Artist Brenda Breck.

Self-taught artist Brenda Breck discovered her creative gift early on when she began drawing as a child. As she got a little older, her talent became evident to those around her, often prompting requests for her work. Creating art that moved others would inspire Brenda to continue her artistic journey as she expressed herself in various creative mediums.

Brenda draws from a broad spectrum of styles, including realism, impressionism, idealism, and stylization, all infused with vibrant colors and a rich emotional depth. To Brenda, art isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about crafting experiences and connections that bring joy.

Brenda is passionate about bringing her work to the space of others. As such, her pieces can be found in private homes and workplaces, providing warmth and emotion to the setting. She also raises funds for causes she holds close to her heart, including helping children with cancer, those with Down syndrome, and autism and providing resources to local organizations like the New Orleans Museum of Art.

An artist of many facets, Brenda also spent some time in the makeup art world. After honing her skills in Paris and New York, she worked with prestigious brands like Lancôme, eventually expanding her talents to television and film. One of her standout experiences was her work on a PBS special, where she was tasked with aging a 25-year-old actress by sixty years under the guidance of Zoltan Elek, the Academy Award-winning makeup artist from Mask. This experience allowed Brenda to consider combining art with storytelling and empathy. Each project taught her that every line, shade, and contour could evoke emotions, communicate ideas, and capture nuanced stories. This is a lesson she continues to carry into her painting today.

A Tapestry of Passion, Color, and Connection

Beyond makeup artistry, Brenda’s creativity extended to the advertising industry, where she spent more than two decades as a producer and consultant. Working with major clients like Procter & Gamble, Burger King, and Pepsi, Brenda became known for her commitment to excellence. She won numerous awards, including a first-place accolade at the U.S. Commercial Festival for Tabasco and multiple Addy Awards for outstanding production. Her experience in advertising sharpened her eye for detail and instilled in her a deep appreciation for how art can move audiences and bring stories to life on a grand scale.

After years of contributing her talents to various industries, Brenda returned to her lifelong passion of painting. Supported

by her husband, Bob, who encouraged her to devote more time to her art, Brenda transformed her love of painting from a personal pastime into a full-time pursuit. The emotion and creativity Brenda pours into her art are palpable. Her Metairie home radiates her unique vision, showcasing not only pieces of her work but the distinctive work of others that bring an inviting and relaxing warm spirit. Each piece in her home, large or small, brings vitality to the space, and it is clear that they mean a great deal to Brenda and Bob.

A prevalent and significant theme in her work she coined “Art for Life,” explains Brenda, “is an expression of how life is my inspiration for my creations. As I have noted, I enjoy working with vivid, vibrant colors that will emote the viewers.”

In each brushstroke, Brenda is inspired by the world around her. She draws from the vibrant colors, shapes, and emotions that make life beautiful. Brenda notes, quoting Georgia O’Keeffe, “I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way.” In Brenda’s hands, art is more than a visual; it invites others to connect, dream, and see the world through a lens of hope and beauty.

Brenda Breck’s evolution as an artist, from a talented youth, makeup artist, and advertising executive to full-time painter, is a testament to the transformative power of following one’s passion and using art as a force for good.

Holiday

Gems and Traditions in the Crescent City

AS A CITY THAT LOVES NOTHING more than celebrating, New Orleans has no shortage of memorable experiences to celebrate the holiday season. Whether you live to see the glitter of the lights, prefer stepping back in time for traditions gone by, or just can’t wait for a parade, all of your holiday heart’s desires and dreams can come true in the Crescent City. December is a great time to explore the city while she is dressed in her holiday finery. Here, I have put together a few holiday treasures you may not know about but would not want to miss.

CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS AT THE HISTORIC HERMANN-GRIMA AND GALLIER HOUSES

Traditions take center stage this holiday season at the Hermann-Grima and Gallier Houses. Step back in time and explore the rich, multicultural Christmas traditions of 19th-century New Orleans through holiday tours. These tours showcase Christmas celebrations from Christmas Eve through January 8, blending Creole, European, and American customs with festive and solemn observances.

Prepare to discover 1830s Creole holiday customs at Hermann-Grima House, particularly the grand New Year’s Day celebrations, with a Creole Holiday Traditions tour. Running six days a week from November 13 to January 6, enjoy New Year’s Day customs and traditional decorations like lush magnolia, holly, and pine garlands spread hither and to. For a smell that captures the essence of days gone by Christmas, look for pomanders. These heavenly fragrant oranges and clove balls, inspired by the French pomme d’ambre, bring a warm and spicy aroma everyone loves at Christmastime.

