Mother and Child
Resolving Conflicts in MOTHER-DAUGHTER Relationships Mother-daughter relationships are rarely like Gilmore Girls! While many mothers and daughters strive to establish a tight and close bond with one another, some of these relationships become complicated or even toxic. There are many factors that can contribute in complex relationships, such as cultures, values, morals, maturity, behaviors among others. Some of the unhealthy relationships get better with time, others with good communication and listening. Regardless of how close or complicated a relationship is, research shows that relationships play an extremely important role in our self-esteem and our ability to cope with our feelings. Just like any type of relationship, mother-daughter relationships require mutual support, respect, and understanding to develop and mature. And as daughters mature into adulthood, it becomes easier to find means to communicate and listen to one another to find common grounds.
