SULLIVAN Bloodstock S
ullivan Bloodstock will showcase their third draft of yearlings at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. The bourgeoning business of experienced horsewoman Sherah Sullivan took a small inaugural draft to the Gold Coast in 2022 and that draft already has two three year-old winners this season including Magic Mogul whose trainers deemed him good enough to run in a Listed race as a two year-old, and La Petite Angele who has won two from only six starts to date. How would you sum up your 2024 draft?
“It’s a little bit cliché, but it’s the best group of horses we’ve assembled for a sale to date,” said Sullivan. “We’ve focused on good types and have been very selective to meet the market. Across the board, they are a very nice bunch of horses that I’m really happy with. It’s quite early for us as a brand. We have a bit of success out of our first draft, and we have a really nice spread of horses this year with a nice mix of proven and unproven sires.” Sullivan Bloostock will present eight yearlings by Brazen Beau, Hanseatic, King’s Legacy, Ole Kirk, Snitzel, Street Boss and Tagaloa.

For those who like the theory that daughters of champion mares make great broodmares, Snitzel filly, Lot 409, is the first foal of an unraced Hinchinbrook daughter of Gr1 winner Rewaaya. Rewaaya’s seven foals to race are all winners, including the dam of stakes placed winner of 13 races Alshibaa. This is the family of Gr1 winner Sense of Occasion. A half-sister to dual Listed winner of eight races Newhart (Fighting Sun) is Lot 813, a Brazen Beau filly, who is also a half-sister to stakes placed winner Derasa (Squamosa), from the family of Gr1 winners Fantastic Light and Your Song. Anamoe’s sire Street Boss is represented by a colt, Lot 475, the first foal of an American half-sister to sixtime Gr1 winner English Channel who was the USA Champion Turf Horse in 2007, while Gr2 winning two year-old Lucida is out of this yearling’s dam’s half-sister. Tagaloa filly, Lot 522, is a half-sister to stakes placed winner Hoover Lucy and two other winners, while her dam is six-time winning mare Chelsea Hotel, a daughter of American stakes winner Chelsey’s Image (Holy Bull).
