LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT his summer, I have truly enjoyed spending time at the West Clubhouse pool, vacationing with friends at 30A, golfing at Glen Echo Country Club as well as Dalhousie Golf Club, attending many BBQs and birthday parties and spending lots of time with my family. I hope all of you are making wonderful memories and the MAC is part of those memories. While the end of summer is quickly approaching, there is still ample time to take advantage of all the amenities we offer, including the West pool which is at full steam. One of the benefits of being a Member of the Missouri Athletic Club is the privilege to use facilities at Clubs across the U.S. and throughout the world. All you need to do is make reservations directly with the appropriate club while providing your Missouri Athletic Club membership number. Once reservations are made, contact the Membership Office to request a “letter of introduction” to send to the reciprocal Club, then you are all set. If you travel, this is a great benefit, so I invite you all take advantage of this opportunity. I wanted to also highlight the new fitness services offered at the West Clubhouse in conjunction with SSM that include physical therapy with services such as Functional Movement Screens (FMS). I was able to take advantage of the FMS with Billy Ferris, a Patient Care Manager. The screen consisted of seven fundamental movement patterns and four clearing tests (ankle, shoulder, two back). The first objective of the screen is to discover if any movements create pain (all movements should be pain-free). The second objective is to identify impairments in mobility and stability of various body segments during each of the seven movement patterns. The final objective is to provide corrective exercises that can be incorporated into your weekly fitness program. This service is offered through a partnership we have with SSM. Now, MAC Members have access to physical therapy at our West Clubhouse. If you are interested in this service, call 314-822-3205 to schedule your session. Billy is amazing and I promised him I would follow his recommended exercise plan. So far, I’m holding true to that promise! The MAC membership base continues to grow. Over the past year, we have added 94 new Members to our Club. When the board had the unfortunate task of closing the Clubhouses due to the pandemic, we were a Club of 2,370 members. I’m happy to say we now have 2,350 Members! We are almost back to our pre-pandemic state. THANK YOU for supporting the

MAC, even when we were closed. The commitment our Members to the long-term success of the MAC is outstanding. The MAC is strong because of you! Once we surpass our pre-pandemic Member count, we have plans to host several Member appreciation nights. I’m also excited to share some news! The Board has approved two new capital projects which are targeted to kick off in September. First, we will remodel the West Clubhouse dining room. The dining room will soon look and feel like the 1903 Bar and offer a new dining experience. We are targeting completion of this project before Thanksgiving 2021. Second, we will be adding a canopy to the patio, and installing heaters, fans and misting cooling apparatus, as well as an outdoor cooking station. This will allow us to extend the season for what has become one of our more popular destinations. We look forward to many Members enjoying these new spaces. MEMBER HIGHLIGHT: As I mentioned in my previous articles, I intend to highlight Members around the Club who serve selflessly. This month, I’d like to highlight Past President Bugh (20132014), Past President Mark Belew (1997-1998), Past President Scott Engelbrecht (2007-2008) and Past President Lodewyck for their support of the Preservation Foundation Golf Tournament. This year, the tournament takes place on Aug. 30 at Glen Echo. Their dedication to the event over the years has been amazing. I have enjoyed watching these four Past Presidents have fun organizing the tournament and raising more than $845,000 for the Preservation Foundation. Past Presidents Bugh, Belew, Engelbrecht and Lodewyck, thank you for your selfless service to the MAC. The MAC is a better place because of you! Don’t forget about two other special events this month: the Father-Daughter Banquet on Aug. 12 and the first event of our inaugural Speaker Series, Hockey Night in STL on Aug. 25. If you see me around the Club, make sure you sure stop me and engage me. I’m excited for the future of the Missouri Athletic Club and proud to tell everyone I am a Member of this premier Club. Sincerely,

Angie Minges, President Missouri Athletic Club
