project designed to go beyond traditional knitwear: owing to the WholeGarment technology, which is 3D and seam-free, it is possible to produce objects with complex three-dimensional shapes and all-over patterns. Shima Seiki’s space featured an installation: customized and customizable, it targets the furniture and interior design world with knitwear as the key element. Soft Walls is a modular system with partition walls with an aluminum structure. Three distinct and functional islands were created inside the stand: Lounge designed for hotels, restaurants and the hospitality business; Office for workplaces; Retail for showcasing products in shop windows and showrooms. Everything is made by using the Mach2XS153 machine.

Instead, at Pitti Filati, the company shows the knitwear performances offered by Shima Seiki machinery by experimenting with the Vittorio Branchizio Shima Seiki Italia’s capsule collection. At Fortezza da Basso, Shima Seiki introduces two new knitting machines, Nsir123 IPC 18G and NFirst124 18G, and the new design and PGM software APEXFiz™. “This machinery - Davide Barbieri, the Sales Manager of Shima Seiki Italia says - creates truly unique products”.

The capsule collection by Vittorio Branchizio, the company’s Art Director, expresses the machinery’s potential to the utmost and highlights all today’s kintwear applications.

“Overlapping Illusions” is the name of the company’s new development and research project: “The capsule collection- Branchizio explains - focuses not only on the machinery’s technical potential, but also on graphics processing and pattern digitizing, with outerwear, trousers, bespoke suits and windproof jackets evolving into knitwear and allowing me to design knitwear from a new point of view”.

Crucial to the creation of effects inspired by the abstract art movement Op-Art is the Apex graphics, a software by Shima Seiki. The creation of this collection led to a collaboration between Shima Seiki Italia and Beste Hub, for a part of the assembling of the garments.

Reduce da Techtextil, a Francoforte sul Meno, Shima Seiki prosegue il cammino lungo la strada delle fiere di settore e fa tappa a Firenze, per Pitti Filati, con la maglieria a fare da trait d’union tra Germania e Italia.

Shima Seiki ha mostrato per la prima volta a Techtextil Soft Walls, un progetto che si propone di andare oltre la maglieria tradizionale: grazie alla tecnologia WholeGarment®, 3D senza cuciture, si possono realizzare oggetti con forme tridimensionali complesse e pattern all’over.

A Francoforte è stata un’installazione a caratterizzare lo spazio di Shima Seiki: personalizzata, e personalizzabile, si rivolge al mondo del furniture e dell’interior design ed ha la maglia come elemento principale. Soft Walls è un sistema modulare di pareti divisorie con struttura in alluminio. Sono state create tre isole funzionali e distinte all’interno dello stand: Lounge pensato per hotel, hall, ristoranti e accoglienza; Office, considerato per il mondo del lavoro; Retail, per l’esposizione dei prodotti in vetrine, negozi, showroom. Il tutto realizzato con la macchina MACH2XS153.

A Pitti Filati invece sono in vetrina le prestazioni in maglia offerte dalle macchine Shima Seiki sperimentate con la capsule di Vittorio Branchizio Shima Seiki Italia. Allo stand della Fortezza da Basso presenti due nuove macchine da maglieria, NSIR123 IPC 18G e NFIRST124 18G, e il nuovo software di design e pgm, APEXFiz™.

Itema, the leading provider of advanced weaving solutions including weaving machines, spare parts and integrated services, announces the establishment of a new company in Turkey. The Turkish subsidiary, that operates under the name İtema Tekstil Makineleri Servis Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi, began its operations in Istanbul - company headquarters - and Bursa - company branch office - as early as April 13.

The operation, aimed at enhancing the local presence and increase efficiency when serving the company’s significantly growing Turkish customer base that represents a sizeable part of Itema’s global turnover, is in line with the Company’s strategy to build up a stronger presence in major weaving markets.

Following the market OFFICINE GORGERI E IL MERCATO CHE CAMBIA

A family-owned and operated company which used the deeply-rooted bond with its homeland as a springboard to the global market.

Officine Gorgeri was established in 1953 by Aldo Gorgeri and has been operating in the textile machinery field since then. Remaining true to his Pratese genes, the first machinery that the company founder produced was designed for carded fabrics, then the company specialized in the production of machinery and systems for fiber preparation and blending.

In 1994, Aldo Gorgeri, with his children working by side, transformed the company into Officine Gorgeri Srl and took an increasing stance toward internationalization. Reliable technology and, above all, being able to find the solutions for the most complex problems are the key features of this company which retains its customers, both national and international, in particular German, French and Belgian customers.

