Credit Transfer and Recognition CREDIT RECOGNITION Credit recognition may take place when a student accesses an official undergraduate degree with subjects (credits) already passed in the same or in another official undergraduate degree, or in university degree courses that are being phased out (4-year undergraduate degrees, 3-year undergraduate degrees, etc.). Criteria for credit recognition between undergraduate degrees: If a student register for an undergraduate degree after having passed several credits in a different beloging to the same field of knowledge, then core subjets that the student has alredy passed will be recognised with their original name, number of credits and mark obtanined. g If a student gains a degree from another branch of knowledge, the basic subjects common to both branches of knowledge will be recognized. g Non-core subjects (i.e. obligatory and optional subjects) will be recognised as per the following criteria: - number of credits must be at least 75% of the number of credits of the subjects whose credit recognition is being requested. - said subjects must include at least 75% of the contents included in the subjects for which credit recognition is being requested. - said subjects must provide students with at least 75% of the knowledge that would be acquired by the student in the subjects for which credit recognition is being requested. g The subjects corresponding to transversal competences or knowledge (in the UA, level of foreign language, competences in new technologies and oral and written expression) will also be recognized. g In any case, credits corresponding to the Degree and Master’s Programmes Final Projects will not be recognized. g It is also possible to request credit recognition in all undergraduate degrees from senior vocational education courses in Artistic Education and university own courses, which overall cannot be higher than 15% of the total amount of credits included in the undergraduate degree’s syllabus. Similarly, proven work and professional experience can only be recognised as credits for obtaining an official title as long as said experience covers at least 75% of the subjects for which credit recognition is being requested. g

The “adaptation tables” included in the undergraduate degree information report shall apply when a student converts to the undergraduate degree replacing his/her degree. In other cases, the subjects passed in degrees that are being phased out shall be recognised depending on the similarity between the content of the subjects taken by the student and those contained in the curriculum of the undergraduate degree which the student has accessed (similarity between subjects).
CREDIT TRANSFER When a student accesses an undergraduate degree with subjects already passed in other unfinished official university courses and the subjects are not recognised, then they shall be transferred to his/her new academic record, so that they appear in the academic documents issued, especially in the European Diploma Supplement (EDS). REQUESTS FOR CREDIT RECOGNITION AND TRANSFER Requests for credit recognition and/or transfer are submitted at the secretary’s office of the centre (faculty/university school) in the period laid down by the University for each academic year. Documentation: g Syllabus of each subject, stamped by the centre where it was studied or by the department responsible for teaching it. g Personal Academic Certificate issued by the centre of origin or certified photocopy. Between University of Alicante courses it is enough to submit the academic record, duly stamped by the centre of origin. g Photocopy of the official curriculum publication. The documentation may be simplified when dealing with courses studied at the University of Alicante itself. Requests for credit transfer and recognition shall be dealt with by the centre boards created to do so. UA Regulations.