Also hosted at the Hermann-Grima House is a cooking demonstration called Open-Hearth Cooking Demonstrations and a special Hannukah event. The demonstrations will include cooking in the original 1830s open-hearth kitchen using authentic recipes, methods, and tools.

The Hannukah event will include latke cooking demonstrations, traditional music, and other Hanukkah observances that have been treasured for over 2,000 years.

If you seek a Victorian-era Christmas, tour the Gallier House for A Nineteenth-Century Christmas. This tour, which runs six days a week from November 13 to January 6, focuses on Victorian holiday traditions and décor. Visitors will also gain insight into the complex experiences of enslaved people, for whom the holiday season was a mix of brief respite, family gatherings, and bittersweet celebrations.

This immersive experience will reveal the longcelebrated New Orleans Christmas as a time of introspection and cultural expression. You will not be disappointed as you embrace the history and timeless traditions that are still held sacred.

THE RÉVEILLON DINNER:

A LOVELY TRADITION, INDEED

Step into a New Orleans restaurant this holiday season, where flickering candles and holiday regalia create an unforgettable atmosphere and feast called the Réveillon dinner. This holiday dining tradition is rooted in Catholic customs. Derived from the French word for

“awakening,” Réveillon began as a feast after Midnight Mass, allowing families to break their fast and celebrate Christmas with a grand meal. This cherished tradition continues today, with restaurants offering Réveillon dinners throughout the holiday season.

Located in the former Rodd Brothers Molasses Refinery in the Warehouse District, Briquette offers a warm and charming holiday atmosphere. From November 26th through New Year’s Day, merrymakers can dine on a special Réveillon menu, including four courses of delectable fare. Begin with a classic Shrimp Remoulade, followed by your choice of Oyster Rockefeller, served in a mini skillet with fried oysters and hollandaise, or a hearty Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. For the third course, select from Blackened Redfish with crawfish étouffée and heirloom potatoes, a Porter House of Pork crusted with bleu cheese and topped with a fig demi-glace alongside pork belly plantain mash

and green beans, or Veal Osso Buco with pasta. Dessert is a mouthwatering choice of Holiday Bread Pudding Beignets or Satsuma Cake. Then, finish your meal with a bit of lagniappe in the form of Anna’s Grasshopper cocktail.

As always, at Briquette, you can expect every bite to be crafted with the finest, freshest ingredients to deliver bold flavors and a truly memorable dining experience.

Since 2019, ANNUNCIATION, also in the Warehouse District, has embraced the New Orleans tradition, offering a five-course meal with its renowned Reveillon Menu, offered this season from November 29 through December 23. Dine in a space decked in holiday finery, with holiday tunes from the live piano on Saturday evenings adding to the festive ambiance.

Start with the chef’s choice amuse-bouche, then choose from tasty options like Paneed Oysters with >>

a lemon beurre blanc or a vegetarian-friendly Potato Gnocchi in a Parmesan mushroom sauce. Follow this with hearty selections such as Duck & Andouille Gumbo or a refreshing Winter Salad. Savor choices like Speckled Trout in a rich lobster sauce, Beef Wellington with a cabernet reduction, or the Mediterranean-inspired Eggplant medallions for the main course. Complete your meal with sweet delights, as you choose housemade cheesecake with

orange liqueur, a classic Italian cannoli, or Tiramisu. And this year, Annunciation features a holiday-inspired cocktail crafted to complement the season’s flavors.

Embracing the tradition of the Réveillon dinner is quintessential New Orleans, but with a twist that allows one to savor the flavors and holiday charm more than just Christmas Eve. Why limit the good times and great food to one night?

HOLIDAY CRUISES AND TOURS WITH THAT NOLA TWIST

Celebrate Christmas in true New Orleans style with unique holiday experiences that capture the city’s spirit, culture, and history by taking a motor coach tour or a cruise on the Mighty Mississippi. The New Orleans Steam Boat Company features a Christmas and New Year’s Eve cruise. If you would rather stay on dry land, opt for a city tour or an iconic bonfire tour on a Gray Line coach.

Step aboard the Steamboat Natchez on the mighty Mississippi for a festive Christmas Eve cruise. As you roll along, soak up the sounds of live jazz from the Dukes of Dixieland while dining on a Creole-inspired dinner and festive holiday cocktails as you peer at the sparkling New Orleans skyline. Santa even manages a quick stop to make a special appearance, adding a family-friendly touch to a night no one will soon forget.