The owner Riccardo Gorgeri explains in a simple way how the machinery produced by Officine Gorgeri works: “We produce machines and systems which open the bales of fiber, clean them, add the chemicals required for the following processing stages and perform the blending of these components. And everything can be customized to the customer’s specific needs”. There are various balebreaker models, available in different working-widths, which enable the opening of any fiber, both synthetic and natural. Gorgeri produces also a carding willow for bi-component fibers and different oiling systems according to the quantity of lubricating grease required by the fiber material to be processed. Among the fiber preparation and blending systems are those designed for opening, cleaning, blending, wetting and storage of small and big batches and those for the production of felt, natural fibers and non-wovens. The processing of non-wovens is a field in which Gorgeri specializes, as 80% of Officine Gorgeri’s customers work in the geotextile sector. “We produce machinery designed to process the most varied materials: from wood to coconut fiber- Gorgeri concludes- the fast-changing market force us to commit to ongoing research, which accounts for 15-20% of our activity and is performed by specific in-house staff ”.

Un’impresa familiare che ha fatto del suo legame col territorio un ottimo trampolino di lancio verso il mercato mondiale. Si tratta delle Officine Gorgeri, fondate nel 1953 da Aldo Gorgeri e da allora attive nel settore meccanotessile. Per non smentire il Dna pratese, le prime macchine prodotte sono state quelle destinate alla lavorazione del cardato, successivamente l’azienda si è specializzata nella costruzione di macchine e impianti per la preparazione e mescolatura delle fibre.

Nel 1994 Aldo Gorgeri, ormai affiancato dai figli, ha trasformato la ditta in Officine Gorgeri Srl e sempre più forte è diventata la vocazione all’internazionalizzazione. Tecnologie affidabili, ma soprattutto la capacità di trovare soluzioni alle problematiche più complesse sono le caratteristiche di questa impresa che ha fidelizzato i suoi clienti, nazionali e internazionali, in particolare tedeschi, francesi e belgi.

Per spiegare in modo semplice cosa fanno i macchinari che le Officine Gorgeri producono, ci affidiamo al titolare Riccardo Gorgeri: “Produciamo macchine e impianti che aprono le balle di fibra, le puliscono, che aggiungono i prodotti chimici necessari per le lavorazioni successive e che eseguono la miscelazione di questi componenti. Tutto questo adattabile alle specifiche esigenze del cliente”.

I differenti modelli di apriballe, per esempio, sono disponibili in varie larghezze di lavoro. Gli apritori in fino sono in grado di aprire qualsiasi tipo di fibra, sia sintetica che naturale, addirittura Gorgeri produce un apritore cardante per fibra bicomponente. Gorgeri produce anche sistemi di oliatura, diversi a seconda della quantità di ensimaggio che le fibre necessitano. Tra gli impianti di preparazione mischia ci sono quelli dedicati ad apertura, pulitura, miscelazione, bagnatura e stoccaggio di piccoli e grandi lotti; altri impianti sono destinati invece alla produzione di feltri, fibre naturali e tessuto-nontessuto.

E proprio quello della lavorazione del tessuto-non tessuto è un comparto in cui Gorgeri è specializzata dato che l’80% della clientela di Officine Gorgeri lavora proprio nel settore geotessile. “Abbiamo realizzato macchine in grado di lavorare i materiali più disparati: dalla fibra di legno a quella di cocco - conclude Gorgeri - i cambiamenti del mercato ci impongono di fare continuamente ricerca, un impegno che ormai rappresenta il 15-20% della nostra attività e che viene svolto da nostro personale interno dedicato”.

Poke: summer in a dish POKE MA BUONE. ECCO IL PIATTO DELL’ESTATE

by Matteo Grazzini Trendy? Definitely. Summery? Definitely. Inexpensive? Definitely, although not always and not everywhere. Good? It’s a matter of taste, but many people will say “Definitely!”.

‘Technically’ speaking, poke is a traditional Hawaiian dish of raw fish or chicken, served either as an appetizer or a main course, and very popular right now. Poke bars are mushrooming everywhere, from city centers to shopping malls, a sign that the market is in highdemand for this exotic dish.

And so, considering that the major trade shows are held in summertime (whether early or late summer), why not go hunting out the best poke bars and restaurants in Florence, Paris and Milan?

In Florence, one of the best-known venues is the Sea Bar Pokè (8/10r Via Pellicceria), for both the location and the quality of food: halfway between the Porcellino fountain and Palazzo Davanzati, just steps from the Arno river. The poke bowls come with fresh fish on the side. Temakinho Florence Strozzi (14/15 Piazza degli Strozzi) is literally beside one of Florence’s and Italy’s most famous palazzos and is located on the premises of a former football-themed restaurant: it is part of a chain with fourteen branches in seven Italian cities, plus one in Lyon and one in Monte Carlo. It offers a larger version of the classic “sustainable” bowl, but also sushi and Brazilian dishes. Pokeria by Nima is located in two distinct areas of the city: downtown (5 Piazza Nazario Sauro) and in the Novoli area (21 Via Finzi) for those staying on the outskirts of Florence during the Pitti Filati days. The dishes are a delight for both the palate and the sight: the ingredients are all laid out in individual multicolored bowls. The main ingredients are varied (rice, black rice, emmer, quinoa) and there is a wine range of toppings: tuna, salmon, octopus, vegetables and sauces. The most exotic restaurant in town is located in the city’s most truly Florentine neighborhood, Kawaii ( 8/r Borgo San Frediano), the city’s only sake bar. In addition to a number of fixed ingredients ( rice, mango, avocado, soybeans and algae), there are

