MOUNTIES TOASTMASTERS

The world is watching and enduring a once-in-a-century global pandemic. In spite of this Toastmasters club members remained on a steady course, with learning the refresher course, Pathways. Only three years ago, Toastmasters International launched an ambitious online curriculum, Pathways. New members started on Pathways whilst our existing members had to transition to Pathways by June 30th of 2020.

We welcome new members Alan McCartin, Sophie Phan and Damien Sisouphane, who courageously delivered their Ice Breaker speech, reaffirming our TM club has a friendly atmosphere where members can comfortably share stories and build their confidence. We acknowledge existing members, Allan Davies, Sylvia Violi and Mere Edwards who presented their Ice Breaker speech via Pathways. Congratulations Frank Duardo for receiving the highest honor award of Distinguished Toastmaster. Recognition needs to go to our unsung members. Those stepping into leadership roles as Club Officers and keeping our meetings going, altering agendas, adopting virtual meetings, and dealing with membership loss. Thank you for your continual efforts. A bitter-sweet farewell to Karyn Charlton who moved to Queensland. A seasoned speaker with a wealth of communication experience. I was fortunate to have her impart her knowledge, whilst mentoring. Thank you Karyn for your contribution, you will be truly missed. We wish you every success in the future. July 2021, one year on, we remember Carmela Ferraro, who lost her battle to cancer. Carmela, an inspirational speaker, a guide and mentor, and a dear friend. We miss and love you dearly. Before passing, Carmela achieved the highest honor in Toastmaster – Distinguished Toastmaster. Our Annual Change Over Dinner for 2021 has been postponed due to lockdown. We look forward to when we can meet and celebrate in person.