For another memorable celebration aboard the

Steamboat Natchez, ring in the New Year amid three spacious decks as you indulge in an exquisite array of hand-passed hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, and live music. Then, end 2024 with a dazzling midnight fireworks show in true Crescent City style as you welcome 2025.

Experience Louisiana’s holiday traditions of the magic of bonfires and bright lights with Gray Line’s Bonfire Adventure Tour and City Highlights Tour. Start your journey along the Mississippi River as you make your way to the Destrehan Plantation, where you will be served a traditional holiday dinner, then, off to the levee for the time-honored bonfires. The glorious “faux de joie,” or fires of joy, light the way for Papa Noel, or as many believe, radiate the path to Midnight Mass. One thing is sure: witnessing this stunning custom will be an unforgettable experience.

For an even better peek at Christmas in New Orleans, hop on the Gray Line’s City Tour to explore the French Quarter, Treme, and Faubourg Marigny, with captivating stories of voodoo and piracy, scenic stops at Audubon Park and the Garden District, and a stroll through the festive Roosevelt Hotel lobby. With New Orleans’ skyline and holiday spirit as the backdrop, these tours promise a holiday experience of a lifetime.

I LOVE A PARADE, AND SO DOES NEW ORLEANS!

What would any occasion be in New Orleans without a parade? Christmastime is no exception, as no one brings the parade revelry like New Orleans. >>

Begin your day of parading at 11:00 A.M. with the Children’s Hospital Holiday Parade, which will roll on December 7th, making its way through the French Quarter and Downtown to Lafayette Square. Kern Studios has customdesigned over 20 holiday-themed floats decked out with animatronic props, special effects, sound systems, and classic rider floats. Spectators can also look forward to towering helium balloons, marching bands (If you know, you know.), and, of course, Santa Claus!

Take in another parade on Dec. 7th at 7:30 PM with the Krewe of Krampus. Adding a distinctive New Orleans parade experience, the Krewe of Krampus will have the streets rumbling with clanking chains, ringing bells, and horns, in the thrill only a New Orleans parade can deliver. Krampus himself, complete with switches in hand, will lead the moonlit Krampuslauf Parade alongside Saint Nicholas and a misfit crew of legendary folklore creatures, including the Frau Perchta, the Yule Cat, Knecht Ruprecht, Belsnickel, and the trickster Swampus, and not to worry, the Y’ules will be out in force, prowling the streets alongside the mystic Sisters of Shhh.

The West End Christmas Boat Parade is a delightful and dazzling holiday celebration you won’t want to miss this season. On December 14th, prepare for Lake Ponchartrain to transform into a shimmering wonderland, where boats glide across the water decked out in brilliant holiday lights, beginning at the New Basin Canal Lighthouse along Lakeshore Drive and on to Canal Blvd. Witness this magical scene that brings the spirit of the season to life. It’s a floating parade of holiday joy, painting the water with the colors of Christmas.

Anna Tusa

I have been with Inside New Orleans since 2017.

Jonee and Inside New Orleans are amazing! I value the partnership that we have created over the last 7 years, and our friendship. I truly appreciate her letting me write the “Drinks by Anna” column in each issue as a creative outlet for me writing about one of my passions – craft cocktails.

Celebrating 10 years

Symmetry Jewelers & Designers

Connie Thompson, Anna Hollinger & Richard Mathis

We have been with Inside New Orleans since the launch 10 years ago.

At Symmetry, we’re proud to be part of the New Orleans community, and Inside New Orleans captures the heartbeat of the city in a way that resonates with us. We’ve enjoyed being featured and appreciate the way they tell the stories that matter to our city and to local businesses like ours.

Celebrating 10 years

ONE THING I DEARLY LOVE about New Orleans is that you never need to spend a fortune to immerse yourself in the rich culture. Of course, I also believe sometimes you should spend big bucks on an unforgettable dinner or experience, and New Orleans offers plenty of those, too. But while we’re all trying to figure out how to turn shrinking dollars into groceries and gas, I thought it would be a fun challenge to develop an ultra-budget itinerary for a great day or two in my favorite place.

If you hope to enjoy the Big Easy on a budget, this itinerary will give you a true experience of authentic New Orleans culture combined with some of her most iconic sights.

