CHARACTERISTICS – Twin vessel of the Italie. – Together with the Simplon, the only boat in the fleet to have retained all its wood panelling and furnishings in its 1st class lounge. – Lounge fittings in chestnut wood inlaid with amaranth and ebony and enhanced with engraved bronze trimming. The “smoking room” on the upper deck in front of the fireplace has been restored.

Al’origine, le Vevey était équipé d’une machine à vapeur classique de Sulzer Frères, à deux cylindres et à double expansion, semblable à celle que l’on trouve aujourd’hui encore sur le Savoie de 1914. Elle a été remplacée par un groupe diesel-électrique en 1955. Le Vevey a bénéficié, entre mai 2012 et août 2013, d’une rénovation complète, avec mise en place d’une nouvelle propulsion diesel-électrique à la pointe de l’évolution technologique. Environ 60 000 heures de travail ont été nécessaires pour lui offrir une nouvelle jeunesse. Grâce aux recherches menées par l’Association Patrimoine du Léman (APL), il a été possible de restituer la silhouette originale du bateau. Le système de propulsion diesel-électrique et un chauffage efficace permettent au Vevey de naviguer en hiver, alors que les vapeurs ne sont pas maintenus sous pression en basse saison. ✵ T he Vevey was originally equipped with a conventional two-cylinder, dual-expansion steam engine from Sulzer Brothers, very similar to the one that can still be found on the Savoie, dating back to 1914. It was replaced in 1955 by a diesel-electric generator. Between May 2012 and August 2013, the Vevey underwent a full renovation with the installation of a new diesel-electric propulsion unit at the cutting edge of technological developments. About 60,000 man-hours were required to offer the boat a new lease of life. Thanks to the research carried out by the Association Patrimoine du Léman (APL), the original outline of the boat was restored. The diesel-electric propulsion system and efficient heating means that the Vevey can continue to ply the waters of the lake during winter, with the pressure of the boilers not maintained in the steamers during the off season. ✵

Lausanne et retour les samedi, dimanche et jours fériés, croisières Genève-Yvoire retour du lundi au vendredi.