Alla moda? Certamente. Estivo? Certamente. Economico? Certamente, anche se non sempre e non ovunque. Buono? Dipende dai gusti, ma in tanti sono pronti a rispondere “certamente”.

‘Tecnicamente’ stiamo parlando del piatto hawaiano a base di pesce crudo e pollo, servito come antipasto o come portata principale più famoso e richiesto del momento, il Poke. In ogni città, dai centri storici ai centri commerciali, stanno aprendo Poke bar in rapida successione, segno di un mercato che richiede sempre più questo piatto esotico.

Ed allora, visto che le principali fiere si svolgono tutte in estate (iniziata da poco o piena che sia) perché non scovare i migliori bar e ristoranti di Firenze, Parigi e Milano dove viene servito, molto spesso in esclusiva?

A Firenze uno dei posti più noti è il Sea Bar Pokè (via Pellicceria 8/10 r), sia per la posizione che per la qualità: a metà strada tra la fontana del Porcellino e Palazzo Davanzati, a due passi dall’Arno, aggiunge alle Poke Bowl anche pesce fresco a parte. Temakinho Florence Strozzi (piazza degli Strozzi 14/15) è letteralmente a fianco di uno dei palazzi più famosi di Firenze e d’Italia ed ha aperto in un locale dove prima il tema era il calcio: il ristorante fa parte di una catena con quattordici punti in sette città italiane, uno a Lione e uno a Montecarlo. Propone la classica bowl ‘sostenibile’, una sua versione più ‘large’ ma anche piatti di sushi e della cucina brasiliana. Il poke della Pokeria by Nima si trova in due punti distinti della città: in centro (piazza Nazario Sauro 5) oppure nella zona di Novoli (via Finzi 21), per chi è alloggiato più in periferia nei giorni di Pitti Filati.

L’ordinazione viene fatta sia con le papille gustative che con gli occhi, visto che gli ingredienti sono tutti a vista, raccolti in vaschette multicolor: la base è varia (riso, riso nero, farro, quinoa), la guarnizione ancora di più, tra tonno, salmone, gamberi, polpo, verdure e salse, topping. Nel cuore della fiorentinità verace c’è quanto di più esotico si possa trovare in città, il Kawaii (borgo San Frediano 8/r), l’unico sake bar della città. some unusual ingredients that can be added to the bowls, such as tofu and bass. There are also 40 sakes on the list, divided into seven different types. An unusual place for enjoying an Hawaiian dish is Via Vai (33/r Via Pisana), a restaurant known for its meat-based dishes, but which added poke to the menu as an attractive alternative to its gourmand customers.

One thing that Paris shares with Florence is the pleasure of dining with a view of the city’s most symbolic monuments and sights, which is a good way to while away the wait for restaurant food ( although the wait for a dish of poke is usually very little). Atelier Poké (18 Rue Vignon) features an elegant name and elegant poke bowls to be enjoyed in the shade of the Madeleine. Octopus, salmon and vegetables are the must-tries, but all the ingredients are absolutely fresh. Poke Bar Opéra (24 Rue de 4 Septembre) is in the Gaillon neighborhood, not far from the Louvre, which is why prices are more in step with the nearby luxury shopping streets than with a poke bar on the outskirts of Paris, but there is nothing prohibitive on the menu. We highly recommend the salmon, but also all the various sauces. The poke bowls are rich and reasonably priced, and you can sit and eat on swings giving onto the restaurant’s windows. The Pacifico Paris (50 Rue Saint Georges) is another colorful restaurant where the lively service goes hand in hand with the quality of food: actually poke here is paired with the traditional dish of another country, Peru.

The poke-ceviche combination, based on a mix of fish, spices and vegetables, seems to be quite popular nowadays.

Milan is the Italian city where Hawaiian food first arrived, because of its innate ability in sensing and seizing trends and because of its being at the crossroads of different cultures. I Love Poke Milano has five branches in various areas of the city (Piazza dei Mercanti,

alga) si possono aggiungere ingredienti principali anche insoliti, come il tofu e la spigola. Divagazione sul tema i 40 sake disponibili, divisi in sette diverse tipologie. Infine un posto insolito per un piatto hawaiano, il Via Vai (via Pisana 33/r), ristorante noto soprattutto per la carne ma che ha aggiunto il poke in menù guadagnandosi l’apprezzamento dei buongustai cittadini.