• Get morning coffee from French Truck on Magazine; my favorite is the Le Grande Coq Rouge roast - $3.50

• Stroll Magazine Street for an hour or five (It’s six miles long!) - FREE

• Ride the streetcar through the stunning Garden District past block after block of beautiful, historic estates canopied by sprawling, centuries-old live oaks; depart at Canal Street and walk into the French Quarter - $1.25

Budget Itinerary DayNewinOrleans $35

• Pray in Immaculate Conception Church (Jesuit Church, as we call it) and enjoy its soaring interior, an ode to Our Lady’s purity and beauty. FREE

• Walk and wind through the French Quarter, taking moody photos you can print and frame later as a perfect souvenir. FREE

• Pray in St Louis Cathedral, one of the oldest Catholic places of worship in the United States. The stunning cathedral has strong historical significance for the American Catholic Church; there’s also a striking 120-yearold statue of St Jeanne d’Arc at the rear of the nave. FREE

• Visit the Maid of Orleans statue in the Place de France near the French Market, a gift from the people of France to the city of New Orleans (Nouvelle Orléans); it’s located in a small park featuring plaques with coats of arms from towns and cities connected to Jeanne, including Orléans, Rouen, and Reims (also: This statue looks like a twin of another located across from the Louvre in Paris). FREE

• Tour the Historic New Orleans Collection museum: an interesting collection of artwork and artifacts, plus free air conditioning. FREE

• Stroll the Mississippi River Levee toward the ferry dock: Street performers often put on their shows near the steps; at the top, you’ll get excellent scenic views of the cathedral and the river with its steamboats and bridges. FREE

• Ride the Algiers Ferry across the Mighty Mississippi.a $4 round-trip

• Ride the streetcar back up St Charles Avenue - $1.25

• Drive to City Park (bigger than NYC’s Central Park!); you’ll now be in the Mid-City/Bayou St John neighborhoods, so you can either make a marathon day or save the rest for tomorrow!

• Stroll City Park’s alley of oaks, featuring live oaks as old as 800 years, and along its fairytale canal where you can feed friendly ducks; there’s also a wonderful playground here. FREE

• Enjoy beignets at Café du Monde in City Park; so much less crowded than the French Quarter location. - $3.85 for three large beignets (easily sharable!)

• Tour the New Orleans Museum of Art sculpture garden: This garden is right near City Park’s Café du Monde, so it’s easy to walk over to see the incredible

collection of diverse sculptures. FREE

• Pray in Holy Rosary Church, one of the most beautiful domed churches in the nation.

• Tour the St Louis Catholic Cemetery No, 3 on Esplanade Avenue; this will give you a glimpse of the iconic New Orleans cemeteries, but you won’t need to book a pricey tour. FREE

• Pick up beer or wine at Canseco’s Market; sit, drink, and talk along the banks of Bayou St John - $10

• And that brings us to $23.85. You have about $12 left for lunch.

• Cheap eats (not an exclusive list, but some starter ideas):

• Empanola - $4.50 for a delicious, piping-hot empanada filled with gumbo, chorizo, crawfish, and more

• Shawarma on the Go (Jet Gas Station) - $12 platters of surprisingly great Mediterranean food

• Pagoda Café - $4 for the world’s best egg burrito with a side of beans

• Also, check the several mini-marts around town; many of them offer tasty and cheap burgers, hot dogs, and other hot dishes.

HouseHoumas

NESTLED ALONG RIVER ROAD between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, the Houmas House Plantation and its showcase restaurant, Latil’s Landing, offer a captivating blend of history, Southern hospitality, and fine dining that showcases the region’s cultural heritage. From its antebellum roots to its modern-day charm, Houmas House and Latil’s Landing provide visitors with an unforgettable experience highlighting Louisiana’s past and present beauty and complexity. We recently visited Houmas House and were treated to yet another unforgettable meal at Latil’s Landing.

Quarterbacked by Executive Chef Jeremy Langlois, a protégé of Chef John Folse, Latil’s Landing has always

shared a special place in our culinary hearts. We have celebrated notable milestones and accomplishments such as passing the bar exam, an engagement, promotions, and anniversaries at Latil’s Landing. Its distinctive ambiance and first-class food make it one of our favorite restaurant experiences anywhere.

