Flashcards of the unit, Mr Hippo puppet, Meet and greet (Games).
Playful activities
1 | Sit the students in a circle and place the flashcards on the floor, ask one child to come to the front and give him the big hand. The child will touch the flashcard you say and repeat the expression.
Teacher: Touch Hello!
2 | Using Mr. Hippo puppet, greet the children then choose a child and ask him/her to give Mr. Hippo one of the flashcards that will be on the floor.
3 | Propose playing sit down/ stand up: the students will be on a circle and you will have to give instructions for them to perform.
Teacher: Boys, sit down!
Girls, sit down!
Repeat the instructions many times and at different speed
4 | Using Meet and gree t ask students their names, you can also ask about their gender
Teacher: My name is Mr Hippo. What’s your name?
Student: My name is…
Teacher: Are you a boy or a girl?
Student: I’m a girl/boy.
Students will use different puppets to repeat the dialogue.
5 | In this opportunity students will have to make a line in the order you say.
Teacher: boy, girl, girl, boy, boy, boy… when the whole class is in the line they will have to introduce themselves
Students: My name is…

Ask students to color the big hand on their books as they want (red = hello / blue = bye bye)
Then cut out the hand and using half a balloon stick, turn them into a puppet. Now children can play with them by greeting their classmates as they listen.