Anche Parigi ha il grande vantaggio di poter abbinare al gusto di un piatto la vista suggestiva su monumenti o luoghi mitici ed emblematici, particolare che aiuta a sopportare l’attesa (che però in genere per il poke è minima). Atelier Poké (18 rue Vignon) ha già nel nome una certa finezza, che poi si ritrova anche nelle bowl da gustare quasi all’ombra della Madeleine. Polpo, salmone e verdura gli imperdibili ma tutti gli ingredienti sono assolutamente freschi. Poke Bar Opéra (24 rue de 4 Septembre) è nel quartiere di Gaillon, affatto lontano dal Louvre: per questo i prezzi sono più in linea con le vicine strade del lusso che con un bar di prima periferia ma non c’è niente di inavvicinabile. Anche in questo caso le raccomandazioni sono tutte per il salmone ma hanno un posto in prima fila anche le varie salse per il condimento. Al MA'LOA Hawaiian Poke bowl (57 rue de Chlichy) le isole del Pacifico sono protagoniste anche nell’arredamento, tra tavole da surf, piante lussureggianti e immagini di onde e spiagge.

Le bowl, molto ricche e a prezzi più che abbordabili, si possono gustare su altalene a più posti affacciate sulla vetrina. Infine un assaggio al Pacifico Paris (50 rue Saint Georges) altro locale assai colorato dove la vivacità del servizio va di pari passo con la qualità del cibo: in realtà il poke è andato ad aggiungersi ad un piatto tipico di un’altra nazione, il Perù. L’accoppiata poke-ceviche, sempre basata sull’unione tra vari ingredienti di pesce, spezie e verdure, pare funzionare bene.

Two locations for Poke Away (5 Via Santa Tecla and 1 Corso di Porta Ticinese) and, again, a mix of Hawaiian and Peruvian cuisine, including a bowl with an unmistakable name, Machu Picchu, made with perch, shrimps, avocado mousse, sweet potato mousse, coriander, cherry tomatoes and leche de tigre. Maui Poke (Via San Vittore al Teatro 3) features colorful exotic-style interiors and, with a bit of imagination, Milan’s scorching-hot July sun may project customers in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. A journey of the mind before dishes of fish tacos, fresh centrifuged juices and bowls with salmon, shrimps or vegan ingredients. The only thing missing to make the atmosphere of the Poku Poke Place (12 Corso Sempione) perfect is a ukulele, considering that the walls are covered with surfboards and all around pineapples and flower necklaces. Many are the poke variants offered in this corner of Hawaii.

Fish comes with lotus flowers, beetroot, gazpacho, grapefruit or sesame; meat (chicken or beef) with sauces, rice, peppers and spring onions. Our tour of the Pacific Islands ends at the Poke House (24 Via Gaetano de Castillia, 3 Via Pasquale Paoli and Piazza Tre Torri), where there are fixed poke bowls, but also more creative and customized combinations. Here you will also find the Hawaiian mochi, rice cakes with green tea, chocolate, coconut, mango, vanilla and hazelnut ice cream. Aloha.

Due locali per Poke Away (via Santa Tecla 5 e Corso di Porta Ticinese 1) ed anche in questo caso c’è un mix con la cucina peruviana, tanto è vero che tra le varei bowl ce n’è una dal nome inconfondibile, Machu Picchu, che ha come ingredienti il pesce persico, i gamberi, la mousse di avocado, quella di patata dolce, il coriandolo, i pomodorini e il leche de tigre. Maui Poke (via San Vittore al Teatro 3) ha l’esotismo di palme e colori nelle decorazioni e con un po’ di fantasia il sole torrido del luglio milanese potrebbe proiettare i clienti in mezzo all’Oceano Pacifico. Un viaggio con la mente da fare con davanti tacos di pesce, fresche centrifughe e bowls con salmone, gamberi o con ingredienti vegani. Manca solo un ukulele per caratterizzare l’atmosfera del Poku Poke Place (corso Sempione 12), visto che sulle pareti ci sono le tavole da surf e tutto intorno ananas e collane di fiori: tante le varianti di poke proposte in questo angolo di Hawaii. Il pesce va con fiori di loto, barbabietola, gazpacho, pompelmo, o sesamo; la carne (di pollo o di manzo) con salse, riso, peperoni o cipollotti. Fine dell’escursione nel Pacifico al Poke House (via Gaetano de Castillia 24, via Pasquale Paoli 3 e piazza Tre Torri), dove si trovano poke fissi ma anche in combinazioni più fantasiose da gestire in autonomia. Qui anche gli hawaiian mochi, i dessert con pasta di riso e riempiti di gelato al tè verde, cioccolato, cocco, mango, vaniglia, nocciola.