Houmas House, named for the area’s original inhabitants, the Houmas Indians, was established in the early 1800s and was the center of a thriving sugarcane empire. Over time, it passed from different owners. The current owner, Kevin Kelly, has revitalized Houmas House, transforming the property into a mystical and enchanted getaway that leaves visitors awestruck at its

beauty. Kevin deserves praise for restoring the property to its 1840s roots.

Latil’s Landing sits behind Houmas House in a threestory French house built by Alexander Latil in the 1770s. Named in honor of the Latil family, Latil’s Landing has become a culinary destination that showcases Chef Jeremy Langlois’ masterful blend of Louisiana Creole and Cajun cultures with a refined, contemporary twist. When Kevin Kelly hired Chef Jeremy Langlois to open and run Latil’s Landing in the mid-2000s, the game changed forever. Currently, Latil’s Landing offers guests an exceptional Chef’s tasting menu, which changes seasonally to showcase the in-season Louisiana ingredients at the center of each dish.

Our evening began with drinks at the famous Turtle Bar. Nestled in a small building a stone’s throw away from Latil’s Landing, the Turtle Bar offers an intimate setting to enjoy a pre or post-meal drink in the former bachelor pad for the unmarried men of the plantation. Soon after, we made our way up to the second floor of the Latil’s House for our dining adventure.

The dining area at Latil’s Landing offers two main dining rooms that each have their own unique aura and charm. We were lucky enough to dine in the dimly lit dining room, adding to the entire experience. Once seated, our friendly server greeted us and presented us with a basket of fresh bread along with an assortment of butter to lather as we saw fit. Our favorite is always the pecan cane syrup butter. The tasting menu this evening was full of show-stoppers. For our first course, we were treated to charred diver scallops with Boursin cheese risotto, tomato vinaigrette, fresh basil, and garlic chili oil. The scallop was cooked to perfection, and the combination of the tomato vinaigrette with the fresh basil made this an outstanding first act. Next, we were served a gnocchi salad comprised of crispy gnocchi, arugula, shaved shallots, pine nut crema, sun-dried tomatoes, and fresh dill. It was simply a fresh and delectable course that was bursting with flavor. The third course was a panseared redfish filet with cherry tomato confit, summer squash, chive crème fraiche, Cajun caviar, and pickled red onion. This was quite possibly the best redfish dish I have ever eaten. As soon as I took my first bite, I was transported back to my childhood to my grandparents’ dinner table, and I was replaying the countless redfish meals I enjoyed at that table. These happy thoughts just enhanced my dining experience even more. Following the redfish, we were treated to a mint Mai Tai sorbet as a fresh pallet cleanser. This was a fantastic boozy sorbet

with just a small hint of sweet rum.

For the main course, we were treated to my long-lost love, the praline duck. We have been coming to Latil’s Landing for 20 years, and almost every time we have come, I have always ordered this heavenly duck dish when the menu used to be a-la-carte. Chef Jeremy somehow remembered and made sure to have the praline duck on the tasting menu this evening in place of the lamb chops. Nearby diners glanced at my plate in jealous envy when the duck was served. I loved every minute of it. The praline duck features pan-seared duck breast medallions, roasted carrots, asparagus tips, a velvety sweet potato puree, and, the real star of the show, the praline sauce. In my humble opinion, you will struggle to find a finer bite of food anywhere. The dessert was a fantastic peanut butter panna cotta, including a peanut butter custard, shaved chocolate, and raspberry topping. This decadent dessert was the perfect ending to our delightful evening. The attention to detail makes the dining experience at Latil’s Landing so memorable. Each dish is served on beautiful china fashioned after Houmas House’s original style, and the service is second to none

For those of you who have dined at Latil’s Landing in the past, Chef Jeremy has a special treat. Latil’s Landing will soon begin offering items from previous menus that have not been featured in years, such as the coffee-roasted rack of lamb and filet with Abita Root Beer demi-glace.

Following our meal, we were lucky enough to stay the night in one of the quaint cottages on the grounds. Known as The Inn at Houmas House, the collection of cottages is nestled along an ancient oak alley surrounded by lush gardens. Each room inside a cottage is complete with a single king or queen-sized bed or double queen beds. They also feature luxurious bathrooms and a porch where you can enjoy majestic views. Each room is also decorated with old-world furnishings and unique artwork. You can’t beat the convenience of strolling back to your cottage following a stellar meal at Latil’s Landing and enjoying a quiet night’s sleep just feet from Houmas House. As we strolled back to our cottage, my wife and I looked at each other, and she exclaimed, “We need to do this more often.” Truer words have never been spoken. Oh, and Another Thing!

