MOUNTIES TABLE TENNIS CLUB
Members of Mounties Table Tennis Club. Hope you are all well and keeping safe What an eighteen months we all had to endure and are still enduring for an unknown time to come.
Beginning year 2020, all appeared to be well. The 2021 AGM was held, committee elected and new 2020 teams formed and submitted for the Table Tennis Western District Summer Competition. Enter COVID19 beginning of March 2020 and new rules came into force and applied . within all areas of MOUNTIES CLUB facilities for the safety of all visiting members and guests. These rules also applied to Table Tennis Western Sydney resulting the Summer as well as Winter competition to be cancelled. Table Tennis Social continued for the remainder of 2020 under strict hygiene rules with MTTC providing hand sanitation dispensers & wipes for players and equipment. Start of 2021 saw the commencement of a renovation program with the Mounties Club taking in the existing Table Tennis , Darts, section of the bowls area as well as the Sports bar area This work is still in progress at the present time of writing this report. MTTC held their annual AGM in January 2021 with members re election all previous committee members. Following the AGM MTTC members wishing to form teams for playing in the 2021 TTWS Summer Competition. Submitted team information ( three teams, one A, one A2 & one C grade) to the MTTTC committee, and were duly lodged with TTWS. With MTTC without a home night venue available at Mounties Club, an alternative rental venue was acquired, this being at WTTC Fairfield. MTTC completion members were able to use a selection of tables there for a single night per week for practicing their skills plus having a table per grade available on the home night. All this worked out well achieving good end of season play in June 2021 with just semi & grand finals left to play when the NEW STRAIN of Covid 19 struck making no further play in the foreseeable future possible. Perhaps with some good fortune in the coming weeks leading up to Christmas 2021 we can look forward to a window wide enough to have these matches completed with a most favorable outcome for MTTC team members.
