La seconda giovinezza arriva a sessant’anni. Le città di Radda, Gaiole e Castellina che sette secoli fa furono baluardo difensivo del Chianti, si ergono oggi idealmente a protettrici del loro territorio e delle sue peculiarità come i terzieri nella Lega dell’epoca. Con la collezione I Terzieri, l’odierna Geografico mostra tutto il suo essere Cantina di eccellenza puntando sulla valorizzazione del sangiovese e della sua espressività che ogni particella sa proporre nel calice. Il Levante di Radda, il Ponente di Castellina e il Tramontano di Radda, sono i tre baluardi moderni che Geografico ha messo a difesa dell’uva più rappresentativa della gloriosa tradizione. A tangible revival which the Piccini family has been experiencing since 2018 by focusing on quality through cautious investments and staff optimization and which has led, this year, to the release of three new labels fully representative of the terroir and the area’s history. The towns of Radda, Gaiole and Castellina, which seven centuries ago served as a defensive bulwark for the Chianti area, today act as virtual protectors of their land and its characteristics, just like the so-called terzieri back in the Middle Ages. With I Terzieri collection, today’s Geografico reveals all its charm by enhancing the Sangiovese and its expressiveness through every particle of the wine. The Levante of Radda, the Ponente of Castellina and the Tramontano of Radda are the three modern defensive bulwarks with which the Geografico protects the most representative grape variety of its glorious tradition. An idea conceived three years ago in order to achieve a standard of excellence consistent over time.

CHIANTI CLASSICO DOCG TERZIERE DI LEVANTE 2019

L’esemplare dell’est ha stuzzicante semitrasparenza e arriva soavemente al naso con nitidi profumi di rosa rossa corredata da frutti di bosco e arancia con tocchi balsamici e delicatamente speziati. In bocca è straordinario per freschezza e persistenza, un’eleganza quasi sorprendente per un gaiolese di ottimo estratto e diretta magistralmente da una componente tannica sublime che sul finale, nonostante la giovane esuberanza, lascia spazio a lunghi ritorni sapidi di ciliegia, chinotto e pepe rosa. This wine is invitingly semi-transparent and sweetly hits the nose with closefocused aromas of red rose, wild berries and orange with balsamic and delicately spicy hints. Extraordinarily fresh and lingering on the palate, with an elegance quite amazing for an excellently extracted Gaiole wine and masterfully balanced by the sublime tannic component which on the finish, despite its youthful exuberance, makes way for lingering and savory after-aromas of cherry, bitter orange and pink pepper.

CHIANTI CLASSICO DOCG TERZIERE DI PONENTE 2019

Il paladino di Castellina ha un rubino più denso che anticipa intense note olfattive di mora e ribes nero in confettura; petali di pansé escono soavi dal calice e dopo la rotazione si accompagnano a fragranze mentolate, di sottobosco e carnose con pungenze che ben ricordano la noce moscata. Il liquido avvolge il palato con personalità e sostanza; un tannino ancora da ammansire è bilanciato da una buona acidità e da alcol tonificante: il risultato è una piacevole scia finale di amarena, cioccolato e marmellata di arance. This Castellina wine shows a fuller rubyred appearance with intense aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant preserve; pansy petals exude from the glass along with, as you swirl the wine around, minty, undergrowth and meaty notes with a pungent hint of nutmeg. Personality and body on the palate; the not yet tamed tannins are balanced by good acidity and invigorating alcohol. As a result, a pleasant sour cherry, chocolate and marmalade finish.

CHIANTI CLASSICO DOCG TERZIERE DI TRAMONTANO 2019

Il difensore del sangiovese di Radda ha più massa colorante della media e ciò intriga non poco. Il naso si diverte con le essenze di visciola, fiori rossi, mirto, terra bagnata e sfumature di carne e gesso che poi rinnovano lavanda, tamarindo e cannella. Una concentrata ampiezza coerente al sorso: di avvio setoso ma con freschezza vibrante e dinamico negli aromi sorretti da tannini ben inseriti su un alcol percettibile ma rispettoso. Ha tanta persistenza e fresco finale dal sapore di agrumi, tabacco e liquirizia. This Sangiovese Radda wine is more deeply colored than on average, which is quite intriguing. The nose offers aromas of sour cherry, red flowers, myrtle, rain-soaked earth and hints of meat and chalk, followed by lavender, tamarind and cinnamon. Consistently generous on the palate: a silky attack but with vibrant and dynamic freshness in the aromas backed by tannins well-integrated with the perceivable but not overwhelming alcohol. Very lingering and fresh on the finish with citrus fruit, tobacco and licorice.
