Widden’s brilliant commercial sire Zoustar capped a memorable Spring with his daughter Joliestar’s decisive win in the elite fillies Classic, the Gr1 1000 Guineas over 1600m at Caulfield. Her victory followed closely on the Gr1 win of Zoustar’s flying son Ozzmosis in the stallion-making Coolmore Stud S over 1200m down the Flemington straight.
They were satisfying and wonderfully timed wins for Widden and Zoustar with the 2024 Magic Millions Sale fast approaching and Ozzmosis’ win had a touch of of deja vu about it. Not so long ago in 2018 Zoustar supplied the trifecta in the same race to emphatically announce that he had arrived as a major force on the Australian commercial breeding landscape. There will be some wonderful opportunities for buyers who can count on the Widden quality continuing with their stock.” Widden, now operating in both NSW and Victoria, with the farm’s headline act being Zoustar based in the Widden Valley, the valley of champions, ably supported by his son Zousain who ran a gallant second to Sunlight on that earlier memorable occasion. Widden will send a premium draft of 77 lots to MM 2024, 40 colts and 37 fillies by Australia’s leading commercial sires. The draft includes 43 lots