Greta Hudson Honsberger, editor of Inside New Orleans shares her thoughts on...whatever is on her mind. From book reviews to other musings, one thing is certain: it will always be thoughtprovoking and fun.

A Symphony of Swifties Welcome

THE WEEK THE SWIFTIES CONVERGED on the Crescent City was nothing short of magnificent. As the three-show weekend arrived, the city was consumed in a symphony of sheer excitement. A year and a half after navigating a ticket gauntlet that required signing up as a “verified fan,” hoping to be chosen, enduring digital queues with system crashes, bot attacks, and endless waits—The Eras Tour three-show weekend had finally arrived! All of New Orleans was ready to sing along—and she did, loudly and in perfect harmony.

T. Swift blew into town in a blaze of glory, leaving glitter in her wake, and the Crescent City, to put it mildly, pulled out ALL the stops. The city vibrated with the Swiftie spirit, transforming into an Eras wonderland. The week leading up to the concert rose to a crescendo with subtle and not-so-subtle reminders of the electrifying experience to come that would bring together fans from “every” era. Cross the Causeway, and the digital sign board reminded drivers to “Shake it Off, but not your seatbelt!” A massive Eras Tour bracelet was placed on The Dome early in the week, causing fans’ hearts to beat faster as they passed.

Swifties arrived by the droves and savored the top-tier welcome and hospitality one can only find in the Big Easy. In celebration, preparation, and anticipation of the influx of glittery, bracelet-donning super fans, cordiality went “next level” to welcome Taylor’s Squad.

Even on Bourbon Street, fans were swept up in a shared rhythm, harmonizing with one another as they shared favorite lyrics and coordinated the perfect sparkle to their outfits. Fearless-inspired street parties and folklore-themed meetups led to murmurs about surprise songs as anticipation filled the air. Go anywhere near the Dome where the Swifties gathered to meet, greet, and sleep, and get swallowed into a sea of shimmer. Sparkles, glitter, boots, and bracelets were present and accounted for as throngs of fans would stop mid-step to swap a friendship bracelet or throw up a hand heart with their kindred spirits. Instead of the usual shenanigans of the French Quarter, hundreds of glitter-clad fans would break into songs by their idol; there wasn’t a frown within a ten block radius.

Known for letting the good times roll but sometimes

to New Orleans.
It’s Been Waiting for You.

overshadowed by headlines of violence and hardship, destiny took over the Crescent City that week in October, and a pervasive ray of sunshine settled in. Innocence, kindness, and respect were the vibes when the Swifties, adorned in shimmering outfits and armed with handmade friendship bracelets, filled the streets, spreading positivity and lifting spirits.

Fans flocked to cafes, boutiques, restaurants, and hotels; these establishments were smiling- BIG! Even lifelong locals, often jaded by the city’s issues, felt the shift, seeing their home in a slightly different light. In those magical moments, New Orleans became a place of genuine happiness, all thanks to the unshakable energy and warmth of Taylor Swift’s devoted fans.

Artichoke Casserole

IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL time of the year again when we come close to family and friends. We all agree holidays bring joy, laughter, tears, stress, or even a disagreement or two around the table. My hope is you will embrace the moments this holiday and let love rule, no matter our differences. Let’s remember how precious each of us is, even with our flaws and imperfections!

Today, I am sharing a delightful, delicious, cheesy Italian dish I created in 1984. Thanks to my mom, Rachel, who recorded this family recipe. This artichoke casserole is a spin on the very popular stuffed whole artichoke that is available on hundreds of New Orleans menus and local grocers.

ARTICHOKE CASSEROLE

Chop 3 cans of artichoke hearts

Chop 1 small jar of marinated artichokes

Grate 1 small pack of Romano cheese

Grate 1 small pack of Parmesan cheese

1 small pack of shredded Mozzarella cheese (save ½ to sprinkle on top) 2 cups of Italian breadcrumbs

Chop ¼ cup of fresh parsley

1 cup of olive oil

Whisk 2 eggs

Chop 4 green onions

Chop ½ of a small onion

5 chopped garlic cloves

Lemon juice off ½ lemon

¼ tsp of thyme, Pepper if desired; no salt needed

Mix all the ingredients together and place in a pan greased with olive oil. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove the foil in the last ten minutes to allow mozzarella topping to brown.

Please don’t be surprised if your family asks you to make this dish at all your holiday celebrations!
