FY2020 AUDITED FINANCIALS
At the March City Council meeting, City Council accepted the Fiscal Year 2020 Audited Financial Statements. The firm, Belt Harris Pechacek, LLLP, issued an unmodified opinion on the City’s financial statements – the highest assurance the firm can provide for the City's financial documents. Within the audit, the Finance Department submitted to Council the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), which is published to provide the City Council, City staff, our citizens, our bondholders, and other interested parties with detailed information concerning the financial condition and activities of the City government. COUNCIL MEETING RECAP MARCH 8, 2021 - REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING Presented a Check for $1,000 from the City's HOT Fund to the Bay Area Houston Ballet & Theatre. Heard a Status Report on Winter Storm Uri from City Manager Jason Reynolds. Heard a Presentation on the City of Nassau Bay’s Crime Statistics from Police Chief Tim Cromie. Held a Public Hearing and approved the first of two readings of Ordinance No. O2021-809 regulating Garage Sales in the City of Nassau Bay. Approved Resolution R2021-2220 exempting from 2021 Ad Valorem Taxes a portion of the market value of a residence homestead as authorized by the Constitution of the State of Texas. Authorized the City Manager to execute TWDB Contract No. 2000012431 Flood Mitigation Assistance Project Grant between the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB), serving as the administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Flood Mitigation Assistance Program, and City of Nassau Bay. Approved the first and only reading of Ordinance O2021810 amending the Fiscal Year 2020 Budget. Heard a Presentation on the Audited Financial Statements and Accompanying Documents for Fiscal Year Ending September 30, 2020 by Belt Harris Pechacek, LLLP with Acceptance of Same by Council. Directed staff to prepare the necessary documents for debt issuance notification. Heard a Presentation on the City’s street striping project and discussed general striping options for the City’s roadways.
MARCH 12, 2021 - SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING Approved the first of two readings of an Ordinance authorizing and allowing, under the Act governing the Texas Municipal Retirement System, a reduction of the annual COLA for members (City employees) from 70% of Consumer Price Index (CPI) to 30% of CPI, effective January 1, 2022.
